I have been using this phone for around 3 months now, I have had my ups & downs with it.

Conceptually the phone & music player idea is brilliant, however like a lot of Samsung phones they have fiddly non intuitive software on which makes using it a real struggle.

Here are the negative points of the phone.

- Web Browser, this is completely impossible to use. When viewing web pages the phone flips over so that you can browse a web page on the nice big screen on the back of the phone (great!) but how do you enter a URL or type into Google as the keys are on the other side of the phone? Well the clever folks at Samsung have decided that you need to type text using the arrow keys used to skip tracks on the MP3 player. This is time consuming & almost impossible to use.

- The main Select OK button, as soon as you press that very large button on the phone that is used as the select key (on some sub menus only) the phone switches over to the web browser on the back of the phone, you then need to press another key in order to switch the phone back so that you can make a call. This is extremely frustrating & there appears to be no way of turning this feature off. Every other key can be modified with the exception of this! Very Very annoying.

- Music Player, this would have been great if the phone would recognise albums in the file system. Instead you have to create playlists to tell the phone that you have copied an album. Instead what happens is you end up scrolling through endless tracks trying to locate individual songs. (who wants to spend all their time creating playlists for every album you own). They almost had a great product here but ruined the idea with a sloppy interface!

-The screen used for the phone really is very small, you get used to it after a while, but once you have had a few bears it gets very difficult to make out. Which brings me on to my next point texting.

- Texting, very small screen, very hard to do. Once you have sent a certain amount of characters (15 plus words) the phone displays a message 2nd message (which most phones do indicating a multipart message) however with the f300 the predictive text stops working unless you enter a few irrelevant characters e.g. xxx or you get trapped in a weird loop. Also after sending a message if you want to check your sent messages folder it seems to randomly choose what ends up in here. On average I would say it stores around 1 out of every 3 messages you send.

- Call quality, call quality & reception, probably one of the worst phones I have come across for both of the above. Also if you accidently leave music on pause or are in the music player section & the flip the screen to use the phone you won't be able to hear the caller on the other end, although they can hear you.

Positives.
- Style, I do like the look of the phone.
- It comes with a secondary battery back built in to the cover of the phone which gives the phone a long battery life.
- The external speaker is quite good quality. I like to turn the music player on if I am out & about (on beach etc)
- Robust, the phone has an inbuilt battery that can't be removed, so if you drop it things don't come flying off it. Battery dropping out & SIM on the floor etc. Although I am sure you could find a hundred other phones that are more robust. But it does feel well made

Well I do think the idea behind the phone is a good one, if Samsung pulled their finger out & sorted the annoying glitches with the software on the phone I think they would have a good product.

Design, I love the two sided design. It's slick, very thin & easy to pocket (unless you use the huge bulky battery pack, which unfortunately useful).

Features.
- I hate that there is no JAVA support, so don't think about playing games.
- the MP3 player on the switch screen is very nice, but the sound is too low for my liking. Besides, it only plays songs from your music folder, which is saved in the phone. It doesn't play songs stored on your memory card, & that means you can't play a lot of songs on the big screen at the back.
- Messaging wise its okay, the buttons are nice to press.
- Phone doesn't support self customized ringtone or text alerts, it only uses MP3 files for ringtones.
- Camera is quite fine, but the screen resolution of the camera on both sides are annoying.
- the screen on one side is too small.
- There are only 2 boring skins.
& many more.

It is a great phone. Sleek design. Battery life is not that bad. Touch sensitive pads on music side are supposed to be TOUCH SENSITIVE. Anyone who finds this feature hard to use needs to handle the phone more briskly.

ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT! No Java Support.

I have this phone for 9 months & can't wait to swap with another phone as with a deal from Carphone Warehouse. Whilst texting, inserting a comma is like travelling to Lands End.
The multimedia screen not user friendly at all. Strangely enough, the handset is quite popular amongst children.

A lovely looking phone but completely useless. Great sound if you can actually get it to play a song without switching off. Texting is a pain as you can't insert a word when in predictive text. Samsung could have had the phone of the decade with this model, but its difficulty of use lets it down shame that Samsung mustn't have tested the phone before they released it.

Had this phone for 6 months now & have just got a LG Chocolate in the sale & am so relieved to have got rid of the Samsung. If you actually plan on moving about when using this phone, don't get it. Using the MP3 & then flipping screen to try & text is a nightmare when on the move, the MP3 side is so super sensitive that once you select the track you want to listen to & have the right volume, then put it in your pocket. Just like that you're now looking at your photo album. I have lost track of how many times I have just stopped using the MP3 side & left it as a phone (defeating the object of having a two sided phone) because it's too much hassle. The same is said when trying to use the camera, the controls are too sensitive so it never got used. If you want a good phone that doubles as an MP3 player, get a new Nokia, easier to use & with more memory. If you want a good MP3 player, get an iPod. The only good point in owning this phone is that when you're down the pub everyone will want a look (this is only good until you have to tell them it's rubbish).

