Had this phone for nearly 2 years after my Nokia 6300 switched off & refused to go back on!
Phone has been fine no major problems, battery life is better than the Nokia. Can't believe so many people have reported so many problems with this phone, it's one of the best ones I've had.
The only problem I have. If I send an MMS message it resets the ringtone to the standard Sony Ericsson tone, & I lose my message alert tone for a standard one. The only way to sort it is to switch phone off, take battery out, put battery back in & switch it on again!

I got this phone about a year & a half ago on a 3 mobile contract Very disappointed I was assured that this has the camera was fantastic & it just isn't.
Pros of this phone
- Camera (it is better than a Nokia 6120).
- Layout of menus.
- Battery life is OK.
Cons of this phone.
- Camera could be better (no zooming at 3.1MP?
- WHY can't Sony just use normal SD cards.
- Charger is complete rubbish- it doesn't work half the time always have to check to make sure it actually IS charging.
- Network for about 2 weeks it said 'Emg calls only' not allowing me to make any calls
- Freezes
- No software for macs
- Can't have the charger & the ear piece in at the same time which is VERY annoying for me
I will be looking at new phones on eBay today & won't buy a Sony Ericsson again.

I've had the phone for about a year now to replace another Sony Ericsson which was brilliant. It has been nothing but trouble.
The retailer (who I can't fault) won't take it back as it is usually working, but the only actual fault is that it keeps losing the network. The real problem is that you don't know if you get a missed call or if someone leaves you a voice message, so it can be days before you realise.
It's the last Sony Ericsson I'll ever buy.

I got this phone on contract a few months ago & I am having a lot of problems with it, the texts come up in conversations style & I am frequently finding myself scrolling through them trying to find my last text which is usually somewhere in the middle. On an average of twice a day I receive a text saying I have missed a call but my phone has not rung, it often freezes & I have to turn it off or take the battery out, this is not just my phone, my friend has the same phone as me with the same problems, she took hers back & they have replaced it with the same phone until her contract has finished, I am paying 15 pound a month for this phone which is a reasonable price but not for a phone which doesn't work, very disappointed with this phone, I do not recommend it, I will not stand for a replacement of the same phone it is not acceptable, I am paying for a phone which does not work.

I have had my C510 for several months I bought it because my K800 was getting on a bit & wouldn't last forever.I have been very pleased with the C510 it is very user friendly & is very reliable & dare I say the picture quality rivals the K800, screen resolution is top quality.

Don't buy this phone! Sony Ericsson do not care about their customers! I bought this phone from Carphone Warehouse for my partner as a present, he is a surgeon & uses it for work. It switches itself off randomly so when he's on call no one can reach him putting lives at risk. So far it's had a problem where it would not ring, the screen kept freezing & distorting & also the keypad kept sticking. We have sent this phone back 3 times already after having it 10 months, it takes an average of 2 to 3 weeks to get it back after repair. Carphone Warehouse will not replace the handset unless it has had three different problems within 3 months.
When we rang Sony Ericsson they said no one else had this many problems with the phone therefore they were not interested in the reliability issues we were having with this handset. Basically tough luck! Disgusting service! They of course would replace the phone on my insurance! I bought this phone because it had good reviews as a reliable phone, I will never buy from Carphone Warehouse or Sony Ericsson again.

I have had this phone for a year now & haven't had any problems with reliability. The only minor issues are, speakerphone can sometimes produce background hissing & my Daughters handset crashed when the 2GB memory card became full.

This phone is the best phone ever. Had it for a few months now, still in full working condition. Not slow at all just as fast as it was when I got it!
I would recommend this phone to anyone! GREAT phone!

Got this phone for 6 months, works well, only problem is that when I write a SMS in Chinese characters, it automatically change to MMS, even Sony NZ can't solve this.

