Hi I am peter this is a great phone, as I heard my friend say it, it seems to be an extremely good phone to people. Oh & I can't wait to get it for my birthday (24th June 2008) so if you take my advice buy it.

P.S how much does it cost again? I think it was about £40 to £60.

Nice little basic phone which is definitely good value for money.

But have any O2 pay & go customers worked out how to get their balance to come up yet? I.e. So it doesn't say 'not done'?

It's a fantastc phone & I cannot fault it. Anyone with common sense should buy this phone!

I have had the phone for a week. So easy to use seems like I've had it forever. As it is a touch phone you have to get used to not touching the control area when using it. That aside, everything else is perfect. It takes good pictures for a phone & reasonable quality video recordings. The memory is not over large, but a 2GB card can be purchased for under a tenner. This phone represents great value for money.

Hi I love this phone. As a girly teenager this phone just can't get any better in the looks department, it's a lovely pastel pink, the slide is smooth & the touch sensitive buttons light up when you slide the phone up.

It is really good value for money only 49.99 with O2.

Katrina, you can get it in blue too!

The features are great as well.

Umm. Hi. I haven't actually got this phone, I am just wondering whether or not to get it. I haven't had a phone before, & I want to be with O2 & pay as you go, but they only have the J900 in pink. My friend has an E900 & told me to get that, but O2 doesn't do E900s. Which is better? & how old is the phone, WHEN DID IT COME OUT? because I don't want an old phone. No offence! Thank you.

Great phone, looks good & I don't know anyone else who has one. Best Samsung I've had. Few problems with mine though, the paintwork is easily scratched, the touch is too sensitive but it does settle down after a while & sometime music won't play. Oh & the memory isn't too good, but for some reason mine is expanding.

To be honest the phone was good but I have only had it since Xmas & the screen broke. I loved the phone, absolutely adored it. It's in for fixing now & don't have a phone as this point in time : (. The camera's good, better than most cheaper range phones but the disappointing thing was the music it can only hold 3 or 4 song without a memory card I would recommend it as it's a great phone for everyone. Especially just for £60!

This phone is GREAT! Due to the fact it as all you ever need for a normal camera phone. The design is good, the features are awesome, however the one & only problem for the phone is probably the touch sensitive causing problems to ring people automatically. The good thing Samsung have done is actually letting the phone lock when you call someone, so when you put it against your ear it won't cut off.

It is a good phone but the one thing I don't like about it is you can't set your own message tone, the phone gives you 4 to pick from & you have to pick one. The sensitive touch pad is too sensitive. It allows a memory card & also has a good amount of phone memory.

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but I can only imagine people have had faulty phones. I love this little phone! It's so much better than I imagined it would be! I still haven't read any instructions & have found it very easy & fun to use. (I was lucky enough to already have a memory card though) the only negative thing I would agree with others is that the camera isn't very good but at least it'll be able to have the pictures uploaded onto anywhere. EVERYTHING else is just the user being silly!

Very good phone, pretty, sleek & stylish. The touch buttons are easy to use once you get used to them, & the backlighting on all the keys is very cool.

A few little niggles:

- the annoying sound after your balance notification.
- Not being able to check my balance without sending a text (balance number won't work for some reason).
- Not being able to set your own text alert sounds.
- When accidentally leaving a text, you have to either save it as a draft or lose it forever.

Other than these minor inconveniences, which you learn to live around, it's an awesome phone, & all for £60, well worth it!

I have just got this phone, would recommend it to anyone. Touch buttons are fine just takes a bit of getting used to. I found it kept going on to the Internet by itself when I pressed something but just slide down the phone & it will disconnect. Good quality camera, I found texting okay. Be warned you will need to get an SD memory card if you want to put more than 3 or 4 songs on the phone.

Overall would recommend this phone to anyone! Hope this helps.

The j600 is good my let downs are the ear piece for the radio keeps falling out of my ear the ear piece is to hard & will not blend with a person ear, if it had been softer it could mould to the shape, the other thing is the cancel key is easy to activate & you can cancel text, so I use the PC to send messages, but apart from that it is a nice phone with oodles of options well worth the money.

