I still have 6 months to run of an 18 months contract & quite frankly I do think it is a waste of time. I did use it as I would have used a Filofax & after a few months it crashed losing all information, I then had to send it away for repairs.

The signal is not at all good. Overall I would say it is not the best Nokia I have owned.

I would say to anyone who is considering buying this phone, don't bother.

This phone looks quite good & I love the blue & black colour but the actual phone isn't very good. Firstly it doesn't catch signals very well & secondly the battery power is useless. I would recommend the LG KS360 its much better & totally worth the money.

I have had this phone for 6 months, 2 months of which it has spent being repaired. Same fault each time, they can hear me but I can't hear them. After 3rd repair it seems like they had fixed the problem but now the speaker is very crackly & hard to hear even on full volume. Compared with old Nokia the signal reception is rubbish, the light does not stay on long enough & digits are too small. Carphone warehouse say it is Nokia's policy that the phone has to be repaired 4 times before they will replace it, can't wait for it to go wrong again to get rid it.

Thought I could check the reviews. It's getting loads saying great & loads saying it's bad. I thought it weird to get bad reviews considering how good the 6600 slide has been to me.

So I checked this review out. What are you all on about? The phone is really good. It's not perfect but it's the best phone I have ever used.

I found the battery to be great (Bluetooth off, 3GP off).

The camera is very good too.

My main moan is it's a bit heavy, but I love how small it is.

I am going to ignore the bad comments on the 6600i slide because I feel a lot of people don't have a clue what they are talking about & are technically challenged.

I can imagine some come with faults, what doesn't these days!

Well that's my bit feel free to moan at me all you want.

Jamie.

On my second 6600s, the first had hazy camera, can't compare to a friend's 6500s with Carl Zeiss lens. Made in Hungary, had to return it for a replacement, made in China. The keys are small but you kind of get used to it. Fingerprints magnet! In my third week so far yet to experience the signal issues. Does not recognise 3GP files though.

Well, where do I start. Possibly the worst Nokia ever. Had the phone 6 months & it started randomly turning itself off. So I missed a lot of important phone calls & deliveries as I could not be reached. Then there is the signal or LACK of it! I would be around other mates or family with their phones & it would have very little or no signal compared to them. Switching the phone off & then on again, SOMETIMES cured this, almost if it was rebooting itself. The backlight is lit for way too short a time. Not very useful. The slide mechanism gets easily full of dust from your pocket etc & makes the operation very stiff. The main menu button kept playing up, so you would want to send a text but it wouldn't accept the command to do so. I received a replacement, but this was defective from new, I could hear the person who called me but they couldn't hear me. I've given up on it, I have 9 months left on my contract & don't want another 6600 slide, so am using a 4yr old basic Nokia that doesn't switch itself off & has reliable signal. AVOID the 6600 SLIDE!

This is a basic phone which looks nice. It has a tiny pin which the charger plugs into. This pin snapped off inside my charger (which I didn't notice until the next time I tried to charge my phone) & my network provider said this was my fault which means they won't replace it & I need to pay for the repair & a new charger! For that reason alone I would steer clear of this phone. It's too easily broken!

Nice looking phone, works fine for me. The volume is a bit quiet even on full. Handbook not very useful & had to ring up the provider O2 to ask how to increase volume (use the top of the ring around nav key while in call to increase volume.) My main problem is that the inner screen has cracked after 6 months. There is no damage to the outer screen & as far as I know I haven't been rough with it so that's disappointing, other reviews around the Internet suggest this is a common problem.

Don't buy this phone. Not good reception. Really bad visibility. You can't use this phone during daylight unless you have incredible vision! Nice design otherwise. Nice organic, slim feel. User functions are fine. Too bad about the essential elements of reception & vision. I am amazed that a manufacturer like Nokia (who incidentally designed my favourite mobile phone), went into production with such fundamental problems.

AVOID THIS PHONE! Three supplied this as a replacement to a faulty 6500 slide which developed software problems after 1 year. The 6600 slide is far worse. The keypad backlight was intermittent, I used to lose the signal but if switched off then on again would appear to have full signal. I also noticed that the phone used to get really hot while in use. After 3 months the screen just went black & I could not reboot, although I could vaguely see the Nokia logo on the screen. I took it back to the Three shop who sent it to the repair & test centre. They will not replace it as they say there is liquid damage to the circuit board! I have never had this phone near liquid or moisture & have never had the phone open since its purchase. I notice that other people have had similar problems with the phone switching itself off & also not being able to reboot. It has now put me off buying another Nokia phone! DON'T BUY A Nokia 6500 SLIDE OR 6600 SLIDE.

