Samsung E330 Review

The Samsung E330 is a slim & sleek mobile phone which comes in a very smooth silver coloured casing. The E330 has a very tactile oval shaped casing & is very easily opened in a clamshell mechanism. The E330 comes from the same family as the Samsung E350 mobile phone but that is where the similarities end as they are both very differently featured & styled phones.

The E330 comes with two screens & both have very clear 65k colour screens. The external screen (96 x 96 pixels) can display a clock face so the user can easily check the time & it can also displays the callers photo identification which can be great fun. The caller photo identification feature can display the callers face on the screen & the Samsung E330 provides a very clear quality image. In the open position the phone displays an internal screen (128 x 160 pixels) & a colourful ergonomic keypad.

The built in VGA camera comes complete with an integrated flash & 4 x digital zoom. The camera feature is highly useable & provides the user with a beautifully crisp photo output. The user can also personalise their photos using the enhancement features which allows the user to select from up to fourteen fun frames & five different photo effects.

The phone comes with two embedded games which are SnowBallFight & BubbleSmile. The user can select more games for their E330 mobile by downloading the games from the Samsung Fun Club game zone.

The E330 includes a very useful voice clarity feature which allows the phone to automatically increase its volume & clarity of incoming calls when the user is in a crowd which makes the caller much more audible. The phone can automatically senses the volume around the user to enhance the conversation clarity & this saves the user from having to run off into other rooms or areas to seek a quieter place to take calls. The E330 comes with an integrated speakerphone which also incorporates the voice clarity feature which allows the user to talk with ease using the speakerphone.

The sound quality is very good & the phone is capable of playing the most natural sounds, human voices, sweet jazz rhythms, & classical music & forty polyphonic melodies.

The user can send messages very simply & freely with the Samsung E330 which includes text messaging (SMS), enhanced messaging (EMS) & multimedia messaging (MMS). The multimedia messaging service allows the user to send text, pictures & sound all in one message to any multimedia message (MMS) compatible mobile phone.

I had this phone for 18 months or more & have always found it to be pretty good in most areas. The camera was one of the best at the time I got it; the flash is an extremely handy addition, & the effects are fun to play around with. The menu was pretty easily laid out (although I did originally have trouble adjusting to it from a Nokia style phone) & most settings were pretty easy to work out.

The two main things that annoyed me with this phone were...

1) Every time you change a setting/send a message/set the alarm clock etc it makes a noise, & not just a beep, it plays a little tune & there is no way of switching it off without turning off all of the other sound. Extremely irritating after awhile.

2) It has the ability to take photo's with the cover closed as there is a little button on the side, handy, however it has a nasty habit of taking lots & lots of pictures of the inside of your pocket/bag (again making the irritating noise mentioned above) which fills up your memory with blank pictures pretty quick.

Overall though, pretty nice sleek, well thought out phone.

It's nice to hold & is shaped well, the camera is good, the games aren't great the key pad is much prettier than other phoned & easy to use, the numbers come up clearly, it would be better if it had a recorder & more frames. The simple silver makes the phone look more sophisticated & its gorgeous, a very good phone to buy & is considerably cheaper than others.

The two features I like best on the E330 are:

1) The camera feature that allows you to enhance your photos with framing & gives you a choice of photo effects.

2) The phone automatically increases its volume on incoming calls when you are in a crowd.

It takes so much time doing things that I have lost patients with it a little. Finding the menus hard to follow but it may be user error & not all the phones fault, but I am finding it hard to use. Sorry not happy with the E330 but it is only a week old.

I did not realise when I got the E330 that it was lacking Bluetooth connectivity, my fault for not reading the features properly. Not really a problem having no Bluetooth as the E330 works well in every other area.
