I love Sony Ericsson, I always loved their Walkman phones & I think I've had 3 Walkman phones. I always buy them every time I lost a phone or it just gave up on me after a long period of use. But the last one I bought the W395, is I think the lowest quality out of all the Walkman phones I've had, I mean the graphics, super poor. They said that the camera is 2 megapixels? I really don't believe that it's 2mega pixels. My w350i is only 1.3 MP & it's much clear. It's like levelled with my w200i. They should have just told the truth so people wouldn't expect much from it.
CONS. 2 MP, but it seems like it's only VGA. (liar) & I don't like the headset that came with it (it's a good thing I still have my old headset that is compatible with any earphone, headphone, & speaker), can't download themes! What! No copy & paste function, you can only set 1 alarm what! I tried to download games & applications, but I can't install it! GRRrrrrR.
PROS. luckily it's loud, & that, I love! & the design is actually nice. & I can watch full screen.
Overall, I am kind of disappointed with Sony Ericsson. I think their phones became cheap like CHINA phones & they lie about the specs to sell more phones. I hope I am wrong. Prove me wrong, Sony Ericsson!

My dad recently purchased this phone, he thinks it's great, but he has one small issue.
When he sends a text message to someone in his address book his phone then rings using the text message alert he has set for his incoming texts. Is there a way to turn this off?

I don't know what some of these reviewers expect for £50, but the phone to me has loads of features & good sound although does freeze occasionally. I like it. To get music on, it needs to be MP3 format, windows media player can rip in MP3 so no problem.

The design of this phone is awesome, but this phone is not so good. Please don't buy this phone at any cost, the walkman is the only feature which works fine, but while playing a song you can't send anything from Bluetooth because while sending some horrible sound comes from the phone. While sending something Bluetooth works fine but while receiving. Battery life is also not that good, so it's a total waste of money.

It's a great phone I have had it for about a week but there are some problems.
When downloaded an app (ebuddy) it says go to your operator for Java settings but I don't know how to do it. Anyone HELP?
The user guide does not help a lot only with very basic uses.
Everything else great & worth the money.

I brought this phone yesterday & it is great! I love the speakers at the back of the phone, they play music really well. However, I cannot install any more themes on to the phone & I am having problems with the music player. Whenever I play a song, it's fine, then I get onto the next track & it makes a weird noise, then I have to take the battery out to get it working again. Annoying.
Overall, great phone but it's a shame about my problem with the Walkman & themes.

Many people say this phone is brilliant others say it is rubbish not many say anything in between. Many people complain about many things however not all are true.
The camera having burst setting where it takes several pictures at once, you can turn this off!
Sound not loud enough, I would say it's too loud! The sound is perfectly loud enough.
It doesn't play WMA's, download some free software from the Internet that converts them, simple & easy!
It breaks when wet, don't most electrical things? !
There are many other complaints that really aren't realistic.
My view on this phone is that its brilliant for the price I bought it (£48) however it does freeze occasionally (sorted by taking the battery out & putting it in again) & you can't do absolutely everything you can do with other phones.
But overall I think this is a good by if you get it at the right price.

How do you get to download music on to the phone? I have installed the installer from Sony Ericsson site. It downloads on to the phone, but downloads in windows media player & no matter what I do I cannot get the music to play at all.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've got this awesome phone about 5 months ago & it's still work best as new. It cost Rp 1.330.000 (5 months ago) but already packed with 1GB storage! All I could say is that this is a really nice stuff. The sound quality headset comes with it is just amazing. & the design couldn't be any better. But the Bluetooth connection is not so good though. The Walkman player got choppy while you send some track to another gadget through it, sounds like rapping, he he. & somehow I can't install any addition themes so I am stuck with 5 simple themes on it. But I still love it anyway. (Sorry for my poor English. Just can't resist to post some comment about my lovely phone ;p).

To the person who couldn't download from iTunes, that's because iTunes is purely for apple iPods & phones, my husband got caught out the same way, there is a lot of hype about that being unfair & not clear enough at the moment.
I love the phone & all the features, I work in I.T. & I can't find a way to get it to sync with my PC at all! Any help appreciated!
Handy size, good for music, which is what I wanted since I do a lot of dog walking, camera's not as good as I would have liked & no flash, but can't have everything!