Hi folks, got this phone January 2009 direct from 3. Phone looks & feels great, really small & fits anywhere. My main complaint is the same as most people, the BACKLIGHT TIME OUT! Absolute waste of time? Try reading a text & off it goes!

I have checked all settings etc & web sites, it appears it is factory set time, what a silly over sight! You have to slide screen to reactivate light.

Other odd problem, LOSS OF SIGNAL, sometimes I get full strength then it drops off & loses network completely. I would say it is because phone is so small it does not receive well? On saying that I wanted a small easy to use phone & it is just that! Easy to use & tons of features even I do not use? !

If you want small & light (half a joke there) then yes go for it! I will run mine for now & see what comes up in the future!

Hope review helps. Martin.

I was SOLD this phone two weeks ago. It looks pretty boring & the battery life is awful too. & where is the loudspeaker option for listening to the radio? That was never the problem with even the most basic Nokia phones! Hate the ugly double corded headphone & jack that comes with it. It has so many wires hanging from a tiny phone to listen to one radio. & why won't my home wifi make the Internet connection start? Which means I can't use any web features now :(. Please tell me if I paid so much for nothing (Sony W595 came at lower price)?

- Signal problem. I used to use other Nokia they did lot good signal. Signal drops so quick.

- When you touch the phone you leave spot on the phone.

- Battery life is not very good.

By far in a way the worst phone I have ever had. Feels flimsy when you slide it open, battery life is a joke. The signal for some reason is nonexistent in places I get full signal with my 3 year old Sony Ericsson W810i (a far superior phone in every way). The texting is just plain awkward & the keys are so small & cramped at the bottom of the phone that my thumb aches after writing a message, oh & I switched the predictive text off because it's just not intuitive whatsoever. Looked nice & sleek when I opened the box & after 5 days it was back looking nice & sleek in its box & being shipped back from whence it came. Avoid this phone like the plague!

I have had the phone for a month & upgraded from 6500 Slide. I honestly think the 6500 Slide is a better phone overall. The 6600 Slide is smaller & lighter & much nicer to hold & use, but it tends to have a slight lag when moving around in menus or contacts. The 3.2 MP camera is not as good as the 3.2 mp Carl Zeiss camera on the 6500. I took some fantastic photos on holiday & I honestly can say that the pictures were better than even the N95 8GB I had for a short time (hated that phone)!

Both phones have some flaws & it's a matter of overall preference but the 6600 Slide is still a great Nokia phone.

I bought this phone SIM free in Singapore in September. Used it there on single prepay. Worked perfectly. On return to UK went on Vodafone SIM only monthly plan. Full signal & have had no trouble with it. Great screen, clear & bright, very nice slide, smooth action. Manual says call volume increased & decreased by scroll key left & right. This is wrong, its scroll key up & down. Ringtone volume a little low, but I just uploaded my ringtone onto laptop & used Nero wave editor to ramp up the volume. To stop scratches & fingerprint smudges I purchased an Invisible shield total body protector. A great phone, used every day at work in a dusty atmosphere. Recommended.

Good simple phone BUT it gets a rubbish signal everywhere, I have always had Nokia's & been on t mobile & never had a problem, with the 6600 I couldn't get a signal in my house.

Agree backlight is short.

I also couldn't get it to just vibrate for a text & the vibrate is the weakest vibrate ever! I couldn't feel it at all.

Shame Nokia have messed up with a nice simple phone, now I have to get the brick of an N95.

I sent mine back, too many flaws but the POOR signal was too much of a fault to be overlooked.

Had this phone for 3 days before I returned it. When you first take it out of the box it looks slick & has a great weight & feel to it. The 6600 Slide is compact, shiny & curvy. You'll need to watch out for fingerprints as this phone is probably the worse I have seen for smudges & fingerprints.

Function wise there is not a lot of difference between this & the 6500 slide apart from the 6600 slide having a superior screen.

My main issues with this phone apart from it being a fingerprint magnet are as follows & I have found out that these are common problems & not just me being picky.

- Speaker makes a pooping sound when set to ring & vibrate.
- Backlight has no time settings.
- Backlight only remains on for a few seconds.
- Keypad lights & sensors are intermittent.
- Fingerprint magnet (Worse I have seen on a phone).
- No volume toggle.

I was really looking forward to getting this phone & wanted to like this but alas it had to go back.
