Hi, I got this phone two years ago, it was already one year old, so 3 years old, I got in red, & loved the look. The games are OK, & I had no problem with the slide, though the memory is small, I got a card, but couldn't fit all the texts from me bf on which I wanted to keep, so I had to delete some. Also it's very hard to break, I tried dropping i'ts from trees, & using a saw, it still works. I am getting a cookie today so bye bye D900. Oh & about the battery, it's very good it would charge in about 10 minutes, & last 5 days, just recently that has gone down a bit though.

Nice design but not fit for purpose. The main problem is with the screen which, as other reviewers have pointed out, is very prone to random cracking. YES, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DROP IT, IT JUST BREAKS. My wife's screen cracked after less than 12 months very light use & it had suffered no dropping or abuse.
It's obviously a very thin screen & Samsung have pushed the design too far & produced a very vulnerable screen which can't cope. Needless to say, Samsung are in denial about any problem, a cracked screen is ALWAYS the customer's fault. Choose another make (I am really happy with my Nokia).

Well, I have had this model of phone for about 2 years now. This phone is the best I have had for reliability. The first one I had, I went to the beach with my friends, & I put the phone in my bikini pocket (bad idea)! & I forgot about it, & ran in the water & went body boarding, & when I got out I almost had a heart attack, I had my phone in my pocket! Surprisingly it stayed in my pocket, but it had been in the sea for about half an hour, I tried to switch it on & it didn't work, anyway about a week later I tried switching it on again, & it worked perfectly, the camera worked as good as it did before & the Bluetooth & music player worked great, I couldn't believe it! But I had already got a new d900 with my insurance.
If you are looking for a good reliable phone then I would definitely recommend this, it works after being in the sea for half an hour, now that's saying something for a phone!

I bought this phone in April, I have no problems with it. I love the music player & design. The quality of the pictures is very good but the camera is extremely slow. The memory is also very small on the phone but that problem is easily solved using a memory card! I think Samsung should have added a theme function & improved the reaction time, but I would still definitely recommend this mobile phone. Buy it!

Had this phone for 12 months now. It is a very good phone. Takes excellent pictures (if on the best setting). Battery life is & always has been very good. The only things that I have found to be irritating is that it is difficult to slide the phone open one handed, there is not a sufficient ridge to grip on to, & some of the menus are not user friendly or intuitive. The phone is now looking a bit worn but still works perfectly.
Overall a great phone, generally easy to use.

I have owned the d900 for 18 months now & never had a problem, would recommend it any day, good phone, looking for an upgrade at the moment but hard to find anything with such good reliability as this. Features are typical Samsung, not great but remember this phone is a few years old now, battery life is good unless you are constantly taking photos etc but that's expected. An all round good phone.

I have this phone close to two years & had just one problem, when somebody crush my screen. I had around 27 phone's before every one just for a few months, but this one I like so much. I don't want to change this phone for another brand. It's simple to use it & I can recommed it.

Lovely phone. Easy to use, however only had it 8 months & there is something wrong with the screen. Top half has gone blank. Only able to see part of the picture, think the rest might go very soon. Don't know why it has happened.

Had this phone for ages & the screen suddenly decided to go black? I guess it broke inside on the LCD plate but there was no force to do this. Great phone & stylish, slim & easy to use but get the TOCCO! This is dated now. Can't believe they still fetch £100 on eBay!

Had this phone for nearly 2 years, never had a problem with it & never dropped it or mishandled it in any way.
Put it on charge then all of a sudden the screen stopped working! The phone still works as I can still phone people & play music, but cannot see a thing.
I am very angry as had many precious photographs that weren't stored in my memory card. I would consider buying another as it is a very good phone. I just do not understand why the screen just decided to stop working!

I had this phone for about a year. No major problems, however, the battery is very weak compared to other mobiles I owned. The design is great, it's very light & thin. The features are nothing compared to Nokia or Sony Ericsson, you can't customize anything. The camera is very very poor, its performance is similar to VGA phones unless you hold your hand steady for 5 seconds & there is enough light.
I do not recommend it at all.

I had my first D900 2 years ago on contract with Orange. I can honestly say that I never had a single problem & I loved it. My husband inherited it a few months ago when I bought the D900i pink. Wanted the FM radio which is also fabulous. When that was lost in June, I was gutted! Went straight onto eBay & bought another! They are easy to navigate, battery life for mine have always been excellent (about 3 days with normal use), sound quality with the earphones very good. I can't imagine using any other model! By the way, the D900 was buried last week as my husband sat on it & the screen died.

This phone looks nice & is easy to use. I have had it for about 8 months, the battery lasts for no time at all now. & under the screen there is a really weird bubble & so the display on it is rubbish. It freezes constantly & the messaging memory is absolutely tiny. Thinking it may help I put an micro sd card in it but this has just slowed the whole phone down.

The Samsung D900i is a handset that looks stunning due to its amazing looks & slide open design. The Samsung Mobile Phones has a TFT display screen that measures 32 x 42 mm & gives resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. Its screen supports 2576 Samsung D900iK colours & thus the device can show pictures & videos with a very sharp resolution power.

Hey! I got this phone for Christmas 2007 & now in July 2008 the internal screen has suddenly cracked. I am hugely disappointed as this was a good phone. I feel its fault was how thin it was. It's easy to use & stylish but just not practical.

Had my D900 phone for over 12 months, not one major problem at all.
No screen cracks (not kept in back pocket & then sat on). Medium to light usage the battery will last around 3 plus days of a proper full charge (& still on original battery). If I had to find fault you can't set the message alert tone to a ringtone of your choice & if you use a micro SD memory card, when you select memory card of options list you have to wait around 4 seconds for it to access the card & load the info, not really freezing. MP3 player is pretty good for this phone but when you plug your headphones in then you get the real sound, loud bass, high notes. Camera fine point & press, flash is good up to about 2 meters, like I say a good all rounder, not the best, but definitely not the worst.

I had my Samsung D900i phone less than 24 hour when I had my first problem. Charged phone until it said it was Fully Charged, 24hrs later the battery was dead. Hum, thought it was a battery problem so I told (timtechs.ca) this is the useless store I purchased it from. They were kind enough to send me a replacement battery after I had to prove there was a problem. Anyway, the replacement battery after being fully charge lasted 10hrs. & the phone was on standby when it died. I didn't even use the phone. Five or six emails later to complain about my phone, timtechs.ca said it is a battery problem not a phone problem so I could not receive a RMA on the phone. I solved the problem myself. I smashed the phone into a thousand pieces. I no longer have a problem with my Samsung D900i Phone. Please don't buy this phone, it garbage! & don't buy from timtech.ca. They can't help you. I'll never do either!

The D900i is a very good phone with nice features & great design but there are a few things you need to be aware of, I bought this phone about 2 weeks ago & the screen just cracked while it was in my pocket. I didn't drop the phone, didn't push the screen. This is not covered by the warranty so I just wasted 169 Euros. Also, battery life isn't that great.

Had the phone 5 months. Battery no longer holds charge.
Returned the phone. They opened the back, they say water damage, not covered by warranty as a marker has changed colour, (needless to say it's never been in water).
I am trying to continue with the claim under the Sale of Goods Act which states that items must be fit for their purpose. Under the Act if the item is under 6 months old it is for retailers to prove that the fault was caused by the customer, rather than the other way round.
Phone not recommended.

My wife has had this phone for 9 months, then for no apparent reason the screen has cracked internally, it was not dropped or miss treated at all, T Mobile from whom we bought the phone advise this is not covered by warranty. Having compared the screen to friends other phones it does not appear to be anywhere near as robust. Beware.

I have had this for a year. It was fantastic for the first 6 months. Then as stated by others the phone died. I took it back to Orange & they tried a new battery. I then purchased a new battery. I am glad I am not the only one to have problems with the battery. I've had my D900 since December last year. All was going fine until this week when the battery just decided to die. After charging it up overnight, I only sent about 10 texts yesterday & when I got up this morning the phone was completely dead again.
Have taken it back to the shop, but they have to send it away for repair & I am now without a phone for 2 to 3 weeks. Luckily I have a spare Samsung D600 which is about 4 years old & still going strong.
I love my Pink D900, but have had the same problems as others with the battery, slow shutter speed on the camera & am a little fed up you have to use their pathetic alert tones for texts.

Had this for 18 months, never had a single problem. Camera focus is excellent, pictures are of better quality than a lot of higher megapixel camera phones e.g. Samsung G600. This phone is quite nice, it feels quite solid. I upgraded from a Sony Ericsson W300i. I have so say that not all the features are wholly intuitive. It took me some time to get used to texting.
I also wish that I could set the message tone to a MP3 like my last phone. Instead, I am stuck with 4 presets.
Performance is sluggish with a 1GB card. It is worse when trying to view pictures (400KB) on the memory card, there is a multi second delay in scrolling in the menu.
The MP3 is very nice. I prefer the sound to the W300i.
The camera is a 50 50 ordeal. Photo quality is very nice & the flash does its job, but the shutter lag is very frustrating.
USB connection is very slow. It took me three hours to upload photos to the phone.

I have had this phone for 18 months & I have had absolutely no problems at all with it. & to all those who complain that it's not very durable & that the screen cracks too easily, I say that if you are at all likely to be careless or heavy handed with a phone, you probably shouldn't buy a slide phone but should stick to the more solid, brick type of phone that doesn't have any moving parts!
My only criticism of the D900 is that the volume of the MP3 player is too low & the sound is very tinny.

I have had this phone for over 12 months now & it has always worked well.
I got the D900 red version & so many people have seen my phone & wanted the same one as it is so different to the standard black or silver phones.
I have dropped this phone so many times & it just seems to bounce & never get damaged. I have read many reviews on here saying how the screen is poor & easily cracked, I have never had this issue & I am really not sure what some people do with their phones!
The SD card slot & headphone slot covers are still intact & don't break off unless you are particularly rough, constantly fiddle or play with these I can't see how they would break off.
I upgraded from a Samsung D500 (which I loved) & this felt a lot wider than my previous phone. This didn't take long to get used to though & my previous phone looks a bit like an old fashioned brick now!
The phone is so easy to use & if you get your short cut settings set up properly on your screen then you will rarely have to search through the menus in the phone for text messages, photos & alarm clock etc.
I will probably get another Samsung phone when I next upgrade as they have always proven to me to be reliable & sturdy long lasting phones. My mum now has my previous D500 & its still going strong (3 years later! ) she now has her eye on my red one though waiting for me to upgrade!
I have to say though I would be reluctant to change from this phone though. It is a very good phone.

Hi all, I originally purchased one of these phones when they very first arrived on the scene, & I must admit, apart from the nifty sliding mechanism & the style of the phone, there wasn't really much in it as far as I could see. Until 7 months down the line I was sending a text message & the screen CRACKED!
Now, as the screen cracking was apparently my fault!? I couldn't get a replacement phone under warranty. Anyhow, it was either going to be £60 for a new screen or £80 for a new phone, & so I chose the latter option.
Now, this is the best bit, after owning the phone for just five weeks. This time, the screen did not crack, only the picture kept on flipping upside down, disappearing altogether & generally playing up, until around an hour later, black bars were drifting up & down the pixels!
Fantastic I thought what a letdown & guess what? I can't get a refund or an exchange phone as it is over 30 days old & so has been sent for repair & should be back within 7 to 10 days. Remind me NEVER to get another Samsung phone again! As soon as it returns it is being sold to buy a Nokia again! Better sticking to what I know will work!
Pros. Great looking phone.
Cons. Slow GPRS & WAP. Short battery life during normal use. Very slow camera! Don't even think about taking a photo of anything that is even moving in the slightest! Another point about the camera is that the LED flash is useless unfortunately delicate screen!

Well I have been sat here the last week while reading reviews on the d900, I am coming to the end of my contract & looking into the g800.
I don't know what to say but this has phone has been old faithful to me! First three days after delivery I dropped her in water but she came right as rain. I have never once had a screen issue it is, has not cracked or broken or marked, I previously had d500 & its ribbons went in a matter of week. My z400 was a great little phone to with no problems at all.
This phone never let me down, not on battery life, not on picture quality, not on calling quality. I live in remote country side & always seem to have a signal whether it's the d900 or Orange I do not know. My little girl is always playing with it & taking pictures so it's had a few drops & bashes, you would never know.
I would recommend this phone to anyone, it's definitely a bargain on prepay £69.99! I may just forget the contract & keep this faithful phone.

I have had this phone about 7 months & I would say it is an excellent phone. It is well built & the screen does NOT crack easily, I drop mine all the time. After having my old phone Motorola KRZR for a week & the screen cracked I wanted a phone that would be able with stand the general wear & tear that happens to all phones this one is perfect.
I would recommend it to all, especially teenagers, who tend to be careless like myself.

Read all the earlier reviews before getting this phone, & had it since April 2007. I can honestly say it's great. No screen cracks or problems, no issues with its use during texting or phone calls etc.
Very sleek, smooth operations, sliding operation never failed or broken, lightweight & lovely! It has been used to its limit & never fails me.
Only problem would be the shutter speed on the camera & I wouldn't use it as a replacement for your regular camera, only as a backup.
All in all it gets 9.5 out of 10 from me & I am going to miss it when I change my contract next month.

