Hi. I have this model for one week. Before this model I had the v640i. I think that k530i is better than v640i. The size of video is too small from v640i. This is the only disadvantage.

I've had my phone for a few months, & it was brilliant until I needed a replacement. I needed to remove my SIM & battery, but the cover would simply not budge. Everyone in my household has tried but has had the same problem. Based upon this experience & feedback in the reviews, I would say Sony flopped in regards to design of the cover.

I am actually still struggling to get my SIM & battery out of my current handset, so I can receive my replacement handset, so if anyone has had the same problem, please let me know if you managed to solve the problem!?

Hi I got this phone in November 2007. For a mid range phone its really good & solid, a bit surprised there was no flash with it the 2MP camera, which is adequate (if you want decent photos buy a camera). I dropped it in a bucket of water & dropped it off my desk onto the floor, despite this the only problem was the volume of the ringtone would not go for very high.

I left it in a taxi on Saturday after a night out & lost it, so am looking for a replacement on 3 as I am only half way through my contract. I have looked at Sony Ericsson w660i, k660i £99 & £109 respectively from 3. Surprise surprise Sony Ericsson K530i £70. If you look at the reviews they are all much of a muchness so will go for another k530i no problems :-).

Got this phone on the 3 network & am very pleased with it. I have had none of the problems with the battery cover that some have had, I think the look of the phone is very nice. One problem, the buttons are small & very stiff so I find texting a bit of a chore. The camera quality is excellent & browsing the web is a doddle.

All in all, a good phone.

This is an excellent all round handset. I have it on the 3 network in the UK & one of the best features is the inclusion of MSN messenger & Skype clients.

I've not had any issues with the battery cover, so maybe they've now resolved that issue.

Sound quality in calls (both normal voice & Skype voice) is excellent & I'd recommend it to anyone.

Software on phone is good & 3G web browsing is also good.

Main problem with this model is the battery & phone casing. Have had 3 replacements provided by Orange since December 2007, each time the phone & battery casing is good on day 1, then deteriorates with normal use.

I would recommend the phone to anyone that does not use the phone on a daily basis, as it looks good. If you are a regular user of the phone avoid it as the casing is not up to the job. I am awaiting delivery of phone number 4 from Orange this week. Hopefully they get the message & provide an alternative replacement.

I bought this phone 3 weeks ago until now it's my second Sony Ericsson. Buttons are too small & poor design, my thumb doesn't fit. I am always think that I've push the wrong letter. Battery cover sound like crash when typing & the screen is very clear I have compared with w830i & Nokia n70. I am using opera mini (gprs) n its very fast n cheap compare to dial connection in my place, because I am writing review using this phone (opera mini application), my thumbs signs to me to take a break.

I received my K530i this morning fresh from Orange & the second that I switched it on, it felt like a burst of fresh air from Sony Ericsson. From its pure sounding ringtones to the fun MusicDJ application where you can mix your own tunes, this fun little number had me hooked. I have read on here about the loose battery cover; but it seems my one has not got this problem (maybe its earlier ones). Its 262k screen & the sharpness of colour is a plus with everything that you could possibly need. There's no infra-red obsolete & a USB connector so you can personalise it to your heart is content.

Overall I believe I have found my phone that will stay with me for the next year or so (until my contract is up for renewal) & I would recommend this handset to anyone who wants a phone that does exactly what it says on the tin.

This phone is great. It has all the features you'd expect from the iPhone (except the touchscreen) in a much much smaller package. I bought it just yesterday with a 2GB M2 card, & was very impressed with the price :D Also, I really like the battery cover. A lot of people complain that it feels soft, & that's because it does. Before you put the battery in. When the battery is in it feels very solid, like part of the phone's body.

The reason I put 95% for design is because from certain angles, the brown bit on the back makes the phone look like a toy, & I put 95% for Usability because the phone lacks a joystick, which is a feature I like quite a lot.

Also I have a question. The zoom works only in video mode for me in photo mode I can not zoom. Is something wrong with my k530i or what? Thanks for the information.

The Internet speed & other features are really great, seeing that this is a rather light & slim 3G phone that manages to pack a lot into it. It looks quite sleek & I got the warm silver, gold & copper keypad version with a full black battery cover.

So far I have no problems with the battery cover but the PC Suite has many bugs. It doesn't on one of my computers but does for the other. If it doesn't work for you, use 3rd party software. The only thing is that I wish it had more in built memory or came with a M2 memory card. It's also sad that somehow my Internet isn't activated by the service provider so I am missing a lot of its perks.

I took this phone on 10th Nov, actually I had planned to buy the k550i, when I went to the show room the dealer told me that new Sony model has been released. I saw this phone, though the look is not that attractive, features are good & camera clarity is excellent & sound clarity is pretty OK. So I thought of buying it. I think it's a good value for money phone.

