Have owned 4 Sony Ericsson's before this one, & I can safely say, the best by a million miles. The camera takes a while to take decent photos & needs time to adjust to the steadiness of your hand, but that's not a problem. The 3G is brilliant, works very well. I have this phone on a 3 Contract for £18 a month, which then makes the phone even better, with 30 Video calling minutes free, & MSN for free, anytime of the day. The battery life is great unless you use the MP3 player, which by the way is beautifully designed, the sound quality is brilliant, as are the headphones included. The keypad is great & very easy to use, & what is very good is that there is no joy pad, so never irritates your fingertips! The navigation is one of the simplest I have ever known. The keys are beautifully laid out, in rows with ample room between them, for even the fattest fingers! The screen to be honest could be a bit bigger, but displays a real good quality image. There is a memory card included, 256MB, which may be enough, but its cheap enough to buy a GB, (M2 memory card by the way).
The bodywork has got to be its party piece, the phone is truly gorgeous. The phone is so smooth & rounded, there is literally no rough edges at all. The camera lens is very well integrated, which too, is very smooth! As for the colour, the Truffle Brown is very close to chocolate, but not quite! On the 3 network you also have the choice of another colour, Purple. That colour really stands out, enough said!
That's about it for this phone, which as you can tell, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE.

Love this phone. Haven't had any of the problems others have mentioned, the camera is fine, clear pictures etc.
No problems when texting, I can't fault it, I also got a 2GB memory card free with it from t mobile.
Music player if good.
The phone is a bit slippery but I have got used to that now, haven't dropped it yet!

First of all I must say I love this website & I am using it almost every month to make sure I am up with the latest phones.
Secondly I am a Sony Ericsson fan hence my latest purchase. The Sony Ericsson K770i, which is a delicious looking phone for me, really nice looking & easy to use keys. The specification is a bit basic for some techie type users but for me the features are wicked.
Thirdly the K770i is one of many Sony Ericsson phones I own, I always run two phones at the same time, a kind of popular girl, that's me. I have the Sony Ericsson W880i which good for music but the keys are not as nice as the keys on the K770i.
Lastly I would recommend the K770i to all & thank goodness for the superb website, lots of love Poppy.

I've got this phone in truffle which is really classy & individual looking.
The keys are small & smart but easy to press. Texting is a pleasure compared to my last phone (a Samsung).
The screen is good, very clear & a reasonable size.
Fairly good camera for a mobile but I often forget to slide the lens cover back over & unlike my old phone its harder to take pictures of myself.
Personally I don't find that I switch the camera on when texting so that's not a problem for me.
In fact I have no problems with this phone & it's my favourite so far, simply because its stylish, easy to use & nice to hold. LOVE IT!

I have only had this phone for half a day & I am impressed by it.
The other leading cybershot phones, e.g. K800i, k810i, k850i are bulky or have huge lump on the back.
I like the truffle brown colour.
The input & navigation keys are easy use.
The only downside is that if you get the phone on 3 mobile contract (like yours truly) you do not get the PLAY NOW option but instead you get planet 3.

I've had the phone for a couple of weeks now & really like it. It's the first time I've not had a Nokia since 2000 & it takes a wee bit getting used to but I am getting there. Bit annoyed that can't get it to pair with my Bluetooth speakers though (Gear4 StreetParty Blu). It works with my Motorola headset though (weird). Overall a great phone.

This is a great phone. It has a beautiful shape & an interesting colour. It has excellent battery life, a good keypad & a great camera. Only negative thing is that you have to open the facia to get the memory card out! It is a stable fast Sony Ericsson OS phone with no bugs. If you like the looks go for it & you will not be disappointed! I use it as a second phone as I have a Sony Ericsson P1i as a primary. I could easily just have the k770i as it is that good!

Have had this phone less than 24 hours & I am already being driven mad by the camera kicking in while I am trying to text. It's because the button on the right hand edge of the phone has been moved further down, to right where I (& probably the majority of other people) hold it. Really irritating when the rest of the phone seems pretty good (based on the time I've had it, obviously). Think it may have to go back.

No other manufacturer can compete, for me, with Nokia, for their simple & efficient menu systems. This particular model is smaller & lighter than my previous Nokia 6280, but does not offer the same level of customisation. The colour is a nice chocolate brown, not a yukky brown, the case rather plasticy.
As per Sony Ericsson website the phone does not offer the faster 3G of HSDPA but normal 3G & as someone was asking, xenon is a brighter light that I know of for cars, therefore I assume it is a brighter flash for the phone compared to the led flash light.

