I have just bought this phone & I have to say it is worth every penny. The camera is amazing & theres so many things it can do. The phone has a nice weight (not to heavy, not too light). The only disadvantage of the phone is that the leather strap was a nightmare to put on :-p.
This phone has my vote 10 out of 10.

Great phone, best camera on a mobile I've ever found, but the buttons are useless! Specifically buttons number 1 & 2. I am & since I got the phone, have to really press the buttons to get them to work, where as the others are quite sensitive & easy! Quite a chunky phone compared to others.

Got this phone in December.
At first all went well then started to lose signal, work phone on same network no problems.phone went back for repair they replaced it. That lasted 3 weeks same fault back again another new handset & guess what had it since 1st of June & same fault back again.
Phone now in bin using old 800i which is 10 times better.

My first C905 had to be returned to Orange after a little over a week because its earpiece broke. I received a brand new phone from Orange as a replacement. However, the second phone developed exactly the same fault 31 days later, meaning I had to contact Sony Ericsson or get a refurbished phone from Orange.
I received from Sony Ericsson what I was told was a brand new C905 (although I don't believe it was, as the first photograph I took had the filename DSC00627 instead of DSC00001). Now the earpiece in my third C905 has now stopped working. The down key on the main menu button also sticks & Number 1 key is hard to press too.
The same happened to the earpiece of the C905 of a friend of mine a month ago, unfortunately.
I have read all the comments on here, & am well aware that there is an earpiece fault on early models. Anon UK, states that, If you have a model which states 08w48 or earlier, best take it back to the shop under the guarantee. I have looked at the model number on mine which is 08W51.
I am actually a fan of the phone. When it works! Because of this being my third failed phone, my updated review grade for usability must go down to 30%.

I got this phone in April 2009. I have had problems with this phone from the beginning, first off the speaker died after about a week, I phoned my insurance company & they sent me a new 1.
This phone was great for about 3 weeks then the (C) clear button stopped working (nothing major except when typing text message if you made a mistake you had to start all over again).
I phoned my insurance company again & they then dispatched another new phone. I received this phone yesterday to find that the screen was fuzzy & the stylus didn't work. So currently this phone is in the post to the insurance company I am once again left with no mobile phone!
I have nothing but problems with this phone, I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it!

This phone is terrible I have only had mine since last October I have had eight brand new ones each time & all of them have broken on me.
- Phone1, the speaker broke so I couldn't hear anything when I was on the phone.
- Phone 2, all of the bottoms didn't work on the part you slide up, screen would freeze & turn its self on & off.
- Phone 3, the slider became wobbly within 3 days.
- Phone 4, had it a week after that any sim you put in to the phone would be an un active SIM.
-Phone 5, phone moved to side & locks. Screen would freeze & turn off but didn't come back on.
- Phone 6, any SIM put in phone was un active SIM.
- Phone 7, the speaker broke couldn't hear anything whilst on the phone & the speaker at the bottom broke.
- Phone 8, the phone would do random things when you pressed certain numbers.

I have this phone since early this year & it was fabulous, not showing any problems at all. Since about 3 days ago when my phone turned itself off. I turned it back on & the battery had lost half charge it wasn't a big surprise to me as my previous mobile Sony Ericsson W910i did the same. In the instruction booklet it says that if the mobile says No network coverage on the home screen it means it's on flight mode so I did what it said to do but it had no effect. My C905 has become really slow & I have lost my contacts, accessories & games & now the battery is showing empty but still on just turning itself off now & again, also freezing & has no signal in fact anything to do with the SIM has gone or won't work. I also thought it might be the SIM but I have changed it twice & it was still the same. I am planning on taking my C905 to the shop I bought it from to see what they can do as luckily I am insured. Also a lot of my friends have the C905 & the same has happened to them it could of been a faulty batch of phones similar to the W910i incident when they were first released, I just don't know. Sony Ericsson are a great mobile company & I rate them a lot just be careful when buying their products when their first released because there's been something wrong with 3 of my recent mobiles when I got them when they were first released.
BUT I am not saying don't buy the phone as its fantastic but I would definitely get it insured or you could be paying a lot of money to get your phone sent off if any problems occur.

Good phone if you want a good camera & basic phone stuff but no good to replace a P1i. Can't load more than 1, 000 contacts (pain as I sync with outloook). Calendar functionality limited. I miss touch screen & find keyboard slower without stylus.

I had this phone since last October, & immediately found there were features that weren't working properly. GPS issues, 3G connection kept on being lost etc. I later found out this was due to firmware problems, & was told to wait for updates. This took about 4 months to sort out, which wasn't a massive problem but still annoying to have a phone with all these features but you couldn't use them!
Then in May the microphone died on me, meaning the only way I could be heard during a call was by putting it on speaker. This was extremely annoying, so I sent it off to be repaired. It arrived back in exactly the same condition, which was the final straw for me.
I have now ordered a Nokia N85 which even though has a lower resolution, will hopefully at least work!
This is the important part of the review! I LOVE Sony Ericsson, the best phone I ever had was the W900 which I had for nearly 3 years & it NEVER let me down, it was brilliant. My other half has also had 4 previous Sony Ericsson phones & loved them all too. However all the problems I've had with the C905 has totally put me off them, & I am afraid they have lost a very loyal customer forever. Goodbye Sony Ericsson, we had some truly great times but you let me down so much I just had to go to Nokia.

I got this phone on the 3rd of January 2009, it was an upgrade. It went back to my local 3 store on the 3rd of May due to a faulty screen it was all jumbled & the colours were wrong. However this only seemed to happen when I slid the phone down. After receiving the repaired phone 3 days later (I was very impressed with their speedy service I must say) I had to take it in again on the 28th of April! With the same fault. 4 days later I went & collected my brand new one & nearly two months later this new one has the same fault however this time the screen tends to go completely blank every so often! So taking it in again tomorrow for them to probably send me another one which will break in two months!
Apart from this major complaint & my Wi-Fi not working I like the phone, its excellent camera & nice large bright display. I would also like to express how pleased I am with 3 staff in the store, as for the ones on the phone at customer services that's a complaint for another day!
Once Sony Ericsson are absolutely sure they have recalled all their faulty C905's I wouldn't advise buying one, go for something more reliable. I am not being cruel about Sony Ericsson however as my K800i was second hand when I got it & its lasted me forever & whenever this C905 breaks!

I have a fault on this phone which a lot of people have & that is with the ear piece has completely stopped working. I can only hear people if I put them on loud speaker. My friend has had this problem 3 times & each time it is sent out to be fixed only to break again. After expressing my concerns with O2 about this being a common fault & a re-occurring fault they still wouldn't offer a replacement phone. Even when I asked what happens if it breaks 5 times with the same fault, the response I got was, we will fix it five times. Absolutely pathetic, I have only had this phone five months & the slider is wobbling as well.
NOT IMPRESSED.

My partner & I both had C905's. These phones should have been great apart from the faults. My phone was sent away for repair because of a fault with the arrow key, which later became faulty for a second time, then the earpiece decided to go buzzy, & the slider went wobbly. My partner's phone developed a faulty earpiece, it was sent away for repair & he got a reconditioned phone in replacement, this developed a faulty earpiece & was sent away for repair but it came back unrepaired, so it went away again, it got replaced with another scratched reconditioned phone. We both got rid of our C905 phones. The C905 promises so much, but for us was just a huge disappointment. Now got Samsung Tocco Ultra.

I am afraid I have to have my say on this phone. I bought it in December & by the end of December I couldn't hear through the ear piece & had to use the speaker phone. So I had a new one, then a month later, the phone switched off & would not go back on again, so I had to get another replacement. & now this one, the keys are not working properly & I have to keep pressing them hard. If you do get this phone, just be aware there has been a few faults with it. Good luck.

Do not waste your time buying the C905, it is the worst phone I have ever had. Since getting it in November 2008 it has numerous problems including internal microphone needing replaced twice, actual phone being replaced once & the last time it went to get fixed they never even told me what the fault was! Orange say it's not their fault & as long as Sony keep fixing or replacing it I am stuck with it for the next year. As I write this it lays beside me broken again, the picture has disappeared completely, oh well that's a new one. I shall take my monthly trip to the Orange shop tomorrow & send it away to get fixed. AGAIN (may I just say the workers in the Orange shop are very helpful).

OK, so I mean, yeah people would say this is a brilliant phone, with the 8.1 megapixel camera, xenon flash & all, but I have had to have this phone taken back 3 times 3 TIMES. Because of the phone not switching on, the camera faulty, the keypad being broken, it just keeps on being sent back to me & the same keeps on happening.
I got this phone at the beginning when it had just started coming out, all the reviews were good so I got it, I advise you not to buy it, it is just a waste of time & money, I am now using my Sony Ericsson w910i which I have had for 2 years & it has not let me down once.

