The best mobile to buy guys, according to my research it's the best mobile with no complaint.

- Battery, 3 days normal usage when used by older people, students 2 days.
- I used to watch movies the whole movie (3 hrs) with 50% battery & it still has the charge.
- Nothing happens when falls down. Believe me it has fallen down more than 100 times. Still working fine.
- Speed is good no hanging.
- Net is good. Good download speed.
- Good camera.

Buy it guys :).

I bought this amazing phone on 4th August 2008. That means, this phone has been with me more than one & a half years. Used more than 1000 hours on calls, & its camera is simply superb. Today, on 21st January 2010, I sent back the W995 for its low quality camera, it flaunts an 8 megapixel camera though. K530's 2 megapixel photos look much better unless you zoom it. K530 has fallen down many times, but it's amazingly good. & the battery life too is very good. The only difficulty is with its tiny keypad if you type the messages. Now I am looking for another K530 in the world of Satio's & 12 megapixels (actually I wanted to go for C905, but it has many complaints, people say. I don't want to risk that much money for another experience. Have had enough of it with W995).

Well I have read most of the reviews for this phone & most of them never did their homework, they are whinging about this is wrong & that is wrong, why don't they find out the phones specifications before buying the thing. & if they are unhappy then they can write a proper review. This phone does everything it says on the can, & if the flip falls off have a look on eBay & you can buy anything for this phone for a very good price, you can't say that for other phones. Sony Ericsson is one of the best phones on the market & this phone is no exception.

OK it's the week before Christmas last year & I am wandering up & down Henry St, in Dublin considering buying a new mobile phone for myself as a Christmas Pressie. I decide to pop into the 3 shop because I am also considering mobile broadband too. The shop Rep strolls over to me, smiling Hi, Can I help you?

I am looking for DECENT phone, I tell him. I am also interested in mobile broadband Pay as you go but I decide to keep this on the QT for the time being.

Did you have a particular model or make in mind? He says.
No, says I, the first phone he showed me I instantly FELL IN LOVE WITH!

The Sony Ericsson K530i has a 2 mp camera, no flash is needed really because night mode is always an option. A Huge Screen with one of the best resolutions I have ever seen on a phone comes as standard, also an MP3 player, FM radio, Music DJ (a fantastic feature which will give hours of endless fun sitting on a train or just when you feel like playing round with it) flight mode is also featured so you can use non transmittal features such as the calendar & the games on a plane. MSN & SKYPE come FREE on the 3 network so you can chat with your friends for hours to your heart's content & it won't cost you a Cent! As well as music DJ comes Video DJ & Photo DJ as standard. The phone has 2 cameras. 1 on the front as well as the standard 1 on the back for taking Pictures so you don't have to turn the phone round when video calling. The Micro SD card slot is a little finicky to open, I am constantly worrying that I am going to break the cover of it off & Stereo speakers would have been a nice feature as well instead of the speaker being on the back of the phone in my opinion it would have been better off with the same setup as the Nokia 6234. (I.e. Stereo speakers, 1 on each side of the phone.) There is also a curious little round rubber thing with a little hole in it over & to the left of the camera lens that has me puzzled as to its function.

Now some concerns that I have are.
- the phone keeps switching itself off overnight which is curious?
- I downloaded Tedtis costing 9 euro on the 3 network & the phone seems to have lost the game. When I say it's lost it, I mean that when I go to open the application it says I need to rent or buy it when I have already paid nearly a tenner for it. 3 have no record of me downloading it & basically have called me a liar saying that the game only costs 4.50 anyway not 9 quid. But I know what I paid for it! Anyway it's GONE!

I think somehow it's become corrupt which along with the phone switching itself off, would point to the fact that Sony have still got some niggling problems with the Bios for their phones. Come on Sony, get it together please.

Overall, I am very, very happy with the phone. I ended up buying the K530i & a USB Modem Package costing 100 euro & could not find fault with what I got for the money I spent on the day.

Well done Sony Ericsson & 3, a great combo, great phone full of all the features you would expect in a 3G enabled mobile phone. FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY!

Garry Canning.

Excellent phone & especially the 3G feature. In fact I bought it to access the Internet via Broadband SIM.

No major problems so far, only the data cable disconnects by itself, rarely that is It. Rest of the features are fine.

Highly Recommended.

It is my forth Sony Ericsson phone & I found that this model is the best model in Sony Ericsson, according to its price, its features & its usability.

First talk about its design, design of k530i is too much sleek with great look as you saw, colour is amazing means too sleek as before models.

Features of k530i are very good as compared to w550i & w700i & w810i. Internet speed is very fast as compared to my old Sony Ericsson models. Video calling feature is very good. Sound quality is very good, one thing which is more important is picture taken from it are very fine as compared to w700i & video quality is very much increased as compared to my old Sony Ericsson models, software of k530i is very fast as compared to my old Sony Ericsson models.

When I talk about its usability, I found difficulty in using its keypad because it is very tiny but keypad is sleek. After using it more than 2 weeks now I'm feeling ease in using it.