Once you find your way round the menus & explore the different options you won't regret buying it. You can alter the sound, fonts, display & the rocker switch where the I is gives you more scope on the options, but this is not mentioned in the manual as are other items, so the manual could be more explanatory, on the controls.

My requirements from this phone were a little different to other reviewers here because I bought it just for calling, Bluetooth & texting. I have a digital camera & MP3 player & I don't need a phone to do all this stuff. People sometimes complain about the imaging & sound on mobiles but my take is: use the proper kit that's been designed for it. Mobiles simply do not give you the same technical spec or quality.

Some points, I got the prompt about only storing 10 text messages too. The way I get round it is to go to the bottom of the SMS menu & create folders to store messages.

The touch sensitive pad took some getting used to. With some dexterity & practice I've finally cracked it. In all honesty, this phone is not for ham fisted people.

When I tried to download files to the handset, I was hoping they'd go straight to the phone's main memory, but I got a prompt that they would only load to the memory card (which you have to buy separately). Not terribly handy.

I use speakerphone a lot & am finding that when the slide is open, it keeps locking, what happens is that I miss the first part of a call while repeatedly attempting to unlock it, select options & go to speakerphone.

Other than that, these are just small niggles & I like the phone, certainly a lot more than the Motorola W375 I ditched in search of a better handset. It's a sleek design & a good basic phone for business & social communication.

Nice phone, just bought mine from Argos for £49.95, Virgin, in black, my daughter bought it in blue from Virgin for less (with her credits). She uses her phone to the maximum & has to charge up every 4 to 5 days, I use mine a great deal less, but I have to charge the phone every 2 to 3 days.

Only had the phone for 10 days, the phone spec stated there's 300 hours standby time (12.5 days) I think they have greatly over stated this, or is there a manufacturer's fault? Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

This was a good deal (I thought) from Virgin £10 a month for 100 minutes & 100 texts, & the phone free. I was not very impressed with this & it's going back. You can only play one music track at a time, after several days of trying to play an album I rang Samsung & they confirmed this, they said it's not like an MP3 player, well OK so it's primarily a phone but my main reason for upgrading from my 4 year old Nokia was so I could play music. As well as this it doesn't seem to transfer the music from my memory card into the Music folder & I ended up having to play music direct from the memory card which involved several steps to get to it, even though there is a Music shortcut on the handset. This is in fact useless as it will only contain two tracks.

You can only set one of the four text message alerts preset on the phone which are all annoying.

I have rung Virgin & am swapping it for the Nokia 6300 & breathed a sigh of relief!

Great apart from the music. The music folder only holds 2 tracks so you need a micro SD memory card. BUT if I transfer music to the memory card there is then no facility to add it to the playlist (no it doesn't sound right does it), so I thought, OK I will play music directly by accessing the memory card & pressing play. But then it will only play one track at a time, you have to scroll down & press play again. It won't just play the whole album. This is driving me insane! I am beginning to think I made the wrong choice of phone here as my main reason for switching from my old Nokia was to get an up-to-date one that played music. Has anyone got round this? Or do I take it back & get another Nokia?

Very good looking phone, sleek & small.

The slide mechanism is very sturdy & well made. The 4 touch sensitive buttons are sensitive but not too sensitive, especially once you are used to them.

The menu setup is easy & clear, despite was others have said & I had no problems finding any features. The 1.3 megapixel camera is what you would expect, decent but not great but if you want a camera, buy one, not a phone. The only slight problem is the lack of a flash.

The MP3 is very clear & loud. Someone mentioned that you need to keep the earphones in to listen to the radio on speaker, so what? You are provided with them in the box so it's no problem.

The software provided was also very easy to install & use, meaning I could easily copy & paste my contacts rather than having to add them all again.

Overall this phone is extremely good value, especially if you buy it from virgin as you get 800 free texts with it.

