I've had this phone for a few days, too short to actually give a full review on this. This is pretty much like my earlier phones W810i (best), & K750i (joy stick was bad). My only worry is about the joy stick. I had a terrible time with joystick of K750i. Really hope this phone has a better quality joystick.

I see lot of people have complained about the lack of skipping or forwarding feature in K790i. But it is there & I use it frequently. You have to use video player to use that feature & the key to do it, keep holding the joy stick in right or left direction.

I have now used it for more than 5 months & have not had any problem hitherto with joystick. & mind you, I use it extensively as I play a lot of games on it & even watch movies on it.

The problems I felt.

- Noisy Pictures & terrible video. Don't how it qualifies for a cybershot.
- Video player & browser plays Houdini when you get a call. These things don't have reusability.
- After 5 months of ownership the keypad seems feeble now.

I've had this phone for over a year now. Did not have any complaints initially but now the phone has started acting up. It does not detect the inbuilt memory card & the joystick has started freezing up. Also, at times while browsing through the phone it just goes dead! This is the first time I have used a Sony Ericsson phone & I would advise one to go for it if you are the sort of person who keeps changing their phone regularly. On the positive side, the phone is very attractive & has good sound & picture quality. Video quality still remains bad. As for me my next phone is going to be a good old Nokia. Hope this helps.

The design of the phone is great. Well placed camera & flip on the lens makes it more beautiful. Key placing & joystick are also great. This phone looks nice in black colour.

I have had this phone for a year. I have always had Motorola's previously & been very pleased with them, however I was recommended this phone when I upgraded. It has been a disaster & I would not have a Sony Ericsson again. I notice people have been querying about the joystick feature on this phone, mine worked intermittently & now rarely works which is very frustrating. It frequently freezes & is basically a complete nuisance. On that basis I cannot recommend this phone, it is the worst I've ever had.

I just bought this phone 3 days before it, s simply rocks. It's got lots of features. It got cyber shot lens xenon flash. Great clarity man this phone is awesome in mobile phone it's great go for it, don't think that much 3D game engine make lots of games work every java game can work on it nothing more it rocks.

My K790a will FF & fast RW through music by holding down the joystick in either direction. I don't know about the K790i, but I don't see why it would be any different.

With the HBH DS220 Bluetooth, you can use any headset you want, with amazing sound quality.

My only negative is that I wish it has the recessed lens cover like the K810, but aside from that its easily the best phone I've ever had.

It's a good buy. Things I am worried about the phone.

- Lens cover.
- Joystick.
- the autofocus lens ( strange sounds coming while auto focusing) tick tick sound.
- Fading keypad.
- Scratches on the lens cover which is prone to heavy scratching.


Things which made me happy abt buying this phone.

- 3.15 MP camera (of course) with xenon flash one of the best in its class.
- Sound quality better than I expected. Nothing much with the provided headphone but I am using my w700i's in ear headphone which is really cool.
- Design. Everyone's eyes are on my phone, shining lens cover. Overall design & size just perfect.
- Can read perfectly while outdoors even in blazing sunlight.


Things which made me really sad about the phone

- Poor video quality when compared to other 3.2's in its class.
- Screen refresh rate too low. Scrolling thru menus almost looks like a slide show rather than a smooth sliding effect.
- No forwarding through music (everyone is irritated with that).
- Keys a bit hard to work on. Extra pressure need to be applied when compared to other phones in its class.


Overall this phone is a rocker. Enjoy the Magic of Sony Ericsson.

Real super phone. First phone I have used for more than a year & still not willing to change. It comes with almost all features like MP3 player (super hands-free performance for MP3), excellent 3.2 mp camera, & speedy Internet. I brought it for 20k 1 years back, now its price has come down to 13K, yet still I got an offer for my mobile for 12K (maybe because of the way am taking care of that set) & always Sony Ericsson phones have good resale value also.

Better go for K790i if you are preferring phones with good camera, Internet connectivity etc. Only small disadvantage is the shape (projection) due to the camera cover & it is hard for me because of this to laminate the phone.

Apart from that, overall very good phone.

I buy this phone after a deep research. Initially I am confused to buy between K790i & W580i. W580i is sliding & good designed phone however K790i is having 3.2 megapixel camera which is awesome.

The camera & sound quality is good. I am loving it. Hope you will do too. I will give more updates after more use of the phone.

