The phone is really cute but the phone has less features & usability! We all need more than that! Please, if the owner of Sony Ericsson is reading this, I hope he'll design the same phone as this phone but more futuristic & really usable which people would admire. I need to show off sometimes!

Design wise, I love this little phone. It's small & compact & fits into almost all my pockets with ease. Like the features that is has. The usability of it on the other hand sucks at times. I agree with the T9 option it has but once you have a word it does not recognise, it just won't let you store it. When you store a number, it's so annoying to have to manually delete the number that you just entered on the screen before you go back to the main screen. Unlike Nokia, it does not have that option where you can delete your call history with one click, rather, one has to delete that one by one, utter inconvenience. The amount of text messages one can store is limited. The vibration mode of it is hopeless! Can't even feel the vibration when it's on the vibrate only mode.

Apart from that, yes, if you're looking for a very simple phone, this is one to get. I've grown attached to it & just have to clench my teeth & bear with the downsides to the options it has or more like, it doesn't have.

I am really sorry that I purchased this phone, & I hope there is a way to get rid of it soon.

I don't care about looks of a phone, but it has to work at least. Whenever I am talking longer than 3 minutes on this phone, my voice starts cracking, & people tell me, that my words get cut off. Thus, it is not possible to phone anyone or to receive any phone call that last longer than 3 minutes. This, at least [my] phone has some real technical problem & I hope that I can exchange it for a properly functioning phone.

Utter rubbish, I am so fed up with the fact it only stores 20 messages, even less now, it seems to be running out of memory, only holding around 12 messages until that annoying message symbol appears at the top & you delete your entire inbox to receive the message that you have but you have to wait for it to come through again which doesn't always happen.

Hard to text with too, I have to hold it with both hands to get a grip on it.

Awful ringtones.

Though the battery life is satisfying, overall worth £15 if you just want a phone that works.

Most horrible phone I ever held in my hands. I got it from a phone company as a temporary substitution for my Nokia which went out of order, & I can't wait to get my phone back. No Internet, it's never possible even to check if you have any new messages in your inbox. No back count: I always use this function when I put my linen into the washing machine & set the phone for the back count 1-1.5 hours. Awful non-clickable buttons - it takes almost a physical effort for fingers to text! Also it has very limited number of messages: 30 & you have to delete them all again & again. Ringtones are pretty nice though. Overall, it's sad to receive such a rubbish phone from Sony Ericsson. My first phone was Sony Ericsson T300, worked perfectly for 2 years & never made me complain.

The design is really good. I saw it at the store & just said 'that's it'. Then, after asking some questions about its features, I found that it was enough & the price was OK. But once I started using it, I noticed that the signal was never good & sometimes it simply couldn't find a signal while everyone in my city could get that signal. & because of that, my calls used to hang up suddenly, & the battery couldn't handle longer than 2 days.

When the battery died & the phone got off, then I plugged it to recharge, & turned it on, & then got an advice that someone has called me & that I've got new messages earlier. I just noticed that I was loosing calls & messages too.

What was a beautiful phone became a nightmare from a day to another.

Bought said mobile after reading the many reviews, as I just wanted something very simple, attractive & something that I would not cry about if it got lost. It certainly lives up to everything that was positive about it. & yes I have become quite attached to it. However there is one drawback. I send a lot of texts & the predictive text is invaluable. The problem is this. If the word is not in its dictionary then you cannot add it! You have to turn T9 off & use the multi-tap function! This is absurd & ridiculous! I want my money back! But other than that it is rather good value for money.

I seem to have the same problem as Eric Ang (17th Jan).

I am not sure it actually IS the same problem. My phone just did not ring when I received a call. Didn't display anything, found out people had tried to reach me by accidentally looking in the missed calls thingy. Did some tests: no ringing. I could receive text messages though.

After reading Eric's entry just now I turned off the phone (I never do this), turned it on again, & guess what? Phone rang again.

This phone is really bad. Apart from this major problem I wasn't too happy with it in the first place. Bought it as a replacement for my old Sony Ericsson T200, which was many times better & more advanced. I'll go back to the store with this problem, & I hope they will just give me my money back so I can change it to. I dunno, a Nokia I guess?

If there are more people with this problem, I'd like to know too!

I bought the phone cos I need something that is simple without all those over loaded feature.

However, when I use the phone I found that there is a problem. Whenever I reconnect to the network after coming out from a lift, the phone looks fine, but no call or sms can get it.

