I think it is a great phone, some really modern features & I enjoy it but I think I would rather have the Incredible S now I have seen that. Having said that the Galaxy S 2 is coming out soon so I may hold out. Would definitely recommend though.

The Galaxy S was (& still is) one of the best Android phones when it appeared in the market. Fabulous display, easy to use & very customisable. However a couple of drawbacks are present: the battery lifetime is not so good, the camera is only usable outdoor (no flash or led) & you have to use the latest Android 2.2.1 if you want the phone to work as intended. The Galaxy S is soon to be replaced by the new Galaxy S2 & suddenly this phone will probably look quite old.

Can someone please tell me if this phone has a second front camera where you can take pictures of yourself? Thanks.

Hi all, I am hoping to own this phone in a few days time, Xmas gift from my partner, but I have used his phone a few times & simply adore it, he has had the Galaxy S for approx a month & what a phone!
I have made enough hints, so if I don't get it Xmas morning there could a problem, I.e. He will be in the same situation as Kevin from Corrie, homeless, Ho Ho Ho, Merry Xmas to Your Mobile Phone Reviews UK & thank you.

This is my 1st Smartphone with touch screen but after just a short while I have got used to it & am loving it!
The screen is brilliant, I can't imagine any other phone has a better one.
I've found it easy to get on the web, make calls, text & get the music player to work (which are the main things I use a phone for).
My only gripe at the mo is there don't seem to be phone profiles I can quickly set the phone too e.g. Quiet while I am in the office etc.
The software for it (Kies) doesn't seem to be up to much, lot's of error messages so far, which is a shame.

Love this phone. My upgrade was due & it was a choice between this or the new iPhone. I am glad to say I went with this one.
The Samsung Galaxy S is a brilliant phone, nice big screen which responds well. The only thing I dislike on the phone is that there is no flash on the camera but that is about it!
Battery life isn't too bad, although when browsing & playing games it can drop quicker.
If you're looking for a Smartphone then I highly recommend this one :).

Traded up from an iPhone just because of the restrictions Apple put on you when you own one. Am loving the phone (mostly) because you can do anything with it (unlike the iPhone)
Pros.
- Beautiful big screen.
- Customisation endless.
- Camera & HD video very good.
- Battery life is good for such a big screen (as long as you use the charge & discharge method for the first week ie run completely to dead before recharge).
Cons.
- A bit laggy (froyo should fix this).
- App market not as good as iPhone but getting there.
- No other cons!
Best phone on the market at the moment.

Had this phone for nearly a week. It's totally fantastic, has so many features I'd be here all day describing them all to you.
I can't really be bothered to go into how utterly brilliant this phone is, as it'd take me ages as there is literally so much praise to be given to practically every aspect of it.
If you're after a phone with the best screen available today, with the best operating system (soon to be even better with the Froyo 2.2 update) & that's different to the gazillions of people with that popular phone manufactured by some company, I forget their name, I think it's a fruit or something. !?
Honestly, the first day I took it into work I had people practically fighting to have a look at it. Nearly everyone there has a banana iPhone bore or peeGS, & the Galaxy's screen was noticeably bigger, more responsive & way brighter than either of those iFails, sorry iPhones.
& to top it all, the Galaxy S (what a cool name BTW) hasn't dropped any signal whatsoever whilst making a call, & that's even without a cack looking rubber bondage case thingy!? Unbelievable!

OK got this sent it back after 6 days. ONE massive problem the BATTERY. What is the point in making a phone that is meant to play games, movies, Internet on its lovely huge screen when the battery will not last 4 hours when doing so. On a normal day full charged in the morning after a few calls & maybe a quick look on the net it would go into the red buy 2pm. It's a brilliant idea but sorry Samsung you really need to have a good hard look at what's more important stupid gimmicks or practicality.

My phone before this was pretty old, so getting this phone was like going from grainy black & white photographs to seeing a movie in surround sound & 3D.
Let me start with the negatives.
Cons.
- 2 downsides for me, thumbprints show on touch screen when using, but not sure what you can do about this. Maybe it's just the way with touch screens?
- More importantly, I actually agree with the reviewer Shahid. I am currently changing over contracts so am still using mostly my old phone as I transition over. I have felt a noticeable difference using this phone on my body, might be nothing really, but even though it has a low SAR rating (which measures the maximum readings for it I think), something tells me its average radiation is actually much higher than probably every phone I have used before.
If anyone else notices this (or doesn't), please comment about it so I know if I am going made or not.
Pros.
- Very quick. Screen is amazing, so big, bright & beautiful. There is so much you can do! I had to pick between this, the apple, & the HTC & I don't regret my choice so far.
- Design 90%, because of thumbprints (& no flash on camera, though not a big issue for me), otherwise would of been higher.
- Features 90%, so much you can do.
- Usability 70%, a bit lower, generally because of the calls situation. Does seem to emit something that effects the body more than other phones I've had (obviously this is just personal experience & I could just be living in coo coo land here).
I haven't had the phone long so might try & come back & update.

Hi there, my husband & I were umm'ing & ahh'ing whether to cue from hours to get the new Apple iPhone 4, hey & we are very pleased we decided not to, what a flop that phone has been. My friend has to hold her phone a certain way to get it to work, pointless.
Anyway the Galaxy S was our other option, a very wise option in our opinion. We love our new phones, so much better than the iPhone 4, it actually works ha ha ha. My husband uses his for both work & personal use, whereas I use my solely for personal use, although I tend to browse the Web so much more on this phone due to it being so simple ( for even me) to work out & use.
We would both recommend this phone to others, we were not big Samsung fans, previously Apple users & Sony Ericsson users, so Samsung is definitely the way forward.

A great phone, fast processor, bright screen & uses the Android OS. I have had no problems with this phone so far. Don't know how someone can blame a phone for headaches. If you do not want to get an iPhone or a HTC desire this is a definite alternative.

Have had this phone for a week now & here's what I found. It is a slick looking handset & the screen is amazing. At first I thought the touchwiz 3.0 really sucked after seeing a mates HTC desire, but after a while I got used it after being able to download various home screen launchers but still the HTC sense is much better.
Despite being technically superior to the HTC Desire other than the screen you can't really feel any superiority. There are quite a few negatives. Firstly, the screen although only being slightly bigger than the HTC Desire & I Phone 3G is awkward to hold & use with only one hand but boy do you get used to it, try using any other phone & you miss it! Because of the rubbish touch wiz 3.0 the screen does lag at various stages & totally put my mate with the HTC Desire off from buying a galaxy. I understand it lagging when you are using data intensive apps but even when trying to call someone?
But by far the biggest disappointment is the Radiation (SAR), despite having one of the lowest SAR's I've ever seen I get headaches & my head starts to tingle when I am using the phone, so much that I am going to sell the phone!
