Bought this way back in April 2008 as I lost a K810i & it has been a great phone. The camera isn't anything special, the rollercoaster game gets really boring after you've completed 100% a few times. But I have had it for almost 3 years now. I have grown very fond of this phone, Sony's simplicity is matched by no other phone. I have a few phones during the 3 years, but all have broke or have been lost within a few months & I have used the W302 as a kind of back up which is always there & never fails.

This phone won't turn heads, it won't take crystal pictures or sound like a boss speaker, it won't make you look like you've got a few bob in the bank but it'll wake you up in the morning, receive & transmit texts & calls, it will take fuzzy pictures that you can't zoom in unless you go through a long list in a edit menu, it will perform 'track id' perfectly & better than some iPhones. It will make you fall in love.

Sorry, I am getting a new phone next week & I just wanted to commemorate this fantastic phone which has sat in my pocket for about 3 years.

Price (when bought): £82
Length owned: 1 Year 3 Months

This phone is the type of phone which you hate, but feel compelled to stick with.

It has no outstanding features, with its supposed highlight, the Walkman, being a scaled down version from other Sony phones.

The camera & video features are no more than I would expect from a supposedly budget phone, although the lack of zoom on the normal camera setting (you can zoom on burst mode) is quite frustrating.

On its original carrier, Orange PAYG, it constantly failed to deliver & receive messages, a problem which the company pinned on the phone's system rather than their own incompetence. I switched to Vodafone & it now works well, though the Inbox & Sent Message limits are inadequate.

In the winter months, when temperatures went as low as -6 degrees Celsius, it often refused to turn on or crashed while in use.

Its redeeming features are it's high end market look (something which made the phone look better than I discovered it to be), it's compact size & it's built in games, though the incapability to get any new ones is rather irritating.

As I will be getting a new phone fairly soon, I will look back on it with mixed feelings.

I have had this phone for exactly a year. I love it as it is durable & stylish. Buttons are very small but you get used to it, you can buy games for it, but the camera is quite bad. It doesn't support many themes from any other Ericsson. It is pretty basic, but very good value for only £69.99.

This phone looks very stylish, swish & may seem like a good buy. At 69.99 it was worth the buy, & it is very simple to use. However, there are several issues I have found in thus phone.

Firstly, the buttons are too small. Your thumb could fit over almost 3 separate keys & it makes calling & texting very hard to do.

Its video & camera functions are horrible compared with today's phones. It can't pause when performing a video, it is a 2.0 mega pixel camera which is much below average today, & it sometimes does not perform video playback, resulting in no entertainment from the camera features.

It has absolutely no applications that could be entertaining for the average teenager, it doesn't support themes from other phones (even other Sony Ericsson mobiles) & it doesn't play music as described.

I am writing this review in comparison with a previous phone I was using which had much better features, but this phone should not be sold to teenagers, & the target market should be much older people. Do not purchase this phone if you want something good & entertaining.

I have had this phone nearly a year now & I love it. I have very few complaints about it. I found this phone a pleasing replacement for my old Samsung E250i which was starting to break.

At first my Sony Ericsson had a few problems but they sorted themselves out. It used to switch itself off all the time especially if you put it down on a hard surface. I loved my headphones but now they've gone a bit strange. When I plug them in you can't here all the quiet bits of music & often you can hear the backing but not the words, It's really strange, I think it's the plug the headphones are attached to though rather than the actual head phones because when I plugged in my iPod headphones it still did the same thing.

Other than that I have no faults. I love its smooth & sleek design & the size is perfect for having in my blazer pocket at school. I have the silver & white version & I think it is fantastic looking. The camera is great apart from I tend to have unsteady hands but that's my fault, not the phone. The memory is great which is good because I have taken loads of photos.

AMAZING PHONE!

This phone would be great if it didn't keep freezing up all the time. It's very frustrating trying to send text messages that won't go first time. I spent about 20 minutes today just sending one text because it froze up. It's always switching into flight mode as well or emergency calls only. I am a big fan of Sony Ericsson phones, but this one is below standard.

OK, I have had this found for about 5 months. At first, my thoughts were, great phone, great buy. Love it. But as the days went on, the phone started to become slow. I am a teenager who loves his music. So, like any other teenager, I packed my 2GB Memory card with music. I still have about 500MB left inside it.

But, when I am playing my music, for some odd reason the track just gets shuffled to something else. I took the phone off the shuffle setting & held it in my hands. The phone shuffles through the music & picks it own song choice. Even then, halfway through the music if shuffles.

Not only that but sometimes when I close the Walkman & go back to the wall screen, the screen goes blank. The phone freezes & is very annoying.

My opinion is that, if you're into your music & think of keeping a phone for a long time. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE.