Awesome with its camera. Bought this mobile 12hours back. Internet browsing speed is much higher compared to my previous Nokia 3230. Don't about battery back up. Can anyone tell me how the battery back up? Audio is really good. But volume is less. Try listening in a silent place. Sounds good. Audio clarity is good. Display clarity too is awesome. But the drawback is video volume is poor. Video is not good. Video getting scattered. If you are a camera lover & an Internet lover just go for it. Altogether I am satisfied with its performance only because of its camera. If you have this mobile no need to go for a digital cam. K790i rocks.

In my opinion this handset is a copy of Nokia N73 in design but the screen is smaller if the company had given us the bigger screen then this set was fit with name Cyber-shot because if this mobile phone is based on camera work then the screen should be bigger too & the lens cover should be strong its weak.

Excellent phone & camera functionality. I am satisfied also with ability to synchronise with Outlook for tasks etc. I am VERY disappointed by the music function. The music player is really simplistic. The sound is OK, but what causes irritation is the inability to FF or rewind through tracks.

Sony is a great manufacture of super cool and sleek phones with equally hot features.

Best part:
- Great camera, 3.2 megapixels is wonderful, pic quality is at its best.
- Loads of storage, comes with an internal memory of 78 MB with an expandable up to 2 GB.
- FM-listen to music from your favourite radio stations.
- Speakers, they work really well if you are sitting in a room with minimal amount of noise. DONT COMPARE THEM WITH WAKMAN SERIES.
- Headphones, these are good with Sony keeping their original digital sound intact with it.
- Flash, xenon flash. It's the best & only cell in the market with xenon flash & the rest when you actually buy it & explore it.

Drawbacks:
- Video, it's still not up to the mark & flash doesn't stay on throughout the video.
- Hanging problem, it gets usually hanged in b/w usage while using GPRS.

The bottom line is it's the BEST BUY IN ITS RANGE!

I though this was the best phone I have ever used. I'm a little disappointed. Headphones became idle in a month. No skip option while viewing video. You can't save two or more mobile numbers under one name in the same category. But I love this phone.

Hi, the K790 is an absolutely GREAT PHONE.

It has the camera, it has the design, it has the style, it has the Xenon Flash, it has an amazing Zoom, it has the RESOLUTION (Best in the market with 2' screen in my humble opinion) & it has the Music & Video Player.

Very friendly user interface, easy to use & with lots of features. If you like Sony Ericsson, as I do, you'll love it.

The ONLY disadvantage that I could find, was that it doesn't have a really good video resolution, as it should have. Anyway, I love it.

Hi, I don't know what this is anyway but I know one thing for sure that this is a rating area. I am really having a good time with my K790i. Ask me why? cos it has this sophisticated all in one intelligent stuffs embedded with its one of a kind Sony CYBER SHOT technology. The fact is that this is the coolest electronic gizmo I have ever had.

Believe it or not it has an excellent music quality. The best in its class according to me. Then the workmanship of this awesome product is really jaw opening, it might be funny that I won't even attend the call but instead watching the masterpiece & its beauty. You can't take your eyes out it guys believe me. The phone reaches its sky limits. Sony Ericsson ROCKS MAN!

The day I bought this cell, after some 2 hrs, it developed problems. The voice was coming broken. I returned the cell, they initially told software error and later hardware complaint. Asked me to wait for 2 weeks for another new kit. I got the new kit after some 3 weeks, & to my dismay the whole audio output was not working. The whole speaker was damaged. I had paid 18000 rs and got a cell full of complaints. They ten gave me a brand new set, the 3rd one I got. Hmmmm. 3 days passed, till now no probs.

Now about the features. The camera is awesome. Superb pic quality. But the audio output is low compared to 750i. The output from stereo headphone is OK. The voice is low, so it's difficult to hear in noisy places. The internal memory is too low. 68MB. & the memory card is of micro type, which is too costly. & the joystick often develops problems. & the service centers of Sony Ericsson are not customer friendly. After one service, they say it's due to water damage, which is of course wrong.

So my personal advice is, go for a reliable Nokia mobile phone if you don't want to lose your money and invite problems in your mobile phone.

First I had a Nokia 6600, after that I was using a Sony Ericsson W800 for few months & now I bought a new Sony Ericsson K790/K800 phone. I just prefer this phone becoz it was kind easy to use W800 & the features are almost same but it have a great camera. So that I can't miss any picture at any time. So better go for a phone which has a great camera + music player etc stuffs. But still it's not so easy to get software's/application for Sony Ericsson phones like Nokia one, that's only the weak point I guess.

I bought this phone last MONTH & I am very happy with it, it has a great camera the xenon flash is awesome, the audio is great BUT VOLUME OF SOUND IS LOW BUT NOT A BIG PROBLEM, you SAVE the SONG INTO your PHONE WITH INCREASE the VOLUME OF SONS WITH the HELP OF RECODER OF WINDOW, good features & very easy to use.