I gave the usability 90% because it is easy to use but would have got 100% if there wasn't a time delay when you press a key.
I gave design 100% since it looks really expensive due to its shiny chrome front panel. I don't think the design could have been improved any more.
I gave features 100% because of the awesome speakers, FM radio, clear sound & everything else such as Bluetooth & the applications.
Overall this phone is fantastic! Matthew.

It's a good phone very classy & easy to use. But I could not find more themes on this phone. Can't even make personalized themes. I hope Sony Ericsson will add more themes on their site.

I had this phone for a while & I liked it. I wasn't going to change it but I left it out in the rain (duh) & it died. The memory capacity is up to 4GB which is good but you can get others in the same price range that go up to 8GB. The keys are very small & I found them difficult to use when texting but not too much of a problem. I had audio books in my music player & I couldn't put them all in a playlist to just play one after the other. Each time one file had finished I had to go in & find the next file & play it manually. I found that very annoying. It does come up with 'Emergency calls only' a lot, but then I think that's the network not finding coverage that makes that happen, so you can make emergency calls through another network but nothing else. It did that a lot though & no other phone I have ever had does that. Slider felt a little flimsy, but I loved the look of the phone & I had it in Titanium Blush.
All in all I liked this phone but definitely not the best!

I agree with all the complaints in the reviews here. Track ID works on my Vodafone version of the W395 but as ever, keeps slipping in & out of Internet connection. I've just had a brief fling with Sony Ericsson's after years of using Motorola's & Nokia's & have come to the conclusion that Sony's are for kids who want to play music. My W395 cost £100 & for a phone with 16MB of internal memory & a 2GB memory card I find it really strange that it'll only store up to 50 or so messages in the inbox & the sent folder. The cheapest Nokia will store about 750! We've all got used to saving important messages & storing them (re. Work etc.) & it's just nuts that this thing has a memory meter for MMS (picture messages) as if it'll store hundreds! Absolute rubbish. Connectivity is great though, can't complain about voice connection etc. But there's one question I cannot get mobile phone manufacturers to answer & I am still waiting for anyone's ideas, how come, on my 2005 Motorola I have 3G, email, memory card, hours of talk & Internet access & the battery lasts about three days, yet on recent phones, of any make, I am charging the battery every night?

In reply to Hammy, you mentioned that you couldn't find the track ID anywhere in the menus. If you go to settings & go to general, scroll down to shortcuts, select one of the navigator keys & you will find the track id there. I hope this is helpful to you. It took me awhile to find it too. Now trying to find out where to download themes from. Anyway good luck with your phone.

I just went on this phone in the shop & loved it.
Oh & with Track ID. The one I went on in the shop had track ID because I went on it.
It was on Vodafone though, & had Vodafone software. But it did have it.
Hope that clears it up. I am guessting Tesco doesn't support it?

I have just got myself the Sony Ericsson w395, & I am really impressed with its sound quality & it's easy lay out menus, I can't find the track ID in the menus anywhere, I am quite sure it's not built into this phone at all, I will be letting trading standards know as this is false advertising. Apart from no track id, plus you can't download themes to this phone. It's not bad for a low end slider, but the promotional garble on this phone makes you think you're getting a Rolls Royce of a slider phone, but really it's just a Ford Escort. It's a disappointing shame.

Great phone except the Track ID facility is not available in any of the menus on the software on the Tesco Network.
Nobody seems to be able to explain why it's missing & how to recover the situation. The only answer you get from Tesco is take it back & get a refund.
Meanwhile they continue to sell the phone on their website & in the shops claiming it has Track I.D. Trading standards are getting a call soon.
3 hours of phone calls with Tesco & Sony Ericsson with them blaming each other but they won't talk directly to each other.
P.S. I exchanged the handset for another w395 & it was the same. No Track I.D. As my contract is with Tesco I expect them to sort it out.

I bought the titanium W395 phone on Tesco Mobile for £59 & boy is it a bargain! It looks & feels expensive due to its shiny metal front casing & stereo rear speakers. The sound is incredible when playing music & the menus are easy to use & intuitive.
I have found that when trying to download music onto it via iTunes it will not accept the file format, & since the phone did not come with a disc to phone program it made achieving this all the more challenging, hence the slightly reduced usability rating. Once I had managed to do this though the results were incredible!
The phone also came with a 1GB M2 card fitted free from Tesco whereas the same phone from Orange was £88 with no card.
The screen is bright & clear & camera is good if all you intend to do is take pictures to create phone wallpaper with, & that all you really need!
With an FM radio as well, what more do you need?
This phone is a bargain, buy it.
