I haven't actually got the Orbit BUT what I have been reading on the Internet is actually quite good. It has the whole Microsoft package. It has a stylus (which I find useful) it also has gps, Wi-Fi, & every thing you could possabily need! By the sound of it, it seems great but of course I don't know. If I were you I'd get it, just like me, I am getting one tommorow & I can't wait.

I am perhaps not the ideal user of a XDA 2, I want a phone that that I make calls on & text immediately. If someone gives me he's mobile number & asks me to text him I have to go through silly pages to make him a contact with XDA 2. If I am out walking & spot a action I want to photo & email home its difficult. These things I could do easily with my old Nokia so I am not impressed.

Superb, why would you buy an iPhone or similar? Get a decent browser like Opera Beta downloaded & it is near perfect.

I will review the phone in more detail later. In general it is an improvement on the Orbit & works well, with the usual Windows Mobile interface gripes.

But there is one big problem which will affect everyone interested in Mapping. The GPS chip is different from the SIRF Star III on the Orbit, & is nowhere near as good. It locks on quite quickly, with the help of Quick GPS, but is not as accurate or as stable as the old one. Your position is likely to be 30ft off, & to wobble around. It is OK with the built in Co Pilot software, because that locks you to the nearest road which masks the lack of precision supplied by the GPS chip. But with Google Maps & Anquet Maps, the lack of precision is very clear, & there is a distinct lag of about two seconds in updating your position (strangely, this is not noticeable in Co pilot). There is also a bigger delay when you start to move. Some people suggest that this last problem is due to Static Navigation' being permanently on, so that small movements at low speeds are not registered (in order to overcome ghost movements caused by a lack of precision in the GPS position). I am not sure about this, because small movements sometimes ARE registered. Some websites give registry fixes for the lag, which should not be necessary in a fully tested product.

I got an iPhone 3G & a orbit 2. If you're a tech head then go for the orbit 2 if your not a tech head still go for the ORBIT 2 its wins all phones hands down. It's more than a phone it's a laptop in mini size.

I have this phone for 3 months now, I've changed it from ORBIT 1, it is a very good in use & brilliant as a navigator!

The only downside was that the design hasn't changed much since ORBIT 1.

I think battery runs longer, haven't used camera just yet but I am not in taking pictures with phone.

Overall I really like this phone it is improved model of the previous one as it works much faster, & have to say it again the navigator is AWESOME!

I upgraded my Orange SPV M700 a couple of months ago to the Orbit 2. I was pleased with the easy of transferring information & the familiarity of menu layout, however there is a MASSIVE downside to this pda, the screen.

I tend to use my phone & other features outside & the screen is really very poor in daylight. Indoors there is not a problem, easy to see, use & clear. Outdoors I find it almost impossible to see the screen & menus on it despite trying umpteen different approaches.

I would say that this pda is a pleasure to use, very versatile, fast, lots of easy to use features, built in Wi Fi & GPS excellent (in my view), the ONLY thing I don't like at all is the reflective screen.

I will stay with this phone for the time being but will be looking around for the upgrade or might even (under duress! ) have to migrate to the 3G iPhone JUST for the screen clarity.

I have owned an XDA orbit for 2 years without problem, best phone for platforms etc. Try XDA developers for some help with your phone. I would suggest a return to O2 if it is that bad. May have a glitch in software, XDA have good Rom.

I have carried an IMATE for the past several years and really liked it except for the downtime in the shop and the charger port on the phone becoming loose and unable to charge, hence the trips to the shop. I bought an O2 on the advice of the sales assistant who said it was much better than the IMATE, i.e. faster, more memory, etc. This phone is absolutely terrible. It freeze's, the battery only lasts a few hours and never signals that it might be ready to go out. It will shut off at 70% battery and sometimes 30%, you never know. I still haven't been able to install the backup & synchronization software on my computer where it will work with the phone. The phone is the slowest phone I have ever used and that is so important as I use it in my job every day, all day. The screen is not sensitive at all, and the buttons are hard to push. The worst part is the slowness. I feel this phone is the IMATE JAM in a different case. If anyone can inform me how to speed up the phone, why the phone keeps turning off with no warning, etc, please reply to this message.
