Got this phone in January 2009 mainly because it was different looking to other phones, & I hadn't seen anyone else with it. Nice looking but that about where it ends.
The phone ringer stopped working, doesn't matter what I do it will not work. Vibrate works though. Then when I answer I cannot hear a thing so I had to start putting calls on loud-speaker which is really inconvenient! Now after a couple of days doing that the loudspeaker doesn't work! Completely rubbish phone, especially for Sony Ericsson who usually produce reliable phones!

Good phone, but keys broke easily : ( & not as many camera features as the other Sony Ericsson's, good Walkman though :).

Hi, I brought this phone on the Orange network & have had it for about a year now it is RUBBISH! The camera is 1.3 mp, it can't record videos the screen gave up after a month & had to get a new screen fitted (not very handy as had no phone for a month! ) the Walkman is awful, if any one says it's a good music phone then they would be wrong! The dedicated music keys are cool but very unreliable, battery holds out for about 5 days which is average, no 3G so browsing is a pain in the neck, screen is miniature! Only 14MB internal memory external is only expandable to 2GB unlike other phones with 4GB plus the speaker is not very loud. But on the other hand I think when the phone is closed then it starts to get better I think the front is nice. Inside the buttons are easy to use but I found phone breaks very easily (buttons fell off, external screen doesn't work etc).
All in all poor phone.

This phone is OK, because come on people, there's no such thing as a perfect phone & most models probably have their faults.
After I'd had the phone for a week, it broke, the screen just wouldn't come on but the keypad lit up, so I took it back & got a replacement. That was November 2008. Nothing went wring since then except for a crack on the joystick & then suddenly, the phone refused to charge properly. So it's now off getting repaired. Other than that though, the phone is great, love the design, it's great to talk on, the volume is really loud, & the camera isn't spectacular but if you upload the photos onto your computer they're large & clear. Don't buy this phone if you want it to last you for years without a problem. I am used to having problem phones so it doesn't bother me anymore :).

So long so good. I have had this phone since October 2008 & lucky for me, it worked well. The only time it caused me trouble was when I wasn't careful with it. Like last night, I messed the outer screen; perhaps the water entered in it or something like that. But I'd strongly recommend it for those who want to give it a try & are not too fussy, or demanding. It's simple & sleek.

Love the look of the phone, but it is poor when it comes to reliability, only had it 3 months when it started to randomly switch off, so I got a replacement from the store I bought it from, which lasted about 11 months before it did the same, will never buy this model again. There is clearly a design fault & Sony should withdraw it from sale at is seriously damaging their reputation as a producer of quality electronics. I am sorry to say my opinion of this phone is that it is not so good.

I got this phone & within 2 weeks it broke, the screen would go off but the rest of the phone was on, so I couldn't do anything. Got it replaced & then another problem came up can't remember what though. Since then, 5 repairs & 8 replacements. DO NOT GET IT. Looks kind of nice though :).

This phone is total rubbish. Not long after buying it, it had a problem where it kept turning off by itself. Later on the volume was very low while you are talking to someone. The message tone click was silent, despite being on the maximum level.
The little light at the front (that by the way is enough to damage eyes if you're too near) only came on when the phone rang occasionally. There were times it would not come on at all.
A few times, the screen would flash on & off for a while so you obviously couldn't send a text or make a call because you couldn't see anything. The buttons came off one by one. Texting became a nightmare. You have to really press hard to get the characters to appear on the screen, so you can forget trying to send a quick message. Also the signal was terrible. Sometimes, the message Emergency calls only would appear, whereas everyone else with better phones was getting a full reception. This would mean I could not make a call to anyone else but the Emergency Services.
Finally, the phone had cracks all over it, especially the middle bit (don't really know what it's called). The only way I can think of describing it is the hinge bit, where the phone bends. It nearly came apart. Thankfully my upgrade came just in time.
Would not recommend this phone to anyone, ever! Waste of time, money & effort!
Whoever is thinking of buying this phone, please, please listen to all of the comments people have made about this model. If the phone does not give you problems after a month, you'll be lucky. If you have not yet experienced anything with it, it will definitely happen in time.