Hi All, I brought this mobile three days. It's too early to give any valuable feedback, but still feels the phone has got a good build & great features. But even I have got some problems with battery cover but its manageable.

Awesome phone! K530i phone comes with amazing features which suits my usability. The 2 MP camera resolution is very good & this 3G phone really enhances the Internet speed. Buying this phone will be a good choice.

Hi all! I bought the black & copper/gold one. So far I have bought & used 3 Sony Ericsson mobile phones including this one. For me this is the best compared to the other two. I love the size, it's not too thin or too thick, the weight is just nice, the buttons are okay & of right sizes, the display is brilliant, all the functions are very user friendly & usable, & the speaker sound is loud & clear.

I share the same grouses to the loose battery cover. That really put me off, but I do my own minor modification anyway & now it feels very solid & tougher! What I did was I fold a piece of paper very thinly, cut to the size of the battery, & put it in between the battery & the SIM card area & voila! I got a more solid battery cover. But WARNING, this might affect your warranty or something, I don't know & you will find it harder to re open the battery cover & I don't want to be held responsible for any damages or complications but for me it works all right. If you want to try this method just do it carefully.

All things aside, I think this is one great phone & honestly for the money spent it worth more than that. Thank you.

I love Sony Ericsson mobile phones. This is my 3rd one. Love the looks, the features, & user-friendliness. I bought the black-copper tone. What else to say other than I simply love it! :).

This is a great mobile phone, there is just one problem. I can't install the PC Suite, when the installation begins it says Do you want to restart your computer now? & it comes up meanwhile I am installing it! If I press No, the install quits, if I press yes, it restarts! Please help me!

Pros:

Good value for money.
Clear bright display.
USB / BT connectivity.
Possibility of GPS add on.
Browser with certificate handling.
Push Email.
3G (2100)
Video recording.

Cons:

Some battery covers are flexing. Seems someone didn't do their homework at Sony Ericsson!

PC suite bundled software only works on XP/Vista, not W2K, though you could try MyPhoneExplorer (freeware) instead. ;-)

Although there is no M2 memory supplied, you can at least decide how much you want, up to 2GB. If you're looking for better camera spec's maybe the K810i would be more suitable although with the money you would save buying this phone you could buy a standalone digital camera with even better quality. All depends on what you want, basically you get what you pay for & in that respect you get quite a lot for your money with the K530i.

This phone is great! I went for the warm silver colour as I didn't want the contrasting black to copper stripe that encompasses the camera. The phone looks the business, smart, functional, respectable & I am not a business man.

My battery cover is NOT loose & the whole phone feels very solid & smooth. The display is crystal clear & VERY bright, I've turned the brightness right down low & it's still perfectly crystal clear. The downloadable content is really good too.

I have no problems what-so-ever with this mobile - I don't know what these other reviewers are whinging about. Maybe the Russian models are better? Thanks Sony Ericsson - this phone is awesome.

I got the warm silver one. So far, I am pleased with it after the Z610i I had it for one month & I sent it to repair 3 times & needed to argue with Orange that they'll replace it with another Sony Ericsson. Yesterday I got my new K530i. It has the same features like the K610 but with sound of 40 polyphonic.

I love all Sony Ericsson phones, but I agree with the other review about the battery cover. It is not stable & it makes noise while keying in messages or numbers. I thought that my unit was defective so I went back to the store to replace it but sad to say the problem of the battery cover making noise is still there. Help please can this be fixed?

This is a follow up to previous review where I highlighted a problem with the battery cover. Note: that I have now exchange the handset & the annoying noise is no more. But I have to say that I still feel the battery cover does not feel very solid but my initial problem has been solved. A good phone, at least for me so far despite initial problem.

Just started using this phone replacing an LG K800 Chocolate.
Overall features & usability are good but miss the touch of the LG Chocolate. It is a slick looking phone (warm silver version).

I choose this phone because of Sony's reputation & for the talk & standby time capability but cannot truly give feedback as it is too early. I have a problem with the battery cover though as it does not feel solid & makes noises when holding phone in hand whilst keying numbers etc. & I confirm I have not selected 'sound' for keys. I will return this particular phone & hope the replacement will not have this annoying defect. So great looking phone but may have a problem with the battery cover. More feedback to come.

The K530i is a more classic-looking handset that won't be as expensive as the K850i or W960i, but comes with a decent feature set nevertheless. It packs 3G connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, an FM radio & an expandable Memory Stick Micro slot. Another noteworthy feature is a pre-installed weather forecast application that gives you lets you see today's weather conditions & a three-day forecast. It's not the most striking handset of them all, but I still like what I see.
