I received my 6600 & within 12 hours I was returning it as it kept freezing when I was trying to open text messages.
That said I have ordered a replacement & fingers crossed I will see how this one performs, if it has the same problem then I will not re order it.
What people are saying about the voice quality is rubbish, all you have to do is activate the voice clarity, it's that simple!

This phone does everything that Nokia claims it does & in that respect this is a great quality, mid range phone. If you want a fantastic phone then you should go ahead & pay fantastic prices.
Cheap Price & Low range phone e.g. Nokia 1208.
Medium Price & Mid range phone e.g. Nokia 6600 fold.
High Price & Top top range phone e.g. Nokia n97
Take a look at its specifications before you buy it, don't buy it & then complain about the quality of the camera because the specs clearly state that its 2 mega pixels so Nokia themselves are showing they don't expect miraculous picture quality from the phone.
I don't know why some reviewers were expecting to take fantastic photos from a 2 mega pixel camera that's the size pea, I would like to think most people would expect only simple photos from such a small lens, it should be obvious to most.
& if your taking your Nokia 6600 fold back, to get 'a real phone', real phones are for taking good photos are they? Oh, I thought real phones were used for making phone calls, not taking photographs, I thought the camera was invented for that purpose :S.
For people like me who just need a simple camera to take basic photos so they can remember points in their life or upload pictures to social network sites etc then this camera is perfect for that need.
If you want to take good quality photos then a 10 megapixel camera is going to cost you less than this phone on pay as you go or contract. Stop moaning about this phones camera when it's not even a main selling point of this phone! Get one of the other Nokia phones that boasts top photography brands such as karl zeiss etc if you want stunning photos.
Also, the people who have commented negatively on trivial points are either less competent with technology than most, or are simply too lazy to read an instruction manual, for instance the call volume is adjustable & Nokia phones offer a more than adequate call volume.
As I have said before, this phone does everything that the specification states, so if you read the specification pages on sites, such as the Nokia website, & you like how the phone sounds then go out & buy it because you will love it. But it is not a music phone, so don't complain about low memory, & it is not designed as a major camera phone so don't be upset or annoyed at your phone when it doesn't produce any award winning photography :).

Yes, I agree, the design is excellent. But voice quality is terrible. You can hardly hear people who call you. Mine is going back! Not recommended!

I think the design of the phone is superb. It looks much better than its photos. So small, & has everything I want in a phone, like 3G, camera etc. I change my phone very often, like every 6 months. But I will keep this one at least for 2 years. Don't forget to make voice clarity active, or else you will not be satisfied with the voice you hear, whom you are speaking too. Another point, if you think the phone is not ringing loud enough, just change the settings of the equaliser. I did, bravo Nokia.

I too am having the same problem with the quality of voice calls. I am on my third 6600 fold & they all have the same poor quality. I can hardly hear what anyone is saying & they can hardly hear me. I am very impressed with lots of the other features but at the end of the day it's a phone, & if that's the worst feature then what's the point. I am very disappointed. So unfortunately difference. Nokia & O2 have both said that no one else has raised this before.

Very sleek phone but phone does not open when tapped or when you want to see the time it says gentle tap but still doesn't come to life I am on my second replacement ready for the third as for the earpiece quality not clear at all a bit disappointing but like the look of the phone cause its one of its own.

I think it is about time that Nokia actually bought out a decent flip phone & this delivers on all fronts.
Previously I have had to go to the USA to get the N76 (wasn't available in the UK at the time), & although I love the new 6600, the N76 if it was smaller would win on the usability scale.
Saying that, once I had got my head round using the 6600 think that it is just what Nokia needed to keep a place in the flip phone market. I have no other brands to compare it to, as am just a Nokia user (& although their phones have been lacking in the style market for a while) & am faithful to the brand.
The only real issue at the moment is the same as everyone else, the opening button seems to only work when it wants to, which is really annoying when trying to answer a phone with an installed ring tone, as they don't seem to ring for very long & I have lost a few calls because of this, & also, if you place the phone on a surface a little hard, it opens its self (& I don't mean drop it from any great height either! )
Also the tones that I have installed (had them for 5 years now) seem tinny in sound clarity. I have had to turn the volume on them down just to get them to sound OK which mean that at times I don't hear them. They have worked fine on all previous phones & I change my phone every year?
The only other very small niggles are that the message screen could be bigger, writing a text in the small area & the menu across the bottom, to allow to insert is not really needed, as this could easily have been done off a key if required. It takes away something, without really adding any useful function IMO seems they have opted for style over functionality on this one & as said by someone else, would be easier if the volume was on the side of the phone like previous models but once set not really a problem.
Menu navigation is virtually the same as all other Nokia, & for this I am grateful, one of the reasons for being faithful to Nokia is knowing how & where to find things.
The actual look of the phone is fantastic, & I wanted one so much was actually willing to wait for the release for over a month & being a woman, this was particularly hard for me to do. Also getting a black one was a real problem, & as I couldn't wait any longer, went for the purple.
I hope that the silver bits will stay intact, unlike my N76 though, & that the phone stays looking as new for more than the 6 months of my previous flip phone.
I have only had it for 3 to 4 days so far, so have not actually had chance to use all the software in it, but if past Nokia's are anything to go by, I am sure it will work well.