Hi, I have only given this phone 50% because I haven't got it. Yet. I really want it but I don't know if the brown is a real truffle colour, or a yukky brown. To anyone who has got the brown phone, please tell me if it's a nice brown. Thank you.

I am a bit confused thought my operator told me that the phone supports Skype & MSN but I have found no evidence of this can someone please help me. Final question is does anyone know where (if there is any) you can download firmware updates for the phone, cheers?

Hi there, well before I purchased my k770i I thought I would read your reviews & see what you thought to make up my mind. The mobile got delivered at 8.15am! From three (which I have been with for years & believe them to be the best, £18 4 18 MONTHS FREE PHONE & 300 MIX MATCH.
anyone thinking of buying this mobile please, please, please don't be put off by the negative reviews. Either they are looking for a super duper video recorder, get real this is obviously a mobile that Sony wanted to offer their customers as a good all rounder.
Having had Nokia's for years this is now my second Sony & I won't be going back to any other phone the build quality, battery life & slim design & weight makes for great phones.
As for the flash that a few have mentioned I had a look at this (& I can assure you I am as technical as a rung out turnip)! & it seems simple to me I just set it to switch to light mode so you get a really intense light when taking photos & I took a pictures in my under stairs cupboard & it came out brilliantly. The video is ample for the size of the phone & the focus works fine just wait a split second it auto focuses & job done.
You have got a lot of fun things to this phone I.E. 4 different tones for the camera shutter. Some people expect a lot from a slim cool phone.
The design is gorgeous & stunning with the purple colour, & silver buttons. Yum so go & buy, get & ENJOY, enjoy, enjoy.

Excellent phone I had the k800i before & the directional stick on that is truly abysmal. After about a month you have to press 5 or 6 times for it to work. This phone is a lot more responsive, sleeker & doesn't have that annoying bulge on the back like the k800i.

Just got this phone on Saturday, it is now Monday, so far so good, this seems to be a great little phone. I use a phone for what a phone should be used for & that is calling & e & it does both of these with great ease.
Camera is OK, but you have to remember this is a phone not a camera!
Buttons are just the right size & menu system is so easy to get used to, I've always been a Nokia man but could not find a Nokia that I liked apart from the 6300, but I have that for my business phone.
So no faults so far, gave it an overnight charge Saturday into Sunday, sorted out all contacts, played about with all settings etc & it still has 65% battery life left, so no complaints about battery life.
The only thing I don't really like is the choice of colours, a bronze or purple, what has happened to good old black. I opted for the bronze.

This is the best phone I have purchased, ever. The Blue LED light when in camera mode is a nice touch. The phone looks amazing & it does everything you need. I have been encouraged by my operator (T Mobile) to extend my contract to 18 months upgrading from an MDA to K770i. I need to use my phone as a modem for my Laptop & would prefer not to have a blackberry. T Mobile has ensured me that the K770i has these capabilities, however on review of the specs & some of the listing on this website there is nothing to indicate this. If the K770i has this function (Connectivity 3G HSDPA) can somebody post a review as the handset is likely to be despatched within the next few days.
Other than that I have seen the phone first hand in a shop. The design of the phone looks smart, there are ample features & as for usability I can't comment.
If this were a game of poker I reckon the K800i or K660i would win every time!

I really like this phone & it is very easy to use the only major concern I have is the fact the paint is coming off the keys on most of the buttons. A manufacturing fault I guess. But want to know if anyone else is having the same problem? Trying to get in touch with Sony Ericsson still awaiting reply.

OK I know this is not a Walkman phone, but I find the media player extremely frustrating. Firstly, it is not possible to browse by album, which is fairly annoying. Secondly, & this is REALLY annoying, it is not possible to browse through the other songs in the playlist, artist chosen without going right back to the beginning & making your way through all the menus again. I have had 2 of their Walkman phones in the past (w800 & w880), & they have both had these possibilities. I find it bizarre that Sony Ericsson have packaged a media player which is functionally inferior to their very first Walkman phone incarnation, was it specified by a totally different team of people who didn't talk to each other?
This is a real shame, as other than this, the phone is pretty much perfect for what I want. The camera is very good, it's fairly slim & it manages to be both unobtrusive & good looking at the same time. To top it off, the battery even has a decent life. Just sort out the media player firmware PLEASE!

I got this phone as an upgrade from T mobile, they sent me an ugly looking brown one. I previously had the W800i & loved it, this is a poor replacement, the camera is supposed to be better but there doesn't seem to be a difference & the video is the worst I have ever seen.
The memory seems smaller than the W800i as well. I had much more songs on my previous phone. T Mobile have given me the worst customer service I have ever had as well, go with anyone except them!
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE, IT IS TERRIBLE!
I can help people with the zoom on the camera though, you need to go to picture size & choose VGA, it will allow you to zoom then. Hope this helps someone!