Bought this phone on Orange (as I wanted the purple one) in March 2008 & had it unlocked (to use my Vodafone SIM) worked fine until Sept when it switched off & was totally unresponsive, after lots of messing about with Orange & Sony, sent it for repair. It came back but locked to Orange again whilst putting the unlocking code the same fault occurred, so it had to go back again & a brand new phone was sent, locked to Orange again & as it had a new IMEI would have to wait 3 MONTHS to get the unlock code from Orange. Paid to get it unlocked & now it keeps losing the Vodafone signal (Emergency Calls only) (OK with an O2 SIM) so it's going in the bin! Such a pity for a lovely looking phone, but will never shop at Orange again very unhelpful.

Had to be sent back 3 times in 5 months, continual freezing, randomly turning off, settings going haywire. Absolutely rubbish & not a phone you can depend on. DO NOT BUY! I read this site before buying this phone for my daughter & thought that maybe some people had been unlucky. No, this phone is shockingly unusable.

I got this phone in July 2008. Really enjoyed the earlier days of it, but suddenly it started spelling trouble. By the end of one month, it started disappointing me in terms of battery. Usually, I would have to charge it every 35 to 40 hours. The output of the speakers suddenly reduced. I had to give it to the service centre to get the software replaced to get the same quality of music as before. Its body is very delicate. Despite me using is very carefully, a crack developed on the body near the joint of the flap. The buttons were not very responsive, & typing a message was a real turn off. I never used the camera, it was just not that good to be used. The music in the headphones was quite good. By the end of the year 2008, I got extremely disappointed with the phone. I sold it out by January 2009.

Great phone but have had to send it back to get repaired within 2 months of buying it & have again sent it back for repair within another 4 weeks.
Problem seems to be the mobile shuts down for no reason. The first time I was told it was a software problem got it back & it worked for 3 weeks now it seems to be a battery problem so its back again for another repair. Really like the phone but would not advise anyone to buy it, as it seems to be a fault with this model.

I think this phone is a good phone. Although it doesn't record video & freezes a lot it is quite a good phone. I have had a few problems with it, totally froze for a day (not much use) & it nearly broke my computer. It went nuts & just flickered (the phone & the computer) If you're looking for a text, call, average camera phone, this is it. Just don't plug it into a computer :).

Bought the phone in June 2008. It has gone dead repeatedly, service centre refusing to honour warranty saying motherboard is to be replaced on customers cost, complaint to the customer care centre on web has not been fruitful. They asked for all details & then have refused to respond for more than a month. I would not recommend any one to buy any product of Sony Ericsson.

I've had this phone for a few months now. I also took it abroad. Apart from the poor camera, it really is a reliable phone. It is really easy to use, & the buttons on the front are really smart. Memory is good, as is the battery life, sound quality is superb. The games are enjoyable & I love the track id feature. It's a good phone all in all, everyone loved it, & I would certainly recommend it.

I bought this one over eBay. All worked to perfection for about a week. Then, as I was having a look at some of the integral games, the whole phone just shut down & could not be turned back on again, no matter what I did. On reporting this to the seller, he informed me that this sometimes happens with this model & apparently, there is a virus in one of the games files, which when activated, shuts the phone down completely & permanently. It's away at the moment being fixed. I hope!

I find this phone very easy to use & love the fact it's a Walkman phone. I have had a W580i & it was naff. Speaker was shocking & it kept crashing. I sacrificed a lower camera & a bit less money & got something better.
I personally think it can take a bit more of a battering than the w580i it feels like a solid phone & has Windows Messenger, Email, Bluetooth, 1.3M Camera & great battery life.
I got this & on first charge lasted for a whole week including use as a MP3 player which I do lot as I didn't see point in having an iPod & a phone.
Anyways for £60 in Orange shop it's a bargain. Way better than spending £100 for the higher slider model.

As a budget phone this is probably one of the best you can buy. If your usage is going to be texting, calling & listening to tunes you can't really do much better. If you take videos & pictures, look elsewhere, this wasn't designed for that.
It looks brilliant, the gesture control, the front touch buttons for mpc mic may be a bit gimmicky, but they're also great fun! If I put my C902 on the desk, no one looks at it. If I put this down, you can guarantee within 5 minutes someone will pick it up, smile & start playing with it.
The max music volume is a little low, but it's nice that the package comes with top quality headphones.
Treat yourself to one. Go on. You know you want to.

