Well it was a good phone for me around 1 & half years. But now it is a headache to me. Giving so many software errors, such as once I send a message it pop ups with my shortcuts menu, sometimes Theme colours get changed especially the font colours. & it's hardware is giving me trouble, such as camera is showing some horizontal lines in the view & those lines get printed in photos, charger port is so loose have try a lot to bring it to charging mode, even the hands free is not easy to connect to that port. So please avoid buying this model. It is good in first 1.5 years. Not good for long time usage.

Best phone in the entire world. Had it for at least three years now, it's been thrown across the park, stamped on, etc.

Acts as a torch, everything. Half of the back has come off because it's been used so much yet it still works!

Best phone ever!

Well for years on end I have been a solid Sony Ericsson user. They are fantastic.
I first got the w610i on contract & to begin with I didn't like the buttons & now I am used to them I really don't mind.

It holds a lot of music so great for music lovers. Sound is amazing, camera quality is decent. I LOVE this phone.

Coming on 2 years now I am forced to get a new one after the millions of times it has been dropped, kicked, bashed & beaten the screen has finally went a bit iffy. I have a big blue blob at the bottom right of the screen. That's been there for a few months now. Also having dropped it in water a few times the speaker on calls is a bit funny but hey at least it's still working.

So deciding to invest in a new phone. Don't want anything fancy so heading for the similar looking but nicer buttoned w302 (review will follow!). But for anyone interested in this phone, I'd say go for it. It's tough, battery lasts ages, good memory, good sound, funky menu options & themes. Love, love, love it!

I've been using Nokia since 2001 & my latest Nokia is 5310 XpressMusic (currently serve as my backup phone after used it for 6 months). Wanting to try out other brand, I accidentally bought Sony Ericsson S500i. I only used it for 3 weeks then sold it off because I wasn't able to get used to it & I felt that the phone wasn't meant for me as a whole. Nevertheless, I had experience using Sony Ericsson in terms of the menu, navigation & features.

Wasn't satisfied with Sony Ericsson S500i, I wanted a Walkman phone (to compare with my Nokia 5310 XM) that suits me so after I went through a couple of reviews, I decided to buy W610i. Just bought this model last Saturday, I chose Satin Black colour as I find Plush Orange colour is too striking for my eyes. The Satin Black is more elegant in my opinion. Long story short, here are my pros & cons of W610i.

PROS.
- Stylish design (thin silver keypads).
- Looks elegant (satin black colour).
- Good sound quality (Mega Bass is the bomb! ).
- Allow multitasking (able to listen to Walkman during texting, read emails, web browsing etc).
- Produce decent outdoor photos with its 2MP camera & 2 tiny flash (also serve as torch light) & autofocus & self mirror feature.
- Great entertainment applications (radio, MusicDJ, VideoDJ, PhotoDJ, sound recorder).
- Able to play MP4 files (audio & video).
- PlayNow & TrackID features.
- Walkman & Shortcut buttons are really helpful.
- Volume rocker act as phone status feature which shows profile (normal, silent, flight etc), model (W610i), phone memory (73MB free), memory stick (I.e. 128MB free) & battery life (I.e. 95%).
- C button (clear button) really helps to delete faster.

CONS.
- Thin silver keypads might be a problem for users with big thumb but I believe users will get used to it so I suggest test it out first before you decide to buy.
- I don't like the fact that 3 preinstalled themes in W610i (citybeat, gSharp & scribblebeats) will vibrate when we press the navigation keypads in the menu feature. I know that this is one of Sony Ericsson features but it's just so annoying. What's the point anyway? So I use Walkman theme instead which disables the vibration in the menu feature.
- Unlike Nokia which allow user to create a group of contacts & assign a specific ringtone for it, Sony Ericsson only allow user to create a group of contacts for messaging purpose. Sony Ericsson only allow user to assign specific ringtone to specific contact.
- It doesn't show the total amount of messages unlike Nokia models. Same goes to the total amount of applications etc.
- Not operable without SIM card unlike my Nokia 5310 XM.
- No 3G.

Conclusion, if you are looking for a phone with good sound (it's a Walkman phone! ), decent photo quality (only for snapshot purpose) & without 3G, I would recommend Sony Ericsson W610i. But before you decide to buy, test the keypads first to make sure that you will get used to it. Otherwise, this model is not for you.

I wouldn't say this phone is brilliant because after 6 months it was rubbish. The back kept falling off, kept freezing, wouldn't charge up unless you had to fiddle about with the charger & it would switch off all the time. The camera isn't that good I found it blurry to be honest.

