My W760i was! Working fine but then I went to charge & its saying I need to use an original battery, but it is the original battery LOL, so now I have just ordered a new battery so fingers crossed it might charge. I have also had problems in where I do not receive texts & calls. Rubbish PHONE!

Worst phone I have ever owned. I have had all the problems listed here in spades. Finally wouldn't start up at all & was only 13 months old. Sony Ericsson didn't even respond to my email. Maybe 13 months is a long time for some but I have been spoilt with great phones in the past. When my W760 died I put the SIM straight back into my 7 year old Nokia with the original battery (I kept the battery charged & used it as a wake up alarm because I couldn't rely on the W760's) & not a problem.

I have had this phone for over 6 months & I love it! The only thing I would say it has wrong with it is it doesn't have a flash for the camera which is why I have knocked down the features but the camera is so clear I would definitely recommend this phone! Its memory is amazing, it has so much memory for messages pictures & videos on there. It doesn't turn off & on like my old phone, ignore everyone this phone is amazing!

There are LOTS of things wrong with this phone. In fact there is pretty much only one thing that Sony Ericsson got right with this phone, it has all the numbers on it from 0 to 1! That's it. The only thing. The rest is rubbish!

I have, & have had from day one, exactly the same issues as the majority of other people on here;

- It freezes when I am texting, calling using any of the features, in fact whenever it feels like it.

- I lose sound on calls but the other person can still hear me.

- The alarm doesn't always work. I find it only seems to work if I have it on recurrent & remind it every night what time I've told it to go off at by setting it again. If I just set it without it being on recurrent it doesn't always go off & if I rely on the recurrent feature, surprise surprise, it doesn't go off.

- The reminder feature often doesn't work.

- The screen sometimes goes fuzzy & I have to turn it off & back on again.

- All my personal features (ringtone, wallpaper, screensaver etc) randomly disappear & the only way to get them back is to take the memory card out, put it back in again, slide open then close the phone again.

- It takes the most ridiculously long time to turn off & even longer to turn back on again.

- It doesn't have a flash or a light on it. & for all you technophiles who will say, 'Well it's a music phone not a camera phone', it has a camera on it so why not put a light on it as well? Before I had the bag of rubbish that is the W760i, I used to have a W850i & that had a fantastic light on it!

I never had ANY problem whatsoever with my W850i. I loved it! I only changed it when I upgraded my contract. Now I can't find my W850i otherwise I'd use that again & take the most extreme pleasure from smashing the hell out of the worst phone that has ever been made. The W760i!

& thanks to Shamaar's review which says, quote, 'When people complain about how the phone freezes & how the phone doesn't start that is because they have broken their own phone'. I am so glad that somebody is so in touch with other users & can (perhaps by telepathy maybe) tell that everyone whose phone isn't working properly (& there are a lot of us) have ALL broken our phones. Had I have known Shamaar, I would have sort your psychic expertise on so many other areas of my life!

Really hopeless, this phone.

Amazing features & design, but I dropped it only once & the thing died!

The phone repair guys couldn't do anything about it too.

In that way, the W810i rocks, seeing as I dropped it at least 5 times on various surfaces, & nothing happened to it.

Thinking of C510. Hope it's better.

OK, all the people gave many negative comments let me explain.

You see when Sony gave this phone to the public, the fresh batch was all faulty (this is what I believe & what I have been told by the maintenance dude).

So when the random turning off & fuzzy screen began to really bug me, I took it to him & he fixed it all for me (for free of course because my warranty still didn't run out).

Now my phone works perfectly, absolutely no problems at all, also, download the update software from the Sony website for constant updates, it really helps.

The Walkman is excellent & motion sensor is really good, navigation is excellent too.

But, sadly enough, no Wi-Fi, which is why I have to give it away & I don't want to waste all my money on 3G services.

