Sony Ericsson T280i Review

The Sony Ericsson T280i is a neat & simplistic looking mobile phone which comes with a selection of easy to use features. The T280i is a member of the Sony Ericsson T range which includes other mid to lower end of the market mobile phones including the Sony Ericsson T270i but the built in features do vary slightly on each handset. The T280i is highly attractive to look at & gives a sophisticated feel with its sleek metal effects & neat navigation key. The user can choose between silver on black coloured casing or a copper on silver coloured casing which are both highly effective colour options. The T280i is a compact handset which comes with no fancy opening mechanisms & measures 100mm tall by 45mm wide by 13mm deep. On the front of the mobile phone is a stylish square cut metal navigation keys which gives the user total control when selecting features & menus. A bright 65k colour screen which is 1.7 Inches in size is situated above the stylish navigation key & keypad.

A built in camera feature allows the user to take a quick shot whenever the mood takes them. The camera is a 1.3 megapixel camera which comes with a built in zoom feature which allows the user to get up closer to their subject. The camera feature comes with direct interaction with the phones messaging services which allows the user to send their photos directly to friends & family via the MMS messaging service. The user can create a MMS message either directly from the camera feature or by accessing the messages menu. The Sony Ericsson T280i supports both text messaging & multimedia picture messaging. The user can create, send, store, delete & forward messages on their handset. A MMS message is easy to create as the user selects a photo & adds some text to the messages which can then be sent to any MMS phone user or an email address.

The Sony Ericsson T280i supports MP3 ringing tones which allow the user to hear their favourite songs out loud each time a new call comes in. The mobile phone supports Java™ applications & games which allows the user to enjoy a fun & fast games experience on their phone for entertainment. A built in radio feature provides the user with music, news & much more information whilst the user is on the move. The built in FM radio comes with a RDS radio feature which provides on screen information for the user to read whilst listening to their chosen radio station.

The user can connect their Sony Ericsson T280i to other devices using a Bluetooth® wireless connection which means the user will not need to be tangled up in wires when downloading photos or ringing tones. The Bluetooth® wireless connectivity allows the user to connect their T280i to other Bluetooth® compatible devises including PC's, laptops & printers. A built in Web browser allows the user to access the World Wide Web to search for ringing tones & much more information. A speaker phone feature allows the user to take a call or switch a call to speaker call which allows the user to hear their contact over the phones loud speakers & provides the user with a handsfree call. The user will enjoy the user friendly features & controls on their simply sophisticated Sony Ericsson T280i.

It is an office phone I got it for Xmas & I hate it I had to delete all games & themes just to have 10 small songs! Better of getting a Walkman of any kind!

Got it as a gift, only the design is good rest all waste. No memory space at all, hardly can save 6 to 7 small songs. Battery runs down when using FM, so because of this I don't ever use FM. Luckily I got it as a gift & I didn't spend anything.

Nice looking phone, nice & slim & small, easy to use & messaging is really good aswell, good for the credit crunch £35 on Orange with £10 credit. Lacks video but camera is average, Bluetooth also good, Internet is good also. It's simplicity, good usability & design makes this mobile stand out & for a very good price aswell. Worth the buy if your struggling for a cheap but good mobile. 8.5 out of 10.

The Sony Ericsson t280i is a very light & a calm phone compared to the other one's in my family like the w910i, the t280i is feature packed with bluetooth & 1.3 megapixel camera with 4 x zoom but the thing I was a bit disappointed of is it does not have video & very less memory I put 5 songs & 15 pictures & it said memory full.

I am thinking of getting this phone, but am just wondering about a few things people have said.

With the memory not being very big, does this prevent getting a certain amount of contacts on your phone?

Also how many songs & pictures can you get on the phone?

Thanks.

I like the phone design & it looks cool when I hold it on hand. If compare the features & the usability, T280i is considered normal & not so special to me. It is suitable for those guys who like the normal function such as SMS & call only. No worries, this phone makes you look smart too. I want to stress again that the T280i looks cool too!

Given this phone as a Christmas present, used it for a three weeks & now gone back to my Nokia 6030. Struggle to hear person I am speaking to, so I have been told use a Bluetooth but that doesn't work either. Resets it self, phone switches to emergency calls only, so I can't make calls or nobody can ring me. Rubbish phone, took back to Carphone Warehouse & because I am with T mobile was told they would not give exchange or refund.

It is a bit rubbish that you can't connect to your PC even with a USB cable. I went & bought a USB cable today & all it does is charge the silly thing. To be honest if you want a simple phone this is the one otherwise, stay clear.

The phone market is obsessed with gadgets that people don't really need. This phone is perfect for a large number of people who just want to call, text, use the calculator & listen to the radio! Simplicity is best! The design is nice, it looks smart for a budget phone & the features all work fine, especially the radio (having RDS is a real bonus).

It is also good that it comes with a paper user guide rather than the usual go online for a PDF file or CD user guide.

I haven't had the phone long but it seems durable, my last phone was a Sony Ericsson K700i & I had that for over 3 years without much trouble.

You were mugged! £19 from Carphone Warehouse, a deal not to be missed. I purchased one yesterday for my girlfriend.

It is superb, I love it, no more stupid functions that I don't have time to use! Its looks great, feels great & works great.

I put it next to my Motorola RAZR & it's even smaller!

I purchased one for myself today, I am extremely pleased.

I bought this phone because my brother told me it was good, received it the next day in a parcel. Next thing I know I just bought a lump of rubbish. Restarts all the time & the keypad is just. Please if anyone wants it. Just ask.

Oh & another thing. It looks rubbish. Cost me £90.

Got this for £40 on pre pay as a second work number. At that price the lack of features is easily overlooked. The handset is very well made, has a loud ringer & an excellent battery life.

There are no extras here, but if you want a basic phone for calls & texting this is it.

It's stylish alright. Good for the simple type of persons who are satisfied with simple features like able to text & call. & also for those who are fond of taking pictures. But for those who are fond of changing their themes, sending audio messages to friends, capturing videos & sending them through MMS, transferring files from cp to PC through USB cables, THIS IS NOT the PHONE FOR YOU!
