Set the photo shutter setting to ISO 400 & not to automatic that'll speed up your shots. Other settings on superfine & take size down to about 1024 x 768 which is big enough.

This should help.

Having your own text message sounds would be good though, can someone post how to convert to mmf?

I think that all of the bad comments about the phone's camera just don't make sense!

I have not brought the phone yet, & I know you are probably thinking well how do I know? Well yes, I do know because I tried it in then store & my best friend also has this phone, did you know that you can make your own themes on this phone? & for all the confirming. Well isn't that good? I mean it's trying to make sure that you know what you are doing in case it is going to Effect you!

I think the design is absolutely AMAZING & the phone is brilliant sorry to all the ones that don't like this phone, I don't think it's the management of the phone that you don't like, I think it's your personality that doesn't go with the phone! This is a girl's phone, by all these features & comments, all the men's comments are bad & all the girls' comments are good! SEE! If that is not clear enough then well I never. I rest my case!

You want my advice? GET THIS PHONE! (I hope this helped you, for those that want the real TRUTH).

I have had two previous Samsung phones, D500, D600 & then I decided to try the G600 when I was due for an upgrade. I love this phone & never had a problem with anything. The only thing I don't like is you can't choose your own message tones, just the 4 that are provided. That's the one & only problem. I recommend this phone to anyone, it's so stylish & easy to use.

I think this phone is rubbish & I really regret having been seduced by the 5 megapixels, & I am stuck with it for 18 months : (. The shutter lag is appalling, it takes AGES for the picture to get taken & by then everyone has moved. & the quality is terrible. Even my old cheap LG was better.

I cannot understand the menu, how do you change the number of times the phone will ring before it goes to voicemail, mine only rings 3 times & I can never get to it in time.

Extremely unintuitive & messaging is a pain. I might just try & sell it & get another Sony.

One of my work colleagues also has this phone & we spend loads of time moaning about it.

There is very little I like about this phone, it is clumsy & annoying & the manual is rubbish.

Two things which are good, the radio & screensaver of London.

But I have to say that this phone has put me off Samsung for life!

Well I've had this phone since the day it came out back in August, & apart from the camera being far poorer than it's made out to be, it's a good phone! Everyone's really digging deep into this phone to try & find something to complain about, but come on, on the whole it's undeniable that it is Samsung's best phone. Stop being too picky, no phone is perfect!

To Sharon

The light flickering on the phone is not a fault. It is because the phone has a light sensor which automatically adjusts to the light when you are using the phone.

You can however switch this option off. Go to Settings, Light Settings, Brightness & change from automatic to set brightness. This will then stop the flickering.

Love the look of the phone, however it is quite chunky.

The camera isn't as great as I expected, with a slow shutter speed the picture always ends up being a blur.

To select a contact when sending a text you have to select the number, then confirm, & confirm again. It is a lot of bother when only one click of a button is needed.

Apart from that the phone looks smart, works well & has a radio, which I cannot live with out

PS it gets scratched easily!

This phone is infuriating to use, slow, unintuitive, mindlessly obscure & a pain in the ass. I have used Sony Ericsson's & Nokia's in the past, both fantastic operating systems, straightforward, intuitive, user friendly. The Samsung OS was clearly designed by people who don't use phones much. I am gutted I am stuck for 18 months. I won't stay the course I am sure. I wish I'd stayed with my 3year old Sony k750i & got a reduction on monthly bills instead of going for this overrated nonsense. Why did it win awards? DON'T GET THIS PHONE!

I like the phone.
I like the features.
Very similar to my D900.
But I have now had to arrange a third handset in 5 weeks!
The flickering of the backlight when texting or doing anything on the menu at all is very annoying.
Usability & Functionality is great, can't fault the phone.
The camera shutter speed is also poor which can be frustrating too!
Can't cope with the flicker so I fear that if it's the same on the 3rd handset, it's bye bye Samsung!

I have had this phone since the end of January & cannot stand it. The main problem I have with this phone is the predictive text. The memory is rubbish. If you type in words it does not save so you have to keep typing it in all the time. Apparently this is a fault with Samsung though they will not admit this. Orange have had a lot of complaints. My boyfriend also has this phone & has the same problem. He eventually got Orange to send him a new phone but after two days the same problem happened. I will be writing to Samsung's head office. The camera is not great. Battery is quite poor. After playing a couple of songs on it, it goes down really quickly. Another big biggie is the middle button goes on the Internet. Being on contract is useless because I keep pressing it by accident. Signal is really poor. Not sure if this is the provider though. I have another 15 months left on this phone. I will be changing back to Sony asap. Would not advise this phone to anyone.

