It was a very good phone to have until I had this red light problem & then it really was bad because it was flashing every minute.

I am using this phone for six months. This phone got good sound with 3 speakers. & 2 mega pixels camera is also good. But I got a memory card problem when I use GPRS the memory card is not working & the phone get hot. What is the reason for this?

A great phone. I had it for one year before anything went wrong. The speaker broke. Features are great considering all I want from a phone is calling & texting. I have an iPod so don't need it for music.

This was my second Sony Ericsson phone, I have now moved on to use the W890i which is also a brilliant phone. When I had this phone I loved it, it has good sound, & an OK camera, it is great to text on, & when in a call the sound quality is great. There were a few problems with this phone though, I thought it had a good design but it was quite chunky, & it does not have a radio built into it. I also found that after I had this phone for just over a year, it started to turn itself off in my pocket, but overall it is a great phone which I would recommend, except now it is quite an old model but it is still good.

Generally a good phone, Good speakers, decent camera, expandable memory, BUT, BIG ISSUE I have with my phone is that it ECHOES! Whenever I talk to somebody they can hear an echo on their phone, I thought it was my phone so I got another one, but Vodafone had told me it is the design of the phone & the placement of the microphone so close to the speakers or some rubbish! They recommend that I turn the volume down whenever I call someone, I hope this isn't with everyone's phone, but I know a few people with the same phone & same problem. Other than that it's a good phone!

It's Pretty good with a 2.0 mega pixel camera, You can now get up to 8GB m2 memory card (I ONLY NEED 2 AT the MOST) the good thing about it is that it's got really good speakers & the ones that come with it are great, Excellent buy for £60.

This phone IS good I GOT IT like 2 YEARS AGO & IT's STILL WORKS. I don't FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH the phone. The SOUND IS REALLY LOUD IT HAS good SPACE. I HAVE ABOUT 90 SONGS & 500 PICTURES. I THINK ITS A good phone & WOULD recommend IT to anyone. The PICTURES ARE REAL CLEAR & YOU GET A USB CABLE & ALL TO CONNECT IT to the COMPUTER. I THINK ITS WELL WORTH 150 & MINE GOT SOAKED IN EVERYTHING & IT STILL WORKS.

An amazing phone & extremely reliable. I've dropped it onto stone & into water (accidentally) phone still worked perfectly. Only problem is the headphones you get with it, they don't stay in so you will have to buy separate headphones but otherwise a brilliant phone, buy it.

I think for the price I paid for it a year ago, £100 was not bad considering it is still working fine. It did get soaked a few weeks ago & did shut down, I was gutted but I stuck it on the heater & took what parts I could of it. Dried it & hey presto it came back to life. My job takes me out in the elements for long periods so I only buy cheap phones, but this shocked me. It hasn't got that silly joystick thingy that breaks on the other Sony Ericsson phones. One of my brothers works on a trawler & he has the same phone & it is still working fine. I cannot comment on all its functions but as I just use it for text & phone but if you are wanting cheap reliability then buy this.

I found this phone very good. Not the best quality up-to-date camera but if not needed, will suffice. Everything is easy to navigate to & set to your own preferences. The supplied PC software easily lets you move, transfer etc. Files from PC to phone & vice versa. I purchased mine for a reasonable £64 at Tesco & am very pleased. There is so much built in for what I believe is a lowish price. One small quibble is it looks like there's 3 small speakers on the back but only 1 is a speaker. The sound could be a touch louder, & also the volume level does seem to go back to half when first turned on.

Reviewer: Jamil - US

Good phone overall apart from when the earphones loses its connectivity, to solve this problem you have to go round embarrassingly with elastic bands round your earphones to keep them in place otherwise you will not be listening to music.

This is my first Sony Ericsson, perhaps my last. Wonderful design but poor performance. No signal strength & if the phone is in my pocket it can't receive calls. Using the SMS function is painful, really painful & slow. Badly designed. I am sorry I didn't go for a Nokia again. Its juts Nokia's designs are very corporate at the moment. I suppose this teaches me for going for the pretty face.

I think this phone is a excellent piece of technology but I think what this phone needs as another feature is a FM radio so you can listen to things not just your own music but the radio to!