First of all I will like to say, anybody looking to buy this the best colours are black & Orange. I have had this phone for about 9 months I got for my birthday I would have rated the usability much it is just because a friend of mines uses it a lot but the keypad, it's just strips of metal or something for keys & that's really annoying for her, she has to text or dial with her fingernails (recommended people who have small fingers). I have had this phone for about 9 months as I mention before & up to now I am still finding out new things about it. Best looking phone in the world.

Such a brilliant phone! Really love the colour of it, people say it's so me!

Music quality amazing.

Only problems include.
- Battery life quite poor.
- Dents & scratches so easily!
- The port where you put the headset & speakers & charger, becomes loose & can cause the charger not to work unless you hold it in properly.
- Sometimes (not very often but I hear most Sony Ericsson's do this) turns itself off occasionally but does come back on afterwards.

AMAZING because IT STORES SO MANY MESSAGES & hundreds of pictures, & takes really good photos!

I had no major problems with this phone (just the jamming with the 4&6) but recently it jams & freezes CONSTANTLY, it's an absolute nightmare. If it's happening to you I suggest master resetting it (helps a little) but even then mine has continued to deteriorate, it has been for a total of about 3 weeks & now won't even turn on anymore. Just a white screen, very aggravating, so only buy it if you plan to have it for like 6 months or so.

I bought this phone today & I have already got used to it. The best thing about Sony Ericsson's is that they are all based on the same layout menu same settings same don't brake much. They are all in all great phones especially this one. I was going to get the 6500 slide from Nokia but at £179.99 it was £100.00 extra as I paid £79.99 at Argos on Vodafone a real bargain best phone ever made simple, beautiful, great features, fun!

Well done Sony Ericsson!

GREAT, SIMPLE PHONE TO WORK, GOOD FOR OLD FOLK WHO WANT A CAMERA PHONE BUT ARE GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE WORKING OUT HOW TO USE IT. Sony Ericsson HAS DONE A GREAT JOB ON THIS!

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT REALLY BUT I HAVE TO COMPLAIN ON SOMETHING! I don't LIKE. YOU can't ZOOM IN WHEN YOUR CAMERA MODE IS IN 2MP. I HATE the Orange BACKING ON the PHONE. IT'S A BIT BULKY & HEAVY BUT GOOD POCKET SIZED. THATS ALL I don't LIKE BUT IT GREAT EVEN IF IT'S BEEN IN the WASHING MACHINE! OR BEEN LEFT OUT IN the RAIN LOL!

It's a good phone but it I am on my second & it has broke again. It does have a very good design & it is a good looking phone. The features on this phone is nothing good its basic nothing you can't show off about. Usability is very good it's easy to use & it's hard to get confused on what to do. The speakers are very good on mega bass but turn it up max & it's very crackly. Phones memory is good 60MB & a memory stick which can have about 120 songs.

Reading reviews most people seem to have a good time with this phone but I did not it freezes then shut down & takes a long time to start back up.

I bought a Sony Ericsson W610i a week ago, whenever I put on the MegaBass option, the output level of the song goes down. Mainly when there is a lot of bass in the song. The volume lowers when there is a bass punch made in the MP3s by the Base drum & Bass guitar.

Is this what you call the Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS)?

It is very frustrating when the volume of the song goes whoo & whahh, depending on the punch.

I've had this phone for about 8 months & so far love it except for the buttons which are a little annoying, but I got used to them & it doesn't bother me anymore.

It has had an annoying glitch occasionally with the 4, 6, 0 & left nav buttons which stop working for no apparent reason.

I notice this seems to be a common problem among other reviewers.

I was reading reviews here for the K550i which my daughter wants for her birthday & found a post which mentions the same button problems & a solution. Please SEE & read Paul from Ireland's post.

Anyway I tried this with my W610i & it is in fact the cause of the problem. Any pressure on the camera button will cause the 4, 6, 0 & right nav key to stop working. Try it & see.

I hope this helps those of you who have had this problem & thank you to Paul from Ireland who posted his very helpful findings.

Cheers :).