If your looking for a cheap phone with all its mini features & what not. Just as a normal phone for basics, be my guest.

Had this phone for almost a year now, it is great for the price & it is easy to use. I drop it a lot & it still works, rock solid. There are two main things that I don't like about this phone & that it is hard to connect it to the computer & that the SIM card keeps on coming out.

I would recommend it even though it has little faults.

I am going to give you guys a proper review.

Don't listen to all those poorly spelt reviews that simply say 'don't buy it' BECAUSE. For its price, this is one of the best phones I've seen.

Let's start off with the design. The aluminium finish is pretty impressive, & the back of the phone is also stylish. It's easy to take the battery cover off.

The handset is light, & small, candy bar design, with a dedicated Walkman keys, but some of the keys, including the numeral keys are too small for people with larger fingers.

The Features, well, this phone is like the Credit Crunch Walkman, boasting quite good Walkman hardware & easy music adding software, but the sound is pretty low without headphones BUT with headphones, I am afraid the jack sticks out like a sore thumb.

Camera, good for the price again, 2MP's gives good quality & there are many features & effects you can use. There is no flash but Sony has added a Night Mode.

Others, I am afraid that there are not many other features, apart from a calendar, one alarm, & a timer, but that's what you get for a decent priced phone.

Calling & Texting, needs some getting used to at first but it's relatively simple. The sound can be a bit sharp in a call sometimes. Some people complained about ringtone quality but there is vibrate on this phone!

Themes, sorry, but you can only choose the themes that come with the phone, BUT stop complaining! They are pretty stylish & I don't think I'd want to get any more.

Usability, very easy to navigate, but menu's are a tiny bit slow.

I'd recommend this phone to teens or adults who want a simple, yet stylish, cheap phone, or maybe to someone who is new to phones. If you are going to get it, make sure you try it in the store first, to see if it fits your needs!

Great phone had it now nearly a month people say there are many flaws with this they are wrong, they don't know how to use the phone. I was up & away in 5 minutes when I brought mine, the only thing that flaws is the themes & the camera could have been better & sound apart from that good phone. People say they can't get station names saved they need to turn on RDS & AF on & then tune & save the stations & zoom on camera photos does work you need to change it to VGA to zoom

Any questions just ask.

I think this phone is pretty good considering some of the phones I've had before. My last one was a Samsung (never going down that road again) & I find this much better. The only things I don't like about the W302 is that the buttons are a bit on the small side & the sound isn't great.

All in all though a pretty good & durable phone.

I don't understand why I have saved all my numbers to the phone memory but yet I can't view them all? Ridiculous, it really is, I have been on every website you can think of, so this is last resort, can anyone help please? Arrghhh, its testing my patience LOL.

I got this phone a few months back, for the main reason that it was cheap, & I desperately needed a replacement as my old phone a Nokia 6500 slide had broken & I was leaving the country in a few weeks.

Its flaws in my opinion are that it only holds around 70 messages at a time & you are constantly having to empty your inbox & sent messages folder. The size of the keypad was an instant gripe when I first got the phone but after getting used to it, it was easy to handle & get back to speed texting.

Its music player is good, simple to use & does what is required of it, but very low sound volume brings it down. The same as its camera, it is only a 2 megapixel, but on its highest quality you can get some decent pictures on bright weather conditions.

If anything I only got this phone as a bridge until my service provider offered me a new phone, or until I had enough money to buy a new model.

For the £50 I paid for it (brand new) I personally thought it was a bargain & it maybe came out after its time. I can see this phone being at the top of the mobile want list if it was released maybe 2 or 3 years earlier.

Its best feature would be its size & weight. It is small enough so that it doesn't make you look like you have a brick in your pocket when you sit down, & its aluminium front cover seems to be relatively scratch resistant (as mine has been dropped over 50 times).

Another of its great qualities is its battery life, though the phone does not have much to offer application wise, it does compensate for it in its battery life. I have had mine on constantly since I have had it & been charging it at night.

Though I didn't charge it for almost two weeks & the battery & phone were still going strong, much to my surprise, I think this is a good attribute to the phone, because phones I have had in the past that could do many things & had good quality cameras, their flaw was the battery life, mainly in my previous Samsung models.

An overall 6 out of 10 for the W302 I think for the amount it costs it is a decent phone & compared to a lot of other phones out there it is rather good.

The main problem with this phone is that the message alert sound is really quiet & the volume cannot be adjusted.

It could easily be fixed with a software upgrade. But Sony Ericsson can't be bothered to correct this. It turns out this is not actually a Sony Ericsson phone but actually an obsolete rebadged Sagem make. Probably why!

Also cuts off the last few letters of all your contacts on the SIM.

It drops the network connection for no reason, it comes back but annoying.

