This is a nice phone, as I like slider phones.

I got this phone secondhand in good condition. However, the slider is a bit wobbly & also stiff to open, the back cover wobbles as well. So it feels I have a creaky phone.

The music quality is good. Battery life is good though it does run down faster than expected when I am surfing on the Internet.

The nice thing about this phone is that you can download & save different themes, unlike the Sony Ericsson F305 & W395.

I also have an unevenly lit keypad where the 1 is the brightest & everything else is only slightly lit.

I can also see the intelligent function where if it is darker (like being in a tunnel) the display dims a bit to save power. It also increases when it is lighter, especially in sunlight.

Shame about the huge headphone jack. Funnily, the budget, boring J135 has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack plus standard USB jack (like on some cameras & MP3 players), but more expensive phones do not, which is annoying.

The Internet speed is pretty good, although it does vary for different websites.

Camera is OK for occasional pictures but a pity there is no flash.

All in all, I am pleased with the phone as the price (being secondhand) is affordable & one that I can keep longer without being fed up with it in a few months time!

I just received this phone as a replacement when I lost my other phone, the only problem I have with it is I cannot find anywhere a setting to change the size of the text message font, I have a problem reading it as it is tiny (well to me anyway it is) I only need my glasses to read so if I am out & about & receive a text I haven't a clue what it says!

Called my mobile phone service & they couldn't find a setting to change it. I've never had a phone before that you can't change text size, can anyone help? Is there a hidden setting somewhere?

I've been a Sony Ericsson user for years, I've used K750, W810, W200, K810 & now this phone. I can say that the phone is awesome.

The accelerometer feature is nice, especially shake control. Sounds are loud, camera is great. The phone comes with flash lite 2 which allows swf files to be set as a screen saver or wallpaper. I love this phone.

I just got this phone today. Got it in Ruby black colour. I got it as a change from my Sony Ericsson V640i. Love the slide design as well as the colour though my favourite colours in this phone is the cosmo white, sandy beige & the active blue. In fact, I like them all apart from the lava black & the flowery one.

The phone gets 100% for usability but gets 95% for features due to the lack of secondary video call camera for 3G video calls, which I had on my last phone & I love having video call feature & it's important for me. The phone gets 95% for design due to difficulty getting battery cover off & on & getting the SIM card out. Still like the phone though. Music sounds awesome, has great camera & looks great. Looks a bit wider in the flesh compared to the pictures I saw before I got the phone.

I have this phone & so far I am very impressed with it. I adore the look of it (its an incredibly sleek looking phone! ), the features are better than my last Sony Ericsson (the S500i) & it doesn't feel quite so delicate (its heavier & seems to be more sturdy), the usability is good too.

I don't mind the buttons being small as I am female & don't have huge fingers. Plus I cross stitch so I am used to fiddly things anyway LOL.

I aboslutely love this phone, & id say it is the best mobile phone I have had to date. With the S500i I had problems with buttons breaking, texts staying in the inbox & not being sent out & with it not charging properly. With the W595 I have none of these problems as of yet. I'd recommend this mobile.

I've used Nokia since about 2001, & I suppose I got used to them but I decided that I didn't like the latest operating systems on them so I gave this W595 a try. I love its style, feels heavy enough not to feel cheep, but not too heavy, if you get my drift. Reasonable camera, & more usable than I thought it would be. Nice screen, & bright display.

A few groans though.

Can't configure menu icons to move those I use more to the front.

Tiny buttons so hard to text (getting used to it).

No flash on the camera.

I can't believe that the earphone jack is not a standard size.

I would love to be able to reduce font size in basic operation as well as text message composing.

Overall, it's a good phone, & feels nice to use but the gripes do lower my ratings somewhat.

This phone looks brilliant but usability wise is quite poor as the back cover is almost impossible to take off without worrying about breakage. The memory card & SIM card are both also a mission to get out. I had to get tweezers to pull them out. The menus are not the same as previous SE's that I have had. It's slightly different which is annoying as I keep deleting things by accident as the buttons are all different.
I am trying to get used to the new interface.

Other than that the phone looks good & feels good in the hand but I have it a little difficult to text as the keys a little stiff.

Looks & features are good but usability is poor.

Just got this phone on my O2 contract, had opted for the Samsung G600 initially but was disappointed so returned to tried & trusted Sony Ericsson.

Great phone! I've had it for about a week now & its very user friendly, has a reasonable selection of themes, ringtones, etc.