I don't know why people think that the W810i is better, let's see the W810i is fatter, uses old technology, has worse themes, & just looks like it's a brick painted with Walkman logos on it, This W610i is slim, has a GREAT keypad! I can use it fine as can my friends so stop whining! It's camera is the BEST from any Walkman phone & I've used 5 Walkmans including the new W890i! It's themes especially gSharp are just outstanding, the Walkman is a delight to look at & use, yes it may not be as good to look at as the W890i but that's irrelevant. TrackID is great, texting is easy fast & calling is brilliant. This is one of the ONLY Walkman phones to support the flash. If you think the W810i beats this baby then you need your head testing! Stop listening to the whiney people who say oohhh they keypads bad IT ISN'T! It's better than the W890i, W880i & CERTAINLY BETTER THAN the W810i! Like the previous reviewer said, GO to the shop & try it! It's available now. BEST Walkman EVER!

What don't have anything to say other than WOW. This phone just rocks. I was about to buy a W810i. But I saw this baby & done some research at the Internet. I heard so much bad about this phone. But anyway since I was so much heard about its superb advantage over w810i except camera (who cares for mobile camera anyway because I have my Canon A720IS Digital camera) I finally decided to go for this baby.

But after I bought this mobile, I just love it. It has all the good features with Walkman 2.0, A2dp, Better Screen (TFD, at least it uses less power so you can have more talk time). It has better memory (m2) & all. It also got a faster processor & Multi tasking abilities. That's the best feature I liked. Also has flash lite support.

It has got good battery backup. I am impressed. Also I don't know what they say about the keypad. But I just love them as its perfect for my hand. It's perfect for my hands. It feels so comfortable for me. So if you waste thinking about the keypads, I suggest you to go to a showroom & use for yourself & see if it is good or not.

So as a conclusion, I could say, I love every aspect of this phone. I would recommend it to anyone. Hope this helps.

I think the w610i really lacks of battery & Walkman 2.0 player is rubbish it repeats itself, blanks the screen & the music stops playing the same thing happened with my cousin w610i the features & the design is hot. I only had this phone 2 weeks now. I had my k550i 4 months now with no problems but I sold it I am such a fool. Now my w610i is spoilt which is wasting a pack of dam money. I spent 2200 dollars on the w610i.

It was submerged in water multiple times & dropped multiple times & still worked perfectly, I thought it was broken but I just replaced the battery & it was fine.

I only replaced it because I wanted something new, a good average cheapish phone.

I have had 4 of these phones from Orange in the past 10 months. The latest has failed after just 10 days. I keep getting serious error, contact Sony Ericsson, stop using phone immediately.

In the time before this, the phone gets hot & starts running very slowly, often sticking on certain pages, & the speaker buzzes loudly. I am giving up on this phone model altogether now as I have no faith in its reliability. I am very pleased that all you other reviewers seem to have had trouble free usage. Long may it last!

I had this phone for a couple of days now & am sending it back to Carphone Warehouse. Yes it is a nice looking phone but the keys are ridiculous. I have small fingers but the number 4 key is particularly irritating to press & because of where the camera is located, sometimes activates the camera when pressing number 4. The buttons are not well spaced apart & the navigation keys are awful. They are very uncomfortable to use.

The camera is OK, not great but OK. The best thing on this phone is the Walkman player & as always Sony Ericsson have great menus which are user friendly. So in conclusion, if you want a small phone with nice music sound quality & don't mind ridiculously small keys, then go for this phone.

I had this phone for around 6 months. There may be some glitches with the phone, but mostly can be solved.

One reviewer says his or her w610 can't support WMA audio file, what I want to say mine supports WMA. Maybe his was a fake as there was fake w610, I did saw them. Avoid buying from the Internet & seemingly irresistible offers. The fake & the real ones had little differences. Even I hardly detected the difference.

Camera cannot zoom unless in VGA mode. Other camera phone like the w810 allow zoom up to 4X in all picture size, this are fake' zooming which is obtained by digitally enlarging the image captured by the camera. If you observe close enough using a computer picture viewer, you can find the quality has severely deteriorated, not obvious to be seen from the 176X220 (0.039mega pixel) screens. View the picture in landscape mode in file manager & zoom using the volume button (up to 32X) & save as Large. Furthermore the quality of the camera obviously can't compare to digital camera. If it does, what is the point of buying a digital camera? In fact the camera on w610 wins when compared to many other more expensive, high end phones.

Phone lags. Clear off messages & unwanted media files that will cause burden on the phone processor. Upgrading the memory card to 1GB plus also load the phone. If not needed, stick back to its original 512MB card. If phone error occurs after certain file has been uploaded (especially Java games downloaded using Internet), delete it. Phone might go to white screen & restart when sending data through infra red connection is interrupted (e.g. the receiver cancels the transfer) or when phone connection reset.

