I have no idea how good this phone is, as I took mine out of the box, put it on charge for several hours, I came back & tried to switch it on & it wouldn't work. I have read lots of reviews about people having problems with the N95 & having sent mine back to O2 today, I think I may change to the new Samsung Soul. The camera & the fact that there is no sat nav on this Samsung, means the N95 is probably better, but I haven't read many complaints about the Samsung.
First impressions are everything, & the Nokia N95 gave me a very bad first impression. The fact that the phone wouldn't even turn on the first time I try, I wasn't impressed.
Unless you are going to get this phone on a free upgrade, I wouldn't bother buying it, there are countless bad reviews, there are also good reviews but the same complaints seem to keep occurring, about the screen freezing, it turning itself off & not turning back on etc.

Brilliant, had it for 5 days now & it's amazing. Got an 8 GB memory card & so far have 841 songs on there. Occasionally it shuts apps down randomly & I don't particularly like predictive text but apart from those minor things its fantastic.

Think the phone is great when it works but mine keeps crashing & half way through conversations it turns itself off then when I turn it on I have full signal but can't make phone calls or accept them or send texts then when I phone Orange call centre I get told it's not for people like me it's for people who are on the go & only use it for GPRS & the WAP.

I would definitely go for the N95 it's excellent. I can do so many things on it, it looks stylish, the sound quality is outstanding, & the picture quality great. It's like having your own portable PC. I have got sat nav on mine which is a great extra. I've had Samsungs before wasn't impressed with sound volume or quality. BUY BUY BUY the Nokia N95.

To be honest don't be fooled on the memory & all the FLASHY features this phone I barely have anything on it same things to what I had one my 6288 & it freezes the cam is slow it freezes when you slide the screen across its so annoying takes forever little features that add up this phone doesn't have to end a call you can't slide down to close it & end a call it only answer calls by sliding up (& yes I know there is settings to change that I am not stupid) but the phone doesn't have it getting out of simple menus is annoying a lot of little dumb things. It switches off a lot too by itself then your forever waiting for it to turn back on when you go buy it have a muck around cause it will annoy you rather the 6288 easy to work with not as flashy but it won't freeze & drive you nuts send so the job plus a lot of people because it's a work phone say I sound distant & when I switched using my 6288 they said I sound clearer because oh yeah the microphone crackles it's a rubbish PHONE & 3 of my work buddies have it & we had it CHUCK BIN & I am very easy going with phones.

I was a little nervous after reading the reviews but I am really pleased with this phone. There are a few itty bitty gripes such as no lens cover on the camera (which is superb) & the supplied headphones. My previous phone was an 800i & the 95 8GB just buries it. The software is great & loading up the music player was quick & easy. Top phone, buy one!

Got the n95 3 model from USA was suppose to be made in Sweden model but was made Korea, but other than this so far so good best phone ever & takes great pictures & movies too. GPS works great too after updating to Nokia maps 2. Listen to music using Motorola S9 Bluetooth headset great! Would buy another one no problems.

I think N95 is a strongest mobile phone in the world because my mobile phone has fallen many times but nothing happened. I loved it.
Reviewer: Debbie - Leicester, UK

After sending one back to T Mobile because I thought the speakers were broken, very poor sound output, I realised the new one was just the same!
I thought the built memory was poor, unless you paid the extra money, as I only had 8 songs & 30 photo's & was having to delete previously saved files to accommodate new ones!
The Carl Zeiss camera was the worse quality image I have seen on a modern camera phone, even compared to those with less pixels & the camera button was very temperamental, making spontaneous photography impossible. My friends & I had aching jaws from having to wait so long for photo's to take!
I never experienced any trouble with the battery, though never kept the blue tooth on. The design is poor, & was hard to scroll through the programs. Where is the alarm? I know it has a lot of built in features (most of them being very disappointing), but even so, this phone is quite bulky & old fashioned in its design.
I have purchased the new Sony Ericsson W890i, I have never had any problems with Sony's in the past, always finding them to be reliable, & although they have less features on than the N95, at least the features they do have are quality & work!
I wouldn't advise anyone to buy an N95, though I am selling mine for £100, any takers?

