This is my second G600 gave the first one to my partner, best phone I have ever had, camera excellent, text buttons are very good though sometimes some letters fail to register.
All in all a magic phone fully recommend it.

I really like this phone, compared to my other phones the screen display is really clear & I love that you can customise your own themes instead of just going with the boring ones. I do wish it had more memory & you can't customise your message ringtone, but the camera is really good & only blurs if you enlarge it or take the picture in a certain light. You can have really good special effects for pictures too. & anyway, with the memory I bought a 2GB memory card for just £6.95 & it works perfectly. & I don't get why people are saying you can't turn the ringtone volume up load enough, when I turn it up to number 14 it hurts my ears! Oh, & just in case you needed it there is a really good conversion section for all types of currency, weight, length, volume etc that has come in really handy.
Overall, I am really glad I chose this phone because although it has some faults let's face it every phone does & this one is better than most.

Although not had much experience with other makes of phone, this is a great phone, does what I want it to do. Not yet tested camera fully though, one of the features I really wanted. One problem, when I have Bluetoothed photos from my computer to the phone, it has saved them in other files instead of downloaded images. Does anyone know how I can move them to images? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This phone is great I have had it for 2 months now as before I had the Samsung U600 which was great as well & the D600 & the E900 but to me G600 & D600 are similar & U600 & E900 are similar if you get this phone get it in brown it is nice.

Manual useless, oh how I wish I hadn't bought this phone, it might look good but that's not what a phone is for.

I've had this phone a couple weeks now & I think it's great. The only problem I find annoying is that the back light dims & then brightens again when using the phone. Very strange & also I find that I have to press hard or several times on the side button for the camera function. Does anyone else have this problem?

Never buy this phone. It's lacking a lot basic features. Just for look & style, you can find much better options in other brands. 5 MP never judges its quality. Sound quality is good but you have to unlock your keypad whenever you want to change FM station or music track, because there is no keypad auto lock disable setting. You can't customise message ringtone. You can't upgrade phone, you can't add third party softwares, & there is a long list.

Had my G600 for 19 months now, didn't bother with an upgrade because I am more than happy with this phone! It does what it says on the tin, I am not a geek or technically genius but I can manage to work it!
Texting is a doddle, my phone NEVER switches itself off, camera is superb, music player is good, it's sleek & fits easily into pocket, bag, even fits in my purse!
Granted, you need to mess about with it to set it to suit yourself, the user manual is hopeless. But it's half the fun when you get a new phone isn't it?
Reviewer: Fraser Robertson - Tillicoultry, UK

On the surface the G600 should be a great phone but sadly I find it very poor for many reasons. Take the calendar alarm, you enter the calendar event, scroll down to alarm & tick the box then it says BEFORE, before what? Then you realise this is the alarm time before the event. There is a choice of Minutes, hours, days, weeks. Seems OK but you only have a choice of 0 to 59 minutes. Or 0 to 23 hours etc. If you want to set the alarm for 75 minutes, 1 hour & a quarter, you cannot. It throws up an error message. Samsung are aware but to date they have not resolved the situation. There are other issues which are annoying but are of less concern in my case, my calendar is vital & have to constantly compensate by changing start times to accommodate alarm times.

Got the pink Samsung G600 free with the Virgin £8.50 a month contract, great value as I get 100 minutes & 100 texts, which is fine for me as I don't use the phone that much. It's quite sophisticated, although the advanced features are a bit wasted on me! I've always had a Nokia phone so this took some getting used to, on the plus side I like the slide feature, & the sound quality is good. I've found the battery life to be quite long. Radio set up is a bit complicated but works OK (but the earphones provided with the phone are awful! ). Camera is good, although it really isn't 5 megapixel quality because the lens is poor.
Sadly, lots of bad points as far as I am concerned. The main issue is with the predictive text, & I am glad to see I am not alone in having problems with this, I thought it was just me. The default seems to be standard abc text, & while it's easy enough to change to predictive text when creating a message, I always forget & end up with a line of random characters before I realise, so then I have to start again. I called Virgin mobile about this & he said the handset must be faulty, they sent me a new one, but it's just the same. I also agree with the comments about the dictionary not storing new words. & it sometimes just freezes in the middle of me writing a text, so I have to go back to the main menu & start again. The text alert options are very limited as well. The vibration is so subtle you have to be very close to the phone to notice, & the 'vibration plus melody' isn't much better. Also if you're not in the same room as the phone when you get a text or a message & don't hear the tone, there's no indication until you open it up that you've had a text or message, I've got round this by having a repeat alert every 2 minutes but that can get a bit irritating!
The USB or power connector cover seems flimsy & I imagine it won't last long, also there isn't what I'd call a normal headphone socket like I have on my Nokia, have to plug the headphones into an adaptor & then plug that into the USB socket, which makes for rather a long & awkward cable.
To conclude, while this is a nice looking phone, the disadvantages for me outweigh the advantages. I've persevered for 2 weeks now but I think I'll be going back to the Nokia.

A great phone really nice & you can turn off features or turn them on that are listed above. I have had the phone for about a year now & am extremely pleased. Have fun.

On the positive side. The phone looks good & is a nice size & weight so it feels nice in your hand (maybe suiting men more than women).
It lacks the rarely used, battery sucking features that exist on iPhone's & equivalent & so you get good battery life making it a good business phone rather than a kiddie's toy.
I like the slide design because there is no danger of making calls by accident & sliding to unlock is better that having to find those pesky buttons to unlock a normal phone. Actually unlocking without sliding open is easy on this too as the buttons are close together. I used to have to hunt on my Nokia. Also answering a call by sliding open is easier than having to look at phone & press a button.
It is mostly intuitive to use, has well laid out menus, good features, a decent sized screen & all easily customised to suit different people.
However. There are NIGGLES which detract from the overall experience of using this phone & having read some of the other reviews I know I am not alone. Also I am on my second phone (at first I thought I just had a dodgy handset so it was replaced) so I know there are flaws in the phone or firmware & not just a one off.
Predictive Text. It's clever in that it learns what combinations you personally use more frequently BUT it fails to store new words that you add. It says you can ADD a word but it sometimes stores a word for only a few hours & I can't work out if this is because it has like a 5 word memory so when you store a 6th word it loses the 1st one. For this niggle alone I would gladly swap this phone for a bog standard Nokia. You quickly learn not to bother Adding words but if you do decide to, it firstly doesn't carry across the predicted word to maybe save you some time, & it defaults into CAPS mode which is annoying.
Switch your phone off (mine occasionally has done this while it was in my pocket) & then back on again & you will lose your message settings. If you don't want sent texts saved & you have unticked keep a copy then you have to go back into this screen each time you power up your phone & although you don't have to untick the box again, you have to save the unchanged setting! Rubbish! & you can't stop MMS sent messages being stored.
The keys don't always register even if they make a clicking noise & the auto-dim has a mind of its own. You can be texting in half light & it during a text it will turn screen on full bright, then fade, then bright & it will switch keypad lights on & off which makes it irritating.
You can't slide the phone shut until a text has been sent because it will put it in draft folder otherwise. This is annoying because you have to put phone in your pocket open or just wait.
The camera flash default setting is OFF instead of AUTO which is annoying!
Why is it that when I take this phone out of my pocket to answer it I always press Reject by accident? Maybe I can't blame Samsung for this but it never happened on any other phone I have owned.
This phone didn't come with a VISTA version of the software so you had to download it. Also the phone had to be reset to get it to interact with the software. Thankfully I found a kind person on an Internet thread had given the engineer menu keystrokes to do this & suddenly it started working via Bluetooth in my car too.
One last word about Samsung product support. When I said the phone was not bringing the address book through to my newish car (which should then display it on the in car sat nav screen) even though the D900 worked fine, they simply said it was not compatible because my car was Bluetooth Version 1 & the phone was Version 2. They said it would only work with version 2 headset.
Thankfully both O2 shop where I bought this phone & Ford were a lot more customer focussed & in the end the phone had to be reset & then worked fine with car, sending address book as a vcf file. So I am not a big fan of Samsung & unless they can fix the gremlins in this phone, I can only recommend it to people that don't text much.
So in summary Samsung, you need to iron your bugs out & get some customer-focussed people working in your customer service department or I for one won't be buying anymore Samsung stuff but going back to Nokia.

I have had several Samsung phones including E250, E370 (a cracker of a phone but microphone packed in) & D800 but the G600 is a great tool though texting is not great as buttons are too flat & sometimes various keys don't register then next time they are OK camera is A1 when set properly.

Email to Samsung. I received today a G600 which I purchased from Virgin & I have been with them for many years & I have purchased many Samsung phones E900, C300, E250 & U600 all of which I have been extremely happy with. I purchased the G600 for the camera & because all my previous phones have Spanish predictive text which is why I stick with your brand. To my dismay the phone has only 5 languages of which Spanish is not available to predictive text even setting the phone in Spanish does nothing for texting & there isn't even an option to insert letters with accents. The phone is useless for me as I spend 4 months a year in Spain & text in Spanish. Virgin were very helpful but when I rang your company the operator was not helpful & sounded as though he just got out of bed. I cannot return the phone because Virgin say it is not faulty.

I have had this G600 for 3 weeks now. Previous mobiles was always Nokia's.
The good points, a lot of phone for the money you pay, i.e. great looks, interesting features, nice menu's & easy enough to navigate around all the settings etc. But I must agree with many of the views here.
Bad points, 5 mega pixel camera is no better than a 3.2 even after transferring to my PC, & the dictionary & text messaging is a complete nightmare. Really is a pain & just not a pleasant experience. Slow processing speeds on top of useless or missing connectivity apps make this mobile no more than a sleek looking FM radio & music player that is really capable of only making a phone call reliably! Samsung has clearly overlooked the basic user friendly functionality of this phone for fashion & style only.
I will be returning to Nokia a.s.a.p. & would not really recommend this mobile to anyone unless what you want is smart looks only!

The 5 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA IS USELESS! PICTURES ARE BLURRY, I HAVE A PHONE WHICH HAS A 3.2 MEGAPIXEL CAMERA. & the QUALITY IS FAR BETTER! IT IS VERY SLOW TO TEXT AS WELL, HOPELESS! WHEN I ACCESS the MUSIC, IT SWITCHES ITS SELF ON & OFF. IT LOOKS NICE BUT THATS the ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT IT! DO NO BUY IT IF YOU ARE EXPECTING GOOD CAMERA QUALITY BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT GET IT.

I needed a new phone & I wanted one with at least a 5 megapixel camera & an MP3 player. Well what a shock I got the camera is useless it is so slow by the time the pictures taken the subjects moved & you have a blurred picture & you can't change this. The MP3 player is also useless however you put your albums on there they come up in alphabetical order & you can't change that either. Also the auto flash does not save so every time you want to use it you have to reset it. Samsung PC studio software is totally unusable. The only good thing about this phone is it looks nice but looks alone don't make it worth £90 plus.

