I have had this phone forever & I think that yes it does have some faults but that is more to do with its age & the fact I haven't looked after it.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem but every song I have had has the tendency to turn off & this one is no different however it's not too bad & it doesn't happen regularly. I love the settings, the games & the Walkman part, & the every lasting battery.
The camera is brilliant (mine no longer works though LOL).

The speakers are good.

I am sorry to have to stop using this phone as the charger connection no longer works so can charge it up.

Great phone though would definitely recommend it.

This phone is awful it was so unusable I had to stamp on it. I am glad I did because it looked like a piece of rubbish. The fine has so few extras on it I wanted my money back because I had to buy so much! I would not recommend this to anyone because it is so poor.

I have this phone for two & a half years, still using it. All I can say its brilliant, best camera, best music & best features at its time (3G isn't this mush of a concern). I didn't even have to upgrade memory, the 512MB card is doing fine. Even now, with a bunch of 3 & 5MB phones around, it still stands the competition, thanks to its very fine photos & powerful music player & earphone combo.

The only downside is the poor video capabilities. Not that this is inherent, it's just that as time passes things get dated. That's why I am looking for an upgrade. The best match would be nothing less than LG Secret, presumably will be the benchmark for multimedia capabilities.

Sadly, however, I'll part with my loyal companion. May be I'll find some condolence, as I'll hand it to my wife. & as one review mentions, this'll be a durability test!

This phone is alright but my headphone adapter thing keeps breaking & I am not going to pay £20 for a new pair. The headphones work fine it's just the thing that connects the headphones to the phone that doesn't work. Also the phone is really thick & heavy, it literally weighs a tonne.

Apart from that it's a really good phone.

This phone I have had it for about 10 months now & it annoys me a lot. I like it & all it's just the fact that when you text message the buttons make a clicking noise which is annoying & the phone works very slow & freezes sometimes.

When you use the sub to add music, it is so complicated because the phone keeps freezing up & turning on & off, but other than that it's a good phone that takes nice clear photos. I love the fact that the camera is like a digital camera with a lot of features.

I have had this phone for 18 months now & am about to upgrade it to a K800i (probably). Unlike previous Sony Ericsson phones I had the joystick has not packed in which I was worried about. It is a breeze to use & so easy to put music & or podcasts onto & remove from. The camera is decent, especially for photos taken outside but without a flash not great for inside. The light is really useful as a torch! I have turned the camera & music player on by accident a good few times - the music player is my own fault for not locking the keypad - but all in all no real problems. Will hand it onto my son to give it a real durability test now, & hope my new phone is as reliable as this has been.

I've had this phone for over a year & 7 months. Just like the rest of those who have it or has had it, it's been good to me. Only thing though, I've replaced my headset for about 3 times already (but mostly because I use it a lot & just stuff it in my bag recklessly, the wires just keeps tearing). Until a few months ago, I've been noticing that I am having problems with the charging I think the charging slot has loosened due to wear & tear, & that the battery life wasn't as long as it use to be (it could last to one week even on full MP3 usage) lately I have to recharge it every other day, I guess the battery's wearing off. Other than that, this phone is nearly indestructible. It has fallen numerous times, & received only minor scratches. It's a great phone, if you don't need 3G, then you'll be happy & satisfied. I have expanded the memory with a 2GB stick, so that's a lot of songs, & even an mp4 movie. For a phone that more than a year & a half its doing fine, the later models of the Walkman phone hasn't really stepped far from this first Walkman phone version (except for the TRACKER ID, 3G features, the newer ones really just like this one).

Although my scores tell the story of the phones success with me, I am going to point out the bad bits for they are more useful as the phone is superb. The 800i was the most reliable I have had in 16 years of mobile phone use but the annoying screen glare on a sunny day makes it a pain. The screen also allows dust behind it & I changed mine once. The option to send phone contacts separate to sim contacts isn't clear & the software provided for contact transfer could be better. The Camera has a long delay between press & capture of pics & the camera is activated by accident easily. The Walkman is activated accidentally because the buttons are not flush enough to the case. 8.5/10 overall though. Now got a Nokia 6300 & features are not so generous.