I really felt I should add my experiences to this page.
This is a decent phone, but one beset by problems with the early builds. Most 2008 models have now been recalled & the 2009 models are very stable. My phone does not have any of the faults listed here, although the previous firmware did crash irreparably, causing a bit of a headache, but was quickly fixed by using SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service).
A few points for newcomers.
- Beware the amount of people here saying the same thing (such as DO NOT BUY THIS phone! ) etc. People are fans of certain makes, & I suspect this forum is subject to false reviews to deter potential customers from certain brands & models. If you like the look of the thing, go into a shop & play with one before buying. It is a good phone.
- Buy from a reputable dealer with a fast turnover of stock. Each model had a 'date code' marked inside the battery compartment. Any model marked 09w12 for example, should be fine. The earpiece problem was caused by a cable under the slider, it is believed this has been rectified. These later models come with firmware R1DA032 which has more features & is more stable. If you have a model which states 08w48 or earlier, best take it back to the shop under the guarantee.
- New firmware has been available from 12th of May R1EA033. This irons out many more bugs & is very stable from first impressions. Sony Ericsson should have had this quality from the start, but now we can enjoy a decent phone with stability at last! When you get a new C905, connect it to SEUS for an update immediately.
- If you're a 'Nokia person', stick to Nokia. If you don't like the Sony Ericsson way of laying out a phone interface, don't have a go at them on here for it, some of us like it like that. I find Sony Ericsson phones a real pleasure to use. I also understand some people think differently.
- the camera is excellent, but no substitute for a decent digital camera. If you want excellent photos though, buy a cheap film camera, they're even better.
- GPS & Wi-Fi work as well as you could expect on a phone. I've no complaints! See them more as added features rather than being a dedicated positioning device or broadband router, it's a telephone.
- the C905 usually comes packed with a 2GB memory card.
- Once you have the phone, keep things backed up by using a free utility called 'My Phone Explorer'. That means when you update firmware or need to reset the phone, your messages & phonebook will be kept. Try to remember that if you kept your PC on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you'd expect it to slow down or crash at some point. It helps the C905 (& all other phones come to think of it) to turn them off once in a while & back on again.
- Finally, look after the thing. There is a lot of delicate technology in a top end phone, & it's not a good idea to subject a £300 device to overuse, heat, humid conditions, bashing around, etc. The screen is mineral glass & brilliantly clear (apparently scratchproof too, mine is still perfect). Even so, it's not a good idea to keep it in a pocket alongside keys or food. If you don't treat it with care, expect it not to last as long! These things aren't meant to be indestructible.
So, to reiterate, don't be put off by the low scoring reviews & comments about the C905. I am more than a little suspicious of some of the repetitive comments (& the oddly similar poor spelling). Almost all of the negativity relates to faulty earlier builds, as of June 2009, it is a really decent & stable mobile phone.
Hope this has been of help to people on this review site!

I had this phone for an upgrade in late December less than 4 weeks from having the phone it has to go back because I couldn't hear when on a call unless it was on speaker phone. Now on my second phone & it has to go back again for the same problem plus another problem where you have to push a couple of buttons so hard to make them work.
I would not recommend this phone & I can't wait till my phone is due for an upgrade so I can get rid of it!

I have always used Sony Ericsson phones & after reading all the awful reviews very nearly didn't get it. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WOULD OF BEEN! I've only had the phone a week so I do appreciate there is time for problems but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PHONE!
For all the people out there who want a nice easy phone to text on. Upload music onto & take pictures this is the phone for you! The camera is excellent & the video quality is amazing. I have never loved a phone so much!
I don't use the Wi-Fi & all the gadgets bits so maybe that's why I love it so much but please if you want this phone for texting & camera then get it & don't listen to the reviews. They nearly put me off getting it!
GO & GET THIS PHONE, IT'S AMAZING!

I have had this phone for 3 weeks after upgrading from the K850i, which I loved.
First impressions are, the phone looks very sleek. The earpiece is still working after 3 weeks. The screen is very clear & bright.
The downside is that the battery life is rubbish, I am not a person who uses the phone much for the Internet, or talking for hours, I text, but not hundreds a day, but still the battery is rubbish., I have to charge it most days.
The other thing that took some getting used to, was the keypad, after having proper buttons on my old phone, these buttons were quite fiddly to start with, I would imagine anyone with large fingers would struggle with this phone for texting etc.
Not sure if this phone is as good as my K850i time will tell.
Overall this phone looks good, & has lots of good extras but the battery issue needs sorting.

I bought the Sony Ericsson C905 last October 2008. Since then the phone has gone in for REPAIR 4 TIMES! Same problem. EARPIECE NOT WORKING. Apart from this constant fault it would be a great fault. If anyone is thinking of buying one I would advise them not to, & wait until Sony Ericsson sort this problem out for good.

Only got as far as a week's trial with this phone, & I have to say I am gutted. I am such a Sony Ericsson fan but this phone is a MAJOR MAJOR disappointment :(.
Spent the first few days trying & trying to get the WIFI to work, & each time (even after successful router connecting) was a no go, COMMUNICATION ERROR, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR ADMINISTRATOR FOR SUPPORT.
Rang & spoke to Vodafone who said they have software faults & it doesn't work! CHARMING! Sold me a phone highlighting this feature knowing damn well it doesn't work.
OK the next problem is the battery, please? Is this some kind of joke, do they think we have the time, effort, energy or patience to mess about charging a phone every few hours, NO WE DON'T!
Lastly this phone is a week old today & already the speaker is muffled, quiet, unclear & generally about to break.
Having enough of the problems I spoke to a friend's friend who is the manager of a Vodafone shop & he advised they have had hundreds of these phones returned.
Well Sony Ericsson I was your biggest fan now I am increasingly becoming your worst enemy.
Going to try the N96 now. Well, at least the Sony Ericsson IDOU is released later this year.

I am with Orange & on my third replacement. This phone is good while it works. I have had it replaced due to the speaker going. Now my keypad keeps locking & it's not letting me know when I have received a text. This is happening to someone else who owns the phone too. BUT today, after a few weeks of behaving like that, it's fixed itself. I wonder how long for. Had a LOAD of trouble with Orange trying to replace the last handset claiming I needed to pay £180 to get it fixed. I would say if you're buying this phone on a contract not to bother. I'd buy a cheaper phone & buy a camera.

I have had this phone since January 2009. What annoys me is that once you slide the phone shut it does not go back to the main screen, the texting is very awkward as well as using capital letters, I used to be a pretty fast texter but since I had this phone I am like a snail due to the buttons.
I have also recently had problems with making phone calls, I cannot hear my phone ringing the other person & they cannot hear me & I cannot hear them. I am on Orange Network, they are going to replace my phone with the same model. I asked Orange if they had similar problems with this handset, they confirmed to me they have had a bad batch with similar issues & if the same happens again I can choose a different handset.
I personally would not recommend this phone, never judge this phone for its looks!

The first time the Internet wasn't working, came back UN REPARIED, then a few weeks down the line the keypad went faulty, get again came back UN REPAIRED, now the 3 key has decided to delete everything & cancel things & is now turning the handset off, having had a go at my phone company they are unable to give me a new phone & have had to send it off they promised 5 days but if anything like last time it could be 6 weeks, they said they will send it back if again its faulty they can do this up to the total of 4 times before giving me a different phone, I am getting rather frustrated with this phone, I would save your money & get a decent phone.

I upgraded to the C905 back in November last year, I am now waiting on my 4th handset! The first handset I recieved lasted for about 4 weeks when the no. 4 button stuck. I waited for my 2nd handset & this lasted about 9 weeks when the phone kept freezing & turning itself off. The 3rd handset I have had for just over 2 months & this has been the worst handset to date, arrow buttons are sticking, phone keeps freezing & most of all the phone is resetting itself everyday. I am with 02 & each time I have been told different stories telling me I can exchange after 3 handsets & now they are telling me that its 4 handsets if this phone goes wrong I am able to change to a different phone! I have always had Sony Ericsson & I am really disappointed with the C905! Friends of mine have had this phone & they are already on the 2nd handset. Advise, Do not get this phone!

The speaker has gone 3 times since November (when it 1st came out). Twice I have been given a new phone, & the third time my handset was repaired. This makes no sense to me given that it's the same problem every time, the speaker has gone.
I find it hard to believe that the comments on here that aren't negative aren't from members of staff who work for Sony Ericsson. The fact I have had this problem so many times, with 3 different handsets over a 6 month period cannot be as some have written on here & other review sites a Bad Batch.
I only know of one other person to have brought this phone, & they too have had the same problem as me. I saw she had it (she had brought it 2 days prior to me seeing her with it) & warned her of what was to come. Funnily enough, her speaker was to go, that evening. Again this goes against the idea of a Bad Batch given that she brought it through a different network to me & much later than I received my last handset.
Don't BUY THIS PHONE!

I bought this phone as I have been loyal to Sony Ericsson for some years, I also prefer slider handsets as they are neat. In regards to looks, this phone is in its own league, the camera is great, as expected, the design sleek & handsome.
The problems. After 3 days the microphone went, it was sent back to the manufacturer, came back as a reset with all themes preset apps etc gone. SO I have to search the net to download them again! The microphone went twice more, it's a real pain.
The keypad is the worst I have ever came across, the pad itself is volatile, trying to press for a capital letter in text is impossible when trying to type fast texts, too sensitive or just bad design? Who knows? Very poor design.
The network antenna is poor, this has been since day one, but assured by Orange & O2 their network is fine in my area, true as no problems with any other phones. Find it VERY hard to get & maintain a signal where I would normally have full bars.
I have now put the phone in my drawer & bought a Nokia 5800 on pay as you go so I can get by without the frustration.
I loved the design as I say, couldn't wait for its release yet was so disappointed it's hard to phrase.
I would steer clear of this one. Looks are certainly not everything.

I got this phone on 15th April after ordering online from O2. At first when I got this phone I was really impressed, large bright screen, free 8G memory card, & the camera is outstanding (can't deny this, the camera is a phenomenal bit of kit). The phone was very large & heavy, but given the integrated camera & features this wasn't a shock. I think Sony Ericsson did well with the design, & managed to make what could have been a clunky behemoth into quite an attractive phone. The slide mechanism is a little on the wobbly side though, at times I was genuinely worried it would break. I have used sliders before but this was the most unstable.
Unfortunately cooling off period thought I'd give it another couple of days to see if I could get used to it.
Guess what. The speaker broke! All calls began to sound as if they were taking place in a cement mixer. One day later, while reading a text the phone switched itself off. When I finally got it back on it no longer recognised the SIM. After eventually recognising the SIM it couldn't attach to a network (& never did again). Finally, I attached my charger & was told the phone will not charge & I should be using 'an official Sony Ericsson battery'. Needless to say the phone has gone straight back & I am requesting a different model.
Before I had the iPhone I always used Sony Ericsson phones, my partner uses Sony Ericsson phones & I am really, really disappointed. Hearing quite good things about the W705 so I think I'll give it a try instead.
I should point out that I cannot fault O2. As I am still within 14 days (depressing it died so quickly) they have offered to let me change to a completely new model, no questions asked.

