Sony Ericsson K750i Review

The Sony Ericsson K750i gives fantastic power imaging & brilliant picture quality. The K750i is a very thin & light mobile phone with a really great built in 2 mega pixel digital camera complete with fitted lens cover. Sony Ericsson are hitting the top end of the market with the K750i & it is available in two colours which are oxidized black or blasted silver.

The TFT colour screen is an excellent quality screen & offers fantastic display results. The many features of the K750i include high quality video recording, RDS FM radio, text messaging (SMS), multimedia message service (MMS), digital music player, polyphonic & MP3 ring tones, memory stick expansion, downloadable games & preloaded games.

The PlayNow™ feature allows the user to download music easily & quickly from the Internet. The MusicDJ™ feature offers the user the freedom to create their personal melodies, which can be great fun & gives a personal feel to the mobile phone.

Sony Ericsson K750i Mobile Phone Back View
Sony Ericsson K750i Mobile Phone Side View

The phone comes complete with image management PC software which assists the user with editing photos, adding effects, creating email & creating a photo album.

The K750i is a simular phone to the Sony Ericsson K600i & Sony Ericsson K608i, but the K750i has a slightly more compact feel to it & the features are of a slightly higher quality.

The Sony Ericsson K750i is defiantly an amasing mobile phone & offers the user so much freedom & fun with many good features that are highly usable.

I've had this phone for 3 years now, & it's still working. I used a Samsung J700 for about 5 months in the middle, but switched back to this when the Samsung annoyed me too much.

I gave it a low mark for design, because it's a chunky phone, & the joystick often plays up (won't let me scroll right or down), & the bit of metal that fits around the keypad has come off. But it's sturdy, goodness knows how many times I've dropped it! It's even survived a bath.

The camera has autofocus (I think) so even though it's only 2MP, it comes out with some decent shots.

Texting on this is great, compared to the Nokia I had before & the Samsung I used in the middle. I use predictive text, & you scroll through the options using the joystick, & the words you use most often appear at the top of the list. You can also add your own words to the dictionary (Nokia wouldn't let me, & Samsung had a limit of 10 or so words).

This is a good basic handset if you don't want anything particularly flashy.

I love this phone. I got it three years ago, on PAYG, & it's lasted me this long with no problems. I've never had problems with the joystick, & I've dropped it so many times it's not funny, but it always worked. Last year I accidentally dropped it down the toilet, & left it there for about five minutes whilst I went to fetch some of my mum's Marigolds to put on. It still worked perfectly, whereas one of my friends dropped theirs down the toilet, fished it out immediately & had to get a new one. I've dropped it off of my balcony, onto the concrete below, & the screen didn't even crack!

It's a very chunky phone, which may or may not be a problem for you. The camera was excellent for 2MP, but the zoom wasn't amazing, & it was far easier to edit photos on the computer than on the actual phone. Also, I couldn't turn the shutter noise off, although friends that had the same phone as me could on their phones.

The message storage isn't amazing, in fact, it would make me delete my inbox after it stored 100 messages (this is including sent messages). It's easy to navigate, & I do love it, but the back (after two years of misuse & abuse) eventually started coming off very easily, until one day it slid off completely, & I lost it.

I taped the back up, & it was okay, but then it started going really downhill. Very slow, would turn itself off (screwing up the time & date) & now it won't take or receive any calls.

It lasted me three years, & I love it so much, I am only going for the next upgrade.

I've had this phone for two years & it's done me okay but now it's starting to break. It's switching off, jamming, the sound is bad on it. It's a shame because it's been a good little phone. I am getting a new phone soon, the LG KS360. Overall Sony Ericsson's are okay phones to have in the short term, until they decide to stop working.

I have had this phone for about a year now & I have to say it is not brilliant (& no I have not dropped it! ). Whilst everyone seems to give it credit for its durability, I feel that the design of the phone is far from good. When I first bought this phone, I was amazed at how small it was. It took a bit of getting used to.

Pros.

- the battery life for this phone is pretty good, I can leave it on all day with only 4% battery remaining (that's without using it). That was one of the main reasons I bought this phone.

- Considering all the features it has, I rather impressed with the lens cover on the back of the phone, as it helps protect the camera lens from any scratches.

- I like all the features this phone has: 2MP camera, MP3, Bluetooth, & particularly the radio.

- When the headphones are plugged in, the sound is amazing! The bass is excellent as you would expect from a phone backed by Sony.

- the torch is also quite handy, especially if you have lost something in a field at 01:00am, which I did :S.

Cons.

- Although my first impressions were very good, I started experiencing a few problems with phone in the fast few weeks. I have never dropped this phone or hit it & for some reason it keeps freezing? I now know this is a common occurrence with this phone thanks to other reviews.

- the software for this phone is absolutely rubbish. Completely useless. I spent hours trying to get it to work but it was not to be. After trying day after day, the computer would no longer recognise the phone & I couldn't do anything with it. I still have pictures on there from Christmas 2007! In the end I gave up & kept the pictures on there.

- Why are the memory cards for this phone so expensive? On play.com they are like £20, when considering a 2GB memory card for the Motorola is only £5!

- the buttons are so small & are hardly comfortable at all. Whenever I am texting I keep pressing the wrong buttons as they are all so close to each other. I tried looking for another Sony Ericsson without these tiny buttons & there weren't any.

- There are hardly any tones for this phone; only 8, all of which are terrible & repetitive.

Overall this phone is below average, the design isn't too good nor is the usability, but the features are pretty good. Unless you see this phone for less than £50 do not buy it.

I have now chosen the Motorola V9 & it is working like a dream.

This phone is great at being a phone. It's got all the things you would want from a phone.

The camera is slight poor. It's extremely tough, I have dropped it an uncountable amount of time but it still works perfectly.

I would recommend this phone to anyone want a strong reliable phone.

This is one of the most reliable phones made EVER, enough said.

I've had this phone for about 2 years, & couldn't fault it bought a Nokia N80 since which I am very disappointed with so I am going back with Sony Ericsson (K850i) more reliable, faster, battery life greater altogether a better phone. Keeping my K750i as a spare just can't get rid of it, it was that good.

A great phone, which does everything a phone should do (text & phone! ) with no problems, but with added extras. The camera is more than acceptable for a phone (if you want superb pictures, then get a camera! ). The battery lasts me for the best part of a week with reasonable usage & the Walkman sounds great once you've adjusted the equaliser to your preference. Why people slate a phone because the camera is not so good, & the screen resolution is on the low side which is beyond me, IT'S A PHONE!