I've owned the D900 since the week of its launch back in 2006 so have had a fair amount of experience using the handset.
The first one I got given, the screen broke in my pocket from nothing more than a nudge, since replacing the phone I have always ensured to face the screen inwards when carrying in my pocket.
So usability & design, yes the phone is easy enough to navigate for anybody even slightly technically minded. However the keypad has a lip which although you get used to can be annoying at first when texting etc.
Features, this phone has below par features. Camera is rubbish with extremely slow shutter speeds & photos produced pale in comparison with others, namely Sony Ericsson's. The other features of the phone are also lacking or half arsed when compared to other similar range mobiles.
Although my phone is still in functional order I am selling it to replace with the S.E K770i. The main reason for this is the D900 has terrible signal compared to other phones. I have compared on numerous occasions with people with other phones of different manufacturers & have found the D900 to be consistently worse. Also the camera is terrible as aforementioned, & not worth even bothering with unless outside in broad daylight capturing a static object.
Don't buy a D900. Get a Sony Ericsson or anything but a Samsung!

This phone is a marvel. I live in Hampstead, now London. The area is generally notorious for black spots for all networks. In my flat, I always get poor signal (Vodafone & Orange) which 90% of the time will end with a broken call. So far I've used Sony, Motorola & HTC, all can't hold a call due to the poor signal. NOT however the D900 this thing seems to have a strong connection & very rarely loses the call! I am truly amazed that such a slender phone has more power when it comes to signal than the hefty Sony P990 & HTC TyTn (M3100).
This is a great little phone. Strongly recommended.

Apparently the poor battery life that some people have with the D900 is caused by cracked resin & requires the main board to be replaced.
Until recently, Samsung's line was it was not a manufacturing defect & so not covered by their warranty, but apparently there has been a recent internal policy update & they seems to have now recognised that they do have a design & manufacturing problem.
I sent my phone off for repair because of poor battery life some time ago & they refused to do it under warranty & said I would have to pay to have the broken phone returned to me & so I just left it with them.
Then the other day, out of the blue, my phone was returned fixed with the line about the 'recent internal policy update'. The battery life is excellent now.
I'd recommend anyone who has poor battery life to claim under the warranty. Personally I won't be buying a Samsung again because I found their customer service to be appalling.

- Can't change the theme.

If you look after your phone properly then of course the screen won't snap so don't believe everything you here. This phone has served me well over the last year. Highly recommended.

I have had the d900 for about 9 months now & I think it is a good phone, it has a good camera & video although when take video sometimes the video is small on the phone & not full screen but apart from that no problem with the video.
In terms of music & sounds the main problem is that the phone is only compatible with up to 515MB memory card otherwise if use any higher the phone becomes slow. However unable to have real songs as text messaging tune which is a letdown.
I think the build quality of the phone is superb as mine has been dropped so many times by mistake but apart from few odd scratches the phone still works as good as new.
Overall the phone is good & I would recommend it.

It's quite robust because I've dropped it loads of times, I have had it 17months & it's still in one piece! The only thing I don't like is the fact that when I send a text it says it's sent it to the wrong person, but it hasn't, that's really annoying. The ring tones & text alerts are RUBBISH, surely by now Samsung could come up with something better, having said all that, I still love it & it's the only phone I've ever had that I am considering replacing with the same one!

I've had this phone for 18 months & I love it, although I have had to have it repaired twice. First time, the ribbon needed replacing (warranty), other time screen cracked & I had to fork out £50. So it's not very durable but I do like the phone. It's slim & the camera is good. I have just upgraded to a Samsung g800, what a mistake! It feels like I've downgraded, not upgraded, the photo quality is very poor & I am wondering whether its faulty? So it's going back.
All in all the D900 is a fab phone & I would recommend it. I suspect there is an issue with the screen cracking though so I am hoping mine doesn't go again.

What a waste of money! Don't buy a D900 as the quality is not satisfactory at all. This was meant to be a premium mobile but screen cracks very easily. This should be a issue for trading standards as this is not durable & not fit for its purpose (a mobile device). I can't believe I was silly enough to get locked into an 18 month contract with this phone & I've still got 6 months to go. I have no phone as Samsung want to charge me £47 & I am still paying for my contract even though I haven't used it for over a month. Samsung's attitude is it must be your fault. They need to accept that there is a screen issue here else there wouldn't be so many people complaining. What a shame as I have always had Samsung mobile phones & NEVER had a problem before. I will never buy a Samsung again.

How can anyone say this phone is good?
This is the worst phone I have ever had to put up with. The screen is so close to the casing, I have read hundreds of other people talking about how they've cracked the screen. The ribbons inside the phone are terrible, my menu buttons don't work because of the deteriorating ribbons. You can't choose your own tunes as your message tones. You can't have your own themes. The memory card slot breaks & doesn't read the card. It has the worst battery life ever! Please, I warn you, don't buy this phone, it would be the biggest mistake of your life! Unfortunately, I have to put up with this phone for another 4 months, as I am on contract.

Unless you want a broken phone within a few weeks please avoid this phone & the D900i.
In just over 4 weeks my LCD screen cracked & it seems I am not the only one to have suffered from this, the company attitude is that anyone who has had their screen cracked has either dropped or misused their phone, it seems the screen is a fragile thing.
So it seems that when you are sat down & gently closing the phone that's abusing or misusing the phone.

Looks wise, I think the D900 is lovely & is very easy to use although I probably don't make anywhere near full use of its many features. The camera is brilliant as is the video quality & I have loads of music on my micro SD card so am very happy with all that stuff.
The only faults (minor) I can find with my D900 is a not so good as expected battery life (apparently a common complaint!) & a slightly creaky keypad at times. I have thrown it, dropped it, got it wet (not soaking) my son who is a baby has dribbled on it (& worse). It's been a great phone it's lasted 18 months like I said & only now the slide is starting to get a bit stiff & make a noise & the silver OK button as got to be pushed harder than normal. But hey 18 months use out of a phone is good going I was going to upgrade my phone for the G600 until my girlfriend had one (rubbish). So I went out & upgraded my battered D900i. For a brand new D900i, I couldn't ask for a better phone.

This phone has too many faults, the keypad short cuts are not easy to push sometimes. Next the phones playlist can't grasp my 1GB memory card as there isn't enough playlist to fit my songs. If anyone tells you that the battery is good then they are a liar, it last 3 hours. Yes it's not a Walkman but I like my music. The PC studio you get with it should support memory card too. Themes black & white other phones have great themes. I have this phone & I hate it cause of the battery I wish they had thought about it a bit more instead of getting another one on the market.
So what do I like. It came in a nice box & I like the way it looks the fact it has most up-to-date settings like Bluetooth & yeah it's not good for applications the ones you download. Man I must hate my own phone anyone up for a swap?

I previously had the pink E900, which was quite annoying as the touch sensitive buttons meant that often I cancelled things I didn't mean to. However, most of my friends had Samsungs & were happy with them & so I opted for another when I was due an upgrade.
I chose this phone because of its design & O2's offer of £100 Benefit make up vouchers free with the phone. I was very happy with this phone for the first three weeks, despite encountering some problems with the SCREEN, which was compared to my old phone much more sensitive, & when accidentally pressed, the colours would mess up like on a laptop screen. I found this slightly ridiculous as I believe phones should be sturdier.
My D900i Candy is now completely ruined due to the flimsy screen & looks as though it is cracked, although it is not. I am extremely angry as I literally picked it up & it was like that, as though it had been knocked previously & had nothing happen to it until then.
I do not recommend this phone, especially if you, like me, need something sturdier. If you do buy this phone, make a point of buying a case.

Videos can also be taken in mp4 format which I've never known of & they turn out great in case I want to make you tube videos out of them. However, the battery life isn't brilliant, well it is only a tiny battery.

Cons, battery life is poor especially if the Bluetooth is on. You can't add your own message tone. Screen cracks easily, downloaded ringtones are not loud enough.

I have had mine now since November 2006 & cannot fault it other than the battery life is pretty poor, but I will freely admit I am a HEAVY texter (200+ per day).
One small irritation I have discovered is that the keypad buttons have started to crack up & fall apart. I have had the same issue on several other phones so I am led to believe it's the way I use the buttons as it seems no one else has suffered this issue.
As for those who have managed to break one of these. I have dropped mine in the bath 3 times, & dropped it on the floor countless times only marks are 2 small scratches.
On the whole Id highly recommended it.
Camera wise I think it's great albeit a little too slow for action shots (was trying to photograph fish in my fish tank, but a for quick snapshots when you're out & about its great. Though I will say the flip viewfinder (everything is back to front) is a little pointless & annoying when you change it by accident & can't work out how to change it back.
The video recording is great, perfect for MMS or to dump on you tube etc, reception wise it's always been pretty good sound quality is excellent.
I noticed some of you had issues with the memory cards not been read, I had this issue with a cheap one I got off eBay. Put in a different branded one & I never had a problem since.
The PC studio software was a little buggy & unstable but subsequent updates have improved this. I personally prefer to simply blue tooth everything direct & not use it at all.
All in all I will say this is the best phone I have owned to date & I think ill be keeping this one over the upgrade phone I have just ordered

Have had this phone for over a year now, & have been very impressed by its features & size. I am converted now to the slider form factor.
Have not had any problems with the screen, but twice the keyboard has stopped functioning after a day spent out in the cold & wet (my pocket got wet, so the phone circuitry must have gotten some moisture in there). Talk about a powerless feeling: no ability to place calls or retrieve text messages, etc.
The first time the keyboard locked up/ceased functioning for a day or so. The second time for almost a week. Both times it started working again as though nothing happened- presumably after it dried out. I suppose these instances are my fault, but I would recommend you be very careful not to expose the phone to any moisture, however small.
The silver lining is at least I was sure getting some nice battery life out of the phone when I could not make outgoing calls with that dead keyboard.

This phone is very good, it is a good looking phone. It's very easy to connect to the PC via USB. The internal memory is extremely good, 10 songs & a few photos. This phone is extremely easy to use. The vivid text message is a good gimmick but annoying after a while, you can turn it off. The interfaces are very good & you can get around the phone easily. This is a very easy phone to text on, apart from the top buttons, if you have fat fingers. However the only problems are that the phone feels quite flimsy & that it could break at any moment. I would like it if there is a better MP3 player that displayed Artists & Albums, but you have to choose them for a list, annoying if you have a large MP3 player, the sounds is good comparable even to an iPod. Not being able to change the sound for SMS is annoying but you get over it. If you buy the phone on 02 many of the phones settings are disable which is a hindrance. It is sad that there is no 3G, so this means no video calling & the Internet browser is extremely slow. Another problem is that phone is extremely easy to turn off, even if you just hold it down for a second it turns off. The camera is good for 3 megapixels with good effects, however it is grainy. Overall this is a great phone.

I had had this phone for three weeks when it broke however, it was my sister's old contract phone which she had had for a year previously. I loved it until the screen broke & I have been told it will cost 55 pounds to repair & I've decided it will be cheaper to buy a new phone. The memory is quite good being able to hold about 10 songs, a couple of pictures & a video or two without having to use a memory card (which are cheaper if you buy them from Amazon).
I am slightly disappointed to the fact that my phone screen broke when it fell on my bed awkwardly on a coat hanger & was then sat on by my friend.

Me & my partner both got this (D900i) phone yesterday as an early Xmas present (He got the chrome one & I got the pink). We both had the ZV40 before we got a d900i. Anyway, the battery life is poor as I need to charge mine up two or three times a day as the battery lasts no time from when I charge it until it needs another charge. As for features, the menu looks so plain & it lacks on certain functions such as being able to store your own bookmarks when using wap as O2 seem to have made it impossible for anybody to save & overwrite the bookmarks to their site as there is 15 spaces for bookmarks in which, 11 are used up by O2 urls & locked! & they only make 4 spaces available to store your own. In my opinion, this phone is quite difficult to get to grips with. I still like it though, it isn't a patch on my ZV40!

Look after it & you won't get any scratches or cracks. As far as photo's & movies go, it's fabulous. Again, remember, it is a phone not a camcorder. Best quality photo's I've ever had & I've had many phones! Sound on the music player is very good. I can hear it playing on the window sill whilst taking a shower. Plenty loud enough.

I had the phone for less than 48 hours when my screen went black on one side & stripy colours on the other side. I have noticed I am not the only person with this problem, I had a replacement from O2 within 24 hours! Which I thought was brilliant. I have now changed my sim card into a different because on a whole I don't like the D900. I have been using this phone for about 6 months so my d900 has been stored away in its box, well as I am coming up to my upgrade now I have since charged my phone so I can give it to my sister for Christmas & well low & behold the Samsung doesn't even want to turn on! I was looking forward to getting a g600 (I think it's called. The one with 5MP camera) but after reading the reviews I don't think I will bother!

Then, they tired fixing it ten times but couldn't even the manufactures couldn't fix it so I got a brand new one & it lasted 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 1 day, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, 2 hours, 1 hour it can't switch on even with the charger so never buy this phone but now I got a Motorola KRZR K1 it lasts 2WEEKS without being charged life is sweet.
Sorry for my bad English because I am French & I am only eleven by never buy this phone it's a waste of money SAMSUNG PHONES ARE rubbish & now I am having to phone the one I got now for school & the other one for home it's on iPhone life is SICK BROV!