This Phone Is Amazing, love It. Last Night I Was Out With My Mates & It Fell Out Of My Pocket : (. I Couldn't Find It Until I Saw A Big 4Wheel Drive Run Over the Top Of It! Then That Was It. It Was Wrecked!
My Dad Offered Me the New iPhone Though & I Said I Wanted the Same One :). I Just Love it. I Would Consider Everyone Reading This To Buy One.
It's Also Great For Music Too. 10 out of 10, BigTime.

Got this phone this year on contract with Vodafone, it started going funny when I made a call the other person couldn't hear me, I was breaking up, my voice was an echo, so I sent it to the shop to be repaired, cost me £20 to loan a phone! Came back OK, the next day it started doing it again! Phoned up Vodafone they said they would replace it got the new one today at 2:30 & by 9:00 it was doing the same again! I am really sick of this phone, if I found this site before I got it I wouldn't have bothered getting it, please do not get this phone it is terrible!

Good features, & would be a great phone if it worked! However, in the 14 months I have had it, it has needed repairing 5 times! This is unacceptable reliability. Also, headphones broke quickly, the phone doesn't appear when plugged into the PC & the bodywork isn't at all durable. I wouldn't recommend this phone.

I have had this phone for approx 13 months. Up until recently it was all fine. It's now starting to switch itself off occasionally. Sometimes it freezes, but generally good reception & good service. The only thing I find a bit annoying comparing to the Nokia which is what I always had is inserting a contact name & number if you wish to text it to somebody. I know you can do it on this phone but it's not so easy. I tried & it did not happen. With Nokia it's very very easy. Apart from that its good compared to some of my friends having bigger problems with their other mobile phones.

Guys you might as well buy an MP3 player because that's all its basically good for. I have mine now for 2 months & the phone just switches off. When I try to switch it back on again it's a even bigger hassle. Like it freezes or something. I have to put the phone on charge to help it on then I have to make sure the battery doesn't go dead otherwise the phone is totally broken. It's a rubbish phone. To get value for your money you can never go wrong with Nokia. I had to learn the hard way so let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.

I bought this phone for my Daughter, she liked it at first until the problems started. Whenever the phone is being used for something e.g. Texting or making a call it turns itself off. I noticed that other reviews said this so it must not just be me. I took it back to the shop but all they did was send it away & put a new battery in, but it is still doing the same thing now. But the music side of the phone is good thanks to her memory card.

Nice work Sony Ericsson. I like it a lot I had dropped it when cycling & it bounces well, resists wet condition & is robust enough to take cycling in the wind & the rain. All the features are well thought out & easy to use. The camera does what is says on the tin.
All things considered it is nearly as good as the K750. But it is a Vodafone phone & cost a lot more that similar phones.

I've had this phone for about 12 months. First thing, I have ever seen any evidence of a RadioDJ, don't know what they're on about there. The memory is way too small, but thankfully, M2 cards have dropped radically in price this past month - from $120AUD for 1G when I first got it (2G just wasn't available) to $49.95 for 2G.
I haven't had any problems with stuck keys, but it's crashed a few times, lost data a couple, & turned itself mysteriously off a couple of times. When the stereo buds are plugged in, it puts the phone out of balance in your pocket, & has to be upside down, which is confusing. I've never been really happy with the camera, but that could be me.
All in all, it's not a bad camera, but I think I'd rather a Nokia, they're more user friendly, more logical. The cover/casing seems to withstand scratches very well, there's barely a mark on mine. The battery doesn't seem to last long. Shame about the silly Vodafone sticker, & logo on the back - I ripped the sticker off, why do they do that, it's not a Vodafone phone, it's a Sony Ericsson!

I have had this phone since February 06 & so far there has been ups & downs, it kept turning itself off when I was in the middle of doing something e.g. Texting. I took it into a Vodafone store & they sent it off to be repaired. Once I got it back it was OK, it has done it once or twice since then.
You don't get a light on the camera which obviously means you can't use it in the dark. There is only one game really to play & that is the Tennis on, the others you have to download to get & you can't even delete them.
It generally is a good phone. Light, easy to carry around & it isn't too big. A good sound system & the speakers that you get with it aren't bad either. There is quite a lot that you can do with the phone, if you how or what your doing.