I have had the K750i for over a year & it is a brilliant phone, the camera is good (until when I changed the cover & fascia the camera did not work? ).

The sound quality is good. The phone is virtually indestructible (lives through heavy rain, drops on to concrete from over 1m high! )

The network coverage is great & manages to always have signal. While having the phone I have noticed when the weather is sunny it manages to charge itself which is incredibly useful. The interface is very easy to use.

Recently, I have started to notice keys are just falling off which I have put down to old age, but is quite annoying. I am now buying the k810i as my replacement.

Best phone I've ever had. I've been using it for a good 3 years, & it's only about 4 months ago that I've experienced issues with it. One, the camera doesn't take shots as easily as it used to, it hangs sometimes & whenever I charge it or plug it to the PC it doesn't recognize the connectivity cable as easily as it used to so I have to plug & unplug it a few times. But then these are all considering my k750i is pretty old.

On the plus side, it has served me very well. No problems with it whatsoever during the first 2 years. The music player is still great; the shortcut keys make it very easy to navigate. Very functional & with great features. This phone is highly recommended for those who do not wish to be carrying 1 phone, 1 camera, 1 music player whenever they go out. The k750i is a mobile phone, music phone, flashlight, camera phone, & organizer in one!

Hi guys. Had this phone just over a year, & I am very happy with it. Good screen, great camera, especially the way you can activate it quickly using the slider, & the music player's good, too. Bit quiet, but using the memory card (which is very cheap now) I have over 200 songs on, with space taken up by videos & pictures, & space to spare.

About to buy a k800i, because the joystick has gone dodgy. I like the stick, easy to use, but now sometimes needs a few very hard presses to work. Also, the camera, it won't recognise when the slider's open, rendering the camera useless. After around 14 months, it's a bit disappointing it didn't last longer, but I take it everywhere, playing football, mucking about near where I live etc.

So, this is a good review, recommended, seeing as it's now really cheap. I paid £80. Oh, & the Bluetooth is really fast, & the headphones are great.

This phone IS indestructible!

I mean I dropped it countless times (once into the toilet) & it never breaks. I have had for like 1 year & it is amazing for a cheap, usable, easy & all working phone.

I would say it is perfect for a first time phone as I said before you CANNOT break it.

Also all of the functions work & I am very pleased with it, until last week I dropped it into a swimming pool (do not try, not good results) & it still worked, but I short circuited it when I charged it up as it still had water in it so if you do this do not charge up for a good few days.

Thanks for listening.

Signal capture is not as good as its peers & Nokia sets when you are about 100 ft height. Got problem at connectivity port while charging.

This has been the best phone I have ever used. This phone has everything you need & more; it's fantastic & it's a tank.

I've had this phone since the summer of 2006 & it's the best purchase I have ever made. This phone has everything, including a light. You may ask yourself, that's stupid on a phone, when will I ever use it? It's actually helped me out on more than one occasion. Say you're walking down a dark staircase & the lights don't work or you can't find the switch? You're looking at a map while walking in the dark? It's situations like these that you don't really realize how useful a light would be.

Texting takes two clicks, you move left on the joystick & push down. That's one more than a Nokia, wow. It's not the prettiest phone, but it's not ugly either. Address book is fantastic. You add a birthday under a contact, & it automatically asks you to add it do the calendar, at which point it reminds you of the upcoming birthday, which is amazing for me since I would sadly never remember a birthday. Why can't Nokia's do that? At least my Nokia 6267 can't.

The menus are amazing as well, super intuitive. The camera's not amazing, but if you need an in focus shot then it's good enough. The keys are a bit small, but one can get used to them. I regularly text under my desk or in my coat pocket, just glancing before sending to see if it's correct. Years of practice it seems. In my messages counter I have 5550 sent text messages, 59 sent picture messages, 34.40.56 total call time. You could say I text a lot :) No problems with the keys either.

Music player isn't impressive, but it does what it's supposed to. The phone has fallen out of my jacket several times, the screen has a huge gouge across it, a friend tried to take it apart to clean behind the screen & rounded the screws doing so (dust does get under the screen, but with the right torx (? ) screwdriver it's super easy to open up & clean), so now the phone's halves don't hold together tightly, I've actually thrown it at the wall after being fed up with the irritating tennis game that's included, I've texted in rain with drops splashing over it, it's been everywhere with me. I use it as my alarm. I basically use it all the time for everything, it's my lifeline to the world. This thing is damaged beyond belief, & it still works great, save for the joystick, which has begun to stick a bit recently. It's not terrible you just have to push a bit firmer.

Like I mentioned earlier, I bought a new Nokia 6267 since I wanted to upgrade & everyone shouts how amazing Nokia's are. I don't like them. I am sure they're fantastic phones, but I am used to Sony & can't get used to it. It's the little things. Now I am trying to sell it & buy a new case for my K750.

I suppose if you've been with a brand for a long time, stick with it. If you're used to Nokia's, stick with them, likewise for Sony Ericsson. I don't doubt Nokia's are fantastic phones, but they're just not right for me. I know the menu layout of my phone from memory. I can access the themes menu in about a second (Menu 7 4).

If you're not loyal to one brand, try this phone!

Hey, I've had this phone for 2 years now, & I think it is the best phone I have ever had.

I love the phone but I have had many problems, such as the camera not being able to take photos & the shell of the phone falling apart. Another slight problem is the fact that it decides to turn itself off, but it does not really bother me because I do not use the phone a lot for normal use, only for music & photos.

All in all, the k750i is a legend of all camera phones.

Most of the people used to complain about the joystick, true but not in my case. I am using this phone for more than a year so far I haven't had any problem. When I start listening to the music I can play them for at least 12 hours leaving 30% battery power after that. So far I had taken 2000 photos using this amazing camera. Excellent clarity with auto-focus enabled me printing on A4 size. I am enjoying with the phone. The photo studio in Chennai (Kodak) appreciated the quality of my photographs. Excellent media player with MegaBass & excellent FM radio reception. I love this phone. It was recommended by a friend to me. Now I am recommending to others.