Got my phone on Friday on Vodafone PAYG, paid £160 for it, & really disappointed, what's going on with the message tones? Only 4? I text all the time, what a letdown, you cannot download them (message tones) although on one forum it said you can via MMF but I am not familiar with any of that, there is not much on it at all, as for the camera we will have to wait & see, but if any one knows how to get message tones on this G600 please share & another thing, I got nothing with it, no USB no earphones so can't use the radio & no media card, if I had researched more first I wouldn't of bothered, I have had Samsungs since I can remember, but this is the worst yet, shall not bother again, next time will be an Ericsson. This is a rip off.

Like so many other reviews I really, really, REALLY dislike this phone & I cannot get OVER how many people now have it. I was changing in the gym the other night & there was the pitiful text message alert (which you cannot change) all FIVE of us brought out our 600s to check.

The functions are fiddly, too authoritarian with double clicks, just send the text message to my usual suspects after I put a mark in the box, why MAKE me confirm I want to send them on ANOTHER pop up.

Nice looking, good display but a pig to use quickly & efficiently & I still have another 12 months to go, DEEP JOY.

If you are thinking of buying one then please don't. Buy any other phone but this one. A largely promoted feature of this phone is the 5 mega pixel camera, it's absolutely useless. The image quality is very bad. A lot of the time the image is blurry & out of focus & really no better than a poor webcam image. It's no good having a 5 mega pixel capacity without a decent lens to back it up. As for phone features well there are none. It's a lot of your cash to pay out for a phone that is no better than the earliest models ever made. Samsung need to take another look where they were going when they brought this cheaply made but expensive to buy market filler!

My overarching impression is one of disappointment. Not user-friendly. Irritating problems, e.g.: doesn't display caller photo ID for outgoing call or incoming text message, won't connect to MacBook via USB port, cannot alter text alert function, doesn't support RealPlayer format, the way the files are organised is rubbish, difficult to save & transfer files between various folders, the camera's not as great as everyone makes out.

Wish I hadn't bought it now. Much preferred my old Sony Ericsson

I really like this phone! I only got it a couple of days ago as an upgrade & yes I had problems with it at the start, but now its fine! I agree when people say that the main fault is probably user error! The camera, well, I don't tend to take pictures anyway, but when I do, it's not too much of a problem for me if it's slow at taking them.

Overall, though, a very nice phone! My brother wanted to pinch it off me. No way was I gonna let that happen!

I have had this phone for a while now, in fact, for several month & the phone it practically faultless.

The camera is better than everybody makes out, I have compared this with many other phones & the quality is exceptional, people who say otherwise must have had it on the wrong resolution settings. If you are unhappy with the quality of the photo, there is a highly extensive image editor, which provides a large variety of alterations that you can add to the photo, including sharpen, which enhances your image. The video quality seems to be pretty good also, & the only problem with the camera is the slow shutter speed, yet this hasn't proved to be much of a problem for me.

At first the phone can be hard to use, especially if you had never had a Samsung before in the past. Many people seem to be giving the phone bad reviews due to the fact they are unable to turn the key tone off or change their ring tone. This is not the case however & once you grasp how the phone works, it is a simple process, the only problems with tones seems to be the lack of message tones & I wish that you could add your own tone rather than 1 of only 4. All the menus are easy to access, are clear & concise.

The design of the phone is great, it's a very stylish phone & the dimensions of the phone provide a very small, yet solid feeling phone. The screen is very large & it avoids the touch sensitive buttons of older variations such as the E900, which seemed to provide many users with a degree of annoyance.

Overall I have loved this phone, no problems so far & I doubt there will be in the future, reliable, stylish & easy to use when you know how. Awesome phone!

I had the same problem with the phone, when somebody tried to call it would switch itself off. After a lot of attempts, I finally figured out it wasn't a problem with the phone, there was something wrong with my network. Its fixed now & working perfectly, I think there is something wrong with your incoming call settings, contact your network!

Apart from a few problems, this phone is amazing, so much better than any phone I have had before, & all the problems I've had with my E900 have pretty much been solved with this phone.