Yeah I agree it looks good & I was really happy for about 10 minutes. The camera shutter is really slow, but the worst part is the texting. It simply won't let me write a text without the camera flipping over into camera mode which is really annoying when you're trying to bash out a quick text. & now the keys have gone all sticky. I am taking mine back.

This phone is beautiful. Very sleek, okay screen size & buttons reasonably sized but not great for people with big fingers.
HOWEVER, the camera is disappointing. It doesn't seem 3.2MP & the k800i camera is easily a lot better. Maybe because of the LED flash rather than a XENON flash.
I haven't experienced many glitches yet, but have read other reviews where people say it turns itself off a lot & things like that.
So if you want a decent Sony Ericsson for simple calls, texts, a few songs & a brilliant camera, get the k800i!
If you want a sleek, sleek phone to store lots of songs on & occasionally take a slightly grainy photo, get this k770i, but I would say overall, the k800i is better, although they are both great phones.

Don't BUY THIS PHONE.
I bought it twice, because I really liked the features/design etc but it became problematic & I took it back thinking it was faulty, got another with same problems.
Terrible for fast texters, keys stick & jump & you end up texting a load of gibberish & having to go back & delete.
Also it's just started to keep turning itself off.
Have to keep taking battery out to start it up again.
Real shame because the features, look, weight of phone are very cool. Put into practice & its functionality is RUBBISH.
WORD OF ADVICE WHEN TAKING PHONE BACK.
Don't exchange your phone, get a full refund & start again. With 3 network even if you've exchanged faulty phones, after 28 days of buying the first faulty phone you can't exchange another faulty phone if it's outside the 28 days.
So get a brand new transaction with each phone, don't exchange, refund & buy brand new.

I bought the phone on contract 2 months ago the phone is one of the best Sony Ericsson handsets, people moaning about the features are stupid because the only thing the phone is missing is touch screen features.
But these tend to be too complicated or slow so I think it's better without.
The only problem that I found was that the p s etc button sticks when I write a message & I have to press harder but that can happen on most phones after time.

Love the design, love the buttons & love the menu layout.
To those giving out about the camera I have this to say, It's a phone! PHONES you use it to call people & take the occasional picture. If you want a proper camera, buy one!
One thing that does disappoint me a little is my operator 3 in Ireland they completely mis sold me the phone as they stated it supported skype & MSN, none of which function properly on the phone but that's due to application development & not Sony Ericsson.
If you like the way it looks & feels & you're not a snap happy lunatic from hell get it. You won't regret it.

Design OK except for very small keypads, very small text font, & poor colour choices. Features are rather rich, but not good picture quality, sound is great, but need improvement for volume tune.
Usability, as small keypad & small font, not good for middle age.

I bought this phone, originally for my son because the price plans were fantastic on 3 but he ended up with another one, which I am deliriously happy about. I have the purple one & had it for a couple of weeks before I even touched it, I had the Samsung U600 before & although I thought it looked sleek, I wasn't completely happy with it. I eventually got round to looking at the phone & keying in all of my numbers into contacts, I decided very quickly that I liked it & liked it a lot. It's been a couple of weeks now & I am completely smitten, I can safely say that it is the best phone I have ever had. I have had no problems, I think the problem others are having with the camera is because they are not keeping it still long enough. Once you have taken the picture, you have to keep the camera still for a few seconds, it's fantastic.

The camera on this phone is useless. The picture quality is rubbish as all my pictures come out blurred & grainy. If you are getting this phone for the camera do not bother the pictures are terrible, terrible, terrible!

Had this phone for two months now, can't fault the phone. Yes, the camera side of the phone is a bit lousy, but one of the best phones I've had for a long time. Always had Nokia phones, but this one takes the biscuit.

Not much use having a good looking phone, when it switches itself off quite often. It seems it likes tlc! I have to take the battery out, massage it & its ready for the off again. If you need to be in contact with the outside world, this is not the phone for you!

I had a Motorola RAZR V3 before this & technology seems to have moved on so much in the last 18 months. Someone said Skype is not available on this phone, it is, all you need to do is go to the Skype connection & download the latest version works great. Checking your bids on eBay is an excellent plus. Music player is good, radio is a nice addition, I bought a cheap jack adaptor to have my own headset & I use it in the car via a radio transmitter. Camera is pretty good. I think some people expect too much from what is basically a phone that saves you carrying around at least five other items

Those people who are having problems with their camera quality should send it back as it must be a glitch (which they have fixed now as I just got a brand new one from t mobile).
Camera quality is amazing (especially compared to old 2 megapixel Nokia 7373). I was pleasantly surprised by this, but to be honest was not bothered if it was rubbish as do have a 10 megapixel digital camera for taking great photos).
The phone is so light & compact, but texting & using buttons is easy (the keypad looks cool & feels smooth). Games are great (Solitaire mix & Foto quest fishing), graphics are pretty cool too as is the sound quality & video calling feature.
Very stylish & definitely worth a try! Two thumbs up!

