Sony Ericsson Z770i Review

The Sony Ericsson Z770i is a 3G mobile phone which comes in a sophisticated clamshell opening casing which oozes style & grace in appearance alone. The handset comes in three colour options which are a vogue red colour option which is a mainly silver coloured casing red accents, a graphite black colour option which is a sleek black coloured casing with silver accents & an exquisite golden colour option which is mainly silver coloured handset with gold coloured accents. The Z770i comes with an external mono type screen which allows the user to view information externally as well as internally on this sophisticated handset. The user can view the internal screen by gently flipping open the clamshell casing to reveal a 2.2 Inch colour screen on the opened section of the handset & a stunning keypad on the lower section of the handset. The keypad is beautiful to look at with its wave effect metal keys which are etched into the metal surface. The keypad is stylish, unique & useable for the user when inputting numbers & text. The Z770i is from the same family as the Sony Ericsson Z710i & the Sony Ericsson Z750i which are both members of the Z range designed by Sony Ericsson. The Z770i 3G phone comes in a compact clamshell casing which is 93mm tall by 48mm wide by 16mm deep.

The 3G HSDPA technology allows the use to enjoy high speed Internet access, fast data transfers, video streaming & multitasking skills on the Sony Ericsson Z770i. The user can connect their Z770i to a compatible personal computer, printer or laptop using a Bluetooth® wireless connection or a USB connection. The phone comes with 32 megabytes of built in memory plus a memory card slot allows the user to expand the phones memory to suit their storage needs. The phone works on a GSM tri band network & UMTS 2100 which allows the user to use the handset in Europe & in the majority of the US but the network coverage is fully dependent on the network provider. A fitted battery when fully charged can provide up to eight & a half hours of GSM talk time for the user to enjoy or up to three hundred & forty hours of standby time. A built in Access NetFront™ Web browser allows the user to enjoy a mobile Web experience on the Sony Ericsson Z770i whenever the user needs to find out information or access Web services.

An integrated 2 megapixel camera comes complete with a 2.5 x digital zoom function which allows the user to zoom in & out off their target to get the best possible picture. The TrackID™ feature is simple to use just record a few second of a song you hear & within seconds the TrackID™ feature will tell you the name of the song, the artist name & the album from which the song is from. The user can also download music quickly using the PlayNow™ download feature which is the easiest & quickest method to download new music. A MegaBass™ feature allows the user to enhance the bass sound & quality of their music. The Sony Ericsson Z770i comes with a FM radio complete with radio RDS which allows the user to enjoy a totally new music listening experience on their 3G phone. The messaging services include an instant message service, SMS text message service, MMS picture message service & an email service. The user can chose a message service to suit their needs & purpose. The user can send either an email or an MMS message to any email address. The messaging services allow the user to communicate with other compatible messaging contact to make arrangements & share pictures without having to make a call. I am really impressed. Although that I am an advanced user for mobiles, computer & Internet but I never suspect that such mobile Z770i may have all these smart features.

Everything you need is there.

This phone has most of the features I need from communicating by means of phone calls to SMS & emails as well as a quite reasonable possibility to store lots of music, pictures etc. On the interchangeable memory cards up to 8GB each. The sound quality is quite OK too if you use stereo headphones.

The Internet access is unexpectedly fast & the included Google maps application is really a helpful tool, especially with the possibility to move the cursor with the arrow buttons. The menus etc are easy to work with especially if you are used to the Sony Ericsson phones.

The slim partly metallic design has class compared to many recent more expensive phones (which tends to look too plastic in my opinion). The buttons are comfortable & not too small even for a grown man.

Overall the phone gives an impression of quality.

There are some less positive aspects though. The phone could have been equipped with a camera of more than 2 mega pixels to facilitate more professional photos. In addition the phone does not seem to be compatible with the iSync program of the Mac which if not fixed makes it impossible to sync calendars, contacts etc with the Mac.

Well I never! So hateful I don't know why I bought it, too few functions, display has too many scanlines, low response, & I didn't like the design, makes me remember my Motorola.