Had my C905 since I upgraded my contract in December. Had initial problems of it freezing when I tried to go on the Internet sometimes (only way to solve it was to take the battery out & put it in again), but wasn't too bothered about that.
Now I really am bothered that the earpiece has gone & I can only talk using the loudspeaker.
Apparently Sony still haven't solved this problem & it seems I am reluctantly joining the bandwagon of people who have taken theirs for repairs to find recurring problems.
It's a real shame, previous phone was a 3.2MP Sony Ericsson that was really bashed about & never had a problem. Avoid this phone if possible!

- Phone 1, the phone would switch off by itelf. The screen would not diply properly.
- Phone 2, camera did not work.
- Phone 3, could not make calls. No problem with sim.

I really looked forward to getting this phone as an upgrade from my K800i. What a disappointment, the phone looks great & to be honest has some nice touches reliability however is not one of them. I am on my second one in six weeks which I have had to send for repair today after only six days of use. The first failed after about three weeks when the screen failed. Off it went for repair & after a week I was given a new (reconditioned) one. Thank you 3 for giving me an older even less reliable one! This one has now failed to the battery running down even after as little as six hours of being fully recharged. I tried all the tips posted on various forums to make sure the battery was conditioned properly which it was. The end result is there is a fault in this phone which is draining the battery at an alarming rate even with Wi-Fi GPS & Bluetooth all turned off. I await the return of a new C905 which to be honest I have become very disillusioned with. I think I will try & cancel my contract or at least maybe get a Samsung Tocco Ultra which appears to be a much more stable performer. This really is a shame as I so wanted to like this phone but there are just too many flaws.

After reading a lot of the reviews on this website, I had serious doubts about upgrading my current Samsung U600 to this phone. But after reading the reviews on my Samsung which got appalling reviews. I thought that maybe the C905 had been painted in a worse picture than it actually was!
The main issues seemed to be the slide mechanism breaking & the infamous speaker failure. The last 3 phones I have had have been slide phones, & I have never had a problem with the slider breaking, & they always feel a little wobbly, that's just something you have to accept! My main issue was the speaker failure as although I don't make a huge amount of calls, when I do, it's nice to hear the person at the other end of the phone! No other phones that are currently available appealed to me, so I thought I'd go into Phones4U & try it out. I asked about the speaker problem, & was told that it was a fault with only certain batches of the earlier produced phones, & they had had lots of returns, but my phone came from a new batch & so far they hadn't had any returns for about 3 weeks. Whether that fact is true, I'll just have to wait & see, but so far my phone is working fine (touch wood)!
I'll start with the bad points about the phone. It is slightly bulky, but as I am a girl & don't carry my phone around in my pocket, this isn't a problem. I have noticed that the camera button isn't raised particularly high, so sometimes gets stuck which can be very irritating when you are trying to take a picture quickly. It would also be nice if there was a reminder to tell you to close the lens shutter when you quit the camera application as this is really easy to forget! I also miss not having the function that cancels whatever application you are running & locks the keypad when you close the phone - but this just takes some getting used to. Other than that, I can't find much wrong with the phone.
Maybe that's just because the software on my Samsung U600 was so awful! I have to mention about the camera. It's AMAZING! Really simple to use & takes brilliant photos, wish there was a way to create folders so I could store the images I use for caller id's somewhere. The menus are really simple to navigate & it's really simple to make shortcuts to the applications you use the most. Texting is so much easier than the Samsung - even simple things like adding words to the dictionary & changing the word to the next one on predictive text! I am not a gadget person, so I don't really make use of the GPS, Google Maps or Wi-Fi but as a phone to make calls, text & take the occasional picture, it is a brilliant phone. I am also surprised at the battery life. Usually the first few days you use a phone, the battery is drained pretty quickly, but it lasted a good 3 days! I think if people that are having problems with battery life, they should turn off the Wi-Fi as this is a big battery drainer!
I am only on a £25 a month contract & managed to get the phone for free, so don't let the sales people talk you into paying for the phone! I've only had the phone for about 2 weeks, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that my phone comes from a no speaker fault batch!

Then the whole of the right buttons, 3, 6, 9 & space all stuck which made it physically impossible to text!

This phone bought as a gift on contract for me as birthday present, decided to add unlimited Internet as forever browsing.
Sony Ericsson phone veteran so really pleased to get hold of this. Initial downside is brilliant camera results in me sending tons of picture messages (adding to monthly bill). Then shock horror 2 months in to 18 month contract centre button has completely gone haywire. Press & all it gives you is phone ring volume, so in effect only use now is for calls, therefore phone not for purpose. As this phone was given to me never had a chance to read these reviews before, till now & only looked to see if there was a quick fix prior to taking phone into shop tomorrow.
As I have said have always loved Sony E's but I think now having read reviews will check out this site prior to any future purchase. Am going to write to Sony to tell them of my disappointment, no doubt their line will be along the lines of. Complaints about this phone equate to 1 % of total sales blah blah blah. But suggest all dissatisfied should do the same.
Oh & thanks for posts outlining which providers are better at giving new handsets out as replacements. Isn't it funny how most have gone wonky just after 28 day period? Keep you posted on service I get as it seems there are some nightmare stories here.

I've had Nokia's for the last 12 years with hardly any problem. When I was due an upgrade I looked at the latest Nokia's & thought they were losing the plot a bit with design & basic necessities so the only other option that suited most of my personal criteria was the C905. What a huge mistake. The texting is still frustrating having been used to the Nokia way, the keys randomly switch when opening the phone, data transfer is clumsy & now the ear piece speaker has packed up which, apparently, is a very, very common fault. Why these companies can't get it right by now beats me. I can't wait to go back to Nokia despite the present tacky appearances etc. Peter (Pablo).

Thank goodness T Mobile let me return the awful G1 I had mistakenly chosen as my upgrade, the choice left to me for a replacement was the Samsung Omnia, or back to Sony Ericsson as my last two phones & opt for a C905. The decision was made for me, the Omnia was withdrawn due to software problems so I now have a C905.
I cannot believe some of the bad reviews this phone has received the few quibbles I have with it are just nit picking. It has every conceivable feature you can get on a mobile, & nearly all of them are fault free.
Loved the build quality, it has a weighty feel to it that makes it feel classy & expensive, & the slide action has a very satisfying clunk as it clicks in to place. The phone is a little thicker than I would like, but suppose that is the price you pay for having a great camera in a mobile phone. & the camera is sublime, sometimes I think that is a camera with a phone built in not a phone with a camera built in, the video is full motion & the latest software has an option to delay a photograph until the subject smiles. & IT ACTUALLY WORKS!
The music player is as good as some of the top MP3 players, & you can access YouTube. Enhanced 3G technology (sometimes called 3.5G) allows for good fast browsing through the hand set, & when I hooked up my laptop to it & used the C905 as a tethered modem I was very impressed with the Internet access I had & ability to stream video.
The Way Finder SatNav, which is a 3 month free trial before you have to buy it isn't great though, it does not track accurately, for the money it costs to buy in after the trial, I would rather go out & buy a dedicated satnav that will certainly work better. It would have been nice if some of the buttons were more customisable but this is more of my nit picking.
I have had the phone six weeks now, & it has performed faultlessly, I loved my last two Sony Ericsson phones, & this one has taken things to a new level. A Real Winner!

I got this phone just before Xmas, a month or so later the earpiece stopped working. Returned it to the shop for it to be sent off to the repair centre. I was given a rubbish courtesy phone & was told that it would take about a week to be returned.
Two weeks later I'd heard nothing so phoned customer services only to be informed that they were still waiting for Sony to send the necessary part (after reading all these reviews I now understand why, they must be getting through a container ship load of earpieces).
FOUR WEEKS & several irate phone calls later I finally get the phone back. Earpiece a bit crackly but to be fair I was just glad to have my nice phone back instead of the sad excuse of a phone they'd palmed me off with for a month!
Today (less than five weeks later) the same problem has occurred. Not a happy bunny! Phoned customer services (using the speaker facility obviously) & demanded a new handset. The man at Vodafone didn't seem surprised by my plight & casually advised me that the phone would need to be sent off for repair again.
Queue one irate customer giving one flustering advisor an angry piece of their mind.
I said in no uncertain terms was this acceptable as the problem would obviously keep occurring & as a customer who spends on average £50 a month I expect to be offered a new handset. WRONG! Phone needs to be mended 3 times before they offer you a new (reconditioned probably) handset.
By this time my work colleague was listening in & laughing his head off at the guy flustering his words & trying to remember his script whilst I was going off on one. Ended up putting the phone down as didn't seem to be achieving anything.
Now I am stuck with this phone from the faulty batch (along with hundreds of other customers) wondering how Sony can get away with selling faulty handsets & not offer refunds or replacements? We have rights! Now I can either head to the nearest Vodafone store & stage a sit in until I get a brand new phone or I claim lost or stolen on my insurance & pay the excess.

For.
- Brilliant camera.
- Nice screen (big & clear).
- Stylish, sturdy design.
Against.
- Battery life pretty much nonexistent.
- Texting was an awful process.
- The short cuts & certain functions were so long winded I found the phone an inconvenience to use.
Glad to have been able to change it. 18 months would have seemed so much longer with the phone. Shame had all the hype but sadly on this occasion don't believe it.

I switched over from a Nokia N82 to this phone mainly for the 8MP camera, its looks & the fact that my friends had told me Sony Ericsson's were good.
How wrong they were about this particular phone.
First handset broke within a month so had it replaced with a new handset.
Second handset worked fine for just over a month, now the networking is done. Calls to me go straight to answer phone so all I get is a text saying you have a message. Text messages also get cued up on the network. Have already changed for new SIM & no better, SIM works fine in old Nokia. Furthermore the phone is crashing all the time.
Will take the phone into O2 & see if I can get a Nokia because I am fed up of this un reliability.