Have been on a contract with various mobile companies for many years, up until the W760i I had never taken a phone back to any shop for repair or replacement. Have had my phone for nearly a year now & had to take it in to be repaired or changed 3 times now.

- 1st time my phone just died & wouldn't switch on.
- 2nd time my slide wouldn't work along with a few buttons.
- 3rd time all the keypad buttons on the left do not work.

In my opinion the features & music player are excellent but with all these frequent errors I have had I would advise anyone to steer clear of this handset.

The worst phone I have ever had! I am already on my forth one in 6 months (due to being on contract I can't get rid of it) & they are all the same. Switches itself off whenever which is really annoying, alarm never works - have to set about 3 alarms on it so as not to run the risk of losing my job, freezes constantly when texting or on a call, which is extremely annoying as when it freezes on a call the person who I am talking to can hear me but I can hear nothing for around 20 seconds. I know people have said this phone has really cool features & is nice to look at, but what's the point if it can't even do the most basic of mobile functions? I would recommend no one buy this phone as it's not worth the money.

Great trendy looking phone, love quite a few things about it, but it was trouble from day one for me. Opened it as a birthday present, & found out the 9 wasn't lit up. Got it in September 2008, & I am on my third phone of this kind! The charger stops working after a while, (& it's not the chargers that stopped working as I tried many) it randomly restarts itself, freezes itself. Would advise you to get this phone!

Where do I start? Such an amazing phone! I got this a couple of weeks ago & boy was I pleased. My first Sony Ericsson & I've got to say this has impressed me a lot.

PROS.

- Great media player.
- Work very well.
- Organizer helpful.
- Auto rotate works extremely well.
- Keypad easy to press; easier to text.
- Sound quality is great.
- Light sensor saves battery.
- Shake control works perfectly fine with no hassle.

CONS.

- Some networks don't provide GPS, so ask your provider before you buy it.
- 3.2MP camera isn't rubbish, but isn't good. Average quality.

The phone is sometimes slow, but that's such a minor problem, as this only occurs like once every 2 days. I would strongly recommend this phone to everyone who loves multimedia & also someone who likes their phone to be stylish.

THIS PHONE IS AMAZING! Where Do I start?

The phone just looks amazing the yellow & gold is a fantastic touch to make it stand out.

Features, This has everything. From a Walkman to a dancing Elvis. It has the motion sensing which can be used to play games like Need For Speed, change the volume or track in the Walkman, make Elvis dance & even play the drums. The phone also has a built in GPS system which can tell you how far you have travelled from when you started for example if you were running.

Usability, It is really simple to use & even gives you some hints & tips on using the phone the first time round.

All in all a brilliant phone which you can never get tired off.

This has got to be the worst phone I ever brought. Last year in October I brought it from Argos purely because it had a nice design (I am a fool for nice looking phone). The first week it was perfect but after that it all went downhill. I sent texts to my mates & none of them received them. I didn't know the phone was to blame. As well as that it kept on turning off during calls. I found out after the holidays that my mates had thought I was ignoring them & I had thought they had ignored me. So I decided that the phone was to blame. Luckily Argos gives you a 28 day guarantee. So I took it back & told them the problem. They didn't believe me so I took it down to Carphone Warehouse where they had a look at it & gave me a note explaining it to Argos. Argos took it back after that. Also the music volume on this phone is very rubbish due to where the speakers are located between the buttons on the front. I also recommend you don't buy your mobiles at Argos.

I have had this phone since last October & it has good wrong twice.

The screen freezes, the alarm won't work, sometimes I can't get calls & the screen goes blank & takes ages to come back on.

Every time I send it back, they send it back fixed & then a couple of months it goes wrong & all the games you buy get taken off & you have to pay for them again!

Apart from the faults it is a good phone.

Having had the K800i I decided to get another Sony Ericsson. This is the worst phone I have ever had. Having paid £189 for the phone I wouldn't expect to have near enough the amount of problems I am having.

