I've downloaded a mobile social network on that phone. It works perfectly. The application is really exciting. I advise you to try it out! You may chat with friends, send private messages, meet new people & play online games.

I do not know how long I have been using this phone, but it is one of the best I have ever had, & I am reluctant to give it up. It is looking somewhat battered from the times it has been dropped, but it works fine. The sound quality is excellent, earphones are so comfortable. Oh & it DOES have a speakerphone facility, when making your call, just click MORE, top right button & choose it from the menu! The camera is not the best, but it isn't the worst either, great for odd pictures when I haven't my real camera with me. It is so easy to use, very simple & user friendly. The battery still holds its charge for days & days, even though it is never turned off. I love the clam style, so simple & no worries about locking the keypad so you don't make accidental calls while it is in your pocket! I know this is an old phone, not even sure if it is still available, but I shall carry on using it for as long as I can. I have a new touch phone, but I am finding that awkward to user, one slip of the finger & you end up elsewhere, no such problems with the 300i. It will be with me until it works no more.

I love this phone & am reluctant to get rid of it. Unfortunately I've dropped it too often & it keeps saying inactive SIM. It also keeps dying if I play music or call someone. Overall though I love the phone & the only drawback is the camera :).

This is a smashing little phone. It fits neatly in my hand, pocket or small bag, no need to carry a suitcase to fit it in! I've dropped it so many times, but it still carries on working. The only drawback is there's no speakerphone facility, but I can live with that. My phone is on 24 7 & I think it's time to replace the battery as I am having to recharge it every couple of days, but I think it deserves a new battery with the service it's giving me!

I bought this phone in March 1997, I still have it & it works almost perfectly. The only drawback with it, is that it switches itself off when it's in my pocket (2 out of 10 times) & the ringtone you chose sometimes gets off & your left with the bleep bleeping sound that a dog could not hear, when you charge it up MAKE SURE you plug it into the phone correctly, because if you don't your phone will not be charged. Apart from all that the music you listen through is perfect & the features on the camera are great, I would give 4 out of 5.

This phone is OK but it breaks after a while & doesn't tell you when people are calling you half the time!

I have had this phone for over 2 years & am reluctant to get rid of it because it does the job so well. Fair enough it sometimes looses my new messages. But I always manage to retrieve them. & sometimes when I drop it, it doesn't recognise the memory card & I have to turn it off & back on (my own fault) but apart from that it's great.
I have put an 8GB memory card in it (although it says it should only take a 4GB. & it only makes it a tad slower understandable with all that music on! ) & I use the MP3 feature a lot. It has fantastic sound which is why I am reluctant to get rid. Camera isn't very good. But pictures aren't too bad once you view them full size on your computer.
I need a new one now though because I have dropped it so much most of the paint has come off. But it still works like a good one. Just looks rather untidy!
Very good phone if you don't want anything too flashy & like your music. I recommend it!

I think that this phone has much potential. The play & pause buttons on the side of the phone really do it for me. I recommend it as a first or second phone as it is simple to use yet has trillions of great features. I only dislike the camera picture quality & the fact it has no flash. It could also do with a bigger screen.

My mum got me this for Christmas after my D900 was broken, & I have to say I loved this phone, first Walkman phone. Yeah, the camera isn't perfect & I get ear piercing sound or have the music cut off in the middle of play but, this is a great phone until it was stolen on Friday 11th this year on a bus on the way home.

I love this phone! I have dropped it many it may be scratched but it still works! I don't know why people think this phones rubbish! It's never given me many problems! The only problem I have had with the W300i is then it has frozen up once! All you need to do is turn the phone off & back an again!
I must admit it is quite big but it can't be tiny with the amount of features it has! Walkman, Bluetooth, infra-red, radio, camera, video, alarm, 20MB storage, can hold a 4GB memory stick, games, themes, Video, photo, music DJ (edits photos, videos & lets you create your own music! ), recorder & Internet!
I do not find the battery cover hard to take off & I am young! No problem! This phone is indeed an amazing phone! I don't know why some people have so many problems with it! Thanks for reading!

I have used this mobile phone before & I loved it. The only bad point was about 6 months later a few of the buttons totally stopped working. I was actually amazed since I had no problems with it before. So now I am getting the w380i. I hope that is good. But I've heard it has no video record which is OUTRAGEOUS. Fabulous design still.

Had mine for 18 months now, & I just don't want to get rid of it! Wonderful, reliable little phone. Probably not for you if you want a wafer thin phone with strobes & whistles to impress yes mates with. I like having things that go against the grain though.
If you want to take tasty pictures, get yourself a decent digital camera (Casio exilim should keep you happy). Same for the music, get a piece of kit that's built for the job. I bought mine to phone & text though, & the other toys came as extra.
My W300i has been a little gem. Reliable, good battery life, does what it says on the box, & more. I love its quirky, dumpy shape.
I've bought mine a complete new wardrobe of fascia's too (all from eBay). It's like having a new phone every time I change the fascia. Love it.
I am going to have to change it at some point, but whatever it's replaced with will have to be amazing to compete with this little puppy. The best as far as I am concerned.