I've had this phone for a couple of weeks now & although it's generally very good & an improvement on some of the phones I've had in the past I still have a few complaints.
- the texting. It drives me insane! The predictive text memory is small & very very forgetful. It also consistently changes the order of words to each combination according to frequency of use & which one you last used. I am a very quick texter, or was, but the response from the keys is extremely slow & you end up typing out complete nonsense because it doesn't put the spaces in where you want them. When you want to add a word it is automatically set to all capitals, why? & although I'll set it to T9 predictive frequently, two or three new messages later it's forgotten & reverted back to ordinary texting. This is probably the main thing that irritates me.
- the camera. I know my way around cameras in general & I've played round with the resolution & other settings many times & still ended up with poor results similar to my old phone's 1.3MP. However the pictures DO end up looking better when on a computer screen, but.
- Samsung PC Studio, not at all user friendly & the version that came with this phone clashed with my old version & wouldn't install properly.
- Message tone. Really hard to change, I have no idea how to do it, thankfully my phone is mostly on silent which makes it less of an issue but when it isn't the ringtone it comes with is annoying.
- Slow response generally. I've had to turn off any fancy menu transitions as it often freezes mid transition.
Anyway, despite all my grumbling it remains a very good phone without irritating touch screen or touch pad like other Samsung phones. It's also very resilient, although the screen scratches easily & smudges show up grotesquely. It has lots of useful features, e.g. Calculator, converter, stopwatch, as well as alarms, a calendar which can show up on your home screen, complete lifesaver, good MP3 player, voice recorder, few games & many more. You can also create your own theme which is really nice & there are a lot of features you can play with & change around.

I have my G600 on a 24 month contract. The phone keeps freezing, the texting is a nightmare & the dictionary isn't storing anything for more than 24 hours. It types a word twice, & sends repeated delivery notes for one message. Took it back, & it was sent to Samsung for repair. It came back 2 weeks ago, still playing up with a few more party tricks to add to its repertoire. I took it back again & was given a replacement, which, surprisingly enough, is doing exactly the same thing as the old one. My daughter's phone is fine, so it must be a G600 thing. I will be taking this one back & asking for something different. I need a phone that is responsive & reliable. & this model doesn't seem to cut it.

- Great phone easy to use, got everything you need.
- Predictive text doesn't save!
- Took me bout 9 months to realise how to change message tone (you do this by going into phone profiles! )
- Camera is slow to take photos.
- Mine has just start to freeze sometimes, but it has been a year since I brought it!
- Has been dropped countless times & still works!
- Menus are annoying it's not easy to find things!
- Battery life isn't all that good.
- Don't see the point in the light sensor!
- But to be honest this phone is a good phone just showing the bad points here really but other than all that it is a good phone!

I've got the pink G600. I've had it for about a fortnight but I am considering returning it under Virgin's customer satisfaction guarantee. The camera is reasonable if you set it to the highest resolution but you can't edit photos on the memory card, you have to keep them on the camera & there isn't much room so I found I had to keep moving them about between phone & card. It's really odd because I took photos in portrait & they insisted on displaying in landscape until I rotated them back!
The PC software supplied is pretty rubbish, you can only read stuff on the phone, otherwise connect as a mass storage device but it wouldn't save photos to my PC. You can also connect to Windows media player to download mp3s but I want to choose what I download not have the software do it for me.
I hate not being able to choose an MP3 or voice recording as my message tone, everyone in the office has a Samsung & they all sound the same!
On my Motorola KRZR I can set any tune as message tone, alarm tone, caller id & I don't even need software as the KRZR connects directly to my PC via a mini USB cable & comes up as a removable disc. I can then share anything! Unfortunately next!

I've had this for now for just over a year. It has lasted & has been very easy to use. The 5 megapixel camera is really useful when your on a day out or something which makes it easier than carrying a huge camera. It has got a metal casing which means it can take a lot of bumping around. If you drop it the metal casing will save. Surprisingly the phone is light, It has also got a high quality music player. I WOULD recommend THIS PHONE. Cheap & you get more than what you pay for! Thumbs up!

I hate this phone. It's boring it has no good features or any good games it is dead hard to text one handed because the top is heavier than the bottom so tilts backwards. It is dead hard to put or receive anything from your phone the software is dead hard to use. It is dead slow when texting volume doesn't go very loud. Camera is dead blurry even though it's meant to be a five megapixel camera. I really want a new phone & I am stuck with this for 18 months.

I bought this phone because I got bored with my Nokia 6300. I wasn't let down. I absolutely love this phone, it is easy to use & does everything I need from a phone. The camera is great (when you get the settings right), the music player is good & I like the fact that the memory cards are hot swappable (swap them without taking battery out). The only problem I have with this phone is that you can't customise the message tone, you have to use one of the preloaded ones on the phone.
Overall, this is a great phone.

RE G600 PHONE FREEZING OR GOING DEAD OR CUTTING OUT WHEN SLIDING UP TO ANSWER CALLS OR WHEN PUTTING DOWN ON HARD SURFACES.
The problem lies with the battery being loose causing the phone to lose power (even the slide motion when answering calls is enough to break the connection between battery & phone)& it is very easy to fix!
The phone will also appear to freeze up on occasion but it is again the connection being broken between battery & phone.
Please follow easy steps below & you will learn to love your G600 again!
- Remove back cover.
- Remove battery.
- Look for the gold contacts on the battery.
- On the curved edge opposite (where the S in the word SAMSUNG is) wrap several pieces of sellotape 2 centimetres long on top of each other so that they start at the S on one side of the battery & finish on the other side where the white stripe containing the serial number of the battery is. You may need more or less tape depending on its thickness.
- Refit battery into phone, the battery should be a tighter fit which will ensure the contacts on the battery & phone have a good connection.
- Refit rear cover.
- Turn on phone & try sliding it & putting it down firmly on hard surfaces.
Any problems please post here & I will explain better if needed.
Kind regards Jason.

This is one of those models where the manufacturer has clearly put a lot of thought & consideration during the design stage, so much so that they missed some complete no brainers.
First thing that struck me about it, is how smooth the exterior of the phone is. This is in no way a good thing as you need some kind of spider like grip to open it without smudging the screen. Got gloves on & get a text? No chance mate, you have to open the phone with your chin.
Secondly, we'll get into the phone. Great menu design. The display & infinite custom options boggled my mind. The interface looks just like how I'd want it to. Big characters also give the phone a real modern feel.
Next, I want to send a text. One of the most frustrating features about this phone for various reasons. Having had this phone for a couple months now, I can comment on how awful this is.
- the dictionary, you add words to it, it forgets them within a week. What's the point? I am sick of having to add the same word every week!
- the buttons are hardly responsive. I try adding letters quickly & it just misses them out. Especially with the dictionary, this can be irritating (or Gritcti if the phone misses out a letter).
- Memory, the phone can only store 100 messages. WHY? This isn't 5 years ago. Phones can hold more than 10 MB you know! I hate not being able to read a message until I delete some.
Onto the camera, I like the options given to me, however, I believe this has nowhere near the specs it's claiming to have. I've had a Sony with about 2 megapixel less than this one & the quality was better.
As for viewing the images, oh, don't get me started. If your pictures are stored on the memory card, you can't use half of the viewing features. Obviously if you take a lot of pictures, you'll need that card. You can't view the pictures in a slideshow, you can't edit them.
It's rubbish!

I have had Nokia phones for the last 8 years since a switched from Motorola & was generally getting fed up with the poor reception I was getting compared to my friend who has a Samsung phone. All in all I liked the features of the phone however when it came to setting it up on the laptop to have all the synchronisation features I was horrified to find that even the latest version of the software from the Samsung website does not have the latest VISTA compatible drivers. Wahoo I am just so excited about this phone. I just hope the reception makes it a worthwhile purchase.

Or lack of. I bought a SIM free version so I know it's not a T Mobile issue. It appears to only work outdoors!
Secondly, predictive text messaging. Due to the phone's design, it's incredibly top heavy when the slider is up leaving a flimsy keypad to text with which is difficult to navigate around. Then there's the annoying bleeping sound when the text has been sent (which I cannot turn off despite the fact that my keypad is on silent) & god forbid you should close the shutter too quickly as your text message will be consigned to the draft folder! & another thing, how come when adding a word into the dictionary which is the start of a sentence, why oh why do I have to reselect it start with a capital letter!
Thirdly the 5 megapixel camera, 5MP my backside! It's impossible to hold one handed, takes an age to take the photograph by which time everyone has moved & you end up with a blurred shot. The flash is not automatic & when you change the setting, the next time you access the camera its defaulted back to no flash setting!
Fourthly, the alarm clock. Yes it works fine but when the alarm goes off why does it not give you an option to switch the alarm off permanently? I've lost count of the amount of times the damn things gone off on me on 6.30am on a Saturday morning because I've neglected to go back into the alarm menu & switch it off.
Then there's the black screen which gives no indication that a message has been received unless you open the slider!
In addition to the above, when I first purchased the phone I wasn't able to send or receive photo messages. I had to find a link on the Internet to enable this function which has worked automatically with every other phone I owned. I've also paid for a download which I cannot use as a ringtone without a memory card! Again this has never been an issue with any other mobile I've used.
Thankfully my contract is due for renewal in a few months & I can get back to a user friendly, intelligent Nokia or Sony Ericsson! DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE UNLESS YOU WANT A HEAVY HOUSE BRICK FROM WHICH TO RECEIVE CALLS!

The Samsung G600 is everything a mobile phone needs to be stylish, discreet, reliable & practical. The slick sliding motion which Samsung have made their own adds style as well as discretion to the phone, since this allows it to be compact when not in use, but means that the phone is of a good size & comfortable to hold & use when needed. The 5.0 megapixel camera captures photos as well as any of its rivals, including the much glorified K810i cyber shot, which I previously owned. The music player facility coupled with great inbuilt speakers & manufacturer supplied earphones means that this phone can quite easily be used as a substitute for an MP3 player, meaning both the phone & MP3 can go in one pocket instead of two. Texting & calling is easy & of the universal formula (green call button, red hang up button etc), so this is of no concern.
All in all, a great phone suitable for those looking to invest in a phone which looks particularly good, as well as those more concerned with reliability. If I was to have one complaint, it would be the slight stickiness of the photo & video menus. It can take a few seconds for the phone to cycle onto the next item, which can be a little frustrating, but this, in my opinion is very minor & well worth tolerating. A cracking phone & money well spent.

I love this phone. Have had it for about a month now & have had no problems with it until now. When someone sends a message which is more than one in length my phone doesn't tell me I have a message until I look in the inbox & there it is. However, I can only read the first half of the text & the second half just reads incomplete message & I can't read it, it's really annoying! Has anyone else had this problem or can help?
I have just deleted all of my inbox & sent box & have finally got the whole message through after asking the sender to resend for like the fifth time!

Looks good, does most things but it has a tendency to freeze up when pressing buttons, which is very annoying, you have to give it a few seconds to sort itself out also you cannot download your own message tones which I think this day & age you should be able to do as standard on any phone, overall a little bit disappointed with my purchase, but I guess I'll get by for a while until I throw it at the wall!

The only thing I find annoying is that there is no clock or message or missed call notice when it's in sleep mode, does anyone know if you can change this?

