Cheap, sturdy & a Sony phone, I would & will recommend to friends. I would like something a little more flash, maybe a touch screen Smartphone, but this serves all my needs perfectly. A good purchase by me :).

I bought this phone 18 months ago & have had no problems at all.

The camera gives excellent pictures in daylight, but could be better when using the flash at night.

The MP3 player is as good as one might expect from Sony, which means it is very good indeed. Add an 8GB memory card & you can take all or most of your music collection with you.

General navigation around the phone's features is easy & instinctive.

One minor issue, which may have as much to do with the Orange network, was with the Internet browser. Pages would take ages to load & would often overload the phones memory, forcing the phone to reboot. I installed Opera Mini 4.2 & suddenly the phone became a pleasure to browse the Internet with.

All in all, I have been extremely happy with this phone, to the extent that I haven't even contemplated replacing it with a newer 'all singing, all dancing' model.

Great phone all together, lasted me a year only due to the charging panel, gives clear fine pictures & is very easy to use, I found it very hard wearing without breaking after high drops & bangs, the speaker is loud & crisp too, I would advise to get this phone its fantastic! & great value.

I am using the phone for a long time now. The only problem I always face is the display problem. The phone is so sensitive that once dropped, the display of the phone becomes completely blank. I cannot use the phone at all. The worst case is that other phones become OK if software is updated but this phone doesn't. Looks & features are good but this problem makes me go psyche. I don't advice people to buy this phone :(.

This phone is bad to be honest. I had major problems where it stopped charging when connecting to the charger & I had to get it fixed. Now some of the keys have stopped working.

Sometimes turns itself off & freezes & a few little faults happen sometimes. Wouldn't recommend it : (.

Cracking little phone worth the money I paid for it. Camera takes excellent pictures. The keypad is excellent & makes texting easy. Call quality & reception very good. Loads of themes available so can customise easily. Battery lasts a long time. Set several different alarms with is okay. Calendar not that great just basic but okay for what I need.

For the price I paid for this phone I expected a lot more for my money. In the first instance the buttons began to stick or were none responsive for no apparent reason (so annoying when busy & had to wait ten minutes before finishing a text). The sound is good but screen very unreliable & the picture quality not as advertised. Very bad product.

I brought this phone back in 2007. It worked perfectly for me for the first few weeks & than the buttons stopped working. One minute they would work next minute I couldn't do anything. This got to me when I was texting. Apart from that this phone is great. The camera quality was brilliant & it really light so you won't even know your carrying it. One thing that got to me was that after a year the battery wouldn't charge up anymore. So thast another bad point.

The design is good as well as slimmer than N-Series or Sony Ericsson k720i & difference between the memory card & phone exists not in k750i & a main fault in this is when it is in standby its screen is completely off not a word can be seen. Otherwise phone is best.

This is a great little phone & presents tremendous value for money. The keys might put you off at first but once you get used to them it's easy to text. Mind you, if you've got big fingers I'd say approach with caution! The speaker isn't the best & sometimes people sound a bit muffled. Camera takes good shots for a 2 megapixel & it has an LED light which can double as a torch.

I love the way it fits in my pocket so easily, you wouldn't even know it was there. It's of a sturdy build but does creak a bit from the battery cover.

But all in all, for the money you won't do much better. Recommended.

I've had this phone for less than a year & I've had nothing but problems with it! I personally wouldn't recommend it, & trying to find a new one to replace it.

Within weeks I had to change it as there was something wrong with the speaker. I could hear people talking, but they couldn't hear me. I find the number keys are too small & fiddly for texting, & the silver paint on the keys has flaked off making it look scruffy.

The biggest problems I have with it though are the sticking keys, meaning I can't use the 9 or # key for texting. I've had this problem repaired once but after a few weeks it was doing it again, I've given up on getting it repaired & spending days without a phone, can't wait to get rid of this & get a new one! I've also noticed that if I am talking for a long time, the phone gets really hot & sometimes it cuts dead even when there is nothing wrong with the battery.

This phone has put me off Sony Ericsson's!

Hi well I've had this phone for over a year & it's still working, I'd recommend it!

Some things I haven't seen written here are.

- The mirror bit on the back of mine has peeled off eventually, but that's nothing to worry about unless you're vain.