I have just bought this phone the white one from the Carphone Warehouse online at a very cheap price, I was very impressed with how easy this phone is to use, it has a lot of features like voice dialling which I really like, MP3 player is brilliant, when making a call audio is really clear & loud, nice clear internal screen, nice sturdy well made phone will fit nicely into anyones pocket or handbag, well done to Sony Ericsson.

Good points.
- Quite good colour resolution.
- Good external screen.
- Good music player.
- Value for money.
Bad points.
- the antenna makes the phone look a bit ugly.
- Not pocket friendly really.
- Only VGA camera.
- Rubbish video quality.
- Oddly placed buttons & speakers.
- the flip can feel flimsy at times.
- Quite a chunky & heavy phone for a flip.
The features are standard but good for the price range but the design kind of lets it down a bit.

I've had this phone for 2 years, it's been perfectly fine & never broken down. Like most reviews of this phone, I would agree the camera is rubbish, (it is a phone after all not a camera) I only mark the usability down simply because I felt the volume was pretty low. Even on outdoor setting it was difficult to hear if you have it in your pocket. You just have to set it on vibrate & apologise for the occasional embarrassing jump when it catches you off guard. But I liked it & have no regrets, I did however use it as a phone, not a camera or iPod.

Picked up my phone on Saturday as Carphone Warehouse rang to say it had been returned from the manufacturers. Didn't use it.
Went to use it Sunday, yet again, the select button, up button & 1, 2 & 3 weren't working.
I've got to take it back again today (3rd time in July) I can't even find out how much credit I've got on the phone because I can't ring the number.
It is rubbish.

Had this phone from last year & I have repaired it 3 times & still counting.
- It has good speakers but as for the earpiece slot it tends to get lose as time goes by.
- Bad camera
- Main point is the music speaker it's great.
- I have no problem with the keypads but the cover is peeling off.
- Mainly from the external small screen it's ugly.

Update to previous message.
Spent most of last week without my phone as I had taken it back to the shop.
I picked it up yesterday as they said it had been fixed. I went to use it this morning & once again the select, 1, 2, 3 & the upper arrow key are not working.
Have you ever tried texting when you can't use these keys?

I have had the phone since Christmas. I am unusual I know. If I want to take pictures, I use a camera. If I want to listen to music I use my iPod, so I really haven't been that bothered to try these features on the phone.
It's been brilliant to have the radio though, as it makes the dog walking sessions pass faster while keeping me in contact with the news.
My biggest gripe is that about 6 weeks ago it developed an intermittent fault. The select buttons & keys 1, 2 & 3 don't always work, so it makes sending texts very interesting.
I called into an Orange shop with it & they offered to send it away but it would take about a fortnight. They also said if I took it to the main shop nearer to my house it would be quicker.
I took it back but it was in perfect working order. This week those keys aren't working again, so if I have to reply to texts, I have to ring the number. I look after my phones & keep them for years normally, so I am really put out over this.

I've had this phone for 21 months & it's a good phone, not fantastic, just good. The camera is rubbish, the memory is limiting & frustrating, the radio is good but the battery is at best temperamental & at worst nonexistent. The predictive text can be helpful & can be annoying & it's not as durable as they say. I've dropped it more times than there are grains of sand but it's only broken once. Having said that the camera broke when it got slightly wet & hasn't worked since. I am upgrading it for the W580i. I hope to see some improvement.

I have had this phone for about a year now & it's the best phone I have had so far. I have dropped it countless times & the only damage is a few scratches on the case & external screen. I have only encountered a few problems with mine.
Problems.
- Recently it's become sticky & unresponsive sometimes.
-the camera quality is poor.
- About 3 months ago the headphone socket on the bottom failed to work sometimes. It doesn't occur that often but still it's annoying.
If there is anyone who wants to buy these phones (even know there old) go for it. I have heard Sony Ericsson have fixed the headphone problem. The crashing isn't that much of a deal because you just take the battery out & put it back in & start the phone again.
I am buying a new phone tomorrow (W580i) because I want a better camera & want to try out a push up phone. I have heard many problems about them but I'll just have to see what happens.

I've had this phone for almost a year, & I have had no problems whatsoever. The only part of the design I don't like is the spoiler on the back. What is the point of that? the features on the phone are all really good except for the camera which is slightly fuzzy, but that is not what a phone is for. The Walkman is also great & memory cards add to the feature. It is really easy to use & totally suitable for anyone, unless you want a phone with an amazing camera. I hope this helps x.