Got this for Christmas. It's a great phone, easy to use & well featured.
Reading the reviews here I can't understand how some people are unable to get the phone to work, e.g. Change ringtones to custom MP3 files, send messages etc. Either they haven't read the manual or are short of a loaf or too.
The only downer is you can't change the message alerts to custom mp3s.

AVOID THIS MODEL. Wouldn't play downloaded music, which was in the correct format, couldn't hear callers & ringer & phone kept switching themselves off. Exchanged it for same model, downloads wouldn't play, rang Samsung customer service dept. They were not good. That's another story! Eventually all they could tell me was info that was in the manual. They suggested I had the phone looked at by an engineer, had owned this phone for less than 24 hours, it was my second Samsung in a week so chose not to start having repairs & got a refund. Asked in several shops which phone they have least returns on & the general opinion was the Sony Ericsson w595. Bought it, it's fantastic. I warned friends & family not to buy the Samsung G600, 4 of them had previously had one, all had encountered problems & kept the phone for no longer than 2 months!

I have had this phone for 4 days. Having read the reviews I can relate to some of the issues but do not see them as major problems. There is an annoying shape on the bottom right of the phone that digs into your palm. The CD software is not usable on Vista. However I was able to download the software from the Samsung site & this also allows you to transfer music from your PC onto your phone. This then allows you to use these downloads to set as your ringtone! I have read lots of reviews on various sites & everyone has said it is not possible to change the ringtones. However I managed to do this today & I am very pleased as this is one thing that I thought was going to put me off the phone.

After trying all sorts of remedies such as uploading as much more newer software, uninstalling the programs, reinstalling, I finally discovered the fact that if I simply turned my phone off (whilst still connected to my PC) this resolved the issues regarding PC connectivity. Hope this is useful to all others experiencing this problem, because this piece of info is not mentioned in any of the Help or Trouble shooting guides, & would have saved me hours of bother.
Apart from that it's a really smart looking phone. I only brought it because of the 5 megapixel camera, & the fact that it had USB & earphones thrown in. Not bad at £80 from phones for you.

I got this phone today. I am on an Orange £15 a month contract. One thing I noticed is that I cannot get my minutes (how many I have left) by calling a number, this is a bit disappointing as I cannot register for the Internet, it will not let me & our Internet isn't the most reliable.
I give the phone a 90% design as it is smart & stylish. It escapes the 100% as you cannot use the camera without the phone being slid up.
I gave the features a 90% too. I did this because although it has Bluetooth & FM radio, etc, it does not have infra-red which means I cannot transfer pictures across from my Samsung E350 unless I use a MMS message but this costs 30p from my old Virgin Mobile phone.
I like the way this phone, on the menu, automatically hovers over the last thing you went on, that is clever. I also like designing my own themes! It is cool that you can choose the way you transfer to the menu (fade, door etc. It looks nice that they make the numbers look like handwriting (though on my friends phone, I can't remember what it is, you can choose what it is like which is even nicer). The best part is probably a memory card which I could not have on my E350!
If you are umming & errring whether to get this phone or not then I would say TAKE A CHANCE! The good points utterly outweigh the bad points! It looks nice, holds lots of memory, easy to text, BRILLIANT 5 mp camera, stores loads of contacts, comes with a funny song & more. It is well worth the money!

The one thing I didn't like are the 2 circle shaped buttons, they looked ugly but & didn't have that bigger use but I think they were useful for the phone. Also the on & off button should of been somewhere else & it was a bit weird pressing the end call button to turn it off. I like all the features the camera worked perfectly.

Had this phone for about five months. A few features took a bit of getting used to, especially the texting, but in general I really like the features of the phone & like its solid feel. I find the camera shutter a bit slow, but can live with it as photography is not my main concern. Also, was initially a bit disappointed that there is no place to connect a lanyard or wrist strap, but that is not too critical.
I have three main complaints, only one of which is on other people's reviews.
- Although the sound on the music player is excellent, I struggle to hear callers clearly, so I wonder if the aerial is faulty. I find I really spend a lot of time asking callers to repeat themselves. The J700, a much cheaper phone, has far better reception! I don't really need the music player, so would have appreciated better reception.
- Sometimes the sound is completely dead. A few times people have phoned, & although they can hear me clearly, I cannot hear them at all. If I then phone them back, I have the same problem, I still can hear nothing. Frustrating for the caller, & frustrating for me. The only way around it is to switch the phone off & on again, & it restores the reception. It is becoming quite an expensive problem as I keep wasting calls.
- I get frustrated constantly having to type the same word into the dictionary, it seems to have a very short memory! I see from other reviews that this is a common fault on this phone.
I am thinking of taking the phone back in the New Year to see if the reception can be improved.

As many reviewers have said previously here & elsewhere it's poorer than many 2 megapixel cameras of the previous generation of phones & then they really ruin it by making it really complicated to use.
The camera features are all accessed not by a handy up & down menu a la Nokia but no its accessed by having a different feature for each of the 12 keys when using the camera which you have to memorise to make it useful with no obviously return button.
The other item that annoys me is call quality which I've never really had a problem with before this phone as well a few minor quirks like the annoying connection tone you get when making a call.

& I use predictive text & it does not save the word, which is so annoying. I thought all phones done it, but not on this, so it have to keep re writing the word, it doesn't even know names. Grrr.
But other than that it is a very good phone & I really do hope that nothing goes wrong with it, because I am not the best with phones, & I really don't want this to break, if it does I really do give up with phones, is there a phone out there that nothing goes wrong with it, I haven't found it yet.
But good phone though, I still wish I had my Nokia back, but they are just as bad & they break all the time grrrr.

I wrote a review last month. In it I criticised the G600's Bluetooth capability regarding connecting to the Chrysler 300C built in car hands-free system. The car went in to the dealer after only 2 weeks to have the faulty SatNav software updated. NOW, the G600 connects perfectly, & sound is clear as a bell through the car sound system. My phonebook automatically downloads to the car system too as soon as I enter the car. The Bluetooth problem was my only reservation with this phone, I now withdraw that criticism as it was a Chrysler problem all along. Sorry Samsung!

Yes it looks good but I have had this phone for two days now & I hate it. I had an LG Shine before this & fancied a change & I wish I'd never bothered. For a start the software will not work on my PC, though I can still put songs on & off for some reason the phone puts then in different places & then its a nightmare to try & move them about to get them all in one place. Same goes for pictures. Can't change the message tone neither & it will not Bluetooth many of the things on the phone.
It does have some good features & the speaker in it is nice & loud but its not enough to sway me. Thankfully as a virgin customer I can change my mind & send the phone back & choose something else.

Nice phone for the first couple of months until the slide goes loose & feels disgusting. The phone also suffers a few crashes when I am texting etc. My camera has recently broken too, it has clouded up. The camera is also one of the worst 5 megapixel cams I have ever seen. My Mums 3.2 cyber shot is better. I do not recommend this phone!

Well I have had this phone for 4 weeks & at the moment it's back with T Mobile being repaired. For some unknown reason it keeps turning itself off but won't restart unless I physically turn it on. VERY ANNOYING!
I bought this phone due to the 5 mega pixel camera, what a load of rubbish! It clearly is not 5MP more like 2! Complete con.
Predictive texting, the phone just doesn't remember the words you type in. Drives me crazy.
You put the phone down & it scratches to death, it's in my bag with a purse & lipstick & by the look of it it looks like I've thrown it around the room.
I have used Sony Ericsson for the last few years & fancied a change, BIG MISTAKE! I would not buy a Samsung again EVER!

The problem I have now is that is had turned off again & won't turn back on. Have lost my contacts that had been saved on the phone due to the SIM being full. They are not on the memory card where I thought they would be.
Any ideas for how to get them back.

I bought this phone for two main reasons.
- I wanted a real-button phone having had touch sensitive button phones which are very annoying as they can be touched so many times by mistake (Samsung U700 & E900).
- A phone to connect to the hands free system built into my new Chrysler 300C (UConnect).
This phone is perfect in every way ,good interface, easy & smooth keyboard with good accessibility to all the keys (unlike the U700), & simple to use real buttons. Battery life is excellent compared to my U700 which was terrible.
Absolute disaster! The phone will pair, but will not connect to my car Bluetooth system, even though it will pair & connect with my Bluetooth earpiece. My U700 connects perfectly straight away.
If you want this phone to call people & receive calls in the normal way, it is great. If you want to connect to a hands free car system, forget it. It takes good pictures, but has a strange saving system. Also, it can be very slow. If you want Bluetooth, get another phone. If you don't want Bluetooth, it is well worth considering.

The phone definitely looks fantastic, colour & weight is good. I do like slide phones! The camera is OK, I am not too sure about the 5 megapixel claim, maybe in great light only! & it does take ages for the shutter to click. All this isn't a real problem for me, what really really does annoy me though, is the texting. As people have mentioned, it'll randomly change from predictive to tap, & it'll only remember new words for a couple of days maximum. This does need sorting out. Also, the emoticons & clip arts are rubbish, my last phone, Motorola RAZR had the best ones, this is obviously just preference.
Lastly, again more a personal preference, but I would like to be able to choose my own text tone from songs etc & have reminders every 5 minutes instead of 2.

I bought this phone to connect to the Uconnect hands-free system in my brand new Chrysler 300C (1st Sept 2008). Unfortunately, a shame because I prefer a phone with physical buttons (G600) rather than the touch sensitive buttons (U700).
Surprised there have been complaints about no USB cable or headphones. I got mine from Vodafone & both items were included in the box as standard.
unfortunately, the phone will have to go back for a refund.

I bought this phone today. My main complaint is that whereas I had strong reception at home with my previous phone (a D600) I can only get reception in the corner of one room in the house with this G600, despite using the same SIM card. Is this a common problem?
I am also disappointed that the USB cable & headphones do not come with the phone, you have to buy them separately. Carphone Warehouse did not tell me this, & I only discovered it when opening the box at home. That is another £30 on top of your purchase price. The FM radio only works with the headphones as they act as the aerial, & I think it is outrageous that these two items are not included.
The camera has exceptionaly slow shutter speed (the picture is taken long after you press the shutter by which time there is usually no point in taking the picture as everyone has moved on) but the pictures are good resolution, you need to change the setting on the camera to the largest size picture to get the good resolution. Samsung factory set the lowest resolution as standard to save memory space.
This is an OK phone, but not a great phone. My D600 was better, including better icon graphics, clearer text & better ringtones. Disappointing, expected a step up from a newer model, not a step down.

Fantastic phone, read some other reviews before buying it as this was my first ever Samsung. Opened the box & got it all set up & running & I have to say I am pleasantly surprised.
I initially bought this phone for the 5MP camera as I am a big photo taker, & as in other reviews may people have commented about the poor quality of the camera. I have to DISAGREE this camera is very good quality for a phone camera, for 5MP when I print my pictures off they come out great if you use the appropriate photo paper & inks.
The usability is good, the menu system is slightly more complicated than other alternative handsets out there. With ringtone & message alert setting in profile settings & not call & message setting.
The music player is similar to that of an iPod with the ease of user ability & great sound quality. My only downside is that similar to many handsets is that headphones are required to listen to the radio as they act as an antenna with not in built antenna meaning carrying headphone attachment is essential if you plan to listen to the radio.
Overall, great looking phone, good usability & great features, however Samsung could have added a few more applications, easier menu systems & a built in antenna.

