I've got this phone for almost a year now. Though this phone is not worth the money.
The touch screen broke after riding with my bike in the rain, while the phone being in my trousers. Also terribly slow & crashes often. Pictures are rubbish & loads very slowly. That makes usability 20%.
Pretty decent design, but the cover creeks when just touching the phone. I had to cut a piece of paper in the right size & had to place it behind the cover for the squeaking to stop. Easily scratched as well. There are also 2 gaps above & under the screen where you can put a piece of paper between. Dust got behind the screen very quickly. So design 30%.
Pretty good features although not the best. Playing games on this is not possible due to the phone being slow. Features 50%.

I bought this 2 days back. So slim, it's good. Camera is extraordinary. Wi-Fi speed is good compare to other products.

I am currently using a Sony Ericsson phone (K750i). I found it almost perfect at the price.
However, I need to replace it because it doesn't have the Flight mode. Without this mode, I dare not to put it beside my pillow at night to listen MP3 because of its radiation, though its Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is only 0.67 (the safety limit is 2W Kg based on ICNIRP Guidelines). You know, absorbing radiation all night is no good to health even the radiation is low!
Perhaps the reason for the hotness after talking for about 15 minutes by Andrea (comments made by him on 23rd Jul 2008 below) is due to the high SAR of G900, which is 1.47.
I fully believe that G900 is a great phone but I won't buy it as the SAR is relative high when compared with other phones. I also wonder why people rarely mind the SAR of mobile phones when they consider buying a new one.

Thank goodness they put Wi-Fi in this one, I believe the N95 had an edge over certain Sony Ericsson's because of this, but will surely go for this as an upgrade. It's one of Sony Ericsson's greatest makes ever. It's a pocket friendly Smartphone candy bar. It doesn't look like one but it is pocket friendly. Its a great phone I own one. Its just what I need right down to the fine 5 MP camera with autofocus, integrated flash, LED photo light & image stabilisation. Overall it is the iPhone 3G killer in my opinion. Thanks Jai.

I think this phone is in the top 3 of Sony Ericsson makes along with the xperia x1 & c905. This phone has everything that I need. It has gps it has Wi-Fi & it has 3G. It's a shame that it doesn't have hsdpa but that doesn't matter. Overall I love it (will you be able to get this phone on PAYG) thanks, Jai.

I want to know whether this phone can be locked or not, meaning when you want to open the keypad lock, you need to enter password like Nokia phone. So, nobody can simply unlock the phone.

One of the main negatives in the design of this phone are the themes that come on it, as the menu icons are rather clumsy & not very stylish at all.

I got this phone 4 days ago, & so far I am very pleased with it.
Let's start with a few good points (& there are many!):
First, for the hardware. The screen is nice & large, which is a great feature, & the colours deep & vibrant. The phone itself feels really nice when held in my hand, slim, solid, just wide enough so you can get a good & comfortable grip on it. The keys are easy to press, but not so easy that you will launch an unwanted action by mistake. The touch screen responds great to both the stylus & the fingers. The key lock button placed at the side of the phone makes locking & unlocking the keypad & screen a breeze. & the camera application is also launched from a button on the side, so there's no more risk of accidentally setting off the camera!
Now, functionality. There are loads of great features in this phone, but I won't go through the trouble of listing them as everyone wanting this phone is already familiar with the technical specs. Moreover, I am only just getting acquainted with all of them & trying to learn how to use them to their best advantage. So for now let's just say it really enables the user to organize, compartmentalize, label, & sort through all sorts data, whether it is SMS, MMS, emails, notes, media files, photos, etc. & by sharing the navigation between the keypad & the touch screen almost equally, Sony Ericsson have really made using this phone a delight, it's the perfect marriage between a classic phone, blackberry & a Pilot or iPhone. & with so many ways to enter text (keypad, stylus, on screen keyboard) one feels almost spoiled!
Any negatives? Well, unfortunately there will be some soon. (Or perhaps the previous user can share with us some info on where he found the themes he downloaded? That would be great!)
Another fault is that navigating through some functions can feel a bit lengthy (the Messaging menu, once open, only shows Call Voicemail, Create New Message, & Inbox. So to see any other messaging folders, like Sent or Drafts, the user needs to click on the side navigation button or a side arrow on the screen to go, one by one, through the full list of folders). It's the same when choosing ringtones & other sound alarms, the user needs to first choose the Ringtones function (which is totally separate from Message Alerts), then choose the function they want the sound for, then click on Find Sound, then choose a sound (which you cannot sample just yet), then once back in the previous menu click Play to see if it's good. If not, the user needs to go back to Find Sound & then sample it back in the previous menu again. & so on. There's plenty more examples of this type of roundabout way of doing things on this phone. It's not tragic, but it can be a bit annoying.
Then, finally, I find the phone gets a bit too hot during phone calls, just last night I had a 15 minutes conversation, & by the end of it I had to hang up in a rush because I just couldn't stand having the phone near my face anymore! I could still feel the slight burning sensation 5 minutes after hanging up. & that's just not right!
& that's my two cents. Thanks for reading.

I tried it the other day in a shop, & for sure will buy it at the end of this month, what I can't find out, does it have GPS or is it as they explained to me that you can download it via Wi Fi? Someone else told me you can buy accessory which allows the GPS. Any clarifications? That is why I gave 85% for the features, because a mobile at this price must have a GPS now. Please let me know, thank you.

Hello, anyone knows what material is the casing of the Sony Ericsson G900, plastic or metal? Cheers.

Classical shape, slim & handy! But no new features exactly as compare to previous models of Sony Ericsson, I think Sony has just changed body & shape with inside hardware same as previous models I.e. Camera from k850, touch screen from w960 or p1i. No good video player which play multi format files like Nokia. Symbian OS do not accept many software like Symbian 60 V3. I think those who love design buy Sony.

Got this phone today, so far so good, feels nice in hand right size, Brilliant camera, Great MP3 player, Video playback Quality is excellent, Wi Fi is good found my hub straight away breeze to configure, Came with Bluetooth headpiece, Default themes a bit naff, but that's my opinion, But I loaded new ones XP found phone as soon as plugged in without any software, drag & drop easy also came with spare stylus, shame no protective case though. Can't find any Faults with it at moment the touch screen is very responsive with stylus or fingers. Not much else I can say at the moment will update in a few weeks, but at moment well pleased.