I had a W300i for over 18 months. It's a great wee phone, the music player is fabulous & the battery life excellent. Keypad, navigation all fine. OK the camera is absolutely rubbish but you don't buy it for that. My only dislike is the big spoiler on the back, I could never figure out what that's for.
I am so disappointed now that I've upgraded to a K850i & it's terrible, I've had 3 handsets, lots of battery problems, touch screen & Bluetooth & to top it off I don't even like the phone, navigation is irritating, it's too thick. Saying that, the camera is excellent.

I've had my phone 6 months & it shuts off by itself several times per day. ATT Sent me a new battery & I still get the SERIOUS ERROR, CONTACT CALL CENTER message. They immediately sent me a new battery. Charged it properly & the phone got this message again. OH LOOK, IT JUST SHUT OFF BY ITSELF WHILE I AM TYPING THIS! WHAT A HOOT! I don't know if fixing the problem is going to help much as my service drops my call all the time anyway. Don't buy this phone. Check ratings to see who has the best service before you commit as well. Also volume is set too low & it is very hard to manoeuvre the buttons. As for the MP3 player, I never us it because my iPod is just easier to use no matter how much I hate to admit it.

I love my W300i, yes there's a few things I'd fix, I'd love to be able to charge my phone in my car while having my FM transmitter plugged in at the same time. The idea of having only one port on the phone wasn't very bright! Other than that I can't complain, I've dropped it on concrete quite a few times, it's gotten wet, & still works fine! As far as using my MP3's as ringtones, I am using the old program I used for my old Motorola, to split the MP3 up into a 30 second or less MP3 & then transfer into my phone via the USB cord. Sounds like a lot of work but only takes a few minutes & gives me the ability to pick which part of the song I want to use as my ringtone, which I actually prefer. I don't text much, so I can't comment on that, & I don't expect much from any camera or video phone but what it takes suits me fine! If I want perfection, I'll use my digital cam. Sony doesn't make you pay extra for their PC programs, you can download it free from their website, unlike Verizon. I've been through many brands of phones & I find this one to be tops actually, I am pretty impressed & I am going on a year with my W300i. I would recommend it! My friends were jealous & went out & purchased new phones that were Walkman like, only to be disappointed & wishing that they weren't stuck in a 2 year contract with a phone that they really did not like. They thought they were going to one up me, but still ended up regretting not getting the W300i!

When I first got this phone I loved it, I still do BUT I am having problems with the Walkman & wondered if anyone can help? Often when I go into the Walkman all my music has disappeared & when I try to play using the playlist, I can still see the tracks there but playback fails. This only happened occasionally but now its most of time so I can't listen to music. Because of this, my alarm & ringtone then defaults to a Sony Ericsson one as my tracks have 'disappeared'?

Had this phone 16 months & have loved it. Had always been a Nokia person & decided to take the plunge away & it proved a good move, nothing against Nokia though. The phone is extremely resilient to accidental damage, I.e. Dropped several times onto concrete & drowned it twice. The phone survived with no problems.
Being a flip phone the screen is well protected, which I think is important. It's great that you are able to see who is ringing & texting you without opening up the phone & if I was to nitpick then I would say this feature needs to have the time lengthened on this view so that you don't have to dash to the phone to see who it is, before it switches itself off.
I have found the reviews really helpful. Cheers.

I've had this phone for just over a year & will upgrade it for another Sony Ericsson. It was going to be the 910i until I read the reports on here. Anyway back to this phone. The keys aren't great, & I have to use my nails to select the numbers & letters that I want, rather than using my fingers or thumbs as on previous phones. I like the navigation compared to Samsung or Nokia etc.
Biggest drawback is the MP3 player. It's great when it works, quality is good, & contrary to what some have said below, you CAN use the MP3s as your ringtones, I do. But I find that it regularly freezes, & the only way out is to switch off & on again. It happens if I select a track to play then shut the phone before it starts playing. It doesn't always happen, but often enough to become frustrating. Also as I plug in & out my headset several times a day, the connection is getting rather poor & I may need a new headset soon. Hopefully it will make it to May when I upgrade.

One of the best phones ever. The camera is OK & nothing to complain about.
You CAN set an MP3 (song) as your ring tone or message tone easily, simply go into File Manager, go down into sounds, select the track you want to use, select more (the top right selection key) select use as & pick for ringtone, alarm signal, message alert, contact ringtone. I worked it out through trial & error.
Another great feature is that you can customise the shortcuts e.g. The navigation key. So it is exactly how you want it to be except the camera is always the up key.
Great sound quality plays louder than most phones. Sony Ericsson phones are great. I've had this since the summer & it is actually the longest I've ever kept a phone for. I don't have any problems with it at all & I am never off mines, constantly texting & phoning!
I recommend it 100% but if you're looking for a good camera phone then it's not for you. Although the quality of the camera on the Sony Ericsson w580i is super! Both Great phones!
Keys don't crack on the w580i anymore. Simple to use both. Sony Ericsson never let you down!