My advice is DON'T BUY THIS PHONE! Waste of money. Get something else.

I have had this less than 2 weeks & I am fed up with it already.

I have just got this phone for a week now, & it is perfect for what I need it for, connect with Bluetooth car kit, few text messages, loud enough to hear it ring, clear sound, long battery life.

It does everything my other phone, HTC Touch Pro, doesn't do, work properly!

After my big & bulky, heavy, slow & useless windows mobile phone it is great to have a phone that really works.

If I want to listen to music, I use an iPod.
If I want to take phots, I use a camera.
For satnav I use a TomTom.

W302 I use for phoning!

This is my second Sony Ericsson, & to be honest it is a very good 1.
It has good sound, looks very nice & has a good 2MP camera.

But its does have its bad points aswell. You can only use the themes that comes with the phone & it does not have optical zoom on the pictures, only videos.

But over all it is a very good phone, especially for the music fans & I would recommend this to everyone.

This phone is a strange little thing.

If you're wanting just your basic phone that you can ring & text then if it's for you, but for the people like me who are more used to the more recent phones then I advise you stay away.

The phone has a lot of old fashioned features to it like missing smiley faces off on texts, & the display of the text message you are writing is the old style too.

It boasts a 2mega pixel camera but the image quality on the screen is nothing to boast about at all.

I have had this phone since January & I am now that fed up with it that I have recently upgraded to a W595 in the hope it will provide me with a better phone.

I have always been a fan of Sony Ericsson's since my first W810i which I loved & had for 2 & a half until it broke, & I'd have another if I could because I feel Sony have gone downhill a lot on the quality of their phones but I cannot bring myself to change as I love the applications & layout they offer.

I must admit I was a little worried when after turning the phone off getting access to my messages was impossible & I have to take the battery & SIM card out to regain access to them, but I must admit that after a while the phone did improve.

Also I have so far slated this phone it does have itself a lot of benefits also, the battery life is excellent, I spend the majority of the day on the phone with work & the battery lasted the day, which I have had problems finding a phone that can do that.

I have also found that this phone is highly sturdy, I must admit I have dropped it over 50 since having it & have had no problems caused by this so if you are a clumsy person I advise on buying the phone.

Its slim design makes it ideal to sit in your pocket & the casing is fantastic. The memory is excellent & can hold a lot of information but the phone doesn't hold many texts so you are constantly having to delete them.

Overall a cute little phone, & comes in a variety of colours, but the old style is representative of a phone you would pay £40 for. It truly depends on what you use your phone for as to if this phone is for you.

This was the first Sony Ericsson phone that I have bought & to be fair I think it was a really bad buy, within the first week of purchasing the mobile, it turned itself off & froze a lot too, this should not happen with brand new phones. It s on the network Orange & I feel that Orange are a very bad network to join with as they do nothing but cause stress for the consumer, I wanted to return the faulty goods & they said that I wouldn't be able to because of staff policy blah blah blah.

I have been an O2 customer for many years & wanted to unlock the phone from Orange back to O2 & I had to wait 3 months, it had now been 3 months & they have still told me I cannot do this, I am getting to the point where I am now selling the phone as I hate it & what it has caused me

DO NOT BUY IF LOOKING TO UNLOCK! All the unlocking market stools & shops have told me that they have no traces of this phone actually existing at all.

W302 is a good looking device, but definitely doesn't have audible features like W200i which I was using before W302. It is not suitable for music lovers. My expectation was defeated by W302 as I changed my old mobile for audio only. Hence music lovers, don't go for it. Otherwise OK.

Boasting a 2 meg camera which is excellent & takes fantastic snaps. A large MP3 player with great features. Track ID great for capturing a song you like takes you straight to web were it gives you download options at the cheapest prices.

The keys are small but dominant I would say though that it is a more feminine than masculine phone so ideal for a female.

Poor sound, no loudness, contacts can't be send via text messaging, new themes can't be used, slow when song is playing, slows down when we place animated image as background, message inbox capacity is less than 50 only, average battery life, white screen while changing the song using volume key (double pressing), no zoom option in picture viewer, slow menu operation, no indication in Bluetooth while recieving file (no vibrate or tones).

I bought this phone after losing my W810i. It is a bad & messy phone to use & I could not recommend it to anyone. It is not a patch on the older iconic W810i.

It has loads of silly little quirks that after not very long become very very annoying. There are so many of these that I won't bother listing here. As of yesterday it won't charge the battery so I am forced to buy another (which won't be Sony Ericsson) probably a blessing.