I have had this phone for 5 months & it has been OK, until now when the profile changes all on its own & the hash key works all on its own! I can't talk to people because it beeps in their ear where the hash key is being pressed, but by a ghost!
Took it to Vodafone store they sent it off for repair which was done under warranty I must say, it come back after 1 week & had its software upgraded. Put my sim card in etc & within a few minute it was doing the same thing again. RUBBISH.

I've had this phone for about 4 months & can say it has served me well. It's extremely light, but let down by its chunkiness, nevertheless the sound quality is awesome. I rarely experience problems with the phone freezing, although when I start reading my messages from the bottom it freezes all the time. I was disappointed that all the games were demos & you have to pay to get them unlocked.
I don't like the style of the back cover but that's just me being fussy, overall it's a good phone & I would award it 8 out of 10.

Bad points - Very thick & design has no character! Included themes like Vodafone Live look rubbish, almost unusable until I got OSX theme. Games all trial for 30 days, just Vodafone maybe & very limited settings. No radio.
Good points - Music quality is excellent, nice external speakers. Battery lasts fair amount of time.

Basically the phone's nothing special. It looks really good, but 6 months into using it, it has become a nightmare. Every time it gets the smallest knock - even dropping into my pocket - it switches itself off. The hash key stopped working & has now started to dial on its own. I've had to give up on this phone & go back to my W800i, which also doesn't work too well, but it's a good 2 years older & has aged so much better than this hunk of junk.

I had this phone for about 6 months, before this one I had a Sony Ericsson f500i the joystick was very bad & the screen was broken in about a half a year. But I wanted to give Sony Ericsson on more chance. With the v630i nice design, good camera. No problems at all until the last month people couldn't hear me & very soft sound with making movies. I send it to the factory. They told me water damage, can't repair. 2 choices send it back for 30 euros' still broken or destroy it nature friendly. I never had it in contact with water. Maybe only used it with some light rain but I think a phone must be able to handle that. Now using my old sagem, maybe no good camera & mp3player. But the sound is perfect & it never breaks down.

Hi, I am from America & I got this phone unlocked for an American mobile phone company as I got my V630i from my son in England. It looks exactly the same as the K618i that we have in America except that mine has a pick-up call & hang up buttons as what the person said two reviews down. It is a great phone overall but it doesn't have auto focus or a flash. I might think of getting the I-Mobile 902 which has an 8.0 mega pixel camera (amazingly) so I won't have to carry my 'bulky' Olympus 7.07 mega pixel camera. I like the V630i for its loudness (louder than any Walkman branded phone) & that it is a great music player. [Word of Warning]: anyone who has a Walkman branded phone might of most probably been ripped off. The V630i is better than the W810i by far in telecommunications & it's cheaper too! Walkman phones are more expensive because they have a 'W' symbol on it & it says 'Walkman'. How this extra paintwork & plastic with a slight modification to the music player skin which the call a 'Walkman' can make it about $30.00 to $60.00 more expensive than a normal Sony Ericsson is a big question to me. I.e. The Z530i & the W300i are EXCACTLY the same except a play/pause button between the volume button, an extra bit of transparent Orange plastic in the shape of a 'W' & a 'Walkman button which simply goes to the 'Now Playing' screen. Perfect example. But Walkman phones are better music players anyway. Great phone, the V630i.

The V630i is a very easy mobile to use especially if you are already familiar with Sony Ericsson mobiles. The first thing I noticed when I picked it up & assembled it all was that it felt a little light but I soon got use to it. After owning the mobile for about 3 months it started randomly tuning its self off but this stopped after a week or so. The camera on it v. Good but a bit disappointed because there is no autofocus but oh well. The V630i is a good mobile & fast on the web so it gives it a 7.5/10.

Please completely ignore the below review. This phone cost me £70, you could get this phone easily with max price of £100. Although the K750i has gone quite cheap it is dated & doesn't posses the latest feature, I compare cameras & the K750i's has a flash & the quality is slightly better but the cameras are bad on mobiles & are just an excuse so that we send picture messages. This mobile is great for value. I got free speakers & a 256MB & it an excellent mobile. The usability is very easy, it even has standard phone answering button rather than having to use the main top two buttons on the keypad which I personally hate, great mobile great value nuff' said.