Got this as an upgrade from my trusty K800i. Thankfully the C510 operates in much the same way as the K800i & even though it's slimmer it's still a comfortable size.
Lots of really good features, nice screen & easy to navigate menus. There's several options to customise the layout & appearance of the menus & texts are easy to compose.
The media library navigation is improved, & the new screen auto rotate feature makes viewing videos & pictures simpler.
Like the K800 it uses M2 memory cards, so I was able to put it in the C510 & keep all my data & music I had saved. The music player is good & the MegaBass option is great for making songs sound less tinny through headphones.
However, while it's well presented & simple to use, there are some issues:
First, the 3.2MP camera is not as good as the K800's (also 3.2MP), which is disappointing, especially given the CyberShot association. Images are never very sharp & there seems to be a lot of noise, as if the ISO is too high (I.e. It is too sensitive). Also, the xenon flash has been ditched & replaced with two LEDs (these can be used as a torch too).
One thing I would like to say, People complain about the lack of zoom when using anything but VGA, which is a strange omission, but actually digital zoom is pointless anyway, you will get the same result by cropping the zoomed out picture as it is not optical zoom! On the plus side, videos look better :-).
The other main issue is that the software does not run as smoothly as on the K800. This is most noticeable when opening sub menus & browsing the media pages.
Battery life seems a little lower due to the bigger screen but is still acceptable. I've turned the brightness all the way down to help. Also, not sure why the charger plug supplied has been changed so you can't charge & use headphones!? Fortunately I've still got the old one where you can.
Overall a nice phone, looks great, camera is a bit of a letdown but I'd recommend it to anyone after a practical, non bling mobile.

Had this phone for 6 months with nothing but problems with it. It keeps cutting out & developed a fault saying insert SIM all the time at random intervals. Had it repaired 4 times over a month at the Carphone Warehouse & eventually they exchanged it for a C902 which is much better. The guy in the shop said they have had loads of the C510's coming back due to this error & it's costing Sony a fortune. Apparently it's a software issue they can't repair! Don't buy it! Get a C902 instead, it's a much better camera & much faster software!

This phone is awesome, believe me it is not perfect, but for me it is. It has beautiful display & beautiful camera.
What I like the most is the design, it has such a humble design, has the camera cover that looks so stylish, he he.
For it price, you could compare with other phone with the price, but all of it far from this. It is truly futuristic the video is totally smooth & clear. Awesome!

Had a lot of issues with this phone from new, firstly a power fault & then a charging problem, had to send the phone back for repair, also the camera is useless unless you purchase a memory card, even then the quality is poor. Just recently had a problem with the central selection key & have been informed by repair centre that Sony Ericsson do not cover this under warranty. Beware! Steer clear of phones with this type of selection joystick (key).

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I had this phone for a couple of days it is getting slower & slower day by day. Got 1GB card with the phone & if you fill the card it keeps on hanging in most of the applications. People who want to buy this phone ONLY for the camera, for them it is OK but I think a mobile phone should have good software too.
It is a rubbish phone when it comes to the usability. Example, if you receive any data from the Bluetooth you have to press OK the number of times for the number of files you receive. It's very weird. The other applications have their drawbacks too. This review page would not be enough for the cons. The Nokia phones are the best in the world in their usability. The camera might not be their priority.
Guys if you want to save your money. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE. DEADSLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW.

I had a Nokia 6300 & then bought this. This is so slow I can't believe it. Sony thinks we don't need something like locking a keypad when in a call, or marking multiple contacts to delete, or using the phone when it is connected to a PC via USB in mass media mode, or connecting a headset when charging, or even a fast search for the signal.

The only reason I brought this phone is because my Sony Ericsson K800i was stolen.
I am very pleased with the phone, is like the K800i but all the features are that little more developed, better music player, with the MEGABASS setting that I used to have with my old Sony Ericsson.
Great phone would recommend.

I got this phone after having a Nokia 6300 (& it falling apart beyond repair). Have to say I was a little worried about making the switch from Nokia to Sony Ericsson as they seemed so different in terms of texting & navigating but it was both easy & a joy, once I got used to having the space button in a different place. The texting on this phone is extremely easy & quick & the conversations feature allows you to see what you've been talking about without having to save the message as a draft, go back & read the message, then continue, this is extremely useful. The camera is great. A lot of people don't understand that the quality of the pictures a camera phone can take doesn't depend upon its megapixels (well, it does to an extent) but on the features. This phone has produced some great pictures already & the auto focus & depth of field in the camera is great. I've previously, over the last short while, had a Motorola, Nokia & LG & this is the best by far.
Oh & the phone looks great, is a great price & is hard wearing (having knocked it about quite a bit so far).

I regret buying the Sony Ericsson C510. The connection isn't consistent so it always cuts out, the camera isn't what I had thought it'd be like & I am now on my third C510 due to software issues. Good thing I am on contract with it. Even this C510 is going back to where I bought it from, the camera won't even start up. So much for reliable.

This is a great phone, great looks, excellent features but I only gave it 10% for design because I am with the 3 Network which comes across as one of the worst networks that showed for network coverage my phones favourite message is EMERG CALLS ONLY.