The best phone I ever had, it really fits well in your hand, the battery is just great, the MP3 player function has great sound quality, & it's easy to make several playlist for every possible mood. For those of you who didn't know, it also plays MP4 video files, which has a higher video quality than 3GP. I've used it even to watch entire movies whilst on the bus e.t.c, a full length movie takes about 120 to 140Mb, which is nothing really if you have a 1Gb memory stick. The camera is equally great, one of the best I've seen in a mobile phone, second only to the K810i. Mine's running on 2½ years, not a single problem ever. Plays almost every Java game there is, even with 3D graphics. I can't find a single negative thing about it really, I wish I had bought two of them so I'd have a spare one when this one eventually has to retire.

Oh, one negative thing. It doesn't allow memory sticks larger than 1Gb. It would be nice to use like a 4Gb memory stick with it.

This is the kind of phone Sony should continue making, it's very reliable & takes very reasonable pictures. Mine had a 1GB memory card which was great for countless songs & photos. Finally battered & bruised it so much became embarrassing & got a w610i about a year ago which is also a well priced good all rounder from Sony. However I have just ordered a new k850i which looks great on paper but after reading countless negative reviews am beginning to fear I have made the wrong decision & will once more be firing up my trusty K750i when the k850i touch screen gets a speck of dust on it!

There is a good picture quality with a decent video recorder in good light. The MP3 player is outstanding with an equaliser that can be manually adjusted to give out maximum sound or there are preset ones to choose from. I am now going to buy the k750i again & sell my Nokia.

Well, after 2 & a half years I have had to replace my K750i with another mobile phone (ended up with W910i price & style & function compromise & what's with the new stylish buttons, round, & line like? ) which is sleeker yes, but just not as good, maybe I am just used to the K750?

Yes, my phone has had its moment like rebooting every now & then when you didn't expect it, & the fact that it crashed now & again & you had to take the battery out & turn it back on to get it working, the clock stopped, so you could tell when it had.

But, this was just part of life, & there were so many benefits against these few negatives, a few out of many.

- the automatic recognition of the camera when you opened the shutter even when the phone is locked (there is no shutter on my new one, scared I'll scratch the probably cheaper & less quality lens).

- the fact there is a light you can switch on if you need a torch (drains the battery a bit, but what do you expect), or even have it on flashing SOS if you need it (I never used it but hey it's good to know you have it).

- I never had any problems with the joystick.

- I dropped it so many times, & it still worked for a long time.

- I took all my pictures of the V2005 & V2007 festivals, & they were better than my compact camera, & easier & quicker to use, auto focus was great but you still need to hold the camera fairly steady, like any camera.

The ability to listen to radio or music, maybe no folders available but at least you could just go to the music menu & play & shuffle without having to worry if you want to listen by genre, year, artist, album etc.

All in all I was very happy with my phone, & considered upgrading, but thought no, so I bought myself a nice large 4GB memory card to have lots of songs etc on it & use it more to its full capacity, but 2 hours after doing this, the phone crashed (as it does sometimes), so I took the battery out as usual then couldn't turn it back on, & haven't been able to since even with another charged battery.

So I am torn between the loss of my old lovely, I am used to it, phone, & the new love of the new phone, even though it has a lack of features comparatively, & new ones to learn!

I've had this phone on an 18 month contract as was the k700i that preceded it, both good solid performers. The 750 is a great everyday usable phone that does all you could want from a phone, if you need much more & you should really be reassessing your life. The one gripe is that the silly toggle button in the middle that controls most of the phone wears out within 12 months, as it did on the 700, not much good on an 18 month contract.

Otherwise great.

I had this phone around 18 months ago & it was OK. The after a couple of weeks the problems kicked in. First of all the little round piece next to the slide camera broke off & the phone began to do lots of things that I didn't want it to do. A lot of dust & allsorts managed to get behind the screen & I couldn't get into it to clean it. One morning when I got up I went to grab my uniform & the phone was underneath the uniform & it went plunging into a bucket of bleach. I brought it out after being in the water for around 15 seconds & it seemed to work OK. I played some music & made a call, & when I was speaking the phone began to vibrate & the LCD began to flash & it would not stop. The phone went off & didn't come back on. I came home & it worked. After that I had to buy a new sim pack because the water had got to the terminals on the SIM (LUCKILY IT WASN'T the SIM READER)& ever since, the phone never worked properly & it was vibrating & the backlight kept going out I eventually gave up with it & put it in a cupboard.

I bought the phone as an import when they first came out 2.5 yrs ago. I think the phone is great.

OK, yes I had the joystick repaired within 8 months, under warranty, it came back within 4 days, I couldn't fault the repair company. Since then (& I've had the phone for 2.5 years) I've had no problems with the joystick. Yes, occasionally it turns it's self off, but it's rare.

The camera has decided not to work, so it's back to Kuhne & Nagel for repair. The pictures are good, & I like the ease of just opening the lens & the phone recognises the camera mode straight away.

Overall I am really happy with the phone & I WON'T be changing the phone unless the camera can't be repaired.

By the way I have not had any problems with the joystick it's actually really good with one of the flying games I got with it.

The only real bad thing with it is (being very picking) is the music player has no filling system, but that don't really matter.

Another great thing with it is when your in a call you can put it on speaker phone & play a game & things like that I mean how cool is that!

I have only had this phone for a while now but it is a great phone. I did get it replaced once but that's because I dropped it when I first got it! All these people complaining about a great phone for no reason! If they treated there phone better it would last so much longer!

So many great features, it has everything you need on a phone! Great 2MP camera. Clear sound & graphics, reasonably fast WAP, easy to use buttons, Bluetooth, infra-red, MMS, SMS, I could go on & on & on!

For a phone that's 2 years old! It is still better than many phones coming out to this day. If you want a Top Notch Mobile, get the Sony Ericsson K750i.

Hi, My Sony Ericsson k750i is great accept the battery, it turns itself off at random intervals but, apart from that a great phone great camera but a bit slow, the media player is good too.

The Joystick, now everyone says that its rubbish but if you look after it, it WILL last you a VERY LONG time. I have had this phone for about a year & no problems apart from the battery & the memory you can put in it, but all round a brilliant phone!

Bought a K750i when it first came out & I am so glad it came with a 2 year warrantee. I had 3 replacements & all have broken in some way. The joystick design is useless after a few months & my camera stopped working about 6 months ago.