& what I was most impressed (surprised) with was that the phone recognises whether you are holding it in 'portrait' or landscape' & adjusts the screen & view to it!

Oh, the only slightly disappointing thing was the colour; I wasn't given a choice but to go for the white & red one. I would not have minded, but this one is very girly with red flowers all over it. Then again, it should be what's inside that counts, right?

I took this phone out on contract less than a month ago I have sent the phone back three times, the first two times was because I couldn't hear what anyone was saying when on the phone to them, the third time was because the phone turns itself off, don't know what will be up with the forth one, I would recommend not to get this phone.

I got this phone on an upgrade in December 2008 & I was really excited about getting it because of the great reviews of it, I upgraded from the Sony Ericsson W660i which was fabulous. However, after having my phone less than 3 months the phone began turning itself off, then when it let me turn it back on again it did the same thing again, it was as though it was crashing (sometimes it wouldn't turn back on for a number of hours), so I took I the next day to be fixed.

I then got my phone back & within an hour of having it back it did the same thing again. It was then sent back again & now I am being told that that fault has been fixed but they are going to charge me for a repair on the screen, which did not need doing before it was sent back to get repaired as apart from the fault it was in good condition, just like new. The damage was done in transition from my house to the repair centre by the courier.

Overall yes this phone is good but the faults that come with it are ridiculous.

The customer service at 3 isn't very good & I doubt I will be keeping my contract when it comes back up for renewal as I am sick of being messed about now.

Has anyone else had problems like these?

I have had this phone for about 6 months now & it has everything anyone could want! I have had no problems with it so far. Until 3 days ago when the HASH key seems to have died, the physical button itself still presses, but it is not recognised as the HASH symbol does not appear on screen & what is very annoying is that I can no longer put spaces into texts using the hash key anymore, I now have to hit the sideways button twice which takes so much more time than imagined.

Overall is an EPIC phone though! :D.

I got this phone after my beloved K770i died on me I did not like it at first but I love a Sony Ericsson. The camera is the same but has no FLASH what to do other than that it has lasted my five drops with no harm done. (other than my old phone were the paint came off) sound is good & I love the shack! For a slide up its OK, I hate slide ups but this is one of the best phones I have had & I would buy it again. It light & slips in your pocket & you can watch YOUTUBE how cool. The picture quality is great better than my old one if you want a phone that not that much but with a good camera then get this one it much smaller than all the other fancy ones.

This phone is the best phone that I have had so far. I bought this a couple of weeks ago & I have had no problems with it. Although the camera does not have a flash it takes great pictures during the day. The buttons are great also. The music quality on this phone is fantastic & it includes the feature where you shake the phone & it goes onto another track (shuffle mode). I have got the grey version & I think it is better looking than all 3 colours & I love it. Hope this helped those of you who want to buy the phone!

This is a very good phone. The sound is excellent. The battery lasts 3 or 4 days. Although the camera has no flash or light, the camera is excellent. There is one thing missing. My Sony Ericsson W595 does not have walk mate, or maybe I cannot find it. The walk mate is very rare to find on the phone. The buttons on the phone are fiddly. You need nails to press the buttons. The phone looks very nice & it is small & slim. I do not mean it is very small or very slim. I mean it is quite slim & small. The earphone you get with it is bass reflex. The whole phone sounds like a speaker. If you put the music on & put your ear to any part of the phone, you can hear the sound coming out from that part. There is one thing that you need to watch out for, if you buy this phone, you have to open the back case very carefully. If you do not open the back case where you need to put your SIM & battery & M2 card, then it will brake easily. I recommend you to buy this phone. It is a very very good phone. Beautiful phone. Excellent phone. Well done Sony for making W595.

I've had this phone for 4 months now on 3. It is amazing & deserves all the praise it gets. Yes it could do with a flash but takes amazing pictures in daylight. I have bought a crystal hard case to protect it & it does not detract from texting.

Well done Sony, I would recommend this all.

This is the best phone ever created. I can assure that you will have no problem after buying it. I've got it & I don't see anything wrong with it. You can even change the camera to VGA, 1MP, 2MP & many more. You can just listen to the next song by pressing the button at the bottom right & shake your phone. It's so stylish :).

Hey everyone, I just got this phone & I love it, all my family has Sony Ericsson's & I think this is by far the best, one of the few problems I have is the fact that it is painted. Its not a blue piece of plastic on it no its actually black covered in blue & so scratches show more on it. I dropped it only once on concrete & I have a horrible scratch on the top right corner : ( I am still angry at myself for dropping it.

