My question, can I claim to company regarding it's screen problem?

About 30% functions are not working due to the restrictions of my service provider, further I do not know more about netfront web browser on which my Z550i mobile works. I request from Sony Ericsson the mobile manufacturer about netfront information with details of its web browsing along with other software downloads. Other feature works fine except web browser which is nearly zero without opera mini downloads.

The bad:
- the volume (ring message tone as well as music) is too low. You can't hear it in a crowded street & to top it off the vibrators weak when compared to a Nokia.
- Connectivity option are poor. Bluetooth v1.1 USB is pop port (meaning slower transfers) & no infra-red (which really doesn't matter)!
- the keypad spoils the display.

The good:
- Until now my phone has fallen like so many times (I work in high tension scenarios so forgot my phones on my lap or hand or wherever LOL) & still the hardware is intact. Brilliant because my previous phone lasted 1 month for the same reason but this one is already 3 months old.
- the battery is good for this average Sony Ericsson phone. People should come to terms with it. I recharge everyday but I talk for 2-3hrs every day.
- Value for money (camera & music features wise). I compared all the 6000 range mobiles this had the best features except in the connectivity dept!

Unfortunately to find that the problem still existed. If this phone didn't have these problems I would be very happy with it. Beware anyone intending to buy.

This phone sounds like a very good phone at an affordable price. I might be getting this phone to replace my old phone, the LG u300, which I absolutely loved but accidentally got dropped in the washing machine! Overall the features in the z550i phone sound good but it would be better if there was 3G but then again the phone would be more expensive & bulky.

I think it's a good phone. I read all the reviews by the users & felt that they are very harsh on this model. Hey, let's face it, it has only 1.3 MP camera & you can't compare it with the 2 MP phones like other Sony models & Nokia. The battery is not as advanced as Walkman series & you can't expect more than that from a Sony Ericsson phone. Design, Features, Usability is very good. I myself use Nokia 6630 which is 1.3 MP camera & Sony's camera quality is way better than 6630, even N70 for that matter. It's just our mindset that whatever Nokia makes is good which is not right. What software do you use? A file explorer, anti virus, full screen caller only that much. Except anti virus everything is built in Sony Ericsson phones. You don't need an anti virus application for Sony phones. I strongly recommend Sony Ericsson phones to everyone.

I have been using this phone for a long time. The phone looks good but the memory stick comes at a high cost. I got this mobile two months ago. I think this would be a good mobile if some of its features have been enhanced. Firstly its monochrome display has not much usage. Secondly, it operates on JAVA & there are very few software's available in jar format. Unlike Nokia 6600 which can run both sis as well as jar files. Next one thing is that Sony give no accessory with Z550i like memory card, Bluetooth hands-free, data cable etc. Except a hands-free earphone. The purchase of these things increase its cost. Its camera works very well in day time but in artificial light it is worst. Its battery backup is also low. I think it doesn't provide a customer satisfaction & can't compensate with its price money.

This is the 3rd phone I've had of these. The first one turned off after one day & wouldn't turn back on. The second one was replaced after a week for turning off by itself & now my third one is doing the same. Even if I gently put it on my desk, it'll turn off or if I am talking to someone, it'll turn off. I wanted a different replacement phone & wasn't allowed so we'll see what they say about this third one. Also, the screen on the front only stays on for a short time so you have to constantly check to see if you have messages/calls etc. The names also scroll across the front too quickly so you have to open it to see who has called. It's easy to use but all in all, I am not happy with this phone.

It is a cool phone 2 hang out wid. It is a model which impresses your gal friend on the 1st sight. But the camera is not good to capture far away placed objects. & the sound volume is not good as compared to the Walkman series of the same manufacturer. But the sound quality is awesome man! You can hear the slightest beat of music being played which in fact is far far better than the Nokia phones which do nothing except creating noise.

OVERALL IT'S A GOOD PHONE BUT I SUGEEST TO PUT MORE BUCKS & GO FOR A WALMAN SERIES MODEL INSTEAD.

Boy, is it cool or what? I bought this mobile over a month back & am very satisfied. It's got cool looks, excellent audio clarity, decent camera, FM (though I don't use it much) & loved the musicdj, photodj softs too. One problem however seems to be that battery life's bad (which has always been a problem with Sony Ericsson mobile phones), all in all, a cool phone for the money's worth. & one piece of advice if you wanna get a mobile phone. & go searching' the 'ntire crazy galaxy. In the process, you still find out that Sony Ericsson is the best out there;-)

I think for starters that the sterling black looks much better. This phone is the fourth phone I have had in two years & is a great phone from what I have seen in the last what, about 2 weeks since Christmas.

The design of the phone is fairly good, I personally think if the phone is too thin, it will stuff up in a short period of time because the phone is so packed in the phone overloads itself, but even with all the new technology today that keeps getting smaller & smaller, I still think that.

Making things thinner or smaller all the time can be a good idea but you can go too far & that's what I think some people are doing right now, just always remember smaller doesn't always work out better, so the saying good things come in small packages isn't always true, so overall this phone is a perfect size its got lots of features (which I am just about to talk about) that are not packed in to tightly.

For the features of this phone I gave it 90% cause they are excellent although you do need a bit of money to use the Internet on the phone but its only temporary till you get home to your computer if you have one, the camera quality is good but definitely, that's about it, everything else it good in the features.

For the usability I reckon sometimes it's pretty hard to flip it open & closed & I always worry about breaking the flipper thing, the open answer option is a great idea same with the end call close option, it can be hard to use this phone because I always worry about braking it because of its flip.