- Buttons I find are even easier than normal phone buttons to use because there's a more definite place to press, which I like, it makes texting easier.

I did find after a while some of the buttons stopped working, but I hit it a few times & it hasn't bothered me since. Strange I know but it worked! Problems just my bad luck though.

One REALLY annoying thing I found was on Orange when I first got it there was this menu system that comes up that shows messages, calls, etc which you might think is useful, but it slows the phone down SO much in my experience, I advise you turn it off in the options immediately. You can still do everything else normally.

I have this phone for a year now. I have never experienced any of the silver peeling problems as people mentioned yet again I try not to drop it. The camera is what you would expect of 2 MP, the music player is great & I use it rather than a MP3 player. The only problem I ever had was that when the phone was ringing due to incoming call it gave me option as busy instead of the usual answer. It happened about two or three times, don't know why but maybe I pressed something I shouldn't have done.

I have had this phone for nearly a year now. My first impressions were that it was a excellent, stylish new phone. Disappointingly, after a while it got scratched a lot everywhere. The silver coating around the screen flakes of really easily. When I even drop it by mistake, it shows a large scratch on the phone cover. I even bought a silicon case to protect it, but it still wears & tears away. The camera is not very good. Its 2 megapixel camera is very poor & damages easily. Recently when I took it out shopping, I was horrified when a pixel damage crack appeared on my screen. This is due to the fact of poor manufacturing of Sony Ericsson. Overall on the good side, this phone is a value of money for great basic functions (i.e. listening to my music on the go.) For readers now I don't really recommend this phone due to its easy wear & tear. I would go for the Sony Ericsson C902 if I were you.

Hey, well overall I think this is a pretty good phone.

I bought in summer 2007 & it's still in quite good nick. The screen does scratch easily but you just have got to be careful.

I have had a few problems with it, but nothing major. Like sometimes the keys don't work & you have to wait for a few days for them to work. Or sometimes if you press really hard it works.

If you have quite big fingers I don't recommend this phone because the number keys are small & thin, & would be hard to type.

Overall it's a rather good phone. I would recommend it.

I bought this phone for £60 back in February 2008 I think that it is a bargain for what you get, brilliant quality 2 megapixel camera, lots of features for the type of phone it is, the standard Sony Ericsson MP3 player, photo, video & music DJ. Excellent sound quality just maybe not as loud as I would like (but you've got to give & take). The phones design is very good it has nice silver number buttons & a 5 way navigation key, also the numbers light up in blue, the camera is also protected by a slide cover. So if you're looking for a brilliant phone at a dirt cheap priced then this is for you.

Pro.

I immediately fell in love with this phone! Wow! Cyber shot quality camera, nice keypad & build, thin, lightweight, feature packed, autofocus, superb quality sound, nice display, fast connection, Etc.

Con. Major DOWNER!

- the silver coat of the FLAKES OFF! The LED lights pollutes the pictures taken by the camera lens. It creates hazy cloud on the camera viewer! Sony DESIGN ENGINEERS TAKE NOT OF THIS! I am very disappointed. Been a Sony Ericsson fan for many years now : (.

-Another downer is the keypad. The right soft key of my unit stopped responding. As time goes on the whole left side & the Internet key at the left followed! What a shock! K550i buyers beware! Hey Sony guys fix the problem.

Hey this is Very Pretty Nice Phone! Nice Features & Nice Camera.

CAMERA.
Camera Pictures So cool Day Light Crystal Clear. But in Night Mode is not very Clear. But if you use full Brightness, flash & in White Balance Options, this makes little good in Night Shot. & Second problem in this camera there is No Zoom in Normal Mode, this Feature only in VGA Mode. But you can Edit your Pictures in Photo Editor in your camera.

SOUND.
About the Sound very Nice. Not so high but not so low. If you hear MP3 or Radio music by Head Phones. Man that is really awesome.

Other STUFF.
Nice fast Web Browser. You can access your browser in Landscape mode. You can use Flash Light as a Torch, One Nice Feature is Video Ringtone. It's very good in this phone with Nice looks.

Hey One Thing you don't know that if you connected your Phone with your PC. The phone automatically charging from your PC while Accessing your File.