I had this phone on an early upgrade. After hearing about the sat nav I thought I just had to have one. Soon as it came I got second thoughts as soon as I turned it on. It took ages to start.
The sat nav is total pants never get any satellite signal I put in a destination that I know & started driving. I got there before the sat nav even calculated the route due to poor satellite, drove 6 miles.
The applications keep freezing during switching. The camera is A1. Think hard of your requirements before buying. Mines going back to swap for Sony or Samsung G800.

I read all the reviews & I must say different people with different opinion, great. I feel what we should be doing is to let the manufacturers know where they are going wrong, it's alright to say the phone can't do this & it can't do that but what is the main reason for the use of the phone?
This is my second handset & what I have discovered that they both perform differently in their features, for example the volume performance while having a conversation in my opinion the battery his not powerful enough to run the amount of features on the phone, taking in to consideration I noticed that there are a lot of comments about the size (brick) we all Sony Ericsson the phone so presentation wise the size should not be such of an issue.
Overall it's not a bad phone, try your best not to drop it.

I really love my N95! I was always swapping phones every couple of weeks until I got my N95 its ace!
There are a couple of weak points being I don't feel the screen is properly protected! (I broke mine) & the battery life is awful! But instead of complaining about it like most people I used my noggin an bought a spare battery & dock to charge it!
Plus points are I can put my 2GB SD card in & got plenty of memory! Love the camera its ace! Love the 2 way slide it amazes people LOL! Laura.

Got the N95 a year ago when first came out as had whole heap of problems but a year later find myself with the difficult decision of what phone to upgrade. Was advised by upgrade person that n95 is now problem free & the best phone around so I went for it again (not the 8GB one).
Had for 3 days & I must say how pleasantly surprised I am, the phone is not freezing like it did before, works perfectly. Sound quality is excellent. Have not been able to get Sat Nav to work but I have a tom tom so maybe not trying hard enough. Camera is excellent in good lighting but when it's really dark they are not as good as expected & the camera button to take pictures takes ages to take a picture sometimes.
I am on T Mobile & it is annoying that there have been 2 software updates one in November & one in March that it won't let you update to!

Had the Nokia N98 8GB a few days now. It's on a Vodafone contract, here are the plus & minus points.
Plus.
- Screen is superb.
- Menu is easy & clear.
- Camera is superb quality.
- Video is excellent, especially in good light.
- Symbian is easy to use.
- Superb easy link between PC & phone, full calendar & contacts.
- GPS works well.
- Speakers are good, best on a phone.
- Big memory.
Minus.
- Two way slider which opens in pocket.
- When open keys are small for a big phone.
- Keys feel plasticy.
Overall, I pondered about swopping for the Sony Ericsson 960i but kept this as reviews are better. The screen & sound are the best in a current phone. Having problem uploading software from Nokia onto phone, think it's a Vodafone problem.
A very good phone.

I LOVE this phone! I've got the N95 (not the 8GB) with a 4GB memory card. Don't pay any attention to previous bad reviews of this phone! Seriously, if your phone keeps crashing, return it, you obviously have a faulty phone!
It's a great phone, yes, the battery life isn't as good as other Nokia's I've had but only turn the Bluetooth on when you need to use it & that really improves the battery life. Like an iPhone reviewer said, the other option is to keep a spare battery!
The sat nav is very accurate. The times I've used it, it's been as good & accurate as the office TomTom! The music player is excellent & with the 4BG memory card stores hours worth of music.
The camera is outstanding! The quality is truly superb. You can tell from a photo when it's been taken on a mobile phone, but this you can't, the images are the same quality as a digital camera.
I recently updated the software on my phone, & got extra trial games, like tetris (hugely addictive! ) & SIMS (just as boring as the full game! ) but, the graphics on them are superb!
This updated software has also improved the camera (if possible! ) by not taking so long to take photos.
I would seriously recommend this phone to anyone!

Really disappointed with this, got it on 18 month contract with T Mobile had it 6 months & can't wait to get rid of it.
Cannot handle any programmes in the Applications folder, games etc. Just crash. Don't think I have used a single application without the phone crashing & resetting itself.
Battery cover is very flimsy & broke after a couple of weeks, now taped on!
Battery life very poor, varies between 6 & 24 hours.