I like flip phones & have had them since 2001. As few manufacturers make them, the N660 seemed like the obvious upgrade to my LG Chocolate Flip phone. Prior to that I had 2 Samsungs so as Nokia is the only flip phone now on the market I had to have it.
In terms of software, Nokia Maps is great, & a big selling point but a shame the N660 doesn't have GPS built in like the N95, requiring a Bluetooth add on.
I also love the fact it synchronises with my Outlook calendar.
BUT, everything else is severely lacking. This is the first flip phone I've had that doesn't have a volume switch on the side meaning you have to take the phone away from your ear to set a volume level using the keypad. But that's just one annoyance, as the audio quality from the ear piece is terrible. I really struggle to hear people, & if you are in the street forget it, there is just no clarity. Also people on the other end say my voice is so sharp on this phone their ears bleed, so the mouth piece isn't great quality either.
Sending a text message is overcomplicated. Switching between predictive text requires going into a menu! What is that about? Also, you can't select a number of contacts to send a message to, you have to select a contact, then press up, then press select, then scroll down to contacts, then search, then select, then click up & repeat.
It's also really easy to accidentally send a blank message. Did anyone at Nokia do any product testing here?
On the Three website it claims the N660 is compatible with Live Messenger. It's not.
The fold doesn't glide open as the adverts suggest. If you press the release button, half the time the fold just opens like you'd expect a flip phone to open, & the rest of the time Open fold manually is displayed on the front screen. What is the point of having an opening button that doesn't open the phone all the time every time? Really REALLY annoying, as if you get to a ringing phone & press the release button to open it, half the time you need to then open it manually, which isn't easy as there is no gap to get your thumb in to open the fold, presumably because it has a release button. Quite why the release button doesn't always work is a mystery. This is the second N660 I've had because I figured the first one was defective. As this one is identical I presume it's a feature. They've programmed in the open manually message for a reason.
The battery life is rubbish. 2 hours talk time if you are lucky. There is no battery warning, it just goes dead. Great. Well planned Nokia!
It also drops calls for no apparent reason. It's not network coverage, as my LG still works fine.
Overall, this is a disappointing phone, & I am about to send it back. The intermittent flip release is just the last straw. It's a shame as Nokia Maps is really good, but whether I could bear another Nokia after this experience is questionable.

My super sleek titanium mauve finish attracts immediate attention of anyone who spots it. Then a double tap on the outer casing reveals an analogue (or digital) clock in the hidden OLED external display. Next depress the concealed side button & the electromagnetic catch releases the clamshell opening system. This exposes the dark purple keyboard & a really good looking interior. All this time the phone feels reassuringly solid & sits snugly in the palm of one hand & is one of those rare handsets that can be used by those with only one hand free! There is plenty of metal & quality engineering & you will drool over the design, though this is arguably a girly phone due to its super slim size & colour. The fella's may go for the black one.
Quibbles are minor unless you want a really high spec phone that will be significantly harder to use. Larger (male? ) fingers will often miss the centre button in the navigation pad & activate a side button instead but more delicate female fingers will not notice this. You can only assign 7 speed dial numbers & annoyingly most of you will not need the video facility that you cannot change on button 2. The supplied pouch is fine for longer-term storage of the phone, but actually getting it in or out is too major an operation to make the pouch suitable for everyday use. However the supplied earphones & remote switch lead are excellent with both the FM radio & music players (MP3 et al) sounding excellent. It also works well as a hands-free kit & the headphones are really comfortable with three different sized ear pads.
Normal phone use is fine so far though I had to change the phone settings to make it accept calls when I open the phone & stop them when I shut it otherwise you use the red & green buttons. Everything falls to hand for the regular Nokia user & you will be at home with your 6600 fold from the moment you have fully charged it in only just over an hour.
I was surprised at how quickly the software (download PC suite from Nokia Internet site) stored into the phone the 1000 plus numbers that I have on my PC in Outlook. Image files transferred quickly &, despite slowing for file conversion, I was happy with the music & video facilities. The supplied micro SD card of 512MB (you can use one of up to 4GB) is only half full, despite me loading plenty of music, pictures & some video.
My only unsolved problem after just a day is in accessing Nokia maps which the website insists are installed on my phone, whilst my phone steadfastly refuses to acknowledge that they exist. However that matters little.
Just occasionally you fall in love with a phone for its looks & feel. Far more rarely having bought it you then find that that it even does the job well (the O2 Cocoon is a big letdown on this front). But the Nokia 6600 fold not only scores highly in both categories, it is one of those classics that may well be on display in a design museum come the next century (alongside other greats such as the Nokia 3310). This is the best phone I have owned.