I am going to buy this phone because of the reviews, stated here. At first I liked W610i. But after reading the reviews of W610i I changed my mind to K550i.

I like to use my phone as a camera phone rather than a Walkman phone. That's why I have chosen K series. Of course it belongs to Sony Ericsson. Just don't think to use Nokia or LG or Samsung phones. Those phones from huge technical problems. Usability may be better but nothing come besides Sony Ericsson in technical specifications as well as in design. Most of all in Sound.

I hoping that I shall not be disappointed after buying this phone.

The K550i is a really good choice for a mid range phone. It packs in features that you only find in much more expensive phones. It's small & compact so fits in your back pocket easily, so much so that you can forget it's there! I originally wanted the plum colour but the black version looks really classy.

The radio is crystal clear, & the music player is good. For best results insert an M2 memory card, quite cheap if you shop around. 1GB allows plenty of space to store games, songs, pictures etc.

The keys are quite fiddly but you get used to them, so far haven't had any problems with any of the keys sticking. Maybe not such a good choice if you have big fingers though. The interface is simple & easy to use like all Sony Ericsson's. Its pain that you can't use the zoom function in normal mode, what were they thinking of? the camera is quite good in bright lighting conditions but the flash is really not up to much.

Not many ringtones, but these are easily downloadable or you can set your own music as the ringtone.

All in all a good buy, I would certainly recommend it.

I had one of these for 8 months, great little phone with good standby & call time. Excellent camera & the radio works quite well too.

Had no real issues with this phone apart from having to clean it out every few weeks due to the amount of sawdust that managed to get inside the unit (in my pocket at work all day).

Don't spend too much on this one but if you can get it for less than £40 on PAYG or a great deal on pay monthly it's worth it.

Had this phone now for just over 5 months & I have to admit it is one of the best phones I have had. The features on it are great & I love the camera, for a 2MP camera it is immense, however as other reviews have noted, it is not the best for night time photographs.

The buttons on this phone, although stylish, are not very practical for a heavy texter like myself. I found them quite fiddly & often hard to press as they are quite solid, they also sometimes were slow to respond, meaning in me having to slow down texting.

The only other flaw I can think of with this phone is the Internet browser button on the left hand side, if in your pocket it is quite easily pressed, resulting in a lot of money wasted. However this problem can be quite easily solved by using the phones automatic key lock feature, one which I have recently found myself depending on so I am not wasting all my money.

One major problem I encountered with the phone was that the external speaker broke within a matter of days, this didn't prove too much of a problem but it was a minor annoyance as it wasn't possible to play any sort of sound out loud, meaning ring tones & message alerts could not be heard. I am not sure if this is a common fault or a one off, but I'd heavily recommend this phone to anybody who wants a good quality camera in a stylish phone. I absolutely love it!

It worked beautifully for two weeks then nothing but trouble. Only recognises the hands-free if it feels like it & recharging is sometimes possible but most of the time it just won't recognise the charger. (Tried another charger but no difference) Even if it does start to charge it usually stops after a few minutes. I've wasted so much money on this phone bought a 2GB memory card & a Walkman hands-free. I bought the phone from Virgin Mobile & they couldn't be less helpful if they tried. I'll probably end up binning the phone & getting something that actually works.

I have Sony Ericsson K550i & my rating is 9 out of 10.

Camera.
The K550i Camera really is not good at night! (Remember the model Cyber shot brand Sony Ericsson is bad at night. Huhh). But amazing clarity picture at daylight, which beat all 2MP camera. The brand & model is also bad because there is no zooming in normal mode. Huhhhh! At night I take picture by using the option Twilight portrait & set brightness to 2.0. Then I got nice picture. As compared to night picture taken by k750i. It is a dull picture.

Sound.
Really better sound also in loudspeaker & headset. Music player has an option stereo widening. It's Superb!

Style.
K550i is stylish in all respect. Its style is better than any other model. Slim also.

Music & Video.
Almost all popular music & video format can be read by k550i. Eg:MP3, 3GP, mp4, m4a, wav, WMA, avi, wmv, real media, amr, midi. Etc Thanks Sony Ericsson for that.

Java.
It is a fully Java enabled handset. It has full support to java. Don't worry for anything. Can run 5 or 6 applications at a time.

