Battery life rubbish no 3G, thin design, been dropped a few times & has scratches on it, reasonable camera, signal great, big screen & good size buttons, charger & headphone connector cover doesn't stay in fully but nice phone.

Was great until it snapped in half. Usability & design when it's in half. Not too good, features still manage to work though. Getting a new one. LOVE IT!

This phone is FANTASTIC. I got it just before Christmas, & I definitely know it won't be until a very long time when I get a new one.
Good points.
- Although the camera is only 2 meg.pix. It is pretty brilliant! & also very easy to upload onto your computer.
- It is so light! & it fits PERFECTLY in your back jeans pocket.
- MP3 is great. Although, it's not so loud, the sound is crystal clear.
- Some people are saying it has a rubbish battery life, absolute rubbish. Mine lasts for longer than any of my other phones.
Bad Point.
- It's a tad hard to get used to because you have to fiddle around with the keys a bit.
BUY IT, It's amazing. :D.

I've had this phone for 11 months now & I have broken it once because I had it in my back pocket while on my bike which did the screen in, this didn't surprise me to much. Apart from that this phone has been durable & wears well. I've dropped in many times & the black plastic it is made of doesn't show scratches like metallic phones do. People are always surprised at how thin it is & I love it. It's sleek in your pocket. It has a good screen & the buttons are clearly laid out & are nice to use. It's a wide phone which makes it easy to grip. For use for calling it works well. Samsung have some bad design points in this phone & others. 1. You can't have a ring tone & it vibrating at the same time 2. You can set your own text tone. Its battery life is good on standby. The camera has nice pictures in good light which is all I expect from it though there is a bit of a delay between pressing shoot & the photo being taken.
To sum it up this phone has preformed well & is far more durable that its tiny body suggests, it works well in all its functions as a phone. It has the MP3 player & camera as you expect which are decent. In all it has served me well.

The design is great in my opinion. Big, useable buttons despite the fact it's a compact phone.
For texting & phoning it's great. If you seriously want anything more than that you'll have to get a slightly thicker phone! Given that, the message capacity is the smallest I've come across recently.
I am on the second of these as the first one snapped. I know it's a thin phone but you'd expect them to foresee these things & reinforce it somehow. Luckily Samsung were happy to replace it on warranty. Unluckily, the new one snapped & now the warranty has expired. Two snaps in 16 months isn't that bad considering it's usually in my trouser pocket & snapped around the curve of my leg. If the phone is going in a handbag I wouldn't be concerned.
It has its negatives, but I don't regret buying the phone. It's simple & reliable, never freezes etc. It looks good & impresses anyone who sees it.

Last year while abroad this phone let me down badly due to its truly awful battery life. My young Son was taken seriously ill back in the UK & I was desperate for news of his condition as I dashed from the South of France by motorcycle. Not being able to make & receive calls despite the phone being fully charged when I set off in the morning made my distress all the worse. It seems to stay on charge for ages when on standby, then runs down very quickly when in use.
Gets very warm & uncomfortable while in use, recommend using Bluetooth. Despite changing the settings & even shielding the screen with my hand or my shadow, the screen is impossible to view in daylight. Video can only be viewed with sound on a computer by using the Samsung software.
The ability to read PDF & word documents is useful as is the timer, stopwatch & multi occasion alarm functions. Not used the TV out function because a special not supplied lead is required. Despite the faults, I quite like it, although I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.
In summary, a dreadful battery life & poor screen visibility, excellent features.

I've had this phone for 9 months & I can't stand it. It's really thin - big deal. When did Samsung get the idea that the thinner the phone, the better it was? Buttons don't work well, texting is a pain because of the key configuration, & the battery life is awful.
I didn't buy the first one (my company did) & I certainly wouldn't buy another one. Samsung is expert at one thing. Missing the mark. I am turned off by the whole brand now.

NOT SO GOOD! I actually always kept mine in my pocket guess what. It snapped in half! So I then went to get it repaired & they said that it would cost £135 which is more than I actually paid for the phone, so I went to an alternative, a case to hold it together which has worked so far but that set me back £35! The Bluetooth has stopped working since it snapped & it cuts out quite a lot! Features are good, can't put a memory card in it though, battery life is really bad & it hasn't got a feature to ring & vibrate at the same time so it's either one or the other! After having the phone for 6 months now it has to be charged very night but it does only take around 2 & a half hours to charge fully. I would not recommend you to buy a thin phone as this snapped without any force what so ever. Overall not very happy.

