In a nutshell it's a simple looking phone with a robust metallic feel, professional look & feature rich mobile. For people complaining about the camera, I can only say if you want good quality pictures & video get a real camera e.g. Sony cybershot.

This is perhaps the best phone in this price range. I bought it after a research of almost 6 months. Handling calls, SMS is very easy. It SYNC's nicely to Outlook via PC Suite. I have personally sent some 350 SMS's in less than an hour during festival times. Though Internet usage on mobile is a no no for me, I have tested emails on it. Good here too. Team Suite & Active Notes are superb apps to use. I have pepped it up with some apps like Expense Manager, Birthday Manager, Group Creator, Calculator, Light Me, Office Suite & it has become a wonderful friend in need type gizmo. Since it can play music in various formats, it has proved to be helpful during leisure times as well. Though the PC Suite application for Syncing needs some tweaking for speed boost, especially while converting & transferring music files from PC to mobile it doesn't remain a main issue. Nokia have already gone through many so called cons of this phone from a million user reviews & have updated this phone with their recent launch of E55 which is the same as E51 with 600MHz processor, slightly bigger screen at 2.36 & partial QW ER TY keyboard. Ah, my hands are already aching to put a hand on that device. Meanwhile E51 rocks!

I first bought a Motorola mobile. Returned it in 15 hours & then went in for the Nokia E51. A very very easy to use good mobile & my observations are as follows.

Pros.

- Perfect size & so easy to hold, carry, pocket & talk.
- All features that one could need in a mobile.
- Very good battery life (3 to 4 days).
- UI as always. Excellent.
- Clear voice & loud ringer.
- Feels solid & is correctly heavy.

Cons.

- Buttons could feel a little small for thick fingers.
- Small screen for video (though clear).
- Keys feedback not nice. Tick sound irritating.
- Fingerprint magnet. Specially the back.
- Weak camera. Only 2MP.
- Small memory card supplied with phone.

Though there are some disadvantages. The mobile is very good. I am happy with it & have sworn never to buy a Motorola!

Hi, this phone is fabulous guys it really rocked me. This is the first phone I'm perfectly satisfied with. As far as the features are concerned it is bundled with all such that you really need. 2MP Camera without flash is not up to the mark but for me camera doest matters because I already have Sony digicam which is un comparable. I purchased this phone only for features & I m totally satisfied with it. One of the best features I was searching for from the last 2 to 3 years was BLACKLIST & I got it now with this phone thanks Nokia guys. It came preinstalled in the 256 memory card that I got free with this Machine.

NOTE. DO NOT DELETE the APPLICATION YOU GET PRE INSTALLED IN the MEMORY CARD.

Because once you deleted it then you will have to purchase those applications for the next time installation & they are very expensive. As soon as you bring the phone DO NOT INSERT the MEMORY CARD IN the PHONE. First copy all the data to your computer via memory card reader (including hidden files) after that you can insert the card & install the applications. Whenever you decide to upgrade the memory card you can copy all the data to it & reinstall the applications to the new card. It includes the applications like.

- ADVANCED CALL MANAGER (can restrict call of any number you assign).
- SMS SPAM MANAGER (can restrict SMS of any number you assign).
- ADVANCED LOCK (can lock any application with code you assign).

If you've accidently deleted the application like me then no need to purchase it you can get CALL FILTER software free from net but it is not as good as pre installed one.
The features that attracted me were

- NOTIFICATION LIGHT on the top that notifies me of any unread SMS or missed calls which is very useful.
- CALL RECORDER which you can start by pressing a key on the top left side of the phone. It RECORDS CALLS WITHOUT BEEP sound that makes the features more wonderful.
- PROCESSING SPEED is mind blowing as compared to any other s60 or s40 versions.
- LOOKS are excellent it matches my class, don't go on dummies they will disappoint you as happened with me it was only my brother who helped me in making my decisions firm. Whole credit goes to him. Thanks BRO.

At last excellent phone with each & everything & of course excellent value for money. Just go & get this ultimate machine & get people know who & what you are.