Screen & Keypad.
It has got 176 x 220 screen & its keypad is good sticky keys (some people don't like this keypad.)

Connectivity.
GPRS, Bluetooth, Ired, USB, EDGE all in one touch. Web surfing is easy & simple.

Other features.
FR radio, Music Player, Video Player, Track ID (recording FM radio then send to Internet then receive via GPRS) & Voice recording.

This phones great I love it.
- the sound is good.
- the camera is good.
- When sending images through Bluetooth it is so clear.
- I personally like the ringtones.
- It's got a little protective thing for the camera.

I hate this phone because.
- When holding the phone it may creak, but you get use to it & love the phone anyway.
- Its locked on virgin & I paid $110 extra to get credit which they said if I did I would get it unlocked & there is still a problem ever since March. Meaning it's been over one month. & I still am using my old phone. & have to bring two phones every day. One bulky one & this one.

But apart from that problem (which I think is quite annoying) the phones the best phone I had although its only my second phone in my whole entire life since I am only in year nine.

Hope you found my comment useful x.

I bought this ahead of Nokia 6233 for its cute look & supremacy on its features. Keypad is tiny & nice for girls. Not good for those with big fingers, & those using keypad most of the time because it really pains the finger. Other than these small hiccups, in general this phone is very good & worth to buy for its rich features.

Truly excellent mobile phone! I have one since January 2008 & man it beat's the Nokia 6300 by miles in every area except the display, Nokia has 2 million versus 256K colours of Sony Ericsson K550i.

Other & versus features.

- the best 2MP camera with Autofocus currently available in the market.

- Good music player, descent sound, FM radio with RDS.

- Lightning fast response time.

- the best battery in its category (Li Poly, 950mAh) 24 hours of nonstop music at full volume in a full battery charge phew!

- the OS (software) is built on Java platform, so limitless compatibility.

- Small, thin & light, I sometimes forget it's in my pocket.

- Connectivity wise offers not only Bluetooth but also infra-red port which is helpful to communicate with older mobile phones for data transfer.

- No need to install driver CD's, just connect to the computer with the USB cable that comes with it & transfer music, videos, pictures etc to the phone & visa versa.

- Lastly, it does very well for what it is primarily built for, excellent reception during calls, loud & clear.

Deep technical details.

- Sony Ericsson K550i has (Thin Film Diode) TFD screen instead of TFT. TFD consumes less power than TFT so better battery life.

- It uses Sony's patented M2 memory card rather than miniSD cards. Both are of nearly same size but M2 cards have much higher data transfer speed so the phone has faster response to user input.

- It uses Lithium Polymer ion battery rather than Lithium ion, Li Poly is a superior technology (better safety, thinner) & will ultimately replace Lithium ion in near future.

- K550i comes with Bluetooth supporting A2DP, a very important feature for music fans as it allows STEREO Bluetooth transmission to Bluetooth headsets.

Verdict, get this mobile (Sony Ericsson K550i) if you can (pun intended), but those looking for similar features at an even tighter budget look for Samsung J210 as it has all the features of this phone but pricewise comes 20% cheaper.

This phone is amazing. I have had it for a couple of months now & it hasn't taken a foot wrong. It looks fantastic, all the features work perfectly & it is quite easy to use. The camera is great but it seems very unclear when it is dull. The MP3 player is great as well, the speakers are decent & are very loud.

The main two downfalls of this phone is the memory cards (M2). They cost way too much. The other downfall is the battery life. I have to charge it at least twice a day. Apart from those two things it is a brilliant phone.

The buttons take a bit of getting use to though, especially if you have big fingers.

If you're thinking of getting one go ahead! I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a roughly 80 quid on a phone.

Great phone. My previous model (for maybe 1 to 1/2 years) was a K750i, which I really used to the fullest; that was a terrific model. In relation to the K750i,
I feel that the K550i is a modest improvement. Briefly.