All in all a great mobile bundle, giving you lots of functionality with an added value for design & discreetness.
If you're one of those fashion victims you can't go wrong with the discreet style of the Samsung D900/D900i.
I myself don't care much about looks, so it bugs me the fact that with this phone you can't directly upload files (music, images or whatever) to the MicroSD card (not included in the phone, limited to 2Gigs). Another thing that bugs me is not having the option to choose a personal SMS ringtone, when practically all other Samsung mobiles have that option (even older ones).
The JAVA memory is also limited to 4MB, you can't directly save videos to your memcard, nor can you take pictures directly into the MSD card (at least without having to manually export them there). Shame!
On the good side you have a communications powerhouse (voice sounds crispy & crystal clear on the speaker), built-in voice recording & radio (on the D900i), one of the best agendas & personal organiser I've ever seen on a non-PDA phone &, on top of that & if you can afford the extra memory of the microSD card, a good MP3 player (actually it supports several other media file types, just check the spec list).
I'd give it 8 out of 10. Cheers.

I was totally excited when I got the phone for the first time. I was playing around with for ages, but I have a few reservations. The camera is OK but the subject does have to be very still, I have kids so no chance. My screen only cracked once, & that was when I sat on it (yes I know how?). It got repaired pretty quickly even after I was told it was not covered. Only had to pay £25 pound excess, so compared to others I got off lightly. I am on an 18 month contract with my local O2 shop. They were great, upfront & honest right from day one. So again I was lucky than most on this site & my memory card works, no problems, overall brilliant phone, just ready to upgrade now.

I've had this phone for 18 months now &, unlike many people here, have had no trouble with the screen. It only has one minor scratch which is amazing for the size of it (especially since it has been dropped many times, seems to bounce well! & one eventful night was kicked around the floor of a nightclub for hours) & pretty much looks brand new. Buttons are a good size & really easy to press, especially since I find the new Sony Ericssons a bit hard & painful if you text a lot.
However, the camera, while good in daytime, is useless if you're trying to take pictures in a club or anywhere else dark, terrible flash. Also, the fact that you can't get custom text alert sounds drives me up the wall, since the ones provided are awful, & I just gave up & had it on vibrate in the end. Finally, this could just be me being useless, but I can't seem to save a new number that's text me straight to the phonebook, have to memories it & create a new contact manually, which is a pain.
All in all though this is an awesome phone & if they improved the camera I'd be happy to stay with Samsung in the future (previously a Sony-Ericsson fan).

DON'T BUY THIS PHONE! O2 gave me it as part of my 12 month contract & I had it a grand total of three weeks when the screen cracked in my handbag.
O2 refused to do anything about it, although the sales assistant acknowledged that it was a common fault. Have sent it away for repair & now Samsung it is saying that the problem is not under warranty as I have damaged the phone (even though there is no external damage, the screen is cracked below the surface of the screen! ). So I either have to pay £50 for a repair or £18 to get the useless phone back. I'd like to know how carrying the phone in your handbag is not normal use!
We have informed O2, Samsung & Kuene & Nagel (the repair company) of our problems, neither party is going to do anything about it, I may as well be banging my head against a brick wall! Now I have a 12 month contract & no phone.

I couldn't wait to get this phone, it was by far the best looking phone on the market at the time. I have had it for a year, no problems with the screen & it still looks brand new, However it does have its bad points.
It does not save any sent messages & when you send a message from the contact list the status says that the text is being sent to someone totally different! A little confusing to say the least, I do hope that an upgraded version will be perfect.

Everyone in my class said it was a cool phone. It's slim & little & you don't feel it when you put it in your pocket. I have no problems with the screen because it's protected with a cover. While the phone is really good quality in the video, I felt a bit ripped off with the price I paid for pretty much everything else, the camera while decent in day time was awful in the night, with the worst flash I have ever seen. You can't view a picture you add onto the phone full sized either, which is something else which bothered me, & I feel I bought the wrong phone & should have gone for the k800.

This phone has a lot of good features, for example the camera, it is great quality & easy to use. The phone appearance is attractive & 'sleek' however I found it slightly masculine for me although a lot of my girl friends own it! The phone is very easy to use, the menu options look stylish & are simple for new Samsung users. I was put off buying this phone (last December) due to comments about scratching & the screen breaking - mine has not but I tend to really look after things that cost a lot of money!
I didn't find the memory particularly good, only around 150 texts before you have to delete them, which is a lot I guess but my other Samsung had endless texts really. It's good that you can upload the pictures on to the computer so acts as a mini digital camera of good quality. The battery life is good I would say mine lasts 3 or 4 days. I have had complaints about it sounding 'fuzzy' when I call other people, but have managed to deal with it really. Really liked it just quite common now & manly!

After reading all the other comments I feel impelled to add my own! I can't believe it appears to be a common problem about the screen. Mine has also broken, & once again I have to have it repaired. After eight months the slider stopped working, the next day the screen went blank & then the day after that I couldn't receive calls. Turns out it needed a 'software update'
Now several months later, I had a phone call, all was fine, put the phone down. Maybe it was five minutes later, slid open the phone & the screen was black with these green & coloured lines going down it. How ridiculous that this appears to be a common problem! I always look after my phone, & I can't believe it has broken again, other phones I have owned for five years without problems, but this is ridiculous!
The phone is out of warranty, 13 months, & I am on an 18-month contract. However, it IS possible to wrangle a deal out of Samsung directly. They have agreed to repair it for free, you just have to be stubborn when you kick off a fuss about 13 months being NOT good enough for consumer standards. Their quality expectations must be pretty low etc. Then they give in! But I am never buying Samsung again.

The memory card slot does not keep the card in. Maybe if it had push & click to keep the card in place? It needs more interesting sounds for receiving a text message or receiving a call. Great phone all around except for the battery & screen thing, but cheap screens can be brought over eBay for £20 & it doesn't break that often (had it for just over a year & it only broke once). If battery life is a serious concern you can buy super long life batteries from Amazon for £3.50 that last about five times as long. Would recommend simply for the amazing ability of playing mp4's with minimum hassle, although with a micro SD card it tends to only be possible to put movies on by buying a micro sd to usb reader & putting it straight on from your computer (actually available in Poundland, would you believe.) Camera has great quality as long as you keep it set on fast shot, Internet access is great.

The battery on mine has to be charged every day because if it gets to two bars & you turn it off the battery goes dead straight after you turn it back on again. Although I have had no problems with the reception on mine the screen has broken three times & at £40 each time I get a new screen I could have bought the phone brand new.
Also the D900 is too big & I hate the fact that you can get pictures from the computer but not songs. 3 megapixels I don't think! It's impossible to take a picture unless you can hold it perfectly still for like 10 seconds & the video quality is rubbish!

Terrible phone! Terrible after sales service, bought the d900 in Gibraltar 10 months ago from a very nice Indian man in a pretty little shop in the high street Gibraltar, who could have sold ice to the Eskimos, they the owners were agents for Orange pardon the pun, I rarely use the phone only as a back up to my ever reliable Nokia, however I did notice that its battery life was very limited, but as it was a secondary phone it was not a big issue so I bit my tongue, suddenly last week the LCD screen blacked out with grey lines across the screen for no reason at all, I took the phone back to the friendly phone dealer in Gibraltar, to be told sorry sir! Not covered under warranty, you should have bought the insurance, I reminded him, had he sold me the insurance or even offered it, he could have had commission out of that as well, he wasn't even prepared to contact his supplier Orange or even offer to repair it, even at a cost to me, I reminded him of the consumer rights UK act, & he was still adamant it was not covered under Samsungs warranty which he suddenly decided was only 6 months anyway.& he was also quick to remind me he hadn't stamped the warranty booklet either. I will never buy a Samsung product of any description ever again! After reading all the above reports on cracked or malfunctioning screens & no body putting their hands up at Samsung for a known software problem with this d900 I just had to put pen to paper! Appears anybody is allowed to continue to market sell a product with a known software problem, without even a hint of after sales support from Samsung is absolutely disgraceful, I am going to libel Samsung & the shop owner in Gibraltar, just when he thought he had seen the back of me, as a buyer yes he has.!

I brought this phone due to the tariff I was offered & seemed the best choice as my friends wife has always had Samsungs & keeps going on how good they are & too be fair her old one looked good, I personally am not overly keen on the look of it, think the black version looks cheap with the two different shades of glossy plastic so opted for the more un-marketed 'Wine' colour, I've had mine about 5 months, Sorry 4 as been away over a month for repair with Phones4U! , they said it would take a max of 14 days to repair & gave me a number to phone if not back by then, Three calls later still not her & now trying to charge me for repair, sound familiar if read reviews above! , mine stopped charging off the home charger, although fine off USB lead when down loading & charged via USB still as well. I took it to the Rugby store & got told that it's a known fault, she pointed down the charging socket & said contacts in there will of become loose & hence only charges off USB as a slightly bigger lead/tighter fit, I said so you can confirm it will be covered by warranty, she agreed & sent it away, but as I say they say I've damaged it internally, I said that's impossible, I am the only user of my mobile & have no kids or animals to damage it & my wife knows better! , anyway that's ongoing & I am not willing to part with £50 or even £18 just to get it back to me.
I would never advise purchasing this mobile, I've gone back to my old Sony Ericsson which has a joystick fault making it hard to use & a broken camera, but still better than that D900, the slider also felt very cheap on D900 & the menus aren't very friendly, but most annoying is the fact you can't set you own text tone & can only use pre-set ones, I also agreed camera is rubbish unless you can hold your hand totally still! & yes the volume of music is pretty poor along with the battery needing charging every day!

- When you first turn your phone on it take forever for your phone book to show.
- When I switch to the camera mode it makes a funny noise.
- Sometimes it blocks my calls so I get a message saying I missed a call but I had my phone on next to me the whole time.
- It randomly won't let me make a outgoing phone call when I am in a strong signal area.
- Sometimes the menus are very slow in loading.
- You can't take good pictures with the camera unless you have a really steady hand.

I first bought this phone the battery life was a bit strange meaning as I had to charge it every night then one day I fully charged it then finally the best battery life just popped out brilliantly so the usability is good but I still give it a 70 but design really slim so 95 & features quite good camera alarm really noisy which is good but it surrounds the whole house but still it deserves a rating of 95%.

Major screen problem! Samsung are denying knowledge of the hundreds of phones breaking with no physical impact. A member of staff in the Carphone Warehouse had the same & thinks it's a component overheating during standby & breaking the screen. Mine is a second phone & rarely gets used as the BlackBerry is the workhorse. It's in a case, impossible for it to get crushed & there is not a mark on any part of it, only four months old. It was fine when put on charge as I checked my texts, then I took it off a few hours later & it's broken! Yes I must have taken a hammer to it in my sleep!
Carphone Warehouse repair these for £45 but I will get my money back from 02 or Samsung that's a promise. These should have been recalled & repaired under warranty & they expect us to all payout again, no way! They are just around the corner from me so I will be paying a visit if I don't get anywhere on the phone.

Had the D900 since April/0, I take care of my mobile better than anyone I know, hardly use it. But like many people that have posted reviews I too have suffered with the cracked screen syndrome, when sent back to T-Mobile for repair under warranty I was told that the damage caused to the LCD screen was done by extreme pressure & that I would have to pay £65 to repair the screen. Load of rubbish! I have never sat, dropped or abused the phone in any way so I challenged T-Mobile about this, they were adamant that they could do nothing for me as it was not covered under the warranty agreement. I trawled the Internet & found lots of complaints with regards to the same fault on the D900, some service providers exchanged the phone & accepted that it must be a manufacturers defect, but not T-Mobile. So I then quoted my customer rights within the UK & told them that I would take the case up with Trading Standards. Suddenly they had a change of heart & agreed that I was due to a replacement under warranty. Fancy that! Don't let them bully you into accepting liability, make a stand.

I got my phone on T mobile contract. I have had my phone 4 months without any problems. Went on two weeks holiday & downloaded photos on my return. Immediately afterwards there appeared to be a problem with screen. Took it to the T mobile shop whose assistant was rude I felt & said I had damaged it. I insisted that the phone was fine until after downloading. It has gone off for repair & I have been given a basic phone without camera or similar facilities & informed that I will have to pay should their technical department say the phone has been damaged. When I asked if they had any similar problems with phone they said not. I am adamant that the phone has not been misused & was reassured on using this site & finding that this is indeed a common fault. I feel more able to argue my case should it be suggested that I pay when clearly this appears to be a common problem. I wait in anticipation. I am also aggrieved as to the treatment I felt I received in the T mobile shop whom made me feel as though I was being dishonest. I have to say the manager did his best to back track & smooth things over though still ended up with basic phone & the threat of having to pay.

Further to my input 23/07/07 my d900 with cracked screen (not my fault) has been returned to 02 from their 3rd party repairer quoting 57.00 for repair & it will not be covered by warranty as it is due to impact. I immediately phoned 02 head office telling them that there is not a mark on the phone & it is a fault with the phone, I pointed out the complaints on this website & others & that there is a mass problem with the d900 phone, Nokia have even brought out a repair kit which addresses this screen problem (I.e. There is a design fault, they know it & they have addressed it by altering the screen that comes in the repair kit).
O2 finally gave in credited my account with the 57.00 for the repair, they have not however admitted that there is a problem with the phone.