Also the battery case doesn't stay on & the phone resets when I put in a larger memory card. Also if I try to connect it to a PC, again it crashes then resets. This is expensive, modern technology, why does it always go wrong? (so Sony will make more money when you have to buy a new one).

Unreliability issue - screen has gone very bright & cannot be set at an acceptable viewing intensity. Fault occurred at 14 months. Had this phone for a year, & hope to keep it for at least another year. No problems, no sticking joystick (TIP try cleaning it using a damp cotton bud about once every three months) no freezing, no white screens, battery life is excellent.

Treat this phone right & it could last you a lifetime. Excellent camera, the media player still works as if the phone were new. I've just bought a Nokia 5300 for my wife & I wouldn't swap my 1 year old K750i for it. Fantastic phone.

I've been using this phone for some time & I can say only one thing- I LOVE IT! It has amazing price to features ratio. I really like its classy looks. I have the oxidised black one & I found no problems with the design. In fact I was a bit surprised at its small size (though at 21mm thickness I won't call it slim). The keypad is good, & the joy stick is excellent. Don't know why so many people complain about it. The joy stick is responsive & easy to use (though you have to protect it from dust & humidity at any cost). The short cut keys at the side are quite easy to use. The casing is well built & strong enough to withstand a few drops on the floor. The most outstanding part of the design is the camera lens cover & camera shutter button. The brushed aluminium lens cover looks good & protects the camera as also the back of the camera from scratches. However, one design flaw that I found is the new fast port. I would have liked more if it had separate ports for charging & head phone connector, especially it would have been great if the head phone connector was at the top like in some Motorola phones. & moreover the fast port plug pins are somewhat delicate. As for the display (256k cool), it's very good, its bright, clear, sharp & doesn't fade away in sunlight. But at 176x220 pixels I won't call it small but could be a bit bigger if you like to enjoy videos. As for the menu interface, it's very easy to use & user friendly even if you are new to Sony Ericsson. Now the feature I enjoy most- the media player. Sound quality through the provided headphone is excellent. It's loud & clear. The media player has almost all the necessary features- equaliser (oh yes, it has megabass! ), playlist management, pause, fast forward etc. Music management may not be as user friendly as in Walkman phones, but definitely has all the features including megabass. You can also upgrade to a Walkman headphone. Sound through loud speaker is of pretty good quality, but I think it could be a bit louder & now for its most outstanding feature- the camera. At 2 mega pixels it may not raise too many eye brows nowadays with the market flooded with 2 mp cam phones, but it's the quality of the camera & its user friendliness that makes it special. Just sliding open the lens cover brings the cam to life even if keypad is locked. & yes its auto focus mechanism is amazing. I was surprised to find it in a phone cam. Picture quality is of course excellent. But you must have a steady hand to get clear pictures since I found the cam a bit slow. Battery life is again excellent, it lasts for 3 days with moderate use (though fiddling with its features, especially camera drains battery quickly). One thing missing in this phone is EDGE, not that I miss it very much but some other people may really miss it. Overall I must say its multimedia features are outstanding, especially at the price it comes. It combines the camera of a cyber shot phone & music capabilities of a Walkman phone all in one small pack. That too at an amazing price. Like everything, it is not perfect, but not too far from it either. K750i ROCKS!

Camera is good - images are quite sharp & clear. The volume for ringtones are not bad too. I don't know about the joystick though because I've only had it a few days.

Only negative thing I would say is the design. Not sleek, kind of bulky looking. Not a slim phone. Other than that it's all good.

Hi People. Well I had this phone now for a couple of months. I just wanted to say. Design aspect I look for a slimmer phone. But this phone is good. It's got everything on there. Nothing has started to play up except the cover has been discolouring due to the holiday I been on, I guess the Cyprus heat hasn't done a great deal! I have seen in the past reviews that the batteries aren't good. I would agree with my past experience, Nokia is the best company for mobiles & long lasting batteries. But Sony Ericsson hasn't yet showed any bad signs. Fingers crossed they won't either!

If you're looking for a phone to get through a daily life I would advice this one, got a bit more to it. Maybe a bit complex texting as it as 'predictive texting' but you can turn that off, I would advice for the buyer to be good with phones before getting this one or a newer model. Good luck & hope you have no problems (if you do I can't help).

Always do loads of research before buying a mobile, even if it's an old one. Read loads of reviews & ask people who have them, even if it's someone off the street walking & talking. I guess students these days will give honest opinions about them (I am one myself).Good luck. Take care. Kind Regards!

No probs. Camera is good quality as is everything else.

The only thing I can complain about is the predictive text, which can get very annoying, for example some simple words are not in the memory & you have to enter them manually, then some complex words are not in the memory & it will not flick to the spell screen. Now I just have to find a phone good enough to replace it with!

It's the best phone I've ever used. My mother bought it three years ago, but she couldn't use it, because the phone she had before (a sagem my-V55) was easier in use, so she gave it to me on my birthday & I was using without a problem, when suddenly one day, 18 of July, it fell on the road from my bedroom's window, which was on the 3rd floor & an BMW passed over it. The funny thing in the whole story is that the phone hadn't broke down & only the buttons 2, 3, 5 & 6 weren't on the phone - I've never found those buttons. The other day we left to Wales for our summer holiday. The same afternoon we got to a beach which was near to our hotel to do a bath & I forgot that I left the phone in my pocket, you can understand what happened next, the phone didn't work & I got to a store when we came back in Manchester & I asked him for the same phone, but he would have it in two weeks, so I bought a Nokia 5300 which is good, but not as good the K750i was.

The joystick is starting to go now but apart from that the only noticeable fault is the camera button which you have to press too hard to take a photo, this can make your hand move when the picture is taken resulting in a blurred image.

Overall, I would recommend this phone, it's still better than many new phones today despite being around for years!

I loved this phone when I first got it. Almost 2 years ago. In that time, I've had the stick replaced 3 times, (& it's failing again), the shutter button once, the camera body once, the keypad once & the speaker twice. The screen was scratched the first week.

That's a lot of repairing for any device. The features were exactly what I was looking for & it worked well for the first 2 months. Then the joystick stopped working on one axis then all the others.

Granted, this phone has lived in my pocket since I bought it. It's been dropped a few times & has suffered the normal phone wear & tear. Which I am pretty sure Sony Ericsson knew about when they designed the phone. Unfortunately tested it.