I had the U600 which I loved but then upgraded to the G600 which was a mistake! I thought with new phones came new technology which would make things easier, WRONG! This phone is rubbish at remembering words for predictive texting, for the umpteenth time my phone has suddenly lost all previously stored words which makes it frustrating especially when the older version never did this. Also when you do want to add a word you have to change from capitals to lower case, the older version didn't have this annoying feature.
I also seem to have the input method constantly change from predictive text to tap method despite setting this & double checking settings.
5 megapixel camera? I don't think so, the images are grainy despite ensuring all settings are correct & adjusting to different light, zoom, etc.
I hate this phone so am going back to the U600!

Just a word of advice for the person who said that they don't get delivery reports with O2.
All you need to do is put star zero hash at the beginning of the text that you are sending, with no spaces. This gives you a delivery report when you are on the O2 network regardless of which phone you have.

I just got it today. Firstly you must know that I am not a feature hungry person. I just wanted a good reliable phone with camera. It has 5 megapixels, autofocus & flash which compared to my Nokia N73 it is really good, which is a surprise since I thought that that phone was sold for its camera features. The menus are very easily navigable & just as easy as the Nokia phone (this was one of my worries, getting used to a new interface but really it's actually simpler than Nokia). I like the slider feature & the phone looks cool & sleek. The screen is nice & clear similar to my old phone. There are other features on the phone but I purposely wanted just a really reliable phone as I am aware the more features you pack into a phone, the more likely it is to go wrong (which is what happened to my old phone). So far so good.

Phones for you are not interested (they offer to repair it & don't just keep it for 2 weeks & say it is fixed) the phone is 8 weeks old & crashes daily, switches itself off when in standby not clever if you want people to call you! I am insisting on a refund.

The only problem I've come across up to now, is that I cannot figure out how I can change the number of times the phone will ring before it switches to answer phone. At the moment it only rings 3 times then switches & I am never quick enough to catch it! I've been into Answering Mode in Call Settings but can't change the time from the 1 SECOND that it's set at. However, it has greatly disappointed me as the keys don't function properly & find it very frustrating especially when I want to use speed dial, you press the number but nothing happens, so speedy it's not!

But got disappointed when I navigate to the ring tones, you just have so few almost nothing. He he he. It didn't fit my style. I thought at this kind of unit that is expensive it would have great ring tones to play with. Anyway I bought it so might as well get used to it. Didn't ask more questions, (my bad) he he he. Best camera of any phone I've ever owned & that includes the Sony Ericsson C902 & the Nokia N95, the VGA video recording is brilliant. However the handset is badly over weighted at the top because of the metal faceplate, this makes texting almost impossible. I don't text much, so don't mind but if you do avoid this phone.
Battery life & signal are good as is the music player. But unlike Sony Ericsson's you have to close the music player to do anything else, like take pictures or use the web browser.

I think it is really good in use not too difficult only a few downsides.
- I can't seem to be able to change text message tunes (& the standard is lame).

As for the camera slow shutter speed.
Try this: when your ready to take a photo just press the menu button, it's almost instant! The other bug bear of course is the rubbish message tones x 4, in this day & age its poor, especially for a form like Samsung. But there you are. We pay our money & take a chance.

There are quite a few problems with this phone. I am not sure if it's just mine or it's like this for many people.
- If you have the phone on predictive text, it forgets the words you have put in after a day or two.
- It occasionally switches itself off for no reason.
- The camera will only record for about 10 seconds even if you have plenty of memory in the card & you have set it to the lowest quality.
- The camera is not good for a 5MP. The Nokia N95 (I think?) is 5MP & the picture quality is so much better.
- The keys are not great for when you want to text. Even if you text a lot & your used to it you'll probably always miss or hit a button or it won't press in completely.
& ALSO. About number 3. Can anyone help me with that? (just in case it's just me & I have done something wrong) I'd much appreciate it if someone did help, please reply here. Thank You.

I like the look of this phone very much & it has a fair few functions. I bought it as I've been a loyal Samsung customer & my previous phones (D500 & D600) have been great. I was due an upgrade & I thought having a large megapixel camera would be handy, however, in reality the camera is practically useless for anything except landscapes or subjects that aren't going to move for several seconds after you have pressed the shutter, as the delay is ridiculous. What is the point of a camera that can't take pictures immediately, the D600 did? As for its 5 megapixel spec, it doesn't take any sharper photos than the D600, very disappointing. They are okay but not what I'd expect for a camera with 5mps.
That aside it sits nicely in the hand, & is fairly lightweight although it does get a bit top heavy with the slider open but you get used to it.
Battery life isn't too bad but of course once you start using the functions (especially the camera) it doesn't last too long. Mine lasted three days which included being turned off at night & on during the day. I fiddled around with the controls while I got used to it, made a few texts & calls, then spent a day at a show where I took about 55 photos before the battery died. In normal use I wouldn't take anywhere near that many!
Texting is okay but not quite as fast as my other phones & I find the list of words that appear on the screen in predictive mode quite irritating.
All in all a good looking phone which I think I'll get to like but I wish when manufacturers upgrade their products they would improve the software along with the design.

At first the style & design of the phone came across to me as very simple but it is very uncomfortable to hold in your hand. The overall features of the phone are alright. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! OK it looks stylish, though the buttons are not very nice for sending texts quickly. It has a 5 megapixel camera but the picture quality is not good at all though the software layout is good, a bit like Nokia. The games are very lame but that's OK if you don't mind that. The sound quality is also very good for conversations & the reception is pretty good also.
BUT, it keeps breaking down! I have been committed to a contract now for 9 months, & for the time, it has been under repair for about 4. Therefore I have been paying for a service I haven't got. It has broken three times now with the same problem, the buttons won't respond. You cannot rely on this phone, it broke down when I was on holiday, which was not good news at all!

The menus look like they were created on a Spectrum (old computer) I would have liked white text on black for texting. Given that this phone has a very high screen specification of 16 million colours, I feel Samsung have not taken advantage of this. The 5MP camera is, well best forget about it.
The phone is well made & feels nice in the hand, I like the more positive feel on the buttons, especially when compared to the U600 touch sensitive keys. It comes with a lot of extras including a 1GB memory card, although text messages seem to be held by the SIM card.

It has to be said it's a good looking phone but.
- Its heavy which isn't a bad thing because it makes it feel expensive but its top heavy so isn't well balanced in your hand & makes it easy to drop.
- the camera is not up to scratch for a 5 megapixel I have a 4 megapixel digital camera which performs better. Finding your way round also isn't too easy with complicated menus & sub menus.
- Samsung rarely alter their software go back to the Samsung D500 very very similar software OK they have changed the appearance of the software & added a few silly pointless accessories but on the whole similar.
- They need to take a leaf out of LG's book with their anti fingerprint coating on their mobile phones as this one always looks grubby when you touch it. Let's face it Samsung aren't exactly renowned for phone reliability.
- Sliding the phone isn't easy as there is no where to put your finger which means using the screen to slide it & it scrapes up the keys when sliding which scratches them.
- It has to be said though the battery life is much better than the likes of Nokia phones plus as I said it is very good looking with a decent sized screen & quality graphics.

We've been surprised how many of our user reviews have criticised the G600. The main complaint seems to be the camera. We can only assume that people are using the wrong camera settings (make sure that you set the camera resolution to maximum). The G600 may not be able to match the picture quality of the Sony Ericsson K810i or the Nokia N95, but it's still a darn good camera phone! The new Samsung G800 is an even better camera phone, incorporating an optical zoom.

Camera for 5 megapixel is pathetic. Usually blurry or you miss the shot because it takes so long to snap.
The texting is the worst. Can't keep up, doesn't remember words you add & worst of all, keeps crashing when I try to write a text. All my mates think I am being rude but I can't answer them! The crashing is now happening when I try to dial a number now also.
So, basically I have a phone I can't text with, can't make calls with unless it's a contact number, & can't take a decent picture. Way to go Samsung!

Also sometimes it doesn't register the slide & won't let me use the camera! Other than that I like the phone & I am hoping I'll just settle into it & it'll be OK. Any help is greatly appreciated!

My sent text messages which were automatically going into the sent folder, is not saving in the folder anymore. I have looked on the user guide, don't know what to do as I like keeping the record of what I have sent.
The user guide hasn't got lots of info.
Any ideas on what to do. Went into setting but not sure what to do?

Why oh why do Samsung always have trouble with phones.g800 thought had it all, no stupid touch screen button that deleted text when you was near finish writing it & the other one before that stupid key buttons that would always write the wrong word cause it was so sensitive, but oh no papa got a brand new bag, that turns it self off if you leave it for a hour & when you half way through a text, that's my favour bit. Good if its pay as you go cause you save sending messages, but no when I've got unlimited text. SAMSUNG PLEASE LET ME TEXT, can't wait for the next one, but do like the way your phones look Samsung.

I've only just bought this phone 2 days ago & I'm quite disappointed in the quality of the camera, because of acknowledging the fact it is 5 megapixel, I was expecting the camera to be brilliant but the settings never stay the same & the pictures are not that brilliant. The keypad is quite frustrating to handle with. The battery life lasts a long time & the music is quite good. It is very hard to find something in particular you want to activate for example speaker phone. The phone is quite chunky but still is very stylish. It's not pocket size but it's good. The signal is very hard to reach. I thought it was going to be an amazing phone but I guess it wasn't.

I have found nothing wrong with this phone & have had it for only 3 weeks. I haven't found anything wrong with the camera or texting, I don't mind having only four message tones to choose from. I have always had Samsung phones & never had a problem with them. My screen doesn't have a single scratch on it, maybe this is because I have bought a mobile phone sock to put it in so it is protected whilst it is in my bag. The memory could be slightly bigger but I got a memory card with it, including a USB cable & a set of headphones & this is all brand new. I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a stylish & compact phone.

I got a G600 for my girlfriend, I have found 2 things I don't like about it. These are big things that you should know about before you consider buying one of these.
- Games on the G600 are very slow. I installed a couple of identical Java games on both the G600 & my K800i. The games I installed were Lumines & Block Breaker Deluxe. The K800i plays both games extremely well, the G600 DOES NOT, it chugs along with a very jerky frame rate & hardly playable. I tried others with the same result, although it managed to play card games (Platinum Solitaire) fairly well.
- the camera, using max settings with auto everything in low light conditions, the photos are very grainy & slightly blurry, my K800i with its 3.2MP camera makes far better job. Everything pin sharp & only very slight graininess. In good light, the G600 is slightly better but still not a patch on the K800i.
My girlfriend is highly disappointed with the camera as she initially had a high opinion of Samsung phones. Not anymore. I am getting her a Sony Ericsson camera phone as a replacement.
There are other niggles that I have not addressed here, read the other posts for details.
To sum it up, the G600 is a jack of all trades & by all means. Master of none.

