Got this last Wednesday on Vodafone. Friend of mine had 1 & I just loved the design! Got mine in ruby. I like my keypads I must say have tried touch phones before Samsung blade. Hated it, could not get the hang of it at all. But this is much better. So much easier to use. Hasn't taken me too long to get use to texting, which I do more than anything on my phones. Love the screen lay out. If wanting to cross over to touch pad I would say this is a good start. Have not had too many problems with this as yet. But after reading reviews which are mixed I had insurance put into place. The music player isn't the best I have seen on a Sony Ericsson but that maybe where Sony Ericsson cut back, i.e. HD. It does not have your normal bass etc to pick from when playing your music. Also the headphones are the worse I have ever had! Buying some new ones for this. Big letdown. For the price ticket on this you would think they would be of better sound & quality mine have packed up first time I used them. I have found that apps have to be exited out of 1 by 1. Had many running in the back ground I did not know were on. It knocked it's self on today in my bag & was on the Internet! Touchpad little over sensitive! Camera, well I am going to say it my son had a Nokia N95 2 years ago & nothing has beat that yet in! But maybe that's me not used to it yet. The design is sleek & top class. I do really love this phone it's so easy to use & that's what I love about it.

Camera & HD Video are amazing, as a phone it takes some time to get used to, but I was getting there until I hit the same problem I have seen many other users hitting. The phone charger connector in the phone always seemed to be sensitive, but this got worse & worse. My Vivaz is 2 months old & the internal socket has just come loose from the phone & it won't charge anymore. I just arranged to send it back for repair. 2 months old & very disappointed with it now. This must be a design flaw as I have seen so many other people hit the same problem. Don't BUY THIS PHONE!

Simply a great phone. From all Smartphone is this one the smarties. Only bad thing, what was here already mentioned is that applications have to be shut down individually & not simply by the red button, else they run in background.

However, beside this fact this phone is amazing.

Take my advice when considering whether to buy the Vivaz, DON'T BOTHER!

I've had it for 2 months with a contract from CPW, it stopped charging so I took it back. It came back from the engineers with the news that the circuit board has been ripped out (while charging!) it's not repairable, it's not under warranty, I don't have insurance.

Also, while in the shop someone else was complaining about exactly the same problem with a Vivaz, his was replaced through his insurance but three weeks later he has the same problem with his new phone. Mine has now gone back to Sony Ericsson but I have a feeling I am not going to be happy.

Obviously design flaw on this phone is the power cable connector. It will eventually tear out the connection port from inside the phone which will render your phone useless. Took just 2 months for mine to do so. I have also read many reviews of this happening to many other people. If yours has lasted this long I am sure it is only a matter of time before it happens to you. Check the two grips on the power cable that hold it into the phone. They grip too tightly & eventually work loose the connection port from inside the phone. Sony Ericsson have refused to recognise this as a design flaw & have no knowledge of this happening before despite other people making this complaint to them. Please do not buy this phone or return yours if you still can.

I purchased this phone on the back of reviews on the Internet, & have since found it to (sometimes) be one of the worst phones I have ever purchased.

The things that irritate me the most would be.
- General usability, it's almost as if the designers of the menu structure have never interacted with a human before, the simplest of things (such as setting a reminder) is ridiculously tedious.
- the phone quite regularly slows to a crawl, & becomes impossible to use
- It turns itself off right when you don't want it to (at one point, I was unable to turn it back on for 4 days).
- There isn't a single game on the phone, from what I can see, games have to be paid for & downloaded.
- I have been unable to find a timer or stopwatch (something that should be standard for a phone! ), or maybe it's just impossible to find in the menu structure.
- the orientation sensor is too sensitive; the display switches between orientations right when you don't want it to.
- the camera is OK, but the absence of a flash is frustrating.
- the touch screen isn't terrific.
- the vibration alert is far too weak to feel in your pocket.

In hindsight, I wish I had paid a little more for an iPhone, only 17 more months & I replace my Vivaz.

This is definitely a phone that should be avoided.

Seems to be a good phone, I only got it yesterday so I am still testing it but from what I can gather, any files I send from my other Sony (W995) are sent as MMS, & as a result use the phone memory instead of going straight to my 6GB Memory Card. Is this normal? If so, I am tempted to take it straight back & get a refund! I haven't even used the Bluetooth Dongle on Sony PC Suite, as it had an error downloading & so I couldn't install the MediaPlayer, (I think that was it! ). Not a brilliant start! Anyone got any ideas apart from the obvious, ie take it back?

Got my phone & after 3 weeks it started freezing constantly. The battery life is very poor & I did charge it up fully before I used it. The phone started switching on & off then to top it off after the 30 day warranty the metal bracket in the charging port off the phone fell out! Can't use the phone now & completely refuse to pay £80 to fix seeing as it is faulty & not been damaged by myself.

For Sarah. Did you charge your phone for 8 hours when you first got it? You're meant to charge it for this long without using it when you get a new phone. You are also meant to let the phone completely run out of battery before you plug it in to charge. This will help the battery hold its charge & last for longer.

