The phone has good qualities for such a small phone, its surly a talking piece for people who haven't seen it. I have had about 3 problems I have had with the phone.

- Is that if you use up the phone memory I can't open text messages (it comes up failed).
- If you turn the phone off sometimes it starts to vibrate uncontrollably you have to put it in silent mode & than back to normal mode to stop it.
- It takes a while for the reception to come back up when it loses signal (very annoying).

This is the most compact & slim phone available in India to date. I have been using it for over 8 months now & haven't faced issues except the battery life if you use it without the casing. Voice reception is a bit low.

Overall a cool phone with all standard features. I do not recommend this phone at all. Please take into account that many others are having the same problems.

This phone is a catch to the onlooker that's awesome, Samsung must have their reasons why they built the phone with soft touch buttons it drives me crazy but a will get use to it, a classic for the class (males)that love to sport mobile phones.

The Good
When I first received this phone I was amazed, it's small, light, has all the usual features & is pretty easy to use. If you are buying one of these you obviously don't expect the battery life to be as good as a brick phone, you expect to make that compromise. When you take it out of your pocket the oohs & aahs from others around you are incredible!

The Bad
As someone else has noted below the signal or call quality is often bad even when it is showing full signal. You get snippets of the conversation even when the other person can hear you clearly. Sometimes it tells you have dialed an incorrect number & you have to turn the phone on & off again to get it working.

The Ugly
After I bought mine by brother went out & bought one second hand. After a couple of months the number 9 button stopped working properly on his, if texting sometimes it would work, sometimes nothing would happen, sometimes it would delete the previous character & sometimes it would just send the message without any warning. I assumed it was because he had damaged his phone. Now though, the number 7 has stopped working properly on mine, same symptoms as above & the number 9 seems like it is on its way out.

Recommendation, P320 please.

I have been using this for the last 6 months.

Pros :
- the Photo quality is excellent though it has 2 Mega Pixel camera, when you copy them to your PC you can enjoy the clarity. Lot number of options & modes are available & also has shortcuts but needs sometime to them easily.
- Video Recording quality is fine & is recording in various qualities depends upon the choice & the available MMC space. It is having good recording quality because of the MP4 format (like Nokia N73) but not 3GP (like Moto V3i).
- We can view the MP4/3GP converted movies in full screen if you press & hold # button.
- Getting 3 to 4 days backup if we use it along with cover battery.

Cons :
- Generating lot of heat even for a 2 minutes call.
- Very Weak battery backup (hardly 10 Hours) if we use the phone alone (without pouch battery).
- No hot swapping MMC facility.

Overall, a great design, small, compact & packed full of cool features. However, please note that there are some serious niggling problems with this phone:

- The touch screen buttons will continuously activate themselves when you are speaking on a call, this is particularly annoying when you are listening to voicemail & the buttons will activate phone features making it tricky for you to use your voicemail buttons.

- The phone intermittently jams & then restarts itself, though the restart is fairly fast, this can be quite annoying especially when it jams.

- The ring vibrator sometimes does not switch itself off & vibrates non-stop. Only way to stop this is to switch off the phone entirely & restart!

Please take note - at first sight, this is an amazing phone but after using it for nearly 2 months, I have found that the phone needs some improvements!

Very nice design, however that's the only positive thing to say about this phone. I bought it two weeks ago for half a fortune, however I am seriously considering switching back to my Nokia again, since the UI is bad & there is a big lack of features & functionality. Also it looses the connection when I drive (fast). :)

So if you don't care about money, functionality & quality, you should definitely purchase this phone.

I got this phone on 5/8/07. It's an awesome phone sleek, stylish, & snazzy. HOWEVER, the signal reception on the Cingular network is the weakest POJ (Piece of Junk) ever. I get ZERO reception around my apartment, parents house, grocery store, dog house, boat house, waffle house, etc (it doesn't matter where I am at). Also, I'll be driving to & fro & this phone will drop calls like mad (at least 33% of the time). If I didn't use my insulin money on this phone I'd drop it in front of my car & run over it a couple of times. Or maybe I should put peanut butter on it & feed it to my cat (nahhhh, her voice would most likely cut out during her meowwwws).