Looking at everyone else's reviews it seems I am not the only person with mixed views on this phone!
The phone is brilliant, I get excellent signal whereas my old Samsung used to go dead, the phone is easy to use & looks stunning. Then there's the camera which has replaced my normal camera for quality & ease of use, although I find the video camera mode struggles sometimes in low light.
BUT for the build quality of this phone, I really can't stand it! The phone feels very cheap, which is not something you expect from a Sony Ericsson! If you just run your fingers over the phone you can notice the sharp edges by the shutter.
- Phone No 1 - From new the slide felt loose & wobbly, which led to the phone cancelling calls whenever the slide was touched. Very irritating when in the middle of a call!
- Phone No 2 - the new replacement was slightly better in regards to the slide, even though still feeling cheap, but within 3 weeks the ear piece speaker went failed, started sounding like a swarm of bees until it decided to completely stop working.
- Phone No 3 - Within 2 hours of my new replacement the speaker went into bee mode again. So I am now waiting for a new replacement.
& all since Xmas! I have never had such a faulty model phone in over 10 years. I'd swap for a different phone, but this is the top of the range camera phone Orange offer!

Features wise, nothing compares, the camera is simply stunning if set up correctly & the speaker is loud & clear. The display is bright & vivid, the screen just big enough. Couldn't ask for any more memory, & the navigation system is as good as any.
The phones menus are clear, easy to understand & a joy to use. Texting is sometimes a little awkward due to the buttons proximity to each other, but you get used to this quite quickly.

The first & most important step with this phone is to debrand it. The operators in the UK cripple a lot of the functions that come with the phone. I debranded mine & the battery life & speed of the phone have both gone up significantly.
To the short points review then.
- the phone is solidly built, responsive & quick to respond.
- It is compatible with Exchange & will synchronise your email quickly & cleanly.
- It has the ability to assign sounds to every contact for ringtones & texts, the only downside to this feature is that it can be awkward to find the first time.
- the phone has clear & loud sound.
- It is solidly built, & can handle a drop (or two).
- the phone uses the Sony connectors, which is a pain if you wanted a standard mini or micro USB connection. The same connector is used for charging & headset, which can also be a pain in the neck if you don't have a Bluetooth headset.
- the display is crystal clear, the system can use Flash movies as the background & as the menu system. The service providers block this feature. Instructions are easily found on the web.
- the camera is everything it is supposed to be, fast, clear, high resolution, high quality, & using a Xenon flash.
- Audio playback is good, I'd give it 4 stars.
- the HSDPA & 3G connectivity is quick & reliable. The GPS function is OK for what it is. In truth I don't use it much.
- the Wi-Fi functionality is quick & recognises all the major forms of security encryption types. I was impressed (& I am a techie).
- the buttons, I like the buttons, but I can see that they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. They can withstand a spill, which is very good, they light up clearly & are easy to press & there is a solid response. They are also a good size.
- the buttons are programmable. The networks (Vodafone, O2, etc) lock these buttons to their own pathetic purposes (like Vodafone Live) but debranding gives you back the power over your own device.
- the vibration is subtle & alerting but not intrusive or irritating. I like it.
Overall the phone is excellent. Don't be deterred by people who had dodgy devices. I got mine in the first few days after it came out in the UK & it has worked perfectly ever since.

Each for a brand new one (not a refurbished handset) if you are within 28 days they legally have to exchange handsets, anything over they should give you a refurbished one. O2 have been great & after my 7th faulty C905 agreed to let me have a different handset, brand new. Despite me being over my 28 days they agreed for me to change to any phone of my choice, I chose the LG Renoir because it has the Wi-Fi & an 8MP camera. The MOST UNRELIABLE PHONE I HAVE EVER HAD! I have always been an Ericsson fan & had my W850i for 3 years with no problems before I decided to upgrade to the C905. BIG MISTAKE!
I bought the first one on a 2 year contract with O2. Worked for 2 weeks before the 1 & 6 keys stuck. No reason for it, they worked one minute then they didn't!
O2 replaced it no problem but since then I have had. Wait for it SIX replacements! (We are talking 7 in 3 months, ridiculous each one has had the same button sticking problem within weeks of opening the box.
Ericsson say it's a software problem but I am not so sure. I only received the latest one last Monday & a week later the middle 'do everything' key has stuck so the phone is unusable.
Luckily O2 has agreed to let me chose another brand of phone but I am disappointed because without this problem the phone itself would be great but the unreliability makes it not worth getting yourself stuck in a contract for. If the phone doesn't even last a week it isn't going to last for a 24 month contract! It's an expensive phone but definitely is NOT fit for purpose.
TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT don't BUY!

I feel this is a poor excuse for a phone, seems it is not useable as a phone 90% of the time. I got this phone in late November 2008 & have had two replacements & one repair in this time. I am now waiting for them to sort out the same problem yet again the SPEAKER has gone faulty & the phone blue screens & goes off. Steer clear of this phone it is big problems.

I took this phone out on a contract three month ago. BIGGEST mistake of my life. This phone is over rated. The Google maps aren't that good my location was completely off from where I was, the Wi-Fi wasn't that good.
To say the camera was 8.1 mp it didn't look any different from their 3.2 mp phones. The screen used to randomly go off & I would have to leave the phone for like 10 minutes before the screen would come back on. I could have turned it off then back on but that would just take longer to load the whole phone up. I would not recommend it for anyone, unless they just wanted to waste some money on one of the worst phones ever. & it comes with a 1GB memory card. But when that card was half way full it used to take the mickey even just to go onto the menu.
I am pleased to say I no longer have this phone anymore=].

I've had this phone since December 8th 2008. Took it out on an 18 month contract with T mobile. BIG MISTAKE.
It first broke on New Year's Eve, earpiece (or flex as I've come to realise is the technical term) went bust. Took it back to the shop & it was sent off. The replaced the flex & everything was OK for about a week or 2. Then the keyboard on it went, the up button & the number 2 button. Was sent away, came back & they'd replaced something to do with the keyboard as well as the flex, it must have gone bust when they were testing it.
Another 2 weeks & the speaker & flex went bust again. Sent it away, came back, within a few hours it had broken again so I was back in the store the next morning. It was sent away AGAIN with notes on the repair form stating this is the third time this has happened. Customer needs a new unit. When it came back again & all they had done was replace the flex.
I instantly told them to send it straight back as I knew what would happen again. I was then informed if they did that the repair centre would just send it straight back again, so I would have to wait until it broke again.
That was at 2pm, & at 5.50pm, ten minutes before the shop closed, the flex went again.
I know this isn't T mobile's fault but as I bought it from there store I would expect them to give me a replacement. Unfortunately have stopped stocking the model in store because of the faults. So I would expect a like 4 like exchange but the poor advisors hands are tied on the matter. There fed up of sending it back for me & I am fed up of using a rubbish spare phone.
T Mobile won't even give me a discount on my contract for loss on Internet use, because it comes free with the package. & they won't take the fact that I bought that package so I got free Internet into account.
I am tied into a contract with a phone that doesn't work & it seems I am going to have to drop the phone into a cup of tea & pay the excess out for a new one on the insurance which isn't ideal but it's that or the constant repair send offs.
One good point is I've built up a brilliant relationship with the store advisors LOL. I think their sick of seeing me. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

I was really suspicious of this phone to start with as there were so many bad reviews, however, after excellent service from the Carphone Warehouse where the staff took their time to show me the different phones on the market, I decided to give the Sony Ericsson C905 a go (upgrading from C902). I am not disappointed, the phone looks great & works great. The camera is to die for & the results are brilliant. I know there were lots of problems with the first batch of C905 phones, but these have now been sorted. I urge you to try this phone for yourself & not be put off by old poor reviews.

Gave it 80% design could look better & feel better in my opinion bearing in mind the price tag.
Gave it 30% for its features, GPS is unreliable, redeye doesn't work sometimes. Reception is very poor.
Gave usability 5%, had the phone less than 3 months & guess what? I can't hear other people when I call them. The earpiece isn't working anymore. If Sony do not sort it I will resort to taking them to court I think. Are they ripping people off selling them rubbish unreliable phones with obvious faults on them? I have contacted BBC's watchdog about the phone just waiting for a reply. All I can say is AVOID THIS Sony PHONE!

This should be a great phone but has been a huge let down. I am on my third C905 in just over a month, & all seem to have the same problems. First one started crashing, & also the down button stopped working within a week. Second one was also freezing & crashing all the time & the only way to switch it off was to take off the back & remove the battery.
The one I currently have has lasted 2 weeks & so far has started freezing & crashing. The slide also seems to be quite loose & I am not convinced it'll last long either. The camera is fantastic, but mine crashes when you try to save your pictures & videos so not ideal.
Like most people have said, batter life isn't great, I have to charge it at least once a day otherwise the battery will die by the time I get home.

Problem.
- Handset 1 - Speaker broke. Had to make calls on loud speaker.
- Handset 2 - Software Issue. Black screen nothing appears.
- Handset 3 - Screen mashed! Random colours appear & multicoloured lines over screen.
My handset is from 3 & it is completely useless! But sounds like everyone is having same problems, going back to the store tomorrow to demand a different handset. Go back to reliable old Nokia's!

My last phone was a Nokia N73 & I do sorely miss the logic & many additional functions that my old phone had.
This phone is all about pretty icons, wallpapers silly games & is not really a phone for use in any kind of work environment.
I avoided the Nokia N96 because the retailer told me the same as the forums, the N96 is very unreliable (most returned phone ever). Hence I got the C905.
I guess I will get used to it but it was a poor choice having come from a Smartphone.

Do not buy this phone, I've had mine since December 2008, the common problem of the ear piece failing in the handset occurred after approximately 6 weeks of use. It took two weeks to be repaired & then after another six weeks guess what it's gone again. Great that's another two weeks for repair & by my calculations that's a month's tariff wasted out of just three months.
The phone itself is fine, camera is great, if you can tolerate getting it repaired every six weeks this is the phone for you!
You must be crazy if you buy this phone, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY.