I got this phone free with a £10 a month contract from Virgin (only available to Virgin Media customers). Love the looks, very stylish. I have never had Bluetooth, MP3 player or camera on previous phones. Love the Bluetooth facility & it connects with my laptop no problem. Don't think much of the camera but I am not bothered as I have a really good camera already, but finding the music is not easy, put in a new 2GB MicroSD card & it didn't detect the music. HOW DO YOU DO THIS?

By the way if you wear fake nails the touch screen buttons are hard to control its annoying but you still get used to I.e. In all this phones great it could include a more wider range of features but it all ready has most of them.

AS I SAID THIS PHONE IS GREAT! IF YOUR one OF the PEOPLE THAT ARE READING THESE TO SEE WHETHER YOU WANT TO BUY IT OR NOT You Definitely SHOULD TRUST ME IT IS WORTH IT!

In response to the many people who have had problems with the really annoying tone that comes through when a message has been sent, I've had the same problem & after trawling through the net & finding no answers, I've finally got it resolved. It's an issue with O2 (or it is on my phone at least) & cannot be switched off on the phone itself. It's the balance notifications that are sent by O2 after each message & at the end of each call. I contacted O2 customer services & they were able to switch off the notifications. No more problems since. Thank goodness, that daft little jingle was driving me up the left!

Hi All, I just happened to buy this phone as it was good looking. It was more of an impulse. This is my first non Nokia phone. Nokia is the most preferred brand in India (as per my experience of six years of mobile usage). It's an established brand just like Maruti Suzuki in India. People tend to go by the Goodwill the brand has, & refuse to look around. & no doubt, word of mouth has a better effect anywhere in the world.

I bought this phone in the month of December 07. Three days after I bought it, I lost it & I was very upset. Just imagine you buy a new phone & three days & poof it's gone! What would you do if it was any other phone (Nokia, Motorola) You curse your fate & fret over it? & you won't believe, I got it back after twenty days (of course some bloke had flicked it) & the moment he inserted his sim card, two of my friends got a notification. It had the person's contact number. Bingo! I got my phone back. Thanks to the amazing mobile tracking facility provided by Samsung. I was very happy. The only other phone that offers this facility is LG.

The phone has a built in memory of 20MB & I find it quite OK, because anyone who buys a phone would naturally go in for a memory card if they choose to listen to music all the while. The features are good however, it would have been happy if the phone had a louder ringing volume (which can be overcome if you have your favourite music as your ring tone, which most people do).

& don't believe the people who have given a bad review about the phone. The first thing a sensible buyer would do is, go through the user manual which obviously was not done by anyone complaining below.

The software is clearly hassle free & three months into usage, I didn't find any issues with it at all. The talk time is about 3 to 3.5 hrs depending on the usage. (I normally charge it once in 2 to 3 days.)

This is quite an impressive mobile phone, it costs about 7 thousands which I believe is quite OK for a normal user. I wouldn't say it's a cheap phone as I own it myself :).

I bought this phone just after Christmas from O2 & was amazed at the low price. However, a couple of days later I found I couldn't use the MP3 & there was no sound apart from key tones. I had to take the battery out & replace every time, & there was still a doubt over whether it would ring or not, & a phone that doesn't ring isn't a great help LOL. In the end I exchanged it but a few days later it happened again, but since then it has been fine. I love the sleek design & the features are good, but I also had difficulty with the 1GB memory card, the computer program is difficult to use & it won't play songs downloaded from iTunes, just off CDs. At least I've bought myself a new iPod Nano so I don't need MP3 anymore LOL x.

The sound alerting you to your balance can be switched to vibrate on your sound settings.

My phone is letting me store more than 10 messages!
So don't know why people think that it will only store 10!

A light brush of your finger will get you on to your contacts, access the Internet, End & Start a call.

Be Patient with the touch screen buttons! Hope this helps!