This is a great phone.
The 2 way slide is a great design feature that enables easier use of the MP3 player.
The battery needs to be charged every day because of the functions but other than this no real problems. The barcode reader I don't know how to use & seems pointless to me.

Hi I have just ordered this phone on a new 02 12 month contract I have tried it in the shop a couple of times but obviously it don't compare to owning one I currently have the LG Viewty & I understand the Nokia has some extra features such as wifi & sat nav. But do any of the owners know the answers to these couple of questions.
- Does it come preloaded with maps?
- How much does it cost to use sat nav I am aware if you want the person to talk to you its £40 a year or something but is general use just what it cost to connect to the Internet?
- If you have installed the accelerometer plus it is good & worth installing. Is it like the iPhone where if you install third party apps it cancels the warranty?
Thanks.

Overall really impressed with the ideas with the phone. A camera on the back & the front, radio etc. However slightly confused by the way the bar code scanner :S.
User friendly I got the hang of it & learned all the functions in about 10 minutes
However the battery does seem to struggle with all the functions, it just means you put it on charge every night or so when you go sleep. It is slightly slow but about 0.5 seconds.
I would recommend it & people who have looked at the phone would be inclined to buy it. Every phone has defaults but these ones are liveable with.
Only had the phone 5 days mind.

I Can Proudly Say I Have Owned My N95 Since the 3rd Of April 2007, Its Release Date.
The Phone Is Good Yes. Amazingly Good Actually, But It Has Its Flaws, Like How Slow It Is! The Fact It Only Lasts 2 Days MAX With Full Battery Also If You Want to Record Anything Bring Your Charger Along Because It won't Last 5mins.
The Camera Is Absolutely Amazing, I don't Think I Have Ever Taken So Many Pictures In One Year Before. But I am Fed Up With It, Needing A New One, Everyone Has the N95 Now & I am Bored Of It.
The N95 Would Be Perfect If It Wasn't Such A Smart Phone & Trying To Be Everything At Once! The Speakers Are AMAZING On It. I Proudly Play My Music Louder Than Everyone Else, That's If I Know My Battery won't Run Out Mid Song!
Good Phone, Too Much On It!

I got this phone November 2007, already I am fed up of it & have ordered a new Sony Ericsson phone. When I use the camera the phone restarts its self. It freezes, decides to go through my gallery mid text to the point where I just want to throw the thing across the room, the battery life is poor & I am charging this phone twice a day. I have always trusted Sony Ericsson's & can't wait to receive my new phone.

I am just coming to the end of a 12 month contract & so looking forward to a change.
I found this phone tries too hard & never really achieves anything. The GPS & Internet tend to crash after a few minutes. The phone takes excellent pictures but takes an age to do it. When taking calls the sound is tinny & distorted.
On the plus side the large screen is great for texting & games. I have also dropped several times & it seems to be Stella resistant! I also tried Nokia customer support they were friendly but basically washed their hands of any problems. I think I'll go back to the N75.

I got this phone on the first week of its release last year when the price of the handset was set at £560!
Good points.
- MP3 is amazing for playing music! The loudest speakers on a phone ever!
- Camera is amazing camera for a phone. I am into photography so I know how to use the functions & I must say I have had some incredible results.
Bad points.
- This phone is the easiest phone to break on the market! Every time you drop it, it breaks. I had it for a month with no problems until it fell off a chair onto the floor & never turned back on. I had it replaced, the day I got my new N95 I put it in my pocket with my car keys & scratched the screen really bad. Then the volume down button broke so music is stuck on 100% volume & can't turn it down & I can't zoom in on the camera no more. Also I dropped it again only onto a carpet this time & cracked the screen & can only see half of it & I have had to tape the back of the phone on because one of the bits broke off.
Overall I love the phone a lot because of the camera & the music player but it's too easy to break so maybe one to think about when considering buying it.

This is as close as you're going to get to the perfect phone in terms of features & flashiness. Forget the Apple iPhone. If you're from the UK you know America is way behind in mobile technology trends, & the iPhone is prehistoric compared to the Nokia N95.
The out of the box N95 is cool enough, but if you've got the Internet, there are fantastic things you can install & upgrade to amaze your friends!
The multi slider function is a great show off on the bus action!
A lot of people don't know that the N95 has an accelorameter hiding in the depths, & that makes this phone extremely appealable to some! This can be activated by installing a plug in (easy easy as a couple of clicks) & you can then use applications which react with the tilting of the phone. Wii esque, if you know what I mean! Applications include flipping the screen automatically to landscape (rotate me) Shaking the phone to perform actions & even tilting the phone to navigate the menus. This is a sign of things to come!
& the idea of connecting it to the TV to play games & videos is great too!
Guys, & girls, this is a must have. I swear!