I agree the camera is fantastic but as a phone its useless even before today's problems it was constantly freezing up, & just lost signal when it felt like it & without doubt the worse phone I have ever tried to text on.
Now being only 3 months into an 18 month contract I am stuck with this lemon of a phone, but to be fair to Orange although they would not let me change my handset they said they would send a replacement phone out for delivery this evening with no question at all & assured me the new software on phone would solve all my issues. I have this phone since November last year! The phone was working fine until now when I slide phone open my screen started displaying random colours & after a started going black. I would receive calls but not know who was calling.
I took it back to the O2 shop & they said that it will be fine so they repair the phone & download the software.
Pick up my phone turn it off & on then when you slide the phone open again it would just show nothing, a black screen & random colour. Same problems still occur even they have download the software.
I rang O2 they say it might be my SIM is too old! What a lot of rubbish. They are going to send me a brand new SIM to insert on the phone & told me that my phone should be fine after that. I told them that I already got a different SIM card on that phone.
If that don't work my phone will be off to repair again! If the problems still occur I will get a replacement phone!

I went on holiday, & it wouldn't pick up network, then came back went to Carphone Warehouse to get replacement as when I got back I still couldn't pick up any network, it was like getting blood out of a stone, they would only replace it with the box! So I had to go back & get the box.
The new one I have had for a month, & I am having the same problem with not hearing anything unless I put it on speakerphone. Also a couple weeks ago when the battery died I couldn't charge it back up until a day or so later!
I've had a few Sony Ericsson's over the years & have always loved their phones, but have to say this is the worst phone I've had to date, I love the camera, but the phone itself is a big disappointment.

I have this phone for at least 3 months & had NO problems with it at all, You all mention that you have had problems with speakers & had to send back to a certain dealer shop for repair.
Well mine is from the 3 network & as mentioned above I have NO problems to report.
Compared to the Nokia N96 (this is what I intended to get) it is miles ahead on build quality.
My friend has a N96 only 6 weeks old & already the slide has started to become very loose. I love everything about the C905 the camera is magical & Internet with the 3 network is faultless. I had concerns about taking a 3 contract as I was previously with O2 but I don't think I will leave 3 now, service is spot on & reception is 100% at all times, (I do travel a lot around the country so I need go reception).
Anyway back to the C905, It is, in my opinion, a great phone & I must admit I am a bit suspicious that you all mention the same dealer that you have took it back to for repair,
once again all I can say is mine is from another dealer & I've had NO problems. Enough said I think.

Don't touch this phone with a barge pole! We have 6 phones on a contract with O2 & every single one of these phones has had to be replaced at least once & some more than once. This is due to the speaker fault as mentioned by a lot of the reviews on this site.
This seems to be an inherent manufacturers fault.
If they sorted this fault out then I would be happy with the phone but when so many are faulted then you need to change your phone.
Even the delivery driver who picks up & delivers the replacements said he was making a good living from so many of the C905 phones being faulty.

After much reviewing of this phone I took the leap & bought it a week ago. I know there has been some worrying reviews on the phone freezing & locking up. But I am safe to say touch wood! That my phone has been FINE! I haven't had any problems at all.
The camera is excellent, very quick (I had the Samsung G600 last & it was extremely slow at taking pictures). The quality is great & I have definitely enjoyed using it for the camera function. Also reviewing pictures is so quick & easy.
The feel of the phone is great, although a little bulky. This isn't a problem for me as I keep it in my bag. But for someone who carries their phone in their pocket. Might find it quite heavy. Texture of phone cover is nice. & overall quality of the design is to a very high finish.
A few negative points.
- When texting, it is a little difficult to use the 3, 6 & 9 keys as the edge surround of the slide is just that little too high. Something I am getting used to though & sure it'll be fine in a couple of weeks!
- I have found a slight problem when saving photos to contacts. The photo came up fine to begin with when I got a text or a call however, has recently stopped working. Can't quite figure this out yet why it's suddenly happened. If anyone has any ideas? answers?
I've deleted picture, contact & re added. Still not working.
Everything else is great! Very neat & tidy phone, I'd recommend to anyone.

AWFUL, DO NOT BUY. After receiving this phone as an upgrade, this would be one of the worst handsets I have ever had. Within the space of one week I had to replace it because of the C key wasn't working properly. Then on receiving my new C905 the same thing happened during that same day, as I thought this was just a tiny fault I sent this one back & asked for ANOTHER replacement. Now this one wasn't as bad however after 1 month of use the C key & the dialling key both stopped working, it was as if there was nothing behind the little plastic button.
Furious, I called my phone company & they were reluctant to change the make & model of my handset, however they did eventually do it & my new phone (BlackBerry Bold 9000 is the best phone I have ever had & will hopefully use it for a much longer period of time than I did the last.

The combination of the Sony Ericsson C905 & Vodafone are a disgrace. I experienced the same speaker problem on my 7 week old C905 as many others but on returning the phone to the Vodafone store I was told, that I would have to buy another phone if I wanted to receive calls while my phone was repaired.
The manager of the store tried to contact customer services at Vodafone, but kept getting cut off & then we were told no managers were available to discuss. He also took great delight in telling me that only 6.5% of C905's fail & then said, he has experience of the same phone having to go back multiple times for the same failure.
The phone is now with Vodafone & I am awaiting papers from the small claims court to take action against Vodafone for the cost of a replacement phone.

Great phone, I absolutely love it & only hope that some of the problems mentioned on this site do not materialise. I have had it one month & no problems at all.
The phone is great, although anti redeye does not work in this mode is common, so it looks like all my family & friends are vampires in many photos. Anyone got any tips to stop this? That said, the quality of photos are great, more than adequate for my needs & takes the place of my camera.
Battery life is not phenomenal, but then talking to mates with iPhones etc. It seems to be better than theirs if anything.
The main thing for me is the aesthetic qualities, it looks sharp & classy. If you like your slim & tiny phones forget it, as a 30 something guy, I reckon I am probably somewhere near the target market, it fits comfortably into the mobile phone pocket that many suit jackets have these days, & I love the fact that it is a solid, substantial phone with something of a timeless quality to the design. The matt black rubberised finish is great & when the lens cover is down it looks super sharp (no need to go into the menu, just pull it down & you are away).
I like the interface & usability of Sony Ericsson phones, & this is the same, great to use, very user friendly.
The lack of video phone on the front means nothing to me because it is not a feature I would use.
I am also pleased to say that I got this phone on the Flext 35 tariff with T mobile with free Internet, for £31.50 with £200 of calls & texts, chuffed to bits.
Speaking of wireless, the wireless facility seems very fast, & the 3G connection isn't bad either.
If you are due an upgrade, I don't think you could do much better. From my experience the problems above seem to have been ironed out, perhaps it was a problem with the first batch?

Got this phone after a long wait for Sony to bring out another camera phone with full camera features & a proper xenon flash not a rubbish LED, needed to be an upgrade from my trusty k800i (still going after 2 years! I got it through 3 when it came out with them in November last year, I've just had a bill with 95 quid extra on it for multimedia messages as anything over a group send of 6 & the phone converts the messages to MMS! 3 have credited the money as it's a known fault & Sony are working on a software update to fix it, just have to make sure I don't text more than 6 people at once. As with a couple of other people my screen has started playing up going into techni colour like I've been using photoshop on the images! Also screen black out so don't know who's calling etc, known problem apparently & 3 are sending it back for repair when I take it in this wk end.
Overall awesome phone, few teething problems but not as bad as Nokia's or LG's but also looking like it's not going to be bullet proof as my old k800i, but the features & quality of the camera etc by far outweigh the problems, 9 out of 10, would be 10 if was as reliable as my k800i was.

Only managed to get phone back to shop after 30 days, 2 days out of automatic replacement period! Was told they would send it away for repair. Repeated chase up phone calls later, was told they were waiting for replacement speaker parts. I eventually got phone back 6 weeks later. Tested it out, had exactly the same fault! How could they have sent it back after 6 weeks with exactly the same fault. Do they not test them before sending them back out. Was then told by manager of Orange Shop that they had probably replaced the Speaker when it should have been the Microphone, who am I to argue with this? I told them what was wrong with it, they wrote this on the repair sheet, how could they not get this right. I am now waiting for someone to get back to me as I have refused to have it sent away again, have insisted that I want a replacement phone. Not had this phone very long but as first impressions go it's pretty good. It has loads of functions, easy to use & much easier than the older K800i model to set up & go. I've found a few little things a bit irritating which are.
- the slider only locks the phone if you exit all applications first. If you are still in an application, the phone remains unlocked.
- the keypad is hard to use for texting. It's difficult to judge where the letters are as all the keys merge across each row.
- & worst of all, I have very little skin left on my little finger because the hook for the wrist strap is where it would naturally sit when I am texting! It's tiny but it's really quite sharp!
All minor things, but so far so good. Camera is excellent, love the new features in the entertainment menu.

The top ear piece keeps breaking I.e. You can only hear people talking if you have them on speaker phone. In addition, the keys are always stiff & makes texting very difficult indeed, sometimes having to press one button 3 times or more to get a result. I am hoping to get a replacement phone from a different brand altogether from the Carphone Warehouse. Sad as I always thought Sony Ericsson's as being reliable in the past, particularly the W800i & K800i. Very disappointing indeed.

Lovely looking phone BUT it has a feature that I would call a fault. When you send a group text or a SMS that is longer than 1 text it automatically sends it as an MMS.
I have phoned Orange who have been in touch with Ericsson & they are still negotiating what to do about it. Orange refunded me all the texts which had gone out as MMS in error.
For me it is useless as I do a lot of texting & have limitless texts but not MMS texts! Beware.

On my fifth C905 since purchasing on the 16th December each time the ear piece has gone, I am now one day out of 30 day immediate exchange with Carphone Warehouse & guess what, yes the earpiece has just failed!
Only plus point is that I have read holding down the c key when making a call makes the ear piece work again, it does work but for how long & do I really want to do it every time I call someone, not really! I have however decided to ring T mobile tomorrow & refuse to pay any bill until they send me a different make phone? See how that pans out shall we!