One thing which I found in this model is that the battery backup is very high as compared to w700i, w550i & w810i because I have seen full James Bond new movie on k530i & it used only 23% of its battery of full. It's amazing.

I suggest to all of you if you want a good phone with all features & also with low price then buy k5301i. Believe me it's amazing phone.

I bought this K530i, I am really satisfied with the features from this light & slim phones.

With a great range Java Software can be downloaded on 1GB M2 Memory Stick support it's very amazing. You can chat with Yamee! , Mig33, Install Yahoo Go! , Google Map, read books with Mobile PDF Reader or Mtext Reader, Play a wide range of Java Games, Browsing with Opera Mini, & many more.

The only one missing is Camera Flash!

But overall it's better than N-Series!

Great buy!

I am loving the radio, the software is good (quick), it's got anything one needs! After several horrible phones, I am very very happy with this one. & it was cheap (£50).

One (minor) downsides is the battery life is not good (one to two days), the keyboard is not too user friendly & lastly the T9 predictive text is different to other phones, which is taking me a while to get used to. But these are minor issues, all in all I am very happy!

I am not satisfied with this phone. I will go for Nokia. & also I suggest to others, go for Nokia.

I brought this phone only 1 week back & I am really satisfied with it.

Great features & great number of features, who is going to use all these things.

But I would like to mention that I found the sound output to be little low, it could have been little higher, while travelling in trains sometimes I feel if it could have higher output it would have been better.

As I was using Sony Ericsson earlier too I found it very user friendly.

But All in ALL Good Value for Money.

HI I am using this phone since last 11 months. Primarily it looks good but going into the deep, I think company should work on some.

Camera is good than other 2.0 mp cameras. But the problem is you can't pre zoom the picture (before taking the picture) but there is post zoom facility which is not good for the picture resolution, it discards the resolution.

Internet is quiet slow because of absence of EDGE.

Speaker sound is crystal clear. But the thing is it would have been better in volume because volume seems to be bit slower than k550i.

I bought this phone around 3 weeks ago. I am telling guys this is a great phone. Earlier I used to use a N-Series) but I learned that its battery was not so good. So I purchased this model. Now I can say I took a good choice.

The 2MP camera is superb. But at night it doesn't give very nice picture, but manageable. Sound quality still it rocks.

I was just worried about the battery but I am telling you it has got a superb battery. I saw the full movie ROCK ON in this phone. Yet only 38% of battery was gone. So definitely it's a brilliant phone.

This phone rocks! It complete in features & it's an affordable 3G phone. What makes it great is it has 3D games capability comparable to a play station one game just like its older brother that I also have (Sony Ericsson K700i). A 2MP camera is also a good addition. All other features like stereo Bluetooth, 3G capability, MP3s, videos etc makes it as a complete phone for me. You have to buy a micro M2 stick for expandable memory but it will makes sense for you to store all files (pictures, games, videos, applications, MP3s). The downside is the battery cover so you have to be more careful in sliding it out. But overall this is a great mobile phone.

I got a Nokia 6500 slide from 3 as my contract phone but unfortunately dropped it in the dog bowl & the camera doesn't work (everything else does) I bought this model for £49.99 because I figured that would be cheaper than getting the Nokia repaired & find it to be much easier to use than the Nokia, it has awesome sound & the camera is ace.

It's great & better than my Nokia which I have kept as a spare. I'd recommend this to anybody. Especially at the price 3 charge as a PAYG phone. Great phone.

The K530i is a more classic looking handset that won't be as expensive as the K850i or W960i, but comes with a decent feature set nevertheless. It packs 3G connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, an FM radio & an expandable Memory Stick Micro slot. Another noteworthy feature is a pre installed weather forecast application that gives you lets you see today's weather conditions & a three day forecast. It's not the most striking handset of them all, but I still like what I see.

Don't have any doubt about the camera, initially when I purchased it I had a notion that the camera wouldn't be that great but I must say that was a misconception.

The camera is marvellous in the daylight, I can bet its way better than digital cameras which are 3.0 MP.

May be it wouldn't be that effective in night as it hasn't got a flash. But I am ready to compare its quality & the colours captured by k530i camera with any 7MP Sony digital camera.

As far as sound is concerned it has got an echo & very clear sound not like Nokia phones which are quite loud but not that clear.

I wish Sony should have given a flash with this

Regards Ayush Johri.

Hell yeah. I do agree with everything everyone just said, it's a cool phone. Sleek looks. Great features. Great price.

About the cons. It doesn't have a flash & you can't zoom in the 2MP mode. But you could zoom the snaps you just took. & guess what, the zoom quality is just amazing. Well I never, it simply rocks.

As someone just said, I too have problems removing the back cover. Actually I have never been able to remove it so far.

Camera & sound quality so cool. GPRS works great.

So what you waiting for, it's definitely worth a buy.

Everyone in my household has tried but has had the same problem. Based upon this experience & feedback in the reviews, I would say Sony flopped in regards to design of the cover.