I have this phone for about 5 days, I found it really cute especially on its purple case, I was just disappointed with its 1.3 mg camera & it has n0 video even 3G feature, but of course it's a music phone what do you expect? Since it's a music phone, its speaker is really trash, it's not worth buying for a music phone which has a low quality of sound. K810i must be louder than this. I am waiting for it to be broken & change. But I like the style. It's really cool. I am not yet experiencing any inconvenience about it. But I am expecting because I have heard a lot of comments. It's not durable, honestly, the screen light is already decreasing. I am a picture lover but I like music too so I decided it's OK but then when I had touched it, what a waste of money.

I really think the phone looks really stylish & cool as I am getting it in purple. But my advice for those who gets the no coverage thing or emergency calls thing going on, all you got to do is switch your phone off & on again. Other than that it has not much of problems I guess. Anyway, I would recommend it to people who has got style because this phone is STYLISH. Cheers.

After using boring old Motorola's for years, I decided to opt for an Ericsson.
Everyone appears to comment on how cute & funky the phone looks.
I have had it for around 4 months but have not yet tried the gesture control. It seems like a gimmick.
After a week of having the first phone, it kept turning itself off until finally it wouldn't come back on. I was very angry & took the phone back & got another one. The new phone does the same thing, but generally comes back on.
Interestingly, I notice that some other owners have had similar problems.
The sound on the phone keeps cutting out lately, & my alarm is not being heard in the morning, thus I am late for work. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't. I am not happy about having to send it back again. I am still waiting for it to die on me like the last one. This time I will need to send it back to the Sony rather than the shop where I purchased it from as there is only a 30 day exchange policy.
It is a lovely little phone. However, it is not one to be relied upon as I have discovered.

Yes indeed a horse did win it so he must have special powers. Anyway I digress, back to the phone. Buying a phone these days seems to have become something of a fashion statement. Moreover users seem desperate to buy anything with every feature possible. While admittedly we'd all love a phone that does everything perfectly the truth is most phones are Jack of all trades while being masters of N-Series concentrating on sound. With this in mind it seems somewhat churlish, if not downright foolish, to endlessly criticise the camera on this phone. True, at 1.3 megapixels it is less then amazing but then what do you expect? This phone was not designed with pictures in mind. The camera is, at best, a bonus. As for the lack of video, well let's face it, shaky video from some person's mobile is hardly going to set the world on fire, but if you need it, go elsewhere now.
What is important is sound &, much like the other budget models (the W200i & the first budget clamshell, the W300i) it performs splendidly. Much like its older brother the W300i, this phone has a screen which is on the small side. TO compensate it is amazingly colourful &, this time round, we get the added bonus that the Walkman software displays album art (not the most exciting thing in the world, but good for the music fan). The phone can also hold up to 2GB memory, doubling the W300i's possibilities. The external screen is also improved & shows information clearly & succinctly in a manner reminiscent of the Sony MP3 players currently on the market.
The external controls are also much improved over the W300i's clumsy, side mounted rocker switch & battery life is up too. In short, this phone does what it sets out to do, it easily replaces a budget MP3 player (will it trouble a Creative Zen? of course not) & is a fairly neat phone to boot.
However, there always has to be a downside. Yes the camera isn't great, but as explained earlier it is rather ambitious to expect a great camera out of a budget Walkman branded handset. Also the software doesn't seem to have changed much since the W300i. It is simple to use & a few extras (I.e. Multiple alarms) have been added, but at the expense of useful features like the recurrent alarm (which saved the hassle of setting each alarm each day). Also, while I personally don't care about the lack of video it seems strange to include a player but not recorder, especially as it would not have bumped up manufacturing costs a great deal. Finally it is plasticy, but then so was the W300i which was a rather sturdy piece of kit despite it's my first phone looks.
All in all you get what you pay for & a little more. The W series phones rarely disappoint & this one does not. Sound is good, the screen, while small, is clear & the camera is serviceable. Those berating it for its lack of 3MP cameras, video & low battery life clearly have too much money to spend & therefore should stop being as thrifty as to buy one of these lowly phones in the first place.

I like the design, simple but classy though I have the Grey one. The Music features are cool. But I am quite disappointed because it doesn't have any video recorder or 3G. Hmm, but still love it!

Liked the phone but already been back to the shop twice only bought it end of April. It has got to go back again as still not working. I do not get very good network cover but if I use my SIM in old phone it fine so it not the network. Going abroad soon so need a phone I can depend on. Which is not this one!

Had a terrible experience with this phone! I bought the grey one. First 2 sets I had kept switching off, almost once a day at least after the 7th day. The third set lasted for 6 days, auto switched off, & couldn't be turned on again.