I don't know why people are slating this phone. For me, it was a tossup between the Sony K850i or this Samsung, I chose this phone because it's so much sexier & it doesn't feel like you're carrying a brick in your handbag! OK, so the camera isn't quite as good as the Sony, after all, it hasn't got the cyber shot or the Xenon flash advantage but it's still bloody good! I was worried about the LED flash being rubbish but so far it's proved me wrong.

The phone is so easy to use, anyone having difficulty with it must be a complete numpty it's not hard! In fact, it's the most user friendly phone I have had Nokias, other Samsungs & Sony's.

Yeah the camera settings do reset themselves but so what, if you were in a nightclub you'd have to fiddle around with the settings anyway, it's just people being lazy. It's a simple mobile with a pretty good camera & a brilliant MP3 player. Sound quality is great! The image editing features are really good too.

Like others have said, if you want a digital camera, go out & get one! But this phone is more than enough to capture those moments with your mates. It's such a sleek phone too. It hasn't frozen on me, I am a fast texter & I have been fine with that too.

GET IT!

This phone makes me want to cry. The camera is good quality but takes forever to go off.

Texting. Don't get me started. I text quickly & this phone CAN NOT keep up with me. I am not super speedy but I can usually send a text without looking at the screen. Not with this phone. It misses out letters & the memory is shocking. Type in a new word into the memory & the next day it won't be there.

It's so delayed & seems a step back from the phone I had before. I am so angry that this is the phone I am stuck with for the next 18 months.

I will NEVER buy a samsung phone again. I have never written a review for anything before but I feel so strongly about this that I had to.

There is nothing so postive that can make up for the above.

I am a lot disappointed to be honest. But I can't say any other problems have a raised yet. Fingers crossed.

I've had this phone since last November, but have had nothing but faults! I am now on my 5th handset in 6 months & have been really let down by it.

On the first handset it just kept freezing. On the second it kept turning itself off. On the third (within a week of the last one being sent back) the same faults again. On the fourth which I sent back today it kept turning itself off when anybody tried to ring me & today after swapping by courier at the front door, I have now found my beautiful new handset is not accepting my memory card which works in two other G600's owned by my boyfriend & my friend.

I cannot believe how letdown I have been with this phone. I loved it when I first saw it & am still very fond of the style & general features of the phone.

Has anyone else had all these faults or is it just me & I am cursed with my G600?

The picture quality is amazing why you all seem so disappointed on this I have no idea.

Camera is brilliant also I took a picture with it to try it out, I transferred it to my PC via Bluetooth & used it on my desktop it was a very good picture didn't even use the settings.

I love this phone & I think a lot of the problems with it are user error, I have been off work with a broken wrist for 7 weeks now so I have had plenty of time to play with it, I have sussed how to change the text tone, I have changed my clock from analogue to digital but I can't for the life of me find out how to take a picture upright. When I take it the picture is as it should be but when I go & find it in my images it's sideways. AHHHHH it's driving me mad. Any brain box out there that can tell me how to change this I would really be grateful. Thanks.

Getting this phone is a mistake that I now regret. A lot of my friends have it & they seem to like it, but I am not getting along with it at all.

There are some nice features & it does look stunning (except I foolishly got it in purple & now realise why there are many purple phones around. Vile) but generally it is hard work, slow, unresponsive, you can't change your text mess alert.

I up graded from a Sony Ericsson & W850i & that is much better. My husband upgraded to the Sony Ericsson W910i & that is a much nicer & easier to use phone even though the camera isn't as good. Although to date our pictures are equally as good as each other!

I wish I had gone for the W920i now.

Just found a connector for the earphones in the box, my fault for not checking the box. Still finding my way around this phone, it is definitely growing on me.

Just got this phone, still finding my way round, I previously had the Samsung e370, small pink & chunky, easy to use. I like this new phone seems to have a lot on it, better camera. I use my phone mainly for texting seems very slow, can't get used to the little number & name area on screen, any ideas how to bypass that or any ideas on speed texting. Radio I have not been able to use all the ports on the phone are flat as are the adapters, the radio adapter is like the Nokia adapters, as anyone else received the wrong type of earphone adapter. I did not purchase the phone for the radio, camera or any other accessory but as they there you expect to be able to use them ha. As I have gone on contract I might just change the SIM & use my old Samsung, we'll see.