Hi all this is a very good phone & the sound quality is very good.

I do want to know one thing about the mobile, when Bluetooth is switched on & if somebody is sending the file, it is not showing who it is sending but it is showing only the file he is sending, only after we accept the file it will display the name of mobile from which the file is coming. Instead if it shows the name (whether it is from your registered users or not also) of mobile before you accept the file, we can decide on the acceptance of file.

Is there anything we can do such that the name of mobile from which file is coming will be displayed before we accept the file?

What a beautiful phone! I have the red & white version with O2 it is excellent, well recommended! It's similar to my K800i, some features that are in the W595 are not in the K800i & vice versa e.g. The flash in K800i however editing of the pictures can make the picture look lighter etc in both phones. I bought this phone one week ago. I had previously had the Samsung D600 & really didn't want to part with it but it was 4 years old & starting to look a bit tatty. After reading endless reviews on various phones, it appeared that this was the only middle of the road phone that I could find with mainly positive reviews. I say middle of the road as this is what it gets referred to in many reviews but I find it to be excellent. It has many features on it, which I still haven't used but the ones I have used have been really easy to do. I rely very heavily on the calendar & I love the way you can snooze appointments & set reminders. It is very nice to look at & to use. If I have to find a negative point I think it has to be the vibrate mode. I have missed a couple of incoming calls & texts as the vibrate is very gentle. This has been rectified by setting a very low ring tone, which isn't intrusive in the office but loud enough to hear. I am very pleased with the phone & would definitely recommend it. I have found the camera to be sufficient & the music does sound very good. I never thought I would leave Samsung but this phone has converted me.

I purchased this phone a week or so ago for my birthday, & I have to say it is simply an awesome phone. I was looking for a good music phone, & I am extremely glad that I bought this phone because the sound quality is excellent! It's also pretty good out of the built in loudspeakers, particularly when listening to the radio or any dialogue based audio like podcasts.

The camera isn't amazing but it is important to realise that the phone displays the captured image in a relatively low resolution, & so the true resolution & detail can only be seen if you zoom into the image on the phone or if you upload it & check it out on a computer.

The features on the phone are awesome. The screen is large & every operation is an absolute dream thanks to the slick graphics. The particular feature that stands out to me is the media menu, which is totally separate to the phone's main menu. By selecting media in the main menu, you are taken to a cool new scrolling menu designed much like those of the PSP or PS3. This menu also takes advantage of the phone's built in accelerometer, allowing you to turn the phone on its side & watch the screen rotate with it. From this menu you can select options such as Music, Video & RSS Feeds.

The phone also has a specified Walkman button to take you straight to the audio player at any time. This is particularly useful when browsing the Internet & fancy some music at the same time; just click the button on the side, select a track to play, then click it again & return straight back to wherever you were before.

The phone also has some well designed buttons. Although they can take a little getting used to, the design fits & once you've used them a bit they're quick & easy for both navigating & typing.

In my opinion, the battery cover is way better than that of most other phones I have seen. Instead of being made out of a brittle plastic that can easily break & takes a lot of fiddling & pushing to secure on the phone, this cover is made out of a more rubbery & slightly more flexible type of plastic. Sony have struck the perfect balance between making it easy to remove & replace the cover whilst not making it brittle enough to break or flexible enough to fall off.

I could go on & on about this phone but I really should bring this review to a close. I bought the blue version of the phone from Orange (after being with Virgin for 3 years), & I have to say I could not be happier with the service. The pay as you go phone was only £139.99 from in store (£10 top up included in the price), & once I had it home I chose the Dolphin rewards system for my tariff, which means that with every £10 I top up (before a particular time each month) I get 300 free texts & free access to FaceBook, Bebo & MySpace for the month. Although I am unsure as to whether other networks provide a similar service, Orange also provide a free to browse homepage with news, weather & all sorts as well as free to browse music & games catalogues. They also provide free access to Gmail & several other mail providers via the Orange homepage & give you free RSS feeds including the particularly funny quirky stories feed in the media section of the phone.

Just a great phone.

Bought this phone with Vodafone, just before Christmas. I have taken it back twice & now need to do so again. The back battery cover has been loose on two of them, the top half rocks as others have said. It feels plasticy & cheap, it squeaks when I press the right hand keys. The battery is not great if using it for calls, music, Internet. I have to charge it every day. The Camera is not great either. However, the music quality is great & there is loads of memory. Vodafone will change the phones in store, but if you buy it over the Internet in the first place, they will not change it for another phone. They only wanted to change the battery cover rather than the phone. My advice, pay more to buy a better phone.