Difficulty in using the USB file transfer 'Error: USB device not recognised'. Prior to connecting the USB, move the plug that has been connected to your phone slightly upwards & downwards a few times. Often the socket on the phone will be blocked by dust, thus preventing a good connection between the phone & the computer. Clean the USB port as well if it has not been used for a long time.

Cracking of the back cover. I dropped my phone once from a moving bicycle (Luckily no car was following) & all it has is a few minor scratches. If your phone cracks, I recommend you stick back to Nokia 3310.

My listing might be not complete, but as you see the problems related to the phone can usually be solved. (Except if you had been purposely boycotting the phone, I had no comments) or that you had been too rough with the phone (Pressing very hard on the buttons).

The phone is good & light. I had the W850i which I found to be bulky & poor battery life, opposite to W610i. The video playback quality was better in W850. What this phone is missing is the 3G capability. Also the keypad is fiddly.

I thought the music quality is good, but the 2GB storage capacity is not enough. So need to carry spare flash memory to fit all your video clips & music.

What an awful phone. It's been nothing but a nightmare since I bought it 3 months ago. In that time, I've had it repaired 3 times & replaced 4 times. Yes, FOUR times. & it has now broken again. It seems the workmanship is really shoddy, judging by other reader's comments, some people seem to have no problems, but others, like me, nothing but trouble.

On every phone I've had, the 4 key sticks & so you can't type a 4, g, h or I. Intensely annoying when you're trying to write a text in a hurry as it can take half an hour.

Then there is the problem with the last two, people phone me, or I phone them, but as far as I can hear (nothing), I am not connected. They hear me fine at the other end but I am unable to make or receive even the simplest call & expect to hear anything.

The phone just does not work, end of story. & Vodafone claim total ignorance & refuse to replace it with something else for me. I am totally unimpressed.

I got this phone for about two weeks now & it is really cool. I started getting problems in the sounds while using the supplied ear phones, it's getting choppy especially to high pitched & RnB & rock songs. I would take the ear phone out & plugs it back in & it works well again. I also tried taking it out from megabass mode to fix. But at times it would come back again so I have to restart the phone. I have not downloaded the updates from Sony yet though so I will try doing that first & maybe that will solve that problem. Other than that, this phone is very cool. Superb!

- the camera is OK for me. Got better pictures & long recorded videos. Nice flash light (photo light), will help much when you're walking alone in the dark.
- the music is very cool when in bass mode (when I am not getting that problem mentioned above).
- the themes are cool, downloadable.
- Got no problem synchronizing it with any PC.
- Go get this one.
- Nice & sleek.
- Too good to have, & so better grab one now.

I've had my W610i for a week now & I love it. It's the silver & black version. My last phone was a K510i & I upgraded because I wanted (a) more memory to store music & (b) a flash for the camera. I looked at the W580i (good but no flash), the W810i (too chunky) & the W880i (too expensive & no flash).

Memory - Removable 512MB M2 Micro card currently holds 86 of my tunes & still has 137 MB free. Sony Eric's website says 'supports up to 2GB' but you can get 4 GB M2 cards now. Shame these cards cost twice the price of equivalent SD cards.

Walkman - the W610i's Walkman feature gives you a cool 'Family Tree' view through Artists & Albums to Tracks. You can bypass any level if you want to. You can build playlists of tracks to suit your different moods. The phone has dedicated buttons for Volume up/down & Play/Pause. The Nav button gives FF/Rewind/Prev/Next track when in Walkman mode. You get a 5-band equaliser with 5 presets & 1 manual. The sound is brilliant through the supplied earphones. Playing through the speaker loses some bass without being tinny. I am going to get some external speakers - either S Eric's plug-ins or Orange's big Bluetooth ones.

Camera - At 2 Megapixel, better quality than the K510's 1.3 MP. To use zoom, you have to either lower the picture size to VGA or choose the 'Panoramic' shoot mode (this sets it to VGA anyway! ) the flash starts as a bright light as soon as you select it, reducing red-eye. Press the shutter button & it pauses a second for the auto-focus, then flashes really brightly as it takes the shot. The camera has fun 'frames' to turn your friends into spacemen, bunnies, 'Wanted' posters & others. Picture quality won't rival today's 7 Megapixel cameras but you can't phone with an Olympus!

Software - Transfer files between phone & PC. Synchronise contacts, appointments & notes with Outlook. Convert most music file types (incl. Music CDs) to MP3. No problems with PC or phone locking up.