It was a great design but very unreliable. They could have talked me into another Sony Ericsson but the last straw was doing away with the MS pro Duo card slot. With nowhere to put my 4GB card, they've lost me as a customer.

I have had this phone for 2 years. When I first got it I hated it because I had been used to Nokia's but after a couple of weeks I was using it with ease & absolutely loved it. It did not switch off or freeze up like my previous Nokia's had done. The camera function is good although it is a little slow moving between stored pictures.

After owning this phone for 1 year & 11 months (to be exact!) the faults started. Firstly the control stick stopped working at times. Then yesterday I took my phone from my bag to find that the screen has gone white & covering just under half the screen is a big black splash of colour. The glass screen is in tact & there was no trauma to the phone, it just happened for no apparent reason! Now as I said I have had this phone just coming up for 2 years with no problems so for this to occur after 2 years is I guess perhaps not something I can complain too much about!

Cons:
- After 1 year, started to crash for no reason & had to do master reset.
- Joy stick not great.
- One button sticking somewhat after 6 months.

Conclusion: Liked the general style for use, but not convinced about the quality of build on this phone. I took great care of mine & it has had an easy life compared to some & it still had problems despite never being dropped/chucked about/wet etc. It doesn't even have scratch marks on it!

It is that the of the year already, time to end my contract with my one year old Sony Ericsson K750i, well what can I say apart from I will be sad to leave it. I have always thought it was pretty sad that people go on & on about their mobile phones but know I truly understand why, people want reliable, sturdy & good looking phones & the K750i does all of it.

Like I said I never really understood the whole phone boasting thing but I guess I have been luck with my mobile phones as I tend to stick to popular models. My friends talk for hours about their phone & guess what I have found myself doing exactly that for the last 10 months. I have enjoyed owing & chatting about my K750i, it is a very impressive phone which comes with such & cool camera feature. The camera is top quality compared to other phones of this models age (A year old). I am really quite nervous about changing in case my next phone has issues. Look at me typing away about a mobile phone, ha ha ha, but it is a very important piece of equipment & everyone needs to know about these excellent & reliable models. This phone is truly a winner & I have never had a blank screen, call cut off or any issues what so ever with the Sony Ericsson K750i. This phone is easy to use & the whole Sony Ericsson menu system is a joy to use along with the easy to use keys & short cut keys. I tell you, I could rant & rave about this phone for hours, which surprises me in a big way. Better go got to get my next phone ordered. I am thinking about the Sony Ericsson W850i Music Phone or the Sony Ericsson K810i Camera Phone, will stick with Sony Ericsson as they know there stuff & do it well. Thanks for reading & thank for all the comments on this site it is very useful for my next purchase.

Now they are asking me for 155$ to fix it. I am moving to Nokia 6110 with Navigator option.

Had this phone a year this October, joystick wouldn't go up properly sometimes, I simply blew into it & it works perfectly fine. Brilliant phone, it was well worth the 100 pound I paid for it, I recommend this phone 100%. I feel it has everything you could possibly want. The only downside is that my phone memory is 20MB & I save everything onto my memory card (1000MB). Once I get 100 messages it says it can't store any more messages. Other than that this phone is great!

This is by far the best phone I've ever had, or even seen as a matter of fact! Good quality photos (it's not going to replace your digital camera but it's a great stand in if you don't have it with you) & in bright sunlight you can get some fantastic shots. Calls are fine, menus are super easy to use & everything just works! Easily syncs all my calendars & such to my apple Mac & after buying a super cheap 1GB card for it I can use it like an iPod shuffle for random play of my favourite tunes. All Bluetooth devices work perfectly & I have no trouble with the voice recognition unlike other phones.

Had it for over a year & every so often look to see if there's anything new out there worth upgrading to but with the exception of a K800i there really is nothing better. Buy one, it's a bargain!

All round a superb phone, looks great, is packed with features & for the money is top notch, you can get it for around £70 these days & I paid over £100 & I thought it was worth it. The camera quality is excellent & the SD adaptor that comes with it means it's easy to upload you pics onto the PC. Only problem I have had with them is the camera, I have had two of these & the camera shoot/focus button on the side has stopped working with both, which I believe is a common problem, so my advice is to get one with warranty. So if it does break it can be replaced or fixed.

I am planning on buying a 1GB memory stick card for the phone & from other phone reviews I have heard that they get along well. It takes the same memory card as a PSP so you can get all your songs etc off your PSP & on to your phone to send to your mates via Bluetooth.

The Bluetooth is great & it even includes infra-red & synchronization. The 262k screen makes the picture quality on this phone amazing & not only does the camera also have impressive effects for your photos but it also has 4 times digital zoom so you can get close up & I almost forgot it has night camera mode & the special mode for taking pictures of plants & animals etc.

The K750i is the best mobile Sony ever made, believe me, I work in the telecoms market & have tried just about every phone out there. Some phones may beat it in specific areas, but for good all round performance, this is the ONE.

Battery life is fantastic, call quality is excellent, the camera puts some digital cameras to shame & the menu navigation is almost idiot-proof.

The phone is built like a tank as well, I have dropped mine four times, hard, but still works fine. It may look on the chunky side & not be as flashy as the latest models, but it will deliver better performance.

Mine is now 30 months old (yes, two & a half years) & the joystick is still working fine: TIP* You need to clean around it to stop dust & dirt building up which causes all the problems with the joystick that you will read about here!

The looks are okay, but they are obviously not the main priority of the phone & Sony Ericsson as a whole. It is a bit ugly & slightly on the heavy side but that does not bother me.

It has all the must-have features except 3G (2 megapixel camera, video recorder, music player & Bluetooth) & there is nothing you can criticise about any of these features.

It is the easiest phone to use in the world. It is also very reliable as it always does whatever you want it to.

Had this phone for 6 months & generally am very pleased with it but you do have to take care with that joystick. I've always had lower spec joystick Sony Ericsson phones & have yet to break one; hopefully not famous last words.

Only gripes are the shutter delay on the camera & the truly awful video camera, however the latter is common to most mobile phones, only decent one I've seen is the discontinued Panasonic VS6. Can't speak for the new 800 range as haven't tried them.

Still in full working order, joystick no problem, battery lasts forever, been dropped on the floor, thrown at the boyfriend a few times & even survived a trip down the toilet (fell out of my jeans pocket), still works perfect!