POSITIVES (improvements! )
- Display (Super! ).
- UI speed & ease of navigation.
- Built in apps, improved & updated.
- Built in email, IMAP4 client improved. Specifically, SMTP auth, using TLS, SSL, & in & out port numbers (similar to K750i, but has updated certificates! ), better message rendering, Push Email, Font Size adjustment (small point & pitch) in messages, Copy & Paste function in email messages.
- Built in RSS reader.
- Updated & enhanced File Manager.
- Size & weight of handset (slight improvement, especially thinner than K750i).
- Battery time (capacity).
- FOTA (Update Service) is enhanced, easy to access.
- Built in web browser (NetFront) is greatly enhanced.
- I also use this phone as a GPRS Modem (Internet access), & it seems to operate a bit more quickly on connect or disconnect, & GPRS throughput slightly better, as compared against my K750i.

NOT SO POSITIVES.
- Camera sensor, tendency to motion blur. Video resolution not terrific.
- User defined Shortcuts, work great as before BUT, I can no longer define a Shortcut to my Applications folder (that worked in the K750i, now I can only go so far as File Manager, when creating a new Shortcut).
- IMAP client still cannot understand (subscribe) to custom folders (but I know that would be a huge upgrade to the email client, perhaps not so realistic).
- Voice calls sound a bit muffled through the earpiece, less high-side tone than with my K750i.
- Hard to get a good signal, in fringe areas (a bit impaired as compared against my K750i).
- Aside from some font size adjustment now possible in the built-in email client, there does not seem to be any way to reduce the UI font size in any other respect.

My provider is T Mobile USA. Thanks Larry.

This phone is really good! I've only had Nokia's before the K550i, but Sony Ericsson phones are much better value for money. The 2 mega pixel camera is great 4 taking photo's on the move, the FM radio with RDS & the music player is really good quality. Sony Ericsson phones take a bit of getting used to if you're not used to them, but they turn out to be much easier to use than general other brands. This phone is so slim it fits into my pocket very easily, & I forget it's there until it rings! It vibrates very silently but I can still here it, perfect for discreetness. On the downside, the case gets really dusty & I can't take it apart to clean it, & the case creaks when you hold it & annoys me! This is indeed a good phone having lots of features for reasonable price. MP3 Audio quality is really good, but the 2MP camera is slightly disappointment. It takes good pictures in the day light but under faint ambiance it offers slightly bad quality picture, still it is worth to buy mobile in all aspects.

I have had this phone since August last year & I love it so much! It has a great camera, great memory & great music player. This phone has never let me down! I did have some trouble with the 4, 6 & 0 keys when texting but since reading up about it I now see it is a design fault & if you hold the phone so you don't put any pressure on the camera key on the side it works perfectly. I have had no other problems with this phone, I recommend it for taking photos, playing music & using it every day as a full working phone.

Hi. Just brought this phone yesterday, & it's great to look at, already uploaded all my music etc on to it & the sound quality & the radio are great. The camera is also very good & all in all its pretty easy to use & adjust to. I was a bit worried as I have only ever had Nokia phones before, but this is pretty simple. The only problem I have is with text messaging! I can send photo messages etc, but it doesn't even give me an option to send an sms, currently wanting for Orange or Sony Ericsson to get back to me about this, because surely I should be able to text from it. Confused.!

Joystick, LOL. I bought this phone to get away from the joystick on other models, & it's proving to be a good move. Great phone!

The camera is fantastic the light is a great bonus, it was so easy to transfer music from my PC, much easier than my MP3 player even. The sound is great, the graphics are crystal clear & the menu is a joy to use. I have always been a Motorola user mainly because of the texting so I was worried about getting used to this but it was pretty easy to adjust to, better than Nokia. Games are easy to download & the fact that it makes & receives phone calls is a bonus!

I just wanted to write in to try clear up a fault that people say they are having with this phone. I have my k550i for about 6 months now & like a lot of people I was almost bringing it back to the shop within a week of getting it because the number keys 4 & 6 didn't seem to work especially when I was trying to text. After trying different things I discovered it wasn't the phones fault but mine by the way I was holding the phone in my hand as I was texting. The camera button for the k550i is on the side of the phone & for whatever reason if there is any pressure placed on that button the number keys 4 & 6 stop working when your trying to text, okay some people might say that's a fault with the phone design maybe it is but once I found out what was causing the number keys to stop working I just held the phone a different way & 6 months later the phone is still going strong & the numbers keys have never given me any problems since. I know someone is probably going to say that Sony should have fixed this fault before it left the production line, but I wouldn't let this put you off getting this phone like I said I have my k550i for 6 months now & have had no problems with it at all, it's a reliable phone that hasn't let me down yet maybe I am a bit biased in my opinion because all my phones to date have been Sony Ericsson, & while there were some software issues with their older models, they couldn't have got it any more right with this phone ( & no I don't work for Sony Ericsson ). It's got my vote. Hope I helped with those number key issues.