It's a great phone & it's with Vodafone which makes it a much better. The design is very good. I would give it 100% but the two top speaker outlets don't do anything. They should be covered up really because they don't do anything. It has all the features that I wanted except a camera lens cover, flash (I mean xenon gas flash, not silly LED light bulbs), & auto-focus. I can't get extreme close ups but it has an amazing range of colours in it. The pictures come out superbly on a computer & the actual camera has a 1.92 mega pixel (1600 x 1200) resolution. Not really 2.0 but it's just rounded off. The usability is exceptional & even has the necessary 'pick up call' & 'hang up call' buttons. No other Sony Ericsson that I know of (except the W830i) & that's been a great downfall with Sony Ericsson's. I ask people 'why do you press the return key repeatedly? You press the hang up button to get to standby mode quicker. Oh wait, you don't have one, Ha! Overall, I would recommend it more than the W810i though I would love one to take pictures.

This has to be the worst phone I have ever had, had a K700i, then a K800i which my wife washed in the washing machine. I have resorted to my old Nokia 6310i until I got this heap of trash. At least my old Nokia is still around & working. I await a response regarding the phone but not holding my breath. I was forced to select 5% for usability, I did not want to score it at all.

I've had this phone since last August 2006 & it's been a wonderful piece of kit it's small, light & has all the features I need. Since having the phone I sent it into my local Vodafone shop for repair & after a week went to pick it up. The Vodafone staff member didn't tell me if it had been upgraded as I noticed my message options had changed. The original problem was it kept switching it's self off if I tapped it not even a hard tap just a small nudge just below the volume controls on the side. It was that which was supposed to be repaired but all they did was upgrade the software & reset it.

This phone is OK but in 6 months have had the same reoccurring fault, which has resulted in the phone being sent back 3 times & has now been replaced with a second one which also has the same fault! The problem is when I try to ring a number from the phone using my professionally fitted Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car kit, the phone freezes, which when driving in the UK is a problem as it is illegal to use phone when driving. So I am not impressed with either Vodafone or Sony as they seem not to care about their customers. The actual phone, when it is not away being repaired, is OK' ish, it's extremely slow to respond compared to Nokia's, there are not many applications, games or ringtones, there is no flash for taking photo's even though it has a 2 megapixel camera the photo's are still rubbish! I wish I had chosen the Nokia 6680 (which my brother has) as it is far better & easier to use & the camera takes much better pictures!
All in all I would not purchase another Sony Ericsson, but stick with Nokia, so buy this phone at your peril & expense!

When I first received this phone, I wasn't too keen on the 'Vodafone' branding stamped all over it. I also had to get used to the chunky size (after being a big fan of the tiny Samsung D500 & D600) & the lack of ringtones, text alerts, there are only 5! It's shocking!
Apart from that, it is relatively a great phone, particularly its music features. I was able to download 'full tracks' from the Internet, oppose to part of a track with other brands of phones. The sound quality really surprised me. Even in the highest volume. No distortion.
Overall, out of 10, I give this phone a BIG 8!

My friend recently bought the Sony Ericsson V630i. I had a good look at his phone & I thought it was brilliant. The memory capacity on the V630i is brilliant & transferring images, videos, songs etc onto the phone seems easy enough.

But when I started using it, I realised how brilliant it was! Is awesome! :D the only down fall for it is that sometimes it decides it doesn't want to charge & seems like to turn its self of. Bizarre as it was switching off every other time apart from when it was charging? WELL, What ever they done it worked & no more problems. Moral of this message, SEND IT BACK!

I have just ordered phone because I dropped my Nokia N95 down the drain (how stupid of me). I only had £70.00 left & so I have bought this. It isn't as good as Nokia N95 but it will do.
BEST BITS are the 2MP camera, radio, design, MP3 player, & the speakers.
SPEAKERS ARE SO LOUD IT WILL BLOW YOUR EARDRUM (wouldn't buy if you have hearing problems).
It's also got a massive 15GB memory card, sweet.
It has a good game on it. The funny thing is speed, sometimes fast, sometimes slow.