Tomorrow I will be taking delivery of O2's third attempt at getting me a phone which works. This phone switches itself of at random intervals & even decides it is charging up when not plugged it, clever!
Basically I would NOT recommend this phone, when it is on its fabulous but these occasions are rare & vastly outweighed by how irritating it is when the bloody thing won't come back on & just flashes the O2 logo at you before saying goodbye again!
Although O2 tell me they have never heard of this fault & I am just unlucky in getting the only two phones ever made with this fault, let's see how the next ne goes! Third time lucky?

Great phone so far but now & I am still getting used to which buttons to press (which differ from my previous Motorola). My biggest gripe is that this phone comes with no extras which other phones do. I.e. No data cable, no hands-free kit which acts as the antenna for the radio, so therefore no radio, no CD (I know the software can be downloaded, but it really should be supplied). If this is typical of all Samsung phones then this will be my first & last.

I agree with most, this looks fantastic, but in reality is very disappointing. Files I transfer from my PC won't play, texting is a major pain & the camera. I thought it'd got rid of the annoying shutter speed. No. & now I find the screen has gone an eerie green, think heat sensitive camera. Orange won't entertain me, after 30 days, phone has been dodgy for a week, but I work 8am to 8pm virtually every night, have been ill with bronchitis, so getting to the shop is not high on my agenda, but then I am 2 days outside their 28 day policy (which wasn't helpfully explained when they got me to sign my life away for 18 month) after naively thinking I was OK after being told it was warranted for 18 month, not explaining that it was manufacturer's warranty & that involves being sent away for 2 weeks. OK this is turning into a rant about Orange, but after reading the amount of faults that are apparent with this phone, the attitude has really annoyed me (why can't you just replace the phone here, you've sold me a phone that's not fit for the purpose it was intended, no we won't, because the shop will have to take a loss on that phone). DO NOT BUY OR USE Orange!

I have just received the phone. It is nice however I am sending it back as I just don't seem to get on with it. The phone is rather large & bulky & the menu option isn't very good quality, my previous Samsung was the E900 & was much more modern. The camera is rubbish. Picture quality isn't so bad on things that don't move, however the shutter speed is so slow! I don't really mind as I have a very good quality camera as well so don't really care about phone cameras so much. Anyway, to sum up, looks good, works well, some quite funky things on it (like when you dial a number it gets a fountain pen out & writes it on the screen, rather funky! ), but still going to send it back I think. I am a bit 50 50 about the phone.

Then the phone turned itself off when I was on it! It froze when I was using it & I would get unlimited service for hours on end, so you guessed it had phone exchanged.
Then the above occurred again, by this time I was getting fed up, so again had phone exchanged! Today I am still having problems with the unlimited service bit, Orange think it's the phone, changing the model this time as is driving me mad. I do really love the phone though part from the problems.

I have been given the G600 as a present recently & although the appearance is good the menus are boring but I suppose that counts as to your provider. The picture quality to say it is a 5 megapixel camera is not good, moving the pictures from one place to another is time consuming & that is to say if you get it right the first time. My brother has had a couple of Samsungs, & swears by them, but what does he know? I had a Nokia 3130 after years of Ericssons & Sony Ericssons & didn't like it at all, so thought I'd try the G600, in large part for the supposedly decent camera because I wanted a pocketable camera for social occasions when my 8 mega pixel super zoom is too clunky. So far I've encountered all the usual niggles.
- Only 4 tones for text messages & it must be the only brand that won't handle wav files either. Had a cracking Monty Python message alert on my last Sony Ericsson.
- Fiddly selection processes for picking text message recipients. Same goes for accessing your text message inbox, why can't it have a hotkey like every other phone?
- T9 software that NEVER puts your most popular choice first (just like a Nokia), & you have to really confuse it before it gives you the Add Word option.
- the shift function in text mode depends entirely on which screen you are on. On the main text writing screen, pressing the UP button (same as star) goes from lower case straight to numbers, then uppercase for one letter only, then all upper case, but in the Add Word mode it starts in all upper case (why? ), then goes to all lower case. You can never text on auto pilot with this phone, because you are liable to spout gibberish.
- Just discovered that there is NO voice dialling on this phone at all! (Don't use it as much as I did in my previous job, but it's always nice to have.)
- the camera is nowhere near as good as it's made out to be, really slow shutter & poor flash, so what's the point?
In short I should have gone for the K850i, despite the candy bar design (which I normally hate) & the tiny keys & D pad.

The second problem was accessing the pictures on my memory card, it took an age to load, then once you open the picture you could not scroll through them, you have go back, then down, then open again! Got to agree with a lot of comments.
Particularly, this phone remembers nothing for beyond a few days in predictive text. I have never experienced any phone like that before.
My main problem is when on the Internet, it shuts down & then powers back up on to the main screen. I took it back to the shop, it was away for 2 weeks, collected it tonight, have been having a look at a few things, what do you know, it has just shut itself down. Further more, when it comes back on all the web pages history is gone too.
Had a U600 before, didn't like a lot of the problems that had, totally regret giving Samsung another go. Expected a new phone would been an improved version but it isn't.

I have had the phone for two weeks now & I think overall it is a good phone. You need to experiment with the camera settings to get the best picture in different conditions. I think the music player is excellent, really clear sound compared to others I have had especially PDAs with Windows Media Player. Things that annoy me are the lack of little rubber thing for easy sliding as on the D500 & also the lack of clock when in standby. Small but could have easily been added.
Things I really like are the A2DP functions (stereo Bluetooth headset) & it's looks.
Overall it looks great much better than other 5MP camera phones & performs well enough. Definitely worth considering if you want a 5MP phone without feeling like you are carrying a brick in your pocket.

I cannot understand the menu, how do you change the number of times the phone will ring before it goes to voicemail, mine only rings 3 times & I can never get to it in time.
Extremely unintuitive & messaging is a pain. I might just try & sell it & get another Sony.

The light flickering on the phone is not a fault. It is because the phone has a light sensor which automatically adjusts to the light when you are using the phone.
You can however switch this option off. Go to Settings, Light Settings, Brightness & change from automatic to set brightness. This will then stop the flickering.

The camera isn't as great as I expected, with a slow shutter speed the picture always ends up being a blur.
To select a contact when sending a text you have to select the number, then confirm, & confirm again. It is a lot of bother when only one click of a button is needed.

I have had this phone since the end of January & cannot stand it. The main problem I have with this phone is the predictive text. The memory is rubbish. If you type in words it does not save so you have to keep typing it in all the time. Apparently this is a fault with Samsung though they will not admit this. Orange have had a lot of complaints. My boyfriend also has this phone & has the same problem. He eventually got Orange to send him a new phone but after two days the same problem happened. I will be writing to Samsung's head office. The camera is not great. Battery is quite poor. After playing a couple of songs on it, it goes down really quickly. Another big biggie is the middle button goes on the Internet. Being on contract is useless because I keep pressing it by accident. Signal is really poor. Not sure if this is the provider though. I have another 15 months left on this phone. I will be changing back to Sony asap. Would not advise this phone to anyone.

Got my phone on Friday on Vodafone PAYG, paid £160 for it, & really disappointed, what's going on with the message tones? Only 4? I text all the time, what a letdown, you cannot download them (message tones) although on one forum it said you can via MMF but I am not familiar with any of that, there is not much on it at all, as for the camera we will have to wait & see, but if any one knows how to get message tones on this G600 please share & another thing, I got nothing with it, no USB no earphones so can't use the radio & no media card, if I had researched more first I wouldn't of bothered, I have had Samsungs since I can remember, but this is the worst yet, shall not bother again, next time will be an Ericsson. This is a rip off.

Like so many other reviews I really, really, REALLY dislike this phone & I cannot get OVER how many people now have it. I was changing in the gym the other night & there was the pitiful text message alert (which you cannot change) all FIVE of us brought out our 600s to check.
The functions are fiddly, too authoritarian with double clicks, just send the text message to my usual suspects after I put a mark in the box, why MAKE me confirm I want to send them on ANOTHER pop up.
Nice looking, good display but a pig to use quickly & efficiently & I still have another 12 months to go, DEEP JOY.

If you are thinking of buying one then please don't. Buy any other phone but this one. A largely promoted feature of this phone is the 5 mega pixel camera, it's absolutely useless. The image quality is very bad. A lot of the time the image is blurry & out of focus & really no better than a poor webcam image. It's no good having a 5 mega pixel capacity without a decent lens to back it up. As for phone features well there are none. It's a lot of your cash to pay out for a phone that is no better than the earliest models ever made. Samsung need to take another look where they were going when they brought this cheaply made but expensive to buy market filler!

My overarching impression is one of disappointment. Not user-friendly. Irritating problems, e.g.: doesn't display caller photo ID for outgoing call or incoming text message, won't connect to MacBook via USB port, cannot alter text alert function, doesn't support RealPlayer format, the way the files are organised is rubbish, difficult to save & transfer files between various folders, the camera's not as great as everyone makes out.
Wish I hadn't bought it now. Much preferred my old Sony Ericsson

I really like this phone! I only got it a couple of days ago as an upgrade & yes I had problems with it at the start, but now its fine! I agree when people say that the main fault is probably user error! The camera, well, I don't tend to take pictures anyway, but when I do, it's not too much of a problem for me if it's slow at taking them.
Overall, though, a very nice phone! My brother wanted to pinch it off me. No way was I gonna let that happen!

I have had this phone for a while now, in fact, for several month & the phone it practically faultless.
The camera is better than everybody makes out, I have compared this with many other phones & the quality is exceptional, people who say otherwise must have had it on the wrong resolution settings. If you are unhappy with the quality of the photo, there is a highly extensive image editor, which provides a large variety of alterations that you can add to the photo, including sharpen, which enhances your image. The video quality seems to be pretty good also, & the only problem with the camera is the slow shutter speed, yet this hasn't proved to be much of a problem for me.
At first the phone can be hard to use, especially if you had never had a Samsung before in the past. Many people seem to be giving the phone bad reviews due to the fact they are unable to turn the key tone off or change their ring tone. This is not the case however & once you grasp how the phone works, it is a simple process, the only problems with tones seems to be the lack of message tones & I wish that you could add your own tone rather than 1 of only 4. All the menus are easy to access, are clear & concise.
The design of the phone is great, it's a very stylish phone & the dimensions of the phone provide a very small, yet solid feeling phone. The screen is very large & it avoids the touch sensitive buttons of older variations such as the E900, which seemed to provide many users with a degree of annoyance.
Overall I have loved this phone, no problems so far & I doubt there will be in the future, reliable, stylish & easy to use when you know how. Awesome phone!

I had the same problem with the phone, when somebody tried to call it would switch itself off. After a lot of attempts, I finally figured out it wasn't a problem with the phone, there was something wrong with my network. Its fixed now & working perfectly, I think there is something wrong with your incoming call settings, contact your network!
Apart from a few problems, this phone is amazing, so much better than any phone I have had before, & all the problems I've had with my E900 have pretty much been solved with this phone.