I loved this phone when I got it. Yet within weeks it broke. Kept cutting off my calls. At first carphone refused to take it back as it was an intermittent problem & they couldn't see it. Eventually my mum took it back & got it exchanged. 2nd phone broke after a week or so. Top speaker went. So they sent it off for repair & they couldn't repair it, yet when I rang up to find out where it was they told me it had been signed out! I went down & they gave me a new phone. I have had this day & guess what. It's broke again! '! I am hoping to take it back & get a complete different phone, but being on contract I don't know whether I will be able to. I am, happy with the contract just this phone is awful!

Had the phone for over 2 weeks & love it, had no problems or quibbles with earpiece, slider or keypad like others have. Does everything I want & more with ease of use, unlike my disastrous Nokia N95 which I never warmed to & its endless faults. On the downside which is minor, it would be useful to adjust the light timeout & when closing the slider it would cancel out open apps & lock the phone. Also why don't Sony have £'s & & signs in the text menu, they never have done. The most frustrating thing at the moment though is that I can't get my phone to connect to my laptop via the supplied Sony Media Manager software. It will connect to the PC Suite but switch it over to Media, nothing. Made one call to Sony for help but to no avail, going to have to make another call, had no problems with the Nokia connection!

This is a lovely phone bit difficult to text on as I have long nails made my thumb a bit sore. Pictures well! What can I say there fabulously crystal clear when loaded on the computer software for loading to the computer is very easy to use loads them automatically if you tick that option. Phone for pictures is like a digital camera brilliant shortcut buttons on this model. The only downfall I have found is a very big disappointment it has no code key guard! It has SIM code protection & also phone code protection (when phone turned on it asks for your personal code).

I've had this phone since the 31st January & so far, I am very impressed. However, I am already on my second mobile. On the first, the 6 key became jammed & wouldn't push down which I believe a few people have suffered from. However, I haven't had a problem with the speaker as of yet. On my first phone, the slide seemed very wobbly although the second phone seems to be a lot sturdier.
I think the phone is pretty decent in terms of features although I don't think the design is that great. As a person who texts a lot, I think the keypad is a little hard to use although I am pleased with the overall look of the phone.

I have had this phone for about 2 months now, got it when it first came out & have been very impressed with it. The camera quality at 8.1 is amazing, although it uses too much space on the memory card to take all my photos in 8.1, have switched it back to 5 now & switch it to 8.1 for important photos. The other features such as sat nav are amazing as well, have used it a few times now & again it has been faultless.
A couple of days ago however, my screen started displaying random colours & after a few hours started going black. I would receive calls but not know who was calling etc, have spoke to Orange & am getting a replacement handset, probably a faulty graphics card type of thing I think?
However, I would strongly recommend people to buy this phone, especially if they like to take pictures constantly! Much better than any Nokia out there!

My boyfriend purchased this phone about a week ago & it worked for about half an hour before it started going wrong. First of all it wouldn't charge properly & because of this we thought that is why it had started turning itself off & restarted.
Also he would be in the middle of sending a text message & it would crash & the only way you could get it to work again was to take the battery out & put it back in & then turn it on, It would all be fine until it showed the screen saver & then went on to standby, When you slide the phone open again it would just show nothing, a black screen. Its rubbish, we took it back to the shop & they said that it will be fine, & that we just needed to download a patch from Sony's website, we did this & it just got worse.
Same as everyone else by the sounds of it.

At first I was amazed, everything on it does as it says. I like the design, it's not too fancy but it's nice looking, even if it is a little on the large side.
The only things that annoyed me at first.
- Slide doesn't cancel everything so if I shut it down quick I can still press navigation keys which is hazardous if you're in the middle of a text or call someone from your pocket.
- When I get a text it comes up with the first line of text. Not sure if there's a way to change this but it can be annoying if you get a text while demonstrating or if your phone is lying around.
These were my only real issues. Nothing major until.
My phone constantly says No Network Coverage, it can't possibly be out of signal when my boss who is also on T-Mobile is stood right next to me & has never dropped a signal on his Nokia. It does this all day every day & is highly annoying.
My speaker has just died. I made a call this evening, within half an hour I went to make another call & could hear nothing. I have checked loads of reviews & it seems it is a very common issue with the phone : ( I am only a couple of days over my 28 day policy & do NOT want a refurbished phone. If a brand new phone can break so easily then so will a refurbished one. Boo!
(A little trick, if you hold down the c button while on a call, the speaker may work for a little while but it is only a short term fix, but at least everyone won't be hearing your conversation).
Overall, I did love this phone when I got it a month ago, but reading reviews I am getting more & more disappointed.

Have had to send my phone back. Was lucky if I got two days out of the battery after minimal use. Not impressed at all! Texting is quite awkward due to the flush keypad. Have found that using two fingers speeds things up a little. I can't comment on the Internet features as I only use the phone for calls, texts & taking pictures. Found it strange that the only games are demos, never had this before on a phone. The only decent thing going for it is the camera, except for the dodgy lens cover that has already got a dent in it, far to flimsy for my liking.

My partner & I first got this phone in October 2008, our first impressions were fantastic, 8.1MP camera, software excellent, all our needs met by one phone? Yes. For around 2 weeks.
Problems started with my partner's phone. The number 3 & C buttons just stopped working. It was sent back to 02 for repair, (who commented they were having huge return rates for the C905). 02 gave my partner a new phone. As of yet, mine had YET to develop any faults or problems.
Then my C905 started to become highly problematic, the down key, the C function, the 3 button. All stopped working. One week later, my partner has the same problem. The small silver square beneath the camera gets stuck & won't come out after closing the camera cover. When using quick search on the phonebook, I.e. Press 4 once to get to G in contacts, it takes me to I (software problem or key problem!? ) Began not to register my battery as an official Sony Ericsson battery & refused to charge, ear speaker packed in. Can't hear when on the phone unless I put the phone into loudspeaker mode. & the phone switches itself on & off.
I am disgusted with this phone. Even the N95 wasn't as problematic as this!

I have been pleased with the C905 since I got it & I haven't really had any problems with it. The photos are top notch & regardless of what reviews have said about the video quality, it's the best I've seen on a mobile & as good as I hoped for. Theres only 2 issues I have with the C905. The slider on it is a tad loose & I know that most other people have said the same thing about it. I compared it with another slider phone & it's certainly loose in comparison & not as tight even when closed. The phone rattles a little when closed due to the loose slider. However, it's not a big problem & it still works. The other issue is the keypad. It's hard to get used to & often I get the wrong letter on the screen. I think it's just because it's so different from my previous phone & I'll get used to it. I've had no problem with the little hook at the bottom of the phone when texting that people seem to have an issue with. It's hardly there at all! All in all it's a good phone & it's got all the things you need.

I had this phone on a contract at the end of October & by the end of the first week in November I called someone & could not hear what they were saying. I took it back to the Carphone Warehouse & they replaced it because I had it within 28 days. I took it home & 3 days later the same thing happened again. So I took it back for the second time & the man assured me that they had no other problems with it & I was just unlucky receiving two handsets that were bad. So the third phone I had for about 2 weeks & the same thing happened again. I loved this phone it was great but I returned again & I said I wasn't happy at all as I was paying a contract when I couldn't even phone anyone at all. The man said the earpiece was probably dodgy but as I was out with the 28 days he couldn't replace it & I would have to send it away for repair. It would take around 14 days. He didn't have any replacement handsets for me which wasn't good so I just gave up with this phone & got a Samsung! After a short time of being told I was on a contract & couldn't get a different handset, & he admitted now that around 50 people has brought back their Sony Ericsson c905 because of a faulty earpiece! So I would advise not to get this phone!

I was always a fan of Sony Ericsson, & just the other day bought a Samsung U900. Because of the low ring volume I went back to a Sony Ericsson. C905 is twice the price (almost) as a U900, & although the C905 is generally good, it has some big disappointments especially for the price. The first disappointment is that the camera for video calls is at the back of the phone which is totally useless. So, if you make a video call you will not be able to see each other at the same time. The other disappointment is the modem function. This can only be used in my case if you switch of the 3G phone function. U900 was much better here. The last disappointment was with obtaining the settings for the phone on the Internet. Sony Ericsson tells you on their site that they will sms this to you. I tried this by using various (countries) sites, but until now I did not receive any settings. Obviously this service doesn't seem to work, I hope Sony Ericsson will improve on this.

I spoke to Vodafone who say yes it is a fault with the c905 but because I was a day outside the 14 day exchange warranty I would have to send the phone away for repair, they told me my phone would be back by 8th January but I think it won't due to amount of people sending their c905's away for repair I am thinking yet again this is just another k850i failure phone.

'During the process of repairing your Sony Ericsson C905, we have identified the part required to fix your C905 is temporarily out of stock, when the part arrives, usually within 10 days, we will continue with the repair & you should receive your C905 shortly afterwards. We apologise for the delay, we should have you back up & running again soon.
It is interesting to read that Di Bostock of Cheshire has also had to send one back because of ear speaker packing up, that was the same problem as both C905's that I had to send back.

I recently got in a bit of bother when someone stood on it when it was on the floor in my bag, & it left a tiny crack on the speaker that you hear calls in. It made no difference until about 2 weeks later I stopped hearing people when they were calling me. I got in a lot of trouble & got blamed for it. But now I have read these reviews & have found out that it didn't have anything to do with the crack. I didn't think it had to be honest. I love this phone, it's just brilliant. I like the way that the phone has absolutely loads on it but it doesn't make you feel like it's too crammed with stuff as the navigation through the screens is really easy.
I've been with Nokia for about 7 years now & would have never thought I'd move to anyone else but with Nokia screens getting harder to follow & the bulkiness of their phones nowadays I thought I'd need a change. The Sony Ericsson C905 is better than Nokia phones I think, without question.
Texting doesn't appear to be as hard as people on here seem to think. I have no trouble with the piece at the bottom of the phone at all, & have no problem with buttons. I just think it's amazing.