The phone shows that it is connected to the mobile provider, but when I try to call the phone, I will receive a voice mail to say that the user is unreachable.

This has not happen to any other previous phone. Just like to know if anyone has encountered this peculiar problem.

Am I the only person who is experiencing 'echo' with this phone? I have tried 2 different phones & a third in the shop & they all give an annoying 'echo' which is most noticeable on the receiver's phone. It sort of sounds like there is a third person on the phone or that someone is talking away in the background. This phone is really nice & I am reluctantly asking for a refund because no one can explain why the problem is there except that it may be a design fault. Perhaps some people buy the phone & because it's so cheap don't expect the sound to be up to much. I dunno. It's a mystery. Shame.

This phone is the mobile equivalent of a classic Austin mini... four wheels, steering, brakes & windscreen wipers... does 300 hours to the gallon & 8 hours when speeding... park it anywhere & it wont look out of place.. It reminds of refillable clipper lighter...simple elegant well designed for the job... all for £30 (including £15 airtime from Virgin) I truly think this is a superb phone for the money

A stripped down lightweight racy looking thing...no frills yet maximum style in an understated way. It lights up nice too. Lovely blue key numerics & a clear easy screen. With incredibly easy menu system the font size is great...no more squinting to read anything...& no more mistyping.

This may be the cheapest Sony on the market...but I think the designers took a long hard look at what a basic phone should do. And they came up with a winner both in function & style. There's nothing else at the price that looks so cute & functions so well... in fact... I thin it makes a lot of mid priced phones look a bit unnecessary & overpriced once you forget the endless menus & games that you never use...& just want something reliable fuss free & works like second nature... I may well get a more expensive phone with lots of up to date gadgets to satisfy my appetite for new technology... but I think this Sony will always be in my back pocket...cos its damn sturdy too. And yet very light.

I had a Nokia 3310 for ages & it eventually dies. I wanted something even simpler than the 3310 for less than the price of 6 months insurance on a contract phone... that looked cool functioned well & with a long battery life when I'm on the road... the Sony J100i is something of a classic ( no I don't work for Sony). I only hope they'll keep the size format & design layout in future of this phone... the phone models immediately above this look dreadful in my opinion...regardless of what extras they have...

I love this phone!

I bought this little phone today & it just so cute. It is gonna take me a little longer to get use to the phone & its shortcuts. It is a must for anyone & it came with £15 credit on the phone & for £29.99 you could not go wrong with the bargain price. This appealed to me straight away because of its design & what the specifications were as well.

Really sweet looking little phone, not much going on inside this phone but it would be ideal for first time phone users & the younger mobile phone users. Although it is very light on features I am still very attracted to its design & overall look. It is very clean, simple & a rather pure looking little mobile. Little it is.... with its 100 x 44 x 18 mm sized case & it only weighs in at 70 grams which is very light & a joy to carry around, I guess. Bet this phone will be a total sell out as it is very sweet.

The J100i is a little baby, & all babies need a Mummy. I will be its Mummy. It is very small & compact, that's what I love about it. I would like it in the white coloured cover. My son would think this is a boring phone with no camera & no video etc, but I wouldn't use it if I had it. To be honest I am still using his very old & very unfashionable Nokia 3210, which he keeps reminding me is an antique now. When I started looking at this web site I made a list of what I really wanted from my next mobile phone. The list reads small, neat, easy to use, text messaging easy, alarm clock & most important reliable, so therefore this would be the perfect new phone for me.

We liked the overview of this particular model as it oozes with appeal & looks very dainty. It is a rather featureless mobile phone but that just adds to its appeal, we don't want a high specification phone that we will never use to its full potential. We are both very loyal Sony Ericsson customers & are very familiar to the screen quality provided which is fantastic & the layout of the keypad is always very simple to use & very responsive to each & every touch. This model has a dual band network which is perfectly good enough for our need. This is a very nice mobile phone & we will be very happy to be the proud owners of one soon. We will return with an updated review when we have tried & tested this model out.

Simple, small & a great looking phone but the lack of features really wouldn't work for me. It may be popular with the youngsters but even they like a phone to show off to their friends. I may be missing the trick but I am not sure what age group this has been marketed towards. All in all I will give it a high rating for the design alone & the simplicity of its design. I like it but I do need more features as that is what I have got use to now.