Easy phone to use. Shame about the camera! But hey ho it's a phone! I love the purple & pink & its idiot proof to use. Only thing I can't seem to change is the back light goes off too quick. Anyone help?
Battery life is good & the graphics on the phone are amazing! Always used Nokia or Samsung so I am glad I have switched. I LOVE it!

The thing that drew me first to this phone was the layout of the keys. Secondly it's a flip phone which is something I was looking out for.
The buttons are not fiddly or close together & you always know which button you are pressing with ease. I read a comment about the keypad not being properly lit. When I examined the phone in the shop, the Assistant advised the black casing to be the better choice as the backlit keys show up really well. I now know these keys show up very well at night & I am glad I did not forge ahead with my initial choice.
I am not overly concerned with taking pictures but a tad disappointed that it isn't on a par with the majority of camera's out there.
I am impressed with the Walkman function & the radio is pretty useful. Mega bass function is very good & really brings out the best in my own headphones. At times the supplied adaptor becomes slightly loose & the sound gets muffled as not all the pins are fully connected. But that's what you get for having the phone in your pocket! I wish this phone had a full 3.5mm for my own headphones.
Do not even consider using the speaker if you want to listen any music without headphones, it's useless. I heard music being played through the speaker on a different another Sony Ericsson Walkman phone through the speaker & believed it would be about the same. How wrong was I.
The alarm is very loud though, so long as you find the right tone.
I am quite happy with the battery life. I used the Walkman function from Sat morning till the early hours of Sunday non stop & the phone still held its charge. I wanted to drain the battery completely but I didn't have enough hours in the day. I like the fact it has a number of separate alarms & you can add all sorts of calendar reminders, appointments & notes. It's versatile for what I need it for, which isn't much. The phone is easy to navigate as far as I am concerned.
If you can find a store with a helpful assistant, check it before you buy.

The great things about this phone is it's feel, expandable memory & its Walkman! Keys visibility is the worse point. But at less than £80 I am pretty impressed. If you need video or 3 mega pixel camera chose something else. Cool in grey for the boys. Just love the feel when I hold it & it's cool flip!

Been used to a Samsung phone, found this phone easy to use, also stylish, great colour & like the view through the cover! Good value for money.
The backlight on the keys is not so great, but then don't tend to look at the keys when texting!
Only had the phone a day but not had any use as problems with SIM, battery already needs recharging! Sound quality great though! (Why don't mobile phone alarms have preset tones that sound a bit like an alarm clock, tunes are very annoying).

It was a great & excellent phone. Great job Sony Ericsson! Even though there is better Walkman phone that has an application such as video, auto focus & flash, this phone was made for those who didn't have enough money to buy. Even though this phone have lack of application such as video, auto focus & flash, this phone was made for Walkman. The point is Walkman only not on camera or anything else.

This phone is a great phone for music & radio & all the other standard features. It also looks good & is well designed. Only minus points that you may consider, they are not bad & you can probably put up with them as the other features are so good.
One, is to remove the memory card you have to take off the battery cover. Fine, except the cover is a bit thin & just kind of snaps on & off, you have to apply more force than other phones. You might think it will break if you do it too many times.
Two, is that the keyboard illumination is not even. In certain light conditions when the keypad lights up, the very small letters on the keys do not have good contrast between the silver background of the key & the letters & can difficult to see.
Try it in the shop before you buy. This phone is good though despite these little things.

This is a very good phone at an awesome price!
The gesture controls only work to snooze alarms & reject calls, nothing else at the moment but it does work very well, every time.
The Walkman software is integrated very well & it has some very nice buttons on the outside which vibrate when pressed.
It is built very solidly, the battery life is good, however as this phone is slightly on the budget side, the screen is slightly small, it is still very easy to see & has good clear colours.
Another very nice feature is the OLED display on the outside, it is completely hidden when turned off, which makes it look very cool but unfortunately invisible.
I would say a very good phone indeed especially for only £70! The gesture controls are brand new & a great way to impress your friends!

I bought this phone as my previous contract phone (LG Shine) packed up 10 months into an 18 month contract. I only bought it to see out the contract but I must say that it's very impressive. Camera is not brilliant but I don't really use it anyway. External music keys are a good idea. The phone appears well built & durable. I got it in black on Orange & it looks a lot more substantial than the grey which appears a bit plastic. I would say there are better phones out there but for £70 you can't go wrong. I would recommend this phone.