Amazing phone. It's one of the best phones Nokia has made. Well the only thing that I think is that the camera can be a better & so should the recording be.

I had this phone sold very cheaply by O2 as part of my regular upgrade (low user tariff contract) I think it was about £20 so I expected it to be a pile of tut. However I LOVE IT! For a cheap phone it is possibly the best phone I've ever had. Shove a 4GB memory card inside & you've got a lovely MP3 player that's easy to use & slim. The WiFi means you don't have to pay a fortune for the web bolt on with your provider. I think it is fairly easy to use but recommend customising the settings so that you can jump to your favourite applications quickly. I have seen some bad reviews of this phone but these people have clearly not read the instructions & realised that the phone is fairly customisable &, being a Nokia, it is predominantly a phone & not just a gadget that happens to have a phone feature. Too many phones nowadays have totally lost their true identity which is a device to make calls. This is a phone with all the added gizmo's you want.

I got my one almost one month ago. Metal casing & quite sleek. When hold, the mass feel just good. Very easy to use. The most attractive character is the battery duration. It can last almost 3 to 4 days with normal call & message, which for me is 2 to 3 hours call & tens of message. It is not common for an intelligent phone. Still not find the downsides for now.

Cons.
- Video file player. Real player lags when playing mp4 video formats, I download core player.
- Picture viewer is poor, doesn't have the option for you to view only the photos in an album, can not view thumbnail for quick browsing. I change it to Resco Photo Viewer S60 3rd Edition.
- Camera very big disappointment, can't change hardware parts.

MUST READ THIS WHETHER YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH YOUR PHONE OR NOT. I have this phone I love it, is really good, I am always using the wireless Internet.

I have the solution to everyone's problems, I found that in different locations & different countries or cities, the factory supplier finds that some Nokia e51 are so hi tech if you look at it in a different perspective, that some models don't have what others don't, for example I compared my phone to my friends in Germany & there both the same except 1 of them didn't have WLAN access points & no realplayer, my one had everything but his didn't. You see there is a thing called a test model, it's the real phone has everything but some things aren't the same as the original. Test phones are everywhere no matter what shop you buy it, it could be a test phone. Test phones can be bought for real cheap at factories & people & shops sell them for full price, no matter what shop it is at least 10 out of 100 models will be test phones & that is an UNKNOWN fact. That is why some people from different places have problems with the keypad this & that because most of them don't turn out the same, personally my e51 has no problems at all. Thank you.

I bought this phone last month & it has been in Nokia Care Centre for almost 3 weeks.

Pros.
- Slim & good form factor.
- Lots of applications. I give 100 out of 100 for features.

Cons.
- The side buttons are a true let down. Either they are not sensitive or sunk in after some usage. This is the problem with my phone. Took 5 repairs to get it done. Another case, I will break this phone in front of Nokia Care Centre. This is why I gave 10 out of 100 for design.
- Software is laggy.
- The metallic smooth surface makes the phone very slippery.

One more thing, Nokia, listen. Your phone can be great. However, the staffs in your care centre need to be more profession.

I give you my feedback here.
- First visit was OK.
- Second visit was still OK.
- Third visit. Totally insulted.
- Comments from your staff to me, Unlucky you, you got a bad phone. If we can't repair it, count yourself unlucky.
- Forth visit, totally annoyed.
Comment from your staff to me, maybe you need to come back more often.

If there is going to be a fifth visit, I will smash the phone right before your care centre.

Nice phone let down by bad design. The edge & top buttons (power, volume, record) are absolutely pathetic. It lumps all of your sms messages & emails into the same inbox. It only allows a maximum of 999 messages to be stored, irrespective of the size of memory card installed.Deleting numerous sms messages or emails requires 6 key presses to mark each one!

The scheduler is a nightmare to use, unintuitive & requiring more key presses than my current Nokia 3110C.

OK, some of the above may be flaws in the Symbian operating system used on the phone, but some aren't, & although I bought this phone SIM free, I've gone back to my old 3110C, as it's so much easier to use.