Was looking for reviews for other Nokia phones here (getting new one for my hubby) & decided to have a say about my Nokia N95.
I am surprised how many bad reviews are here, I had my phone since last October (soon half a year) & I didn't have any major issues with it at all. I love the camera in it, pictures look great, I always use it as a music player, sounds great too.
I dropped it BIG time few times, I mean so bad that twice I had to collect pieces (phone, battery & cover for it) from the floor of the shop. But it's still OK.
Few times I noticed like it was rebooting or something, it froze once or twice but it doesn't bother me because any piece of electronics will do it, go into any phone reviews here & you'll find it everywhere.
Used Internet on it, fine too, & my battery lasts at least two days sometimes even more, I think it's OK considering I text loads, listen to music & make quite a few calls a day, so looking at these reviews here I'd say maybe some handsets just have faults in them but it happens.
I didn't give 100% to it on anything because it is as all phones now not perfect, & usability 90% cause I don't use all the stuff that's in it.
I'd recommend this phone to anyone.

This is the first Nokia I've ever owned & I am feeling a little disappointed. My N95 has frozen on me after having it for only two weeks. There is a telephone receiver symbol in the top right hand corner of the screen which is flashing green & yellow. Trouble is. I can't switch it on & I can't switch it off! Argghh someone help! Neither can I find a solution in the accompanying booklets. I am loosing the will to live.

The Problem with the Gagdet is the battery Life, it's so terrible & frustrating, if it could Last a day it would have being better Off, don't know if better batteries have been made to replace the old ones, after this it works well for me maybe features that will protect ones file & pictures could be added in future.

Good Point.
- Excellent Quality pictures (really good).
- Design on it OK.
- Wireless Internet was good.
Bad Points.
- They tend to have a mind of it's own.
- Buttons on side went.
- Barcode scanner (did anyone ever use that).
- Opening up files sometime took a few attempts which I found was the main problem & it would say empty when there were in fact data there.
Really wanted the N95 & was probably one of the first to get it very disappointed, WOULD I RECOMMENED TO BUY IT, NO.

I have owned an N95 for a few months now, & I think I made a bad mistake purchasing this phone. It should be called a bad phone which I believe to be a far more accurate & worthy title than Smartphone which it certainly is not. My own personal experiences started with a blocked phone from the beginning, which resulted in my network informing me that there was no problem with the phone when there actually was.
During the three weeks I was unable to use the phone, I reverted to using my old phone a Sony Ericsson w850i.
Granted the N95 is pleasing to the eye, but all that glitters is not gold. After installing the Nokia software that came with the phone I decided to check for updates, this was also another big disappointment as after backing up the contents of the phone & installing the new firmware a lot of applications were missing from the phone.
Nokia is a manufacturer whom I will definitely not purchase another phone from. I now use a Sony Ericsson & find this to be a phone of higher quality than any of the inferior outdated tat that Nokia produce.
My advice keep clear of Nokia.