Guys I absolutely adored this phone when it was working, it had many small usability features that I never realised I wanted until I had them. This is perhaps the best phone in this price range. I bought it after a research of almost 6 months. Looks are mind blowing.
Camera? I think the word cyber shot describes it all. The quality is just like my digital camera in fact I purchased this machine to replace my digital camera because it's hard to carry it everywhere, & you know wt it has more options in camera if I compare both. Excellent video features also make me go more crazy. You also have a zoom option while video recording it's amazing.
But I will not feel shy to say that camera is not good at night.ths is the only negative feature I don't know why Ericsson guys have done that. Rest everything fine in this ultimate machine just go & grab it.

I love this phone, purchased after the joystick went on my K800i. Browsing is fast which is a bonus. The only downside I have come across is the fact that if you add an animation to a SMS message it automatically becomes a MMS message, whereas on the K800i it remained a SMS. My phone package allows unlimited free SMS but charge for MMS. Nothing major though so I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this phone 4 weeks ago, it is perfect well design phone. I am a Sony Ericsson user since the K750i & K790i, I never had any problem with any one phones. The C510 is sleek slim, lightweight, perfect screen size, good audio & a 3.2 MP cyber shot camera.
Only negative feature is zoom not possible in 3MP & 2MP, it's available only in VGA camera only. Camera quality not good when compared with K790i which is very painful.
Overall it is a great phone.

This phone is unbelievable value for money. It has a bright clear display with a scratch proof coating, excellent music player (with MegaBass) & good camera. Although also 3.2MP, it is still not as good as the 3.2MP camera on the k800i though. Part of this is that it has a dual LED flash instead of a xenon flash. The keys are very small but I've got used to them, would not recommend to someone with big fingers however! The speaker is mounted on the back, which I thought would make it hard to hear when ringing, but luckily it is very loud, so not missed a call or text yet.
All in all an excellent buy, recommended.

A small & light phone with tiny keys. You get used to them though but I wouldn't recommend this to the fat fingered fraternity as they are really small. Surprisingly easy to text with though, if you don't have big digits. A lot has been crammed into a small area to make way for the 2ins screen. The screen is excellent, scratch resistant, crisp & vivid. Quick access to the net & speedy downloads are a boon. Sony's latest cyber shot with 3.2MP camera represents excellent value for money, good camera, 3G, HSPDA, Google maps (very accurate) the only thing that lets it down is lack of a xenon flash, instead twin LED lights. I say, go buy it!

Practical, nice looking, small in size, better than basic features including good music player & camera. Fabulous Sony Ericsson style & layout. A perfect purchase for me, I am really happy with this phone, no complaints from me.
My opinion, buy it, it's a good value for money purchase & good phone. I scored the design down to 95% as it has a practical design, not the WOW factor we all want from our phones.

Fantastic phone! I bought last week. Choose this one over the K770i. It's really light & slim. Can't tell if it's in my pocket! Excellent camera too. The buttons are slightly small for texting, but OK once you get used to them. Definitely recommend this phone!

I was really looking forward to this phone, got it the day it came out on Orange. Had it one day & sent it back. The handset is a cheap thin plastic.
I'm waiting for the Nokia 6700 in June!

I just got upgraded by Orange. I had a K850i previously which I chose believe it or not for the easy to use buttons! The Orange guy was offering was offering a W705, but when I asked whether bigger fingers were compatible he suggested the C510. I disagree, the buttons are smaller & closer together & to be honest I am considering returning it & finding an alternative.
The phone itself does what the K850i did with the added bonus of smile & face recognition on the camera although the MP has dropped from 5MP to 3.2. Still, its not bad.

I bought this phone 3 weeks ago, it is perfect, & I enjoyed every aspect of it, so far. I am a Sony Ericsson user since the K750, through K800, K810, G900 & now C510, never had a single problem with any one of these phones. The C510 is slim, lightweight, perfect screen size, good audio & a 3.2 MP cyber shot camera, which is even better than the G900 5 MP camera, the future black colour is beautiful, the only negative thing is the LED flash instead of xenon flash.
Overall it is a great phone & I love it.

I had to replace my Sony Ericsson W810i payg (which is a good phone) only because had problem charging. I like Sony Ericsson because I can take the M2 card out (using adapter in W810i) & put it in new & off I go. I have had my eye on C902 but very expensive, then I saw the C510 in silver which is 3G & the price. The Orange sales guy said good phone for the money, just under £100. Now I have had it for a week he is not wrong. What can I say about it. It is excellent in all departments. Good camera with LED & hidden when not in use. Music player good. One really good feature I must mention is that it has a large screen & it is scratch resistant. I could go on, but if you need a new phone & on a budget get this you will not be disappointed. A plus rating.