This is the best phone I have ever had! I chose this over the Walkman version of it the W610i & it's just as good! It actually has at least 74MB of memory! I know because I added a 1GB memory card & it now says 74MB free phone memory! It has an excellent camera, with the Best shot feature, great music player (It's just as good as my friends W610i, A Walkman phone no less) It has fast Internet, the Flash is great for walking home in the dark & adds great effect to night time photos, nice large font, I love the keypad. You can't fault it really. If you don't like the keypad (As some people don't) then buy a different phone. If you don't like the phones keypad then don't buy it! Try the W810i which is built for bigger hands, or the S500i! Try the best shot feature. If you want to use the phone as an MP3 then invest in a memory card. Walkman speakers (Yes they can be used with it!) as this increases not only the amount of music you can store but the sound quality as well. One last tip! For some reason a lot of reviews don't review all of its features (Like the 74MB of memory or the Playnow & TrackID) If you want to know how the phone is really like in music player terms then read reviews for the W610i! THEY are exactly the same! This handset might as well be a Walkman phone because the only thing it doesn't have is the Megabass feature! Oh & yes I have tested it against a Walkman phone! Overall if you want a great camera, music player, Internet & host of other features this is the phone for you! Don't buy the W610i, this is much better & is cheaper!

When I first got this phone, I really hated it. It just didn't work properly. I've since figured out what causes most of the problems. Firstly the Software, Reloading it or making sure that you have the latest version, sorts out a lot of problems, with the keys especially numbers 4 & 6. Make sure that you're not pressing the camera button while trying to type a message. The button's in a stupid place & is very sensitive, but by holding your phone differently, it kind of sorts out that problem.

I am still annoyed that you can't zoom in when using the 2M camera setting, can't see the point in that. The camera's not as great as I thought it would be. The battery life is really bad & so is the sound. I struggle to hear people & most of the time they can't hear me & it's got nothing to do with the volume settings or reception. It also makes a plasticy cracking sound when I handle it because of the cover not fitting tightly & there's nothing I can do about that.

In general it's just a badly designed phone. Don't bother.

I upgraded to this phone in April, I wanted a phone with a really good camera & I compared this phone other Ericsson phones, I decided to get this one, I had 14 days to return it, if it had a fault. Within the 14 days it was fine everything worked, the camera wasn't bad either. After the honeymoon period my phone started acting up, I tried to send a text & all of a sudden key 4 wasn't working, you had to press it hard just to get it work & since then it's been downhill from there, now keys 4 & 2 won't work when you want it to. When writing a text if I want to use a letter other than P on key 7 I have to press it hundred times before I get to another letter because P keeps showing up so I eventually get something that looks like this ppppppps, seriously annoying.

When my phone is locked, to unlock you press * then the button above the cancel (C) button, but when I press *, unlock shows for a split second then disappears & it does it a least 5 times before it stays on the screen long enough for you to press unlock, for cyber shot camera it's not that impressive, it's good to use in a lit area but wouldn't recommend it for use in a nightclub (even with the light on camera on) pictures sometimes come out fuzzy.

Apart from that everything else is fine, but I can't wait for my contract to be up so I can upgrade.

This is the most horrible phone out! I used to have the K750i which I loved. It got stolen, so I wanted something similar. I find it impossible to type a message as most of the time the keys on the left & right hand side won't work & I end up taking forever to send an SMS - phoning will be quicker! Pressing softly or really hard doesn't make a difference. Either way, they just won't work!

The battery life is also non-existent. I don't make a lot of phone calls, yet it only lasts for about 2 days compared to the 5-6 days of my old phone. 7 hours talk time? I don't think so.

Do yourself a favour & don't buy this phone.

This phone is excellent apart from the fact when texting the button '4' works intermittently. Sometimes it works & sometimes not & when it does not if you press another button then back it then does. It always seems to do it at the wrong time. This is my second phone as I took the other one back with exactly the same problems.

