Our Nokia E55 Review

The Nokia E55 is a bar shaped 3G Smartphone which comes with a distinctive compact QWERTY design. It has a QWERTY keyboard which is built into the well spaced numeric keypad which allows the user to input text & numbers at high speed. This handset has a solid design which is in a bar shaped casing & measures 9.9mm deep, 49mm wide by 116.5mm tall. The E55 weighs only ninety six grams including a fitted rechargeable battery which is lightweight for a Smartphone with so many features & built in capabilities. The user will find the screen perfect for viewing colourful images, messaging, videos & much more. The screen is a high colour screen which displays up to sixteen million colours on a QVGA type screen with a screen resolution of 320 pixels by 240 pixels. This perfect viewing display is 2.4 Inches in size when measured diagonally. The user can enjoy a user friendly user interface complete with two home screens which include a personal home screen & a business home screen to suit the user's requirements for both personal & business use. The user will find a well positioned key which allows the user to access their home, calendar feature or integrated email feature by one press of this dedicated key. The Nokia E55 comes with a fitted battery which is recharged via the power adapter provided with the handset & when fully charged the battery can provide up to eight hours of GSM talk time or six hundred & seventy two hours of GSM standby time when the user is using their handset over a GSM network. If the user is using their Nokia E55 over a WCDMA network the user can enjoy less talk time & standby time but can still experience approximately six hours of WCDMA talk time or approximately four hundred & fifty six hours of WCDMA battery standby time. The E55 is a member of the Nokia E series which includes other Smartphone's such as the Nokia E63, Nokia E71 & the Nokia E75 but all handsets have different features & built in technologies.

This amazing Smartphone is a 3G HSDPA handset which supports high speed connectivity, 3G video calling as well as multi use of features such as receiving a call whilst surfing the Web. The E55 supports WLAN WiFi technology allowing the user to connect their Smartphone to a local WLAN or close by hotspot to achieve an Internet connection on their phone via a wireless connection to the WLAN or hotspot. The Smartphone supports other high speed technologies such as HSCSD, GPRS & EDGE which allow the user to enjoy fast connectivity & transfer rates on the Nokia E55. The user of the E55 can connect to compatible devices using either a USB cabled connection or a Bluetooth® wireless connection when connection to a compatible personal computer, laptop, mobile phone, PDA or printer. A built in A GPS navigation system which supports a Nokia maps application allows the user to gain street by street navigation to new locations. The E55 comes with a Symbian 9.3 operating system complete with series 60 third edition software & the Smartphone supports an easy to use user interface.


An email service supports many popular email protocols including POP3, IMAP4, mail for exchange & SMTP. The email service provides support for lotus notes traveller & the user can enjoy sending & receiving emails complete with attachments. The user is able to enjoy a mobile email service on their Nokia E55 just like the email service a user experiences on their personal computer or laptop but the E55 is fully mobile. An instant messaging service which supports Windows MSN Live & Yahoo! Instant messaging allows the user to have online chats with compatible contacts that are online at the same time as the user. The instant messaging feature allows the user to share short text chats & fun symbols with other contacts in an online chat. A SMS service allows the user to create, send & receive messages containing short text or long text input which can be shared between SMS compatible contacts. The user can manage their SMS inbox & SMS sent folder by selecting multiple messages to delete them together. The Nokia E55 has a text to speech message reading feature which allows the user to hear their messages out loud as well as reading the text on their screen. The SMS text service comes with a recently used numbers list which allows the user to access their recently used numbers quickly & easily. The Nokia E55 comes complete with MMS picture messaging support which means the user can share pictures & even short video clips with other MMS compatible contacts & this is a fast & fun way to communicate using pictures. The Nokia E55 comes complete with Internet access & this well equipped handset comes with a Nokia Web browser complete with a mini maps facility. The built in browser supports HTML, XHTML, MP, WML & CSS browsing. This handset comes with built in games which include a block cascade game & a solitaire game as well as the Smartphone supporting N Gage application.

An integrated 3.2 megapixel camera comes with all the built in imaging features a user could desire on their mobile handset. The main camera has a LED flash, automatic focus & a four times digital zoom. The flash function comes with a user setting option which the user can chose between an automatic setting, off flash & a red eye reduction setting. The camera comes with a dedicated camera key which means the user can enjoy holding their handset like a digital camera & using the capture key which is well positioned for ease of use. The E55 has a second camera which is a front facing camera which allows the user to use this camera when the user of the E55 wishes to take part in a video call as the front facing camera can capture the user's expressions whilst the user is viewing their contact on their screen. The Nokia E55 supports video recording capabilities & the user can capture moving footage at up to fifteen frames per second. The video recorder comes with a four times zoom function which allows the user to capture up close footage on their Nokia E55. A video scene selection mode can be set to either automatic setting or a night setting dependant on the users surroundings when recording their footage. This highly capable 3G Smartphone supports video steaming & the user can play back video footage in popular video formats including MP4, 3GP, H263, H264, RealVideo, Flash Video, WMV & RV.

This compact Smartphone supports both MP3 ringtones & video ringtones which the user can change to their desired ringtone sound. The user can turn the loudness on or off depending on the user's needs & adjust the equaliser to gain the best sound to suit the users style of music. The user can view their album art covers on their colourful screen & use the repeat or shuffle features when playing their music. The Nokia E55 has a music search feature which provides the user with an easy to use search feature by artist name, album name or genre. This Smartphone supports both audio streaming & audio recording in MP4 format. The user can record voice recordings using the built in microphone & the handset supports voice commands to activate features. A vibration alert function means the user can be made aware of an incoming call or message by a gentle vibration of their handset.