I have had this phone for about 6 months & I have really got bored of it. The phone has its good & bad points.
Bad.
- the camera is awful.
- the central button got dirt inside it after a week.
- the style on the inside isn't great & what an earth is the bump on the top of it for?
- the predictive text is not great.
Good.
- It is great for music.
- Buy this phone for a reasonable price & it should get you going for 1 year maximum.
I think I am going to get the u600.

This phone is really good, MP3 is the best in it a lot of nice features but the camera isn't so great.
I have only got one problem, it's impossible to set songs as ringtones that would be really cool if you could but too bad.

Had this phone for 9 months. Have read some reviews & am quite confused, especially about the ones about texting. You can get currency symbols. You go on more & then symbols & they're there.
The camera isn't good. But then what do you expect for the price the phone is. It's even advertised as being 0.6MP, so I don't understand why people are complaining. The pictures aren't awful I've put some of my pictures on face book, & are better than vga pictures.
This phone is so easy to use. The menu is easy to navigate & is straightforward. I'd never had a Sony Ericsson before this & will definitely buy another Sony Ericsson!
Two problems though. I don't like how you can't take pictures without the phone making a shutter sound, it's very annoying! Another problem is that it switches itself off occasionally, took it to Orange & they fixed it in less than a week (thank you Orange! Much quicker than O2). However it's now having the same problem. Switches itself off about once every two days. Has a 2 year warranty so will just take it back to Orange. My dad has the same phone & this hasn't happened to his. He hasn't had any problems & bought is phone just 2 days after I got mine.
This phone also has a screen on the outside which is useful as it shows the date, time, who's calling when someone is calling you, that you've got a text & who it's from, what song is playing when you're listening to music, & pressing the down (or up can't remember) shows you whether you've got any appointments for that day which you can add in the calendar.
The music player is really good, the phone came with a 256 memory card so can store enough songs & plenty of photos. When playing music through the media player you can close the phone & on the outside screen it shows you what song is playing & & a bar showing the progress of the song. You can also pause, alter volume & skip the track using the outside buttons.
I was a bit wary about the shape of the buttons, but they're easy to use. Again I don't understand some comments complaining about them. I've had no problems & neither has my dad.
This phone has a lot of pretty cool features too. I love the video editing & photo editing. Is very fun & something to do if you're bored? An odd but good feature I found was something called 'music mate'. It has guitar chords which show you where to put your fingers & plays the chord for you so you know what it sounds like. Has a keyboard. But I am not really sure what for as changing the note is quite slow. Maybe you can tune your guitar to it also in music mate is a metronome. You know that thing that ticks at the top of a piano LOL!
Overall I am very glad I purchased this phone! & I would highly recommend it :).

I really love this phone & I am sorry but I don't understand the bad review below mine. When silence or vibrate is selected everything goes silent which is really good & if the key is held with the number on then it will automatically jump to the number! I have only one issue with this phone & that is the quality of the camera isn't great but it isn't top of the range any more, so this is understandable! Very reliable phone highly recommended!

On the outside this is a great looking phone, but after that just what were these designers thinking when it came to features? This phone has great sound for music that is by a long shot its strongest feature. It also looks sleek on the outside. External design, therefore, is 100%. But, here goes.
No sounds should mean precisely that when I get a delivery report. I do not want any sounds on my phone when I tick that option (I am in a library most of my waking time). It is the height of bad manners to have such noises in libraries, concert halls, theatres, cinemas etc, yet I want my delivery reports. Nokia can do this, why can't Sony? It incenses me no end that silent does not exist on this phone. What were they thinking?
The text functionality of this phone is atrocious. I couldn't have envisaged a phone as bad.
- Why on earth does this phone's text not have the euro, dollar & sterling symbols? Is it really that hard to incorporate them?
- Why on earth are the Arabic numerals, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc at the end of a, b, c, d, etc? To get the number 1, for example, you have to press the letter a 13 times! I really want to clobber the person who designed this phone's text features (or lack thereof). It is just an utterly unintelligent design. There is little or no thought, & clearly the same amount of market research.
- I do not need another noise when I go on to SMS 2 & believe me I have all my text sounds on 'silent'.
These are really simple things to rectify. This could be a great phone, but at the moment it is more a nuisance than a joy to communicate with it.