It's obviously is a software bug, but Sony Ericsson are not prepared to admit a problem. I emailed them & they said there are no known problems & no future plans of new firmware to be released.

It has one more small problem that I can tell you. When talking on the phone the speaker you listen to is a bit tinny & rattly. It's not the best.

If it did not have these problems, I would say it's definitely the best phone in its price range. The camera is OK, but that's all. It is very user friendly & a great interface.

Similar functionality - 2m pixel camera, capability to add m2 memory stick, great display but within a week I was sick of it. It didn't live up to the promise. Finding addresses & using the predictive text is a nightmare. It is impossible to use due to the fact the buttons 4 & 6 work intermittently. The 0 button also pressing several times don't work. Had this phone for 2 weeks now. What a pleasure! I've reached the stage where I've come to hate things that slide open, flip open, that uses touch-pads to dial, & generally grew so big because of add-ons that we're back in the brick-sized era. I've borrowed a K750i for a month, which, despite missing a few alarm & calendar features I required, made me an instant Sony-Ericsson fan. The K550i answers all my needs for email, Internet, appointments & quick-photo while on the go.

LOL I just read all the reviews (yes I have a lot of time) & I laughed at those that flamed this phone. Some just say they don't like the phone without giving any reasons. Which make me feel that they are jealous because their friends have such a good phone & they don't?

While some say that it only competes with their opponents in the price but not the features. Well this I laughed at the most cause I want you to try putting 8 movies (set to phone screen size so as not to waste memory), 136 (slightly compressed) songs, 35 games downloaded, 8 applications (which comprise of 1 English dictionary, 1 Chinese dictionary, 1 world map/clock, 1 file protector, face warp, hp print, photo mate & 1 unit converter, plus a whole lot of pictures & videos of holidays, campfires & friends in any other phone (not PDA & anything that isn't a phone) & see how that phone dies, or take a freaking long time to load. Oh & they made a mistake up there. The max is 2gig not 1 gig.

Plus Nokia cannot play all the games Sony can while Sony can. Nokia cannot send game. OK why talk just about Nokia. OK of all phones, which phone can do all thing things I have mentioned about? None =)

Anyway if you have problems with the sticking, by the way I don't even know what it means because it has never happened to me. I read from another review that it will not happen as long as you don't press the buttons very hard. Don't know whether it works or not but just give it a try it might work. I advise all tech savvy people to buy this phone because it can do many things you would want a phone to do. Example: it can tell you the name, artist & album of most songs that is being played. But the only problems I find with this phone are that it isn't a joystick phone & the keypads are small.
Well can't be helped in the joystick part because my old Sony k750i's joystick broke so I didn't want that to happen again so I got another phone without a joy stick. & for the key pad problem, it took m a while to get used to it but I am fine now. Just that I sometimes press the wrong key (opps LOL). I typed this while waiting for my tuition teacher. Even I am amazed =).

PS: if you find another phone THAT IS NOT Sony Ericsson. That can do what is mentioned above, please do not be fooled as it is much more expensive.

Oh & my English is good but my spelling is rubbish so please disregard all spelling mistakes. Minus those short forms like LOL & please. Thanks & bye hopefully my efforts didn't go to waste & someone will actually read the whole thing =).

I picked this one up as an almost free upgrade offer, best looking & with the best features compared to a large number of similarly priced phones of all brands on offer at a local network vendor. Even if bought, it's a reasonably priced phone.

It looks simple & stylish which works for me, nothing much wrong with it, but the keys are a bit more on the style side, too small to use for heavy texting, prone to mistakes cause of their size. Please, companies, don't choose style over functionality, nail-thick buttons just make no practical sense, for any use whatsoever. They just wanted to make it look different to its predecessor.

Features & menus are great & easy to use, intuitive, but it's a phone begging to be used online, there is almost no menu without some option to upgrade/download something from the Internet & if you give in, it would mean a lot more expenses, just a bit too much for someone just needing a calling/texting phone. But if you got the cash & like this short of things, it's fun. Mobile Internet is impossibly priced in this country anyway.

Camera is a welcome feature, intuitive too, but as said before, it won't be replacing your digital camera or becoming your main means of photography, just not good enough when it comes to indoors/darker situations, but nice nevertheless.