I upgraded to my N95 based on a lot of the reviews I have read, & I thought I would add mine.
Design:
The phone is actually quite bulky, & yet the slide is very flimsy to the touch & feel as you are using it, you can buy a set of plastic covers from eBay which look dreadful & actually hinder the use of some of the buttons. The keys are tiny I am male & have the fingers of a man so yes more often than not found myself hitting two keys at once. Another thing what is the point of a 5.0 Mega Pixel camera that has no protection or guard, again this phone will live in my pocket how long before the damage sets in. All in all Nokia should have done better.
Features:
This phone is packed with them, some might say too many, but then the use of a mobile phone is always expanding, I didn't see the point of some of the games, but having a Shortcut to sites like You Tube was a unique thing to find on a mobile phone. I got on with the camera fine, although I know there are others here who have not. The clarity of the screen & the pictures when the pictures are displayed is very impressive.
Usability:
Forget it, this is where the dream ends I am afraid, firstly screen lock or should I say locks, this happens constantly, & at random, is very frustrating. This phone struggles to run the Java based Tetris game it comes with the demo of, locks the screen, game is running not accepting inputs, or is in a state of crashing, & this is a basic program. The slide what does it actually do, not a lot other than lock & unlock the keypad, & yes it does not hang up the call, or close applications for you. Now before anyone jumps in & says well some applications you want to run in the background constantly, firstly I would agree, but wouldn't it be better if the phone could distinguish from those you have authorised to run in the background & those you have not. Staying logged on to the Internet for a weekend was not my idea of sensible, not knowing I was is even more infuriating.
I am not a technophobe but this phone is a nightmare to navigate, a nightmare to run, the menus are infuriating, the lack of a sensible close down facility means as you are getting lost the odds are you are probably leaving applications open. The PC software well that was such a joy to use, (Sarcasm) as every time I connect my phone to my PC Adobe Mobile Photoshop searches the phone for new pictures, most annoying.
Next try & download Firmware updates, the message saying your phone is not connected tends to contradict the PC Suite software screen that says it is, or you could get the Firewall is blocking access to the Internet message which appears even if you have switched off your Firewall, but the best I have saved until last, after spending 20 minutes downloading the update the message telling me that my phone was not compatible with what it had downloaded I thought was priceless. Genius!
My last piece of advice is the following, if you have seen the pretty videos of something called Rotate Me on different websites which makes the N95 behave like an iPhone think again. Firstly you need a certificate to get the freeware to run on the phone, secondly unless you are a Developer you will not be getting one soon from Symbian, all you will be getting is more frustration like many others already have, & lame excuses from them. Trust me I know through the experience of the last week.
Avoid this phone until they have sorted out the mess that it currently is.
Good luck in doing that Nokia & Symbian.

Possibly the worst & most disappointing phone ever made! I am tied into an 18 month contract with Orange & am awaiting my 7th replacement handset in as many months! You name the fault, I've had it, sound going, front page crashing, phone automatically switching off, Internet failing to connect (twice), now the phone doesn't ring when you receive a text message! It promises the world but delivers pretty little. Don't even think about trying to get on any decent high graphic websites on its Internet, there's an error message you'll receive each time Out of memory, please close down applications, think I've seen that 30 times a day for the past 6 months!
In a nutshell, the N95 looks & teases you with fantastic Ferrari like features but actually it's got a 1.2 litre engine that would barely power a Skoda (that's a metaphor by the way). I repeat, don't get this phone! I am counting the days until November when the contract expires & I am free of the worst mobile ever created!

I had this phone for a week before sending it back. It had all the features that I wanted plus many, many more. I expect this phone is very good for people who need to have everything with them in one box & occasionally use GPS.
Pros.
- Design, the phone feels solid & heavy. The slide mechanism both ways is very good & the screen is clear & sharp.
- Features, Excellent camera & good amount of expandable storage. A huge amount of applications that can be added.
- Usability, Easy to navigate menus & lots of functions available with one click.
Cons.
- Design, even though it feels solid the finish is quite cheap. For a top of the range phone it should look & feel better than this.
- Features, Only thing I didn't like having to pay for GPS data but that's the same with any phone based GPS system. Aside from that it seems to do everything although you have to buy software for it.
- Usability, the one button shortcut functionality meant that the phone made a call while still closed & in my pocket which should really not be possible. When using the multi direction button it is far too easy to hit another button & cancel what you are doing. The WiFi was rubbish & would not stay connected all of the time.
All in all it could have been a great phone but the usability & design let it down for something in this price range.

To all the original N95 owners who have been experiencing problems with their phone i.e. Battery life, GPS, camera etc, I would advise you to upgrade to the latest version of the firmware.
Unfortunately & takes 15 minutes (Google for it).
However, the amount of improvements to the phone easily outweighs the above risk in my opinion. My phone never crashes, a single charge can last a few days, GPS has instant lock in even inside a building & the camera is far more responsive.
Plus by upgrading to V20 you also get the NGage software if gaming is your thing!
The N95 is a very powerful phone & rewards those that take the time to learn it inside out.

