Sony Ericsson Z320i Review
The Sony Ericsson Z320i is a stylish clamshell opening phone which allows the user to view information externally on the icon display which saves the user time & effort by not opening the handset to check their phones or call status. The icon display adds appeal to the handset as well as being a highly useful informative display. The icons lights up when they need to which shows the user when a new call comes in, a new message comes in, a call is missed & when the phone is set to silent. The internal screen is a 65k colour screen which allows the user to view photos, messages & picture wallpapers on the clear screen. The internal screen works as a viewfinder when the user is operating the built in camera. The overall appearance of the Sony Ericsson Z320i provides the user with a fashionable retro looking handset which pays resemblance to other clamshell phones including the Sony Ericsson Z250i & the Sony Ericsson Z310i. The user can add style to their mobile phone by changing the Style Up™ covers which allows the user to instantly change the overall look of their handset.

The phone comes with a built in WAP Internet browser which allows the user to access the Internet from their mobile handset. The user can access the Internet where ever they are which allows the user to access the information & services they need instantly. The user can connect to other devices including their home or work PC, laptop or printer using either a USB connection or an infra red connection between the compatible devices. The Z320i comes with built in memory which provides the user with 12 Mbytes of memory on their mobile phone which allows the user to store their phone book information, messages & photos with ease. The Sony Ericsson Z320i is a tri band network mobile handset which covers GSM 900, 1800 & 1900. The network coverage available to the user is dependent on the user's network provider. The phone comes with embedded games which are ready & waiting on the handset as soon as the user unpacks their phone there are fun games ready & waiting to be enjoyed. The user can use the phones speaker phone feature which provides the user with a handsfree call solution when the user needs both hands whilst working & the user can talk over the phones loud speakers whilst resting the Z320i on their desk. The phone supports MP3, AAC & polyphonic tones which allows the user to change their ringing tones & message alerts to suit their style & taste.

When the usability was good, it was good, however after two months the phone keeps turning itself off after about 10 minutes. Replaced battery & it still does it. This phone is rubbish. AVOID.

I liked the designed & that's why I chose it. For a time it was just an OK phone.
Then one day I couldn't send any MMS anymore. The photo albums became extremely laggy. Sometimes I couldn't receive MMS either. Sometimes I couldn't even receive calls or make them & finally one day it gave me the low battery sign & ceased its functions. I couldn't do anything, I could only watch at the sign until the battery wore off. No responses whatsoever from the buttons. I thought that at least after the battery was gone it would be able to resume its functions but no. Now it doesn't even turn on anymore.
What a great phone! You can't even turn it on! Absolutely useless! RUN FROM IT!

Don't know what some people expect for their money! It's not as good as more expensive Sony phones I've had but it's great for the price & I've had no problems at all. As for the bloke who said it looks like a rock, did he buy it with his eyes shut or what?

Good phone if all you want to do is call or text someone but have found the texting really slow & most of the time is doesn't recognise simple words. Have had a number of problem with it including a rubbish battery that holds for not even a day & a message saying SERIOUS ERROR DO NOT USE PHONE CONTACT Sony Ericsson immediately & DISCONNECT CHARGER NOW.

This phone is ridiculous! I've had it for 2 days & I can't stand it! I've tried to download songs FROM the PHONE & now the silly thing refused to download it! I certainly wouldn't buy it unless you just want it to phone & text someone ONLY.

I bought this phone in early 2008. Have had numerous problems with it. It has been replaced twice & each replacement also has similar problems.
- the battery does not last very long.
- When I travelled to Belfast recently I was unable to use the phone despite being set up for roaming. From the minute we got close to the border, I kept receiving text messages from an unknown number, this continued until the phone battery died. So in essence the phone was useless to me.
- the charger gets very hot when charging the phone.
- Often despite charging the phone, it will not switch on at all, to fix this have to take the SIM card out.
- No matter whether I have the phone set to normal or to meeting it still shows on the display as having no ringing sound.
- Received a phone call, the phone continued to vibrate during the call. This continued despite finishing the call. Again, the only way to rectify this was to switch the phone off.
- Again there are ongoing problems. Despite charging the phone, it will not switch on at all
This phone is now the third one & again has problems.
- the phone gets stuck in some menus, & the only way to resolve this is to take the battery & SIM out.
- No matter whether I have the phone set to normal or to meeting it still shows on the display as having no ringing sound & does not actually ring, THIS WAS ONE OF the PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCED WITH the ORIGINAL PHONE.
- I cannot actually send any text messages at all.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER Sony PHONE.

