OK. I may be tight & still use this phone but I am a Mum! Anyway, why has mine come up with the words, CHECK BATTERY TEMPERATURE? Does this mean the battery is dead? If so why can't they simply state 'DEAD BATTERY'? IF SOMEONE KNOWS the ANSWER (O2) THEN PLEASE LEAVE A REPLY, WITH THANKS, POOR DEVON MUMMY.

I brought this phone about 6 months ago for £20 from a discount store advertising it as £180 off, because its 5 years old. I brought it mainly because I don't use phones like my mates do, I don't sit in classes with it under the desk texting for hours on end & continually taking photos, all I needed was a simple & cheap phone so I could make the odd text & call & a photo once in a while.
That's exactly what I needed! & this was a great little phone with a decent camera & no software faults at all.
Although there are a few hardware faults:

- 5 yrs old, out of style.
- For what it does, it's is majorly over sized.
- Battery sticks out almost a centimetre from the back.
- External antennae.
- Friends will laugh at the fact their phones do a lot more but are about 3mm thin, labelling this a brick.
- Don't try to unscrew it to get the phone out, I've been on eBay looking for a spy camera solution, then decided to take the camera out of this, extend the wires & record through a button hole on my jacket, sadly the camera is non-extendable.

I've decided to go for an O2 XDA Exec, because I like O2's 10% back every 3 months & it's a laptop, GPS, phone & MP3 & MP4 player all in one.

If all you need is a cheap phone for texting & calling once a month or so then this is a good choice, if you need daily texts & calls or lots of photos then go for a much newer phone.

I have got 2 of these phones, both second hand off eBay. The first one kept turning itself off so I kept that as spare, & works fine when needed. The 2nd one is now 3 years old & has finally died on me, refusing to turn on if the SIM is in! Besides that I have found this phone GREAT. I have got a 512MB mini sd card in it, & that stores loads of MP3's & pictures or videos. The video quality is fabulous, the picture quality is good although not good enough to download & order as prints. I found the USB easy to use & transfer data, but tended to use the SD card in a SD card reader & drag & drop the files I wanted, it's much quicker.

I really like the fact you can have 4 different alarms set & alarms on the calendar reminders & MP3 ringtones. Providing you set the video to save to memory card you can record as much footage as the SD card has room for! It's such an easy phone to use, a child could work it!

With the fashion trends now, it looks a bit outdated, mainly due to the external aerial, but still a fabulous phone in my opinion, & can be bought new really cheap on eBay! There doesn't seem to be any other phone that is as reasonably priced, has extra memory & does everything this does.

I have had this phone since Xmas 2004 & it has served me well. The number of the pictures that it takes is amazing, along with the long lasting buttons (24000 texts & they're still going strong- woo!). It is loud, good picture quality & amazing videos can be captured through its 1.3 megapixel camera, good times.

However, one problem I did encounter is that it switched off on several occasions (with full battery), which did frustrate me a little. Moreover, the infra-red port didn't function after several months of using the phone, but there are ways that I got around this.

I will be sad to part with this phone for the w660i, & it will remain number one in my phone collection.

Thank you, O2 x3.

I am going to get this phone at least by the end of July. It looks great! & I am looking forward to getting it loads! But could you just answer a few questions,

- How long does it actually take to take a picture?
- Is the 'I' button annoying?

Thank you.

I have a Sony Ericsson 6k10i but the prob with that you don't get any thing out of the top up because I have a 3G network but my mate was on about getting free text's & call time bolt ons so I took the 02 x3 as a second phone & its been great I mean I can get 300 texts for free out of 10 pound plus keep my top up but on my other phone the Sony I use 10 pound on credit while I don't get any free text's & a tenners worth is a 100 text's so I say the 02 has great design poorer features but over average usability with the calls & txting so this phone would be great for a second phone to text off or to call off.

I think it's a very good phone! Very easy to use! Some what weak battery, few less features. Another thing is that if the battery portion would not bulge out it would give a better luck!

In all I would give it, 7/10!

I bought my x3 December 2004 & still have it. I managed to send 1 picture message & then it refused to send any more (a common problem it seems). Also it OCCASIONALLY switches itself off (another common prob). However these are the only probs I've had. The best thing about this phone is the video recording. Most phones, even the Sony Ericsson k800i, only record 176x122 at 15 fps. The x3 does 176x122 at 30fps (TV quality!) as well as 352x244 at 15fps. Using these you can record for 1 hour but you need a memory card (I have a 1GB card so could get 4 x 1hrs)! Using a converter that you can download free off the web you can convert videos to play on the x3. I have some music videos plus clips from films & the quality is just like MTV! The camera takes great pics but only in daytime & the MP3 player is great- VERY LOUD! It also looks better than just about any other phone going & is small and slim. If only I could magically transform this phone by adding a higher mp camera, Bluetooth & 3G video calling. I will replace it eventually but I will still miss the x3. It's the best phone I have had just for the top quality video recording/playing alone.

I have had this phone for ages & it's the worst phone I have ever had. You can't put any songs onto it through the USB cable even with the software. The cameras bad. Video recording time shud be longer. It needs Bluetooth. Thank god I am getting a Samsung e900 which is a 10/10. If you're thinking of buying an O2 X3 don't ITS BAD.

I had this phone for about 7 months & fell in love with it immediately. The camera quality was good & I spent hours on end playing caveman! I know that sounds pathetic, but it is an amazing time waster! However, after a few months it began to get temperamental & before long it began to turn itself off when I put the flip down. Hugely disappointing as I could have gone on with this phone for many more months.

Had this phone up until 2 months ago & it served a purpose & to be fair it wasn't a bad phone. X3 is a nice looking phone with quite a few fun features. The camera worked well & I enjoyed it very much. The integrated music MP3 player was poor quality compared to other phones but at least the X3 had a music feature. I would say that this phone run the coarse of time & I had it from new in Feb 2005 so it lasted well. Would not highly recommend but if you like the look of it & don't expect the best music player it will suit you.

I am mad about the style & looks of my X3, its a small & sleek mobile phone but I was upset when it started to get scratched. I have now realised that over time it looks rather messy & battered. The phone has not been mistreated but looks like it has been through the wars, a bad design fault.

My X3 has been a very good phone & the 1.3 mega pixel camera is a good quality camera. A bit of a weighty phone & I have to be a bit delicate with it as it can be temperamental at times. I have had the X3 for 8 months & it is only now that I am considering getting a newer & faster moving mobile phone. I like the Motorola RAZR V3i & RAZR V3x.

Too many fault with this phone, I too many problems with this model a year ago. After the replacement phone was still slow & freezing to white displays I gave up & went back to Nokia. O2 provides a great network service but this model of phone caused me too much hassle so I would be put off to try another O2 phone although the XDA's are wonderful looking.