The E51, fiddly to use but a good looker.

The biggest flaw is the design of the rear cover, the demo piece was OK & there was no clitch, clitch sound, the new piece that I got 2 days back, feels odd, while operating the keys, the rear cover presses & makes the sound, usability feel is very poor.

Trust me, I have the piece & the details & have addressed to Nokia, awaiting their response & support to make me feel good about it by exchanging.

The worst phone ever made. It has a thousand applications to use which are absolutely useless! I feel like screaming when writing a text message. You have to go through the whole phone book to get the name each time, press 3 buttons to send it. The two main buttons are very small. You end up pressing the ones underneath, nightmare. I was 20 minutes on the phone with O2 for them to let me change it. It was a wrong move to not use it straight away so I would send it back when I officially could. Now they are doing me a big favour changing it. Otherwise I would be stuck with this E51 for another 17 months, disaster!

- Small phone, so you can put in your pocket easy.
- Good sound (3D ring tones).
- Good voice (you can hear people very well).
- Plus price, very good price if you compare with N82 for example.

I have it a week & am pleased so far. I wanted it to replace a very tired 6310i & this seemed the best on offer. Like all new things it takes a bit of time to get used to. Only problem so far (& it's a big one for me) is that it is not Bluetooth compatible with my Garmin Nuvi 310 Sat nav. I was a bit surprised to find this out after purchase as I had presumed technology improved with time & as it has Bluetooth it would be compatible. Perhaps Garmin will update their software?

I like the WLAN, it's amazing how many unlocked networks there are out there.

Also I find the ring tone a bit too quiet even though it's at full volume & have missed the odd call.

The keys are larger than most of the modern phones which suits my fat fingers however I do find the clear key can be pressed in when trying to press the down key on the 4 way 'joggle' key.

The feature of a computer generated voice trying to say the name of the caller during the ringing is amusing but of marginal use.

Battery life seems satisfactory.

If you want to use it as an MP3 with more than 20 songs you need to also get the Micro SD card although they can be got for relatively little money but watch out as apparently not all makes of card will work.

On balance I am happy, I hope you find this helpful.

Switched from Motorola V3i after using it for almost 2 years. The E51 is not only ideal for business applications but serves as an interesting device for keeping in contact. Features are on par with many higher priced Smartphones, WLAN speed is just incredible for such a slim device. Super, slim line design on what is a cracking all rounder, this is a classy handset aimed primarily at the business end user, but with enough on board to suit all users.

Fiddly menu system takes a little getting used to, but is easy to use &, in reality, is no different going from Nokia to Sony Ericsson interfaces for instance.

Highly recommended, the camera could be better, but this is a small gripe. Budding photographers would probably go for a higher pixel count in any case & the 2MP on this model probably won't do much for that user group.

Looks the part too, neat casing which is a durable, high quality metal finish. Nice purchase, if only 3 had it!

I have the black model & I am extremely happy with it. I've not seen the bronze one in the flesh so I can't judge that. I saw the silver one & didn't like the look of it. The silver surround looks plasticy even though it is made of metal, it's described as white steel but it just looks shiny to me! Perhaps that's just what white steel means.

The phone feels pleasantly weighty in the hand because the case is mostly metal. It is remarkably slim although it is a little taller than most phones. You simply cannot fault the image of this phone, it oozes class & looks every bit the flagship enterprise device.

If anything it has too many features so I've been a bit stingy with the usability mark, it is often hard to find features even if you've used them before. The keypad has a really nice feel & a very nice white backlight. The display is very clear & pretty bright. However, it's not the largest display. The camera is not much cop but I've not really tried it outside & most mobile cameras are pretty weak in poor light.

So far it has proved very easy to get wireless Internet working (I don't have a data plan so I've not tried that yet) & it seems very easy to switch between access points, as the phone calls them. You need to set up one of these for every WLAN you want to use but once that's done you don't need to do it again. You can tell the phone to always ask when you access the Internet & it will offer you which ever access point is in range, very quick & easy once you figure out that you have to set up the access points. Web browsing isn't too easy on the small display but if you absolutely must you should download opera-mini which is better than the built in browser.