This phone is great I got it from 3. The camera is good & the sound quality is also good. I like the buttons all the other cyber shot phones have small ones.
Overall a good phone if you want it, I would recommend it.

I didn't expect to be disappointed, but I am. I thought newer phone equal better phone. I am wrong. It can't keep up with my texting because of the screen resolution (which is beautifully clear though) my text then comes out gibberish, very frustrating!
I am a camera person, rather than music, & looks don't matter much. I liked the brown colour & that along with the 3.2 camera sold it to me. But the camera is rubbish, blurry & not that much better at all than my old 2.0, so basically, I wish I hadn't bothered.
Oh & I keep on dropping it! I swear, it's so slippery due to the brushed metal effect. Now I am mooching around looking for the right Sony phone for me, as I am trying to no go back to Nokia. Any suggestions anyone? Which one I should change it for? Was thinking w850, until I read the reviews, it doesn't even have a flash? & the keys snap. Oh my word, decisions, decisions, maybe I will have a Nokia.

The reason I changed my K800i for this was for the camera & because it is slimmer than the K800i. However, the camera on the K770i phone is just ridiculous! Very slow shutter speed, blurry pictures even with auto focus, & no zoom in camera mode. I am going back for my K800i, might be chunky but it's a good reliable phone. Anyone with a K800i thinking of swapping to this DON'T BOTHER! Shame, as it is a gorgeous looking phone but then again. Looks are not everything.

I think this phone is absolutely rubbish! I have always been with Nokia & will definitely be going back to them! I bought this phone for a change & specifically for the 3.2 megapixel camera & the purple colour! The quality of the pictures are terrible! The video is so bad! It's like old bad quality. Not what you would expect for a top of the range phone! Not a bit impressed.
This is also my third of this phone in a month as the other 2 had faults in them, & this one is going back too because it has just started switching itself off. I would not recommend this phone or the 3 network to anybody.

I got this phone a few weeks ago & overall feeling pleased about it. The phone is sleek & fits nicely into your hands. The size of the buttons are just nice, it is hassle free to text a message & camera quality is awesome!
The video quality, though sad to say is lousier than Nokia phones but I think it applies to all Sony Ericsson phones so we have to make do with it. Totally adore the functions encompassed in the phone, radio, applications & whatnot.
It is worth getting this phone.

I got this phone on contract on 3. After being shown the phone in the shop, I loved the design & the woman in the shop really sold it to us, telling us we could use MSN messenger on it, & about the 3.2 megapixel camera.
When I got the phone home, I was rather disappointed. The camera doesn't zoom & the pictures always come out really blurry & fuzzy. I've also had problems with only receiving half of text messages, & having to wait a few hours of even days to receive the rest of the message. The camera button is also easy to knock while text messaging which can get really annoying.
Also, MSN does not work on this phone, & even though people have been saying to wait a while until it become available, I just don't think it's worth it, as this phone is really quite annoying to use. I am sorry, but I was really disappointed with this phone. It looks great & everyone who's seen me using it has said wow nice phone, the usability of this phone just isn't great.
Why can't they still be producing with W800i anymore?

This Phone is gorgeous. The bevelled edges at the back & sleek pull back lens cover with blue slit light make it quite an eye catcher, at a time when it seems that manufacturers are coming up with increasingly odd looking phones for the sake of something unique, Sony Ericsson have designed a beauty (though this is not clear at all when looking at it in 2D or in a shop where the main focus is on the facia). However, good looks aside, this phone has two massive draw backs.
First, despite being a cyber shot 3.2 mega pixel phone (like the K800i) it is nowhere near as good, the colour is all over the place & the auto focus provides pictures that can be so shaky they are indecipherable.
Second, when texting it is very easy to hit the picture button & kick start the phone into camera mode while typing. This is massively irritating & happens because they have redesigned the small recessed button on the K800i. Now, it could be that I can disable the picture taking button when the lens is closed, but I didn't have to on my old phone & I don't see why they have changed this on the new.
Gorgeous, but not user friendly & really disappointing if you want to take pictures & you are used to the quality of the K800i.