The only reason I bought this phone was because it was a cheap music phone. The phone has a rubber exterior, so it had a grip. I didn't like putting it in my pocket cause of the uncomfortable bulge on the back. The screen & camera was so bad that things looked more like cartoons than real images. The keys were also not the easiest to use. It is hard to navigate, but it works OK as a music phone. It perished, along with my Nano, in the washer, so I now have the RIZR. Good riddance.

Very good phone, simple but sophisticated. Sound quality is great, features & applications are great! The external screen makes life so easy! Texting is easy, phone calls are easy, camera is okay, good but not brilliant. Memory is good, but can be upgraded. The design is rather abstract but stylish & very durable!
Only bad thing I found, the rubber bit on the microphone slides off sometimes, & the screen slowly starts to move around a bit.

This phone overall is pretty good. The Walkman media player is great I love that I have a decent phone with a built in MP3 player. The memory card you get (256MB) isn't the best but it holds up to 55 songs.
I can't wait for the Sony Ericsson w380i to come out though, it is an amazing purple colour with features from the w300i. Overall I would say this phone is a great buy (I got it for £50 in may 2007) & is pretty handy & at least it's not a brick.

I thought you couldn't set your MP3's as ringtones at first too. But if you move your MP3 files into the folder marked MP3 when you're on your computer they'll appear when you go into the sounds & alerts & set ringtone menus.
Camera isn't great though is better in bad light conditions it's better than brother's Sony Ericsson's K550i (that camera is supposed to be 2 mega pixels).
One problem I have is that after transferring a file the screen goes blank & only comes on after pressing the on & off button.
It's a good phone overall for the money & you can get a 512MB Sony pro memory card for £8.00 from Amazon. It's better than the k550i in my opinion although maybe that's just because my brothers got one!

The menu is counter intuitive compared to Motorola's & Nokia's I've had. The flip hinge is flimsy, always knew it would be a problem. Now neither screen will work consistently, nor the built in earpiece. I have to take all calls on the headset or speakerphone. I can't access my contacts.

They is this shop called Vodacom it sells cell phones & puts the prices up in the ceiling, the fact that it comes with a USB cable, quality headphones & disc2phone software Vodacom sells the phone at a high price. I know that I have never begin to the UK, USA & other more developed countries, but t I am not saying that south Africa is not developed it is & I love it. I love the design of the w300i the screen is a bit small but its OK, I am a music person so the phone is perfect for me also love the interface. The phone in South Africa is as expansive as the Nokia 5300 which has a bigger screen & a 1.3 megapixal lens compared to the vga on the w300i.

This was my last phone, I had it for a year & feel it has served me well. Until towards the end when it would just start shutting off on me! I found that if it was knocked slightly or the it was flipped closed, it would just shut off & I would have to turn the phone on again. This may be a common fault having read other reviews.
Freezing of the screen seems to be a fault with Walkman phones (from other review) but I did not experience it with the W300i.
When I first got it, it took a few days to get used to texting with it, it feels different but with a bit of practice, you can text very fast with it!
Battery life is great, I use my phone for texting a lot each day & make a few calls each week & found I only had to charge my phone every 4 days or so.
Walkman feature is good & clear. It was a shame to only be able to fit about 50 songs in the memory I had & not any more.
Great for a flip phone, why are Sony not making any other flip phones like this in the W range? They need more! I have now got a W580i & the battery life so far does not compare! Only lasting about 2 days & I am not even up to my usual texting / calling capacity! (Great phone design though with the W580i!).

It's also very robust, it fell out of my pocket once on Detonator at Thorpe park & fell about 15ft onto solid concrete, & all the damage that was left was a tiny scratch on the corner of the fascia, which could easily be changed.
The Walkman Music Player delivers high quality sounding music & has actually replaced my current 20GB Zen Photo. The features on it are limited but it is simple & easy to use. The camera & video capture aren't as good as I would have liked but what else would you expect from a VGA 0.3MP Camera.
There are better looking phones for sale, but the ability to change fascias gives you a chance to customize it to your liking. Overall it's a very nice & robust phone & is an outstanding phone for its value.

For the first 7 months I have had this phone there wasn't any faults but then after 8ish months it wouldn't connect to the computer sometimes but then after 9 months it wouldn't connect at all so had to get music pieces off my friends instead which was a bit annoying as I use my phone a lot for stuff like that.
Then it started turning off randomly which was annoying & for about 1 month now it will start saying file transfer please remove the cable & I didn't even have any cable in at the time, so I would have to reset it. Now it pops up saying file transfer I click cancel press 1 button & oh there it is again extremely annoying & disappointing. Now when I reset it, it doesn't even turn back on. A friend of mine starting having similar problems just after having it for 5 months maybe slightly less so I would recommend it depending on how long you want your phone & if your a careful person because I have to admit it has lasted a long time seen as I have knocked it about quite a lot & continuously drop it. So yeah decent phone.