I've been able to access my Gmail account using Gmail's mobile email program. It's easy to install this & it seems pretty easy to install games from Nokia's selection. There are no games installed as standard & I haven't really made much effort to find more, I just downloaded a free one to see if it worked. I've also used Nokia's software (supplied on a CD/DVD) to sync the phone with Outlook, again this is very simple & just works without any fuss.

Overall I'd rate this phone very highly indeed. I've had it for a few days with no problems at all. I am not really a big user of mobiles so it's possible that I am easily pleased but I do buy a lot of gadgets & this is certainly has the feel of a very high quality device.

This is an excellent piece from Nokia.

The 4 dedicated keys for the menu, contacts, messaging & calendar. This makes getting to important features really fast. Large keys as compared to the previous Nokia 3230 I had. One feature that I really freaked out on is the small blinking white light indicating a new message has been received or you have a missed call, especially useful if your mobile phone is on silent. It uses the latest Symbian OS I.e. S60 3rd edition. & of course the price it has been tagged at is nothing as compared to the features it offers.

Can anyone confirm if the E51 does timed profiles? Most Nokia's do, but I was surprised that the 6120C does not, when the 6300, 6230 etc all do. It's quite an important feature for me. Also, can you use a voice recording as a ringtone?

Thanks in advance, Rick in London.

Great phone, everything you'd expect from a Nokia, simple menu's, good battery, clear screen, plus it's a great browser & supports BlackBerry email.

I've been using it for 5 weeks now & would definitely recommend it for business use.

PS. Uzi, check out the BlackBerry setup video for the E51 on you tube.

Had Nokia's all my life then got a Blackberry last year. Problems syncing via Bluetooth to laptop, to other mobiles etc. The E51 is a brilliant business phone with Blackberry push email. Great design, great functions, just perfect. Blackberry relegated to office draw now!

Awesome phone. I've had windows mobile device before this phone & I can tell symbian os is far superior. UI is fast. No lags, slim design (very elegant).the camera is not so important I barely use it. Ideal for business purposes, it's also light. Definitely worth the money.

This is a smart phone with decent looks. The range of features provided by this is quite extraordinary. But one must get acquainted well with this phone before using its features. The 2MP camera is ordinary, the photos appear to be a little bit greenish. Lack of flash & autofocus for the camera is a bit disappointing. The music player is good. Has an excellent display with 16 million colours. This phone is a finger print magnet. Overall this is a phone that is worth for its cost.

It's a very worthy mobile for your money. The manufacturer must reproduce the mobile with 3MP or 5MP camera.

This phone is a very balanced HiTech device. It has great communication abilities with a bunch of useful business applications. Good multimedia support & mediocre camera. Wi-Fi delivers you fast Internet browsing & video streaming from Youtube. I installed Gmail & new Google Maps with My location. Then I installed Fring to use Skype Out. Fast processor, a lot of RAM & ROM & price make this phone very attractive among other phones. Go for it.

This is an excellent mobile phone in every respect. It is a slim & intelligent Smartphone with fast features that are no overkill for an ordinary user. All the connection possibilities are a joy to use & they are fast! The VoIP works well with crisp & clear reception. The interface is user friendly & the screen is saturated. I love the fact that I only have to take one glance at the standby screen & immediately know about incoming calls, emails or text messages. This is an excellent mobile phone for anyone who wants fast connection possibilities without carrying along a brick.

Nokia E51 is basically a business phone. It looks strong durable & a handy device since it has a wireless LAN & many other features like adobe, flash player & world maps, radio & an MP3 player. We always look for too many things in the phone but rarely use all of them. But people who are looking for good battery life & long lasting phone along with bundle of features than I suggest you to go for the black E51 plus it has a steel body weighing only 100 grams & giving you up to 13 days stand by time & 4.4 hours talk time. I think it's a good buy. Go for it.