Brilliant little phone. I just handed it over to my brother as its time for me to upgrade. Tried the 880I. Rubbish in comparison for features.

The W800i has a brilliant camera & video for a mobile phone which is hard to beat even on the really new models of phones now. The only thing better is phones with higher mpix & flash which are rare.

Easy to put your songs onto this & I just love the radio feature as I like to go running & always take it with me.

Very durable. I have dropped it a million times as I am clumsy & often drunk.

It's just so brilliant & this is coming from a former Nokia lover.

Sony Ericsson market share in mobile phones says it all. Although on saying that please stay away from the W880i unless you are an image only type person ;)

It's a very light & thin mobile phone I ever had. I have it for more than a year. It never had a problem until now & the battery life astonishing. If it is in Walkman only mode, I can use it for more than 24 hours & I tried it actually. Sound quality is excellent. Memory is expandable. 2MP camera is an outstanding one. If you talk about this phone, there is only good things to say. The only minor boring thing is the orange & white colour of the cover. Apart from that I can rate it 100%.

I have had this phone for over a year & it has lasted all sorts of things, dropped a number of times & also in water 2 times & survived. I like the design because it's not like any other. The mouse has gotten a bit slow by now but if you learn the keyboard shortcuts then you can get around much easier.

If you need a good music phone it's also great, you can upgrade it with extra stuff & memory witch is very nice after a while. I love it.

Just reading reviews as I am due to get my new phone tomorrow & thought I'd see what you lot said about the phone I have now!

I love the W800i, & think I may struggle to replace it, with its huge memory, picture quality & music thingy, Walkman thing.

However, similar to another comment I read, it started to play up a few months ago, turning off every now & then, text messages getting messed up, (the last message received wasn't at the top of the list.) & then it stopped charging. First I thought it was the charger, which would be the 2nd charger I've had (1st one was faulty) but I think its my phone as I can't even charge it through the computer, so for the past few months I've had to make trips to my friends house just to charge my phone! Grrr

Hope this helps

I've had this phone now for about a year & unfortunately having to get a new one!

As I come off of any item on the main menu, the colours will all mix together & it will freeze! It's constantly switching itself on & off & turning itself on to silent.

I am now having problems with calls & texts as I am often not receiving them. If I do receive a call, I often can't hear the person at the other end!

My phone has also stopped charging, it isn't the charger as I have borrowed my sis who has a different Sony Ericsson phone.

I loved this little phone & had no probs with it up until a few months ago, maybe my ones just past its sell by date?! But, nevertheless, I am going to get myself a Samsung E900 :-D

If you do get this phone, I would recommend some kind of insurance just in case! Hope I was helpful!

After having this phone for a whole year, I cannot fault it. It has never broken after being dropped a few times, or malfunctioned in any way at all.

The phone is pretty simple to use after you get used to the toggle, & all the functions are easy to operate.

The Walkman is an excellent feature, & the sound quality is good, however it is far better when listened to through the headset.

The Camera is very good, & is very stylish to use especially because the phone looks like a digital camera when used sideways in camera mode.

The only thing I would say is that after a year of relatively hard usage the toggle started to stick slightly. Also the camera lens cover became slightly worn out. Although it is worn out, it is far from broken, & I have used this phone a lot.

The battery life is awesome, lasts me about 2 weeks on one full charge.

Although now there are far better phones on the market to this one, this phone really was amazing when it first came out, & really it still is. I will be sad when I get rid of this phone because it has been so good to me, never gone wrong once.

Hopefully my new K800i will be as good as the W800i was to me.

Have had the phone for 8 months. In that time its been changed after the first day as it crashed & now been with carphone warehouse for two months as the screen light keeps going. Wouldn't recommend getting it & more still not from carphone warehouse go direct to your line provider.

Got this phone about 11 months ago & can't wait for that last month to go by, so I can go back to Nokia. The phone must have the worst volume on the ear peace I've ever come across, I can never hear what people are saying. The music player is worth 10 out 10 though, good mp3 player but if you want a phone get a Nokia.

Great phone... I don't carry a cdman nor a camera these days when I am traveling.... The sound clarity is just excellent especially the megabass option.... Camera clarity is good with 2 megapixel .....Usability is cool... No complaints till now..... Thanks Sony Ericsson for such a wonderful phone....