The phone is very nice at least my girlfriend has discovered I got taste! It has 2 problems only, the battery life & the vibrate alert. The battery has no life at all, I guess that's why they sell it with 2 batteries, but it is irritating having to carry an extra battery & charge every time. The vibrate alert is weak & at times I miss calls just because I didn't hear or feel the phone vibrate even when it is in my pockets. I had a Samsung X100 & it was superb with the charge & alert. X820 is a sleek phone, I can live with the 2 problems!

I really love this phone. I had it in silver but every single phone that I had malfunctioned. I had six different phones all within a year & now I am waiting on my new Motorola. This phone is a VERY nice phone, but be wary if you don't want to have to replace it all of the time. The only reason that I didn't mind is because I have T-mobile & they rock & gave me all of the phones completely free, even shipping. This is a great & easy to use phone though & takes unbelievably great pictures.

Looks & feels great. I've dropped it several times, & due to its dense construction it's survived without damage. I always charge it overnight & have never had a problem, but it needs daily charging, that's the only issue I have; but remember this phone is only 7mm thick; so there's no room for a bigger battery.
I've had it about 12 months & the only 'problems' are that the silver on the 'arch' near the speaker has worn off - but reveals solid metal (brass? ) underneath, & the cover to the charging slot does not fit perfectly snug - but it hasn't broken off which I thought might happen.
I keep it in a small (Pentax) digital camera case that clips to my belt; so have never had any issue with fragility that I was afraid might accompany the thin design. I believe the body is some kind of metal alloy, not plastic.
All in all, a great phone with superb design - highly recommended.

This phone is a step back into the dark ages, over the years of using different mobiles, a weekly charge had become a standard routine.
I purchased this phone for its good looks & thin body, great to carry, but it is now doing my head in having to charge it every day on a regular basis. I am not a heavy user either, so please all of you buyers - be warned, nice phone but absolutely rubbish at keeping its charge.

This phone is EXCELLENT I bought it recently in the O2 shop with my loyalty discount & it is magnificent! I have the Samsung E900 & I have compared it with that is this is far superior to it. The Camera is amazing the videos can be played full screen & they are like DVD quality. I use this phone lots & send lots of messages & the battery life is fine. I like the screen on this phone it is like a Widescreen quality. It has everything you would expect. Soon, I will buy the new Samsung U100, the remake of mine.

Bought on impulse due to its fab styling & screen. Would be fine if it didn't need to work as a phone! Battery life is rubbish, have to charge it every day. It heats up against your ear within a couple of minutes of a call. & signal strength is diabolical, I've had more dropped calls in the week I've had this phone than I had in the 12 months I had my Nokia 6230i. Thankfully I've still got the old phone & have switched back to it.
If all you want to do is text & look good then I am sure it'd be fine, but start making calls.

Battery life is short (especially when using Bluetooth). Maximal volume is very low. Ringing volume low & its vibrating mode is not efficient. Letters (in text messages) very small & difficult to observe due to the black box that encircles the letter.

I'm already in my second x820. Great phone, internal features are all right & connectivity (Bluetooth + USB + Internet + e-mail)is great. I'm connecting directly with Gmail & Google Maps using java applications downloaded from Google. A card slot would make it a fantastic phone, as well a ring + vibrate feature.

This phone is great like everyone else has said in this column. My problem is that this phone begins to get warm after just 2 minutes of talking & starts simultaneously headache which remains quite for some time which makes me feel very uncomfortable. The SAR value seems well within the limitations even then getting hot & gives headaches unlike other makes & models.