My battery lasts around 4 days, & that is with daily Internet use, music playing, texting & calling.

Love this phone, does everything, looks good, & it's easy to use. The only bad point is it's like a Nokia. & you have to exit everything if not it will carry on running in the background. I forget this & end up with like 10 things running in the background. Apart from that it's amazing.

Loved this phone, very stylish, easy to use, great camera & music player. Sadly seems the battery life lets it down as it is not lasting a full day rendering it useless to me. I swapped the first one thinking perhaps the battery was faulty but the second one is the same. Very disappointed as other than this problem it's great.

Well I've ordered mine from Vodafone & it will arrive Wednesday. I've scored it high on what I've read & from seeing the phone in the shop, whether it will live up to my expectations. We'll have to wait & see, I am a Sony Ericsson fan & am changing to the Vivaz from the T700 which I've got on OK with. Watch this space! Lynn.

No question about this phone.

- Very responsive touchscreen.
- Amazing camera.
- Amazing style.

The perfect phone. I am replacing my Nokia 5800 with the Vivaz. They both run on the same Symbian program, & I am so glad. The Nokia has given me no problems, just its old age makes it slower.

Vivaz is the phone to get. Now.

Nice looking phone, but. You have to make a lot of selections to do anything. The most annoying things are the fact it diverts all calls after switching it off & on so you have to deselect divert all calls & reinitiate the ones you want to direct & to where.

I have only managed to find one set of headphones that work with this phone, my iPod ones, which is practically useless as you can't speak through them, even some Sony ones don't work (don't want Bluetooth as I listen to the radio) so much for 'use your favourite headphones.

I wouldn't buy this phone again which is a shame as it looks great & takes lovely pictures despite it not having a flash.

I ordered two of these phones one for me & the other for my other half.

When I opened the box I liked what I saw & the phone itself works well but I work as a digger driver & there is no way on earth that I would hear it ringing its so quiet! I tried sticking loud songs on it but even they are to quiet so I am going to be sending mine back but I will keep the other as this is not an issue for my other half.

I am quite gutted as the whole HD thing would of been handy.

Here do I start, I so wanted to like this phone & got this as an upgrade which I never do as prefer negotiating a deal when you want to leave your mobile carrier. All I need is a phone with a great camera, as all my music, movies, GPS, web etc is on my Archos 5 Android

But the following in 24 hours have really annoyed me.

- Contacts having to be sent to the phone individually even though I was going from Sony C905 to Sony Vivaz. Memory cards backup not available so that won't work, mass Bluetooth only sends over 1st contact, PC suite won't transfer between phones & over Internet via Sony's website & Sony's Facebook app. The Vivaz would work.

- A phone that is being sold as the major camera phone in the market, not having a flash? You can have a light on or off but takes a good few clicks for that to happen.

- Camera pictures even in daylight aren't the best, far worse than my old 5MP Sony's & Nokia's

- Vibrate alert can't be felt which is a must for most folks in their workplaces I would guess d it doesn't vibrate when on charge, so you have no clue if a call or message comes in

- The fact that someone before me had his phone. Vodafone have stuck another security seal over the initial one on the box, pamphlets inside were crumbled & the back protection cover was all wrinkled. You pay £35 a month, I expect new goods. Not nearly new

I have 7 days to play with this so will continue over the weekend but I am pretty set that this is going back & I shall stick with my C905 until my contract ends in May & possibly get the HTC Desire even though the camera is not as well specified.

Got this phone a few days ago & I am well impressed with it but this is my second phone as the first one had trouble on the Internet it wouldn't load the web pages up. But the second phone I got is fine. The touch screen is very responsive & the battery lasts long it has a few apps on there, PDF reader, YouTube, Face book. I bought this phone in replacement of my Blackberry Curve 8900 which I do not regret at all. The camera is good & the HD video recording is really good it's really clear.

I really recommend this phone I give it in all 100%. Go out & get one. Lee.

The Sony Ericsson VIVAZ is an absolute brilliant phone. As a phone itself it is perfect. The media facilities are amazing. The camera & video is unbelievably good. The usability is second to none. I have used Sony Ericsson for years now & this is the best phone I have ever used. The looks & styling, the weight, the functions are just great.

I got this phone yesterday for £215.00 factory unlocked with a trade in on my BlackBerry Curve 8900 at Carphone Warehouse. This phone is very impressive I don't seem to have any problems with it. The camera is good & the HD video recording is excellent it's really clear & the touch screen is very responsive. The phone comes with BBC iPlayer & a PDF reader, Facebook & a YouTube app. The thing I find with it is when you surf the Net is takes a while to load a page but this could be down to my network coverage or the web browser! You can download opera mini browser which might sort it out if it is down to the Sony Ericsson Web browser. In all it's a very good phone! I recommend it! As it has just come out there won't be much apps for it if you search under Sony Ericsson Vivaz but it runs on Symbian s60 software the some as Nokia 5800 express. I would imagine the apps for the Nokia 5800 will work on the Sony Ericsson Vivaz which I haven't tried yet! Lee.