This really is a phone for people who know how to look after their stuff. True, it is not the most robust of phones (as the other reviews indicate), but should we really expect such a slim stylish phone to be as strong as a tank as well? Those who have experienced the broken screen syndrome have my sympathy, but I think with a little care, e.g. Keeping it in a breast pocket, this phone can last a long time, at least that's been my experience - I've been using one for 7 months without any problems. This is a beautifully designed piece of equipment that warrants being looked after. If you're thinking of purchasing a Samsung D900, ask yourself this question: 'Will I take care of this phone? 'If the answer is 'Yes', then by all means, get yourself one. Otherwise, stick with the Nokias, as recommended by other reviewers. They're not as pretty (the Nokias that is! ) but they'll take a lot more abuse. Generally speaking, when it comes to mobile phones, you can't have your cake & eat it. In most cases, you will have to choose between chic & durability. So if you're thinking of buying the superbly styled D900 (which, incidentally, is packed with most of the features you'll ever need! ) then be warned. Sometimes beauty comes at a price!

I had this one all of 2 weeks & then same thing happened, again O2 sent me a new free one & then this one has a software problem & when I try & use Bluetooth the phone freezes. Just as many others have mentioned, I bought this phone because it looked & felt good. I did however suffer the same problem as many of you, a cracked screen within 9 months of buying the phone. I returned the phone to Car Phone Warehouse. The guys in the store suggested that the phones had been exposed to excessive pressure, in other words dropped. I was absolutely adamant however that the phone had not been dropped & pointed out that there was no external damage or marks on the handset to support this theory. I also pointed out that the cracked screen problem is a common complaint & most likely therefore a fault with one or more of the phones components. Phone was repaired under warranty.
If comes to it quote the Sales of Good act - not fit for purpose. A mobile phone should be robust enough to be mobile, not surprisingly!
Last comment, the cracked screen problem is a shame really because otherwise the D900 is a good phone. The camera lens needs improving though, no point having 3 mega pixels if the picture is often blurred.

I've taken it back to 02 who are sending it back to their workshops for a decision as to whether it's my fault or the phones.
The guy in the 02 shop pointing out he too has a d900 & he has not had a problem with his (must be my fault then).
I believe the problem with the d900 is that it slides open in your pocket & then when you bend over, hey presto, broken screen.

I never bothered getting a memory card, & the storage capacity is rubbish without it. Camera is OK, but the phone or subject needs to be completely still in order to get a decent image. Anyway, I really got attached to the D900. Until it broke yesterday: screen cracked, internally not externally, whilst in my pocket. Fortunately my insurance is swapping out a replacement front shell today; so hopefully D900 #2 will enjoy a long & happy existence. I have had this phone for about 10 months now & I can't really fault the design. The slider mechanism is smooth & the screen is still bright & has not cracked yet either. All the features are fine for a phone. I have a quality digital camera for my photos & an ipod for my music & I use these devices far more, but the camera & music quality are adequate for a phone (neither are professional quality, but what can you expect?). The games were a little disappointing though because most of the games that you get are just demos & the full length games that you do have a poor so if you are fan of games that might be annoying.
The two major faults that I have with this phone though are battery life & signal. The battery was fine at first & I have always been careful to fully run down the battery before charging & only charge it as long as needed. Now, however, my battery depletes rapidly. It can last on 3 bars for about a day or so (with minimal usage) but as soon as it reaches 2 bars it will last about half an hour & then the phone will turn itself off & won't turn on again until I charge it. This is very annoying.
The other problem which I have had since I got the phone is signal. It is absolutely appalling. If I am on an incoming or outgoing call then I will have to position myself in exactly the right place & not move an inch or the signal will go & I won't be able to hear anything. It is getting to the stage now where I just don't bother using my mobile & am about to upgrade to something else. I firstly thought that it was just the network that I am on, however when I put my Vodafone sim card into a friends phone the reception is fine. This is terrible & totally pointless having a phone you can't call people.
I think I will probably going over to Sony Ericsson after this as these phones are much more resilient but less attractive. From now on I am going to go for substance over style I think.

Had mine for three months, never dropped it but the screen spidered from the left bottom. Samsung S.Afr would hear nothing & related it to abnormal pressure. I researched the problem on the net & found it to be a common problem with hundreds of forums threading this. I personally think that close-sliding the phone sometimes causes a shock which shatters the LCD (thin glass) on some of these phones & unfortunately phone's in the bin & I am back to Nokia despite the ratings given above. Nb this is a rather expensive LCD. Wouldn't hesitate to invest in one again if, Samsung acknowledges this design fault & sorts it out.

I have recently got this phone & I absolutely love it! There are quite a few negative reviews of this phone so I was a bit worried but it's great!
It looks great & is super slim.
With a 1MB microSD card it can hold loads of photos, videos & music.
There are a few cute little games.
The music player is great & you can have music playing while doing other things on the phone.
The camera is excellent & you can take all sorts of photos, with mosaic shots & frames with clip arts. There is a slight delay when you take the photo but to be honest I have hardly noticed it, although you do have to be careful not to move it after the photo is taken.
Also, although it may look very flimsy its fine for generally being in your pocket, you don't have to be TOO careful although I have had mine in a 'phone sock' to look after it a little.
Battery life has been fine, although it goes down more while listening to music.
Despite what other reviews say I have been able to set mp3s as ringtones.
I absolutely love this phone & recommend it fully.

After always having Nokia phones & not seeing any that I liked, I signed up for the Samsung D900's. However I have received 4 phones in the last 4 months due to numerous problems, ranging from been unable to turn the phone on after charging (phone symbols flash), settings on the phone being incompatible with the O2 network.
Finally after using a car charger on number 4, the charging pins have been damaged, which the engineer states I have done, which I totally disagree with, have refused to pay the £87 fee & the helpful people at O2 are sending me a Nokia on Monday.
Would seriously NOT advise anyone to get one of these phones, looks great, but it is no use having a phone if it is constantly been repaired/replaced.

What a sleek design. What a waste.
I found this phone very good - but after 3 weeks I realised what I was missing out on.
You cannot use Java Apps on this phone. How very annoying.
The MP3 Player is limited to creating just 4 playlists with 30 songs on each. Don't even think about trying to put more than 120 songs on the MP3 player - trust me - I tried, but guess what? Didn't work.
MMS is awkward to use & I had to download configuration software from Samsung to get it to work - I shouldn't have to do that.
Message tones are extremely limited - you can use either 10 of the preset tones on the phone, or. Wait. No that's it. 10 default tones for your messages. Great.
The camera was disappointing - Samsung boast its generous 3.13 Megapixel quality, but I can't see 3.13 megapixels on my D900. You'd be lucky if you got 2. The video quality is also extremely poor.
A couple of good points though: You can view .PDFs & Microsoft Word Documents - liked that! (Why) (Thumbs up) I love the design of it & the feel. What a shame, to be let down with such a clunky, almost 'empty' phone.

First of all I would like to say, these poor reviews have very little bearing on the phone itself. Its durability is perfectly fine, in fact I have dropped this phone so many times now, & it is yet to get scratched or broken. These people are clearly just not gown up enough to own phones since they break them.
Style wise, its not that hot, but its compact, thin, slightly taller than some phones but then again some phones can be way too small, the ones that need ballerina fingers to hold are awful, much better to have a phone you can comfortably hold.
The menu system is top notch, it takes seconds to learn the basics, & after about an hour playing with the settings I had my phone configured to perfection, so much so I did it once & have not had to alter it in the slightest in 4 months of owning it.
The camera quality is very good for its cost, 3.15 mega pixels, most phones tend to be around 2 mega pixels & to go any high-resolution.
The Internet isn't very good, but I have always thought Internet on your phone is a bit of a gimmick anyway, you may as well just stick to your PC & use your broadband connection. If you ever need to know train times, or bus times, there is usually a number you can call, like 118 118, or a directory number you know, they can be expensive but you at least usually get to speak to a real person which is far better than searching Google on WAP.
All in all this is a perfectly good, grown up phone. The features it offers are perfectly good, & better than most phones on the market, it hasn't got any truly spectacular features, don't expect a 6 meg pixel camera, or 15X optical zoom, but otherwise this phone should keep most people happy for a year if not longer.

I've had this phone for 6 months now & I am so bored of it. It is one of the worst phones I have ever had, the reason I choose it was because of its 'so called' 3.15 megapixel camera with auto focus. Its a joke. Really I am not lying one slight movement & the picture is completely blurred you get better results with a VGA camera. The design is quite attractive but it gets quite flimsy after a little while & feels it may fall off. Another annoying feature of it is the memory card slot not only can you have only up to a 512MB card but, you can not save directly onto the card for EG: if you run out of phone memory you have to move data over to the memory card to use the camera. My last point is the speaker it is very quiet & I fount it work better once I dropped it & it broke as you could decently hear the music. I really would not recommend buying the phone if you want it for the camera, MP3 player or the look as they are all useless.

I have found the camera to be more than adequate for my needs & as I have problems with smaller keypads this one is fine. I think the features on the phone are pretty good, but the menus are way too complicated &/or limited depending on what you're looking at. I am fairly happy with the phone, but I tend to keep phones in my back pocket & worry about breaking it when I sit down as I have heard the screens are flimsy & prone to cracking for no apparent reason, but I feel the features of the SPV were far better & a lot easier to use. Looks wise it wins hands down, but it will be going at upgrade time.

This phone has been selected as the best phone in 2007.I am really not sure whether it deserves it. My principal complaint is the slider mechanism. It is quite firm & requires some force to open. At the same time, there isn't a good anchoring for your thumb at the base to apply that force. I can fully understand how thumbs can slide & damage, even break the screen. In comparison, sliding mechanism on Samsung's E370 is wonderful & opens quite easily. Well, you can rationalize that D900 has less chance to open in your pocket, but still.
Other things one can learn to live with. It could have been a wee bit narrower (like E250). There is no radio, which would have made it really complete. Popping submenus can be annoying at first. The rest is fine for me.

- Incredibly slow processing time when doing the simplest tasks such as reading an SMS
- The screen hangs for 3-5 seconds every single time
- One bug that many others have found is that the phone occasionally mixes up names & numbers, particularly in the SMS function (i.e. you could easily send an SMS to the wrong person!)
- Horrible menus (especially the automatic pop-up of sub-menus) with seriously ugly (& very basic, like c 1995) colour scheme
- Last point made even worse by almost zero customisability
- Speakerphone hidden 2 menus deeper than it should be
In summary, great hardware, ridiculous software.
I will be going back to Sony Ericsson as soon as I possibly can!

Best phone I ever had. Has great features, it can take easily up to 2Gb micro SD, good sound quality, image quality is amazing. It has all that a good phone needs. This phone only lacks on battery life (about 24h if you listen to music & watch videos, these features consume too much battery) & it's a bit slow when viewing images stored on the memory card. About the camera, it's very good & makes really nice photos & videos, the only thing is that if there's not enough light the image quality decreases dramatically.

I got this mobile phone (mobile) & I have been using it for about 3 weeks now. The features are good & the phone looks fab. I have also noticed that if you use the MP3 player, the battery tends to run for the hills & it gets annoying having to recharge it all the time. So far I consider it the best phone I have had, but my opinion might change in about 3 months. I have had LG, Motorola, Siemens, Nokia & Samsung phones, & to date the Samsung phones have been far better than the other phones, although the Motorola L7 SLVR comes darn close at beating this phone. (L7 is my 3rd best phone, 2nd is the D500 & for now the D900 ultra is the best). I intend on trying out the Sony Ericsson phones too sometime this year & get a better feel for which phone is best. Despite the fact the company that I brought the phone from lied through there teeth when they sold me this, it's not all that bad.
In terms of functionality, the interface is reasonably simple & easy to use, the keys are a good size & well spaced & the screen resolution is excellent as is the camera (provided the light is good).
As far as gripes go;
- the camera is poor in low light
- the Internet is painfully slow & a lot of web pages don't display correctly.
- whilst you can change the ringtone, you cannot change the SMS tone to anything other than one of a limited number of defaults. The volume is also quite poor.
- the battery life lasts about 48 hours on average.
It will do for now, but will be replaced when my contract expires.

For 10 years or so I always bought Nokia phones & had good service from them. That is until I bought an N70, big mistake. In the space of 4 months I had 3 different handsets all had varying faults. I must say that Orange was fantastic & the Orange care service excellent. Can't praise Orange enough, good service & nice people. Anyway I told the Orange staff that I didn't want another N70 & could they advise me on another make of phone, I had lost faith in Nokia. They said Samsung are making really good phones & in fact three of the four staff had Samsung phones. I had never really thought about Samsung. Anyway I bought a D900. Fantastic phone. I am now truly hooked on Samsung & when I upgrade again it will be a Samsung. I am a happy chappy now, very satisfied with my phone & more than happy with Orange. I travel around the world & always get a good reception from the Orange roaming partners. Moved to Orange three years ago because of some trouble I had with O2.