I am a bit concerned now. This is the second C905 I have had. The first I had to return to Orange after a little over a week because it suddenly started playing up, I couldn't hear anything when I rang someone. The only way I could hear other people was to turn the speaker on.
I received a brand new phone from Orange as a replacement. However, the brand new phone has just developed exactly the same fault. Hence the 50% usability. The problem is that I have had the new phone for over 28 days, & so I would not receive a new phone if returned to Orange. Instead I would receive a reconditioned phone. Obviously this is unacceptable, especially as I had to pay £129 up front to get the phone! I don't relish the thought of having to get a new phone every month for the next 16 months of my contract should the same fault develop! I also don't like the thought of having to put up with a reconditioned phone (covered with scratches due to the previous person having their keys in the same pocket as their phone! ).
I have phoned Orange & asked for Sony Ericsson's support number. I will be phoning them on Monday.
Apart from this problem, the phone has been a dream to use. I will update this when I speak to the Sony Ericsson customer support.

I used to have a Samsung D900, & the Sony Ericsson C905 puts it to shame! I LOVE IT! The Camera is absolutely amazing! I don't use my digital camera anymore because my phone is so good!
When I got the phone I was hoping that it would be good with music, because I love my music!
The sound on this phone is 100 x better than on my Samsung phone, it is really clear!
But there is only one thing bad that has happened with it since I have had it. Which is that it has frozen twice, where the screen goes black & it takes about 5mins to go back to normal, I don't know what caused this, but if it happens to this phone, then all I can say is just leave it & it will unfreeze.
But all in all I absolutely love this phone, I would definitely recommend this phone, it's amazing!
I have read that people have problems with the little thing on the bottom of the phone when they're texting, but I haven't had any problems with that, it has been fine! But it is quite sharp though!
I haven't used geo tagging yet because you need the Internet on your phone for it & my contract doesn't include that! But I will try it out soon!

The only bad things for me are.
- the screen has gone pitch black & you can just figure out what is in the background & the only way I seem to be able to fix this problem is by turning the phone of & on again.
- It mainly says No Network Coverage which is annoying as I am a 16 year old that loves to ring & text his friends.

I have had this phone for about a month now & am completely happy with its features, such as Camera (amazing), music player (although could do with updating maybe!? ). The slide on my phone seems sturdy & smooth & the design of the handset is a good, solid one. The complaints I have on the other hand far out way the good points. The speaker for instance, has decided to stop working all together unless on speaker function or hands-free. This basically means I can't put the phone to my ear & hear what people are saying, a complaint which seems quite common with this model. Also when I turn the phone off, in order to turn it back on again I have to remove the battery & replace it. The keypad lets the design of the phone down a little, being difficult & fiddly to press when texting. All in all it's a brilliant phone with a brilliant camera. Until it all STOPS WORKING!

Google image HPM-62 to see the headset provided with this phone. If you like listening to music as well as taking pictures you should know that these earphones are seriously low quality & uncomfortable compared to other brands. So even if they say you get the same quality as with the Walkman range, this is not true.
The buttons are laid out to encourage you to spend your money on the web, not to save you time. They are too close together & you need nails to prevent you from accidentally pressing the wrong one.
The camera is well designed though.

I had this phone for just one week & had to return it. The worst phone I have ever had! I hated the size & weight of it, this really is a huge mobile but it's not until you start to carry it around in your pocket that you appreciate the sheer size of it.
I wasn't struck on the design either. It has a very utilitarian look to it, nothing fancy just a block with buttons stuck to it. That was also a problem for me, I found that having two rows of three buttons either side of the navigational keys was just a confusing waste of time. When texting, one button deleted what you were writing, one button completed exited what you were doing & the other button (on my phone anyway) activated Vodafone live. This was really frustrating as the three buttons are so small & close together it was easy to hit the wrong one. I also did not like the keypad. It looks OK (when you can see it, it only lights up briefly & literally for a second or two only) but it is made of one piece of sturdy plastic with the buttons just slightly raised blisters. You'll really have to look at one to know what I mean, but texting on this phone was horrendous. The buttons were so hard to press & unresponsive that it drove me around the bend. Also, one small thing that really was the last straw was that Sony Ericsson have place a small metal hoop on the bottom left corner of the phone, presumably so you can attach it to something to wear around your neck? ! Whatever it is for, it is poorly sited & the one on mine was sharp. It cut into my finger as I tried to text one handed (my little finger rested upon it as I tried to balance the mighty weight of the thing). The sat nav function is really poor too. I tried it on a few occasions & found that it was so inaccurate it actually thought I was in a tree three roads away from where I was stood. Hardly worth using it if it is that far out! It's not all bad though, the camera was absolutely amazing! & the screen is beautiful. The flash works extremely well & the pictures this thing produces are easily a match for a full blown camera.
Overall I would say this is a very good camera capable of making & receiving calls & texts. If that is what you are looking for, it is perfect. I wanted a really good phone that could take adequate photos & in this situation it falls way short of my expectations! I have since moved onto a Samsung Pixon & even though it is touch screen it is far easy to operate & far more responsive than this phone. The Pixon is exactly what I want a phone for, sending thousands of texts, making one or two calls, playing with it when I am bored & taking photo's on a night out. Perfect!

Now on my second handset after returning the second of two phones received for my wife & myself for a wobbling slider, the first handset was fairly solid but the replacement has a rock solid slider. Dave & Leah (wrote on 17th Nov) I spoke to Sony Ericsson technical support who advised me to immediately reject mine back to the supplier as the phone slider should be solid, which I had already suspected as the first handset was OK, sorry but it looks like you both have dodgy ones.
Having upgraded from the K800i which had a pretty impressive camera I can only say that the camera on this is nothing short of awesome when you consider it is actually a phone & not a specialist camera, features are easy to set & results are displayed brilliantly on the superb screen. Size & weight are very similar to the K800i & my replacement handset has a very solid feel & is comfortable in the hand.
Sony Ericsson have maintained the same menu paths for all common functionality from my previous handset making the transition very easy & all new features are intuitive & work well including Wi-Fi connectivity. The Media function is very user friendly & makes navigating picture albums quick.
On the downside, on shutting the slider the phone continues in the mode in which you were operating, previous sliders I have had automatically cancelled the option you were using & locked the keypad. I also had a problem with connection to my network (O2) for both calls & texts having poor or no network signal, I have found that by switching off 3G in mobile networks seems to have cured the problem.
Only other issue I have had is with the phone supplier. Difficult to contact when things go wrong & you have to jump through hoops to meet the terms & conditions for exchange handset & reclaiming postage costs. As this is no fault of the handset I can only say I would definitely recommend it but make sure you get a solid one & if you don't send it back.

For all you who are complaining when texting, about the little metal hook at bottom of phone, all I can say is finally us left handed people have something designed for us, it's nowhere near my fingers when texting!
I had this phone for 2 weeks now & think it's great, so many features & what can I say about the camera, I am off to New York in two weeks & ill be leaving my Sony digital camera at home & just using my C905! Mines in black which looks awesome! Well done Sony!
Two bad points though, battery not that good, & all games are demos which is a first for me! But I have downloaded a few & they are brilliant to play! Definitely recommend, enjoy!

Having upgraded from an old Samsung D900 this is some phone to replace it with. Obviously as many have said it has an amazing camera, so much so that I am selling my digital camera as this is enough! Camera is very easy to use as well. Signal is good, as is call quality, voice clarity & speakerphone. Internet is quite fast.
If I could adjust a few things with the phone it would be the following.
- Both the shutter for the camera & the slide mechanism could be slightly firmer, they're not lose by any means but maybe over time this will happen.
- Would be nice to have a sleeping clock when phone is closed so you don't have to press the side button each time you want to check time or to see if you have a message.
- Little metal hook at bottom can aggravate finger when texting, although you get used to repositioning finger(s) slightly after short while.
- Buttons are a tad stiff, texting is a bit more of an effort than I've been used to.
- Battery life is pretty good but not as great as advertised.
- Have to press 2 buttons to use speed dial, have been used to just holding down a number for it to ring (bit quicker).
These are only minor faults, I would recommend this phone to anyone.

After nearly ten years of Sony Ericsson phones I thought I had found the Holy Grail of phones with the C905. The spec sheet had me drooling & I pestered Vodafone for an early upgrade & got the phone for free!
Well for starters, the build quality is not a patch on my old W910i. The slider does not have the same solid feel & the keypad is the worst slippery shiny poor excuse for a keypad I've ever had in a phone. It's plain awful for texting. On the flip side (literally), the camera is excellent for a phone. The images are as you would expect from an 8.1MP beast & when in camera mode, many of the phone keys turn into quick access keys for the camera settings making it so easy & fast to change settings. You also activate the camera from standby by sliding the brushed stainless steel lens cover open, ready to snap away in 2 seconds flat. Blissful. However, the very poor positioning of the camera light meter can lead to straying fingertips interfering with accurate light measurement which results in over exposed images. Just be careful how you hold it & you'll be fine. The night time pictures I took with the xenon flash are the best I've ever taken with any camera. Superb. Call quality is excellent & menus easy to navigate without reading instructions (maybe due to the fact that it's almost identical to the W910i).
Some of the applications were fiddly with the relatively (these days) small screen & the GPS drank battery juice for fun. If you're not using Bluetooth or 3G then disable them or your battery will probably not last the day. Google maps impressive but again the small screen means it's hard to see the map details. The excellent camera was sadly not enough of a reason to keep the phone & I've sold it on to try pastures new. The thickness of the phone at 18mm & the hefty weight at 136g made it feel like a brick in my shirt pocket after a year of having the slender & light W910i.
My priorities are messaging web & email (& phone calls! ), so I am chancing my arm with the HTC Touch Diamond at 11.5mm thin & 110g.

I was really chuffed with this phone. It really is feature packed & easy to use. It looks good for a big phone.
One large downside I can see is the video calling feature, you have to turn the phone around to use the main camera, so you cannot view the screen at the same time.
Pointless having video calling if you can't see each other really.
My old Sony had a small camera on the front of the phone for this, I can't see why Sony took that away.

anyone else having this problem don't know if is poor design or I have got a dodgy one.

