I've had my N800 for only a few days, & this is the best little gadget ever! A few weeks ago, a friend came over with his Sony PSP & hooked up to my wireless network & surfed the net. It was neat, but slow & typing was very slow. So I thought to myself, I wonder if anyone makes a portable Internet device that would be similar to the PSP, only better.
After a short Google search I came across the Nokia N770 & N800. Spending about a week searching & reviewing the N800, off to eBay I went. For $210us I got a new in the box N800. Now I know the Apple iPhone & iTouch have Internet browsers, but I found them to big as far as MP3 players go. I have an 8g 3rd gen iPod Nano, which is tiny & is great for sports & taking to the gym. The iTouch is a little too large for that. As far as the PSP goes, it only grabs the signal at 802.11b. So it's a lot slower. Games & movies are great for the PSP.
Now to the Nokia N800. It is Linux based so the software is free. As far as games go, it's not that good. Most games are simple stand along single screen games like chess, checkers, Tetris. Etc. For media, the video is very good! It's a bit too large for a MP3 player, but does play them well, & with the free software out there, you can mimic the kinetic searching like the iTouch.
Now for the Internet part. If you want Internet on the go, then this item is for you! The screen is awesome for this & features a full 800 res image so the entire webpage will fit on it. The screen is the best I've ever seen on a small device. It s sharp & crisp! Connecting to a network is very easy.
Now for the free Internet part. If you live in any city in North America, you should be able to pick up an unlocked Wi-Fi signal. I simply drove around in my car & let the N800 search for signals. I couldn't believe the amount of signals it picked up. I'd say about 25% to 35% of the signals were unlocked & I was able to connect to them & surf the web. I found the best places to get free Wi-Fi was near apartment block high rises, 3 level walk up apartments, condos & near hotels. Go in the heart of any downtown & see how many signals you get. WOW!
Another nice feature of the N800 is you can get Skype for it. Skype is a VoIP calling program, which gives you very cheap calls. So it turns the n800 into a phone as well.
If you're still not impressed go to YouTube & type in Nokia N800 & watch the videos on it.
- If you want a game player, get a PSP.
- If you want an MP3 player, get an iPod.
- If you want to have a portable Internet & some of the features of the two mentioned products above, GET a Nokia N800.
The best $200 I ever spent!

This is not a real phone, but another gadget design to surf & keep you connecting through your current network you have or through you hand phone. N800 useful to people who work outside of office & connected wirelessly, if you used 3G phone its mean you carry 2 items with you.

What are all these ppl on about? The Nokia N800 is NOT a phone. It's used for surfing the Internet using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth through a phone but it is not a phone! The N80 is, not the N800. It works great for what it does. Very strong reception too.