As I am young I do not have that much experience with mobile phones, however, since my first phone I have had a lot of phones.
I got this phone as a Christmas present in 2006, I loved my phone & took the up most care of it, it was the best phone I ever had.
When I first started using this phone it had very good battery life, very good & quick camera, but this seems to have deteriorated over the past 6 or so months, the camera is now very slow & does not work in the dark even with the flash on. The battery now has to be charged more often & the camera drains the battery very quickly.
But yesterday my phone was in my jeans pocket, then when I came to use it I took it out of my pocket, when the inside screen (LED screen?) had green lines over it, then just cracked in the bottom left corner in a circle formation.
I have been on here & on several reviews & it seems this is a regular problem, I am going to take the phone to be seen to tomorrow to see what they say.
Many people have said that they have been told that they must have dropped it, I on the other hand have not. I'll keep you posted.
Although any other time I would have recommended this phone, I now would not.

I have used the phone for 2 months. My phone comes with Bluetooth & a 1GB micro SD card installed.
First the Strength - the phone is definitely. The phone doubles up as an MP3 player & is good for the time when you would like music on the go.
Now the area of improvements - the 3MP camera is only good for still images & in bright environment. The shutter speed is too slow to take images that tend to move or shift. Another issue that may bug you is that the text message does not get saved automatically when you send a message. The * & # key is tricky to access as it is block partially by the housing (if you text using your thumb.)With the huge LCD screen & the slim form factor, don't expect much of battery life. You will need to use the USB charger if you do work from your PC regularly or to charge it daily before you start your day.
Finally - An area that fails miserably. While Samsung claims that the mobile phone is able to synchronize with your Outlook calendar, this claim is totally false. When you sync your appointments to your mobile phone, appointments that are reoccurring in nature in Outlook is left out. Also, the D900 places all appointments into a category it calls Miscellany which omits the location which is so critical for appointments & be careful when you sync the calendar, it wipe out my entire Outlook calendar!
As a whole, this is a sleek phone if you are looking for a trendy phone. No doubt it will be an eye catcher.

I bought this phone in December 2006. Thought it would be a good buy! How wrong was I. It is a nice phone, but not much good when the screen is cracked through no fault of mine. I rang Phones 4 you who I bought it off & they fobbed me off! They have had that many problems with this phone that they now tell us we have to ring Samsung & they will deal with it. Yes they do deal with it. It costs you a fiver to send it for repair. The repair is not covered under their warranty so that means £70 to pay. If you don't want it repaired at this cost & you want it back it costs you another £17 to get back!

I don't have this phone. I've just spent the last hour reading these reviews, after coming back from town decided on a D900. Now I am not so sure!
Battery life seems a big problem, & the delay on the camera. But the biggest issue seems to be the screen: sounds like LOTS of people have screens fail without them being abused at all. & then after repair they keep having the problem. There's mention of rapid temperature changes being a cause of screen cracking. There one mention of a firmware upgrade being available. & yet other people have had no screen problems.
So that makes me wonder if the design flaw is not with the screen itself, but with the electronics of the phone: some go screwy & overheat & crack one screen after another, whilst others are fine & never see a screen problem.
Its one thing to run the risk of having to go ask for a refund, but if there's a chance that the seller & manufacturer will (try to) dodge all responsibility then I am simply not going to take that risk.
I was hoping these problems would die out (I.e. Samsung addressed the issue) as I moved up through the most recent reviews, but there doesn't be any tailing off. Think I'll call in to CPW & try putting them on the spot about it, see what they say.
Maybe I'll take a look at the D840 again. Or else just stick with my Choc (which for all its quirks & minor annoyances still works fine after one year & one drop onto a pavement!).

The good news is that I am with Virgin Mobile & they agreed to replace my phone within minutes with a new U600 for no extra cost with 7 months of my contract remaining & no insurance.
Have to say though that although the features are good & I had no quibbles with the actual running, it doesn't have the same strength & durability or at least the feeling of this as all my previous phones. Basically this phone is only good for 3-6. Which is actually quite useless especially the 18 month contracts which companies are trying to enforce upon us.

I was really looking forward to upgrading from the D500. There are two things that irked me:
1) The keypad tones - cured by changing the dialing page from theme to normal it is as simple as that.
2) Speed Dial, neither Samsung or O2 would do anything, accept to say that Samsung say that O2 have locked their numbers into the speed dial, O2 say it is a Samsung fault. If it was Samsung why did the D500 allow me to do it, if it was O2 why did the D500 allow me to do it? I have tried deleting the numbers but the phone won't let me. In Samsungs favour they say that speed dial works on non O2 D900's.
Seems only one solution, bye bye O2.

I was worried about getting the phone, with all the bad reviews, but nothings wrong, the pictures names DO CHANGE unlike what I read on some other review & MY SCREEEN HAS NOT BROKEN!
If you charge it for a good 12 hours then, run it completely down, & repeat, the battery life is great!
The downside:
the demos instead of games & how long it takes to scroll through the pictures, but I used a USB card reader/writer thing & put my 2GB card in (some people say you can't put in more than 1GB) & found it on my computer then put all my photos in files with the date & stuff, this is also what you do with music.

I've had my phone for just over a week now & have found very few faults with it. The main issue is that the tone for messaging can't be changed, but it's bearable. My screen's been fine as well, just be aware that it is a thin phone & you have to be careful with it. You can change the settings for the volume so that it is louder, the code is on this page if you scroll down. I've never had a Samsung before, but I am impressed, this phone not only looks good, but is easy to use as well. Once you get used to it, it's easy to use. For people asking how to change predictive text & other minor things, read the manual, it's there for a reason. No phone comes personalised, you have to play around with it for a bit before its how you want it. The camera is good, but you do have to wait for a few seconds before you move, because it will blur. There are no problems with the video recording, so I don't know why people are complaining about that. There is plenty of memory on the phone, but if you want more then buy a memory card, if you fill that up, just transfer the pictures, videos or whatever to your computer, which is easy to do once you have installed the software, it's quick as well. The only thing which I will complain about is the sound quality when people call me or I call them, the reception isn't all that great, but once you get good reception the sound is clear, just make sure you remove the plastic covering, or take it off & put it back in a different position. I'd recommend this phone to anyone who loves their phone & doesn't throw it around, great phone.

Well, as with some of those below, I too opted for the Samsung D900 as an upgrade on a renewed contract. After having a string of Samsung phones, I knew that the user interface was friendly & generally quite good.
After only 4 weeks of having the phone a pressure crack appeared behind the screen rendering it useless! After contacting 02 & then Samsung, neither would replace the phone, even though it is obviously flawed - Shocking! Good luck to anybody doing anything more physically demanding than sitting on your backside in an office most of the day.
I am now faced with either paying £60 for a replacement phone in an 18 month contract that I didn't really need or paying the contract & getting nothing for it.
Their tests, when they ship them off are mistaken & seem to serve only to victimise the customer by placing some statement that is meant to make the customer feel powerless - do they even look at how much the phones can take before breaking, & whether this fits in with standard use!?

I absolutely love this phone! I have found it extremely easy to use & customise. The only complaints I have are firstly, that the message alert tones are rubbish, & you can't use your own. & secondly, when viewing images saved to the Memory Card the phone is very slow at scrolling through & opening them!
Having read other people's reviews I can see some valid points. The camera can be temperamental, but I don't use it very often.
My screen is still intact, & I've had the phone since February. I keep it in my back pocket, & have sat on it frequently & have had no resulting problems.
I did use a plastic clip on case for a short time, but found that it moved every time I slid the phone open, & the case rubbed the very top of the phone as result, & left marks.
Overall, I love this phone, & would definitely get another Samsung in future!

Be careful when you buy this phone. Features are OK, it is easy to use. Biggest problem is the build quality. I've had it for 2 months, took it out of my pocket & discovered the LCD was smashed. I've since discovered this is a common fault. Samsung refuse to admit there is a problem with their product & expect me to pay £70+ to fix it & give no guarantee that it won't happen again. VERY POOR BEWARE!

I've had this phone for a few months now & I find it really user friendly & it takes fantastic photos. As with most Samsungs, it has quite a big memory on it to store music, images & videos. The only downside I can think of is the battery life, I usually have to charge it every night which is a pain, but overall this phone is recommended.

Right, it looks great &, unlike so many others, I have had no problem with the screen so far. BUT, & it's a big one, there are too many other problems with the phone to make it worth your while.
As far as MP3 goes, you can create 4 playlists with 30 songs each. That doesn't even last me a week, traveling on the tube I need more. The phone can take more songs on a memory card but you have to change your playlist just too often.
The camera, though 3 MP, is bad. Only in really bright conditions does it manage to take pictures that are not totally out of focus. & it is slow & taking pictures simply drains the battery.
Battery life is below average, I am not going to give you days but it is well below any Nokia I have ever used. Probably due to it being so thin the battery is just too small. Then there is the small issue of using the software to sync it with your PC. Don't even try. It deleted most of the information I had on my contacts in Outlook & even though the software offers it as an option, you can only sync both ways, not one way only. The software also does not allow you to work on some of the contact settings, such as caller groups, so this has to be done on the phone & finally texting. Why do special characters have to be divided into groups, selected with a number key & then confirmed with another one? Way to complicated.
Get this phone if you're after style with little substance but stay well away if you need any kind of functionality.

With normal use the screen a less than six months old has cracked Samsungs reply user damage. Their repair agents sent a quote £70 to repair. They have had a lot of d900's with cracked screens. I got my phone is January & it has been great so far. The camera is good however the flash is awful. When you need to take a picture in the dark the flash hardly helps. The camera in the other hand is great, the pictures are of a very good quality. I have read that the screen seems to crack easily however mine has been fine. The phone its self also seems to be sturdy, I have dropped it quite a few times & it's not even scratched. The battery life I find is very good. I can use if for up to 6 days before I need to charge it again & its usually fully charged in 4hours at the most. The games provided with it are not the best & as previously mentioned, the only decent ones (sonic & Tetris) are only demos & the full game cost nearly £5 which is a lot. The MP3 is great however I don't tend to use it as it takes up too much memory. The phone has lots of memory & I find this very useful. Other than the flash being rubbish, the only other problem I have is with the Internet however I do believe that this is NOT a fault of the phone but a fault on my behalf. All in all this phone is great. I would definitely recommend buying it!

The screens been OK so far no cracks or its thin but hey I haven't been nursing it an had mine for a month with no probs I really can't fault this phone much it looks good an serves its purpose the menus are fast with no lag & visually clear! The reason I got the phone was it looked way better than the Sony Ericsson K800i, but I knew features would suffer due to that fact, Camera is poor, & battery even worse, but it does look very slick, esp. When it was uncommon. BUT I'd go for a KE800i if I had a choice between the 2.
Also the screen problems people have been happening could be due to a batch of poor screens, 5/6 of my friends have the phone & are happy with it, (apart from battery life). People should really read more reviews, & even if the camera were great & battery life good, I'd NEVER pay £300 for a 6month old phone! LOL

I got this phone from virgin on pay as you go for Christmas & was undecided to ask for this or an Ericsson & decided on the d900 because of its looks & features advertised. I made the wrong choice!
To all those who say if you don't like the camera or the MP3 go out & buy a digital camera or an MP3 player, I say for £300 I want something that actually works & I could use & expected more!
The camera for 3.2 megapixels is nothing short of pathetic & just impossible to use. Any slight movement & the picture comes out blurred because of the massive delay in you pressing take photo & the photo actually being taken (can anyone suggest anything to stop this?) the camera takes very good pictures if the object is still though. I wanted to take this phone on holiday with me instead of having to bring a digital camera too & would have been quite happy at 3.2 megapixel photos but now that's out of the question.
The MP3 player is OK but the speaker volume could be higher.
Also for £300 spent I expected to be able to put any memory card I wanted in it (many phones support 2 gig cards) & not be limited to a 1 gig.
The games on it are rubbish & the 2 decent games like sonic are only demos, you have to pay to get the full versions.
I've read all the write ups about the screen so up to now, the 10th April, from Christmas I have spent a fortune on at least 6 or 7 clear hard plastic cases but because of the phone's design, the cases can have only the smallest of 'lips' to hold it onto the phone & due to sliding the phone up these lips soon crack & the cases have to be replaced.
For the money I paid I am very very disappointed in this phone.

Nice to look at but terribly fragile. Screen cracked inside 5 days after purchase rendering the phone useless. It has happened to hundreds if not thousands of people. Retailers charge a large fee to fix the screens & Samsung refuse to do anything about it.
When the screen was still working, however, I found the menu wasn't the simplest to navigate, the camera was extremely slow at capturing images & it rings very quiet, even on the highest volume setting.
The only thing that really impressed me about this phone was the many camera effects, frames, & settings, but what use are they when within a month your screen will be shattered & you won't even be able to see what you're doing with it?
Steer clear of this one, or keep it wrapped up in cotton wool at all times. (But not too tightly).

I can't quite understand reviews praising the camera on this phone. Supposedly 3MP but I have given up on trying to take any photos with this phone. Firstly there is about a 2 second delay between pressing to take & the photo being taken & if the person or object moves slightly just before being taken the picture comes out early. Even when successfully taking a photo the quality is not much to write home about & this goes for videos too. I had a Samsung e800 to phones previously which took a lot better pictures.
The rest of the phone however works very well & looks stylish with my only other problems being that apostrophise are not easy to put into texts & you cannot set to save sent messages which can be helpful after a night out.
Overall this could've been a top notch phone if the camera was not so primitive compared to rivals.