The phone constantly freezes no matter what you are doing, be it writing a message or simply going through your menu. Some of the time the only way to get the phone working again is by switching it off & in some cases it won't even switch off & I've then had to take the back off & the battery out. A more recent problem I've started having is it keeps coming up on the screen saying inactive SIM & switching itself off then back on & I then need to put the phone off myself for it to operate normally again.

The phone doesn't even need to be in use & switches itself on & off & also the alarm doesn't always go off when set.

All in all it's a great looking phone but the worst ever phone I have had. I won't be buying another Sony Ericsson.

Overall, it's an OK phone, but there are some things that REALLY annoy me!

- The alarm on this thing almost got me sacked, no kidding! I had it set for 6:40am on recurrent, but some mornings, it just refused to go off. This would happen about 4 times a week, & I've had to resort to using an alarm clock, even though I've used a phone alarm for the last 5 years.

- The phone turns itself off & on again randomly. Even if it's just sitting on the side. This happens on average. Once a day. Sometimes more. It's not a big problem, but it does get annoying, if it happens when you're using the phone.

- It freezes a lot, especially during phone calls. Normally for between 5 to 10 seconds, which gets annoying after a while, especially during an important call. If you look at the call timer, you'll see that it's stopped, & then it will jump 8 seconds or so, when it un-freezes.

Other than that, it's a good phone, & the Walkman on it is really clear, as is the video player.

Sony Ericsson needs to do something about all these products with faults!

I bought this phone last June & for the first couple of months, there seemed to be no issues.

HOWEVER just before Christmas it started with some problems, I am now about to take it back for the third time!

First time, phone was cutting out in mid call, switching itself off but wouldn't come up for ages. I followed the instructions on my service providers website but to no avail. It went away & got a system upgrade.

Second time, phone didn't cut out immediately but decided to develop a fuzzy screen every day & the only way to stop it was to switch it off & on. After the 7th day I decided enough was enough & took it back in for repair. Went in system upgrade & a new connector (no idea what difference this would make).

Third time lucky, phone now has decided to freeze up all the time. Doesn't matter what I am doing going into contacts, mail it just freezes & the only way to start it up, switch it off!

My service provider says that they can't do anything as yet & I have to keep sending it in! I am sure Sony will sort it out, NOT.

Apart from the above, it's a nice looking phone!

Hi, I read all this reviews & I can tell that this phone is the best from all Sony Ericsson K & C range why? because K have problem with software, the touch screen does not always work when you press OK the scroll is not for quick moving, & C range has more problems include the same like K.

The best are all W walkmans without touch screen without light for camera, & without all these silly upgrades like Windows. A phone is a phone not a laptop or normal camera if you want to do super photo pictures take a normal camera, if you want to use windows with all futures keys use a laptop, it is easy. I use phone to send text, pick up calls, make calls, listening to music on my way, & I am using my camera to do picture just on my way or because it's a surprise.

With my phone I haven't any problems a had K, & C, & never again. W760i is the best.

I bought this phone just after Christmas as a replacement for my K800i (which was looking a little run down.) Initially I was impressed by the design (& the fact that it was a lot thinner than my K800i). But after several weeks I realised that the camera features were not as good as my old Sony. It has no flash or auto focus. On the K800 you only have to slide open the lens cover & the camera's active. On the W760 you have to open the slide then select camera from the menu (or shortcut). Also the handy music button on the side of the phone won't function if the sliders closed/key pad locked. (It does on the K800). So, in short if you're thinking of getting this as an upgrade for your chunky K800i, don't bother. The Shake function's a fun novelty but not worth the extra cash. Also mine has cut out several times & hasn't rang/vibrated on a few occasions as some of the other reviewers have suffered. Needless to say I am back to using my K800i.

Love the phone, hate the phone!

This is my second phone of this model & I am still having the same problems as before. As a few people have said it tends to freeze for no reason & the sound goes on the whole phone for call, music the lot. It has also starting saying inactive SIM & resetting itself for no apparent reason.