Had this phone for 5 weeks before it started to get intermittent 'no access to network' messages despite having full signal strength? Some days it does this up to 5 times a day & then it can go several days before the problem comes back. The only cure is to switch it off & on again. I bought mine thru Tesco, who needless to say have not been very helpful, they did say they would send me a prepaid jiffy bag so I could send it back for repair & I am still waiting for it ;- (
Vodafone on the other hand have been very helpful & they say the problem is the phone & not the sim card.
So come on Sony Ericsson is this a design fault as I have managed to track down 2 other people who have the same problem.

Anyone know if auto focus can be implemented in some way? Is the Auto focus function set on the lens, or it can be managed in some hardware/software way without changing the lens or something?
As a review. I really love this phone. The looks, the W button, the menu. But who told you that the buttons lack performance? They are the largest, most efficient designed till now. It's really a 'point-of-view' thing, but please get real - which is better - having a big space to push on or 4 buttons put together in something like a circle. Not comfortable for gaming, or for moving though. W810i isn't that great. Auto focus & Macro mode. Is that all you can afford? Blah. If you want to be a photographer contact my brother's best friend, he can give you like 10MP camera. Sony Ericsson will never make the best phone (e.g. 3.2MP camera like K800i, great looks as W810i, tons of memory in package W850i, best sound V630i (IMO) etc. Auto focus is luxury. Though I am curious how it's implemented.

Had it a few days, here goes:
MP3 Player = Great, but you will need a 2 Gig M2 Memory card to store enough high quality MP3`s, using low quality MP3`s sounds rubbish, you can't get many HQ MP3`s on the 256meg M2 card that comes with it.
Speakers = Sounds Great, thumbs up, but an adapter lead to an amp would be handy.
Headphones - OK, but why isn't there a standard jack plug socket on phone? & the headphones connect via charging point, you can buy a adapter to plug in any headphones.
Wallpaper/Animation (Gif`s)/Pictures (Jpeg`s) = Great, but make sure their 176x220 pixels to fit full screen & watch KB`s for memory space, you can get loads in Jpeg`s or Gif`s from Web FREE & save to computer, then transfer via USB lead.
Video = records fairly good video, but haven't transfer to computer yet, so don't know what it will look like viewed a little larger.
Camera = RUBBISH, 2meg pixel, hard to believe I transfer photo to computer & printed out in 1200 DPI high quality on photo paper & it was distorted, probably not bad to a photo beginner, I know it may look good on screen but wait till it's 6x4 or bigger, my old 1.3MP camera prints up to A4 size.
Calling/Texting = Seems OK at moment.
Bluetooth = haven't tried it yet.
Games = all Demo's
Downloads = £1.50 for some AVOID, get stuff free from web & transfer via USB lead, if can't I am sure someone you know will fill up your phone with games/music/wallpaper/etc, I am 36 & hardly went to school & I can do it.
CD Software = Installed OK had to keep clicking ignore through installing, used several times & works great, works via drag & drop, if no connection unplug USB & reconnect, (click) Sony Ericsson FILE MANAGER (then click) MEMORY STICK (or)PHONE MEMORY, you can delete & drag & drop files from computer, make sure that phone is on USB in CONNECTIVITY.
PAID = £100 on 27th FEB 2007.
BIGGEST LETDOWN = (1) CAMERA (2) NO RADIO (3) NO Jack Socket for standard HEADPHONES.
Hope this will help others.

It cuts out of phone calls for no reason, it won't send messages or call out & receive calls at times either & it also turns off sometimes too. Now I did say I have owned the phone for 3 months, but I have only had the phone in my hands for about 3 weeks because after that it decided to stop turning on, it just flashes a red light on the top. Since then it's been in a shop & I have been told it cannot be fixed, it has no water damage or anything like that.
Next step for me now is to get a new phone through warranty (hopefully see if I can make a deal to get a W800i as I have heard they are better).
Apparently the problem I have had is a common one so beware.