Other good stuff - It has a radio with RDS (gives the station name). It's slim & sleek with a great mix of lines & curves. The back looks just like a camera! Phone calls are clear & haven't cut out.

Those keys! - the keypad took a while to get used to, but I am there now. I use the edges of my thumbs, near the nail. I've never been a fast texter, but I am now as fast on the W610 as on the K510 & my previous Nokia 3210.

Some bad stuff - I was showing it to someone on Monday &, when I pressed a key, the screen stayed blank. Same with three other keys, then it sprang to life. Not happened since (now Saturday). The PC has failed to find the phone twice so far when USB connected. The sound recorder refuses to work. Two of the four Nav key shortcuts (up & down) don't work. These are mostly minor, but I might exchange it for another.

The K510 had a great application - World Time - that is not on the W610. Maybe I can download it from Eric's website. The connector socket is on the side, forcing the earpiece cable up & across the screen until you tuck it behind the phone.

Overall - Sleek, sleek & powerful with a few niggles. Moving from my old phone, I've lost a little but gained a lot. Nearly full marks - buy one!

PS - a lot of reviewers have asked questions about the phone's capabilities. Have a look at the Sony Ericsson website & click 'List all phones', then click the W610 & 'Read more'. It answers all the 'does it' questions that I've seen.

It is great, the best phone I have had for a long time & I get a new phone every month but this time I am going to stick with it. I have had it for quite a while & loved it, nothing has gone wrong, I play music & listen to the radio & use the camera a lot. I found out that the camera was a bit shocking.but it is actualy OK when you get used to it.

The best phone I have had. Unsure if the camera is as good as the k750i, should be as it is 2 megapixel compared to 1.3 megapixel. Think I better peel the lens protection sticker off! It's slightly thicker than the w880i, but worth the extra thickness for a light/torch & RDS radio. I got used to the smaller buttons in a week, so no moaning going on here. Top Walkman facility. Respect to Sony Ericsson.

I have this phone in Silver, & think it's gorgeous! It looks stylish & is very compact & has loads of great software. Its camera is good & delivers clear, crisp pictures, as well as the Walkman with loud clear sound for a phone. Used to have a K750i, but this is so much better! Although the keypad is a bit small, it's very easy to get used to! I would definitely recommend it!

This is a great phone, I am really a critic when it comes to mobile phones but this W610i is good.

Good:
- 2.0 Megapixel with autofocus.
- Walkman 2.0 player.
- Slim.
- Lightweight.
- Flash-
- Battery last for 3 to 4 days (for me), even though I am playing the MP3 for hours.

Bad:
- Can't use the zoom when it's in camera mode.
- Poor display in camera mode, like W850i but with autofocus.
- If you have fat fingers, well it's a nightmare.
- Not 3G, better read the articles or reviews first before buying any mobile phone to suit your needs.
- Poor display, the display of W810i is much better even in camera mode.

My conclusion here is, if you are not much into capturing images, this phone is good for you, nice & crisp sound of the songs, not hanging, not lagging or self restarting. But it's better to use memory card reader for you to avoid white screens & phone crashing. (This is based upon my experience in using this W610i).

People this is a good phone. I am not sure what's wrong with some of the people below me, but I am guessing that they went to some cheap website to purchase their phone.

My W610i has been with me for 3 months now. It's been a great phone. It is one of the few quad band phones in the line of Sony & that saves me while traveling. There are a few negatives, but way more positives. Here are a few that I've found.

1. I have big hands & fingers so texting is slower for me on this phone because of the tiny buttons. Girls or guys with average to smaller hands/fingers will do just find on this phone.

2. The back of the phone that comes off so you can get to the battery squeaks when you text because of pressure & a lose fit.

3. The camera could have a better zoom option. Someone below me said that they could not zoom with theirs, but they just didn't look close enough. You can zoom, but you have to switch the shooting mode to a smaller pixilation.

Other then that everything is really good. The battery lasts for 5-6 days when you don't use it that much & 3-4 days when you do (I use my phone all day for work). MP3 player & radio work awesome & very easy keys to get there & back. The camera is really nice, but could be upgraded. The reception is superb! It comes with a larger memory card then most phones so you can save a lot of songs & pictures right off the bat. I can go on & on. Sony E. Is by far the best phones out there.

Ppl this phone is awful, if your thinking of getting it then don't because you will regret it. To start just look at the keypad it's bad. The only difference between this phone & the w810 is of looks & it is slimmer. So please buy a w810 instead if this. This is not a reliable phone at all.