Hi I have had the phone for about 4 months now. It's a brilliant phone apart from its lack of java support. I just wanted to know how to get the battery pack or case working as mine does not. If the battery is low & plugged into the battery pack or case it doesn't charge like said, but when the phone is ON the battery pack or case is shown connected despite this doesn't work!

Can someone please help me as I am sick & tired of charging the phone almost twice a day! Thanks AJ.

Such an utterly stylish mobile phone! It is beautiful! Am getting this phone soon & I am going to get the RED one! Anyways it's a shame how it won't vibrate & ring at the same time & the MP3 keypad is too sensitive, other than that messaging is superb (a few of my colleagues has it). Would recommend to peeps who love music & fast messaging & stylish phones!

Absolute quality. Just bought it & I am speechless.

Design, Double sides are great. Big & small screen are extremely clever. Buttons are very easy to use. Text size is nice & big, only downside is you can't see your texts in full.

Features, MP3 Player is good, speech is amazing. Seen the comments about the battery life being rubbish. Not mine, great life, 17 hours plus using it a lot. Standard alarm, calculator etc all good.

Usability, Texting is so easy. The buttons are easy to press & small screen & big letters help. MP3 can get frustrating but once used to it, fine.

All in all a great phone that I would recommend to anyone:-).

Have had this phone for about 4 months now & have recently changed to my wife's old Samsung slide phone.

Initial thought was that it was a great concept, with the dedicated MP3 player. Unfortunately life is woeful & the phone reception is terrible, to the point where if you put the phone in your trouser pocket you get limited service! Have lost track of the number of calls & text I have missed due to this.

In brief this phone is good idea poorly executed.

I have had this phone since it was released (about ten months ago? ) & I only came across this site because I am looking to change it. At first I thought the phone was superb: the design is excellent, especially keeping the MP3 player separate from the phone. Then I found the severe lack of programmes annoying, such as the useless calendar, surely Samsung could have put normal type of calendar on the large screen side?

At this point I was ready to accept that this phone was solely for MP3, s (which is excellent, especially with a Bluetooth stereo headset), texting (which is very clear despite the small screen), & calling. But was I wrong!

NETWORK SIGNAL is terrible! Even when I am in a city centre with supposedly good signal, it fluctuates! I have been cut off mid-call so many times it is a joke! It almost seems that if I venture more than a mile from a signal mast the phone is too unstable to make a proper call!

Hope this is helpful.

I have had this phone since July & all I have had are hassles. First it had to be changed within a week. Then the battery runs out after a couple of calls. Using the battery pack makes it a bit big. Now my battery pack is not working, & I have been sent on a wild goose chase to find out if it can be fixed. Eventually Samsung has said they will replace the pack as it is within warranty. I always buy Samsung phones but this is the worst. WITHOUT the BATTERY PACK IT IS USELESS!

Honestly the style of the phone is good that's what made me get it in the first place. There are no games at all & there aren't many activities. The camera on the big screen isn't easy to use if you're trying to take pictures of yourself because of the sensitive keypads. At time I think I am taking a picture but it goes back to the menu screen. There aren't any options for camera effect, no flash. The volume isn't very good either, not very loud. No calculator, calendar format is poor. It doesn't give you the day it just says the date month & year e.g. 30 Nov 2007 it doesn't say whether it's a Friday. So if you wanted to check if you were free or what day something falls on you can't. My advice don't get it I've had it for 3 months & I am changing it.

The phone is really nice to look at. Very easy to use. Only had it a few days. The only letdown I see. Is the camera is utter rubbish compared to almost every phone I've had in the past (I've had a lot of phones) & I also read that this phone comes with games. It has none & on such a small screen, I don't think playing games would be very good to be honest. However flip the phone over to the music side of things, & watching videos, viewing photos. Absolutely amazing. No complaints at all. My phone came pre loaded with a video of a break dancer which was pretty cool, shame about the song that came with it as I am not a fan of Beyounce or however you spell her name. If I was to give this phone an overall rating out of 10. I'd give it a 9. Fix the camera with some shake control & it's an easy 10.