This phone is great! I had the W580 for a year & got fed up with the keys snapping in half, although it was a good phone otherwise. I got the new one in white & red which looks far better than the blue (didn't see other available colours) & got it on PAYG from Phones 4 you for £127 which includes £10 top up & a 2MB memory card.

It is a brilliant phone & does everything you want it to do. Its sound is crystal clear & loud, handy for us women who carry phones in handbags! The buttons feel so much more sturdy than previous Sony Ericsson's & I don't think these ones will snap in half! It's very user friendly & easy to navigate around the menus & the fonts & numbers aren't tiny either so another plus point. The screen has lovely clean crisp colours & the camera takes very good pictures but doesn't have a flash. I haven't found this to be a problem as it does have a night mode function. It is a good size & can be easily operated with one hand. The casing is definitely more durable than previous phones (not plasticy).
If you have had Sony Ericsson's in the past you will get on with this phone with no problems. If this is your first Sony Ericsson then you will get the hang of it in no time. It's fun to play around with & while doing so you will discover all the WOW factors that it holds.

A definite MUST HAVE PHONE. You won't be disappointed at all!

Am now on second phone & it's being returned later today after all of one day!

First phone was Orange PAYG, & lasted 7 weeks, this one is again Orange PAYG. With initial phone I thought it was a total dream (having got shot of my Nokia 6500 slide dreadful! ), it stored untold songs, was very easy to transfer them onto the phone, got a lot of great videos & pictures (OK it's not superb but it does the job) & was very easy to send & receive texts.

7 weeks on it all went wrong, the HASH key started to stick & then totally froze, as some of you may know this is the main space button when texting, then gradually other keys started to stick.

That phone went back & now today on my second phone & to my disappointment, the screen is wonky so to speak, when you go into send & read texts, they do not read in a straight line, they start off that way then they veer off up to the right, to send or read a text you need to hold the phone at an angle, not acceptable when you talking of £165 phone!

So now awaiting my third one, hoping this one just bad luck & will be OK, but it's incredibly frustrating how I put music & videos on phone & spend a long time doing it & then end up having to remove them all once more!

Was a great phone & hoping will work third time lucky.

This phone is such a rip off. Sony Ericsson put a little hole on the front of the phone to make you think it's a secondary camera for video calling, but it's only a light sensor! The only way the other person can see you in video call mode is if you hold the phone back to front, but then what is the point in that if you can't see the other person or the screen? What's the idea of a 3.2 mp camera without flash? When will Sony learn to put REAL audio jacks onto their phones, not some weird adapters that break in your pocket? What a useless phone. I am sending it back tomorrow & going back to Motorola where they actually KNOW how to make good phones! Waste of money, don't buy it to save your life!

I LOVE this phone, I have had it for about 3 weeks now & it has never let me down, the camera is excellent quality & has many different frames & picture types, the look of the handset is beautiful & is perfect size. & the buttons are pretty good, a little small, but I am learning to use them :) I had a K610i before this & was an amazing little phone apart from the camera seemed to get worse quality as time went on & the paint kept coming off the handset within the first 3 weeks. So far with the W595 not even a scratch! :) I got this free with a contract on 3 which I would recommend, £20 a month for 18 months & I get 200 minutes & unlimited texts, plus this phone ABSOLUTELY FREE! Only a few problems with this phone & 3 together, although the 3G is perfect, unlike the review about Orange above (sorry to hear about that) the only thing is it is not clear what is free & what charges. For example MSN is free, but you tube charges & seeing as this is one of the main selling points about this phone it should be made clearer as I added another £14 onto my 20 a month very quickly in 10 minutes by watching family guy.

If you are thinking of getting this phone on Orange, please read on.

Bought this phone a few days ago after having a basic Nokia 6070 for the past 2 years & I have to say that this is the best phone ever. I fell in love with it as soon as I first saw it on the Internet & was hoping it could promise me everything that I expected in a phone & I can safely say there isn't one thing that this phone cannot do for me. It's absolutely fabulous in terms of look & features!

Anybody on Orange, should think twice before getting this phone. I bought mine from Orange on PAYG & only live 2 miles from the city centre & I haven't even seen a glimpse of a 3G connection. I have tried everything including taking it outside to changing all of the available settings, but nothing seems to work. Orange state on their website that they provide a 3G service which is available to Pay M & PAYG customers, but for some reason, I seem to be excluded from having the privilege of accessing high quality content. Therefore, I have to make do with rubbish GPRS speeds so I am returning mine & looking into joining 3.

