It is a nice handset but it includes less features. Its design is very nice & also gives it a shine at sunlight. Also it is covered by metallic body but the display & sound quality of mobile is very low. The capacity of battery is like a sunlight.
So includes some more features & display after that it will more demanded than any other handset.

Well to be honest, This phone. It's not really that phone To show off with, Its more type of a BUSINESS phone, well to everyone who says the battery life isn't as good as it should be, why don't you take of the cover, & look at the back of the battery, On the battery if it says BL X5 then that battery is absolutely rubbish, you have to change that battery with the BL X6, get the BL X6 battery then am sure the battery life will be tonnes times better.

I've been through pretty much every N-Series phone from the very first until the 8910 which I ended up with the black limited edition, when the 8910i launched in black as standard I was gutted but stuck with it as it was a great phone.
When the 8800 launched I upgraded finally then again to the black sirocco which was supposedly a top end phone, frankly it was a disaster low volume or no volume repeatedly being fixed, spend half an hour in an area with poor signal & the battery died, at best it was barely useable for 1 day without recharge, I gave up, bit the bullet & bought the viewty constellation, all I can say is that if you want a good phone with some style & class the viewty leaves any of the normal Nokia range for dead.

I've had this phone for about 18 months & the battery life just gets worse over time. The battery dies within a 30 minute call after being fully charged. The keys become very stiff too. To be honest, everything is rubbish on the phone except the beautiful design. My Sony w890i is arriving soon with a 9.5 hours battery life, I can't wait.

This phone looks the part but I am on my 3rd now the ear speaker keeps going also the keys are to small & 0 is really hard to press also the silky smooth formula1 bearings in the slider sound like a train on mine so don't let them get near a builder or anyone who does a manual job I am now looking to get a 6500 slide but 8800 siroccos are getting really cheap now so I'll probably have to cough up as well as sell mine. I did go for this phone because it looks good but come on it would be mint if it had what a 6500 slide has as well.

Without doubt one of the Aston Martins of mobiles on the current market, however downsides are the minute digits on the key pad are not easy to operate even with an average sized thumb, unless you have a manicured thumb nail, it's always a struggle to switch auto key pad on & off in the given Nokia time, to avoid repeating the exercise two or three times, but the most disappointing usability issue is that Nokia has still not addressed the low battery life problem? Not recommended for business users, even after being a very well publicised user problem with the 880 & sirocco worldwide in all the relevant journals. The penny did still did not drop at the Nokia development dept.
Maybe a Sirocco limited edition will cure the problem? or has the low battery life killed the brand name off already, time waits for no man!

I am only concerned with the battery, it just dies with in couple of hours. No wonder thy provide you with an extra battery along with the set. It makes sense because you need to carry the phone n the battery along to wherever you go!
Well the design part is just awesome. The camera & screen are ordinary & outdated for sure!
But I guess there is a price you pay for GOOD looking phones. I did. Sadly! I just want the battery life to be improved immensely.

Hello, So far I've had Nokia N70, N72, 6680, 6670 & 3310 ( I loved it), Samsung E 730 & Motorola V3. I got me a Nokia 8800 Sirocco Black. I totally fell in love with it. I have an iPod so I really don't need a player & a DSLR camera. It's not the phone for the people who want to have everything in their phone, even though they would never use it. I have had my 8800 for just a week, so I can't tell you, about long term use. But so far it's the greatest phone, I've ever had.

Hey I would first say to all you people out there who never owned any of the 8 series phones stop writing rubbish about the phones.
Now coming to the 8800 series I guess there was no phone better looking than the 8800 at that time, yes it did have a battery bits up, OK & now what, the 8800 is out the 8600 Luna as well but I would still say that the 8800 is rocking. The bat is good. The looks & the whole thing, so if you think to get one, I would say go.

Firstly I don't know why so many people bad mouth this phone. I got this phone a little over 6 months ago & absolutely know for sure I have made the right choice. So what if this phone hasn't got a 10MP camera, MP3 player or anything else you get from those building bricks you find these days like the Sony Ericsson k800i. If you buy this phone you should understand that it isn't designed to have the best features, its designed to look classy, sleek & business like & it is all 3 of these things.

A phone should make phone calls. This phone does not pick up signal anywhere in the world correctly & drops its battery as if it were not charged. It's a phone I do not recommend unless you get it for free like I did. If you paid for it I am sorry.

Many people have posted negative reviews on the basis of the phone being relatively basic or technically lacking. But that is not what the handset is about. If you want technology, buy an N-series. If you want an 8800 at a fraction of the price then go ahead & buy that 6233 in Argos. But if you want bargain basement prices, then you better be prepared for bargain basement looks too.
The modern day 8-series have always been about Style over Functionality, art over tech, form over function as it were. Some may think that the styling is not worth the price but their aversion to purchasing it only helps to reinforce the range's indirect selling point of exclusivity for those who do. Yes yes, cue needless argument from someone now regarding social aspirations, overcompensation & other associated self indulgent pop-psychology flatulence, but for me, the exclusivity (whilst important) comes second to the styling of a phone itself. I for one have tried to talk myself into buying a Vertu on numerous occasions but never succeeded. As I am all too painfully aware that I don't actually like the design of any of their range.
So, after owning an 8910i & 8800, I felt buying a Sirocco was the next step logical step. I initially bought a Black one, but grew tired of it not standing out enough from the hoards of plebish black sliders out there (D900, E900 etc) & decided to buy & fit the White/Silver housing instead.
Whilst the Sirocco is a sure improvement over the standard 8800 in terms of build quality & general feel, stylistically - I can't help but think the 8800 actually looked better. The Sirocco body may only be barely thicker than the 88 but it IS noticeable, & the curved indent on the front is somewhat vulgar compared with the elegance of the 8800's front panel.
Despite preferring the sharper elegance of the 8800, the Sirocco does have its stylistic merits in the form of a better looking Keypad & superior colour-coding on the silver models.
However, quite ironically - my decision to move from my 8800 onto the Sirocco was a more objective one than my decision to buy a model in the 8000-range in the first place. The build quality, robustness & technical improvements keep me on the Sirocco & away from the 8800 despite my reservations about its supposedly 'upgraded' looks.