I don't know why people are slating this phone. For me, it was a tossup between the Sony K850i or this Samsung, I chose this phone because it's so much sexier & it doesn't feel like you're carrying a brick in your handbag! OK, so the camera isn't quite as good as the Sony, after all, it hasn't got the cyber shot or the Xenon flash advantage but it's still bloody good! I was worried about the LED flash being rubbish but so far it's proved me wrong.
The phone is so easy to use, anyone having difficulty with it must be a complete numpty it's not hard! In fact, it's the most user friendly phone I have had Nokias, other Samsungs & Sony's.
Yeah the camera settings do reset themselves but so what, if you were in a nightclub you'd have to fiddle around with the settings anyway, it's just people being lazy. It's a simple mobile with a pretty good camera & a brilliant MP3 player. Sound quality is great! The image editing features are really good too.
Like others have said, if you want a digital camera, go out & get one! But this phone is more than enough to capture those moments with your mates. It's such a sleek phone too. It hasn't frozen on me, I am a fast texter & I have been fine with that too.

This phone makes me want to cry. The camera is good quality but takes forever to go off.
Texting. Don't get me started. I text quickly & this phone CAN NOT keep up with me. I am not super speedy but I can usually send a text without looking at the screen. Not with this phone. It misses out letters & the memory is shocking. Type in a new word into the memory & the next day it won't be there.
It's so delayed & seems a step back from the phone I had before. I am so angry that this is the phone I am stuck with for the next 18 months.

I've had this phone since last November, but have had nothing but faults! I am now on my 5th handset in 6 months & have been really let down by it.
On the first handset it just kept freezing. On the second it kept turning itself off. On the third (within a week of the last one being sent back) the same faults again. On the fourth which I sent back today it kept turning itself off when anybody tried to ring me & today after swapping by courier at the front door, I have now found my beautiful new handset is not accepting my memory card which works in two other G600's owned by my boyfriend & my friend.
I cannot believe how letdown I have been with this phone. I loved it when I first saw it & am still very fond of the style & general features of the phone.

There are some nice features & it does look stunning (except I foolishly got it in purple & now realise why there are many purple phones around. Vile) but generally it is hard work, slow, unresponsive, you can't change your text mess alert.
I up graded from a Sony Ericsson & W850i & that is much better. My husband upgraded to the Sony Ericsson W910i & that is a much nicer & easier to use phone even though the camera isn't as good. Although to date our pictures are equally as good as each other!

I use my phone mainly for texting seems very slow, can't get used to the little number & name area on screen, any ideas how to bypass that or any ideas on speed texting. Radio I have not been able to use all the ports on the phone are flat as are the adapters, the radio adapter is like the Nokia adapters, as anyone else received the wrong type of earphone adapter. I did not purchase the phone for the radio, camera or any other accessory but as they there you expect to be able to use them ha. As I have gone on contract I might just change the SIM & use my old Samsung, we'll see.

Bad.
Nothing really that bad with it. I agree that it doesn't keep up with fast texters which can be a bit annoying. I also find it a bit on the big size but this is all to do with personal preference. I would also NEVER use the camera because it takes so long to take a photo, especially if you take one with the flask on.
Apart from that, if you want a phone which doesn't appear to break (like so many phones seem to do at the moment) then this is a safe option.

I really don't understand what is all the fuss around g600 about? Me & my husband got our new phones yesterday, me the Samsung g600, him the Sony Ericsson k770i.
We spent all evening playing with them, comparing pictures etc. What a disappointment! My Samsung kept freezing every few minutes, then going dead to the point that the only way to bring it back to life was by taking battery out & then inserting it back. Maybe it is faulty, but I know some people had same problem, so there has to be something wrong there.
Amazingly the pictures taken with k770i (3.2MP) were much sharper & colours closer to reality than g600 (5MP). & I did use it at highest picture quality settings. I think it has to be the lens that makes all the difference.
Samsung's response was much slower than k770i, when playing with menu & settings. The only good thing about g600 for me was the fact that bigger screen makes Internet browsing a bit more comfortable.
I am going to send it back on Monday & get k770i, as it is much friendlier to use. I like the looks of g600, but at the end of the day it's more about usability than being pretty.

I used to have the Samsung E900 & was put off Samsungs at the time because of this. I just couldn't get on with the over sensitive keys, but Samsung have now won me back! After my E900 experience, I ended up going back to Nokia's, but found my Nokia 6300 just nowhere near matched the Samsung's photo & video quality. So I thought I would give the Samsung G600 a try, & boy I haven't regretted my decision once! The G600 is just that little bit bigger than the E900, which I much prefer, it actually feels like you're holding a proper phone in your hand, & gone are those terrible touch sensitive keys, instead you've got normal push button keys which is much, much better. It's very simple to use, takes brilliant pictures & videos, & also when it rings, I can hear it even outside where it may be noisier than inside.
To sum it up, I would highly recommend the G600, well worth the money.

My main annoyances are the connectivity with a PC. The current CD Rom that I received was only compatible with Windows XP & 2000. I run Vista. I'd have thought that Samsung, in 2008, could have supplied a disc that caters for everyone. Mac users beware apparently there is also trouble with syncing your phone!
To solve this I downloaded an updated version of the PC suite (link down below) instead of inserting the disc, which let me install the phone drivers. Upon connecting my phone, it was now read on my computer & so I selected 'Mass Storage' using the memory card.

It was a choice between the Nokia n95 & the Samsung G600. I had to go with pay as you go & the Nokia n95 was a very highly priced phone so, I went for the Samsung G600. I've had this phone for 2 months now.
I wanted a 5MP camera for when I went on my Skiing holiday. This camera took some FANTASTIC pictures! I don't understand why people don't like it. To be fair, to take any decent quality pictures, you have to hold the camera very steady for about 2 seconds.
The volume isn't that high, which is a shame, but it's like that with ALL Samsung phones, although, when called, the phone is easily heard. When standing on the top of a mountain with many people shouting & screaming, I heard mine. :D Also, like most Samsung phones, the G600 is a bit slow. When texting & searching through menus this can be a bit annoying. My friend lent me his Samsung U600, & I found that it had the same problem with the volume & slowness. The G600 has a whole bunch of extra things which I had a lot of fun looking through. I like the way you can create your own themes.
Getting on to the camera can be quite slow but that's only a problem if you're impatient or in a hurry to take a picture. In which case, you should get a digital camera. This phone does scratch a fair bit if you're not careful, but again, it's like that with most phones. I can only say; don't drop it!
The display is AWESOME! It is so clear & with the big screen, it looks FANTASTIC! I love it! The phone has a decent amount of memory & with the 1GB micro SD card that came with the phone is inserted, I found that you have enough space to store music. After all, this is a phone not an iPod. I am extremely happy with this phone & there is not one moment where I regretted buying it!
I hope this helped. Bye for now Josh.

OK this is my honest opinion with no bias. I bought it recently because the package on the surface looked good.
- 5 MP camera.
- 1 GB memory card supplied.
- Free Bluetooth headset.
What I like about this phone.
- Slide.
- Design.
- Slim.
- Big Screen.
What I dislike about this phone (some of these are quite specific).
- Camera no way as good as it should be. Difficult to take good pictures. The worst 5MP camera I've ever seen.
- No light! This is needed when you're in the dark. Looking for something. Surprising because other Samsung phones have them.
- Predictive texts hardly remembers any words you insert .
- USB cable is dodgy. Many times not connecting.
- Calls take longer to connect.
- Picture of person not displayed on outgoing calls & incoming text messages (if you have saved one for them).
- Contacts (in phonebook) cannot be scrolled through just by their names. Their phone numbers are also displayed.
- Less user friendly when wanting to call a contact on a different no. On Sony phones you can just press the direction key to scroll through.
- Free Samsung Bluetooth difficult to insert in ear is not very stable. It does its job but sound can be unclear. It is better to get one you can hook around the ear.
- Cannot press direction button as spacebar for next word.
- When idle, screen is blank with no time display like in Sony Ericsson phones.
Overall I am disappointed because this was my first upgrade after 2 years & now I am stuck with this for another 18 months. But it is a good deal if you want to save money because you get a free Bluetooth headset & 1GB memory card.
However if you want a phone that is user friendly with good features I say look elsewhere.
Finally TO THOSE WHO FIND IT DIFFICULT TO CONNECT WITH USB here's a trick. Connect the phone & open Windows Media Player. This always picks the phone up! Afterwards open Phone studio & you'll find you're connected!

I do mostly like the phone & am a Samsung addict, it looks great & I just can't help liking it but all this does not compensate for the TRULY AWFUL camera.
I have tried altering all the settings & am still in disbelief that the camera is so bad? Even when I do manage to take a half decent photo, when I go back to look at the photo later, it is blocky & blurred, as if there are only about 100 pixels! The delay on taking pictures is also annoying (I thought Samsung would have eradicated this by now). Am I doing something wrong or have others found the same problems with the camera? I have wondered whether it is faulty but I don't think it is because the G800 I sent back was just as bad.
HELP! I was thinking of exchanging for a Sony K850i (my brother's takes outstanding photos that put the G600 to shame) but according to reviews on here, that seems to have problems of its own.

I found taking pictures with the camera a little bit awkward when using the side button but overall I liked the camera. The difference between 2.5 & 5 megapixels isn't apparent until you view the pictures on a computer screen. The screen on the phone although good can't show 5 megapixels because the resolution isn't high enough. I had difficulty at first sending MMS messages but that was down to incorrect setting for my service provider. To the gentleman who couldn't play the MP3s in album order you need to create a playlist & then add the tracks in album order. The tracks will then be played in playlist order. You CAN change the message tone albeit to one of four presets. There are a lot of hidden features to this phone which the manual doesn't make clear. Like any new device it takes time to get used to.

It's sleek, ergonomic & quite intuitive to use. Looks great & sounds great. The speaker is clear when listening to other callers & the keypad is very easy to use, although the keys can be a tad sensitive at times (I.e. Double pressing of the keys! )
Overall, an excellent phone!

Good phone but there is a little problem when I bought the phone from the Orange shop I was told it had vivid messaging but there is nothing there. One shop said you have to download settings to get it. I phoned Orange they didn't know what I was talking about, so I went to another shop & to cut a long story short. (still waiting).
Otherwise the camera is really good don't know why some are moaning there must be something wrong with there's. Very easy to use,

I was torn between the Sony Ericsson k850i & this phone. I wanted a really good camera & easy phone to use. I hate touch screen phones, so that's what really swung me towards choosing this one.
It's a nice looking phone & fits nicely in the hand, I have had 3 Samsung phones before & mostly all slide of flip phones, so that's another reason why I chose this.
The texting is easy, but sometimes I get the predictive text wrong as it's not as fast to react to typing as the d900.
The camera has proved disappointing on nights out. When I put the flash on it is just so bright it does not give a realistic colour at all. There is also a delay when you use the flash, so if you take a photo of someone they tend to move & won't stay still for 10 seconds.
It's got novelty applications such as warping & styling such as making pictures black & white & sepia etc.
There is not much variety of message tones.
Overall I am happy with the phone & probably would have gone with the Sony for the camera but I know I wouldn't have gotten on with the bar phone & the touch screen.
I have had no faults with this phone yet, & the radio quality is fabulous!