I don't normally post on these things but I wanted to warn people about buying this phone. Yes it looks nice but I had a D400 years ago & it's basically the same operating system. The battery life is really poor, I have to charge mine every day. It has about half the life of my old Sony Ericsson. The memory is rubbish. You can get a memory card but. Looking through pictures on that is ridiculous! You press down & about 10 seconds later it will move down. So how are you supposed to look through about 50 pictures? Oh & its not my memory card because I have a San Disk one, they are the best you can get really. The thing that annoys me most though is the camera. One of the reasons I bought it was because it has a 3 MP camera. Go to take a picture of your mates in the pub, you press the button to take the pic, by the time it takes it they have sat back down & finished their pints! Oh & it still comes out blurred! Whenever you take a pic if someone so much as sways in the wind it will come out blurred. & you have to hold it still for so long! Also the pictures come out really dull looking. You can play around with the settings & get it right, or you could get a Sony Ericsson which does it automatically. In fact my friends 2 MP Sony Ericssons put mine to shame! Oh & the earphones you have to use with it hurt my ears! With a Sony Ericsson you can attach any headphones. Don't buy it!

Having owned Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Philips, Sagem, etc etc phones I can honestly say that the D900 is the best. I have had mine for 6 months & it has lived an active life. It is unmarked & the sound from the speaker, although muted when new, has improved with use.
The camera is not the easiest to use due to the options available but is good as just a point & shoot backup.
The worst part of the phone is the manual. It doesn't include some of the features which I found by chance, for instance, Press 1 when playing a video to get 'full screen' mode. I will definitely purchase another Samsung.

The screen anchorage is flimsy, having only 0.5mm protection, as opposed to the D600, which has 3mm.

Nice looking phone. BUT:
I am on my 3rd handset in 4 months, screens just crack for no reason, the first 2 phones had a glass screen cover, & were impossible to scratch. This was excellent! The latest has plastic, I had it about a week before it was covered with scratches. Very disappointing. Camera is good if you have a tripod! Shutter delay means blurry pics as you move phone before picture processed.
THIS PHONE WILL NOT SYNC WITH OUTLOOK PROPERLY.
I have tried all 3 phone on different computers also, when you sync, only random info will sync, maybe 40% of contacts, appointments will transfer. It WILL MESS UP YOUR OUTLOOK. Duplicate appointment entries & many duplicate contacts will be created both on PC & phone. A real pain to delete especially if you have a lot of contacts.
Other than that, as a fun fashion phone, the rest is OK. Oh texting difficult at first but easier with practice.

I was expecting a lot from all the reviews for the mobile, & it lived up to expectation in no way whatsoever. The camera was awful compared to the 2MP Sony camera that I upgraded from. In fact I would go so far as to say that the camera was a complete waste of time - all of my holiday photos were rubbish & I feel cheated. It is more like a VGA camera. & yes, I had it set up correctly with the maximum clarity & MP.
The text message capability was fiddly & when I made a mistake it was more than easy to erase the whole text in my attempts to correct it. The phone also opened every time I put it into my jeans pocket randomly calling people in my phonebook. If it did stay closed then it would open when I pulled it out of my pocket & on a couple of occasions answered my call, & then hung up on them. Annoying!
Size wise it was great, & I thought it looked quite good. However it did look old & dated very quickly. For some people this phone will be great, but compared to the offerings of Sony & Nokia, this D900 is absolutely diabolical.

I have just made my third claim for a cracked screen with my mobile insurance policy for my Samsung & have requested a completely different phone to replace it. I would advise anyone to look at other phones rather than this one, unless the looks of the phone are that important to you. It looks great & it's nice & slim, but the build quality isn't up to scratch. I haven't thrown my phone around or dropped it, the screen has cracked both times from what must be the slightest pressure.
Apart from the flimsy screen the phone is quite stylish, the look & feel is good. The texting/menu system of Samsung mobiles has always been below Nokia/Sony phones in my opinion & this phone is no different. As already pointed out by others, don't buy this if you want a decent camera phone. The camera takes ages to actually take a picture & unless you are doing scenery or tortoise shots, you'll get a blurred image. The standard choice of ring tones, message tones is fairly poor & I wouldn't buy this phone if you want a decent MP3 player/Walkman replacement.

Got the phone because I was under huge pressure from Carphone Warehouse to upgrade before they lost their Vodafone contract business; always had Nokias before but nothing appealed at the time. I use the D900 when I want a slim light phone for calls only (i.e. great when going out) but not for anything else. Text messaging is practically impossible; calendar does not sync properly with Outlook (no-one mentions that in the reviews do they!?) & shutter lag means more blurred snaps than clear ones! Fortunately have still got previous Nokias, & am just about to buy a 6300 (D900 has me so hacked off I will quite happily buy a replacement without waiting for upgrade.)
Quick comments for other reviewers - the volume keys on the left control the camera rotation when in photo mode; press & hold # key to activate/deactivate silent mode; the fact that its 1mm (! ) thinner than a RAZR does not make it any better.
Shame to see such a potentially good phone get such consistently bad reviews from users. Even more puzzling that it still gets consistently good reviews in magazines (saw it at No 3 in buyer's guide of mobiles last week). I got mine on the strength of a review; but will trust my experience in future - would not get another Samsung after this.

I totally agree the battery life is absolutely appalling. With my two previous D900's after charging the battery would be dead within 4 hours & I hadn't even used the phone!
My 3rd handset keeps switching itself off randomly for no reason & takes a couple of minutes before it'll let you switch itself back on. It's been sent away again & apparently they couldn't find anything wrong it, but it still does it, so explain that one.
I absolutely love the phone & its features (only exception would be the slow camera! Image comes out blurred because it takes so long to capture the image it's moved! )
I would love the phone more if it wouldn't keep going wrong, I actually feel like the courtesy phone is MY phone because I've had it so often.

The big problem with this phone is the firmware. I got a Samsung D900 in early February & subsequently bought a 2GB microSD card. It doesn't accept it! I contacted Samsung & they said that the firmware on my phone limits the size of the microSD card to 512mMB in my phone. They said they do not issue firmware updates & basically I was told 'tough luck mate'. So now I have a 2GB microSD card to fit a phone that is not 'Fit for Purpose'. There was no mention of this limitation in the phones documentation or on the Samsung's website before I bought the phone.

When I first put in an online order for the new D900 I was dead exited, I received the phone the next day, & to my expectation it was Slick, so I quickly opened it & turned it on, it has all the great Samsung Features such as a MP3 player & Bluetooth, & it even comes with some great games. My favourite is Sonic. The D900 is very slim, & it has a very large screen (better to watch your favourite videos) & it is appealing :)
What I like about the D900
The D900 features an excellent 3.0 megaPixal Camera, the images are top quality, & the camera makes maximum use of the surrounding light. The sound quality is alright as well.
The great thing about the d900 has to be the background, it's like a screen saver it has a picture of the Big Ben in London, the great thing about it is that when it goes dark outside it goes dark in the phone, some how it is programmed to change. I think it is awesome feature.
When I first tested the music player on the phone it sounded lower than my alarm clock watch : ) & then I read on a forum that you have to remove the protective screen cover in order to hear the sound, I though this was rubbish because now the screen is exposed to scratches.
Overall I would recommend the D900, it is a slick looking phone with a great quality camera. The D900 is in my opinion the best phone currently going.
The SCREAN WILL ONLY BREAK IF YOU HIT IT HARD. So don't LOL :-)

Samsung's new Ultra range is a bit like Carol Vordermann, slim, but still full of brains. They reckon they've scooped most of the mobile phone accolades out there (skinniest candy bar title, the slimmest HSDPA phone) but haven't skimped on the specs. The D900 was the first of these to be launched, featuring a sliding design & measuring just 12.9mm in width. & yes, it's the world's slimmest slider phone.
It's seldom now that you can pick up a phone that does something that's truly new or unique to the brand. Cameras, MP3 players & email are all present in the vast majority of phones, to one degree or another. Any company that attempts to create something new risks straying over into the gimmicky territory occupied by novelty ringtones & crazy photo effects. So, with that in mind, I give you the Samsung theme screen. & then you can tell me what you think (I am having trouble forming opinions this morning).

Hi, just got this phone a few weeks ago on Orange, all great so far, apart from the main screen on previous Samsung phones there wasn't a constant menu on the wallpaper page. On this Orange phone, on the left of my screen I constantly have a mini menu. Does anyone else have this phone on Orange, & also has this menu on the left? Really want to get rid of it, but don't know how. Past Samsung phones haven't had this menu. Preferred my old phone which when you had a new message it came up at bottom of screen with 'New Message' & who it was from. Please help if anyone knows how to get rid of this menu!
Also, one other issue. Is there any way of having the clock showing the time permanently when the phone is shut? Instead of just the black background, can I have the time showing? Not great with phones as you can tell.
Thanks for any help you can give!

Great phone, very thin & discrete even the camera is good when it is set up properly. Battery life is not great but what do you expect from such a small phone.
However I am unable to format a 2 GB memory card within the phone, does anyone know how to do this?

Good points:
* Slim phone with nice big screen for browsing the Internet & games.
* It does vibrate & ring at the same time.
Bad points:
* Battery life is appalling, from new & a full charge it was down to 1 bar by day 2 after no phone calls & an about an hour of WAP use.
* Menu system is in Day-Glo colours.
* Huge font size for menus & entering phone numbers that you can't change.
* Only horrible video game style built-in ring tones, nothing normal that just goes 'ring ring'.
* Can't change incoming text alert from above said tones.
* Can't change the alarm ring volume unless you change your incoming call volume (it's one in the same).
* If you want your text message font to be small then you need to set this every time you write a text as it's not saved.
Generally a good looking & small phone ruined by Samsung's appalling backward operating system which looks like it's designed for teenagers. What use is a nice big screen when everything displayed is 3 times the size of that on other phones? Mine's gone back after the second day.

I upgraded to the D900 in December from another Samsung phone & to be honest, I am a little disappointed. It looks wonderful- stylish & different to others on the market, & the functions are pretty good- easy to use & navigate around. What disappointed me was that while a 3.2 mega pixel camera is great in theory, it is so slow to capture that you cannot take pictures without it coming out blurred. I have a 7 mega pixel digital camera, so am not too bothered, but for those 'need to take a picture now' moments, the camera is rubbish! DON'T FALL FOR the MARKETING HYPE! If anyone knows how to get round this, please let me know! (My sister in law has the E900 & has the same problem. )
I found the battery life was OK- if you leave Bluetooth on, it drains the battery, so I got into the habit of disconnecting Bluetooth once I got out of my car, but now it has stopped charging completely. Strange thing is that it charged OK using my car charger, but wouldn't work with the AC adapter. Took it back to T Mobile, & they gave me another charger. Still doesn't work. Now back with T Mobile for them to fix it. Hoping they can fix it or get a replacement.
My previous Samsung was brilliant- it just didn't have Bluetooth which I really needed & after being a Nokia owner for years, I was glad I made the switch to Samsung. Not sure I'll keep this phone when my contract is up later this year. Shame.

This phone is absolutely amazing. It looks great the camera takes really high quality shots & the screen quality is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen. It's not just the main points that are amazing, it's all the other little things that Samsung have thrown in to make this phone truly amazing. For example the mosaic shot mode in the camera, the converter that converts anything from currency to area. Even the calculator can cope with sine, cos & tan calculations. INCREDIBLE. This is one of the best purchases you can make in phone terms.
In answer to Darren's questions:
1. Yes you can have MP3/AAC files as your ringtone.
2. I am guessing that you mean speaker phone when calling. If it is then yes it does have it.
3. Yes you can have a personal picture as a wallpaper
See this phone is amazing. You should be ashamed if you by anything else for more & it has the same spec! E.g. K800i, N93, Moto RAZR
That's it rant over now go out & make Samsung proud!

This phone is bad. It really is. It's all style over substance.
I have recently got one having had Sony Ericssons for the last few years & I have to say that this does not compare. It looks nice but that's it.
The menu system is not at all intuitive & hard to use with sub-menus appearing on top of main menus. Texting is ridiculously complicated compared to the Sony Ericsson method. Oh, & don't fall for the 3 megapixel camera (as I did) - it's over complex & is so slow to capture an image that unless your subject is stock still the picture will be blurred.
I seriously advise anyone against it.

I upgraded a few months ago from D500 to D900. I was very impressed, though at first had a sound problem, due to the plastic on the screen covering the speaker! The phone itself is pretty good, although when typing a text if you need to use a coma you have to go through the menu, you can't add your own message tone.
Recently I have had a problem with the camera, I've noticed I am not the only one, & as I haven't found a solution on here, I thought I would post it once I'd found it! If when taking a picture, when looking through the screen the picture appears to be upside down, use your volume adjuster on the left (up & down) to get it back to the angle that it was at. I hope this helps people if they haven't yet found how to sort it out.
Other than that, I have had it for 6-7 months, the screen has been fine, & so has everything else.
Enjoy!

2: Has this phone got the Speakerphone utility? YES

All in all it's a good phone. There are only 2 things I don't like.