The previous reviewers who complain about texting problems must have a duff phone. I have had no problems at all & have presently got 15 messages in my INBOX so what's this rubbish about only holding 10 messages. I have the disc loaded onto my laptop & can move info back & forwards from phone to laptop. It's all in the Samsung bit which I downloaded off the disc. You have to down load about 3 different bits off the disc.

I do have a problem with the browsing bit though & cannot access anything useful on the Internet. All I get is the O2 browser & some sky news rubbish.

This is a pretty looking phone. But it is also kind of rubbish. I've had mine just over a month & have been very careful with it but already many things have gone wrong, mainly to do with text messaging.

To start with, when using T9 I cannot write a whole message out because by the time I have written about the third line of text it is all deleted, sometimes with the occasional letter left in place. It seems to favour the letter c.

Next, my speaker decided to work only occasionally, which means my phone has to be on vibrate all the time in case the speaker fails again. This does not however, affect the sound in phone calls, just message tones, call tones, MP3 etc.

Next, I began to notice the touch sensitive buttons becoming slightly unresponsive & needing to be pressed a few times before they register a command, however this is juxtaposed with the cancel button being over sensitive.

& Finally. The most annoying problem for me, I can no longer write text messages. Full stop. I had to relearn the art of non predictive texting, which is very annoying, only to have my phone freeze whenever I try to create or reply to a text message. I HATE THIS PHONE!

My advice is too not buy this phone. Even when it is functioning perfectly well it still leaves a lot to be desired, (bad MP3 sound quality, horribly awful camera quality etc) but when it is not working it is the most worthless piece of rubbish I have ever encountered in the world of phones.

Great looking phone, but the touch sensitive keys are a nightmare. Unless you are as dextrous as a pianist with really skinny thumbs I'd steer clear. I had to send it back because my thumbs kept hitting the 'cancel all' touch sensitive key by mistake (it is right next to the scroll buttons & so really easy to hit by mistake). Girls with skinny thumbs & long, pointy thumb nails might manage OK, but I would seriously recommend all guys give this one a miss. There's no point in a great looking phone that you just can't use.

Don't buy it please! If you have doubts, try it first at the shop, people thinking it is usable have never used any Nokia or Sony Ericsson!

Just try to send a simple text & you will see how a nightmare it is, by default it requests an email address, after changing some settings the problem was solved, but the only thing I need when I finish a text is one click to get in a last contact list & a second click to get the address book.

Here it considers by default that you will send the text to several persons & you have to select several options to get the message sent.

I did not know it was still possible to find a phone with a so bad configure & usability.

So far I am much happier with it, although the touch screen thing is a bit of a pain & I have cleared whole texts by mistake several times. I suppose it's just getting used to it, generally though I've managed to navigate around quite easily & without the instructions. The clarity of the sound during calls is brilliant. Not really interested in the music side of it, I have an iPod for that, but the camera is quite important to me. The delay between pressing the button & the picture being taken is quite long & so far my attempts have been quite shaky. Apart from that I like it a lot. Oh & did I mention it was pretty!? anyone know where to get a stylish none crystal case for it?

Though a 1.3MP camera, the clarity is like 5MP or so, music clarity is remarkable but not very loud. After all it's a mobile phone, not a loud speaker! Voice recording is very clear, & so is the screen resolution.

Never the less, the most flamboyant looking phone in its class. Perhaps even among higher models. The touch keys are very amazing & interesting to use. They are neither too sensitive nor too less sensitive. All in all, JUST BUY IT OFF!

Got this phone for my Christmas as I found great reviews on this website & it was a reasonable price. Went to buy it in the 02 shop & found it had gone down in price to £49.99 from £59.99 on the 2nd of December.

In response to Cdr reviewer from Liverpool, UK, if you want to listen to music by an MP3 player, these days they are £10 & only weigh 10g! Cameras are in mobiles these days to capture those moments when you do not have a camera with you. The one on the J600 is 1.3 megapixel, pretty good for a £50 phone! Earphones are needed for the radio as they are needed as they find signal.

A great phone all in all. Touch sensitive buttons easy to get used to & slider is amazing!