First, I will say I have had this phone for 8 months now & am really impressed. This phone has a lot of features for being so thin.
The design is nice of course, being so thin that I forget it's in my pocket most of the time. Also, Contrary to what you might think, this phone is very durable. I have dropped it on concrete from a standing height numerous times, & the phone was completely fine besides a few scratches! I have sat on it multiple times, & it has even fallen out of my pocket while on my motorcycle & still didn't break!
The phone is packed with features. MMS & text messaging are very easy to use. The UI is very fast & responsive, seldom showing any lag at all (For fast fingers). The only flaw I ever found in this phone was that if you were on a Bluetooth headset, & checked a text message you would loose audio for the call. As far as battery life goes, I could usually get a day of above normal use out of it, but it would almost be dead by the time I went to bed. With sparing use, I could get it to last for 2 days. Oh yeah, & the camera takes very good pictures, however, you have to hold the camera still in low light to prevent blur. Video recording is alright, moving the camera in a vertical motion during recording will distort the video. However, I was able to create a 15minute + video on the phone! That's quite a while.
For the downsides, signal quality wasn't the greatest. In areas where a normal phone would have one bar, this would have none. The voice quality is probably 7 out of 10, sometimes sounding like it was at a low bit rate.
I recently lost this phone & am so satisfied I am looking at shelling out another $250 to get another one!

I bought this phone for the volume it has, & really was a good choice. Nothing worse than a thick & bulky phone. But I was very surprised about everything else: the 2MP camera takes great photo for the size it has, the menus are very fast & simple, there are no abbreviations on menus & almost no scrolling, in on/off menus it changes from the last selection to another automatically, which is great. I never miss a call (I edited a MP3 & made it louder for the phone) & I don't know what type of network you have in UK, but here it NEVER went down or lost signal.
The battery life could be better, but it is a great compromise between volume & life (it is a Li-Po battery not Li-Ion).
I have it for 8 months & still have to find a replacement for it. Absolutely fantastic.

Battery life is poor! Its maximum volume is very low. While walking, if I get a call, its max ringing volume is so low that, I will never be able to identify these calls.
Its Vibrating mode also is poor. Vibration re-count & its intensity is not just enough to alert the users.
Most of the calls are MISSED CALLS only.

I thought I'd review this phone because I read a few before I bought it & they nearly put me off (battery life, low signal etc etc). I really haven't found this a problem, signal is usually fine & the battery lasts longer than my Motorola I had before.
The only problem I can think of is I haven't figured out how to add a phone number from a text message to someone already in the phonebook. That's it.
So if you want a light, extremely portable phone that just does what is needs to then go for this. I don't think it's designed for anyone interested in having every gadget under the sun on their mobile though.

From a design point, the phone is sweet, but they made it so thin & flimsy, the screen broke after 1.5 months. No, I don't keep in my back pocket, just front pocket.
Features are good, but you can't synchronize with outlook calendar, & the camera is junk. Usability is very low, since reception is dodgy, & since the screen broke, I can't make outgoing calls.
Demanding that Orange replace the phone with something that's more than a glorified calculator (in other words, Nokia or Ericsson).

I purchased an x820 off eBay & had to get it shipped from some far away place because it wasn't out in England on pay as you go / sim free. Apart from having to use a 2 - 3 pin adapter for the charger this wasn't a problem. Everybody knows this phone is thin, I get so many comments & 'can I hold it's I have lost count. But that is about where it ends, it is stylish. That's it really. The camera is sub average, reception is noticeably worse than any other phone I have owned & the battery life is dismal if you use the camera or MP3 player. I could live with all of that if there wasn't the problem with the lock keys function. On a Nokia, you press menu then * it locks, repeat to unlock. On the Samsung, to unlock you press menu then * as with the Nokia, but & it's a big but, there is a software fault that makes me annoyed every time I try & unlock it. If the keypad is locked, pressing any key causes it to display 'keypad locked' on screen. This is fair enough, but you would expect it to unlock when you press menu then *. This is not always the case. Most of the time, ill bring it out of my pocket, press menu + star only to be greeted with the message & the phone staying locked, causing me to repeat menu then * a few times to unlock the phone. Also it gets warm in phone calls, useful if it's snowing & your hands are cold. Get it if you want to look cool & be sure the buttons won't be accidentally pressed. & even when you want them to be sometimes.