Well, it's been 5, 6 months since I have had this mobile, & after switching from Sony Ericsson & Nokia, I have found that this phone is by far the best. As most of you ppl are pointing out faults about the battery & the screen & camera, I just want to tell you guys, that there are some sets that are faulty, & have some probs with the battery and stuff & if you take them to where you've gotten them from, they'll upgrade the software and you want have the probs then. Because mine is working fine & my friend just got hers, & she had the same problem with the battery & the phone getting too heated when she charged it. So she took it back, & they upgraded the software using flash. As far as the games are concerned, every mobile phone has games, but if you use them too regularly, they can damage your phone & reduce its life.
Also, for the VOLUME issue, there's a code that you can apply & raise the volume of the ringtone, as well as the MP3 player and alarms.
Press *#8999*8378# on your Phone.
1. Go to no2. H/W Test
2. Audio Settings
3. Select Normal
4. RxPGA change to higher say 200
5. Rx.Vol change Level 5 say to 150
This should work. It did on mine as well. So all in all, it is a great phone, & whoever is looking to buy a phone & stick with it, do get this.

The D900 is OK - it does look cool but it is flimsy. Samsung really haven't a spot on Nokia or Sony. The camera is OK, the look is stylish but there is no way that the D900 is anywhere near as good as the K800i.
I use my phone extensively & when you 'spell' a word that the phone doesn't understand the phone takes you to a blank screen & when you commence writing the letters are capital - it always defaults to this - pretty annoying.
When writing a message on the Sony K800i it takes you to a screen that has the last spelling of the word you were trying to spell before & the letters are in lower case - much more sensible.
The Sony also has a proper flash for its camera functions & has cute touches like panorama mode. It is much more like a cybershot camera
the Samsung also does not automatically store your sent messages - I can't find a way to save them without requesting this individually when you send - 'send & save' is the option that you need to choose if you want a history of your sent messages.
I know several people who have snapped the screen on the D900 too.
I still cannot find a way to turn key tones off as it is greyed out. I am sure I am missing something but aren't mobile phones meant to be intuitive these days?
I also lost a Sony K800i when Mountain biking in a freestyle jump park (it must have taken a fair whack falling out of my rucksack), it was found a week later having sat out in a forest in Scotland (the person was kind enough to send it back to me). It still works! I have battered 2 x Sony K800i & they haven't missed a beat. I said I would never change from Nokia but after the Nokia Symbian nightmares & the 3.2MP of the K800i camera, I thought I would change to it. I've never looked back.
Only bad thing I have found with the Sony is that you can't change the volume of the Alarm but it's a very minor point.

Not quite as many functions to personalise as on the Nokia I have as a business phone but it's a phone & it makes calls which is it's primary reason for existence & it is far better than any Sony Ericsson I've used, they have flimsy connectors for the charger (we are on the third one for my wife's phone) & the navigation key on the K700i is the worst I have ever used.

If you want a phone with a very slim & attractive style then the D900 is best for you. It is extremely slim & is very good looking. It is taylor made for fashion lovers & if this suits you & you are not at all interested in the other aspects of the phone such as the camera I would say that this phone is perfect.
This is me trying to see the phone from 2 buyer's points of view.
When I purchased this phone I was advised to purchase this phone over the Sony Ericsson k800i. The choice was frustrating me for a couple of days. But my old phone the Sony Ericsson k750i broke so I needed a new phone. I read the specs & was more inclined towards the D900 as my k750i joystick had like many other people who had this phone, failed to work. So therefore did some research & found out that the k800i joystick went to.
ANYWAY. I think because of my age (19) I was advised on this phone because it is a young person's stylish phone.
BUT. I have had a lot of phones in the past. Phones last my about 6-12 months. So I eagerly anticipated this phone 3MP camera! I couldn't wait. The first thing I tried was the camera & to my disappointment it was rubbish LOL. There is about 3-5 seconds lag on the camera. Which basically means there is a delay from taking the picture & the phone creating & saving the picture. Because it is so slow if you move your hand or the subject moves within the 3-5 seconds there is an indefinite blur. I tried a lot of different settings all the same.
So I moved on to the video camera. It is about the same quality as the 3G phone that first came out. You record it fine. But when it comes to playing the recording back its like 5 blocks moving around. POOR!
The speakers are bad they just hurt my ears. & it's not the volume. But I can't put my finger on what it is.
Another REALLY bad thing. Is the screen. Mine didn't crack but I read that because the screen had to be designed so small it can crack very easily with temperature. During the charge the phone heats up quite a lot & if the phone exceeds 40 degrees it becomes dangerous. So I checked the code when my phone was charging & it was already 47 degrees from 5 minutes of charging.
Very dangerous if you have no insurance!
Also I was very excited that the phone had sonic the hedgehog on! But like most of the games on there. It is very very slow. Every time you jump sonic freezes for about a second!
Rest assured I took this phone back the next day & swapped it for the Sony Ericsson k800i. & I have never been happier with a phone. It's still as stylish. Its no where near as slim as the D900 but I think it looks very. Modern with a hint of maturity & style! the camera is 100x better with no lag. There is an automatic update feature. Games are better. Screen is better everything is better!
IF YOU'RE READING THIS BECAUSE YOU WERE GOING TO BUY the D900! STOP BUY the K800i INSTEAD TRUST ME IT WILL BE the BEST DECISION you WILL MAKE!
In the words of the person who exchanged my D900 for my now k800i:

Great looking phone - shame about the quality. My screen broke in my trouser pocket the day after I purchased it from Carphone Warehouse. Had to pay £40 to get it repaired. The screen cracked again less than two weeks later. Samsung wanted £70! To repair it. Salesman at Carphone Warehouse told me that slim line phones with large screens, such as the D900, had a tendency to crack. Reviewers on other sites have experienced a similar problem. There are plenty of better quality phones on the market. Give this one a miss.

Never had a problem with this phone & had it for over 4 months now. Couple of small niggles though can't change the incoming text message tone which is disappointing (have been told by 02 that Samsung may address this in a firmware update) & why do Samsung feel the need that when you want to add a word it should be in capitals. Battery life is great charge mine maybe once every 3 days or so & if you want to turn off the annoying tone that sounds like your dialing a number when writing a text message then just slide the phone open & turn down the key volume (on the left handside of the phone) to zero, it isn't rocket science people ;-)

I have had this phone for a few months now, & having had many other phones & models in the past, I have to say that the D900 is one of the worst!
Got 1st one back in October, 3 days after using it, it kept crashing on me & going haywire. So sent it back & got a new one. When new one arrived it had its own problems! The Bluetooth fails to work properly with my PC when transferring files through whichever medium, be it USB or Bluetooth. It also fails to recognise my Bluetooth headset. Then there's the obvious other problems such as battery durability, fragile etc.
All in all very poor phone!

Upgraded to this phone from my trusty 2 year old Sagem MY V55 purely to have a 'smarter' looking phone & although it looks the business, there are various usage problems all mentioned in other users' reviews, I.e. Inability to silence the keypad tone when texting, V. Annoying & I also find it quiet when using. My biggest bugbear though is the poor battery life, needs charging every day. My Sagem needed charging once a WEEK & was in use every day, I.e. Never switched off to conserve power. Samsung really need to have a serious look at these user shortcomings. Would not recommend anyone to buy this phone, no matter how smart it looks. I am just waiting every day for the screen to pop now!

Great phone! Just about the Battery Life, beware. The battery life in the first new D900 I bought was very bad, died after 9 hours avg, so I brought it back & got the phone exchanged. That was 5 days ago, & the new D900 I now have is still on 2 bars after 4 full days! I did notice that the first phone got slightly hot in an area behind the 2 button on the keypad, whereas the new one doesn't.

Have had the phone for 5 months. The design is great - gets great comments from everyone who sees it. Couple of gripes though:
1. The battery life is rubbish. Compared to Sony Ericsson phones it lasts hardly any time at all.
2. For some reason, the dictionary lost all my saved words so I've had to waste time re-entering them.
3. Rubbish games.
Overall, I quite like the phone but think I might go back to Sony Ericsson at the end of my contract period as battery life is important for me.

Bad news! Lovely phone. Light, cool & magic. After 4 days of normal use the screen has cracked & neither the manufacturer nor the retailer is interested so we will probably have to pay for repair. Do a little research before you buy this phone. I wish I had because I would have read about lots of cracked screens & bought a more durable phone. So. By all means buy the D900 but remember look don't touch!

I was very attracted to the slim & lightweight design of this phone. Feature wise it could do with voice dialing for use with Bluetooth & possibly a radio like some of its competitors I.e. Sony Ericsson. However, my huge disappointment is the fact that I've just taken it back to the carphonewarehouse re a cracked LCD screen (I thought that it was just a software problem due to the screen going haywire). This isn't the outer glass but the interior. Not covered under warranty! £40+ to repair or, as in my case, via their insurance with a £29.99 excess! I've never damaged a phone before & as this has always been kept in a hard leather pouch, except when in use, I have no idea how this has occurred. Seem's mine is not the only one! SO BEWARE!

Top phone until you want to communicate with it.
I suppose I can't really criticise as my mobile phone needs probably don't fit the market the phone was designed for. Won't be liked by the majority of experienced Nokia/Sony Ericsson users I wouldn't think.
Things I've found it's good for:
Sliding up & down (bit like popping bubble wrap)
Saving pocket space
Playing proper music out loud
Browsing the mobile Internet (just about)
Things I've found its bad for:
Battery life
Texting using proper words (I've never had to press & hold a menu to do a comma)
Sending/Receiving email
Taking photos -Is it me or is it really slow?
All in all. I like Samsung's reasons behind producing a phone like this, but they need to get beyond just coming up with a phone that looks good. I guess its still relatively early days.

Easy to use, been dropped a few times & lives in the bottom of a very full handbag, always works, holds its charge & provided you have read the manual can do lots of fab things. I synchronise with my PC every now & then & the link up feature is really useful, my ringtones are groovy & have got them on by installing a whole cd not by paying £3 to download 15 seconds worth. 10 out of 10 Samsung for this little beauty! Happy Christmas everyone. Xx

I with Lizzy below. You want an MP3 player. Buy one. Want a camera. Buy one. Want a phone with huge battery life buy a bigger phone. Want a stylish slim phone with great connectivity, quad band (so avoiding the dreaded expensive-alarm-clock-in-South-East-Asia-syndrome of most) & usability then get a d900. I up (down) graded from a Smartphone with all the bells & whistles & have found that (like Lizzy) a phone that does all I ask of it & looks GREAT is all I need. I have a 60GB iPod, 7M Sony camera & these I don't criticise for not being able to text or phone my buddies during combined science 101. If you remember when phones were bricks, are ambivalent about functional convergence but want a phone that can hold its own & look like the bees knees then get one now.
Right Samsung where's my check.

2.) I am really worried my screens going 2 crack & if it does I will go mad
3.) I thought they might of realised there text tones are. Rubbish!
4.) On my old d900 the slider was very loose. This ones a little better.
5.) the red colour is different on each part. The top of the slider is red but the back looks more brown than red.

I explained my unhappiness & was asked for £17.50 for the phone engineers to test it. Surprise surprise the report came back saying 'extensive & expert testing' blah blah proved the damage was no fault of theirs & the phone was beyond economic repair (tough luck basically), well they would wouldn't they. The exterior of the phone/screen is unmarked & as new & I know I have done nothing outside of walk, talk & use the phone appropriately. If the phone is unable to handle 'usual' careful use then its hardly mobile to my way of thinking.

I had the LG chocolate for a week or so before taking it back due to a lot of gripes such as the camera was rubbish, batt had to be charged every day, we couldn't get it connected with the computer despite changing the whole package & trying again. Also couldn't use tones that had been Bluetoothed to me, memory for MP3 is rubbish & as for fingerprints over the phone every time you touch it! Well! So anyway, I took it back & exchanged it for the Samsung D900 which so far I am pleased with. Don't know what all the bad reviews are for, I have no trouble with my menu, its easy, my speakers work fine, I can hear callers perfectly & they can hear me, the only downside is what people have said about the message tones, they are limited but you can change them contrary to what one review said. To turn keypad tones off, just turn side volume key right down when touching the keys & the keytone disappears. Nice design, lots of features ets & mps is good quality although the headphones aren't as good as the LG ones. Had to reluctantly with a 1 GB card that works fine but Samsung really need to add a firmware update to accept cards >1 GB as storage capacities are ever increasing!
Neither Samsung nor Orange have much by way of online support or content given that this is part of the flagship range I was a little disheartened.
Suggest for all other problems you read the manual carefully & get to grips with your phone.

This phone I thought was a great improvement to my old one (d500) was just slightly bigger that I had expected but it still looked fantastic, after having the phone for over a month I had broken the screen from a nock or something maybe from being in my pocket but I would have thought they would have been more durable than that, the phone was quite easy to take a part & replace the screen myself but I was hoping it would be more like my d500 that is it was dropped or some thing happened to it, it would just bounce back & not break etc
I do believe the that the phone was very thought out & design is OK just a little bigger than it looks from pictures etc & I can't wait to see what the upgrade from this can be I would definitely the phones weakness as everything else on this phone is brilliant couldn't ask for anything more.

From reading all the reviews on this phone I couldn't believe it. I work at a dealer & I saw that lots of people are going on about the sound of the speaker & ringing volume. The reason for this is the plastic on your screen should be removed. Yes I have sent back a few of these phones because of this problem but we found out about the plastic covering the speaker. Camera wise its clear maybe you guys that's complaining about the phone just had a faulty phone so try to exchange it before your 7 days are over. L in other words make sure EVERYTHING works on your phone before your 7days exchange days are over I think this is a wonderful phone.