What can I say. This phone is the biz & I am really pleased with it. I am just not pleased with Orange at the moment LOL.

Pros.

- Compact design.

- Crisp, bright colours, high resolution, adequate sized screen.

- Copy & paste functions in SMS & Netfront browser!

- Camera is really excellent quality & the sound is crystal clear.

- Pictures can be rotated landscape & portait by turning wrist.

- Good selection of preinstalled multimedia content.

- Listen to music tracks whilst browsing the Internet!

- Orange Music Application for previewing the latest music tracks ranging from different genres (I am still on Orange so I can take advantage of this application).

- Conversion of SMS to MMS (handy if you have written out 6 SMS & want to save money by sending a MMS instead)

- Delivery confirmation of SMS & MMS.

- Read receipt for MMS!

- Tonnes of storage space with an 8GB SD Card, still plenty of space even with the 2GB SD card.

- Sony Ericsson PC Suite is a dream to work with. It can optionally re-encode files before transferring them to the phone to ensure full playback compatibility. You just have to pay £6 for video re encoding support.

Cons.

- Menus can seem a little cluttered at times. E.g. Music folder has Album, Title, Genre & Year & files seem to get a bit muddled up. However, you can use the organiser folder which just contains all the files in one folder.

- Difficult to type sometimes due to phone being a slider phone. Suppose it takes a while to get used it.

- Casing feels a little cheap & plasticy. Buttons seem a little loose & sometimes feels as though they are going to fall off. I am sure they won't though.

- Radio only works when you connect the headphone lead as this works as an antenna. Luckily though, you can turn on the loudspeaker to hear the radio without using the headphones.

As I said, great phone & truly amazing for the price. Who needs the Nokia N96 LOL.

Looks wise the Black version has red detailing & silver edging & looks tons better than the other blue, grey & white versions.

One interesting thing I discovered (bit geeky this one) the Google maps Beta version puts my location as Stuggart when I bring it up on the my location function, not Manchester. I can only presume this is because the phone uses a Vodafone algorithm in conjunction with the Google maps. So basically, because I am using an Orange SIM & trying to use Orange transmitters to triangulate my position the Vodafone algorithm interprets the signal from the Orange transmitters as somewhere else in the world. Any way apart from that weird thing the phone is great. Mine is a bit rickety when you text but you tend to get that with all sliders.

Enjoy.

I got this phone yesterday for 150 quid (plus 20 quid top up included) & this phone is BRILLIANT.

I got it in red & white, & it fits in the palm of your hand, really light, its strong as well, the music is brilliant, really good quality. The camera is awesome, Bluetooth is fast transfer rate, I had the K750i for 2 years & to go to the w595 is a big step, I love this phone overall, I would defiantly recommend it to anyone, hard to find a good phone with good camera & music. But this phone has definitely got it.

Got this phone 14.10.08, first impressions are good. It feels solid & looks good.

The Walkman is excellent & the phone comes with a 2GB card (with 3) giving you plenty of room for your favourite tracks.

The Walk Mate (Pedometer) application is quirky too & seems to be quite accurate at first glance.

Thumbs up from me but still early days!

It has arrived.

I just got mine, ordered it & it is so much more compact than I imagined, looks sleek in black.

Music features are top quality & sound is the best. I have used 4 Walkman phone previously & this is my favourite so far, just hope it is as reliable over time but I can predict that yet.

Got it on contract which was more cost effective for me, goods deals for a new phone.

All my family & friends like it, guess it will become popular then, but at least I got it first.

Thanks for reading Karl.

I am due for an upgrade & really want the w595. It looks really good. It has been based on the W580i which has some really BAD reviews as its keypad breaks very easily. Can anyone tell me if this has been sorted on the W595? Please! Thanks.

I got this phone from Orange last week & I am absolutely loving it. It's got some great feature & a really like its sleek design. It is probably the best phone I've ever had. Its music player is probably one of its key features. It has a good sized memory & lots of options. Also texting is really easy & simple. Overall I love this phone!

I absolutely love the look of this phone! I can't wait till it comes out but I am torn between getting this phone & the C905 with 8MP which comes out around the same time!

I Love Walkman but then again I LOVE the camera capabilities! Can't Sony make a phone that's built for amazing music with amazing camera? How unfair is that?