I have been using for 3 months now. Firstly it is one of the most stylish mobile phone ever produced. The text messaging is a piece of cake, thanks to the buttons that are pretty easy to press. The quality of the music produced is also fantastic. But this phone doesn't have any games (even if it has, there's no way you can), the camera isn't as good as expected. There is also no calculator or calendar only tells you today's date. But for its design n the fact that it is dual sided with sensitive touch controls, the wow factor is there. So unless you want an awesome music phone, or you want that wow factor, this phone will not be up to your expectations.

MP3 player is crisp & clear & very easy to use. Texting is easy even though you text on small screen. Buy this phone if you want to get noticed & stylish.

Have had this phone less than a week & think it's great. Was told by Orange it was exclusive & no longer available because it was a limited edition. Found it in Carphone Warehouse where it was available on Orange & T-Mobile after been lied to by the Orange shop went with T-Mobile. If I may take this opportunity to answer a couple of questions:

Kevin:
No option for wallpaper, not much point on small screen that turns off after approx 15 seconds.

Ashley From London:
Hope you get to read this.
Menu - Applications - World Clock - Set to London, Lisbon etc. Save.
Back to Menu - Settings - Time & Date - Auto Update.
Set that to Manual. Scroll down. Type time. Scroll down. Set Format. Scroll down. Type date.

Hope that helps.

This phone is brill, I don't know people say the battery life is rubbish, maybe they have a broken one. I was listening to my music for a 5 hour car journey, & then when I arrived I had about a 10 minute phone call & then around 12 texts & the phone still had 1 bar out of 3 battery life, it can take 5 hours of straight music 12 texts & a 10 minute phone call with battery to spare, all of this was without using the cool batter/case you get with it!

Love this phone & I would recommend it!

Hey, I have had this phone for a couple of months now, it does take getting used to but when you know how it is very easy to use. The trouble with this phone is it doesn't have loudspeaker so you cannot put your calls on loudspeaker.

The case acts as a case but also a battery, the phone connects to the bottom of the case & when it is connected your phone then has 2 batteries, this is good incase your phone is running low. Also if you are out & you phone runs out of battery you plug it into the case & the phone will then charge, you can then take the phone out of the case. You can use it as a case but you will always have the extra battery.

It sounds confusing, but really its not! Hope it helped!

This phone is amazing, because it has 2 sides you feel weary to lay it down, but I have been & I am surprised to say it hasn't damaged at all, which is great. The phone is small which means the battery is small, it doesn't last as long as a bigger phone but still lasts a long time, & the clever case with a built in battery keeps a long battery life, the case is also small so it doesn't make the phone really big which is great!

I have had this phone for about a month now, & still nothing wrong & there is absolutely nothing I dislike or can complain about, this phone is fantastic. The music player is fantastic the sound is great. The large screen also does a lot more than just music, you can have your pictures full screen which is great, you can also look through your contacts & read your messages on the large screen. I thought the small screen would be hard to use & see. Its not! It is very easy to see & use. Also because it is so thin it only has a small battery, which you think wouldn't last long, well you're wrong, I charge mine & can listen to music send messages & take pictures for days & days which is fantastic.

I upgraded to this phone from the Samsung E900, & I hated the touch sensitive buttons, but on this phone its different, they are easy to use, & because it is double sided the touch buttons don't cancel a call or a text message. It is sooo amazing how the touch pad can do so many different things. I am very glad I upgraded.

Design - 95%, a lot of people have been saying bad things about the phone due to it's small screen phone side, I found that once you're used to it, it's not so bad, rather nice in fact & has the feel of a back to basics phone on that side, but more like an iPod or something media side. It's a very nice phone to use, it just feels sharp. Takes a little getting used to.

Features - 80%, I was a little let down by the lack of a speakerphone, & no games to be seen. I was happy with the alarm, timer, stopclock, music, etc, & am glad to finally have a half-decent Camera.

Usability - 85%, after getting used to the screen, & the changing, I found the only real trouble was accidentally hitting a button on the touchpad media side that I didn't want to, & having to go through it all again to get to that point. Using that side to type is a pain in the bits as well, & totally not worth it if you're planning on using the Internet a lot.

Overall - 90% (ish), the phone leaves something to be desired in the way of practicality, but thanks to my using habits I am pleased with it, & find it a pleasure to use. It does look really cool after all!

Nice compact phone. The phone side could have used a larger screen but is obviously restricted due to its size & compactivity. I was also made up with the wallet case which contains an extra battery & was initially impressed with its overall build & features. The phone was bought for use in an office environment however there is no speakerphone facility to bring a caller into a meeting. I have consulted both Orange & Samsung UK & am told it must be an error on the advertising. Somewhat definitely unimpressed with the situation so it's back to the Orange.