Other than this it is a great phone. If only Sony could sort the problem out!

I recently brought this phone & I think its design is outstanding it has really cool features like shake control Walkman GPRS etc. Usability is good if not very good overall this phone is 8 out of 10 if you want my opinion you might be wondering why I haven't given it high marks in features & usability the main reason is that you can always improve on it & plus there are some other phones that have better quality so those marks are for them. But my conclusion would be very positive about this phone, it can make your daily life very simple no problems at & it is reasonably priced some people that write reviews don't think they just give any marks with no valid explanation well I am not one of them fantastic model the w760i I would recommend this to someone really busy & on the go.

This phone is an excellent phone because it has all the features that anybody could want. So it's not just a good phone its outstanding because you never get bored. It's worth the money! When people complain about how the phone freezes & how the phone doesn't start that is because they have broken their own phone. Once you make sure that you look after your phone then you have the best phone on the market!

This phone looks really nice on the outside, Walkman features, & the rest of it. But it is also good in the sense that it has a lot of storage space, better than average camera resolution (3.2 MP) & pretty loud in built speakers. Also, it has SensMe, shake sensors & also special gaming keys.

The only worry I have about this phone is that the alarms don't work well, sometimes it works & sometimes it just doesn't.

Other than that, I am not too sure why this Sony Ericsson model has been given such a low rating. It's a really good phone!

(On the Sony Ericsson website, it says that this model is supposed to have the BestPic setting. Where is it?)

Got this as a free upgrade from a Samsung D600e.

Good points.
- Funky Walkman with loads of playlist features & auto rotate (gimmicks but nice).
- Camera modes.
- Nice size screen & good quality for images.

Bad Points.
- Battery is useless, runs down very quickly.
- Camera is only good for taking photos of objects that don't move, also no flash.
- Navigation to stored files is silly.
- The keys are strange to use.
- The slide is tough & not easy to flick up to take calls.

I've had this phone from August & had numerous problems with it! My first handset broke after only 20 days!

Problems being it was freezing during calls I couldn't hear the person talking but they could hear me, it would freeze during a text & playing music, it would turn itself off for at least 5 minutes at a time it always said inactive SIM eventually the sound completely stopped working it didn't ring, vibrate or anything so I sent it back unfortunately I had to take the same handset again I have now had it for 2 months.

I really loved the phone so managed to put up with all the problems that come with it even after trying the software update, the phone is now completely dead & won't come on at all! Thankfully I have backed up all my numbers & everything from the phone!

Overall I would say don't BUY THIS PHONE! As someone else said if Sony fixed the problems it would be a great phone!

I love this phone, but I hate it so much at the same time. The alarm never works (I set it on recurrent, but still need to reset it every night otherwise it doesn't go off), the keypad freezes far too often, in fact the whole phone tends to freeze in the middle of conversations so that I can't hear anyone, but they can still hear me saying what, are you there, I also have a workmate with the same phone who is having the same troubles! If Sony could fix theses problems I would absolutely love this phone, I have already had my phone exchanged once but have come to realise that the problems I was having with my first phone is in fact just overall problems with this model!

I've never hated an inanimate object before, but I hate this phone! How can it be worse than its predecessor the W580i?

It has a better screen resolution & double the memory, after that, it's a feature packed device with no working features.

The alarm is going to get me sacked. It never works.

As doesn't the music player, I look very silly singing along to the sounds of intermittent silence.

The Internet browser has no support for java script or mpegs, avis. Which makes surfing the Internet very very dull. Mind you, it crashes after most refreshes anyway, so hardly spoils my viewing pleasure.

Why do I want a subscription based Sat Nav? I know where I am.

I have now done the update (don't see why I should have to), it's fixed the alarm issue.

My boss may well be pleased. I am certainly not.

This Phone is Rubbish, it worked fine for the first month then after that.

