Nokia N90 3G SmartPhone Review

The Nokia N90 is a state of the art Smartphone which has been beautifully & well designed. The N90 is a member of the N series family which includes the Nokia N71 & the Nokia N80. It comes in a sleek silver coloured casing which is very attractive.. The phone comes complete with some fantastic features which really gives it charm & intelligence all in one. The N90 can be opening like the average clamshell design phone but then when the phone is opened the screen can be rotated a full 90 degrees. The phone can be simply opened & used as a mobile phone in its clamshell style of opening or the user can rotate the screen which allows the N90 to be used as a video camera or digital camera. The N90 is a duel screen smartphone, the larger screen rotates to work as either portrait or landscape. The smaller screen is used to display general information & for simply taking a quick photo or even for reading text messages.

The built in 2 megapixel camera comes complete with 20 x digital zoom, auto focus & flash. The photo quality is fantastic & the camera comes with an anti red eye feature which is a very useful when trying to capture the perfect photo.

Video recording could not be easier for the user as the rotation screen makes the Nokia N90 feel like a camcorder in their hand. The record feature can be started & stopped with ease by one touch of the control. The phone comes with video & still picture image editor to give some great effects. It is possible for the user to select capture scenes which include sports, portrait, scenery & night scenes. The N90 allows the user to have a two way video call by using the video capture feature which can give a really personal feel to a call. The N90 comes complete with Carl Zeiss optics which produces bright, clear, crisp images that can be edited, viewed, shared or printed by the user.

The N90 comes complete with MMS messaging (multimedia message service) which allows the user to send images, text, video & sound all in one message to any MMS compatible phone. The phone also comes with SMS (text messaging), instant messaging & all the message services come complete with predictive text input.

The XpressPrint printing solution allows the user the freedom to print out their photos using a compatible printer, kiosk using Bluetooth technology or saving & printing from the MultiMediaCard (MMC) memory card. The N90 comes with 27 Mbytes of integrated memory & is expandable to 64 Mbytes by using the inserted MultiMediaCard (MMC).

The personal information management advanced series 60 PIM allows the phone to store information including calendar, contacts & to do list. The N90 has an integrated handsfree speaker, voice recorder & voice commands which are exceptionally clear & very user friendly.

I purchased one of these in April 2007 from Carphone Warehouse within months it developed a fault. CPW could not repair it & provided a reconditioned replacement. That immediately proved faulty (cutting out during operations). Two attempts to repair it have failed. I was offered a replacement new handset in July 2008 but this has not been honoured. Both the product & supplier are not recommended.

This phone is rubbish but a cool looking thing. Had it for two years now & hoping to get rid of it soon. Don't waste your money in buying one as it's a brick, so with a load of them you might be able to build a house with it. But it's a reliable phone.

I bought my Nokia N90 as soon as it was released, & now I have had it over two years.

It's still ahead of the crowd in many ways. Its big yes, but you get used to it. Actually I have become attached to having a nice solid phone. Can't be doing with these wafer thin plasticy things that are out there.

The camera is great! It may not be sleek but it's well crafted, & feels great to make a call with.

Getting ready to upgrade to a Nokia N95. I just wish they had followed the same flip phone style for that as my N90, as it stops the screen getting scratched. Ah well, can't have everything.

Love Nokia phones, & you should too.

I don't understand, why people are voting for this phone very highly in here? ! This is the worst phone I've ever seen, it has an ugly & boring design, this phone is very big in size guys & when you hold it in your hands you'll be discomfited.

This phone hangs constantly & is extremely slow in both speed & performance & Nokia N90 even loses to Sony Ericsson K700i very easily. If you ask me about this phone, I'd answer to you honestly that it's a piece of rubbish & it's a sandwich not a mobile phone & remember that this phone doesn't have vibration, can you believe this?

N90 is overall a very good phone but the only problem I had with it is its speed, it's too slow & it hangs a lot & it's too heavy also. It's a man's phone.

I absolutely love the look of this phone & it has been on my wish list for a very long time. However it is still terribly expensive so it's unlikely I'll get one for Christmas. I think I'll get the Nokia 5300 XPressmusic.

Its design is very good. But it is the slowest mobile I have seen ever. Don't spend your money to buy it. A better buy is the N80 or N93.

Big, heavy phone made from very good quality plastics & shiny metal detailing. All open/closing/twisting actions are positive & the phone feels very well built. It has a large, clear screen on the cover which can be used to change setting, view text messages & act as a viewfinder for the camera. Open up, & you'll find a bright, clear high-res screen which sets this phone apart from other models. Keypad is large & easy to use, none of the hit-two-or-three-buttons-at-once nonsense here. S60 software is a big change from 'usual' phone software but easy to get into & very easy to set up to your preferences. Camera & video recordings very good quality. Sound from internal speaker is excellent, tones are clear with good range & not tinny/harsh. Call quality is very good.

Only downside is that menus can run a little slow & sometime the gallery can be a bit slow to populate with your photos/movies, but that's it.

This is obviously a Man's phone, aimed at gadget lovers. Very good, very exclusive - highly recommended. Usually after 6 months with a phone I start looking at newer models & thinking about upgrading - but as yet nothing comes close to the N90.

I love my N90 for its features; excellent stuff for everyday use. Makes it easy to truly communicate away from the desk. But it is rather sizeable for a lady's palm, & some of the features seem to be in the 'wrong' folders; for example, the recorder being in Office rather than the Gallery where you have the video function. All in all a great Nokia, & very LARGE on the Wow factor!

Interested in this Nokia N90 bet the phone is going to be rather pricey, as it is full of quality extras. Like the idea of the twist & rotate action, hope it feels quality to hold in the hand. The N series seems to be rather top end of the market phones from Nokia. Going to get one as soon as I can. I will let you know how I get on with it, so watch this space.