If you're buying this phone for the camera function DO NOT BOTHER the picture quality is good but by the time the thing is ready to capture the image your subject will have died of old age. It painfully slow at everything! Every time you take it out of your pocket the sliding front will have switched it into landscape mode & you slide it back & wait 15 seconds for it to adjust back to portrait. I am not the most patient person in the world but my wife gets ready to go out quicker than this thing takes to open an unread text. IT IS PAINFUL!
The GPS is a gimmick & if you want to use it, it has to keep connecting to the Internet & costing you more every time. If someone then calls you have to start again. It locks up loads, the battery won't last a day of heavy use, using a Nokia Bluetooth headset with it kills the battery in 30 minutes. I have had Orange replace the last one & the new one is just as bad. They have had loads of complaints about it, too clever for its own good, probably. I could paint a picture quicker than this camera phone would photograph the same scene.

There are a thousand reviews on here, so I'll keep it fresh.
I have the 8GB model & this is essential as the battery life issues of the initial model have clearly been looked at. If you get the newest model & update the firmware to version 15 then you will have excellent battery life. I just spent a weekend in that London & used the phone as an MP3 player for approx 60 songs, used Wi-Fi in my hotel room, took photos at party & British Museum, used map functions a few times (very useful feature even if you don't use the GPS bit) & then another 20 MP3 songs on the way home & a few texts.
& the battery bar dropped one notch! This isn't a phone, it's a convergence device. I would have taken 3 or 4 other gadgets away with me but the N95 (8GB!) is all you need.
Use the excellent all about symbian site for details on how to unlock it & then flash the firmware to v15. Anyone else who posts about battery life problems either has the older version or hasn't flashed the firmware.
My only gripe is that the jpegs are a bit over compressed, indoor shots are only 800k though outside ones in better light are 1.5MB. Camera isn't as good as my Ixus55, but then I don't tend to take my Ixus out all the time. But MP3 playback, video, Wi-Fi, mapping are all excellent. & you can download maps from Nokia. I've got UK, Spain & France on it & they take less than 1GB & include excellent Nearby details e.g. if you're going somewhere it can tell you nearest restaurants, cinema, etc & do you a route guide! Spend a few hours setting it up & upgrading & this phone is like having a gadget collection in your pocket.

N95 8G (the new black version)
This is a stunning bit of kit. I've been using Smartphone's of one sort or another for years, P800, HTC tytn etc & this is a step up from both.
Firstly size, A lot of people have been saying its way to big. Yes, it is big, but IMHO not too big. In fact it feels a little smaller than a lot of my friends phones that do not do anywhere near as much as this.
The photo quality is stunning only surpassed by the quality of its Video recording VGA @ 30 fps from a phone is a totally amazing feat.
One thing that is not publicized in the specification is the N95 (& N95 8G) have an accelerometer built in. You know the iPhone advert when the phone is rotated & the screen orientation follows? Well, the N95 can do that too :-), you need some free software to do it though, Google for rotateme.
The screen is also stunning, very bright & colourful. Makes video & image playback a very pleasant experience. Great phone.

I hate this phone, it freezes. It scratches easily & it's bulky!
I bought this phone last year in September from Carphone Warehouse Orange 18month £35 a month contract.
In December, I dropped it by accident & the plug that you put the computer cable in filled with mud, I cleaned it out but it must be disturbed, sadly having very important files on it I can't now put them onto my laptop where they need to be! So off to Carphone Warehouse I went, & they said this was not a normal damage & did not help me in anyway. Because the insurance on the phone was £20 more it was already adding up to £50 just the device so £70 was too much, two days after canceling my insurance my keyboard came off the whole thing, so I can't cancel my contract as that will cost around £300.
So I am stuck, I am currently looking at the Nokia 8800 sirocco, but I am thinking staying away from Nokia.

I have the n95 8GB black & it's awesome! Just upgraded with Vodafone, I was on 18 month contract & was at month 16, rang Vodafone & asked how much 2 upgrade to n95 8GB, they said £145! I said that I'll cancel my contract at end of 18 month & just re apply with Vodafone & get phone free, so I asked for my PUK code, operator put me through to another department & they asked why I wanted to cancel so I explained as above, then she put me on hold & came back & said we can offer you the n95 8GB, result, I have had the phone 2 weeks after having a n73, & a lot of the features are similar, people have complained of poor battery life but I can't complain, its lasted 4 to 5 days with calls & texting & Internet, looks wise its smaller than n73 although a little wider but that is because of screen, pictures from the camera are excellent & I thought n73 was good, overall I'd recommend this phone highly, good job Nokia.