I wish, I wish, I WISH I'd found your website before I found this phone! Wanted this phone so much that I paid $A170 so I could keep my $30/mth contract (rather than opt for the free upgrade under the $A50/mth plan.) But now, I've had it for a month or two & have noticed some funny (& sadly, not haha) things happening to it!
First & fore mostly, the thing switches itself off. Completely. The other day, I thought I may have stumbled across the 'why'- I think it's a problem connected to the side volume buttons.
I have downloaded music tones & music videos, & have noticed the volume is scratchy through the stereo speakers at the back. Remember that old radio you've put in storage somewhere because it had a rattly sound? Well, this is dejavu. Shake the phone & the sound returns in full but only intermittently.
I've uploaded photos & now realise that I've lost certain files from the phone's disk in the process. Probably my fault. Whole music videos have disappeared. Now, I notice also that my options for photography are also missing. Particularly the choice of photographing in black /white, sepia etc (which was something that did impress in the beginning - it had all the capability & quality of my standard digital!)
It's a shame really that this negative stuff is happening to this phone model - as it certainly has so much potential. I am yet to own an MP3 player, but I thought I'd combined it all in this. Hopefully, some whizz will be able to work out why this phone doesn't seem able to run smoothly.

Sent it back for a replacement & seemed fine, then discovered it doing exactly the same thing again! Have just been on the phone to them & I am getting a W850i free upgrade instead. I just hope this one has better luck!

Hi,
I am 13 years old & I am seriously looking at this phone for my birthday. As I have read above there are many mixed reviews of this handset & I was wondering if I could get a solid answer as to how good this phone actually is.

I have heard that this mobile phone is great quality. I can tell you definitely! (Just ignore the bad comments about it as it is not true).

Really wanted the new Nokia but had to settle with this got caught out as the package promised a speaker set which they never sent! & my phone doesn't tell me about missed calls it just brings up the stupid Vodafone live symbol. All in all in a principal a good phone in practice a load of rubbish. You have been warned!

I have just got this phone & it's great! It looks stylish, got a good clear video & camera. Downloads quickly & efficient from Vodafone LIVE. Then you have the quality of the sound, absolutely fantastic! Loads of storage for your tunes. Mind you there are 2 things to pick at, 1) No FM radio 2) Hard to write a text with the small key but hey everything else makes up for that. HIGHLY recommend.

100% spot on - couldn't fault it - everything works - phone is solid & audio quality, music & calls are crystal clear... Even from a step from Nokia phones this is 1st class.

Callers get terrible feedback when they call, I am on my second handset from Vodafone in two weeks, people have started to refuse calling... There is a software upgrade available to download on the Sony Ericsson Website , it worked for two days stopping the feedback but has returned to normal. Personally I would steer clear of the V630i at all costs! Get a Nokia, they work!

On first appearance this phone looks great sounds great & according to the guy in the Vodafone store is great, in reality:
- Loudness of the ring Poor
- MP3 Capability Fantastic
- Predictive Text Ok
- Making a phone Call - absolutely fine if you like wind up calls & nobody being able to hear or understand you
THIS IS A GREAT MP3 PLAYER BUT AN APPALLING FONE AWFUL DON'T TOUCH IT

NICE LOOKING PHONE - SHAME YOU CAN'T USE IT !!!!
I recently upgraded my Sony Ericsson P900i phone via Vodafone to the new Sony Ericsson V630i approximately 3 weeks ago. We have only had the phone for just over 2 weeks & the phone has only been charged only twice.
Today the phone got extremely hot (boiling) to the point were you could not handle the handset, the phone then flashed battery low - it then cut out, leaving me unable to use the phone & contact anyone.
Luckily I took the phone to work today & it was on my desk at all times, as I hesitate to think what may have happened if I had left the phone at home ?
Has anyone else experienced these problems ? If so what can I do ???
Kind regards Miss P Hill

Having looked at a friends phone of this model, I haven't found any problems for this phone. It does lack some features such as:
- No Camera flash
- No Infra red port
- No FM Radio
But If you do not need or use those feature's, than the 2.0MP Camera will be enough to temp you into getting this phone.
Well done Sony Ericsson, again.