Good.
It works well, its reliable with no real faults with it. Some nice extra customise features for it which is a nice added extra

Bad.
Nothing really that bad with it. I agree that it doesn't keep up with fast texters which can be a bit annoying. I also find it a bit on the big size but this is all to do with personal preference. I would also NEVER use the camera because it takes so long to take a photo, especially if you take one with the flask on.

Apart from that, if you want a phone which doesn't appear to break (like so many phones seem to do at the moment) then this is a safe option.

I really don't understand what is all the fuss around g600 about? Me & my husband got our new phones yesterday, me the Samsung g600, him the Sony Ericsson k770i.

We spent all evening playing with them, comparing pictures etc. What a disappointment! My Samsung kept freezing every few minutes, then going dead to the point that the only way to bring it back to life was by taking battery out & then inserting it back. Maybe it is faulty, but I know some people had same problem, so there has to be something wrong there.

Amazingly the pictures taken with k770i (3.2MP) were much sharper & colours closer to reality than g600 (5MP). & I did use it at highest picture quality settings. I think it has to be the lens that makes all the difference.

Samsung's response was much slower than k770i, when playing with menu & settings. The only good thing about g600 for me was the fact that bigger screen makes Internet browsing a bit more comfortable.

I am going to send it back on Monday & get k770i, as it is much friendlier to use. I like the looks of g600, but at the end of the day it's more about usability than being pretty.

I used to have the Samsung E900 & was put off Samsungs at the time because of this. I just couldn't get on with the over sensitive keys, but Samsung have now won me back! After my E900 experience, I ended up going back to Nokia's, but found my Nokia 6300 just nowhere near matched the Samsung's photo & video quality. So I thought I would give the Samsung G600 a try, & boy I haven't regretted my decision once! The G600 is just that little bit bigger than the E900, which I much prefer, it actually feels like you're holding a proper phone in your hand, & gone are those terrible touch sensitive keys, instead you've got normal push button keys which is much, much better. It's very simple to use, takes brilliant pictures & videos, & also when it rings, I can hear it even outside where it may be noisier than inside.

To sum it up, I would highly recommend the G600, well worth the money.

My main annoyances are the connectivity with a PC. The current CD Rom that I received was only compatible with Windows XP & 2000. I run Vista. I'd have thought that Samsung, in 2008, could have supplied a disc that caters for everyone. Mac users beware apparently there is also trouble with syncing your phone!

To solve this I downloaded an updated version of the PC suite (link down below) instead of inserting the disc, which let me install the phone drivers. Upon connecting my phone, it was now read on my computer & so I selected 'Mass Storage' using the memory card.

It was a choice between the Nokia n95 & the Samsung G600. I had to go with pay as you go & the Nokia n95 was a very highly priced phone so, I went for the Samsung G600. I've had this phone for 2 months now.

I wanted a 5MP camera for when I went on my Skiing holiday. This camera took some FANTASTIC pictures! I don't understand why people don't like it. To be fair, to take any decent quality pictures, you have to hold the camera very steady for about 2 seconds.

The volume isn't that high, which is a shame, but it's like that with ALL Samsung phones, although, when called, the phone is easily heard. When standing on the top of a mountain with many people shouting & screaming, I heard mine. :D Also, like most Samsung phones, the G600 is a bit slow. When texting & searching through menus this can be a bit annoying. My friend lent me his Samsung U600, & I found that it had the same problem with the volume & slowness. The G600 has a whole bunch of extra things which I had a lot of fun looking through. I like the way you can create your own themes.

Getting on to the camera can be quite slow but that's only a problem if you're impatient or in a hurry to take a picture. In which case, you should get a digital camera. This phone does scratch a fair bit if you're not careful, but again, it's like that with most phones. I can only say; don't drop it!

The display is AWESOME! It is so clear & with the big screen, it looks FANTASTIC! I love it! The phone has a decent amount of memory & with the 1GB micro SD card that came with the phone is inserted, I found that you have enough space to store music. After all, this is a phone not an iPod. I am extremely happy with this phone & there is not one moment where I regretted buying it!

I hope this helped. Bye for now Josh.

OK this is my honest opinion with no bias. I bought it recently because the package on the surface looked good.
- 5 MP camera.
- 1 GB memory card supplied.
- Free Bluetooth headset.

What I like about this phone.
- Slide.
- Design.
- Slim.
- Big Screen.

What I dislike about this phone (some of these are quite specific).

