Sony Ericsson S700i Review
The S700i has similar functionally to the Sony Ericsson K700i but the S700i includes a memory stick option. The S700i was first released into the Japanese market as a prototype & it was know as the Sony Ericsson S0505i.
The screen is 2.3" in size & provides a fabulous image quality. The S700i produces a fantastically clear & real picture. The camera is very simple to operate, all the user has to do is simply slide open the lens cover & the camera will be ready to use. The screen works as a viewfinder & all the user needs to do is snap away. The built in 1.3 mega pixel camera comes complete with 8 x digital zoom & a camera light. Sony Ericsson S700i gives a high quality finish to the photos, which is very impressive.

Messaging is always important for todays mobile phone user & Sony Ericsson are one step ahead of the game when it comes to messaging services. The S700i comes complete with text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS), enhanced messaging service (EMS), email, QuickShare™ & My Friends™ messaging. My Friends messaging feature allows the user to get in touch with contacts very quickly & easily. The user simply see who is online & can then send messages to either the whole contact list or just pick separate contacts to have a conversation. MMS allows the user to send photos, video clips, text & sound clip to other users that have the MMS facility.
When the S700i is closed you can still receive calls, redial & browse the main menu. The S700i only needs to be opened when dialing a new number or inputting text. If you do not use text messaging often & only call numbers from your phone book, you will hardly ever need to open the S700i.

I bought my S7001 from a friend about 4 years ago & goodness knows I cannot let go of this phone even if a can has ran over it & now I watch it laying there & I can hear every feature beckoning to me to have it repaired. The thing is I can't get parts in my country & I cannot afford to bring parts in. The housing is damaged, the screen is damaged, the LCD lens is broken as well but this baby still powers up & gives me indication that there is still hope. Could someone please help me to restore my phone, I need my phone back.

Hi Folks! What can I say, I have had this phone over 3 years now & that was after I bought it second hand! I paid £90 for it which seems expensive now but it has more than paid for itself & it is still going strong after over 3 years hard treatment. My phone is physically quite worn looking & I have dropped it quite a few times, also there is a burn mark on the casing where it nearly caught fire when a dodgy lighter was left burning next to the phone. Despite this punishment it's still as reliable as ever.
Amazingly I am still finding new features on the phone & I am very impressed with the feature packed software on the phone. I have been able to download dozens of brilliant games (many are 3D Doom, Ridge Racer etc) & other software. Even for a phone that it over 5 years old it still has many functions that you still don't get on more modern phones. I have seen S700i phones now selling second hand in places like cash converters for under £20! Bargain! Put it this way if you are looking for a phone that is reliable & good quality, has a great camera facility & is easy to use then buy an S700i. They were top of the range when they were released & expensive too, but that means they were built to last & beat any phones made in the past few years & to date hands down.
Get This, My network has offered me a choice of a new upgrade phone because I have built up reward credit of £50, I can't find any phone in their current range that has better & more features than the S700i, five years on! How mad is that! I tell you, you're better off saving money buying a second hand one of these than buying a brand new & cheap phone. You won't regret it. Touch wood my S700i will still around in another 5 years!

I love my phone. I had a new one bought for me but went back to this one. I have dropped it several times & it never fails. So easy to use the calculator on shopping trips. It's a bit bulk but hey that's a small price to pay. The little rubber covers for access holes fall off when used a lot. Best phone I ever had.

The phone is good but using so much opening & closing the opening & closing part can brake so fast after 1 year if you don't use it much! It's is very bad phone.

I think the phone is OK but after a while the back cover keeps coming off.

I don't think of switching to another unit of mobile phone that is on the market today. S700i has been such a good friend of mine since I got it. You can never get bored in life when using this phone. It was released 2004 & yet I can say that the s700i never loses its cutting edge capabilities. There's so much to do in using the s700i from simple texting to playing great Java games.

Can't imagine going to any other phone after this one. Only complaints; not able to get rid of the games & free up the extra memory, the end cover for the plug-ins falls off all to easily (the little thing has gone now & can't get find where to get a new one), & the available carrying cases do not have an access hole through which to plug in the hands-free.
I have dropped this phone numerous times & nothing breaks, other mobile phones where trash after one fall. I like the weight of it; I know when it's not in my pocket so can't forget it.

I love it! The camera is very good for a 1.3MP because of the ccd, only thing is that it can't play video full screen, & does it really support pro duo?
I love the design very much too, it looks like a camera from the back!

I loved it. The only thing is stock like someone else said u cannot expand above 128mb. I unlocked that now I can have 2 gb & use the pros. But seriously I think Sony Ericssons designs have topped out.

I can't wait to get my hands on this phone...presently, am using a Nokia 6600 & have always been a die-hard Nokia fan, & I was hoping to upgrade to nokia 6280. But after reading views on dat fone, I think am gonna switch camps. My friend has dis S.ericsson S700i & d fone is off-da-hook...& after having d privilege of using d fone for a day, all I can say nw is ...am coming after u S700i!!

I've had my s700i for about a year now, I bought it 2nd hand off Amazon, it's a good phone. I had a k500i before & I hated that phone for its annoying little joystick (which eventually died). I'm se through & through but this phone was a bit different. The camera is good for a 1.3 mp, the sound is excellent, & the screen is just jaw dropping. I like everything about it, although it does slow down at times. The only major problem I have with this phone is that you can only use up to a 128mb Memory stick duo, this is annoying as if you like your music or taking tons of photos as well it runs out fairly quick, plus it doesn't support the new ms pro duo cards either. Anyway ive just ordered a w810i & that should meet my demands!!!!
I just cant believe that Sony Ericsson has put that stupid joystick back on again on the cracking k800i, I would of purchased it only to be put off already by the joystick but really SE really needs to get their act together if they want to compete with Nokia, Samsung LG etc it is the most common fault with the SE phones.

The SE S700i has an impressive digital camera. Excellent messaging facilities & the connectivity is second to none. The opening mechanism is very impressive & this phone gets much attention from my colleagues.

Looks great, works well but not a comfort facture to this Sony S700i. I had this phone for a trail & just could not get on with it, the whole feel was heavy & inputting text was awkward. Emailing was a total nightmare. Try before you buy, I think it is the way Sony layout there buttons.

Sony S700i really is a neat & good looking phone. Loved the way it opened from day one, that is what first attracted me to the Sony S700i from my Siemens SL65. Love the built in camera has a fantastic quality & a super zoom. Great screen quality.

Fighting over this phone. My Mum has it but me & my sister want it, we keep telling mum it is far too modern & young for her. I will let you know if I get me grubby hands on it, my Birthday is 3 months away, if I don't get Mums I will ask for it for my Bday.

S700I is a quality phone & it feels quality, its a rather heavy compared to other phones but this gives it a really good feel of quality. The video recording facility is very easy to use & produces an excellent recording. Like having the FM radio & the sound is amazingly clear for a phone. Emailing is slightly fiddly but that is the only negative from me. I am very pleased with my phone & would recommend it, I have already, most of my work force want one & the whole of the Black Lion are shopping for it as I type. Haa Haa Haa...

Too heavy for a mobile phone these days, my boss has got this phone & I have to comment on the weight of it. The lighter the better, remember that when designing Sony Ericsson.

Looked at the S700i but it aint for me, a bit too pricey & too many features that I wouldn't know what to do with. I like the look of it but that is where it ends for me.

My previous phone was a Samsung & now my new pride & joy is my Mini Cooper S & my Sony S700i. The car is cool, the phone has it all & gets lots of attention. The girl is just happy to have it all. My Sony phone is totally fabulous & so simple to use, by the way I am a natural blond so it must be easy to use.