My wife drives a stick shift car & was having a problem shifting & talking on the phone. (Try this) The phone comes with an adaptor for Walkman/hands-free, I hook up the cable to the phone but instead of using the headphones I use a double 3.5mm male cable. I hook one end to the microphone & one to the cars 3.5mm aux jack. My truck has no aux jack so I use a 3.5mm cassette adaptor & use my trucks tape player. This works very well, the sound is crystal clear & I can make calls as well as listen to music downloaded on my phone. Two hands-free kits for two cars for less the $20.00 US. It is an awesome phone. A+.

Hello I have had this phone for nine months & I haven't had a problem with it. I think that it's a fantastic phone with great features except the camera as the photos are not of a good quality due to the camera. If you are buying a phone for the camera then this is not the phone for you.
I can get a signal anywhere I haven't had a problem with that which is good as I travel to Wales lot. It is easy to use & I got the hang of the phone immediately. The battery life is fantastic on mine it lasts for ages approximately 5-6 days which I think is a must have for a phone.
The Walkman on the phone is great & it is loud when the phone rings. Overall I think that you should buy this phone as it is reliable & has great features.

The Sony Ericsson W300i is a very handy phone & has almost all features except 3G. Its design is satisfactory but its usability makes up for its poor performance in the design section. It's Bluetooth & infra red is very good & its call clarity & MP3 player are excellent. The camera is a VGA camera so it does not give good picture clarity. Otherwise it is a good value for money.

This phone is great, I've had it about a week now, but there is one thing that's bugging me. The loose screen, it's not a major problem, but it is annoying & I doubt there's anything I can do about it. Other than that the phone is top quality, I've had a Samsung & a Nokia in the past, both of those were mediocre, so I must say that I enjoy having this phone & playing around & exploring. I love the design itself, but as I said before there are a few design faults, but I guess that there has to have a little give in it. All in all, a fantastic enjoyable phone.

I have had this phone for 6 months now & it's been great. The only problem I had was one week into it, half the keypad stopped working, but they replaced the phone for free & I haven't had a problem since.
As the aerial raises the speaker off a flat surface, it produces a loud & clear sound, at one stage I had it downstairs but could still hear the music when I was upstairs. Other than that, there are buttons on the side which make it possible to play, stop & skip tracks without having to open the phone.
As I've had 2 other Sony Ericsson's before this, it was easy to use, but should be simple to use for any user & I quickly got use to the buttons being a bit close together.
All in all, it's a great phone, if you aren't bothered by having a basic camera, every other aspect is top notch for the price you pay ($200 in Australia, there are no other phones available for that price that have as many features as the W300i does) it is also quite durable as I have dropped mine numerous times & it's still soldiered on.
A great phone, which I recommend to anyone.

I have been using this phone for more than 6 months now. I am really very happy with this phone. I recently purchased a 2GB M2 card. Although the phone specification says that it supports up to 1GB only, my 2GB M2 card is working really well. The sound quality is excellent. The LCD screen is also very good & since I was previously a Sony Ericsson (T230) user, I had no problem adjusting to the phone from day 1.
Camera is just VGA which is sufficient for most purposes. Have a big 1MP or 2MP camera only increases size of image & not clarity (as there is no optical zoom in most phones). The photos taken from my W300i don't look so great in the phone screen. But it looks really good when I transfer them to my computer & view it there.
All in all, it's worth the money. W300i is much better & cheaper than Nokia N Series. I am not going to change my phone for at least another 3-4 years & when I do, it's going to be another Sony Ericsson phone.

I haven't dropped it or anything. It's quite flimsy if you wear it hard. The camera is not very good but the music is top quality & it's good the speakers & m2 memory card that came with it as I like storing music on it.

This phone doesn't have the best first impression with its looks. But once you actually take a close look at it, it's actually really really cool. I just bought mine today & for the price it's actually really decent. It does all the basics that all phones these days can do, such as MP3, video/pictures etc. But then again a phone at the end of the day is used to call & text. The only downside for me is this phone is the screen pixels. It makes the phone look cheap but for the price it's a very decent phone & I actually prefer it to my PDA the t-mobile mda compact II. So in conclusion this phone is a great phone to have if you're looking for a basic everyday phone that has probably all the features phones have today. Saves you holding your MP3 player & camera. Thanks loads Sony!

The Sony Ericsson W300i is a good music phone but you only get a 265MB m2 micro card with it & that can only hold around 80 songs. But if you want more than 80 songs you will have to buy a larger memory card & they are expensive.
The manual is not so good as it says 'the w300i can hold MP3 & ACC/eACC+ songs but I have tried MP3 songs & they worked but ACC & eACC+ do not work.
Also if your computer or laptop has Bluetooth you can control it using your w300i's remote Bluetooth control.

