Samsung X640 Review

The Samsung X640 is a beautifully sleek mobile phone with a clam shell opening mechanism. The X640 comes in a silver coloured casing with a black coloured high gloss section on the front of the casing. This phone is very compact & light which weighs eighty five grams. The X640 is part of the Samsung X range family & looks very similar to the Samsung X460 which has an external screen but has no built in camera.

The X640 comes with great messaging facilities which include MMS (multimedia message service) messaging which allows the user to send photos, images, sound & text all together in one easy to send message. The user can send SMS (text messaging service) messages which allows the user to send text only messages & EMS (enhanced messaging service) messages.

The Samsung X640 comes complete with snowball fighter game & bubble smile games already pre loaded on the phone. The phones comes with forty polyphonic ringtones which allow the user to select their favourite tune for incoming calls & alerts.

The built in handsfree speaker is a very useful feature which offers the user more freedom when making & taking a call. The phone can measure the background sound around the X640 & alter the sound volume & clarity to ensure that the user is getting the best sound quality available. The phone comes with a vibration alert feature which is very useful to have when the user is in very quite situations.

The phone comes with a good quality internal 65k colour screen (128 x 160 pixels) which is perfect for displaying all of the photos taken with the built in VGA camera. The camera comes with 4 x digital zoom & some great photo effects & frames. The user can select a multishot option to allow them to take multiple shoots or they can select a nightmode option that allows them to take a perfect night time shot.

The X640 comes with some very useful personal information management features which include calendar, scheduler, to do list, clock, alarm, currency converter, calculator, memo book, stopwatch & count down timer.

This was my second phone & I've had it for 4 years & have had absolutely NO faults with it at all.

It might not have Bluetooth & Video Recording, but it's really simple to use & easy to work.

Perfect for people who just want to text & call.

THIS PHONE IS PANTS, the battery is completely rubbish & the camera is blurry. It is infact an easy phone to use though & a very good simple, first phone. I find the design smart but it's boring.

I seriously don't get why there are so much bad comments about this phone on this page! I have used this phone for a year & it works perfectly & I am not bored of it! Most phones that cost as much as this phone don't have as many features, so it's really good for its price. I LOVE this phone & I am planning to use it until it stops working.

Small, light & compact, even compared too many newer designs. With an excellent battery life. These are all important features for me when choosing a phone. Texting is OK but not as slick as my old Sony-Eric, & the BubbleSmile game has kept me entertained on those slow journeys to-&-from work.

This phone might not be the best in the market, but it does provide the best in whatever it does. The VGA camera isn't too bad & I've actually taken lots of great family pictures with it. You can't expect a mega pixel camera with the price the phone goes for. I'm the kinda person who's always busy & running around at work so I've had this phone for 6-8 months now & I've been abusing it a lot. You could see the physical abuse the phones gotten if you'd hold it, but its still works great! It hasn't affected the flip mechanism in any way whatsoever. The best thing about this phone is that its really simple to use. I also own a Motorola RAZR V3i & Nokia N93 but everyone always sees me around with the Samsung. Why? Simple answer. You want to carry around a Phone that you can actually use & can depend on. Not a phone that depends on you for protection from scratches. Personally, I don't like to use a phone that id have to take care of 24 hours a day. Usually, high end phones like the Nokia & Motorola that I have need to be placed exactly right on tables & desks or wherever you place them to protect them from scratches or from breaking something inside them. But this Samsung? It may be a little outdated for some people. But I say that its one of the most dependable phones in the market today.

I'm a grandma & wanted a camera phone I could work & understand to take photos of children & also to send texts as that is what I do most. This phone does it for me. I find that I keep pressing the down arrow & deleting some of my input but apart from that, it's great. Sorry Samsung probably won't do your street cred much good having a good review from a granny!

I had been using this phone for almost 1 year & it is really average only...As time goes by, the phone become more lackey... the input of the sms speed is slow & the keypad is always giving me a headaches. Limited memory too... Of all, the function in this phone like the games & etc is still ok. If u have limited budget for a camera phone, this X640 might be a consider :)

I have had worse phones. It has got some nice ringtones & the camera isn't 2 bad either with the zoom & effects. The advantage of having 9Mb memory means you can save what you want. Its got an easy to use key pad which is handy when your trying to send a text message.

Not the phone I wanted but as my parents bought it for me there wasn't a lot that I could say about it. Had time to play with it & it is not as bad as I first thought, it is easy to use & the features are ok. It will do for now but I do plan to change it in the future & will try to not offend my parents too much, maybe I can swap it with one of my mates.
