The design is OK but the thing is that the aluminum thing gets scratched fast plus the speaker paint comes out & sometime the speaker goes in & as it is features are old because as the windows mobile 5 has more features & then windows mobile 6 even more O2 doesn't even care of making an upgrade & usability is OK nice large screen for browsing net but there are no soft keys or OK button or start menu button but I only don't like 1 thing that O2 doesn't care of making an upgrade at least to windows mobile 5 if anyone know where can I find it please let me know.

All I can say. GPS. Your office. LAN. Remote for your TV. DIVX compatible. I think the design is a little poor cos something this size should be able to grow legs & make the dinner. Although Skype works on it, so you could always call someone to do it for you. A1 product!

I have owned my XDA IIi for 18 months, & whilst I don't have to use it as an external office device, I chose this phone because it was the only one on the market that offered an organiser/address book feature at the time, which I really wanted. The tradeoff has been to own a phone that I find too large to carry around, apart from in a handbag, which I don't always want to do, which means having to leave it behind sometimes, making it a not quite so mobile phone.
However, I love the fact that it has a lovely large screen to tap/write texts & emails (the transcriber is a bit hit & miss, & my texts look like the policeman from 'Allo 'Allo typed them), the camera has been sufficient although I tend to use a normal camera for my needs most of the time.
The Windows functions were a great feature until my synchronising failed, despite downloading new software onto my PC, so now I can't do that, which means my Outlook, Calendar, Appointments, EXCEL & Media Player are all well out of date.
The phone occasionally locks up, & needs the battery to be removed to reboot it. The phone cannot be turned off, unless the battery is permanently removed I've discovered (or I've not found the off button)! I am convinced there are lots of features I've not discovered on this Aladdin's cave of a device.
The camera softkey on the side, as another reviewer mentioned, is placed in exactly where your hand naturally wants to grip the phone, so you find you've accidentally turned it on, & then wasted lots of battery life. I bought a leather case for my phone to protect the large screen, & what I considered was a rather flimsy back to the casing, & this has certainly affected the loudness of the phones ringtone. I seldom hear my phone ringing unless I am in a quiet environment, or the phone is right beside me (I don't hear it in my bag if I am shopping). One last thing, I've found the Bluetooth function inconsistent, & usually unable to either find, or be found by another device.
I am looking to upgrade my phone at the moment, but am at a loss to find a suitable replacement. I'd considered a Blackberry Pearl, but the reviews are scathing, so I am now unsure. I think I will keep my XDAIIIi as a PDA, & just replace it for a smaller dedicated phone to accompany it. This is a bit of a mixed review, some good, some bad, but the fact that I can't find a replacement (other than another XDA) & am willing to keep it in my bag is testament to its features.

I wanted a phone with email access & web capabilities. This is the worst communication device I have ever used. The phone voice calls are terrible & the phone will crash after a maximum of 5 mins conversation. Email is slow & Internet useless. Take my advice & avoid this piece of junk!

Rather big for a mobile phone, but hey...it's a PDA phone...what can you expect? : ) Most of the initial features are excellent & with Windows PC 2003, it can be connected to any desktop PC installed with Active Sync in order to exchange data of your contact addresses, dates, ect with Microsoft Outlook. You can also find 3rd party products (software & hardware) to enhance its performances. Though, there are some extra features which I would like to see, but there's always a limit for everything. For performances & usability, for sure, it can handle all of my needs smoothly.

I would not recommend this device. When used as a phone it sometimes locks up & requires a re-boot. Further when used with satnav (Tom Tom) software & an associated GPS input it becomes extremely unreliable & usually requires a re-boot every 30 minutes. Annoyingly, after a reboot one of the buttons defaults to a camera mode which is difficult to disable. If you are not careful this will consume the battery power. The button is just where you tend to hold the device & you cannot avoid taking pictures by accident. The wireless LAN detector is also difficult to disable after a re-boot &, when driving, gives continuous alerts of new networks which obscures the satnav display. I have not yet discovered how to delete all the default pictures. For someone on the move the, phone control ergonomics leave a lot to be desired. Invariably one loses the stylus after taking the gadget out of your pocket.

The Xda IIi is a fabulous piece of technology which brings together a phone, PDA, Bluetooth technology, WIFI, wireless LAN & Windows Mobile 2003. I am pleased I went for the O2 Xda IIi instead of the O2 Xda. The usability is second to none on the Xda's & if you need the PDA then this is the phone for you. I have been the proud owner of my Xda IIi for 5 months & the price was very attractive then but even less now.

Best phone ever, had a problems in the early days with the media player & synchronisation software but now it works well & I know how to work it. I use it for sending faxes, emailing, invites on the calendar, 1.3 mega pixel camera & Bluetooth works well. No keypad on the XDA IIi which suits me as I don't want it that's why I choose the IIi. The XDA IIi allows me to work like I am in the office.