Samsung SGH-P310 is nice phone well designed. Before you buy the phone you should know what is wrong. There are two obvious problems with the phone:

- Battery life (the phone is really small therefore we can understand that the battery does not last long but even with the additional battery it last cca 3 days, I am used to Siemens or Nokia 6110 which last 14 days. )

- Big problem is software: Samsung invest a lot of money to hardware design but only a few dollars to develop software easy to use. The phone has quite lot of features but to use them is difficult or better to say time-consuming. For example - you can customised function for only 4 keys (why not all of the keys? ) + Custom menu BUT you can select only from a small set of commands! Why? Poor example when you want to record a message (voice recording) first you have to go thru many positions in menu. In my old SL-45 it takes only to press 1 button.

Another disadvantage is that when you close the leather cover & the you open it, the display stay black & you see nothing. Again you have to press button to see what's on the display. Why?

Pretty cool, but too small a screen, has the standard Samsung interface (of course that's the new one like the D900). The wallet tops of as an extra battery! Now that is soo cool! When you keep it in the wallet you get a double battery indicator. But I guess you found these things out already.

Anyways. Now for the BIG MINUS
Touch screen? That's rubbish! Only the top 2 buttons (select & back) are touch screen. & yeah you can't do anything by touching the screen anywhere else! Oh yeah you might get annoyed with the touch screen on the 2 buttons. Need to cover it wholly/try a few times!

Cam resolution is very good, you can click 2 pages of a book & read it painlessly,

You know the other features (or can find out) & look closely at the numpad, the zero is at an odd location.

I didn't get the rest of the pack yet, but it doesn't look like you get flexibility with skins & displays. Sooooooooooo boring compared to the other phones that have soooo much flexibility.

I feel if you got cash to throw, take it, but if you're a slim freak & need loads a power options this is absolutely cool, slim & so much power is what's attractive!

There needs to be a service Pack 1 to this! LOL ciao.

Classy phone, nice design - an eye catcher. Lovely bright clear TFT screen, nice colour resolution. Menus easy, navigating is Childs play. Two soft keys take some getting used to - you have to remember to touch & pause to get functionality. Browsing is as easy as on any of its peers. Features are let down in a couple of ways.

Why won't Samsung realise that people like to personalise their message tone?

If this phone is directed at the business user, why is it not capable of voice tags/voice dialing? Most business users have Bluetooth kit fitted to their Company car - voice dialing is a must!

The phone fits into a leather case which houses an additional battery. If you remove the phone from the leather case while it is switched on the phone will probably switch itself off. If you charge the phone whilst it is in the leather case, the backlight will remain on whilst charging, thereby putting very little charge in the case battery. I charged mine in the case all night & the case battery started flashing as empty after 10 minutes of standby (no calls made or received)! I obtained a replacement brand new wallet/battery as the supplier thought that the original one must have been faulty but the new one is exactly the same - it must be a design fault.

Whist out of the case the keys auto locks after about 3 seconds - really annoying as you end up unlocking it every few seconds!

In every other way the phone performs well & is a very able piece of kit. It's just a shame that there are a few niggles.

I just got the phone & I have to say that I am very happy with it so far. All my friends want it once they see it. For such a small phone it packs a lot of good features such the 2 mega pixel camera & a micrSD card slot. The screen is very sharp as well, better than a lot of the latest phones on the market right now. The only thing that I don't like about it (although you get used to it) is the soft keys (touch sensitive). Sometimes you have to press them a couple of times before it recognises your pressing them. Otherwise, this is a very smart phone & I would recommend getting it, especially if you want to be a bit different from the crowd.
