First impressions of this phone weren't great with the slow interface, poor battery life & difficulty in finding anything (searching the embedded help section just trawls Google rather than items pertaining to this phone).
However, once I switched off the GPS, the phone speeded up markedly, & after becoming more familiar with it I now kind of like it. I am not ready to live with a touch screen yet, unless it's an iPhone which I can't afford, so to my mind this is the next best thing.
It has everything I need to be honest, 3G, Wi-Fi & exchange activesync. If I am out & about with my netbook & this phone I can quickly connect to the Internet via Bluetooth without taking the phone out of my pocket (yeah I know tethering is not allowed but it works so who cares? ). If I don't have my netbook I can check my work emails from my phone & keep in touch with the world via the basic web browser using a very reliable (so far) HSDPA connection.
There are some annoying things however; the widget feature seems like a bit of an afterthought, it's not customisable so you are stuck with what they give you, which is not a lot really. The facebook app works OK if you have decent eyesight, but if you are after this kind of feature you are better off with a bigger screen. On that note, Youtube is next to useless as the resolution is so poor, although the demo videos included on the phone itself look fine, strange.
The camera is a bit, slow & clunky, but images look decent when opened on a PC, if not on the phone itself. Never used the music player, but those darn proprietary socket earphones would never fit in my lugs anyway.
In short, if you want a reliable phone with superb connectivity options, a nice keypad for texting, light, easy to carry in your pocket & with a decent battery life, you can't go too far wrong with this. If you want a phone with great multimedia capabilities then look elsewhere.
Oh, & one last thing, if you have a choice, get the black version. I have the silver one which has a mirror surrounding the screen. Every time I use the phone I see my ugly mug looking back at me which is very distracting!

The battery cover is extremely difficult to open. Even shop staff had problems. Broken fingernails trying to open!

I've had this phone for almost a month & it's been great so far. The music player is, as ever for a Sony Ericsson, brilliant. The phone is very easy to use & so far reliable. It has a very good battery life & photos are pretty good too. Perfect for those who are happy with a conventional mobile phone. The only downside is that the screen could be a little bigger otherwise it's great, certainly beats my old W595 which was good to start with then a disaster.
