Sony Ericsson K300i Review

The K300i really gives the user so much freedom when it comes to messaging. The user can send & receive messages using text messaging service (SMS), email & multimedia messaging service (MMS). The MMS message gives the user the freedom to send a message complete with text, sound & pictures to any other MMS compatible device.
The K300i is very similar to the Sony Ericsson K500i & the Sony Ericsson T610, but the K300i has a fuller style casing which makes it feel very solid. The phone comes in a choice of visual blue or smooth silver coloured casing & both give the K300i a great modern look.
This mobile phone is such a fun mobile phone to use & it is full of great features. The K300i is the extremely user friendly mobile phone & all at an affordable price.

This is the nice phone if, you used it carefully. If clean the phone once in a month, joystick does not give problem in future. Battery backup is law. Camera clarity is much better than value. Memory is very short. Java game downloadable. Charger connecter port is given problem in future. Nice phone as compare to price.

I have had this phone for 4 years now & it still works fine. OK it is not the best phone in the world but it is really good for value!

There are two fundamental problems with this model which the buyer discovers just after a few months of usage.
- Navigation key (joystick) starts giving problems. You have to press multiple times to left before you see the effect on screen.
- the charging port gets corroded due to friction. This is because of poor design of charging port.
& once the above two problems become more compounded the phone becomes unusable just in 1 or 2 years. I won't recommend anyone buying this phone. Better go for that model of Nokia which fits in your budget. Nokia sells a little costlier but quality & reliability wise, they are the best!

I like the k300i, nice phone.

I didn't like this phone as it was heavy to carry & rather fat as well. The design is alright but old. It is easy to use but only if you are used to the Sony way of mobile working. Good points are it's easy to text with & OK to ring as well.

The joystick / scroll stick stopped working even before a year of purchase.

I have used K300i which is almost similar to K310i. It was working fine but started giving a lot of problems when it fell down once. Good for the price but not robust enough to last long.

Mediocre at best. Joystick is broken. Camera is ordinary. No memory. Te back tends to fall off. Often loses reception. Best to avoid this one.

Superb phone. I know that there's not enough memory for video & music but when looking at the other features in the phone it is the best & I love it!

This phone is rubbish! The main problem is the charging mechanism. Three moths after I bought my phone I had to get the charging port replaced for $40. 6 months later & it's broken again.

Nice looking phone, it's a shame there's no Bluetooth though.
A few problems:
Short battery life
Joystick stopped working properly after the first year. It wouldn't move down which makes it impossible to use predictive text or scroll down through contacts

It takes a while to get used to after another make but very easy to use & has most of the must have features. The memory is quite small & data cables are hard to get hold of though. It is quite big but that doesn't mean it isn't a good design. I'd recommend it!

First, I am in Canada, so mine is a K300a ('a' for America). That said, I am not aware of any MP3 playing on this phone. (Nor do I care, as I have an iPod) I bought this phone for its svelte design & how well it was put together. Pity we can't try these in advance here for reception, clarity of sound etc, you know the marks of a well conceived PHONE. Anyhow, I have had mine for almost a year (since Jan. 2005) & no probs at all. Camera is rubbish & wasted on me, as I already have a great digital camera. What really peeves me is the 'Select/Calls/OK' & 'More' horizontal silver-stick buttons & how tricky it is to accurately activate these. I've found away around the awkwardness of using them. I am also not fond of the ON/OFF button & the center joy-stick. I DO like the tactile pill-button keypad, the Orange back-light (vs. Blue), battery life (talk & standby time) & very compact nature. Oh yes, it has great reception & is very clear sounding in & out. I guess it is quite a fine mobile phone after all!

Great idea for a phone but. The phone screen is bad quality & needed Bluetooth (at least it has inferred though) other then that it has MP3 video games wap ECT. You get what you pay for!

The K300i is the best buy for a low cost mobile phone in the world, hence why I am using it. But I am upset only with the camera, the pics captured from it have got no clarity & not up to the mark. I hope it is be better on the K310i...

