Loved this phone at first. Looked the bizz but shortly after the 'O' key wouldn't press in so I called Virgin & got a replacement. Everything great but then after a couple of weeks my calls out would disconnect for no reason & half way thru texting it would freeze & switch off. To switch it back on I'd have to disconnect the battery & it was hit or miss if it would actually switch on again. Now it switches itself off quite frequently throughout the day. I've called Virgin again & they've told me that it's a common fault with this phone & asked me to do a service download from the Nokia website, which I did but still no joy. I asked for a non Nokia handset but they won't replace it, only exchange it for another 6700 even though it's not fit for purpose. I've 6 months left on my contract & can't afford to buy out of my contract. Looks like I'll have to put up or shut up. It's put me off getting another Nokia in the future & I won't be staying with Virgin either.

Phone looks nice & feels solid.

I got this phone on O2 11 weeks ago & no problems until today, when half way through a call it switched itself off.

Now, whenever I try to make a call it crashes. Spoke to O2 & it has to go for repair instead of a straight swap.

Texting takes a while to get use to because of the design of the buttons. Screen is clear & camera is OK quality. Sadly, after only 11 weeks it's broken, so I now have little confidence in this phone.

I have now had the phone for less than two months & it had already stopped working. I'd left it in my room, working fine when I had left, I come back 2 hours later & it wouldn't even turn on. Don't get me wrong it is a good phone with brilliant features but it's just too fragile. If you're looking for a phone which is reliable then don't go for this one. Every phone has good sides & bad but for me it was a waste of time. I have lied Nokia's from the start & always found them very reliable, so hopefully I will be looking to go for another Nokia. Just not this one. Also after 2 weeks of having the phone I found that one side of the key pad was lower than the other & this caused problems while I was trying to text which was again very annoying. Another problem that I had was the back of the phone would slip off while picking it up or placing it somewhere, I think this was because you are easily able to slide it off. I hope what I have written is useful & help you determine whether to get the 6700 Classic or not.

I've had this phone for about a week now & it's good but there are some problems. If you are a fast texter like me, this phone can get very annoying, the keys aren't separated so it can become quite hard. & also, my hands are only slightly bigger than average, & it becomes achy easily & they start to pain, I think it's because of the size & shape of the phone but that could just be my hands maybe. Also, another annoying thing is that I can barely hear the phone vibrate when it's in my pocket, this is a common problem with new Nokia's, they all seem to be doing this & I don't know why! Also, if I put the alarm on my silent, the alarm won't make any noise either, it would just vibrate so I keep waking up late as I usually have my phone on silent rather than general, & also if you switch the phone off the alarm won't work either which kind of sucks. The camera is good I guess but it just seems weird, doesn't really look 5MP but it is great quality. Also, if you're playing music & you receive a text, the music will stop playing for like 10 seconds & then suddenly start again which is annoying.

Don't get me wrong this is a great phone, but they could have improved on these simple little things which even the old Nokia's don't have. I still think it's worth getting, I was just listing out the bad things to help you, still a great phone overall.

I just got this phone & I love it, it's very similar to my previous 5310.

One bad point however. You can't use normal headphones for your music, as the plug is a USB Nokia one! So 2 options are available, buy an adaptor (if I find one ) or get expensive Nokia headphones!

I upgraded from my beloved 6300 which was also stainless steel but in this instance I have the black 6700 as I am on Orange & it's all they do. The chrome ones are nice but any phone will attract greasy fingerprints in time. I like all the features of this phone & it has a lot of functions including GPS etc. I don't get lost at sea very much but it's probably useful. It has a solid heavy expensive feel to it so don't drop it on your toe! No software problems or gripes so far. I may be seen as easy to please but there is one thing that makes me bow at the feet of the Nokia software guys. After ten years of begging & pleading they finally cracked it. When you send a text it automatically goes back to the home screen, Hallelujah. It may not sound like much to some people but I have had around 30 different phones over the last 18 years & this was my biggest gripe with Nokia. On older models after the text has sent it stayed on the screen until you pressed hang up or exit messages 3 times. Camera is nice & flash is OK for short range. It has plenty of media apps & organiser functions. I can't really fault it. A quality item indeed.

The big deal that mattered to me on this phone is the fact of NO video call ability!

Other than that it's like a 3600 Slide. Except for a steel casing which gives it a tough feel, 5mg pixel camera & HSDPA download speed.

I went back to my 3600 as it's bigger & easier to use the keys on.

I didn't get headphones & the charger is via a mini USB type of cable.

It's a small phone, so avoid if you fingers of size.