The camera is one of the best I've used, even better than my 4MP digital camera! Menu is easy to use, is small & compact, my first Sony Ericsson & I would have another tomorrow. If I had to make a criticism I would say a decent sized memory card is a must as the 64MB you get with the phone is useless.

After many agonising weeks have just gone back to Nokia & have the new 6300. Only had this a few days but it's looking good, Nokia are finally getting back to their best. Will report on this phone when I've had it a bit longer BUT if anyone is thinking of buying the K750i I would say GO FOR IT!

I like good call quality, battery life, & a decent camera on my phones, & this one has provided all that.

I've had the phone 10 months & I haven't had a problem with the joystick.

I find the weird delay thing on the camera simply bizarre. It looks like it has captured the picture you wanted as the image freezes when you take the photo, but then gives you one from about 6 seconds later, & not the one you wanted, which is very frustrating & a shame as the quality is decent.

Never had a problem with calls, I find Sony phones not quite as intuitive to use as some others in terms of layout, but it's OK. My voice activated dialing has never worked.

The battery though, aah, Sony & the battery! I have a Sony NWD-5 Music player, tiny & 40 hour playback. The phone is also great on this, & can be left on standby for over a week, talk time is very useful too. Picks up e-mails so I can read them very well.

Overall I would recommend it, but would like to find a camera which doesn't have the annoying delay as I do use it often.

I've had this phone for 7 months. It's now almost unusable because the inappropriately named 'joy stick' causes nothing but misery.

It is impossible to navigate using the joy stick which only responds to the up direction so texting is out of the question. Phones4U deny there is a problem but clearly there is given the number of similar reviews. Totally frustrating.

Also, why have S.E. Failed to introduce a security keypad pin lock, which Nokia cottoned on to years ago. If a phone is stolen whilst switched on (now what are the chances of that? ) a pin code to unlock the key pad would prevent anyone from using the phone, at least for a while.

This is an excellent, dare I say best all round mobile phone.

After 18 months of high usage, it is still in full working order; the battery lasts for around 5 days, it really does take fantastic photos (for a mobile) & it has virtually every other feature you could want. It has taken a few good drops & has survived a water attack - the k750i is built like a tank.

My only issue lies with the joystick. It has become quite stiff & inaccurate, & in my opinion is a design flaw. It's not so much of a problem now as the keypad is also a shortcut menu & soon enough you will learn where everything is, but is a bit annoying.

I have no reason to upgrade it other than that my minimum term is up. I might get Samsung X820, doesn't it look cool?

Well having read some of the other reviews here it seems to be a common fault of this phone the JOYSTICK!

This was my first Sony Ericsson & it was a great phone with good features notably the camera which is fantastic, producing images that I was able to use in professional documents.

Having used the phone now for over 12 months all I can say is thank god I can get an upgrade. The joystick gave up 6 months into my contract making the phone very hard to use, almost useless. My brother had the same problem with the same phone & I've heard numerous stories relating to the same problem so beware. This resulted in me having to switch back to my reliable Nokia & all I can say is I am not wasting my money on another Sony that does not last 12 months. Nokia for reliability all the way.

Good phone, everything working except I can't get the shutter sound off for my pictures even if it is on silent mode.

Really loud for a phone (Hint: make sure you play your music in media player then go on more > equalizer. & turn the volume up from there! ) there is a little black mark on the lens which is inside & I can't get to it (I just tried).

Another Hint: Make sure you disconnect the phone properly from the PC suite (at the bottom on your window on the taskbar where the time usually is. Look for a little green arrow & disconnect safely)

Altogether good phone. Alarm works unless you charge it up over night then sometimes doesn't work.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! Thankfully this phone will not be sold for too much longer I hope. If Sony are reading this, please make sure a phone works for at last 12 months before making it & selling it! The joystick is the most annoying thing about the phone, second only to it freezing on different screens.

I had mine for 16 months (had an 18 month contract) had to change early as I was ready to throw it at the wall. The only good thing was the battery what a load of power it had. Pity my new phone isn't as strong but I'd rather have a weaker battery than a phone that doesn't do what it is supposed to do (work!).

This phone is super good phone if you not a gadget type of person. Don't get me wrong it has everything but everything is that on step lower than the features on the better phones. Don't know why people are saying the joystick doesn't work because I had it for 7 months & it still worked fine.

Camera-For 2 megapixels its brilliant & will suit most needs for a camera phone but if you need a great camera go for the k800i.

MP3 player, not great. It will play all your tracks but the sound isn't great & to play them outload the maximum sound limit is awfully low on volume.

It has many other good features but if you need the latest gadget it's not up, there with the best. For everyone else it's great!

I had this phone a matter of months & several faults appeared, when the battery dies, trying to connect it to a power supply is IMPOSSIBLE! The buttons are coming off in my hand. It keeps freezing & turning itself off.

The list just goes on & an. I can't wait to get a new phone (I am going back to the good old Nokia, they may not look nice but at least they work!).

The only downside is that after 11 months the cursor stopped working, & needed much force to take any action. But, it lasted a long time with no problems

Great phone, shame about the joystick, which *will* fail at some point, maybe a year down the line, meaning it will need to be fixed (wish I'd done it under warranty) or buying new phone (or hassle of new contract). Features are very good, MP3 player with built in speaker, decent 2 megapixel camera with autofocus & flash, USB connection to PC to upload & download songs, pics etc. But the joystick, I know several people with this phone, & it has broken on all. Shame.

Hi;

The K750i is a great phone! It is a firm model with a really smart design, it looks classier than all the colourful models of phones that are being brought out!

After a bad fall, the LCD screen broke & the software needed updating after it got damaged & it's not cheap to get fixed, round about £50-£60. But the accident was mainly my fault, so don't give the phone bad marks!

The camera is by far one of the best, to be honest, although it is only 2 megapixels & the K800i is somewhat 3 or 3.2 (I can't remember. ) it looks just as good quality. I had the K500i before (or one with a name like that) & when the LCD screen broke, I could still see enough of it to work out the Bluetooth & infrared functions, so I infrared my pictures over & it updated their quality really good, so I've got pictures from all of my phones on the computer!

The PC Suite & USB cable that came with the phone is great for transferring pictures & videos on to your computer.

BUT HOW DO I GET MY MUSIC? PLEASE READ!

