Sony Ericsson W508 Review

The Sony Ericsson W508 is a flip opening 3G music phone which allows the user to express their individual style by adding new & fashionable Style Up™ covers to this beautifully designed handset. Sony Ericsson have provided one additional Style Up™ cover with each W508 handset to get the user started but there is a wide range of coloured Style Up™ covers available for this music phone. The Sony Ericsson W508 is a member of the Sony Ericsson Music Phone range & comes with a wide range of music orientated features to suit those music loving mobile phone users. This handset comes in a metal grey coloured casing or a poetic white coloured casing which can be further enhanced using the Style Up™ cover option to personalise this music phone. This stylish looking music phone comes in a compact sized casing which measures 14mm deep by 50mm wide & 93.5mm tall which will fit neatly in the users hand when in use. The flip action can be easily flipped open in a single hand for ease of use. It weighs only 98 grams which is lightweight & will not weigh the user down when in use or when being carried. The internal screen is 2.2 Inches in size & provides a high quality colour display. The W508 also comes with an external screen which allows the user to view information on the external screen when the handset is in its flip closed position. The Sony Ericsson W508 comes with one hundred megabytes of internal memory & supports Micro™ M2™ memory cards up to sixteen gigabytes in size.

The built in Walkman® music player supports MP3 & AAC music format & provides high quality sound for the music lover on the move to enjoy at any time of the day or night. The easy access external music keys allow the user to control their music without opening their stylish flip phone. The user can view album art on their screen when making music selections. The Sony Ericsson W508 supports Bluetooth® stereo A2DP for a wireless listening experience when using the Walkman® player. A useful shake control feature allows the user to gently shake their handset to skip or shuffle their music selection or to simply control the volume of their music using the shake control feature by shaking their handset in a different direction. The W508 comes with a music recognition music feature know as TrackID™ which allows the user to find out the name of a song, name of the album & the name of the artist by simply recording a few seconds of a song the user likes the sound of. This amazing 3G music phone also comes with a PlayNow™ ringtone download feature, SensMe™ playlist creation feature & Mega Bass™ enhanced bass feature. The W508 supports both MP3 format & AAC format ringtones. It comes with a built in FM radio complete with a radio RDS music information feature which allows the user to view text information on the screen whilst listening to their favourite radio station.


The user can enjoy a full mobile Internet experience on their Sony Ericsson W508 as the built in browser supports Web feeds as well as Google™ maps & provides a YouTube™ compatible Web experience. The user can enjoy a mobile email service with Exchange ActiveSync® which allows the user to stay in contact with other contacts with an email address. The user can stay in contact with others by sharing pictures complete with text & sound which is known as a MMS messaging service & provides a fun way to share pictures with other MMS compatible contacts. A built in 3.2 megapixel camera allows the user to enjoy capturing still pictures as well as moving video footage. This digital camera feature comes with a built in light, 3 x digital zoom & a geo tagging feature. The Sony Ericsson W508 is a quad band network handset which provides worldwide network coverage but the overall coverage is fully dependant on the network provider. The handset covers GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 & UMTS 2100. A built in gesture control feature allows the user to wave their hand over the handset without touching the actual handset to mute a call or to set the alarm to snooze mode which is activated by a sensor in the camera feature. This music phone supports motion games & Java™ games. The user can download new games to suit their gaming taste & enjoy an active gaming experience on their beautiful flip phone. A built in Walk Mate feature works as a step counter & will count the users steps throughout the day which is a great feature for those fitness focused music lovers. The Sony Ericsson W508 is a 3G HSDPA handset which supports 3G video calling which allows the user to enjoy seeing their 3G compatible contacts on their screen whilst chatting to them, for a face to face video call. The user can connect to other devices using a USB connection between two compatible devices using a USB cable or connect to devices which are up to ten metres away using a Bluetooth® wireless connection. The battery provides up to 400 hours standby battery time from a fully charged battery. The user can enjoy up to 4 hours of 3G talk time or 10 hours of GSM talk time or up to 2 hours of 3G video calling time from a fully charged battery.