This phone is much better than the Nokia N95 which I had this phone since October last year not so long after it came out, & I am now on my 6th handset, after sending it off due to almost countless faults.
Three times now has the screen broken in my pocket, deeming the phone unusable unless I connect it up to my TV, & three times also have the speakers gone. When making a call, I know I should be able to hear the person on the other end, but I couldn't tell you for sure as all I can hear is crackling on the other end. The speaker is currently broken, but I just can't bring myself to send it back only for it to break again. I also experience the popular cutting off of calls, loss of signal, screen freezing etc & really this is just the worst phone I have ever had.
THIS IS SUPER YOU CAN DO ANYTHING ON IT EASILY & ALSO YOU GOT 8.1 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA WHICH IS WONDERFUL.

I had this phone bought it on pay as you go for £350 & put my contract SIM in it. Love this phone, it is a proper classy looking phone.
Good.
- Layout.
- Screen Size.
- CAMERA!
Bad.
- the battery life is not what is stated, whether mines faulty. I am charging mine EVERYDAY. When I went to sleep at 11 o clock last night I had 24% battery. I woke up this morning to a completely dead battery, the standby time is meant to be really good as well.
- Also the slide to me seems a little wobbly, it's not dead sturdy. Anyone else find this?
Love the phone though, I wanted to be different & have the gold one. LOVE IT.

I have just signed up for an 18 month contract on Orange with the Ice Silver C905. Stunning looking phone, love the design. It is quite heavy though.
The camera is great, so I would recommend it for this. My last three phones have been Sony Ericsson & this is another great phone. The one issue I am having is texting. It is really difficult to text, the buttons are so flat & difficult to press. My fingers always ache. I know it takes a while to get used to a new phone but I think this is just going to be difficult to use.
The games that come with the phone are only demos though so you have to purchase them if you want to continue to use them! Never had this with any other phone.
I would recommend this phone if you love taking pictures, videos, & to impress your friends. For practicality I am not sure.

Got my C905 on Sunday & haven't been able to put it down, it is an amazing phone! The 8.1 megapixel camera takes better pictures than my digital camera! So much better than my old K810i which in my opinion was a waste of money, as only had it 3 months & the buttons stopped working. This phone is the best I have had since my beloved Sharp GX10.
Looks great in silver & bronze but the black is stunning. I have had lots of comments about it. The only bad thing about it is the little bit of metal on the bottom left side that digs into your little finger when texting but apart from that I give this phone 11 out 10!

Great phone, but it's not perfect.
You all know what's good about it, but what's bad?
- the lanyard hook hurts my little finger when texting.
- Texting in general is fiddly, & I find it best to use two hands.
- No today screen so you can view imminent calendar events at a glance.
- The screen timeout is very short, & not configurable.
- The manual is dire. Did you hear me Sony Ericsson, the manual is absolutely dire! It's poor! Poor!
- The Exchange sync frequency only goes as low as 1 hour, without having GPRS permanently connected.
- The default option on the big button (technical term) when selecting a contact is send message'. Why can't it be Call?
Did I mention that the manual is awful?

I would have given a lot higher except the first edition of this phone had a terrible battery life, as in 5 minute phone call & that would wipe out most of the battery. So. Next version later, I can't even get the battery cover off which is so frustrating because I know what loveliness awaits me post battery & SIM insertion. I am going to keep trying the battery cover, if anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it.

I got this phone just less than a week ago. I've previously had Samsung phones but had various problems & decided to try Sony. Only things from Samsung I would prefer on this phone is whatever menu you're in & slide the phone down it cancels everything & locks the keys & the other is having the text message alert tone on reminder in case you don't hear it the first time.
Also on my boyfriend's old Sony Ericsson where he has a picture stored & it appears when he receives a text as well as a call however this only does that for calls.
I think this phone is brilliant & would recommend it to anyone, the camera is absolutely spot on.

Average ratings as I've not got the handset yet (DHL should be delivering it tomorrow or Tuesday) so I have no intention of banging on about how great it is before I've even had a good fiddle about on it!
Just a simple couple of questions to anyone who already has this phone.
- Does it have the same size battery as the k800i & k810i?
- Do all handsets regardless of what network they on come pre loaded with Need for speed ProStreet & the 2 gig memory card?

Firstly, Craig, you can use your own headphones if you buy a Sony pair which have the standard socket for you to plug in your Senhieisers, I have been doing this for years With all my Sony Ericsson phones.
Love the Camera, really good pictures for a PHONE. Certainly see the difference between this phone & my K810i.
Bad.
- GPS seems bit hit miss but maybe firmware update will sort that. Noticed that when I geo tagged a picture it had the tag located about half a mile away from actual location, even though phone said it had a signal lock & knew exactly where I was.
- Screen brightness flickers when writing text.
- This is my first slider & the keys position when texting is taking a bit of getting used to even though I don't have sausage fingers.
- No Clock sleep mode.
- When scrolling thru contacts you MUST press the call button to dial the number (pressing the keypad, just opens the contact) whereas before it would have called the contact.
- Watch the battery life - Turn off 3G & BT etc if not required.
- Sharp metal hook for lanyard sticks out catching your little finger as you hold phone while texting.
Good.
- Call quality is good.
- Music player is fine & easy to use with good sound on my own headphones.
- Accelerometer is handy.
- Anti scratch screen.
- Range of Camera functions & decent flash.
If the low down is do I recommend it? Yes, even with the niggles above.

I was looking for a good camera phone. I have found it in the C905.
For the past 5 years I have used Samsung phones. I had a D600, then a Samsung E840 (which broke after 9 months, got fixed, & then broke again 4 months later, back to the reliable D600). I like Samsung phones, but I have had problems in my area with picking up signals.
The difference I found with the Sony Ericsson C905 was that I got a good signal everywhere in my house. Previously, with Samsung phones, I had to go upstairs to make a phone call, & sometimes I couldn't send texts wherever in the house I was. I have so far had no problems sending texts or making phone calls with the C905.
Yes, I was worried about the weight. But I wanted a camera phone, & cameras are not light! This is a fantastic camera. The Xenon flash & an auto-focus lens with face detection puts my old 5MP Sony Cybershot camera to shame! This camera-phone is perfect for portrait shots.
Yesterday, I accidently dropped the phone onto a hard marble floor from a height of a little under a metre. I was gutted! I watched in horror as the battery cover came off & the battery fell out. But do you know what. I cannot find a single scratch on the phone! There is absolutely no damage.
The battery seems quite good. Better than my old Samsung D600, but not exactly the talk time stated. Still, I managed a 1 & a half hour phone call with no problem, & I had sent dozens of texts during the day.
However, why I haven't given 100% for Design is that you can only listen to the FM Radio with the supplied headphones. I don't want to use them, I want to use my own Sennheiser in ear headphones!
Overall though, this is a lovely camera phone, & I am sure I'll be happy for the next 18 months of my contract (on Orange).

Previously had the C902 but brought myself out of the contract to have the C905.I found the C902 had problems with freezing & cutting you off when making a call, but there's No problems whatsoever with the C905.Its a brilliant phone, well done Sony. It was well worth the wait. Go for it folks, you won't regret it.
It looks lovely in silver or gold, but looks best in black. It looks so sophisticated & very classy indeed. It's very sturdy too, should last for many years. I thought the K800i was a brilliant phone by Sony, & it is still pretty popular, but this one the Sony C905 is going to be a real big seller, it's going to sell out real fast, so if you want one of these folks, I do highly recommend this phone to you. My current contract has just come to an end & I have been looking at what phones are available to replace my existing phone (the Sony Ericsson W850i). At the time of writing, I can see that the only devices that even merit my attention are the HTC Touch diamond & of course, the one that everyone I speak to seems to be raving about, the iPhone.
Having seen both of those devices in the flesh (due to the impulsive employees in my office), I am impressed in different ways by them both, but I am glad that I resisted the urge to buy into another lengthy contract with either of them. The reason for that is the C905! This phone would appear to be the complete all round package & the only phone that has so far managed to grab my complete attention.
Yes there are other phones that do this & other phones that do that, but they tend to fall short of the complete package. I have looked at the whitepaper for this phone, & this phone would appear to have more features than you can shake a stick at. The 8.1MPixel camera with XENON FLASH, coupled with geo tagging is as complete as it gets because let's not forget, This is a phone. A phone that offers high speed Internet access via HSPDA or Wi-Fi, has built in GPS & support for Assisted GPS, can print directly to a photo printer via USB, & much much more. Oh & let's not forget, this phone looks damn good.
I am definitely holding out for this one! Roll on September.

I have gone to many different sites to read up on this baby, & to be honest, it is a complete package phone, normally you wouldn't find a phone which has so many good & reliable functions packed into one, the sleek design of the phone, the nice compact size, the reliable brand name which has proved over & over again that Sony are capable of leading any market in the electronic game.
The great thing about the phone is that, if you are at a location & you really enjoyed yourself, you can simply take a picture on your C905, it adds information to the picture such as the usual date & time stamp, but, Sony has focused themselves on Geo tagging, you simply put your GPS system on & click on the Geo tagging dial for the picture & it will pinpoint your location where you are & adds the information to the picture.
They have focused this phone to be for the picture takers rather than the usual stand alone phone user, although any consumer purchasing this phone will be more than happy with its results.
The phones primary function is more of a camera then an actual phone, music wise, it stores x amounts of songs depending on the size of the memory stick, although it has its own internal memory storage, people may moan of the small internal memory but then what are you needing so much space for, the external memory stick can offer you the better deal in this. I have noticed with many Sony Ericsson phones that the speaker is not as loud as a Nokia N95 (8GB) & some of the other Nokia phones, I am hoping it will deliver better sound than most of its older phones.
Overall the functions & brilliance of Sony Ericsson has come out yet again to deliver only what Sony Ericsson can do.
I have held a few Sony Ericsson phones as well & the OS on them have been OK, I have noticed with a lot of them as time goes by after treating them with TLC the software seem to slow down or freeze or unneeded bugs as with other phones but have noticed Sony Ericsson's phones seem to hold this a lot more than other phones. Let's hope Sony has made plans to keep updates & fixes to a minimum & allow users to enjoy their phone a lot more.
Phone will be out possibly late September early October time. Honest Reviewer Jack Jones.