I've had the Sony Ericsson phone for 6 months, & it is rubbish!!!!! I had to take the phone back to repair because all the music kept wiping off! According to the salesman this is very common. I had to rake it back again & again for a lot of different reasons. And the orange stripe looks disgusting.

Great phone, packed with decent features, quick menus, great camera BUT the joystick is shocking. I've had mine for almost a year & it's had to go back to Sony twice to have the joystick repaired. Apparently there is no seal around it!! A few of my friends have had the same problem & the people in the o2 shop said it is very common. This is why I will never be having another Sony again, & always say to everyone else beware of the joysticks!!!!!

The best phone I ever had with the budget that I can afford, it has got fantastic music, easy accessible camera, lot of shortcuts again easy to access, if u r a starter from Nokia then this model options of operating will be a bit uneasy to learn but once u get use to u r goanna love it.

I have used the Nokia 3310, 6610, 6600 & now w800i which serves most of the my needs, taking pictures, listening to music, & as usual talking this phone should be good in signal receiving stuff as I have never felt the single is weak from my side as well as from the caller end too. Right now no plans to change the phone it's very good.

Lovely looking, solid phone. Feels substantial, like it wouldn't scratch or break easily. Best music player on any phone - really really good sound quality & a good equaliser.

Sometimes I find the menus a little sluggish, & also learning to text after using a Nokia was a bit of a learning curve, but it's fine. Get a bit confused sometimes by the fact there is a cancel button as well as a back button - not sure which to use sometimes (this is probably because I have two phones from different manufacturers on the go at the same time).

I had a problem with my memory card crashing the phone so it wouldn't start up, but that's probably just an isolated incident.

The camera is fantastic - I really love that sliding action & the quality of the pictures is excellent.

Overall, after 9 months of ownership, I would say this is a nice phone with lots of features. I personally don't find it as easy to use as a Nokia, but I think if you used it full time, you'd get used to it in no time. It is a good looking phone, which oozes quality & I would recommend it, though mainly because of the fabulous music player & camera.

Great phone, with all required features from an all in one device, camera is great & easy to get photos onto the computer from, can't fault this phone at all for design or features. Let down by the fact that I have had endless problems with the phone switching itself off with the slightest of knocks, like in your pocket or when you put it on the desk. Sent phone back 3 times to be repaired & was not offered a temporary one whilst waiting for mine to come back, way to SE on your customer service by the way. In the end they replaced phone with a refurbished model, had it a week & identical problem has started with this phone now.

Not put off though due for an upgrade this week & am going to go for another Sony Ericsson, as the W850i is not available yet & no one will tell me an expected release date I'm gonna go with the K800i for its camera features, hope the mp3 function on it doesn't let it down...

Have only had this phone for a few days & think it's great. It feels good in the hand & I love the design with the orange & white. The only problem I have with it is the volume could be a little louder when listening to music on the Walkman but other than that it's a great.

The MP3 player on this mobile phone is great with its megabass sound. I am enjoying this phone so much, it is all so simple to use, even for me. I did not even know when I got this phone if I would use half of the functions on it, but believe me I am using them all. I can hardly put the thing down, by boyfriend is less impressed because my phone gets more attention than him & my phone is better than his phone anyway, may trade in the boyfriend but not this phone.

W800i is a very impressive piece of equipment. I have had my phone for a while now & it is a great phone for me. I have had much fun using the camera which includes a built in flash, the picture quality is very good. The battery life is always an issue for me with my previous phones but this battery is the best I have used so far. It is a great phone, thank you so much Sony, I am having fun with it.

These comments may not sound very interesting to most of you, but this mobile happen to save me & my dignity greatly. I went on a night fishing trip with my son, loads of us lads took our boys on this trip during the summer. Unorganised Dad that I am, had heaps of beer, coca cola, crisps even sausage rolls packed but no torch. As it got dark my boy started to panic about not seeing things around us, & this fantastic phone that I treated myself too, solve a all my problems with its built in torch. It saved me looking stupid & my boy thinks I am a cool Dad after all. Sorry about the story but the phone is perfect.