Finding it OK, But, sound is a bit tinny compared to the d600 which has been a great phone, to get rid of keypad tones just open the phone & press the volume controls on the left side. Feels a bit wide when holding it - still give it a few days & see how it goes, seems though that the battery life isn't too good, was fully charged last evening but after 5 mins call & 2 texts there is already a white bar showing. Mmmm. Have to watch that!

Great phone. Though takes some time to getting used to of menu & keys. I am well satisfied expect for one problem which I hope will eventually be fixed by a software upgrade. Whenever I try to access the sent item menu the phone restarts. First time it restarted when I forwarded a text message from sent items. Since then it restarts just by trying to open sent items. Does any one know if Samsung coming up with a software upgrade or something?

Just got the Samsung D900 Red & I must say it's a class act, both aesthetically & functionally. I have had loads of top phones in past, including LG chocolate, Sony Ericsson W800i & many Nokia's. Here are the pros & cons of the phone:
Positives: Looks great, large screen, light & slim, loud speaker noise (dunno what everyone is complaining about) easy to use, lots of games.
Negatives: Camera not as good as Sony Ericsson k800i, battery life is poor.
Overall I am very pleased with the phone-also got the LG chocolate which is a beautiful phone but it's tricky to use. You won't go wrong with this phone.

People who are leaving this phone bad comments aren't really giving it a chance. I have had the Samsung D900 now for over two weeks, & I can seriously say it is one of the best phones I have ever owned. If you don't know how to change from predictive text, read the bloody manual, that is what it is there for, its not there to be ignored. Also to the person who is saying they are placing in a 2 GB card, did you turn the phone off before placing this in, because if you didn't, you have most likely screwed your phone up. As when I placed mine in, I had no problems. Or maybe it is just your phone, I am sure if you took it back to the place were you got it from they will be happy to help. Anyway a PHONE is a PHONE. If you want a decent cam, get a digital cam, if you want an MP3 player, BUY ONE! Jeez, I can remember when phones were just used for texting & making phone calls!

I looked around long & hard before upgrading to this phone & I must say when it arrived I was quite disappointed. It is much larger than its predecessors & although it is very slim felt clumsy & flimsy. The slide mechanism grates & isn't as smooth as the d500. The display is good but the camera isn't up to much, not much better than that of the d500. Having had my D500 for 18 months I expected Samsung to have developed something awesome. I wasn't impressed. My over all impression of the phone is that they've just tweaked a few things, not necessarily for the better & marketed it as a whole new phone. I am sending the D900 back & keeping the d500.

At just over one month old, took it out of my pocket to discover screen had cracked. I had left the protective film on & it is clear from this that it has not been in contact with anything sharp. I have found 5 other reports on the Internet of this happening with the D900 in normal day to day use. O2 are largely unsympathetic; they have agreed to replace phone & inspect the broken one, but say they will charge £80 - 150 if they find no manufacturing fault. I am planning on fighting them if they try. In the meantime I have ordered a 2 piece clear plastic crystal snap on cover from eBay to protect the new phone.

To turn off the keypad tones you have to change the dialing display, then the font type bit then you can turn the keypad sounds off. To put predictive on/off just hold down the star key when writing a message! That's how simple this little phone is! But. Considering it's a 3megapix camera, its not brill, but what do you expect, it's a mobile phone, NOT a digital camera!

The Menu Is Idiot Proof To Navigate & the Negative Effect On the Menu's Are Proper Good. The Camera Is Real Feature With This Phone. Pictures Look Pretty Sharp When Displayed On A PC & There's Loads Of Effects To Play Around With. The Sound Quality Is Average Compared With the Latest Sony Ericssons But Livable Just Be Sure Not To Max Out the Volume Too Much. The Design Is A Real Work Of Art. Although When Charging the D900 You May Notice That Lifting the Flap to Connect the Charger or to put an SD Card in Is Gonna be A Little Fiddly. But All In All. I spoke to Orange & they said that I could cancel the contract if I sent it back. The person at Orange informed me that they have had so many sent back due to the volume on the ring tone & also the volume of the incoming calls. Now reading some of the reviews on the D900 I am glad that I sent it back. I have now gone back to my D500 which I think I will stick to. I must admit the design of this phone is quite good, however like most Samsung slide phones they have a lot of things wrong with them. And also there is no point in putting a 3.15mp camera on it when the screen is tiny, unless you're using your computer, why don't you just buy a proper digital camera for half the price which is like 5mp. However overall this phone just isn't for me, I would rather settle for an E370 if I want a slide phone. The Nokia N73 or the N93 is what I recommend getting if the want a good camera phone.

When she got there she took the phone out of her pocket to put in her locker - the screen had cracked. Both Carphone Warehouse & Samsung refuse to replace it - so 6 days life span is acceptable in their eyes! Thanks firstly to those who have posted info about removing the protective film over the screen & speaker. I admit to feeling rather silly at not having removed it but having upgraded from the D600 where the speakers are on the side, I never thought to look. Camera, MP3 etc etc are of no interest to me. Call clarity & organiser functions are of greater use. The D600 was excellent & gave faultless service. The speech clarity enhancement on both phones is really very useful & adds considerably to the quality. Where I have a big issue with the D900 though is the dire graphics where you can only make limited changes to the appearance. The tangerine colour is foul & the menu selection screen very poor & basic. Also the organiser function is no better than the D600 which is a disappointment. When trying to change the ringtone I have found the software from the disk to be faulty at this was confirmed by Shane at Samsung UK, so anyone having trouble report back to your supplier. If within a reasonable time then you can, by law, reject the phone under S14 Sale of Goods Act regardless of what the shop say, as your contract is with them not Samsung.

I got my D900 a week ago & although I am very happy with its good looks I do have to say that I am slightly disappointed with some of its features. Firstly, the camera, despite being 3 megapixels, great photos only come as a result of bright daylight - the flash is rubbish & in the dark all photos come out grainy. Secondly, why can't you put your photos in folders?! This is absolutely infuriating as the only choice of folder is between 'My Photos' or 'Favourite Images' & it can be a bit of a drag scrolling through the thumbnails to find a particular photo. Finally, I must agree with others who have commented on its reception. It certainly isn't the network provider I have stuck with Orange, yet can only use the D900 in half the rooms I could use my old phone in. I had a Sony Ericsson prior to this phone & it's such a shame that the K800i isn't any smaller otherwise I'd certainly trade this in for one of those.

Just got my D900 after returning two over phones within a week (1st been the Samsung E900 & 2nd the Nokia 6280). Had D900 for the day now & really happy with it apart from a few minor gripes. Had the Samsung E900 1st this I could just not get on with, every time I was nearly finished text would accidentally touch heat sensitive buttons on front & wipe text also had the same prob. when nav. menu (so heat sensitive keys not 4 me) Could not have alerts set on vibrate & ring at same time only vibrate then ring. These problems I now don't have with the D900 as no heat sensitive keys & phone will ring & vibrate at same time (what a relief). Battery life seems on par with its rivals, looks great, big screen & great graphics. Only real bug bares for me is that T9 text mode won't set as default input so every time U do a text have 2 set it (only have 2 touch 1 key though I guess, but still annoying, E900 is the same as by the way) & a the lip on the bottom of phone makes it a bit awkward when using bottom 3 keys when texting. So if U have big fingers or long nails I would try B4 U buy. But overall a great phone (Samsung plz. just make a firmware download available so U can save text input method as default) as for the Nokia 6280, well had it half a day. The least said the better there.
By the way if you have trouble with hearing the ring or person on over end of line sounding muffled make sure U have took the protective film of the front of the phone as this covers mike & loudspeaker (not taken the mick either as lots of people leave it on 2 protect screen) Top tip I found 4 protecting screen is 2 buy a set of covers for Nintendo DS screen (2 in a pack) cut them 2 size & put 1 of them over. Really cheap, protects screen, just peel it off when it gets marked 2 much & stick another one on. Easy

At first getting this phone having not upgraded for many years I was happy with everything generally but then had the same problem that Ellie Wilkinson posted with abysmally low volume on ringtones & music & read instructions back & forth to no avail & event took it back into the shop, & the (Saturday one brain cell) staff looked blankly at it & said send it back. So having arranged to do that I googled the problem D900 volume fault & found the reason - simple - remove the protective screen cover which is so well sealed on its barely visible, & covers the tiny thin speaker grille which can't be seen otherwise. Instant high volume!
A very basic mistake to make, as I had left the clear cover on day 1 before getting a case sorted amazing how no one in the mobile phone shops knew this though. Votes done not knowing a lot yet about the phone but it seems easy use & is nicely designed
The online PDF manual is better than the printed one unless you have macro zoom lenses in your eyes, it's a smallish font on thin translucent paper so the text shows thru both sides making it confusing to read in poor light & impossible outdoors.

I have no idea why they always delay bringing such great technology to the United States. I had to buy this from an online merchant. I was looking for a slim slider, & thought my only option was the upcoming Motorola. When I saw the Samsung D900, I was shocked that I'd heard nothing about it.
I've had it for 2 weeks. Amazing form factor. Very slim & fits in the pocket very comfortably. Slider is very smooth. Camera leaves a bit to be desired, especially indoors & at night. Flash is more of a light than a flash. MP3 player works well & not having the iTunes restrictions of my old phone (Motorola SLVR L7) is a blessing. Call quality is average. I hear people better than my old phone, but have a couple people say that my voice sounds a little be garbled at times.
Overall, great phone with lots of features with an amazing form factor. I guess the benefit of not having it marketed in the US yet is that many people that see it ask about it & want to know more about it.
Very happy with my decision.

This phone is one of the best looking phones on the market. But I've been having a few problems with this phone, & I've notice that many people experienced the same problems too. First of all is the sliding design feature. It's a bit "wooblely" -- I know I didn't spell it right. Anyways. I also own the Samsung T809 (D820) & its slider is very smooth & solid. The D900 seems a bit loose. The menu in the D900 is not very appealing at all. Secondly, this phone does not get very good receptions. And please don't blame it on the service provider. I'm with T-Mobile & they have great signal. My T809 gets very good reception. The BIGGEST problem that everyone seems to be experiencing is when you make a call, the phone would restart. Meaning it turns off & on again. I experienced this on the 3rd day I use this phone. After a month it gets worst. When you slide the screen down, it turns off. When you press menu, it turns off. When you make a call, once in a while it would turn off. And I'm sure that everyone has this problem. I this phone is still in its beta stage, & eventually they will take this model off the market or come out with another similar, more workable model. Anyways, the D900 is bad, don't buy it unless the fix these problems. Don't get my wrong, the phone is great......only for the first 2 weeks. I'm glad it has a 1-year warranty.

Please can anyone enlighten me, I have found 3 major problems with this phone 1 - the ringing volume although set on 5 being maximum is woefully quiet is there any way to alter this? 2 - reception of incoming calls is abysmal, it sounds as though the person you are trying to talk to is under water - why? lastly the uppermost navigation button is obscured by the slide mechanism. Unless the first two issues can be resolved (obviously third issue is design) I personally think this phone is very very poor

I was very impressed with this phone, I know nothing about modern technology so took my bf with me & he told me to go for it for the dialing display alone. the camera is the best I have had, flash was slightly disappointing, although I am yet to have used it outside, where I guess it would be better as inside the picture quality is always at a low.
My only faults would be that my message tone can't be changed to anything but the preset ones. And I find it difficult to use the keypad sometimes. It is a bit too large compared to my old phone so often I get carried away but other than that it is a fantastic phone, my first Samsung, I would definitely consider them again.

In the words of a Ex Big Brother House mate this phone is MINT... The camera is MP3 which is amazing & it has heaps of effects & settings to have some fun with. Samsung have got the style & look of this phone perfected. Great phone to use & great phone to look at what more do we want from a phone. I have found nothing to moan about on the Samsung D900 & I search for an error or failure but nothing to find wrong about this. The battery is good, the memory is fine with a memory slot available & technology works well. Sorry about the Big Brother comment but it is truly addictive .... Pete or Glyn to win..... Bring back Nicky... Even if your not a BB fan you will still go crazy about the D900.

Hi ya All, Love the Samsung D900 & its looks are a winner in my eyes. My casing & screen have not scratched yet & the D900 doesn't show all my finger prints on it. I love the 3 mega pixel camera & flash is the best. My photos are coming out perfect & I am really happy I picked this phone for it's camera features & looks alone. I had a few problems trying to save files onto the memory card rather than the phones memory which must be a technical fault. I could rattle on for hours about the camera feature & go on & on about all the photo effects I have had fun with but just believe me, the camera is tops on the Samsung D900.

What a phone, I think this phone needs to be advertised a bit better, I thought I was quite up to date with all the latest mobile phones but I guess I'm not. This phone is brilliant & needs to be thrown in the potential users faces a little bit harder. It is thinner than I thought it would be & it is a dream to use the camera, music, video & messaging features. Connectivity & transfer is fantastic, but best of all I am enjoying all the features on the D900, which is a first for me. Congrats to Samsung on this phone but advertise a bit harder would be my only comment.

Super phone & only the second Samsung I have owned. I bought a Micro SD card with it when I bought it & a good job I did as I am always taking pictures & videos with it. It is the best phone I have ever used & it has Bluetooth & Edge technologies which is super. I would recommend this phone to all.
