Sony Ericsson K500i Review

The Sony Ericsson K500i is a great mid range phone with many good features. Sony Ericsson are making great head waves in the mid range mobile phone market. The K500i is a very compact & comfortable mobile phone. The Sony Ericsson K500i has features which include built in camera, video recording, MP3 player, fast 3D games & quality music tones. The 65K colour screen provides an excellent quality display which shows the photos & video recordings to their full potential. The photo & video recording camera function key can be located along the left hand side of the phone below the volume control buttons. The camera has a 4x digital zoom & is capable of taking very good shots in duller conditions.

The QuickShare™ feature by Sony Ericsson makes it easy for the user to send & share photos, sound & video clips all in a few easy steps. Sony Ericsson made the K500i extremely simple to use & it is such a fun phone to use, all the user has to do is enjoy the freedom of being mobile.

The loud speaker on the K500i makes the sound quality great for the MP3 player & video recording facility. The Battery life is also very good on the K500i especially when in standby.

The K500i is the English version of the Chinese K500c mobile phone & is the mid range model of the Sony Ericsson K700i, which is at the upper end of the mobile phone market.

Great imaging, fabulously fun & all in such a desirable package, this is the K500i.

My dad had this phone for 2 years before he passed it on to me, by which time it was quite old already. Since then, I have used it for another year & a half. Though it is still in pretty good condition, it IS getting old. The left & down navigation keys don't work as well anymore. It hangs sometimes when I input commands too fast. & one thing I really hate about it is the camera. The cute cover covering the lens is great, I like that, but I hate that the click sound is so loud when taking pictures. Its really annoying. I want cameras that can take photos silently.

Also, the 12MB phone memory is a JOKE. What is a MP3 player for if you can't even put 3 or 4 songs? & even if you do manage to squeeze in 3 or 4, there's absolutely NO room left for photos etc. You can't even insert a memory card of your own to make more space. I hate that too.

Other than the mentioned problems, I love this phone. It's good for those who want a cheap, good quality phone without too many features. Its light & the screen is good too. I'll be changing a phone by December, & I am definitely getting a Sony Ericsson phone again. Maybe the w850i, w580i, or s500i.

I love it, the infrared port is enough for me, the quality of the MP3s are great, well it's not a digital camera, but its good for its purpose.

It has a great design... Sleek & Stylish... Features are OK except for the VGA Camera which was a total disappointment - It has poor Camera Quality unlike the rest of the models... The last & certainly the least would be the Phone Memory... It packs 500 Contacts (OK)... BUT, it only has 12mb memory which made is very disappointing cause it's an Mp3 Player... And the worst thing that could happen - I noticed its SMS capacity is slowly deteriorating... From 30 messages to what is now 6 messages!! I'm talking about Inbox & Sent Messages here! Tsk Tsk Tsk...

I am very pleased with the battery on the K500i it really has made my working day easier, not having to keep an eye on the battery life left on my phone. My last phone drove me up the wall, as it was always running out of battery. It is so light & so compact, a nice looking phone.

K500i seemed full of features, but I must admit I thought it had Bluetooth & was quite disappointed to find out it didn't. The memory is also a bit of a joke for a camera, MP3 player phone. Come on we need more than 12mb of memory.

The sound recorder works great & when the sound is played back it is great quality. I am very surprised with this phone as it is not over priced & jam packed with all the extras, that I have found fun. I did not think I would use the camera but it is so much fun, I am getting into it all now.

No radio. The MP3 player is so good but no radio, Sony have put a radio with the K700i & I was expecting this to have it too. The keyboard is also noisy & a tad fiddly. The battery is very good compared to my previous Siemens phone.

Sony K500i has no Bluetooth connectivity for those of you who were expecting it like me. I am also having some problems when I press on the select button as it makes the screen go backwards, very frustrating at times. K500i is very light weight & very easy to hold in my hand. It is very easy to input text, which is nice for me. I must say that this phone is more of a no no for me & I wish I had got the Sony K700i or the Nokia 7610 at this present time. I may actually trade it in & get the K700i. I will let you know what I think about it on the review sheet.