I transferred some from Real Player as it came up with the few songs that I had received through Bluetooth on screen. So I transferred my MP3's, only to find when I went to 'Sounds', there was none of the music I put on there. ! If anyone knows how to help me, I'd really appreciate that as PC Suite isn't working on my computer that well anymore!

Anyway, K750i is a FABBY little phone, packed with everything you'd ever want! The joystick gives me grief when I try to go up sometimes, but that's beside the point, its just a little rusty after not being used for a while!

I really really really recommend this phone to people, it's amazing!

This phone is absolutely brilliant value. It's been out for quite a while now, & you can pick one up for as little as £90. It has all the features that you'll ever need, & the battery keeps it going for ages.

The only downside I would point out is that the joystick tends to lack quality, & it's not that long-lasting. Apart from that, it's a very good phone, & I would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive, & feature-full phone.

Sony Ericsson make some of the best & most reliable phones on the market, & the K750i is yet another example of this.

Kudos to Sony Ericsson.

Definitely avoid if you are expecting to be using this phone for more than a year.

This is a brilliant little phone & even though I have moved on several times I still keep it as a camera & back up phone. The beauty of this as a camera is that it is so easy to use. Open the lens cover & you are ready to snap. Less drag & better quality than most other camera phones I have used. This is a very robust little phone with a long battery life. Very clear screen with a range of backgrounds, it is very customisable. The keypad is very smooth & well spaced - ideal for texters, & the text on screen is quite a bold font. The PC suite is very easy to install & use - by far the best I have ever experienced. I have not had any software problems or experienced any problems with this phone at all. The only small criticisms I might make are that for a 'music' phone the sound is very tinny & not the best if you are really into your music. Also the phone memory was used up very quickly on mine, I think they should have added a bit more.

Dear Bex from UK,

I hope I can help you with your texting issue. I have had the Sony Ericsson K750i for approx 6 months & I think you may have a T9 predictive text option selected on your K750i phone.

All you need to do is go to the MESSAGING MENU, select WRITE NEW, select TEXT MESSAGE, then select the MORE option, go down to Dictionary (T9) & press select, set the T9 to OFF.

This should solve your problem, if not please let me know. I hope you enjoy your Sony Ericsson K750i as much as I enjoy mine, really reliable handset.

Bye for NOW

One of the best phone I have ever had (& I had lots of them - from Nokia to Siemens & then to Sony Ericsson). Yes - Nokia has a more user friendly menu, but the quality of features, the scratch proof screen cover ( which Sony took out in the new models like the W850i & K800i) the Media Player, FM radio (Excellent - Sound is brilliant). I just love that phone. I also got the K800 - used it for a few days & put it down - went back to the K750. (See my review about the K800i). It is a shame that Sony went downward from this phone.

My 5th Phone. One of the best mobiles in the market, beating costly ones by its perfect features. Its 2 MP camera can put a stand alone digital camera to shame. Flash is useful, but tones are not reproduced properly with it. Check the messaging features. It's great 'mark several' feature helps in many applications. Didn't find this feature on costly Nokia mobiles. Sync with MS outlook is cool. Couldn't send sms from my laptop to the mobile via Bluetooth. This facility was easy with basic Nokia's.

Overall, a cool phone with good camera & nice MP3 playback! Definitely.

I have to say that despite it having been on the market for 18 months or so it gives the best value for money of any phone I have ever purchase (& please believe me there have been a few). Sony Ericsson certainly know there 'stuff' & I will certainly be staying with them. Trouble is I like a phone to be a phone (not necessarily a camera or MP3 player) & whilst all the added extras are fun, for me, Sony will have to go a long way to improve on the K750i.

I bought it as I needed a camera, an MP3 player & a new mobile phone & this seemed to be a good compromise of all 3. The phone is simply fantastic but I'm probably biased as I use the camera (which is great btw) all the time. One feature that turned out to be unexpectedly useful was the 'light' feature. I need a flashlight often during the course of my work & I've often made do with the phone's light. The menu animations are simply delightful & the ergonomics are right there. Also a great battery- I've never run out of juice unlike my old Nokia. My phone's keypad died around 3 months after I bought it but Sony's service centre fixed it within 2 days. It's been 6 months since then & its working fine. Now the cons: - WMA file support on the media player would've been nice - there's hardly any memory dedicated to text messages. Nokia wins here. - Only 500 entries in the phone book are just not enough. Nokia wins here again. - The charger & the USB cable are flimsy, flimsy, flimsy. - Its not a robust phone. If you tend to drop your phone a lot, don't bother picking this one up. This is the main reason I've rated usability so low.

Beware! If you are unlucky enough for your K750i to go faulty as I'm told a lot do (dreaded screen flashing fault), Sony do not repair them here in the UK. Instead you have to deal with a merry band of people called ACR logistics who are Sony's appointed repair sub contractors in the UK. Long story short here folks, 8 weeks of lost phone, six attempts to fix it, Sony not giving any feedback, O2 my Telco not giving any feedback, I called my local trading standards office who told me to read the riot act to the original vendor & I *finally* I got a new K750i after losing 2 months of use

Will I purchase Sony again NO!!!

Back to Nokia for me when my upgrade is due, which is a pity as it's a fine phone only flawed by the people who can't repair it & Sony who don't seem to understand even the basic ethos of customer care.

Fantastic phone!

Battery: the li-pol battery is fantastic! Lasts me a good few days (with lots of GPRS & MP3 usage). Only thing is even though after 2 hours of charging it says full, I just leave it over night. Seems to do better

Camera: who could ask for more?!?! 2MP AF... great stuff there Sony E!

The thing I love most about it is the way u can minimise applications. I spend a lot of time in one such application, & find it very useful to minimise, send my sms, & then just maximize! Great!

But as said by countless people, THE JOYSTICK!!! Aaaarg... it kills me. I find myself pushing upwards so hard that the sides of the sick are making little blisters in my thumb! But I've also discovered that blowing helps. But careful not to let too much moisture into the phone...

But overall, a fantastic phone...& cheap. Pity bout the joystick.

This is a great phone... in theory. It's main problem for me in the little joystick. I have had this phone for some time & it has produced the same problem as a similar Sony Ericsson I had many year ago. The joystick appears to collect dust & is extremely unreliable. It really lets it down because I think the rest of the phones features & ease of use is great. This is why I had to mark it down so much - poor design led to poor usability.