I like it, really thin & good looking phone. Easy to use buttons, menu etc. Loud ringtones but can't have vibrate & ring which is a pain. Also no SD slot for expandable memory. Battery life is also rubbish if you talk a lot, for texting it's absolutely fine & lasts 2/3 days depending on use. Durable to say how thin it is, I have dropped/sat on it a few times & have no damage. Camera is good & there are some good features included, only gripe with camera is no flash. I haven't really found anything wrong with reception. Overall excellent phone, Glad I bought it. Have had it nearly a year on pay as you go & no plans to change it yet.

This is my second phone. The first phone was replaced due to a low signal strength. The new replacement is not any better. It drops calls where my other phones didn't. Disgraceful. Orange said they can't guarantee the signal quality of a handset if it is used in a car without a fully installed car kit. Nothing more then lip service. Phones design is cute but the battery life is very very poor.

I have this phone for two weeks now. I miss signal strength provided to my old 6230i Nokia. Battery life is another problem. I have to charge every day. But I have to mention I do the same thing with a Nokia because my talk time daily is up 2 hours. So. I have to charge in my office, in my car.
The design of this phone makes my buy it. I simply love how it looks. The keypad has large buttons, the menu is very fast an intuitive. If I want to reject a phone & call back I could do it with jut one push of a button. This is really good because is happened a lot.

Great design, no problems with that. Mine has now snapped as I keep it in my back pocket but in a way I am relieved I can go back to a trusty Nokia. The reception on the x820 was unreliable, the vibrate before ringing meant many missed calls & the automatic unlock on receiving calls was infuriating, if you forget to re-lock it's easy to press silent mode in your pocket & as it only vibrates for two rings. Aaargh! Maybe I am just a dyed-in-the-wool Nokia user.

Had this phone for over 5 days & still have not charged it, granted I am only a medium user but it's still going strong on one charge. I chose this more for the form rather than the function so lack of some features doesn't have much impact on me. The lack of ring tone & vibration at the same time is a little strange as most phones allow this these days, but I've got it on vibration & the volume of the ringer when on seems to be fine. The only other thing that this phone could have done with seeing as it has MP3 playback & also camera/camcorder function is an SD slot but all in all I am really happy with the phone & keeping it.

It can be an early Christmas pressie to myself, & I am forever texting so hope this phone will be easy to use. I was texting all my best buddies last night whilst watching I am a celebrity Get Me Out of Here, I know its sad but it is true. I will get this phone & be able to text on a decent phone at long last. I can see why this range is called the Ultra Slim Edition as the X830 is only 6.9 mm thick, well thin. I am really excited about this phone. I will return with a more detailed review after using this mobile phone for a few weeks. Bye for now Dixie.

Signal strength awful, diverting most calls to voice box as no service. This phone heats up if used a lot. At high number 7 setting you cant hear it ring in your pocket. A pity cause Samsung normally good. Also have Samsung x680 on meteor no problems. If you need a phone for business avoid this or miss most of your calls.

The phone was very good but I place the phone in my back pocket I was worried that I may snap it due to how thin it is so I returned it as Vodafone give you a 14 day trial of any phone I am going for a E900 my wife is having a X820.

Had this phone for about a month. Not happy! Have no probs with design, & features, however the most important thing for me is reliability. The signal strength is rubbish. You have to be in an open space to be able to make & receive calls. VERY SAD! Am now selling it. Prefer reliability to style.

I have had this phone for a couple of days & love the appearance & feel. Struggled to master one or two of the features but great once I found out how to use them. Downside appears to be the camera which at 2.0 Megapix sounded great but without a flash most pictures not taken in good direct lighting come out blurred.

My rating for usability has been guessed as I don't have this phone but still have something to say. I want to see this phone in the flesh, 6.9 mm in thinnest... 66 grams it sounds unbelievable but I am sure it is true. I am overdue an upgrade & I tend to stick with what I know best & that is Samsung phones, I have found Samsung phones to be reliable & easy to use which is what I want from my phone. I am interested in the Edge & Bluetooth technology but not looking for a 3G phone, so the Samsung X820 looks ideal for me & my needs.

Please I need to know when this phone hits the United Kingdom as I want to be the first to have it. It is thinner than a super model & I really want a neat & thin phone next time. Please please please let me know the release date for the Samsung X820. The features sound great for my needs but it the design that really excites me, no point having a phone that you hate the look of, is there???