Except for the camera the other features (like MP3 player, FM radio, Photo editor, Slide show of Photos, Bluetooth, IR, & especially the feature of using the MP3 player without going into the phone mode in places where phones have to be switched off) are too good taking into consideration the cost factor. Also the built in 23MB & 256MB memory stick expandable to 1GB. Easy file management. You do not have to switch on the Bluetooth or IR for file transfer. It automatically switches on based on the mode of transfer selected. Also allows to create your own melodies. You can edit recorded videos. You do not have to open the phone each time to switch between tracks & easy to use Walkman features. The ease of interfacing the phone to my system. Btw, it is a great phone, very pleased with it so far, the only minor thing is that there are only about 10 ringtones on it (not so bad since you can use MP3).

It took me a while to get used to the keys, & I still can't master too well the Bluetooth, but overall this little phone is really great. It's hard to beat all the cool features it has, at its price. I don't want to go into further details; other people praised it enough. Just noticed that a lot of people are inquiring about not being able to use mp3s as ringtones. I had the same problem; I do have a Fido/Rogers phone, & although one can download mp3s & play them on the phone, they can't be used as ringtones, which is really hard to understand why. Maybe it's a limitation specific to Rogers. Anyways, there is a way to fix that can be found in the forums.

This is a good looking phone that doesn't overstress one particular aspect of its design so will probably not look dated in 6 months.
The screen could be bigger, but it doesn't affect usability in any way.
If you want a camera phone then go for another one. It's good for fun snaps to message people with or to email but it won't give you anything worth printing. Same goes for the video. It's great for phone to phone but won't look good on your comp.
Connectivity is simple. The USB cable & software provided are a doodle to use. IR & Bluetooth work just fine so sharing files is simplicity itself & sticking mp3s on it from your PC is fast & easy.
The music quality is awesome. The supplied headphones are really good quality & if you aren't a fan if the rubber earplug type you can plug in your own. There are also some tiny speakers that came with mine that produce a great sound for a portable unit. The inbuilt speaker is as good as any other phone on the market. The sound processing is definitely Walkman standard & is as good as you would expect from a standalone MP3 player of around the same price.
The memory on the phone is reasonable & the option of putting in a micro memory stick of up to 1 GB (it comes with 256MB) is useful.
The keys look like they'd be fiddly to use despite looking rather cool, but it actual fact they are really easy to use & if anything are some of the best I have tried. They also don't catch on things if you have the case open, which is a good thing.
The user menu is intuitive & straightforward. I didn't need to read the instructions to explore the phone's features at all. It's organised in a way that makes sense. Sony seem to do this really well.
In short, this is a phone to have if you want to listen to music as your main priority & aren't bothered about using it for anything more than the occasional bit of picture & video messaging. Oh, & you can ring people up, too.

Very easy to use. You don't even have to turn on your Bluetooth to SEND any file. Just select send. & VOLA. It's gone! As for using MP3 as ringtone, Go to File Manager>Sound>select a MP3>click more>use as ringtone. Simple.

This phone has basically everything I need plus everything else. The music mate is the best for a learning guitarist. I haven't had much time to get used to it but it seems like an easy to use interface. & for the price, there's not much you really could complain about even if it was bad.

I want to change my k300i with a w300i. Even my friend wants to change its Nokia 6070 because its so bad. After one year of using my k300i it is time to change it. Everything is possible with this w300i, from playing MP3's loud & clear & the way that it looks, I think it's a professional tool for every teenager. I would recommend it to everyone. Oh & by the way with the mem. Card you gain it when you buy the pone you can put on the mobile over 400 MP3's (you must use a good modifying tool, to make the MP3's smaller. Who wants the program (its' freeware of course) only tell me). Bye all. Hope I wrote everything good cause, I am from other country & I want to master English as hard as possible.

Bought this phone for my kid after her razor was stolen at school. She says its way better than her razor. The pics are better & so is the reception. We live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by cows & chickens. We are supposed to be in a semi dead zone & still get 4 bars. Texting is great the key pad could be a little better but my kid has mastered that quite well. The options (music & radio) are said to be awesome. Loves the graphics with the pics really cool looks. Was starting to have trouble with the razor (was only 4 months old. This phone is a deff. Keeper lets hope no one steals this one. (note to parent, please do yourself a favour & get the insurance, it is sooooo worth it)

This phone is easy to use & has some great features packed in there. The only problem is that it's quite ugly, has a rubbish camera - not even 1 megapixel! - & within 2 months of owning it, it started to develop faults! But other than that, it's made me fall in love with the Walkman range, & my next phone will be a W700i. The MP3 player is way above MP3 players on other phones & the sound quality is superb. However, I don't like how far into your ears the headphones go.