- Camera no way as good as it should be. Difficult to take good pictures. The worst 5MP camera I've ever seen.
- No light! This is needed when you're in the dark. Looking for something. Surprising because other Samsung phones have them.
- Predictive texts hardly remembers any words you insert .
- USB cable is dodgy. Many times not connecting.
- Calls take longer to connect.
- Picture of person not displayed on outgoing calls & incoming text messages (if you have saved one for them).
- Contacts (in phonebook) cannot be scrolled through just by their names. Their phone numbers are also displayed.
- Less user friendly when wanting to call a contact on a different no. On Sony phones you can just press the direction key to scroll through.
- Free Samsung Bluetooth difficult to insert in ear is not very stable. It does its job but sound can be unclear. It is better to get one you can hook around the ear.
- Cannot press direction button as spacebar for next word.
- When idle, screen is blank with no time display like in Sony Ericsson phones.

Overall I am disappointed because this was my first upgrade after 2 years & now I am stuck with this for another 18 months. But it is a good deal if you want to save money because you get a free Bluetooth headset & 1GB memory card.

However if you want a phone that is user friendly with good features I say look elsewhere.

Finally TO THOSE WHO FIND IT DIFFICULT TO CONNECT WITH USB here's a trick. Connect the phone & open Windows Media Player. This always picks the phone up! Afterwards open Phone studio & you'll find you're connected!

I have just bought the G600 purple after returning the G800 (which I was thoroughly disappointed with). I am really disappointed with this too & I much preferred my D900.

I do mostly like the phone & am a Samsung addict, it looks great & I just can't help liking it but all this does not compensate for the TRULY AWFUL camera.

I have tried altering all the settings & am still in disbelief that the camera is so bad? Even when I do manage to take a half decent photo, when I go back to look at the photo later, it is blocky & blurred, as if there are only about 100 pixels! The delay on taking pictures is also annoying (I thought Samsung would have eradicated this by now). Am I doing something wrong or have others found the same problems with the camera? I have wondered whether it is faulty but I don't think it is because the G800 I sent back was just as bad.

HELP! I was thinking of exchanging for a Sony K850i (my brother's takes outstanding photos that put the G600 to shame) but according to reviews on here, that seems to have problems of its own.

Any advice appreciated thanks.

I love this phone. I bought it yesterday & have spent a good few hours going through the manual & trying out the various features. I found taking pictures with the camera a little bit awkward when using the side button but overall I liked the camera. The difference between 2.5 & 5 megapixels isn't apparent until you view the pictures on a computer screen. The screen on the phone although good can't show 5 megapixels because the resolution isn't high enough. I had difficulty at first sending MMS messages but that was down to incorrect setting for my service provider. To the gentleman who couldn't play the MP3s in album order you need to create a playlist & then add the tracks in album order. The tracks will then be played in playlist order. You CAN change the message tone albeit to one of four presets. There are a lot of hidden features to this phone which the manual doesn't make clear. Like any new device it takes time to get used to.

I was torn between the Sony Ericsson k850i & this phone. I wanted a really good camera & easy phone to use. I hate touch screen phones, so that's what really swung me towards choosing this one.

It's a nice looking phone & fits nicely in the hand, I have had 3 Samsung phones before & mostly all slide of flip phones, so that's another reason why I chose this.

The texting is easy, but sometimes I get the predictive text wrong as it's not as fast to react to typing as the d900.

The camera has proved disappointing on nights out. When I put the flash on it is just so bright it does not give a realistic colour at all. There is also a delay when you use the flash, so if you take a photo of someone they tend to move & won't stay still for 10 seconds.

It's got novelty applications such as warping & styling such as making pictures black & white & sepia etc.

There is not much variety of message tones.

Overall I am happy with the phone & probably would have gone with the Sony for the camera but I know I wouldn't have gotten on with the bar phone & the touch screen.

I have had no faults with this phone yet, & the radio quality is fabulous!

- It will say new messages come down to message alert tone.
- Press select. You then have a choice of 4 message tones. Choose 1 & press select & it will save. GOOD LUCK.

Also if you can find your emotions for your texts when in text press 4, 3 3 (there are in clipart) Cheers Sue.

People with the flickering light problem don't be lazy & do easy option of getting a replacement phone do the trial & error method of looking into your settings it's not hard to do & will save you a hell of a lot of time but for people who still can't sort it out by finding it themselves go onto settings light settings keypad light & then change it from whatever it is to anytime this will not flicker when texting.