It's been over a year since I've had this phone & thought it was great to start with. It was the new cool thing to have. Now after twelve months, it's a very disappointing.
It can crash several times a day without reason, turn itself off & is possibly the slowest phone I've ever owned. While strong on features, Nokia don't seem to have got even the basics right. Sometimes a caller will not be able to hear you if you, or they, have made the call. A battery reset is in order to resolve this. When a caller is able to hear you the reception quality can have you straining to hear the person even if the phone has a strong signal.
I know other people with the same phone & they are experiencing the same problems. Starting up the phone can take what seems like ages too. Even though I have hardly any apps installed or music on the memory card you can almost make a cup of tea by the time it's got itself sorted out.
The GPS software supplied is a joke. It takes ages to acquire satellite information & by that time you may have already reached your destination. A much better alternative is the Blackberry Curve for SatNav features (Vodafone Sat Nav is very good) & the new HTC Touch Cruise seems to have it all (although camera isn't as good).
The only redeeming feature of this phone is its camera. I think it was the first 5MP camera phone on the market & it does take excellent photos, but (& there is a but) the interface to use it is tediously slow. Reviewing pictures just taken can take ages to load especially when you want to see it straight away.
All in all this phone is a bit of a sheep in wolfs clothing. The stats look good on paper but it doesn't deserve the hype that it had at the time & the new 8GB version is the same old Nokia format with extra memory. Many applications installed & available for download too but many unnecessary (barcode scanner, why? & lifeblog, why? ).
Anyway, if you must buy this, satisfaction does not come guaranteed. You'll be bored with it in 6 months.

I work for a Network provider & so knowing the problems we had with the N73 I waited a month before buying the N95, in April 07. Saying that, I've had no problems with my handset at all.
I have been really impressed with every aspect of the N95. The design of the phone is lovely & whilst people often comment that it is a 'brick', it is only slightly wider than most standard candy bar handsets & yet accommodates a huge screen. There are no fiddly joysticks or bits to break off, & the keys are easy to text off. The camera has always really impressed as I often get better pictures on there than on my digicam, & there are tons of editing features for both images & video on the handset itself, rather than just with the PC software.
The user interface is fairly simple although as someone previously commented Nokia tends to hide a lot of features within submenus. The office applications are useful for doing work on the go (I store coursework on mine so I can proof read on the bus! ) & the maps function is a great edition.
The music player is very good for a phone not primarily designed to be one, & the speaker quality is fabulous, often phones have speaker problems when attempting to play music at high volumes, & yet I've found the N95 to be remarkably clear.
I won't go on too much about other features because half the fun of a new phone is finding these things out yourself!
One of the N95's biggest triumphs in my eyes is its ability to be so many different things to so many different people. It can be a great camera or MP3 player for people who are after that, & yet it can also be a wonderful business phone for those who need something along those lines & yet don't want a more bulky phone with a QWERTY keypad. Basically whilst it is packed full of features the N95 allows you to easily ignore anything you don't need or want, without preventing you from enjoying the phone.
As others have stated there are easy ways of optimising battery life, if you are willing to put the effort in. People mention how they didn't have problems with their older Nokia's but what would they prefer, the functions & therefore the small issues with the N95, or a basic handset with a stronger battery life? If it is the latter then ask yourself why you purchased the N95.
Also, keep the software updated. The Nokia website has these for free & they are easy to sort, & they do sort out minor bugs plus introduce new little features! One thing that really bugs me is that people don't seem to understand that technology is not perfect; if it was there would be no market for anything new! I am not blind to the problems this phone has had, & yet it annoys me greatly when people assume that it has to work perfectly all of the time without software updates & other general maintenance.
Overall it is a great gadget, & in my eyes a good compromise between a standard mobile phone & a HTC, SPV, Blackberry esquire type business phone.
However, you have to be sure you will cope with things like the battery life etc before you purchase it, otherwise you might be disappointed.