- The alarm would go off when it wanted to not when I wanted it to.
- The music player would stutter at random intervals.
- It would call my friends of its own accord even when the phone was left at home.
- I would get SIM Inactive when I finished a call, at which point the phone would turn itself off.
- If I turned the phone off it would take 10 minutes to turn on again.
- The lock function doesn't work, Period.
- Worst of all, I've just found out that the phone has just spent the last month connected to the Internet, I have never used this facility on the phone as I have perfectly good connections elsewhere that are free to me.

Fortunately this phone has now died, unfortunately O2 are sending me another one!

Having been very impressed with the reliability & usability of the Sony Ericsson W810i, I upgraded to this phone, wanting to stay with what I thought was a good & reliable make (Sony Ericsson). How wrong I was. From the word go, this phone has been unreliable, turning itself during conversations with people or freezing, highly embarrassing when you're on the phone to potential employers! I text quite fast, but this was not a problem with my W810i. The W760i however freezes on a regular basis. I am now sending it back after it refusing to turn itself on, even though I have charged it fully, & looked after it really well since I first got it. Although it is a lovely looking phone (I have the silver one) & has tonnes of memory, I have now lost all my texts, numbers & photos due to the fact the stupid thing refuses to turn on, even when I have treated it with kid gloves. Steer well clear would be my advice!

Another problem I had was my battery, your talking a full charge nearly every night. Jack of all trades, master of none. It has an impressive feature list but.

- Music playback is a waste of time, unless you like your music to stop & stutter all the time.
- The keyboard has good feedback on all the keys except button 2, there is no feedback at all unless I press the top right corner.
- Signal reception, if I am indoors & take it out of my pocket, I generally see Emergency Calls only.
- The media browser, my biggest pet hate with this phone. Why have Sony Ericsson decided that when I browse my music I also want all the ringtones & sound files included. The same happens with the pictures, I have about 20 pictures in my phone but the browser shows 380 plus, Sony Ericsson have decided I will also want to browse the pictures in the offline web page I've stored on the memory card.
- Change tracks & volume by shaking or lifting the phone, gimmicks only, it's easier to use the buttons on the side.
- Video playback, plays about 2 formats but hard to know for certain as.
- The manual is useless.

Unfortunately I am stuck with this for another 16 months, very disappointing.

This phone is a massive disappointment & I'd advise you again getting it, or any other Walkman phone on the market.

Sony Ericsson obviously haven't taken time to check for bugs, just released it as quickly as possible.

It restarts itself very frequently with the message inactive sim when there is clearly nothing wrong with my sim card. It also gives me the emergency calls only message on the front screen & network coverage does not return until you turn the phone off & turn it back on.

I had exactly the same problem with a previous phone I had, the w910i. It is also a Walkman phone which leads me to believe that Walkman phones are not competent for usage. I strongly advise you to decide against getting this phone if you are thinking about it.

I have owned 6 Sony Ericsson handsets to date, unfortunately previous handsets did this.

Secondly, the music player stutters. That is, it will stop completely for anything from a fraction to 2 to 3 seconds (come on Sony, you invented the Walkman, this really should not be a problem for you to get right, after all it worked fine on my W880i).

Then there's the recurrent alarm function. You set it to wake you up for work Monday to Friday, yet it randomly decides to take days off & not bother to wake you! Most recently I had to reset it to wake me on Monday morning as it did not self initiate on the Sunday. (Again this is a function that should not raise any issues, as it has worked perfectly well on previous Sony handsets. In fact I continue to use my W880i as backup).

I would therefore not recommend this handset to anyone who wants a phone that they can rely on. At present there are no software updates for this handset & I am not even sure if the engineers at Sony Ericsson are actively trying to resolve these issues. (At least five of these handsets have been delivered to my home & proved to be faulty, so there must be others out there).

Sorry Sony, must try harder.

I am sorry to say this phone is a bit of a disappointment.