Just got this phone having switched between various Nokia, Sony & Siemens models. So far I'm hugely impressed, the features any many & useful, & it is certainly worth spending the time to learn all of the features. The walkman is very good, but it's worth having an extra few quid handy to upgrade the memory card to GB capacity. The camera is excellent & easy to use & even the onboard photo editing software works surprisingly well. All in all it's an excellent phone. Call quality is very good & thank the maker the predictive text learns which are your favourite words in a group & lets you use them first. Proper chuffed.

Ordered this as an upgrade to my T630. I've sent it back right away in exchange for the K610i. Yes they are basically the same phone but the case design of the 610i IMO is much better - more ergonomic, better to hold in the hand. The 630i felt like a small plastic brick not a nice shape. It would certainly appeal to a younger person, but not me. Yes it does come with 256 RAM but no big deal, the 610i has 64 as standard which is plenty for me & you can always upgrade & it's not expensive for the chips.

I would not recommend this handset to anyone. Previously owning a W800i that I was really happy with I recently upgraded to the V630i.
- The keypad is not comfortable & many times while texting you slide to the wrong key
- The joystick of the W800i, has been replaced with a button within a circle, again, very uncomfortable & often you slide to the outer circle.
- The customisable shortcut option does not exist. As a business user I would like easy access to necessary features (Bluetooth, alarm, timeset...)
- Worst of all, I've been told from the people that I've been speaking to that there is a constant echo that they hear, which disappears only when using the Bluetooth handset.
The only advantage on the W800i is the speed (3G), but this of course shortens the battery life significantly - even when manually set to GSM (2.5G.
Do not bother with this phone!

Not a bad phone at all. Looks great & the 3G capability are next to none. The MP3 capability is strong & the strength of the speakers for the size of phone is impressive. The quality of pictures is a little grainy but the software available to edit your shots on such a compact phone outweighs the graininess.
There is one main problem through....
....If you receive a txt message with a link in such as email address or phone number, use that link then attempt to delete the txt after the phones response is "message in use" & denies you the ability to delete. I'm not sure if this is just a one off with my handset or anyone else has experienced such difficulties?

This is a great phone that could have been one of the very best if it wasn't for Vodafone's heavy-handed modifications.
There are lots of things to love about this phone, the basics like calling & messaging are well implemented & fast. The screen is very bright & clear even in daylight. Battery life so far seems great.
Then there are the annoyances: When the SE walkman 810i came with such great headphones, what was the thinking behind bundling this one with such a cheap set? The headphones are plasticy & poorly designed - too big to fit comfortably & not the best sound quality. What's more, they only connect by the Sony connector so you can't even replace them for better ones.
Then there are the major problems created by Vodafone: The camera that lets you take a picture & only send it by Voda's paid MMS service - not by Bluetooth (you have to go into the file view, browse to the picture to send by BT - looks like voda forgot to lock that one out). You can't edit your data settings, voda have locked all the profiles so you can't, for instance, turn GPRS from "always on" to "on when needed" to save some battery life.
Once the garish bight red Vodafone-designed colour scheme starts to grate, you'll be able to change to a more classy Sony Ericsson theme, but don't expect those locked voda menu icons to change. Try to download a new theme from the SE wap site & you're told "this download is not permitted" - more voda lockouts? The biggest disappointment by far was the Radio DJ - it requires 3G coverage to work, & I've yet to manage to get it to play - even in a 3G area with the 3G icon displayed, it claims that you buy streamtime from Vodafone. I would MUCH rather have had an FM radio instead.
So overall, a disappointment - not because it's bad, it's not, but because it could have been so much better if Vodafone had left it alone.

Hi, I need to upgrade my phone at the end of next month & love the look of the SE V630i. Anyone know when it's released in the UK? It has everything I need & want with a super video, camera & music features. Radio DJ will be good. I am a Vodafone user & always will be, as they provide me with great coverage at all time. I don't like change & this will be my 5th SE phone. I love the menu layout on the SE phones & their smooth styles & designs. Please advise when available & a price guide would be much appreciated? Thanks

Not got the phone but don't think it is available yet anyway. Cracking looking handset with wicked features. Very interested in getting it, great size handset & the memory will be pure pleasure as I have never got enough memory on my phones. I will use the video feature & enjoy the blog site. Cracking design & technology by Sony Ericsson.