I have had this phone for 2 days. I did not want a touch screen, nor a Nokia as I am not their biggest fan, that was until the guy in the shop brought out the Nokia 6700 to show me. I fell in love with it straight away. Looks sleek, feels solid in your hand & it has a good weight behind it. The colours are vibrant & the camera is decent. It does attract finger prints but I can live with that (not anymore of a nightmare than touch screens do) It has took a lot for me to drag myself away from Sony Ericsson but I am glad I made the move. Even my husband loves it! If your looking for a phone that is a good alternative to all the touch screens out there then this is your answer. By the way girls, it has a cute fishy cartoon like screen saver that looks like Nemo!

I was waiting for the 6700 to arrive as an upgrade on my O2 contract. I am not disappointed at all.

I was looking to go back to a relatively simple design with key functionality & ease of use after having the designer phones the past couple of years.

The 6700 give me everything I want from the phone & a huge bonus with the camera & video application, absolute top quality, the images are superb. This is from a person that if he wants to take pictures he will use his camera.

The 6700 also has that little bit of class about it & I love the fact at last a phone with a big of weight to it.

Simple to use & excellent quality of calls & loud enough that you don't those calls you want to take.

Well done Nokia, you have restored my faith from all those light weight phones that seem to have been the fashion over the past 18 months.

Just received this phone on T Mobile contract a few weeks ago & had 2 replacements & due for a third. On the first phone the keypad started to peel off, got a replacement & the screen was faulty, then 1 week into that & I have had to organize another replacement due to another faulty screen. Do these phones go to get repaired then sent back out to customers? Don't get me wrong it's a smart phone & nice to look at, the only real problem I have with the design is that when texting the bottom 3 buttons seem to close together & to the bottom of the phone, which makes texting awkward if like me you don't have toothpicks for fingers & seem to hit the hash & star buttons when texting, which becomes really frustrating after a while.

On my 3rd phone in two weeks.

1st arrived & had a damaged screen so was replaced two days later. After using the replacement for 3 days Bluetooth stopped working & wouldn't switch on. After swapping the SIM card into another phone & vice versa it was proved that the phone was faulty so onto Orange again & another phone shipped out.

Received 3rd phone & now not getting any voice mail notifications. If someone rings & doesn't leave a message it displays the missed call. If they leave a message I get nothing, no missed call or answer message or the spool sign.

I've contacted Orange who shipped another SIM card & still the same problem. They have now told me that it's a problem with my phone number & others will have the same problem, which is being worked on. I tried my SIM card in my 6301 & it's the same on that phone so it could well be my phone number.

Orange said that they don't know when it will be fixed. Also the phone is a fair bit heavier than the 6301. Wish I'd never bothered changing. Only plus point is its black & not the dreadful SHINY silver that O2 have been lumbered with.

Excellent phone, with all the bells & whistles you could ask (oh, except Wi-Fi). However, the handset crashed after 4 days, & refused to restart. Orange supplied a replacement which lasted 11 days, then did the same again. The next replacement lasted one hour. In each case I was attempting to update the home screen.

Yes, I suppose it could have been a virus (I had downloaded Nokia maps, via a PC). But three identical failures on three different handsets in a fortnight isn't acceptable, & I have reverted to my previous 6301 handset (still using the SIM card I was using in the 6700, with no negative effects).

I love this phone it is so cute! I love the games on it because it has the Sims 3 on it & Tetris & Minesweeper. Maybe I am being a bit too girly but I love the aquarium theme with all the fish swimming round on my screen!

Overall it is a really good phone & a really good camera, I haven't been able to check out all of the features yet but I am sure I am in for more nice surprises!

It seems a durable phone, Not flimsy, Quite solid.

Just got this phone today, on T mobile, in silver, after extensive research. Yes, OK. The fingerprints, but so what, I have lots of chrome kitchen appliances & they smear up every day, but you live with it!

I use my phone a lot for calling & texting, throw in a bit of calculator, converter & camera use & that's about it. So I wanted something simple, straight forward & reliable & I think I've found it. Have had a 6300 (loved it) & a 6500 (great, but a little too thin) so I am a fan of the 6 series.

First impressions. It's great, quick, easy & packed full of stuff that I may or may not use but it' nice to have.

Design loses 5% as I feel some space is wasted on the front with a good 6 or 7mm of Operator Logo black space.

Usability loses 10% as I am finding locking the keypad to take a few goes before it actually happens, & the tap feature to view the clock, a feature I was excited about, is a little erratic too, I don't know, maybe I am doing it wrong but finding it not as easy as made out.

I've always thought that if I want music, I'll put my iPod on, if I want pictures, I've got a great digital camera. But if I want to make a call & send a text, I want something that does this job as easily as the above do theirs. & this phone is it.

Overall, a fantastic no nonsense phone for grown ups.

Stunning design, Incredible build quality hence slightly heavier at 116g. Very low SAR rating. Silver or black. Worthy successor to the 6300.

Silver (Steel) out in the shops on THREE network as of yesterday. Expect in all the main competitors early July 2009.

If you have a 6300, don't want touch screen, this is the upgrade you have finally been waiting for :).