Phone was great to begin but screen became flickery & difficult to read after about 6 months. Then the joystick started working intermittently & keys 1, 2 & 3 packed in. Eventually got a replacement v630i which is good. My question is.... why do companies buy a phone that is only capable of working for 6 months when the contract is 18 months....?

Phone packed with features.....only drawback you need the headphone in to listen to radio & you can not lock the phone when phone is on...other than the normal...press # & menu...so files can be seen by everybody if they wanted. Big drawback for me this....& can be used if lost if power is still on...

Excellent phone... A MP3 player, I upgraded to a 2GB memory card, & it has a never ending space for songs & photos. The camera quality & clarity is excellent. Just spend a while to understand the features for camera in the booklet for the phone.

It is a very good buy at the price. Let's see how it scores once it gets older. Cheers...

Phone went wrong within five months. First had problems using Bluetooth then the phone went completely dead, did software update to get it back to life. The back light then stayed on all the time flattening the battery. Sent off to Sony Ericsson & they say it's beyond economical repair due to liquid ingress. Phone not been near water & well looked after, hence I am not very happy as Sony Ericsson say it's not covered by their warranty.

I have had the Sony Ericsson K750i for about a month now & I got a great deal on it with Virgin. I have got the phone in red edition which I think is a new limited edition colour & it is truly gorgeous. The handset is easy to hold & very easy to input text. I have found the battery is lasting me days on end & I am very impressed with every aspect of the Sony Ericsson K750i Red. The menu system is colourful & the icons are very easy to understand & follow. I have created my own wallpaper & screen savers which are of my gorgeous children, ahhhh. I have accessed this web site & many more from my mobile Internet browser which is amazing & good fun. The camera feature is easy to use & the protective lens cover is an excellent idea by Sony Ericsson. This is the first phone I have had with a mega pixel camera with auto focus & it's beautifully & precise. I love picture mms messaging & I am sending messages like crazy, really easy to create & send with the step by step prompts. I have not been playing with the music features much but the sound quality is crystal clear & I will be using the feature more in the near future. I would highly recommended the Sony Ericsson K750i to other potential users as it is highly reliable, all the features work to the highest quality & it has the most users friendly features I have ever used. Take my word for it this is a great buy & an excellent phone.

This phone was good for about 6 months.

Then I started getting glitches with it. The joystick, for example. It broke, & I had extreme trouble navigating my way around the phone. Obviously Sony Ericsson have realised this, & now put keypads on their new phones.

The battery cover was also a hard to get off- I've never had such trouble with one.

However, this phone is jam-packed with features. The music player is of excellent quality, the standard storage that Sony Ericsson give you is good, & the camera has taken me some amazing pictures on occasions- but don't use it at night!

Best design I've seen on a phone, too. I love the look.

It's been superseded by the Walkman & newer K models now, but it's still got it.

A very good phone, just pray to God your joystick doesn't break.

I bet you are all wondering why I put 50% for usability. Here's why, the phone is feature packed & the design is ideal but my new phone went faulty after 2 months so Vodafone in their big company wisdom decided that they are now going to send out reconditioned exchange phones instead of new ones, it's the 'new' policy apparently. The recon phone arrived & lasted 5 days before going faulty again, another recon phone arrived 2 days later & lasted... 90seconds before developing a fault! I had a fit on the phone to Vodafone & eventually a nice girl in the accounts department made an executive decision to give me a brand new K610i which arrived today (happier now, hope its still working in a week!). It's a very nice phone, & works! It's that damned joystick key that causes all the problems with the k750 & if you look at all the newer phones coming out they are changing the design. I've just had a bad experience with the K750 & will never have another again.

This phone is feature packed indeed! Top of the line 2 MP camera for its generation with AUTO FOCUS at that. Expandable memory, & the 512 mb & 1gb stick duo pro is cheap indeed - so very conducive expandability!

Sound quality is not that stellar but when you use the headphones - bang, bang, bang! Mega-bass kicks in, & no other phone will match it.

Keypad, though, is a bit smallish indeed....texting can be quite a task if you're really not used to a cramped keypad. Also, the joystick technology used here is fine until you accumulate dust & some other stuff into the joystick assembly, & you'll have a hard time using it. Add to this, SE could do well to assign a button which directly takes you into idle mode. The back button tends to take you through a lot of screens before getting back to idle. But this feature, I guess, is not SE's priority in its menu designing.

But over-all, this phone really rocks - 1.5 years after initial release, & people still want it. Other manufacturers have gone the 2MP way of cameras as well, but none will ever match auto-focus mechanism of the sony.

I would even prefer this phone over the walkman series that came after it - the w800 & w810i. The k750 practically has the same features as those 2, except for a more customizable media player.

Got this phone here in Manila for about GBP 120, whole box & all, & it was European version (Swedish if not German). I flashed the phone's firmware to the latest release available & the phone rocks even more! I really can't find any big thing to turn me off about this phone.

Sony Ericsson was very successful in luring me away from the nokia way.

I don't know if anyone will read this because this phone is a bit old but it is awesome. Who needs an ipod if you have this. Who needs a camera if you have this. My only qualm is that it is not quad band & t-mobile sucks here so I had to get cingular & can't use it. I doubt the nokia 6270 will stand up to it but we will see. later.

Packed full of goodies it's true. However I find the keypad very small to use when text messaging, this was my biggest fear before purchasing but I thought it would be a minor irritation, in fact it has turned out to be the one things I dislike very much. The keypad is very fiddly indeed & my fingers are not fat!

Radio packed up after a few months & now I have problems with the earpiece getting some sort of feedback when I get a call. Compared to my more basic Sony Ericsson Z600 the K750i it is poor build quality. Want to go back to a flip phone with a decent key pad.

The K750i is an expensive toy for me, but worth every penny. I could rattle on about so many positive points of this phone, it really is a dream. I was wracking my brain to give a bit of negative feed back to all you readers out there & to be honest the only thing is the lack of Edge for high speed data, the rest is so impressive. If you can pay the extra this phone is well worth it.

How thin can SE make these little beauties. SE K750i is so compact & packed to the brim with amazing features. MP3 music player has outstanding sound, as good as any individual MP3 player I have heard. Camera is easy to use & I love editing my stuff before I send it out to all & sundry. Costly little blighter but so so so worth it. By the way had a Panasonic last time & had heaps of problem, so don't touch them.