I had a Nokia 7610 before this k790i & I was at a doubt whether Sony is easy to use or not, but I was wrong it is very very easy to use just like Nokia.

I was planning to buy n73 but ppl told me about the software problem, thankfully I choose Sony, It's amazing & comes with a good price tag.

The only prob with this phone is the external memory, only 64MB & buying a 512MB will cost around Rs3000 bcoz it's a micro memory (new technology).

It is best phone of 2006, better than n80, n73 & n93. ANY PROBLEM IN your SET PLZ MAKE POST

The phone is good, especially camera. But the main problem is software, thus it is always hanging. After monthly using this phone it crashed (the software). They changed it for a new one. Now I don't trust this phone. & people say the Sony Ericsson phones lack good software. I am thinking of changing from Sony Ericsson to a Nokia smart phone.

P.S. But the camera is really awesome.

Let me first point out the defects.

- The sound recorder: When I record a conversation, my voice is recorded in a distorted manner as if a buffalo is talking while the voice at the opposite end is recorded clearly.

- The volume is very low when compared to the Sony Ericsson k750i & other phones as a result of which it is difficult to hear outdoors while marketing, travelling etc.

- The lens cover appears to be out of place. Had it been the one like available in Sony Ericsson K750i it would have been handy.

Apart from the definitely Ericsson makes a change in its software for the k790i & removes the above said defects, I think the K790i will be one of the best phones.

K790i is really a great phone. The phones camera has good quality because its 3.2 mega pixels. It has a great camera the xenon flash is awesome. A muss buy phone! I am really impressed by Sony Ericsson. I have got the k750i rite now & its damm gud! The k790i with edge and a 3.2 mp is awesome. MY NEXT PHONE OFF COURSE. I bet Nokia won't have a chance of coming near Sony Ericsson even in the next two years.

For me it is Zero but the option of selecting Zero for Design, Features & Usability are not available. I bought this phone from Delhi (India) on 14-10-2006 but it stopped working on 16-10-2006 in Brazil. Send few e-mails to Sony Office in India but to date there is not response.

Quite frankly, I was disappointed by the 790i. No failures with regards to the device, but some niggling problems which would be non-existent on a Nokia, still ere. You can change profiles, but NOT your ringtone... What??! Wait, it gets better... Video viewing, sure, great, wonderful... NO navigation thru videos... yea, tat's right... If u didn't like a part of the movie... too bad... Sound a BIG minus... I know it's a phone with a 3.2 meg cam an all bells & whistles attuned to the picture taking user... But doesn't u think, when a guy who paid about a whole fortune less for his K610i belts out songs that drown out your so-called premium phone?? Why do they STILL persist with the joy (??)stick?!??! I assign the custom short-cut key once (right joystick movement), twice, thrice... arrrrghhhh, I put in a 512mb micro & the device can't even remember THIS???!?!!

Bought a K790i 5 days ago & loved its looks & the features. 5 days after I bought it the microphone packed up suddenly. The Joystick also did not respond a number of times. So disappointed & going back to reliable Nokia.

K790i is really a great phone. But got scared of the joystick feature as many of my friends own k750 & w800, they says the joystick get damaged very soon & the repairing cost is very high & it is also difficult to find any authorised service center closed. Please any body help me whether the joystick is reliable or not in the phone & also to buy or not. Thnx

A muss buy phone!!! Im reeely impressed by SE... i have got the k750i rite now & its damm gud!!! the k790i with edge n a 3.2 mp is awesome. MY NEXT PHONE OFF COURSE. I bet nokia wont have a chance of coming near SE even in the next two years. BRAVO SE... KEEP UP THE GUD JOB

Loving the design & capabilities of the Sony Ericsson K790i & the Sony Ericsson K800i. I am not sure which one I will get but the camera capabilities are brilliant. These are great new phones & they are two phones that Sony Ericsson can be very proud about. Loving the entire look & specification on these phones.

3.2 mega pixel camera phone, fantastic & the performance should be outstanding. I have got a 2 mega pixel camera phone & the photo quality is extremely high quality on my phone so a 3.2 mega pixel will be as good as my digital camera at home. Edge & Bluetooth will really provide this phone with the power, speed & flexibility that I would want on a phone. I like the design of the phone & I am pleased Ericsson did not use a clamshell opening phone for this design. It would of been good to have a choice of colours so for that reason I will rate the design a little less than I was going too.