A MAJOR FLAW IS ITS CAMERA, my advice to ppl is to not to buy this phone you better go for w810.

I've had a lot of Sony E's over the years & I am not too sure about this one. Walkman is good. Camera very poor, got better pictures out of one I had 3 years ago. It gets stuck on random programmes. For some reason where I had reception I don't anymore.

Buttons very small, make texting hard. Plus sometimes you press the menu ones & it either completely ignores you like you have no right to make that option or takes you elsewhere. Think I am sending it back & trying the 850i. At least it works with a Mac though which is more than I can say for my old Samsung. If you do get this phone, good luck.

Buttons are annoying at the start but once you get used to them, it's like using any mobile phone. W610i has great options, great MP3 player (I think the best). After 1 charge I used it to listen to radio, conversations, listen to MP3, sending & receiving files & I can say the battery is good, but not brilliant as they say on other web page. But I know that after 4 charges, it gets better. I recommend it!

GREAT PHONE? Being a Sony Ericsson man for a fair few years now, maybe not for much longer, am now on my 4th w610i in 5 weeks, first 3 all had same problem, software very slow by time it had recognised you had pressed to answer call, caller had rung off, text messages take a lifetime to open or send, add that to small fiddly keypad & poor camera not good, my advice steer clear, as said am on my 4th which came through today, (thought)! Hope no one calls or texts me to much hassle. If it sounds too good to be true it normally is! Beware!

Alright. I have had my w610 for about 10 days now. Been using it like a mad man. Upgraded from a Nokia. & I got to admit. Nokias seem to be a lot more user friendly then Sony Ericssons. But don't take long to get used to.

But anyway. About the phone. Firstly I got to say the MP3 player is amazing. Great quality & the shortcut keys on the sides make it extremely easy to use. Perfect. Which was the main reason why I got the phone. Screen is really good too. As for the camera. It does kind of suck you can't zoom. But the pics seem fine so far. But haven't gotten the chance to transfer to the PC & see how they cone out.

But will have to point out quite a few probs. Firstly. The back cover does creak. A lot. Which is annoying & another MAJOR problem is. Battery life is BAD! I have to charge it every day. Looking at various reviews ppl had said it lasts for up to 3 days with quite a bit of usage. But not so. Id say 1.5 days tops. Or maybe the battery being new is taking time to old more charge. But oh well. Will have to wait it out.

As for the keys. The take time getting used to. But they are AWFUL for gaming if anyone into that on the phone. Really tough to use them.

Another big problem is the software is really slow. I am waiting for the update. Cuz that tends to help. Hope it comes out soon though.

Also some small probs here & there like you can't assign an entire group a certain ringtone. Or you can't add more than I think 23 numbers to a group. Which is rather ridiculous.

Another big flaw is the connector thingee being on the side. That just. It's not right. It's annoying. Especially in the pocket. & the connector is sooo loose. It keeps having major contact problems in the pocket. The stereo Bluetooth is almost necessary.

But again in general ill say it's a good phone. Looks great. Not too bulky & stuff. Features good. Stereobluetooth. The radio is great quality as well. Would say its def worth the money. Since it has the high-resolution at a much lower price.

Great phone. GPRS works, MMS too. Big screen. The sound is great. Especially when headphones are on. Megabass. Cool themes. Trade in my 512MB memory card for 1GB. Got it for a bargain.

The phone is solidly build. For an entry level Walkman phone, nothing beats this one. The only give away are the gaps surrounding the nav. Keys (around the centre of the phone) which is a little bad on the finishing touches. Also there's no shutter for the camera. But all those aren't really big of an issue. Overall appearance still attractive. The phone works like a charm. The back cover doesn't creak. Camera has auto focus. Overall, this phone rocks.

Good.
- Walkman is amazing, bass is fantastic on the headphones that come with it & the speaker is also brilliant for playing music out of.
- Lovely design, don't have any problems with keypad! Easier than the W880i
- Good camera, fantastic photo light!
- Much, much more but can't think of them all ha ha.

Bad.
- ONLY ONE. You can't zoom on camera unless you're in VGA mode, but I don't really use the camera, as I have a digital camera!

I am surprised when reading the reviews people have left. I actually had to check they were talking about the same phone I have bought because I think the criticisms are unbelievable!

The comment about the keys feeling cheap & moving when you press them - I could not disagree more. The keys are very stylish in a chrome metal finish & do not move (apart from when you push them in! ) I wonder if the design has been changed since that post, or more likely they got a faulty handset.