This phone has been recommended to me by a family member who used Ericssons for 10 years, & I have to agree, for overall quality, Sony's are top of the line. This compact gadget is small enough to fit in your palm, it easily opens up with one hand & it's lighter than Razrs. It's well equipped with all the latest features. MP3 & RADIO (which is hard to find) are my favorite, the sound quality & reception are exceptional. A reminder that the radio can only be listened with the headset as it works as an antenna. Songs are easy to upload with the Sony software, once it's installed just plug your USB, drap & drop the songs. When you purchase this cell, it comes with the full earphones, so you can actually use this as your main MP3 player. Other phones may have built in music players as well, but you rarely see people listening to them! A MAIN thing worth mentioning for anyone who likes a phone's appeal/design is that the w300i have EXCHANGEABLE faceplates. You can slide/lift the front & battery cover without tools, & replace them with any colors of the rainbow, particularly found on EBay. I have bought some pink & white faceplates for under 7$. I am glad to send pics or suggest links to find such additions. The battery time is an impressive quality, I can leave the phone on for 3 days, turned off at night & I don't need to recharge it. For constant talk or music time, it provides a long 9 hours which is enough for a full day. The camera quality is the main drawback, at less than a megapixel, the quality is rather poor, simulating webcams or other low end camphones. The w300i does a basic job & you can again upload photos via USB in seconds. Some other slight inconveniences are: the small button located in the bottom right to turn on/off the device. The key is a little deep & needs to be pushed with tip of fingernails. The program is very easy to navigate & it's well organized. However, if you download many 3D, Java games, you may encounter some screen freeze. (It happened to me only once) By visiting the Sony website it's possible to download free themes, games & wallpapers, so if you're bored of the original Orange Walkman theme, you may choose from a dozen others. The greatest thing is the expandable M2 memory slot which can be increased up to 1GB, large enough for music, games & other files. Some people have doubts about the round keypad design, resembling interlinking fish scales, but I love them & have had no problem. They have a smooth feel & are easy to press. Unless your fingers are fat, or you have extremely short nails, it may be an issue (like with any mobile phone) . The Orange buttons located on the top left edge used for volume control come in handy, primarily useful to check the time, or missed calls/ msgs. The outer display screen can be lit up by pressing the side button, avoiding having to flip open the phone. Aesthetically, this mobile phone looks much better than conventional flip phones since it does not have the obvious antenna. This an ideal phone for anyone looking for more than a simple communication tool, without paying a hefty price. It provides all the latest gadgets you need with simple to use & affordable package. It is considered to be ranked an intermediate level in terms of prestige/overall quality. Its full price is roughly 300$ compared to certain models that go all the way up to 500-600$. But you will not be disappointed, music quality is superior than standard MP3 phone. The Walkman edition follows its title.

Bought this phone about 6 weeks ago & I love it. The MP3 player is really easy to use & comes with the software which is also user friendly. Camera not great but I don't use it that much. That's what digital cameras were invented for...! Bought a car cassette adaptor & I can use it in the car as mp3 & hands free kit. How cool is that. I think the earphones that come with it are great & they have spare set of rubber ear bits! If you don't like the headphones you can just plug in a different set as the adaptor has a 3.5mm plug. You can also buy covers for it, (eBay) to change the look of it. I got a cool metallic orange one & it looks wicked. Also bought a new mem stick on eBay & can now have up to 250 songs on it.
Overall a very cool phone.

JC, the W300i has a camera support of 0.3 mega pixels (the standard VGA). But the clarity is still decent, but if you are after a phone that will be used for mainly photos, try a phone with at least a 2.0 mega pixel camera, such as the SE K610i.

I got this a while ago & the main things I like about it are its usability. Everything seems *just right* in the menus & shortcuts & what have you. Don't really use the mp3 player, which is a bit of a waste as that's a big feature. Calling quality isn't that great. And volume is quiet & can't be adjusted (I don't think) - I often struggle to hear what people are saying. I have a Samsung x660 (same network) which is much clearer & louder. Design is either love or hate I think. I liked it at first but it's a bit of a kids phone really - all that metallic orange, & why the strange wonky "handle" thing at the top? It certainly catches the eye though, & is very different. Not small, but still compact.
On the plus side it has everything I needed from a phone - Bluetooth, camera (which is not bad), quad band etc etc.
Overall the good points are *really* good. A lot of it comes down to taste re the design. I suggest you go & take a look at it in a shop before you buy. Only real negative for me was calling clarity / volume. But some of that is down to t-mobile being a DREADFUL network for call quality compared to Orange. They're cheap though :)

I am so happy with the Walkman music feature on my W800i that I want it again & I like the idea of having a completely different looking & feeling phone which I will get from this clamshell design. I must have Bluetooth so this phone is the one.