It has good features on this phone, I have had I for about a year & it is in working condition but I am still getting a new one because this has absolutely no memory. Well not enough to fit on Mp3's, if you want to put an Mp3 player on a phone it must have a lot of memory to fit on the songs. But 12Mb isn't enough, before buying this phone I would consider the memory more than anything. I feel I am going to upgrade to the W300i which has a lot more memory & Mp3 it is the perfect phone for me. Unlike this one Lol!

I feel really bad giving this phone high marks! I got this phone 6 months ago & it is dead! It no longer works!
Although this phone is light & easy to use, the back kept falling off & I feel it is a fragile phone in places.
Reviewer: Graham - Kilmarnock, UK

This phone is very easy to use especially because of the analogue stick in the center of the phone instead of a D pad I only got this phone because my v980 broke however considering my v980 cost £150 & this was only £70 this had more features & even had infrared so price wise it is a very good phone.

You either love it on first sight or hate it, for me it was love at first sight. I have read a lot of reviews on this phone & everyone seems to be complaining about the memory & the mp3 player, given that Sony slipped up with the memory but one has got to take the price into consideration. Memory excluded the phone is simply brilliant, if you are looking for value for money, you do not have to look beyond K300i.

My phone is great! I love the Sony mobiles. My last phone was a J200i but I couldn't get any games from Vodafone live! I can get stacks of games on my new K300i. But I'm with Lisa Smith (below) I don't know how to use the MP3 player & I really want to know.

I have recently been out & bought the Sony Ericsson K300i & I am very pleased with it. It is the second Sony mobile phone I have had & it is very easy to use. I am not one for the gadgets on these phones, but wow. I am really enjoying the camera on the Sony Ericsson K300i, it is so easy to use & such great quality. I will have to stick with the Sony phones now because they are great.

My new mobile phone is the Sony K300i & it has given me much pleasure already. I have only had the phone for just over a week & I am using it a lot more than I used my previous Nokia mobile. I love the camera & love the way it all seems so simple & easy to use. Get it if you can it is the best.

I purchased this particular mobile phone on a tighter budget than desired. I must admit I am not usually taken in with all the technological features on the new mobile phones, but this phone has a superb built in camera. My daughter & I sat down with the Sony Ericsson booklet & within a couple of hours she had me sending photos to our relatives abroad. I am a changed woman since purchasing this type of mobile phone, thank you Sony Ericsson.

Where is the memory in this phone? It doesn't have enough memory to save all the video clips & music I want to save. But all in all the phone is proving to be a good phone, it is just the lack of memory guys.

I feel I have really got value for money with my new phone. It really is a great little phone, it has all I need & more. The keys are great for texting & the joy stick navigation is so helpful. A lovely little phone at a bargain price. Do not use the music player.

Reviewer: Bill Lewington - UK

Sony have slipped up with this one, they are truly making it for the middle to bottom of the market. The music player is useless, actually a joke. The memory is appalling. The camera is fair but does not come with a protective cover over the lens, so I hope you don't scratch yours. I think Sony should stick at designing the expensive top end of the market phones, because this is a joke. It is basically a phone with a few thrown in features that do not give the user any pleasure what so ever. What a mess!

People can moan about the K300i having no memory, being a rubbish MP3 player & the camera being average. It is a value for money phone, get it. You are paying a great price for a great phone with some good average extras. Get over it & enjoy what you can afford.

What a poor phone, I hate to be negative about Sony because I really like the manufacture. I was so unhappy with the Sony K300i that yesterday I had to go & change it for the Sony K700i. Sorry Sony but the K300i is a No & the K700i is a Yes. I will do a great review & comments on the K700i.

K300i is a super looking moby & it the easiest moby I have ever had to use. I was reading my mates text out to her whilst she was driving & she had the K300i, it was so easy for me to pick up her phone & know what to do & where to go to get to her text messages. I went out the very next day & upgraded my moby to the same as my mate. All my mates are hooked on Sony mobys, they are the best ever. If you can get a Sony moby they are the business.
