Hi Johno, Really trying to get hold of one of these. Where did you get yours from? Nokia said they won't have them till mid October & for around £300? Cheers J.

Note from the editor: John sorry for the delay, thanks for the great review.
Without a doubt the best phone I've owned ;-).
In all fairness the previous 18 months I'd been stuck with a Sony Ericsson W960i which was massively underpowered processor wise but made up for it in battery life.
The E55 on the other hand is a revolution in mobile technology, not only is it smaller, lighter & has a small nuclear reactor for a battery, the HSDPA speed is one of the best out there (a 1/3 quicker than a 3GS! ).
I am still getting used to the half QWERTY but every day is quicker & I've no doubt that I'll be rolling out messages without having to look in no time.
The screen is bright & laid out nicely with easy access to apps & all the everyday functions of texting or camera etc. Setting up email was also simple & the push method works a treat as they're instantly accessible without having to actually log into your client first, everything is automated naturally so a couple of minutes & you're done.
Still a bit new to the Ovi maps but with the A-GPS I've not encountered any problems & it's found my position in seconds, with a wave of the phone (to calibrate the compass) you're off. Again, I've not fully followed a route using the navigation but it starts up & seems to point in the right direction.
Camera works well too. I am no David Bailey but I can see how well the pictures have come out of the 3.2 meg & they're good enough in my opinion. When you take them off the camera & look at them full resolution then there is a slight bit of graining but let's put this in perspective, 3.2MP is larger than my 20 monitor so you always downscale them for any viewing, printing or sending, in which case they look excellent, perfectly clear. There are better camera phones out there but they are also all much bigger physically so I am happy with the trade. If I WAS David Bailey I'd actually use a camera of course, something most people seem to overlook! Incidentally, the slimness of the phone means it fits in the pocket of a pair of jeans with no discomfort while sitting down.
Of course, there are a million other things this phone will do that I've not covered but just compare the spec sheet of what it will do compared to an iPhone 3GS (which was my other option) & I think you'll be amazed. Once you get bored after the first week of the all the millions of daft apps you have to buy on the iPhone & you actually want a phone that when you've gotten in from the pub the night before & haven't charged it, you haven't got to kick yourself all day that you're walking around with a dead brick in your pocket because the batteries flat. I've been messing about with mine solidly for five days downloading stuff, using the Internet, texting, calling, photos with flash, email, GPS etc etc & am only having to recharge it today.
I suppose to conclude all of it, it is really well made & looks smart too, in fact, I think it looks awesome in the black with silver bezel. The people in the office are very jealous. More so because the guy with the 3GS is paying £45 for a 18 month when I bought the phone & moved to a £20 a month plan with unlimited Internet, 800 minutes & 1600 texts on O2. Quality!