Overall I think that it's a great phone but it's terrible for a phone that's been already improved (z550i) because it seriously needs a lot of them, overall percentage rating I give it 80% other then all of that I personally think Sony-Ericsson is the best manufacturer on the phone market overall.

My experience with z550i, this is Praveen from Hyderabad. Ya I bought this z550i phone on 01-jan-2007. Bcoz I wanna start this yr with a great deal & now I am absolutely disappointed with the performance of the camera. Its performance is very poor at night (when light is less) even at tubelight also the picture quality is very poor. It is not even better than vga camera that Nokia 6600 has.

But the other features are some what better. If you are going to buy a new mobile in Sony for video/photos just go for k750i it is very good & so nice & now the cost is 10, 500.

The price range is around 8000 go for Nokia, moto, Samsung don go for z550i. Don't buy if you wanna good camera video & photos, the K750i is better.

A great phone with less cost. Good sound quality, good looks & the best thing is that it has FM which other stylish Nokia or Motorola v3i phones don't have. The only thing is that its card is costly but on the other hand, it has better life than other cards.

I think this is great, as compared to the price for it.

Most bad things I found:
1. No USB cable modem provided
2. Poor sound effect
3. Battery (really a great problem!)
4. No infra-red
5. Charger I changed 3 times!
6. Costly memory card
7. Low quality camera

Most good things I found:
1. Smart and sleek handset
3. Good looks
2. Appropriate to the price
4. Good sound effect in hands-free
5. Easy to handle

All in all, I'm very happy with this!

Can anyone who owns it answer this question? Is it possible to set the phone up so that you are notified of a new unread text message every few minutes? My Samsung D600 does this & it's a really good feature, otherwise if you miss the short vibration alert you might not realise you have a text message for many hours! Rich

Its a real bargain for the features that are packed in it, however the least Sony could have done is given a Software CD, USB Data Cable, infrared device, at least a decent memory stick. The phone overall is pretty good, except for these add ons which are missing. Having said that, I think its a good switch from a boring Nokia. Really - VALUE FOR MONEY!

Great Phone at an affordable Price. Had my eyes on it the moment I saw it on the net. Although a bit disappointed with the performance, specially the clamshell body which gets a bit 'squeaky' n loose after sometime & the camera clarity in dark conditions is pathetic.

However will rate it 7/10 overall.

This phone is a well designed phone at a great price this is defiantly. What ur looking 4 if u haven't yet bought this phone buy it, 200 bucks is great. I prefer the creamy colour 2 they silver but I think that is coz I'm a girl. if u buy it from Vodafone every time ur recharge of 30 bucks u get 100 free texts so buy from Vodafone. 3 mobile has really bad reception

Main bad point, there isn't a scroll down button witch means that it is quit hard 2 use.

Over all, this phone is small, easy 2 carry around & perfect 4 a busy person!!!

A few things to add in here even though I have not yet bought this phone, but I'm planning to. This set is really a cool one.

STRIKING FEATURES: I found in this phone which I waited for long are:
1. MP3 playback with MP4 & AAC support among other formats & also manual EQ (very cool feature).
2. Bluetooth (even though, I read, one will not be able to send mp3 songs to other Bluetooth devices using Bluetooth) is a really good handy option in this set.
3. USB.
4. Finally, but most important feature for me is this USB MASS STORAGE feature of this phone.

Well, this is not just a phone, it is (a) a MP3 player, (b) a pen drive, (c) a camera, & (d) a phone. So, you are carrying 4 devices in 1...

NOT-SO-STRIKING FEATURES: Not so for my interest what the phone lacks (I think) are
1. Camera (I read the quality is bad & I myself have seen photo taken with its camera which is not so appealing), maybe because I'm used to seeing my digital photos from my Canon digicam.
2. No USB cable provided. This one is really bad thing (I read from the reviews posted in the net).
3. M2 memory card. The new format of M2 card is really expensive, but I guess the price might come down months later.

THIS IS WHAT I CAN MAKE OUT FROM THE REVIEW AND SPECS AND OVERVIEW OF THE PHONE FROM DIFFERENT RESOURCES I HAVE COLLECTED ON THIS PHONE.

BOTTOM LINE: For its price tag, the features, support, & the capability that this phone provides, this is really a great phone.

Friend's z550i is excellent. I love it whether its camera, mp3 player or radio all Great. The voice quality is very great it's just like digital home theatre system. The 1.3 megapixel camera has 4x digital zoom & takes great snap shots. Buy it & see you'll find what we were really needing in the cell phones. A stylish cell phone with all the great features. It has built-in modem, pop email system, Bluetooth & wap enabled. You can also read rss feeds & subscribe them also. Z550 offers both services EMS & SMS messaging. The speed of data transfer is excellent. Moreover the best thing is it looks like a cell phone not like those other big phones which have some functions & are not easy to carry. I give Sony Ericsson full marks for the product. It has memory slot & can be upgraded also, go for it.

Had a w550i previously & exchanged for this one coz this had expandable memory. Video quality is lot poorer as compared to w550i.....no horizontal mode for videos available...also the micro m2 card. Which u gotta buy is pretty costly. Around 6000 for a 1 GB!!! Also the headphones are way behind the w series ones. Retained my w550i headphones for a extra charge & funny...NO data cable...another 1800 bucks... so the price is(INR) 8500+3000(5i2mb card)+1600(data cable)+1200(headphones)...!!!!!!!!!!! r we missing something