Hi I got this phone in November 2007. For a mid range phone its really good & solid, a bit surprised there was no flash with it the 2MP camera, which is adequate (if you want decent photos buy a camera). I dropped it in a bucket of water & dropped it off my desk onto the floor, despite this the only problem was the volume of the ringtone would not go for very high.

I left it in a taxi on Saturday after a night out & lost it, so am looking for a replacement on 3 as I am only half way through my contract. I have looked at Sony Ericsson w660i, k660i £99 & £109 respectively from 3. Surprise surprise Sony Ericsson K530i £70. If you look at the reviews they are all much of a muchness so will go for another k530i no problems :-).

Software on phone is good & 3G web browsing is also good.

Main problem with this model is the battery & phone casing. Have had 3 replacements provided by Orange since December 2007, each time the phone & battery casing is good on day 1, then deteriorates with normal use.

I would recommend the phone to anyone that does not use the phone on a daily basis, as it looks good. If you are a regular user of the phone avoid it as the casing is not up to the job. I am awaiting delivery of phone number 4 from Orange this week. Hopefully they get the message & provide an alternative replacement.

I received my K530i this morning fresh from Orange & the second that I switched it on, it felt like a burst of fresh air from Sony Ericsson. From its pure sounding ringtones to the fun MusicDJ application where you can mix your own tunes, this fun little number had me hooked. I have read on here about the loose battery cover; but it seems my one has not got this problem (maybe its earlier ones). Its 262k screen & the sharpness of colour is a plus with everything that you could possibly need. There's no infra-red obsolete & a USB connector so you can personalise it to your heart is content.

Overall I believe I have found my phone that will stay with me for the next year or so (until my contract is up for renewal) & I would recommend this handset to anyone who wants a phone that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Before you put the battery in. When the battery is in it feels very solid, like part of the phone's body.

The reason I put 95% for design is because from certain angles, the brown bit on the back makes the phone look like a toy, & I put 95% for Usability because the phone lacks a joystick, which is a feature I like quite a lot.

Hi all! I bought the black & copper/gold one. So far I have bought & used 3 Sony Ericsson mobile phones including this one. For me this is the best compared to the other two. I love the size, it's not too thin or too thick, the weight is just nice, the buttons are okay & of right sizes, the display is brilliant, all the functions are very user friendly & usable, & the speaker sound is loud & clear.

I share the same grouses to the loose battery cover. That really put me off, but I do my own minor modification anyway & now it feels very solid & tougher! What I did was I fold a piece of paper very thinly, cut to the size of the battery, & put it in between the battery & the SIM card area & voila! I got a more solid battery cover. But WARNING, this might affect your warranty or something, I don't know & you will find it harder to re open the battery cover & I don't want to be held responsible for any damages or complications but for me it works all right. If you want to try this method just do it carefully.

All things aside, I think this is one great phone & honestly for the money spent it worth more than that. Thank you.

Pros:

Good value for money.
Clear bright display.
USB / BT connectivity.
Possibility of GPS add on.
Browser with certificate handling.
Push Email.
3G (2100)
Video recording.

Cons:

Some battery covers are flexing. Seems someone didn't do their homework at Sony Ericsson!

PC suite bundled software only works on XP/Vista, not W2K, though you could try MyPhoneExplorer (freeware) instead. ;-)

Although there is no M2 memory supplied, you can at least decide how much you want, up to 2GB. If you're looking for better camera spec's maybe the K810i would be more suitable although with the money you would save buying this phone you could buy a standalone digital camera with even better quality. All depends on what you want, basically you get what you pay for & in that respect you get quite a lot for your money with the K530i.

I thought that my unit was defective so I went back to the store to replace it but sad to say the problem of the battery cover making noise is still there. Help please can this be fixed?

This is a follow up to previous review where I highlighted a problem with the battery cover. Note: that I have now exchange the handset & the annoying noise is no more. But I have to say that I still feel the battery cover does not feel very solid but my initial problem has been solved. A good phone, at least for me so far despite initial problem.

Just started using this phone replacing an LG K800 Chocolate.
Overall features & usability are good but miss the touch of the LG Chocolate. It is a slick looking phone (warm silver version).

I choose this phone because of Sony's reputation & for the talk & standby time capability but cannot truly give feedback as it is too early. I have a problem with the battery cover though as it does not feel solid & makes noises when holding phone in hand whilst keying numbers etc. & I confirm I have not selected 'sound' for keys. I will return this particular phone & hope the replacement will not have this annoying defect. So great looking phone but may have a problem with the battery cover. More feedback to come.

NOTE that the screen specification in the review is wrong. The correct resolution is 176 x 220.

Editors Comment: Thank you Calle, the screen resolution specification have now been amended.

I think the design is OK & the features are OK but I think the usability is low because the phone is not common.

The K530i is a more classic-looking handset that won't be as expensive as the K850i or W960i, but comes with a decent feature set nevertheless. It packs 3G connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, an FM radio & an expandable Memory Stick Micro slot. Another noteworthy feature is a pre-installed weather forecast application that gives you lets you see today's weather conditions & a three-day forecast. It's not the most striking handset of them all, but I still like what I see.