I have only ever used Nokia phones before buying this one (except temporarily a Siemens before finding this phone) & after just 2 texts I was able to write perfectly, speedily & with more ease than I did after months using the Siemens. The predictive text is the best I have ever used (& I was a devout Nokia user till now) & the only things I need to get used to is that it does not tell you how many characters you have left for the current text, & the space being on the bottom right.

The keys are small but not fiddly, I am female but I do not have small hands, & I find them very well spaced out & respond instantly when touched (I hate my boyfriend's LG chocolate for its slow key response - there is a phone NOT for texters! )

It sounds like only the unhappy customers who have unfortunately a digital camera!

I have yet to try out the music function properly, but testing it last night it sounded as clear as my ipod, which is good. But again I mainly use a mobile for calling & texting, not for music or photos.

A very stylish mobile, all my friends are jealous (esp. my boyfriend who I think secretly wishes he had bought this phone). It's not too slim which I think makes it more proportionate (compared to the W880i) & it is a very solid, easy to use phone.

I've had this model for about a month. Very impressive. Good basic phone but the Walkman sound quality & really decent earphones make it a VERY good MP3 player. Camera takes reasonable pictures & it even has a little torch on the back! I've upgraded to a 2GB memory card too so I have tons of music with me at all times. I sometimes forget that it's also phone.

Buttons are stupidly small but I have large fingers & after an hours practice I could text like teenager (only with better grammar & spelling).

I bought this phone with high hopes, as I had the W800i (LOVE that phone, had it for almost two years, NO problems!) & felt it was about time I upgraded.

My W610i arrived & I was very impressed with the look. However, when I came to texting, it was awful! Several of the buttons stuck so I'd have to keep pressing them over & over, took half an hour to write a text!

Now this week the phone has started crackling when I speak to people, rendering it impossible to talk unless I put the phone on 'speaker'. This is NOT ideal when needing to talk on the phone in public!

Oh, the camera is rubbish too. The W800i (a much older phone) has a FAR better camera, better flash, zoom & picture quality. The phone has no NEW features & I am very disappointed. I shall be calling Virgin shortly & asking if I can send it back.

How disappointed was I. The buttons feel cheap. If you move them, you can see them moving aswell, they don't look 'solid' the buttons are really quite fiddly & texting can be a nightmare if your like me & have rather big hands.

The camera is NOT as good as the one in the W800i, the W800i shows up flesh tone much better than the W610i. The flash on the W800i is also significantly better than the W610i. Rather poor considering this is one of the latest phones on the market.

I use to have an LG Chocolate & a Sony Walkman, but carrying those two around became quite tiresome so I decided to look for a Walkman phone. I avoided the lush looking W880i because of complaints about the keypad size & there is always a risk of me losing it if I can't feel it in my pocket.

So I went for this, the W610i. & it's awesome. Brought primarily as a phone with a decent quality music player, it's more than delivers on that front. The sound quality is amazing, adding megabass & increasing the volume on older songs & making new songs sound incredibly detailed & loud. I've got a 2GB memory stick & whilst I'll probably fill that, a 4GB should be more than enough for anyone.

As well as looking the business, other features over my old LG Chocolate include a Radio, the Internet & a 2MP camera (That seems to be the standard for higher-end phones).

Highly recommended!

The phone looks the part but a problem I have discovered is that when texting the phone freezes which is very annoying & you have to wait 20 seconds or so for it 2 let you continue. The sounds brilliant though. The miniature buttons take a bit of getting used to.

The keypad is absolutely shocking. The buttons are so tiny it's impossible to do anything quickly. Standby mode is just a blank screen as far as I can figure which is rubbish. I am hoping to send this phone back. Not a good phone if you send a lot of texts. Fine if you like music. Camera is also good.

I only got this phone yesterday & I wasn't so keen about receiving it because it's really slim. Once I got used to playing around on it I realised how lucky I was to get one! I don't know a phone that is that small, reliable, scratch resistant & EVERYTHING you need on it!

TIP: Make sure you buy it! You don't know what you are missing out on! LOL.

Absolutely Brilliant Phone, I bought this the other day & I am already used to it after having Samsung & the embarrassing N70.

Only problem I can find which doesn't really bother me is the off button which is absolutely tiny. Other than that, yeah the buttons are small but still very useable & myself having big hands have no problems with it.

Great Phone, recommend it to anyone who is doubting it.