Okay people this is how you change your ringtone.
- Press menu.
- Go to settings.
- Go to phone settings.
- Go to phone profiles.
- Click on normal.
- Press options. You will see incoming calls.
- On the big silver circle in the middle of your phone press across (sorry if this sounds like I am being bitchy I am not honest).
- It will say new messages come down to message alert tone.
- Press select. You then have a choice of 4 message tones. Choose 1 & press select & it will save. GOOD LUCK.
Also if you can find your emotions for your texts when in text press 4, 3 3 (there are in clipart) Cheers Sue.

Only had this phone for 4 days & was ready to send it back. I think the main problem with this phone is the absolutely appalling user manual.
I had the problem with the screen flickering, been on to Orange & all they could suggest was a master reset, but since reading on here about the backlight being on auto I have changed it to anytime & so far no probs.
Same with the camera flash. I was annoyed at having it change the settings every time, but no problem now I know the STAR key can be used as a shortcut. & if you set the camera to a high enough resolution, which it does seem to save, then pictures are fine. Though I have found you can only view them in full screen if you save to the phone rather than memory card.
Other than that I have found the phone very easy to use, it seems like a very sturdy well built phone. Yes, annoying that there are only 4 preset message tones, but that's not really a major problem.
Battery life is good, for a Samsung. 3 to 4 days between charge but I have been constantly fiddling with it.

I purchased the Samsung g600 on Tuesday 19th February, was very upset as light & keypad flickering of & on. Returned the phone today Friday for replacement, same thing happening with new one. Out came my Macbook & l looked on the review site. I am very pleased I did as I was just about to return it. Light flickering is not a fault. It has an automatic light sensor which I think is a great feature. Just set it to anytime & not automatic & it is fine.
It is a lovely phone. I gave it a lot of thought before I bought it. I looked at all phones for a few days. Camera is great if you change settings & press button half way to autofocus, then take picture. I like the sos feature. Just have to press the side button four times & it will send a text to the selected person. They can ring you back without you opening the phone. This is a great feature for me as I walk in the country with my dog. Good clear screen, Great menu, Some complained that screen went black too quickly, well change the setting allowing it to stay on longer. You just have to feel you way around this phone, I am sure there are lots more things for me to discover, It's a great phone, I would recommend it, if you like the look of it, Buy it.

Complete & utter DISGRACE. Do not waste your money on this piece of rubbish. This phone has QUIET MUSIC & also it doesn't HAVE FLASH. It says it is 5.0 mega pixels but my old Sony Ericsson K750i has better picture taking. It only seems like a 0.5 MEGA PIXEL. To tell you the truth I PREFER MY OLD SIEMENS S55.

I got this phone on contract with O2 just before Christmas. At first I loved it found it really easy to use. But then a few weeks ago the phone started freezing while I was texting or whenever I tried going into the camera. It would then switch itself off & then on again. It would take ages to fully reload & once it had the battery had drained. Eventually have taken it back to the shop for repairs so I am hoping it will get fixed for good! I text a lot & found it not the fastest of phones but overall it's an OK phone. Not the best one I have had & the camera is no way 5.0 megapix!

I wish I had listened to the negative reviews. What a rubbish phone. I know how to use digital cameras & that one was rubbish. Yes I know it's only a phone & if I want a decent digital camera, I should just buy one. However, the Sony proved to be so bad & the keys really are horrible. So don't go for that phone. Now back to the Samsung. Well, I opted then for that & what a great choice! Excellent camera. Easy to use. People who moaned about the fact that you have to keep the slide open are moaning for nothing. You literally have to keep it open for max 5 seconds until message is sent, then you can slide it closed. I absolutely love my phone! Battery lasts about 2 days. I know that's not really long. But I use the camera quite a bit & text very often. & signal is usually great as well. Overall super phone.

This phone drives me mad! It never remembers any words I type in predictive text, so, every time I type a friend's name, I have to do it from scratch & also, you cannot set any sounds other than factory spec for your message tones. Sorry but these things are important to me! Also, there are no animated people to put into texts, just faces made out of punctuation marks that we all used back in the day when mobiles had aerials. The camera is really poor & just does its own thing, sometimes it takes straight away, other times it takes ages to focus & the picture quality isn't great. Finally, there is nowhere to hang a phone charm!

Just commenting on some of the quite silly comments below really.
The camera button does NOT get in the way when you are texting.
anyone who wrote about the camera being rubbish because even the slightest movement will blur the picture is clearly deluded, this will happen with ANY camera on a mobile phone because the lens is so small & whoever said the battery life is bad, obviously only charged it for all of 20 minutes. I can't believe that in this day & age people don't know that you need to charge any phone for up to 12 hours. I've had the phone 2 days since I finished charging it & I am still on full battery. Brilliant!
People seem to think that phones should be absolutely perfect. At the end of the day you will never find a perfect phone, but this phone does come extremely close. There are a few minor issues for me. Not too keen on the screen brightness changing whilst you're texting at times & the 'cancel' button is in a bit of a strange place, but these are things I am sure I'll get used to.
Definitely worth getting this phone as it is by far the best phone on the market today.

Also when you have your phone on a certain profile silent for example & you still want your phone to vibrate you need to change the settings for this profile otherwise when somebody rings you or texts you the phone will do as the profile says & remains silent so in order to do this go onto your menu, into settings, phone settings, phone profiles select the profile you want then press options & edit & you should be able to change things from them on.

I am sending it back to exchange it for a Sony Ericsson.

I was a little dubious after reading some of the negative comments here, but couldn't find anything comparable, I did consider the Nokia 6500, but didn't like the feel of it compared to the G600.
The lack of message tones doesn't bother me at all & the music player & FM radio are fantastic! Battery life is fine & I use mine frequently during the day.
The only negative things I have to say is that the camera button is a little awkward when texting as it is easy to press, & the 5MP camera doesn't seem to be up to much. The flash seems to default to Off every time I turn the phone off & has to be reset every time you take a picture. Quality of photos was better on my little old E330! But perhaps I need to get used to using it as I am still finding my way round the camera.
Everything else is great. To anyone who wants a good all round, reliable phone BUY IT!

When the picture is taken & it's still on the screen the picture is OK, but when you come to view it in your files the pictures are all blurred & badly pixelated (basically terrible). The G800 is definitely worth the extra bulk in your pocket especially if it's the camera you are after.
The U600 has got a clearer picture & takes better picture in the lower light areas. When the pictures are put on the computer from the G600 some come out better than on the phone. The viewing of picture on the phone is really awkward as well. It's not a case of a simple zoom button on the side of the phone, it's similar to the way the E250 works. I will be replacing this phone as soon as I have the money.
The video is better than the 3.2MP's makes up slightly for the terrible camera. To get full screen viewing when playing a video press the '#' key. The phone does have a nice menu & layout. Also the MP3 player is worth a mention because it's very good & the quality of the speaker is great.
So to sum up not worthy of being called a 5MP camera & has not met Samsungs usual standards. G800 much better option. I hope the one I got was a one off or else the person who thought this was worthy of being price it was & marketed to the supposable high spec should be.

I am 65 years old & bought my G600 yesterday. Already I have found my way around it & think it is wonderful. I previously had a Sony Ericsson Z530i. I have found all the ringtones, go into Phone Settings, phone profiles, Outdoor (or whatever), Edit, Scroll across top for Incoming Calls, New Message, Phone sounds, Edit & choose your ringtones. Easy!
The phone is slim, easy to use & I love it.

I had the Samsung G800 for one week before I sent it back, when I was texting I had to turn off predictive text every time & it didn't take many characters. So a short text could use up 2 messages.
Is the G600 similar to this when texting?

I have had this phone for 3 days & know how to use it well because I was on it all day & night & also had a D600 before this & it's not that much different it's a really good phone looks great, its thin has good themes & takes brilliant photos but the one thing I really hate about this phone is the camera they made such a big fuss about it being a 5 mega pixel camera but a photo & it came out great but then I saved it & it went horrible it blurred up the lighting went rubbish & it came out as rubbish as my mum's phone's camera which has a 1.3 mega pixel camera so I thought it might just be the phone so I took about 5 more & they all took perfectly but then I viewed them & they'd went the same too blurred & rubbish lighting & bad quality, my d600 took way better pictures & it was only a 2 mega pixel camera. I only got this phone because I like taking pictures & I thought it would be great but it was complete rubbish I would not waste £180 on this if I knew it would be like this.

Had this phone 2 months now & wish I never seen the thing, where to start?
First off, why oh why Samsung does the U600 let you use your own MP3 message tones & the G600 does not? , just the worst selection of bleeps & squeaks that make you dread receiving a text for fear of the ridicule from mates!
Didn't look in to this lightly when upgrading from a W850i Sony because a mate had a U600 & thought because that did MP3 message tones the upgraded version would as well, what sort of backwards step is that Samsung?
5 megapixel camera, are you having a laugh? You get just as good results off a 2 meg (if not better) & a 1.3 isn't far behind neither. A flash that you have to turn on in the menu every time you want to take a picture in the dark & when you do it's like a security guard shining a maglite in your subjects face? very natural looking.
I should have gone for a W910i. I can't believe I have got to put up with it for another 16 months, no wait, I can't, insurance policy to the rescue me thinks!

I have had this phone almost a week now. I have to say this is a beautiful looking phone, with loads of great features. Once you get to grips with it, it is a pretty fabulous phone HOWEVER I have to say I have experienced all the negatives described on here whilst trying to get to grips with it! Backlight flickering, limited tones, the screen goes dark as soon as you shut the phone so you can't see time, messages etc, the keypad keys are very small making texting difficult, the photos are a little grainy, I still haven't figured out why it won't send or receive Multimedia messages & most annoyingly I loaded the PC suite software on the computer & plugged in the phone & experienced unknown error message after unknown error message & the frustration of the PC not being able to detect the phone. I was ready to give up BUT with a little perseverance I have now solved all those problems (EXCEPT WHY IT won't SEND OR RECEIVE MULTI MEDIA ANY ONE HELP? It says configuration error when I try & won't open any I receive & says configuration error yet again! )
I followed the instructions posted by someone below & that got rid of the backlight flickering & for those of you who have had similar problems with the software & transferring files from phone to PC this is what I eventually did maybe it will help some of you.
MENU, SETTINGS & PHONE SETTINGS. USB SETTINGS & CHANGE TO ASK ON CONNECTION. Open PC studio 3 & connect phone, it will ask you which USB connection you require select MASS STORAGE then go to my computer on the PC, it should show the phone & its files, or it may open a new window containing the phone & its files, then copy & paste from PC studio 3 directly into the files on the phone. So basically bypassing the software & moving the files into the phones files directly!
For the person below who got into the software OK but could find no photos try this. BEFORE trying to upload them move them into your memory card. MENU, MYFILES, PHOTOS, OPTIONS, MOVE TO, MEMORYCARD then select the photos you want to move hit options (ignore the box it throws up unless you want to un tick the options) hit MOVE it takes you to the memory card files, choose the destination file, hit options select MOVE HERE, then set phone to USB mass storage as described above & take it from there. Actually when I did this computer detected the pictures no trouble & gave me several options as to whether to copy, view etc. So once I was ignoring the software provided with the phone I was able to transfer files etc no problem.
So eventually after almost a week I seem to have the phone up & working HOWEVER it was a very frustrating week & if I hadn`t found this site & the tips on here I would still be fumbling as the software was difficult to use, & the instruction manual is no help at all!
Anyway I am pleased with it now, hope that some of this helps you others who were experiencing problems!

