Samsung G400 3G Phone Review

The Samsung G400 is a fashionable & stylish clamshell opening phone which is a member of the Soul Ultra edition which stands for the Spirit Of Ultra. The Samsung G400 is also known as the Samsung Clamshell Soul as it is a clamshell version of the exquisite Samsung U900 Soul. The size of the casing is slim which is why this stunning 3G phone is a member of the Soul ultra range. It measures 15.2mm in depth, 51.5mm in width & 102.8mm tall. The Samsung G400 Clamshell Soul is an imaging & fashion focused handset which comes with touch screen controls & a smooth bodied casing. The casing is mainly coloured black but has silver coloured metal effect on its curved edges which add style to this glamorous 3G phone.

The 3G phone comes with dual screen which allows the user to use their handset both in its closed & opened positions. The external screen is a 2.2 Inch touch screen which comes with a 240 pixel by 320 pixel screen resolution & the internal screen is a standard TFT screen which has the same screen resolution & screen size as the external screen. The user can view high colour & high resolution images on both screen but enjoy the touch screen on the external screen only.

An amazing 5 megapixel camera feature provides the user with high quality imaging & photo features on their new mobile phone. The camera comes with high quality features which include an auto focus which avoids the user taking a blurry shot, a flash feature which will brighten up those night time shots & a face detection feature which will automatically focus on a person's face when the user is taking a photo with a person in it. A built in image stabiliser allows the user to make slight movements when taking a photo which will not affect the overall outcome of the picture taken. When the Samsung G400 is in its opened position the user can see a small second camera which is built into the phones hinge & this well located second camera can be used for 3G video calling purposes. The user can transfer music, video & pictures files between their phone & other devices using either a Bluetooth® wireless connection or a USB cabled connection between the two compatible devices. The Bluetooth® wireless connection provides the user with a cable & tangle free connectivity option which allows the user to connect to other devices without the use of wires when the devices are up to 10 metres apart. The Samsung G400 comes with a memory card slot which allows the user to insert a memory card to expand their phones memory capabilities & the phone supports MicroSD™ type memory cards.

A built in WAP browser allows the user to connect to the Internet on their phone which is a fast Internet connection thanks to the phones built in 3G HSDPA technology. The user can enjoy a high speed connection & XHTML or HTML internet experience. The Samsung G400 supports a text messaging service, mobile email service & a multimedia messaging service. The user can create a message containing a picture or video complete with sound & text which can be sent to any compatible multimedia messaging contact in the user phone book. The multimedia messaging service is a popular was to share pictures & video clips & is an easy service to use. Does anyone know where I can buy this phone in the UK? from having read reviews it's not being released here but do not really want to buy from Japan, USA or even eBay. Have emailed Samsung & other websites asking but not one of them being of any help. Hope someone out there knows the answer.

This phone is now not actually going to come onto the UK market due to all the kiddies candy bar designs that have flooded the 5 big UK retailers, not to mention the lack of a sales market in flip & clamshell designs generally. Sorry all. The only place to buy one would be across the channel. It's a shame because this is truly the market leader for this type of handset but market forces dictate the new releases.

Review update, Note to Stavros I removed the protective lens cover. Not that silly dear me. O2 have had a few back I found out it's a fault with a few of these phones. Got a Nokia 6220 classic now & it's boss.

The phone looks OK. I want to see it first before buying it. The features are OK on the phone but I think the screen is a bit small but I like all other Samsung phones so I have got to see it. If it's too small I will go & buy the Motorola V8.

Wow can't wait for this phone to be released over in the UK (hoping it comes to Orange) & well I never! I want it bad it's a lot nicer than the soul & the keypad just rocks, plus I love flip phones my phone (Nokia 6500 slide) has problems like resetting the settings back to the manufacturer & I am on my third one so the next time they will replace it! I was going to get the Moto V8 but I think I'll hang out until this beauty is released!