Playing music sounds reasonably well on the headphones, nice music player, but the actual phone speaker sounds tinny & cheap. All in all a good phone, now, if only Sony could make a good gaming console too, what a lovely world this would be :P.

The keypad while texting stick's (generally 4 + 6) & it's annoying, sometimes it doesn't happen but it often does, & drive's me mental I am having to take it back again today as to get another replacement for another k550i, maybe I have just been unlucky but if this new one is the same I will scream.

I've had the K750i for a long time, until um, an incident resulting in a broken screen. I wanted a phone similar, but different so I settled for this & wow. It has everything the K750i has but more. The little things, like being able to preview videos before you play them, the much improved media player, high-resolution like the FaceWarp, MusicTracker & the Video Ringtone just for fun! One small gripe is the buttons are a tad on the small side, but it's not been an actual problem.

I tell you what, why couldn't Sony Ericsson of added features like the ability to carry on typing your message when you press the back key in the first place? the amount of times I had pressed the 'back' key while typing out a message & have to type it all out again.

In conclusion, it's the K750i, but somehow subtracting 200 makes it better.

Good, but I have a doubt on the picture quality. If we take a photograph in the room why do the colours not coming right.

Because it automatically changes the colours to make it looks better. If you would like to change it to make it not do that change the setting while using the camera.

I went to the dealer who checked it & advised me to get the set replaced through Sony Service Centre. I deposited the set with them on April 14, 2007. They say it will take at least 15 days to replace the set. It seems that Sony is not getting the pre inspection of the sets. I earlier used T610 & K700, they were really good sets. Now it seems that the quality has gone down as compared to earlier sets. Even on request the service centre refused to give a standby set until I get the replacement. That a common customer, who purchases so costly mobile phone feels harassment instead of enjoying the new product.

Hi, I bought this Sony Cybershot K550i, a few days back for Rs 11, 000. I thought posting the price is important because I faced that problem when I was making up my mind to buy that one as there was no info about the price available.

Now, talking about the phone, well I am using Sony Ericsson for the first time. I used Nokia earlier, but I am impressed. The sound quality is great. FM is superb with the normal headsets. The picture quality is up to the mark but a li'l hazy when using it in darkness.

Overall, it's a lovely phone. Specially the design & the metal keys. A good combination of camera quality as well as sound. But yes the battery back up is a li'l disappointing if you are a heavy user but it's perfect for normal use.

Overall I will rate it as Exceeding Expectations but not Outstanding.

I have had this phone for about 1 week, & so far I am very satisfied with it. The phone feels great in my hand, & although the buttons are quite small, they are not all that difficult to manoeuvre with. This phone has all the functions I need, & they work great. The only complaint I have about this phone is the camera light. It is not a flash, rather, it just adds some light. The quality of the picture is good only when under good lighting conditions. I have taken a few pictures indoor & at night, & honestly, there is a lot of room for improvement. However, if you already have a digital camera & want to use this phone only sporadically, you will be very happy with the other features.

I've had the phone one day, & for a teenager I am very pleased with it, the camera is great as it is a cybershot one, & I would definitely it's so cheaper!

I have only had this phone a few hours, however I think it is fantastic. I am 33, not all that interested in ringtones etc. I just wanted a phone that lets me sms & call friends, family & colleagues.

The camera is adequate for spur of the moment use, but if you want a decent picture, buy a decent camera & not a phone.

My only real criticism so far is that the backlight only stays on for around 30 seconds before the screen blacks out, there is no option in the menu to increase or decrease the time the backlight stays on. This can be a bit frustrating when you need more time to read an sms for example.

Other than that, as a big guy I was worried that the buttons would be too small/close together, however I do not find them a problem. In fact, the phone feels very comfortable to hold & has the feel of quality about it.

There are more options than I would use, but as the phone came free with a contract, I picked it because it looked the best out of the choice I had, which was about 50 other new mobiles.

If you are just your average mobile user like me, then I definitely recommend this phone to you.

(Not had the phone long enough to judge battery life).

I am looking forward for this phone. It's not yet available here in the Philippines though. When it does this is what I plan to replace my K510i with, but have no idea about its price here. If it's in a good price I'd definitely get one.