The phone looks great & personally I think it's the best looking handset on the market. However, I can find very little else positive to say about it.

The processor in the phone is incredibly slow, if you are a fast texter not only will you have problems with the buttons but also you will be too quick for the processor. It constantly freezes for 3 to 4 seconds which I find quite frustrating. Also some texts have taken excessive time to be delivered & received but that could be down to the service provider.

I've had problems with the signal. I've lost numerous calls suddenly for no reason & I can watch the signal go from 5 bars to zero bars while sat on the sofa! I appreciate could be a service provider issue but I am suspecting it's the handset.

It's a shame, was very excited about this phone but it has been a disappointing. It's being replaced today so am really hoping I've just had a dodgy handset.

Hello, I have the phone for a week now & I must tell how much I appreciate it.

- the autonomy is the best I have ever had (my previous was a Samsung SGH 500).

- the screen is outstanding.

- Lot of applications & very useful tools.

- the radio (with the multimedia cable) is the best I have ever experienced on a phone or MP3 player. Before, I tried at my workplace a sansa E260. Nothing in comparison how much the reception of the 760i is better.

- GPS with Google map & Wayfinder are working pretty well & fast. The screen is precise enough & finally a good size to get nice & readable maps. (Be aware that it brings also a good data consumption).

The only thing I see that could be ameliorated is the dialling keys, real plastic feeling & a bit inaccurate when writing a SMS. I often push the wrong key as the keyboard is a one piece element.

Anyway, the rest is over passing this & I highly recommend this great mobile phone.

GPS works well, need to give it 2 to 3 minutes to detect satellites (we live out in the country). But once detected works well. Camera is good, 3.2 Megapixel is good enough for general snaps. Still playing with it & will write a more complete view in a week or so.

Looks a great phone, I am getting it tomorrow for my birthday! (can't wait).

Shame about no 5 MP camera, but hey, 3.2 MP with cyber shot is good enough anyway, the gaming system looks good, & as I am a music maniac the sense me will be good, as well as the flicking to change song.

REMEMBER this phone has no camera shutter & shoots in portrait mode only, 3.2MP or not it's not going to be the one for those cyber shot standards like the k810i or k800i.

Generally saying, when you are going to buy a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, you don't have to worry about anything like features, design or durability. You just have to worry & test its speakers & how loud is it.

If W760i speakers are loud enough to be heard on streets I am definitely going to buy it with no questions.

The W760i has now been release in the USA meaning we are soon to follow! Early June! It costs $405 unlocked so in the UK that's £200 but knowing big companies they'll make it expensive for us so expect £250!

I think that it is great! & I am waiting for it to come out! But I think that the speakers are a bit ugly, no not ugly, but I think that they chould have put them on a nicer place, but it is a bit charming, & it makes the phone special & different. From D.

This phone is supposedly coming out on the 15th May (in the USA), so it should be out in the UK shortly after that. & on pay as you go shouldn't cost more than £250 (about the same release price as the W910i, but that has depreciated over the past six months & can be bought for £120, so I'd advise, wait a couple of months, by then you'll know what it's problems are & it'll be cheaper! )

I've always thought that this brand was absolutely FANTASTIC & after seeing this phone, I want it so badly! However, I've been reading some previous reviews for the W910i & they are SO terrible! I am very worried that this phone will be like them as well!

I hope Sony Ericsson do their job extremely well for this phone. I will be checking reviews for it a few months after it is released & I seriously hope they are good ones. It's so hard to find a phone with good features, all the necessary things you need & a good design with the perfect matching colours. I put a lot of time & thought into choosing my phones because I rarely buy any so they HAVE to be PERFECT. Me choosing a phone is like getting married. For me, it's like forever unless they do something bad to you.

OH PLEASE be a fantastic high quality phone!

This phone certainly looks the part I can't wait for it to be released, the only thing that I think is wrong with it is that it does not have a camera light or flash light which I find really useful.