The phone itself is of good quality & the looks are just brilliant, shows class. My only concern is the marks that are left after using the phone finger prints etc. Nokia should have thought about that!

This phone is great! I've used all of the 8800s made by Nokia. Like the first 8800, 8800special edition, 8800 sirocco in blk, silver & 18k gold. They are all great phones. But I guess ppl like the sirocco more cuz it looks nicer & of course costs more & want to show off, but hey no1 said that that was a crime. But from my experiences these phone have never given me any troubles. I mean, so what if the battery life is poor? That why there are 2 batteries included. This phone is actually almost perfection. Best out of the sirocco would be the blk or the gold one. The silver one has 'chunky slider'. If any1 is interested in the gold sirocco it's on sale for 1100USD. I have the gold one at the moment. It's great. No troubles yet.

I believe that this phone is the bee's knees! Get it? I have both the Nokia 8800 & the sirocco & I think Nokia have done a fantastic job on both these products.
I don't understand why people are giving these phones negative reviews, I really don't!
If you buy this phone you will definitely not be disappointed, I am not!
People in this day & age have negative mentally. If these phones are 'rubbish' then what are classed as good?
Both phones are brilliant!

ONLY the KEY FEATURE FOR IT IS STAINLESS STEEL WHICH HAS GLOSSY COATED AGAINIST the SCRACTHES. ANOTHER PERFECT PRODUCT LAUNCH FROM Nokia (NOW BELONGS TO SIEMENS) SAYING THIS IS the MOBILE PHONE EVERY ONE WANTS TO HAVE OR SHOULD TO HAVE. For a phone to be a phone it should do a job. My battery life lasts 3 hours & dies - completely useless. The speaker volume is pretty rubbish & some features on the sirocco are missing! Also has known software issues which Nokia know about - my software has been reinstalled 3 times & still it doesn't work as it should.

I've had the sirocco for about 4 days now. First 2 days it worked great. It's seemed to have developed a problem. When I put the phone on the desktop charger fow a few hours, it indicates that it's charging but when you take the phone off the charger I've only got one battery bar & I get a low battery alert.
Surely this is a one off but the 8800 had similar problems. Apart from this the phone is a genius!

The video camera is a pile of dodo, music player is not very loud, everything else. Top class! My wife has the old 8800 & even though the cam is 0.5 mega pixel the video is a mile better, this has gutted me but ill stick with the sirocco because it has a very low SAR level only 36, but if you want a class video phone that's easy to use go for the Nokia 6131 it's the bizz.

I have been using this phone for over two months now & I am very happy with it so far. Having used probably most phones on the market today I am very critical of the phones I use, so having used the previous 8800 was happy that Nokia had made the necessary improvements namely the camera & battery life to the new edition. However shouldn't Nokia have done the first phone this way? Money issues perhaps?! Downsides to this phone include no 3G technology, no flash, screen resolution is still poor considering.
Even so I get the feeling that those attracted to this phone & the edition before it are the type that likes to buy a Ferrari, not to drive it but to be seen in it!

Hi all,
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I am thoroughly disappointed by this phone. (I have the black Sirocco)
Sure, the exterior is great, nice metal case etc etc. The slide mechanism is sound, & feels good quality, but then you take a look at the screen & navigate through the menus.
I am sorry, but this phone is out of date. It has the same dated menu as other mid-range Nokia phones, but basically with a few features removed.
I guess it has its place in the market, whatever that is, but it's not for me. For such a styli exterior, I would have just expected more on the inside.
Sorry to be negative, just voicing my opinion :)

Absolutely brilliant bit of design, it feels like your actually holding a decent bit of kit in your hand, compared to other phones this is quality. The only thing which lets it down would be the lack of 3G technology, but then for people who want to use a phone as a phone than it doesn't matter. Also if you have large hands the keys can be a bit small but you put that to one side because of the quality design & build. In other words this phone is like an Aston Martin of the phone world.

I had the 8800, & have just moved up to the Black Sirocco. It's not about the features, it's all about having the best looking phone on the market. The battery is better than the old one, but still doesn't last that long under heavy use. The camera is much better & there are various features that make spending the extra worth it. EBay is the way to buy your Sirocco though. I paid £400.

I have the 8800 already & what I want to know is how this new phone compares to mine from the editors review. Does it have improved battery life? Does it have a better camera? Have they fixed the horrible keyboard? Quoting the manufacturer's blurb doesn't help anyone, I can tell you for starters that if it's anything like the 8800 original, the battery life is nowhere near 144 hours.

If this & the original 8800 silver had come out at the same time, the silver would have been the better phone. It has improved software (badly needed) but is still quite limited software, Nokia's were doing what this can do three years ago. It's a phone for looks alone really but it is stunning.

Nice phone, but it's my third one now as there is too much interference when speaking to people.

Just so people know, I think there is a software problem on the 8800 Sirocco. If you go to 'Email' in the 'Messaging' menu, select it & look at the options....then after turning the phone 'OFF', next time you switch the phone 'ON' the 'Email' function has disappeared from the menu! This is not just on one handset, as I returned the first one I had & the second handset had exactly the same thing happen....I also know of the same thing happening on a friends 8800 Sirocco.

This phone is good, the design is nice & sleek. All I can say really, is that it is just a much modded version of the 8800.