The lack of features I don't mind at all, it's refreshing not to be overwhelmed by the next sparkly thing a phone manufacturer decides to strap on. It was one of the attractions of the phone, actually.
What I don't like is the laggy menu system. In your impatience you might hit a key twice not being sure if the first time you hit had registered at all because of the lag. That's very annoying. Sending a SMS is therefore unnecessarily drawn out.
I bought the phone yesterday, charged it up & 9 hours later I am on 85% with no calls in between. That does NOT add up to the specs on the Sony website which claims 300 hours on standby. That is a BIG disappointment.
Mine was very cheap, but on reflection the cheaper phone next to it with Bluetooth connectivity & possibly better battery performance seems to be a much better buy now. Another disappointment from Sony which reinforces my belief that I don't really need to buy anything Sony overprices any more.

I've read a lot of reviews on this phone & someone I know has it. So far, I am DEFINATELY not going to buy it. This is why.
- It's too big, like a brick more like.
- It hasn't got Bluetooth, which is VERY annoying.
- The battery drops down loads very quickly even if you charge it up for ages!
- It's very fragile, don't ever drop it or scratch it or bang it, which might be a bit hard.
- It freezes very often when you're in the middle of something & often doesn't work.
If you really think about it, it isn't that good. A bad drop for Sony.

Rubbish! Doesn't hold charge, what a waste of money! Design & features are OK when it actually works, though!

Pros, small, light weight, low price relative to features.
Cons, VERY POOR battery life! I regret for buying it just for that!
Also, navigation stick is a little bit too small which make it hard to use.

I just recently bought this phone & I find it great!
It has a great, cute design, with changeable covers & it is really easy to use! When you miss a call, receive a call or get sent a message, little icons on the exterior screen appear that are really useful & look great.
Those people that are having problems with battery, it is probably because you didn't charge it for 10 hours as soon as you got it.
The only disadvantage to this phone is that it doesn't come with Bluetooth, but I just bought a USB cable so I can easily connect to the computer & upload files, themes pictures (you can download these from various website).
I really love this phone & I haven't found any problems with it!

Don't buy this unless you're into throwing money away. This phone is junk. It will freeze up, & you will lose all your data. I should have read reviews before buying. It had a good price in Qatar at the airport, & was an impulse buy. Now I have to buy a different phone. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE! Sony quality has really gone down. Too bad. I will never buy another Sony product as long as I live.

I have always stuck with Sony Ericsson because of the ease of use (never need to read the manual) & logical & efficient navigation layout. I have been very happy with my old Ericsson's. Unfortunately from the end to the start of text.

The reviews that say this phone is a brick are talking 'ubbish, it's small & feels good in the hand. The matt colours are nice & subtle, & the minimal design is good for those with a little taste. Doesn't have all the features of the top level new phones, but then again you're not paying the money. Is admittedly slow to load up, but how often do you do that really? Wouldn't worry about it.

I love the phone! It's great for people who want something very handy without all those frills. In other words it's not complicated. Its great if you utilise it more for text messaging & calling & when you need to take pictures you can do it with just a snap. The elegance of the phone in its simplicity.

This phone is a failed product. It crashed a lot of time, when calling, playing game or even copying contact from other phone. It is slow at start up & also the batteries just held on for 24 hrs.
I bought it 1.5 months ago, but only used it for 2 or 3 weeks. The rest of it? Either in store for repair or still broken.
I like the design though.

The Z320i we purchased on 21.11.2007 displayed failings as soon as it was out of the box:
1. Extremely slow activation to PIN code entry point
2. 'Frozen'/crashed start up!
3. Repeat of 1.-2. Above despite trying different SIM cards provided by two other mobile phone users.
4. Complicated settings for WAP/Internet connection, & 5. Settings that are supposed to be available from Sony Ericsson's Internet support site are not!
6. Fails to connect to WAP/Internet, despite numerous attempts at complicated & user intensive manual entry of settings provided by GSM network provider.
7. Fast drain of fully charged battery!
8. Repeated 'Frozen'/crashed start up after recharging battery.
When we took the first unit of Sony Ericsson Z320i back they replaced it with another unit that displays very similar failings as the first. So, it was hardly surprising to us that, when we asked a representative for help with obtaining the settings for connecting to the WAP/Internet, we were informed that a recall for service to address at least a software problem was issued very nearly the same day we purchased the first unit! Shocking considering the generally accepted principle that the end users (customers) of products for such a globally competitive market are not supposed to be used as beta testers without their express knowledge & permission!

What a load of rubbish. Phone will only last 36 hours on standby. I have sent it back three times & still not any good. Design & features good but totally impractical to use when you have to keep charging it every day.

FANTSTIC PHONE, I HAD the Z310I & PASSED IT OFF TO MY WIFE. IT'S STILL A GREAT PHONE BUT the ADDED FEATURES ON the Z320I JUST MAKE IT THAT LITTLE SPECIAL. THANKS Sony Ericsson, A JOB WELL DONE.