The design of the mobile phone is very good, but I would like to have the phone complete in Black & not Orange or White. The features are very good just the camera is not so good because you can't use zoom in the normal mode you have to change to VGA or the quality gets worse. It's also easy to use, unfortunately the caps are a bit too small but you will learn fast how to handle it.

I bought this phone a few days ago, it took me awhile to get use to (I got Nokia & Samsung as my previous phone, go figure), great design, its features is great compare to W880i.

MegaBass is awesome, they didn't call it a Walkman phone for nothing :)

Now the downside, the keypad is quite small (but bearable), I personally don't like the location of the charging port which is on the left side instead of the bottom, the processor is not that fast, it has some latency when opening a menu, but not that great of a deal.

The camera is not that drop dead good, but hey, it's a bonus, can deal with it :)

All in all, it's a great phone, so far. Recommended.

This phone is really good, especially if you demand a lot of features!

I wanted a phone with:

- Radio
- Camera with flash
- MP3 player

This phone has all of them & is the newest on the market, perfect!

However, it does loose big points for a few niggles. You can't zoom when the camera is on 'normal' mode for some reason - to overcome this change the picture size to VGA (this means you loose quality). Why it will zoom in every other shoot mode at 2MP is beyond me when most people use the normal function.

Also when you have it on standby you can't see the time or if you have any messages, missed calls which can be annoying as if you leave it you have to constantly check to see if you have a new message etc.

The buttons are also a little fiddly but I'll get used to that!

All in all a good all rounder & for the price superb!

Hello Folks,

Let me give you detailed & unbiased review of this phone.

I bought this phone the day it released in India, initially I was very skeptical about buying this phone but I tried my luck.

Good:

1) Superbly designed, build quality is superior, specially the back looks sleek, form factor is not too bulky neither ultra slim (some people hate ultra slim phones & they are right to do so bcoz it'd kill the quality & some of the features will not be available).

2) Great accessories provided, high quality In-ear earphones, portable external speakers.

3) Camera quality is great in daytime, mediocre at night, lots of good photo editing features.

4) Has a powerful flash, which can also be used as a handy flashlight.

5) Has megabass (in my opinion the music sounds real & much better without megabass, its required for certain songs or genre of music ex: hip hop).

6) Display quality is good even though it's TFD (thin film diode), some people had doubt on this.

7) Has upgraded Java support & is better for 3D java games.

8) Has Music DJ (to create ringtones) & Video DJ.

9) Has Flight Mode, this feature is useful if you are a frequent flyer, it turns off the transceiver, radio, Bluetooth & infra-red & avoids causing interference in the flight.

10) Pricing is good when you consider the feature set.

11) Has Push Email.

Bad:

1) The keypad is bad, if you have big fingers this is not the phone for you, its very difficult to msg, W880i is even worse.

2) Battery backup is a concern (honestly you shouldn't expect good battery backup in a Walkman phone), I use the Walkman for about 3-4 hours & make calls on an average of 30 mins daily, & for this I have to charge everyday.

3) Very rarely the firmware would crash, suddenly you'd see a white screen & the phone will restart.

4) You can't zoom while you take a photo, still I haven't understood the funda behind it.

5) Even though there's a sound recorder option, you can't record FM radio.

6) You can't create Msg folders.

7) Even though the PC software provided is good, I faced issues in installation & running of apps.

8) Some of the Java apps didn't run (these apps are tested on other phones & they work)

Overall a very good phone, best value for money.

If you're thinking of getting this do get it. My mate has a w880i & I think this is better it has a radio unlike the w880i & the w880i feels cheap.

Top phone out at the moment. Had this phone for a week now & it is great! I liked the look & slimness of the 880i, but to main draw backs, no radio & no flash on the camera (or handy light if you want). Also people said it was difficult to text on it.

When I heard about this phone I knew it was going to be good! For the sake of being slightly thicker than the 880i, the W610i has a RDS radio & light for camera & is easy to text on!

It comes with a 512Mb card to store about 10 CD albums on it, but get a bigger card & you'll have a very good MP3 player (4Gb card for £30 odd quid will make this phone as good as a Ipod mini!).

Best phone I've ever owned!

I really like this phone, the radio is really easy to work & the camera takes wonderfully clear photo's, sound is good & yes, mine certainly has megabass.

It didn't pick up the numbers from my SIM card so I had to input them all over again which was a pain but otherwise texting is easy & if you're looking for a phone packed with features to keep you occupied & if you want to go out without your ipod, then this is great as it comes with tons of memory. Track ID is ingenious & managed to name a really obscure song I had on my computer.