Got the G600 as a free upgrade from Sony K800i. After a week of complete disappointment I took it back to the O2 shop. Endless problems switching off at random, freezing when texting & crashing the SIM card & locking up completely so I had to remove battery to restart.
The guys at the shop all agreed that some early software on 600s was a bit glitch, they'd had similar problems with one of theirs. Replaced it with a new one & it's been brilliant! No problems at all, much faster texting without the annoying delay the whole phone feels better. Much clickier controls & generally more robust feel, Samsung must be aware of the problems by now?
The flickering screen that everybody seems to have a problem with is easily rectified by turning the keypad light setting to anytime rather than the default automatic setting. I still think the camera is poor though, not a patch on the Sony 3.2. The no option SMS tones are truly a backward step & the user manual is extremely brief!
Have a look on the web for loads more stuff like camera settings & the like. So yes I like it very much!

Coming from a Sony W800i, I think this phone is great. Love the design & the quality is great, steel like outer finish. People will comment that a N95 or K850i will take a better photo maybe so. But in the few months' time the G600 will have the better photo quality as the K850i will have a camera lens full of dust (behind where you can remove it). Much like my brother in laws N95 has dust under the lens & now takes rubbish photos.
Whereas the G600 has a sealed unit, where the lens is? My old W800i also suffers from a huge amount of dust under the screen & under then camera lens. Dust gets in everywhere on the Sony's & Nokia's.
The music player is great I compare it to my W800, however the quality is fine.
These other users complaining are just too used to their old phones & need to adjust to a new phone. Battery life is good I get about 5 days, I don't talk all day on it so I expected it to be OK.
All & all a great phone, my only complaint is I can change the message tone to a MP3. That's why I give it 4 out of 5. Excellent phone, but perfect but certainly one of the better phones out today.

I was really looking forward to buying this phone, but when I got it home I was really disappointed!
- I find it hard & annoying to use.
- The backlight flickers a lot which distracts me.
- The camera button gets in the way whilst txting so it stops you from typing.
- When I plug my phone into the computer using the USB port it says that it is invalid & I can't use it to transfer files.
- All the fuss about a 5MP camera. It's fuzzy & blurry. My old phone with a 2MP camera was better quality!
- I was also told that id receive £19 credit within 14 days of buying the phone, its still not come & the shop have no memory of saying that so it was a scam!
The thing that annoys me the most is that I bought the phone for £240 & after 2 weeks I hate it, what a waste of money!

I think the g600 is a good phone & I am only disappointed with the lack of message tones & it doesn't seem as easy to send text's as on my old Samsungs, as it is heavier to hold & the predictive text has changed. The camera has been OK, but I haven't got the phone for the camera so it doesn't need to take amazing pictures. The Bluetooth earpiece & 1GB memory card supplied in the box are good touches & have been put to good use already.
In reference to David's comments on 2nd Jan - I also found that my backlight & keypad light flickered but I went into Settings > Light Settings > Keypad Light & changed it from Automatic to Any time & that has solved the problem.

I got the G600 for Christmas & ever since I have opened the box not been able to let it go. Mind you this is the first time I have used a slide phone (I was using a Nokia 6300 beforehand) & I must say, I am thoroughly impressed.
The camera is better than the K850i (my wife has it though she's thinking of returning it) & the phone itself much less bulky. The slide action is smooth & the (non-touch) buttons work a charm. The phone is very power efficient, with the light-dependent resistor working away.
As an environmentally-conscious person I was quite happy with the fact that my wife got me a Samsung phone, & I've recently purchased a wind up charger for it too.
All of the above, of course, with the fact that the phone is very sleek looking & turns heads a lot (though I think with more people having it becomes less special).
Great phone indeed.

My boyfriend got this phone on an Orange contract & decided he wanted to go on pay as you go. At first the phone said it was quad-band so any network would work on the phone, but when he put his Vodafone sim card in, it asked for a pass code.
We assumed the phone was just locked to Orange, so he put a pay as you go Orange sim card into the phone & it worked.
But, it said on the screen of the phone limited calls rather than the network name. At first we thought this was because there was no signal but the signal bar was full.
Do you know how to sort this out? & yes, the camera takes ages to take a photo. Also when viewing items on the memory card it takes ages to load & sometimes the phone freezes.

Had this phone over 2 month now. On contract with Orange Dolphin 35. I was attracted to this phone because of its 5MP cam, cool design & because I have had a D900 a year & never had anything to fault with it. I bought the G600 only a few weeks after it was 1st brought out so I didn't get chance to read up on it n do my research. I have never had any problems with it other than it temporarily wouldn't work when it got slightly damp but after drying it out on the radiator it worked fine.
Good Points
- Good Quality camera
- Good memory without a memory card
- Music Player, easy to navigate
- Good looking
- A decent charger connection (not the dodgy 1s you get sometimes that break easily & are a fiddle to get in!)
Bad Points
- Backlight keeps flashing as the light sensor is quite sensitive
- Inbox capacity is rather small
- Can freeze or can be slow esp. when you have a lot of files on your memory card
- Scratches & damages easy
- Volume on music is quite low
Overall I think the G600 is a great phone, although quite heavy it's sleek & thin & looks great. However I think this phone is quite expensive for what you get & may not really be built to last!

I bought this phone for my wife at Christmas & she has taken to it right away. Like any new piece of equipment you have to take some time getting used to it & familiarise yourself with its operational controls before making any adverse comments. I would say that some of the negative reviews could be the fault of the person who bought or have taken out a contract on the phone without doing their homework beforehand. I could not fault the Samsung G600. If you want to take professional pictures by a camera not a mobile phone.

Have had this phone for a few days now, & it seems to be OK.
Points to raise:
- as someone else pointed out, the autoflash doesn't stay on, BUT there is a shortcut, the star button, so press that as soon as the camera loads, & you are away. (Seems very daft not to remember settings though?).
- To slide it you end up getting finger prints all over the screen (not a big deal I know, but there is no little raised bump or anything to get purchase on).
- Battery lasted two days.
- When on the net (logging onto email) hold the hash key to access the symbols menu if you need to use a _ underscore. There is no other way to access this key in browser mode.
- The person that said there are limited display options: go to create own theme, you can customise every single detail. It's a clever system, works well & v. Easy to use.
- RE camera shutter complaint: shutter button on the camera is two stages (like all digital cameras) hold it half way, wait for the image to focus, then press fully, & it will take a pic. If you just press down fully first time, it will take ages & appear to be just working randomly.
- The recent recipients list when composing texts is a genius feature! How did I live without that before!? (No trawling through phonebook everytime).
- The auto feature on the backlight is very clever, use the phone in the daytime, & the keys don't bother illuminating, cast a shadow over it with your hand & you will see the keys light up. Very clever! Must save loads of battery power. (Works via light sensor in top left, just above screen).
Very clever phone & very good looking! So far so good!

I've read a couple of these reviews & a lot of you are complaining, & saying that you brought your phone back because the backlight keeps flickering. The styling is great, the camera needs a steady hand but with the right settings can still take great pictures.
The most impressive feature of the phone is the MP3 player through the in-ear headphones, it knocks spots off my iPOD.

OK, a phone should be used as a phone, but when a phone boasts a 5 Megapixel Camera with Flash & Auto Focus, the picture quality should be brilliant. The Samsung G600 picture quality, once uploaded onto a computer & photos printed out via Bluetooth are blurry & pointless.
I have spoken to Samsung regarding this issue, but they don't really know what they are talking about. One Samsung representative informed me the phone is not set up to print via Bluetooth (which it is) & perhaps it was my new computer which is where the problem is & I should load my software onto another computer. (I have a 12 megapixel camera & my old 3.2 megapixel Sony Ericsson phone on my computer with crystal clear photos both on screen & printed out).
I have received a replacement Samsung G600 with the intention that it may have been a faulty phone, wrong. I have complained yet again of the picture quality & have been informed to return the handset once again for a replacement, what's the point?
Samsung G600, I would definitely not recommend this phone to anyone, I am annoyed I am stuck with it for 12 months.

I have had this phone for a week but texting is hard as the buttons need to be pressed quite hard & the back light flickers when texting which is really annoying, I am going back to change it but not sure if I am going to get a new one or get rid completely & get a completely different one. Nice looking but hard to use.

I got this phone a week ago & I love it so much. But yesterday, when I try to receive something through Bluetooth it says content not supported! Anyone know how to fix it?
Apart from that it's a good phone I'd recommend It!

This phone is GREAT! I don't know why people are giving it all these bad reviews! If you want a phone that has EVERYTHING on it & that looks really stylish, then get this one! I haven't experienced any of the problems everyone else is saying. I love it!

I've had this phone a week & I am sending it back right now. It has driven me mad! I am not a really gadgetry type so thought as long as it had a 5 megapixel camera I would be happy. But no way! I can't switch off the annoying alert tone everytime I change something. I have tried to add my own ringtone to my profile from my MP3 list & it works for a few hours but then defaults back to the barely audible Samsung ringtone. Which is infuriating as I have my phone in my bag most of the time & so get numerous missed calls because I can't hear the phone. Also I think it defaults back to original settings with regard to tones everytime I switch my phone off (which is everyday!) so very annoying!
The camera is ridiculous & so wobbly. My old Sony Ericsson with a 3.2 megapixel camera took much better pictures. Overall I have found this phone very disappointing. I thought it was standard for phones to have personalised areas such as text tones & ringtones & it seems this handset is incapable of it. If you're used to high spec phones, don't bother with this one!
P.S I am not being negative for the sake of it, I am genuinely gutted about this phone!

I had a Samsung D900 before & updated to this phone. This is a much superior phone, I can't understand all the negative comments. The camera is brilliant & takes really good photographs with so many facilities to cope with all lighting conditions. I have also found the flash to be very efficient despite the 'experts' views. My only difficulty at present is adding more interesting tones to text messages, it doesn't appear to allow one to add their own styles as they are in a very selective area only! A brilliant phone that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Why does everyone put this phone down? If you are so used to using another, Samsungs do get tricky to figure out. THIS PHONE IS AMAZING! Why would anyone think otherwise. Sure, you need a steady hand for the camera, but you do for a digital one don't you? If you move suddenly the picture isn't gonna be perfect. & I love it so, there's no problem with me :) BUY IT, trust me, it's worth it. So STOP WITH the BAD REVIEWS!

Had this phone for a week & took it back to the shop & exchanged it for the wonderful Nokia 6500 classic. The Samsung G600 is slow, has sharp edges at the bottom of the phone with its cheap plastic & doesn't feel right. Poor phone in my opinion. Thanks.