Having previously had a K800i I am very quick to compare the K770i. I got the K770i as my K800i was stolen & I was advised by 3 that this is very similar but better. For me the phone has no major problems & is a great phone (obviously this depends what your previous phone was). I am more into camera phones than Walkman phones & my main gripe with this is the camera & video. Compared to the K800i (this is also cyber shot & features are meant to be similar) the camera quality is poor. I have set my settings to Fine etc. But it is still not as good. I agree with previous reviews that the camera is dark inside but good outside & the video is grainy. It records video in QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) resolution that apparently is ancient but so does the K800i so I can't understand why there is so much difference. Sony's website says that it does have the Best Pic feature but it is called Burst on the K770i & I don't think it's the same. (K800i Best Pic feature is better). It does have the Picture Fix feature but I don't think this is fantastic either as it just seems to brighten it up a bit. It has an LED flash as opposed to the K800i's Xenon flash & this may answer why photo quality is quite dark indoors (even with the flash). My K800i could take a photo in total darkness & the photo would come out like it was the middle of the day! I also don't like the fact that my screen saver goes off & the screen goes blank when not in use. My K800i used to be able to hold the standby screen with my clock on (with the option to use powersave if desired). It's not a major problem but very frustrating when trying to find my phone in the bottom of my bag! MSN Messenger, eBay etc are compatible with this phone (some sites it's not compatible) there is even an icon on the main menu for MSN messenger however it is not available yet! The girl in the 3 shop said it is just because it's a new phone & will be available on it in a few weeks (we'll wait & see).
Overall, I think the phone is great compared to older phones but not compared to K800i. I am sorry I didn't get the K800i again! I am on contract with 3 but as my K800i was stolen & my insurance wasn't with 3 I had to get this on pay as you go & they sent me a new pay monthly sim. Does anyone think I will be able to take this back to get a K800i or will I have to wait till upgrade available on my contract?

I just got this phone today, I went for it mainly because you get such a good contract with it. Only 18 pound a month & 300 minutes or texts + 300 free 3 to 3 minutes. I love the feel of this phone, I couldn't believe how light it was. Very impressed & great games on it for me.

Phone works well despite slightly limited camera. However, battery life is very poor. Standby time is quoted as 400 hours. If you don't make any calls you might just better 100! Not really good enough & this is after trying two phones.

Got the phone as an upgrade from Vodafone about 2 weeks ago & initial impressions were quite good. I liked the idea of a phone with a decent camera so I wouldn't need to carry a camera on days out, however this phone doesn't get near the quality of a modest digital camera. It should be obvious though as the phone is compact & light & you can't squeeze a quart into a pint pot.
Otherwise the phone is fine & has many features other than just talking to people, which my teenage kids are impressed by. I do have one issue which I am not happy with though, the battery life. I may just have a dud phone or battery, but it runs out of juice in 3 to 4 days & I only use very occasionally.

Got this phone today, it is very beautifully designed & feels nice to hold. Picture quality is good, however why did Sony Ericsson make it so that you can't zoom in camera mode only in video mode & why didn't they add a xenon flash? This is a big disappointment & very annoying. Apart from the slimmer design there is no big difference in functions to the K800i so if you like that you'll like this. Screen resolution & colours are vibrant, the sound is good. Overall a very nice phone that gets let down by the camera (which was the reason I bought it in the first place! ). Come on Sony, sort it out!

Having, for the previous year, had a Nokia 6822 which spent more time being away for repair than it did in my pocket & having previously had a Sony Ericsson P800, I decided to get something which will hopefully be a little more reliable, hence the K770i.
I've only had it a few days, but I like it. The camera seems to be OK & the display is pretty good even on my tired old eyes. I was a little disappointed when I tried to upload my old contact list to it from my iMac using iSync though - iSync just wouldn't work with it. Fortunately, after delving into the depths of iSync & with some help from the 'net, I managed to create (bodge? ) a plugin which works with contacts at least for now.
I like the way this 'phone works straight out the box with little or no setting up, unlike previous 'phones I've had which, not being a technophile, ended up with many features unused. Time, of course, will tell about reliability, but so far I've no complaints.

This is a very impressive phone, easy to use & packed full of features. I've not explored or used all of the features yet, hence the less than perfect score. The comparatively low usability rating is dictated only by the poor battery life when used on a 3G network. I have a 'Truffle Brown' model, the blue/violet being a bit garish for my taste. That said, the 'Truffle Brown' might be better marketed as 'Dark Bronze' - a more accurate description, I think, having never seen a brown truffle & it sounds so much better! Definitely a good buy on the 3 network - 300 3 to 3 minutes, 300 voice/text minutes, 30 videophone minutes & free voicemail - all for £18 per month on an 18 month contract.