Surprised to see the W302 miss some standard features such as, adding a smiley to an SMS & add several phone numbers to one contact. All this is standard since several years, & is confirmed by Sony Ericsson's support

At first I thought this phone was great. Slim, stylish & fits perfectly in your pocket without leaving a bulge unlike some of the other larger phones. After a while though, you start to notice annoying little things that soon become intolerable.

The main thing is the predictive text, for some reason capital letters start appearing in the middle of sentences & the more popular words aren't always the first ones to appear in the suggested words.

Another is the horrible speaker quality. I had a w810i before this & it had a crisp & loud speaker. This phone will not be heard if you leave if face up on a couch, bed or your pocket.

The vibration for calls & messages is exactly the same which is annoying if you have it on silent.

Also if you are used to using Sony Ericsson menus by using numbers to navigate, then you will not be happy to find out that only the main menu numbers work & not the sub menus I.e. No more, Menu, Messages, Inbox to go straight to your messages. The same goes for pressing the left navigate button & the number 1 to instantly create a new message.

Also holding down the c or return button no longer brings you back to your main screen.

Not happy with this phone at all & currently in the process of swapping it or even selling it on.

If you are used to Sony Ericsson phones & their quirks I urge you to stay away from this!

Well. Sony Ericsson W302 is a good buy. But you can get mobile phones better than it. The most attractive feature about this phone is its looks. It will attract many customers. As a music phone it has no loudness but with hand free it has good sound. Camera is about average but could have been better. Other features such as its games & Internet are fine, have no complaints against them.

Overall, it is worth its price & usable. But do not hurry in buying it. Sony could have made it a lot better.

Sony Ericsson W302, Do not buy! Do not accept as a free gift! It is that bad. Too small you will end up pressing more than one key! Has a speaker phone but you will not get a clear voice off it! Has a contact list of your friends but their names will be chopped off! If you like this phone then get another one & it will be better! Do not buy. You have been warned!

This is my first Sony Ericsson Phone ever. My recent phones have been the Samsung D600 & D900i, which are very good phones, very tough acts to follow. I find the Sony Ericsson W302 user friendly & I enjoy browsing the Internet with it as it is more user friendly with better functionality when browsing than the Samsung phones. The camera is not as good as the D600 (2MP) & D900i (3MP) but it is not bad at all & takes decent pictures.

The speaker phone quality is not as good as the Samsung phones I had but it is acceptable. The sound quality without the earphones is not that load, but it is good with the earphones.

I only had the W302 for 4 days now but I am enjoying this phone more & more each day.

The battery has not been really put to the test as yet as the phone is still new but I think that it will be o.k.

Nice Phone!

Dear Friends, This new Sony Ericsson W302 is a fantastic mobile, it has all the features which we need in today's generation, but it has some negative points also I.e. Its Key Pad, it's too stiff & small & second one is its works very slow, no mega bass system or higher volume option.

All is good but the problem is that the Speaker Option is not highlighted till the call is received. Rest is OK.

So I broke my old Samsung D900 & needed a new phone I did not know where to start as there are so many options out there. I went into town & had a look around I had seen this phone on the Internet & thought it looks OK but the keys are too small.

Well yes they are small but they are so easy to use. Even though the keys aren't huge I have no trouble using them & could almost say their better keys than any of my previous phones.

The phone looks great & screen is a good usable size. Well worth the price you pay.

Only negative so far is to put memory card in you have to take off the back, but if that is the only negative I find with this phone then I am really not complaining.

Great buy well recommended, TOM.

Sony Ericsson W302 is definitely a mobile that will grab your attention. The phone has all in it that will make it a complete mobile. There is the latest Walkman Software, 2 MP Camera (even iPhone has 2 MP), a slim outfit & reasonably good sound via loud speaker facility though it delivers some great sound via hands free.

The base reflex earphones could have been replaced by the noise cancellation ear buds, at least I wished I had them for this phone (my previous phone being W200i). The camera quality is quite good & the features & settings involving the camera are also good. The mobile has definitely been a very satisfactory one & it's not a bad choice from my side buying this phone.

After using W200i, I have dreamt of having another phone which could produce very god sound via the loud speakers but this phone has disappointed me. In fact, the slim build does not give that support to put in more support hardware for that loud sound. The slim built also seems to be shaky. So when you are inserting your charger or hands free, better hold the phone a little stiff so that you do not feel that the phone isn't shaking off. The keypad might also be a little bit new with the key size being very less (would definitely be better than W880). The size might be small the keys are very much stiff. So if you are someone who would like to SMS a lot, you might be irritated by it.

Finally, W302 is definitely a good pick with a little bit of compromise. The best economic mobile from Sony Ericsson definitely.

W302, the design is fine & compact.

Regarding the features, all the usual stuffs are there, but the Walkman doesn't have the Mega Bass feature which is totally disappointing.

There is no support for installing new themes.
